i keep thinking about how “is this what justice means to you, answer me neuvillette”, despite having been used in a case all those hundred of years ago, was probably a question that haunted - and still haunts - neuvilette during the entire time he has been chief of justice. i keep thinking about how they highlighted his struggles through time with both carole and wriothesley's trials. how guilty and powerless neuvillette must have felt for not being able to support and save those he recognised as vulnerable and victims before a system that corrupted their fates but that he wasn't able to change despite his position. the theme of being a casualty of a system no matter if you're the victim or the perpetrator in its eyes. the way neuvillette took, in both cases, things into his own hands. even if it was too late to fix the hurting carole and those who cared for her went through, even if it was too late to save her life; even if it was impossible to change wriothesley's past, his verdict and subsequent imprisonment; neuvillette went above and beyond, making use of his influence, to allow both melusines and wriothesley the opportunity of a better future - to melusines by making sure they weren't discriminated, to wriothesley by supporting his attempt at a second chance in life. i think part of the reason he's so intriguing is our awareness that this internal conflict he's bound to have is so complex. you have a chief of justice, or a judge, that is supposed to be imparcial and follow the law stictly confronted with situations of social injustice, unable to protect those who rely on him. you have someone who understands better than anyone what it means to be an outcast, being able to relate to those who are ostracised and have their pain weaponise against them. you have, in vautrin's case, a friend who cannot even showcase his own pain and is still expected to fullfil his juridical duties despite being personally related with those involved in the case. someone who people constantly turn to but whom he feels like he has no right to turn to himself. it's about the conflict between his feelings and his duty, between what's expected of him and what he can actually do. i think that's why the end of his story quest is so emotional and why it's so heartwarming to have him realise he isn't an outcast anymore, that he has a community there for him too. because a system is a system and he will probably never be able to save everyone, because yes he isn't human, but it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to belong or that an active demonstration of love towards individuals and people he can relate to rather than the theoretical concept of humanity isn't meaningful. in fact, i'd it's a lot about that, about finding ways to be kind and how community gives meaning to life; how personal relationships and targeted kindness can shape society, or at least i think so
#i don't know if this makes sense but i like how character's stories in fontaine are interconnected in the perfect way that they're used to#give depth to each other while also existing perfectly independently#i forgot to add navia's story to the post but that's also another scenario used to characterise neuvillette#the same way wriothesley's backstory exists independently but it's also used to give depth into neuvillette's character and his motivations#the same way navia and clorinde's probably will as well#i always headcanoned (is that a verb 😂) neuvillette and wrio's friendship stemming from neuvillette trying to atone to his silence during#wrio's trial. i think it makes sense. i think it probably meant a lot to wrio too to have someone be so trustworthy after everything he#went through the betrayal from his adoptive family and his only aid through his life being the melusines who aren't human#and neuvillette being that sort of comforting older figure especially probably feels familiar to wrio#i have no idea what i'm trying to say actually i have a big headache at the moment and i feel almost delirious but i just love the concept#of neuvillette as a character and i think a lot about his friendship with wriothesley how it began and the grief and guilt neuvillette#probably still carries#but also about how he also gets the chance to a brighter future and how he achieves it so naturally without even realising#how he never expected anything from his compassion even if he saw it as duty and didn't interpret his own kindness as anything other than#his own responsabilty towards others#like idk am i making sense???#he's just so cool 😂#like yeah there's a layer of there's no reason he would have any animotisity towards humans because they're not at fault for the primordial#one's actions but from that to actually actively being so empathetic and compassionate goes a bit of a long way?!#okay i'm over i'll shut up this is probably si confusing i apologise if anyone read this mess shsjhs#this is also influenced by my tbk brainrot because loving others actively is a big theme and i just think that's beautiful actually#genshin thoughts#genshin impact#my post

You know, I don’t consider myself a book purist and don’t care if they deviate too much from the books. So my problem with Theloise is not that Theo doesn’t exist in the books and I prefer Eloise with Phillip. My problem with Theloise is that their relationship was underdeveloped and boring. People are entitled to ship whatever they want, but I honestly don’t get what moves someone to be so invested in a relationship where we barely see the characters interacting and suddenly they fancy each oth
Warning: I know some of you like Theo, If you're a Theloise shipper please skip this post. I'm about to dish some slander. And you Theloise shippers don't need to read it.
If you're NOT a Theloise shipper go ahead press the keep reading button
You know why that ship doesn't make sense?
it's because Theo Sharpe as a character is incomplete! He's one dimensional as only a extra character can be. He was created just so Eloise could have someone to play with!
We don't know anything about Theo's life. there is nothing outside of what he offers to fulfill Eloise's personality and needs, we have nothing that point towards Theo being an individual of his own.
Theo was modelled after the quintessential one dimensional Wattpad hero. The Hallmark movie love interest. And I hate to burst that particular bubble but allow me to deconstruct the trope:
this one dimensional man's likes and dislikes are tailored so that his female lead can shine! The very purpose of his fictional existence is to be what Eloise needs and Eloise plotline requires. He doesn't have anything going on for him OUTSIDE of fullfilling Eloise sense of purpose.
a lot of people are attracted to that kind of hero and trust me I understand, there's nothing more attractive than a man who doesn't seem to have a life outside of what is needed to make his love interest happy. But to me that gets boring really fast
If she likes books then he likes books, if she's a feminist, then he's a feminist, if she disdains society then OMG he disdains society too. He doesn't have a family, his past is not important, his dreams for the future are whatever she dreams about but in masculine font. How terribly romantic. They're so perfect for each other. Except he's a commoner and can't be together. How convenient that Eloise is not like other girls and would be willing to risk her entire family's reputation for love.
How.... Con-ve-ni-ent.
Theloise is terribly perfect as a ship isn't it? He's just.. everything she's been subconsciously looking for in the men of the ton but she found it, in him 😍😍😍.
If I were Eloise, sister of a Viscount brave enough to run around the red light district with her private chaffeur in the Lamborghini. I would definitely be more suspicious of this Theo guy.
but then again I'm a person with a more selective taste and the minimum that I require from my male love interests is for them to actually have a modicum of a life outside of what their beloved wants and needs. I mean I still like them being fixated on their lovers 90% of the time. But he's gotta have a 10% that tells me he does things on his own when she's out with her friends working on making the world a better place
In the books Anthony has his duty to his family and his work as a Viscount, Simon and Garrett have their avoiding responsabilty adventures and their individual interests as well, Benedict has his art and his identity crisis over being just Bridgerton number two. Colin has his traveling, Philip has his plants, his estate and his children.
(Side note: in s1 Phillip was introduced for 5 seconds and the show immediately tells us he just lost his brother, currently has no remaining family and just inherited a title he never expected. In s2 were told he likes bothany and has apparently travelled to Greece to see the fauna. We got this details about the life Phillip has. All that with less screentime in s1 &2 combined. than Theo got as Eloise love interest in s2)
I'm not trying to be too hard on Theo and Eloise I just don't see the point of making it a love story when we could have just watched Will and Alice Mondritch set up their gentleman club and make money.
And that's the tea.

BARBARIAN Path of the BERSERKER - Mountain DWARF - Failed merchant
Some characters just have a lot to talk about, others a lot less. This is one of those with a very full life even before they start adventuring! I hope you enjoy his very long life story…
Name: Melbek “Donnybrook” Lutgehr (56yo)
Tumblr media
TAROTS
Mind: Nine of wands (upright) I love when the first card I draw is such a positive start. It might not look like it, cause the Nine of wands does give off this battle weary vibe. Yet, it’s also a big card of courage and persistence, of learning from past mistakes. And I feel like it's the perfect card for how I pictured good old Donny from the get go. He’s obviously very tired because of some failures he’d endured in the past, but he’s also up to the challenges the future has in store for him. He’s sure that he can still turn it all around and have something good to talk about at the end of it.
Body: Nine of cups (upright) Yet again, finding success, fulfilling a dream. It really made me wonder if maybe he failed as a merchant because his heart wasn’t into it, if he just put his energies in the wrong dream. A self-confidence card for “body” for a character that I already knew would be a barbarian… I mean, if very on the nose, but also so perfect! Donny knows what he’s good at, probably wanted to embrace it for a lot of time. But there was something that made him try to fing the success he craved for in something else.
Spirit: Seven of swords (reversed) Oh, how wonderful! Running away from consequences AND a need of coming clean! This is just the cherry on top. So, this poor lad repressed what he wanted, probably cause of some kind of duty towards something or someone, then finally he tried to reach for his dream, and that’s when the guilt trip started! He can’t seem to win, he’s always turn between his dream and that sense of duty towards something. I still can’t stop but coming back to that capacity to learn from his mistakes though. I know Donny can find a solution to his conundrum!
Past: Wheel of fortune (reversed) And look at that, once again the tarots point out how Donny’s life was going perfectly well, then they crumbled in front of him. And that mess made him feel so powerless, despite knowing it was kind of his fault since he never was a very good businessman. Yet, Donny sees that mess as an opportunity, he can finally move on and what he does best. Which is get mad and kick people in the nads. He just has to bear the weight of the responsabilties he’s leaving behind to everyone elses he loves.
Present: Eight of swords (upright) While this card can be related to actual imprisonment, I feel like considering everything I already got from Donny’s read, this is more of a psychological issue for him. A deep denial of how he truly feel probably. This very brave man, facing every enemy without a care in the world, yet, when it comes to coming true to his family, he shies away from the discussion. Literally paralyzed by the fear of coming back home and finding out that they’ll never forgive him. Yeah, more that kind of prison of the mind.
Future: Two of pentacles (upright) Aw, I’m moved. That Donny got this card just confirms how much of a family man he is deep down. He’ll struggle deeply to keep that balance between adventuring, and staying with the family he loves so much. Like always, the future card is a suggestion on a general direction for this character development. I do see Donny really trying to make a decision between the two things, especially if he finally decides to apologize in person to his family for leaving. I can see him torn between the party and his family, before either his family or the party helps him finally make a decision. Or they help him realize that he doesn’t necessarily have to choose at all, if the party becomes family too.
FULL BACKSTORY
Born in a brothel, Melbek is the son of Kettin, a sex worker. His father, unluckyly, was never in the picture, despite Kettin repeatedly telling him that he would have loved to be with them (apparently, Tordek, his father, had been captured by a bounty hunter just a couple of months before Melbek was born and Kettin, which at the time was planning on leaving her life as a sex worker with him, never saw or heard from him again). Melbek lived all of his childhood and teenage years with his mother and his two older half-sister, Gymres and Ingres, inside the rooming house where a lot of other sex workers lived with their own children. He considered all of them actual family, to the point that he called aunts and uncles the other sex workers and cousins their children. Some of those kids, he even considered brothers and sisters, mostly because in their early teens they got into trouble all together. His family still struggled a lot with money, so both his sisters and Melbek started to work as young as they could. The first job Melbek could find was as an errand boy for a brewery in town. He was known for getting into trouble, but also for not having an issue putting in his place people way bigger than he was with a well placed kick or punch. So, while he was allowed sometimes to help inside the brewery for the actual brewing (and he did develop a passion for the process), Melbek mostly delivered the product to the local seedy dive bars. It was during one of these deliveries to a bigger establishment that he stumbled in the middle of a brawl; nobody was actually trying to stop the fight, and the bartender, a very worried and way too young to be dealing with the situation girl, was about to have a mild panic attack because of it. Deciding he wanted to help, Melbek got into the fray and quickly stopped the fight, to the cheers of the other people and the gratitude of the poor girl. The following delivery to that establishment, came with a proposition from the owner itself, that was so impressed by the very glowing recommendation given by the bartender, that he wanted Melbek to be sort of a bouncer for him, since it wasn’t the first time that the place had been half-destroyed by things getting too heated up. In the following months, Melbek quickly gained himself a reputation and a nickname. Everyone started calling him either Donnybrook or Donny. Everyone but his family and the cute bartender, Maerma, which spent longer and longer talking to him, even when both of them were actually supposed to be working. Nobody was really surprised when they married just two years later. What came as a surprise was the inheritance from an old almost forgotten aunt of Maerna a couple of years after they married, when Maerna had just got pregnant with her first child. Apparently, Maerna was the only relative her aunt Gwenmyla had left, and while she used to visit her aunt a lot in her childhood, she hadn’t seen Gwenmyla since she was 7, when Maerna became an orphan and ended up in an orphanage. With the suddenly acquired money, the couple decided to buy a comfortable house for the family (which included not only the two of them and the baby that was about to be born, but, to Maerna’s insistence, even Kettin, Gymres and Ingres). The remaining money was put to a project that the couple had been talking about since the moment they met: opening their own bar, where they could have beer that they themselves brewed. So, they opened a new family business: the Brewer’s Den. For a long time their life seemed to be fantastic. Mearna and Donny became proud parents of two baby girls (Maeve and Marryn), Donny’s family was finally doing something that made them all happier… Yet, the bar never really seemed to completely succeed. They were always struggling, despite Donny’s efforts to brew fun and creative beers or liquors that could attract people to their establishment. After about twelve years from the opening, they were on the verge of bankruptcy. Well aware that he could do nothing for his business other than apparently make it go into even deeper debt, Donny tried to think of what else he could do to try and prevent his family from ending up on the streets. One night, while he was tending the bar on his own, a group of adventurers in very expensive looking garb, entered to find momentary shelter from a terrible rainstorm. Impressed by their wealth, he inquired about their way of life. And a forgotten dream, the dream of a child playing with his brothers and sisters in the seedy streets of the poorest neighborhood in town, quickly came once again to the forefront… Could he really gain so much wealth like them? Could he really make sure his family was happy once again? Before he knew it, he’d already decided… And left just a couple of days later, in the middle of the night, only a letter left behind, a heavy guilt inside his heart and a hope that he’d made the right choice this time.

I've been seeing your idea of Alpha!Flynn and Omega!Yuri floating around and wanted to come and say-- I AM INTERESTED TO HEAR ABOUT THIS! FureYuri (Top!Flynn/Bottom!Yuri) is my jam and I myself have an ongoing series on AO3 with ABO elements where Yuri is a wolf and Flynn is his mated alpha, despite being human, because Yuri wanted him to be his top and mate.
My english is not vey good, because it’s not my mothertongue, sorry for the mistakes ^^”
My idea was more to include omegaverse in the story without really changing anything else. Expect some points.
SoYuri: OmegaRepeade: DogEstelle: BetaKarol: Futur Omega (Nan is a Alpha) but still a child for now.Rita: BetaRaven: Was a Alpha before, is a Beta since he has the Blastia Heart.Judith: AlphaPatty: BetaFlynn: Alpha
When Yuri has been revealed to be a omega, with his beautiful appearance, he has had a lot of problems even if he knew defend himself. He was not a usual omega, some people was often surprised to see that he was not a alpha.
Flynn has always been VERY protective because he was afraid that, one day, a alpha more powerful kidnaps Yuri and uses him. He was terrified at the idea of Yuri being bitten and used by someone against his own will. But like they were always together, his scent surrounded a little Yuri, and it was a little protection against alphas. Sometimes Flynn growled against unknown alphas who comes a little too close of HIS best friend. (Yuri found that hilarous)
They manage to get enough money for buy supressants for them. They don't want that a heat (for Yuri) or a rut (for Flynn) end by...well...Flynn doesn't want to risk to take advantage of his friend or to bite him without permission during one of these moments. He would NEVER forgive himself.
Nothing in the laws of the empire forbiddes the omega to becomes knights, as long that they know how fight. But the empire has not a good views of the omegas, they more here for be "toys" or "babies machine". So while the laws is nice with omega, people sees them more or less like "people to be used".
So while Omega CAN be knight, some officers (the respectful ones, who fear the possible agression, kidnapping or stuff) would prefer that the knights omegas be bounded, because it's the best way to be left alone for them. (the laws says that touching a "bounded omega" is a crime).
Of course Yuri doesn't care. He's a omega and? Flynn is super stressed and becomes a little agressive toward Yuri. (UST? maybe?) They are lucky, Niren doesn't care at all about alphas/omegas/betas. Like everyone in his brigade.
The movie is more or less the same, they adopt Repeade, they act like a old married couple, they have a fight, even if the alpha side of Flynn wants to assert his dominance over this omega who make him crazy. (he begins to be even more possessive and protective) Also there some incidents with alphas and Flynn is more and more worried because :Yuri is a omega, he's careless, one day he will face someone stronger than him and....And in result he's more agressive toward Yuri.
When Yuri decides to leave the knights, they both realize that he will never have peace alone. Of course he know how fight. But...he's still a omega and could have problems one day, especially now that he'll be alone. So Flynn proposes him a solution totally selfless: what if he bited him? He would become his mate, his scent would covert him all times, and so he would be left in peace since he would be mated. Flynn doesn't ask anything in exchange. Nothing.
(Yeah Flynn gives up the possibility to have a mate, for protecting his friend)
Yuri accept because he knows Flynn, he trusts him, he likes him, and it would not be so bad, it would maybe makes his life better since no alphas would bother him anymore.
He just says "A alpha can give orders to his omega with vocal pheromones, you must promise to never use that against me!! Never force me to obey you"
Flynn promises because he thinks that he would never force his best friend into submission like that (he hates the idea). And so he bites him.
During the three years who follows everything is the same, except that Flynn goes more often in the lower quarter. Bring food and supressants to Yuri, is sill often worried for him, is sometimes angry that Yuri does nothing with his life, ect... the bite changes nothing between them, except they more tactile between them (and more cuddles)
The knights are a little confused because "this omega smells like the lieutenant Flynn?" "What?" "Lieutenant, your omega in in jail again!!" and Flynn is so done XD
The game begins and nothing change. Estelle is a beta, so she doesn't realize that Yuri smells like Flynn (so that he is his mate). And Yuri doesn't brag it. But he begins to miss him too. They met Karol (who is a omega but he has not been revealed for now because he's still a child), and Rita (who is a beta).
When he met Flynn again, the knight is about to break his promise because he's so angry. He's about to order Yuri to......but Estelle arrives at the right moment. After that? maybe a cuddle between them in the inn?
At every meeting between them, they are happy to see each other, have some cuddle time, speak and argue...nothing change from the game, except the cuddles.
Again everything is the same for some time. Raven joins, then Judith and Patty.
The first big change is after Cumore's death.Flynn uses his "vocal pheromones" for force Yuri to not resist when he's about to arrest him for murders. “On your knees, NOW!”
That's hurt. Because Yuri sees it like a betrayal. He can't move, he falls on his knees because it's the first time that Flynn uses it against him and it's brutal.Especially that at this moment, Flynn has no remorse because he's so angry. "You are MY responsabilty, my omega and if you cross the line, I must act in consequence: I’ll take you back with me and..."
But then Sodia and Estelle arrive and Flynn is enough distracted to release his omega from his  "vocal pheromones order". and Yuri runs aways. At this point, Flynn has still not remorse. And Estelle has still not understood the bound between them (they are not acting like a normal Alpha/Omega couple)
After Belius death, they met again.
Flynn is like "don't force me to do it again Yuri, give the stone and lady Estelle, by your own will or...""Or what ALPHA? You are going to submit your mate with your little voice?" and then Yuri stabs Flynn by words, like in the game and he finishes by "but I'm your omega right? So you have the power to arrest me! You can do whatever you want to me! What do you wait? DO IT"
And this time, Flynn feels shame, he feels the shattered trust. And don't stop them. His heart hurts, and he feels like a idiot, what he has done? what...
The groupe finally understand that they are mated but Yuri doesn't explain why or how.Rita says "why did you give yourself to a such jerk?"Patty says "At least he has not used a vocal order" (haha if she knew)Karol is afraid to be a omega (still not revealed). (sorry karol but you are one)Estelle sees that it's not always cute and beautiful between the Alpha/Omega romance. (welcome to the real world)Raven is like "ha youngness"Judith pats Yuri's shoulder. "You want me to punch him next time?"
After that? Everything go the same. Until Raven's betrayal. Flynn joins the group and Yuri is still bitter, even if he's happy to see that his friend is back to his senses. They speak a lot, maybe share their first kiss, Flynn apologizes again and again about the order. But Yuri knows that if Flynn thinks that he must use it, he will do it again so he says "forget the promise, if you feel that I go too far, use it"
Sodia realizes that Yuri smells like her captain. And Yuri is a little shit by taunting her about "sorry but I'M his mate", and also because he feels some jealousy to see another omega near to Flynn and interested by him. Even if the blond doesn't see anything about it.
At Zaude, Flynn FEELS that Yuri is not dead and feels strangely angry when he sees Sodia, even if he doesn't understand why. Duke smells Flynns's scent on Yuri just gives the omega to his alpha and go away. This time Yuri doesn't hide the truth, and it's more because Flynn sees the wound before his mate's awekening.
They finally confess to each other before the final fight, maybe share their first night together too.
Post-Game? I don't a lot of ideas but the biggest is that Karol and Judith says "we could build our guild-house in Zaphias?" because they don't want to force Yuri to choose between his mate and his friends.
