Nu carnival x shy gemless reader from Eidens world

Yakumo

What's better than one pretty shy boy? Two pretty shy boys! He's so comforting and supportive and works hard to get you little gifts to make you feel welcome in this world. He thought it was scary moving from the country to the city so he can only imagine how scary it was moving worlds. He just wants you to feel comfortable around him. Silence with him is comfortable, you never feel forced to talk if you don't want to. He's happy to just vibe with you.

Edmond

It's his “duty” to protect you while you're in Klein continent. Yeah no one else believes it either. He thinks it's impressive how you made it this far with no essence at all. He is awkward and doesn't really know how to approach you without coming off as a scary military captain. He relaxes more around you if you ask him about local food. You can see him open up when talking about local food and that makes you feel better. Sometimes he “accidentally” buys a second portion that he can't eat, you might as well take it so it doesn't go to waste.

Olivine

A little confused but he got the spirit. This applies to both of you by the way. You have no idea how a preacher got so jacked! And he has no idea how you got here without essence. He wants to help in any way he can. It's nice how genuine he is and that makes him easy to open up to. You wind up helping at the temple to thank him for his kindness. Just avoid some of his crazy fans and you'll be fine.

Quincy

Honestly couldn't care less where you come from, what you look like, or if you have essence or not. As long as you respect his forest. He may get a little annoyed if you try following him and can't keep up. He does appreciate it when you cook or do things for him but for the most part he's self sufficient. He won't push for conversation if you don't want to talk which is nice. Honestly it's going to be a little rough until you figure out each other's social cues. Topper is going to be your best friend!

Kuya

He already teases Eiden about not being able to use essence, and you are definitely not an exception. He is relentless in his teasing and sometimes takes it too far, especially in the beginning when he's testing your boundaries. It's not all bad though. He likes making things and clothes and often asks you to try out what he makes. It's his way of trying to be welcoming. He'll also ask about your world, different things about culture or really anything interesting. Maybe tell him something he can use against Eiden, I suggest the first line to a catchy song.

Blade

There is no such thing as being shy around Blade. I'm sorry but if you want no human interaction you are going to have to tell him and explain why. Besides being a little…energetic, he is so sweet. He asks a lot of questions about where you came from, and he'll ask Eiden if he can't find you. He will do his best to make you feel at home and welcomed with him. Absolutely no judgment with him either so you're free to express yourself however you want. He can be a little much but at the same time he's so cute. Like a big puppy curious about what's in your hand!

Garu

He is very good about your boundaries and will not cross them intentionally. He will also get between you and others if you look uncomfortable. It took some time to get used to his appearance but he was kind and patient so you pretty quickly warmed up to him. He doesn't know much about Klein culture because he grew up alone in the dead zone, but he's happy to explore and learn with you!

Karu

Similar to Garu but turn up the intensity. He almost bit someone in the market because they bumped into you and you got spooked. You were shocked when he called you slave #2 but Eiden explained that Karu doesn't really mean it. He got into a fight with Garu about it so now he just calls you human. As long as you put up with some of his weird mannerisms you get a free guard dog though.

Dante

Do not expect a sugar daddy with him. If you want something he is going to make you earn it, he does not believe in handouts. No it doesn't matter where you're from, or how kind, or weak you are without essence. If you want to stay in Solaria and not in Asters mansion than you will need to follow his rules. It's rough for the first week or so, but eventually you notice how you've changed. He'll have you interact with his servants and slowly you will become more social and have less anxiety and have started coming out of your shell. It's hard to see it in the moment but he's tough on you to help. At least help in what he feels is the best way.

Rei

He understands how Eiden got here because of the rainbow gemstone, but has absolutely no clue how you came? Sorry but he will want to study you. It's weird and awkward, especially because he doesn't talk while he does it. If you stay with him you won't have to go out much which is good for your shyness. When he grabs things for research he'll bring back stuff for you, snacks or food. He says it's to see how you react to stuff with different properties, but if you like something you don't even need to say anything and he'll get more.

Eiden

Oh he would be so protective! He remembers how sweet you were in his world, plus he remembers his scared he felt when he came to this world. He will have Aster let you stay in the mansion and you'll get your own room. He will introduce you to all the clan members, and warn you some of them are a little…unique. Big brother mode is in full force. If he can't protect you in this scary world then he will ask one of his clan members to help.

First impression

Believe it or not, my first impression of Edmond actually wasn’t good! I was like, “Damn, he’s pretty, but he’s such an asshole!” He seemed stuck-up at best and unnecessarily mean to Eiden at worst. I felt a wee bit better about him when he told Yakumo that the knights that bothered his village were being punished, but I still didn’t like him very much.

I LOVE EDMOND AND WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR HIM!!!!!

Yo. The GAP MOE. He acts all cold and professional at work, but then we find out that he’s sensitive??? And addicted to sugar??? (Literally a sweetheart!) And he’s basically an otaku that reads erotic book series in his spare time??? (SO DAMN RELATABLE????)

And it is so easy to misunderstand him if you’re only looking at the surface level. Like, yes, his general speech patterns are very rough and blunt, but that’s only because of his upbringing in nobility. He holds himself to a higher standard, but is incredibly humble.

No, really; let’s take a moment to really look at that noble upbringing of his. Aster makes it very clear that many (if not most) of the nobles of Klein are stupid, greedy, and/or corrupt in some capacity—they don’t really care about the common people. Edmond grew up surrounded by that, along with their insane amount of ettiquette, customs, and roundabout ways of speaking. It would’ve been TOO EASY for him to turn out to be a self-absorbed snob, too.

But he isn’t!!! Against all odds, Edmond grew up to be an upright man with a strong sense of justice and concern for civilians. He takes noblesse oblige seriously. He works hard everyday in everything he does; and he does A LOT. Like, A LOT a lot. His full-time job as Vice Captain, plus Clan duties, plus household duties (so that his mother doesn’t have to do any of it, even though she says she can). 

It’s no wonder, then, that he’s so goddamn repressed!!!

Sure, he’s a tsundere. But that’s only out of habit (and shyness), rather an actual reflection of his desires. He’s used to stifling that part of himself. He’s used to treating lust as shameful, because he’s afraid of lacking discipline; he doesn’t want to be like all the other trashy nobles in high society.

But through all of his intimacy rooms, Edmond is accepting himself more and more—his sexuality, his essence/magic, and his feelings. While he’s still the strict and hardworking Vice Captain, he’s finding more balance in his life.

During the White Dat event, Edmond makes his awful dad-joke and looks so proud of himself, it makes me feel so endeared I can barely handle it!!!

The Tranquil Cloud intimacy rooms also hold a special place in my heart. In them, there’s a moment where Edmond deliberately slows his steps so Eiden can walk next to him. Later on in the day, Eiden accidentally finds out that Edmond was following a very specific tip from a certain book:

Of course, when Edmond sees Eiden reading that page (which he’d bookmarked and even underlined), he gets very embarrassed. But Eiden is very impressed, moved, and (as per usual) turned on. XD

Idea for a story

It won’t be coming out anytime soon, because there are different stories I have to work on first, but I have started on an Edmond fic! In it, while Edmond is off investigating a drug ring, he ends up raiding a greenhouse filled with plants and animals that were used to make the drugs. After the animals are inspected, those without abnormalities are released back into the wild; however, one of them returns and keeps following Edmond around! Thus, Edmond gets reverse-adopted and gains his own animal friend!

Unpopular opinion

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I NEED more of the Edmond intimacy rooms to lean in to BDSM territory!!!

Don’t get me wrong; I absolutely ADORE the romance-heavy rooms. And there have been some rooms that feature light over-stimulation, but other than that? That one fingering scene that had Lord/Knight role-play and then (blessedly) the Elite Instructor Edmond R2 with light bondage and spanking.

But it’s not enough!!!

Come on, devs! You can’t just have Eiden point out that Ed “likes a little pain” in the first sex scene they have, and then do barely ANYTHING with it! I want to see Edmond completely lose his head! I want him to completely let go! I want him to forget his own name, dammit!!!

Mama’s Boy Edmond! I like to imagine that Ed’s mom (who, from what we’ve seen, is super cool) will give him completely unsolicited relationship advice, in typical mom-fashion! Like, the two of them will be causally eating lunch, and out of nowhere she’ll say something like “You know, Edmond dear, the more often someone sees you, the more fond they'll be of you. If the Grand Sorcerer sees your face every day, it’ll be easier to seduce him!” And Ed would practically shriek “Mother! Okay this is going to be a long one.

Now, from my knowledge of Eiden's personality. He loves teasing (shown with Edmond and Dante and maybe Quincy though he always lose with him), And be sweet, (With Blade, Garu/Karu and Yakumo), and Knows them while (Kuya... at times XD) and Horny. Eiden is a person that knows what his clan (Partners) need or is dealing with.

So I'm going to spilt the WHB boys by how MC would act with them.

I might do a part 2 with the other characters I didn't do here (I'm drawing a blank cause I want to make them different from each other.)

Teasing

Dantalian- Oh boy, this little boy loves getting angry and just throw himself in danger, so what better way for MC to keep him from his suicidal path is teasing him. Instead looking down at him for wearing the school boy uniform, MC calls him cute. That got him all flustered.

Stolas- Another Angry boy. But he's is as obvious cause he just wants to be king (Insert Lion King song XD) When Stolas start ranting, MC listens, and when there's a flaw in his reasoning MC smile and say something on the line "Do you really thing that they'll take you seriously if you do that" And that's how the two go back and forth, with MC have this smug grin on their face.

Bimet- MC can't not with his self-importance attitude, when he start talking about his job and how Mammon relays on him. But soon turned "Me talk" MC has this blank start, and when Bimet Notice he calls them out and MC does is act dumb, in the back of their mind they can just walk circle around Bimet.

Leraye- He mention that he doesn't miss and MC know it. So when MC ask for him to teach them some tips to have as good of a accuracy as he does, MC can see him huff his chest proudly. But Leraye guide MC, him leaning from behind, both hands are over MC's with they are holding his sniper. MC seductively ask Leraye if their doing it right and he get's all flustered within a second and BOOM! MC pulls the trigger, cause Leraye to be hot and bothered. and that want MC wanted. And Leraye tries to keep his composure.

Sweet/Being a softy

Eligos- Good boy? He is a Good boy. When he returns from a battle, he immediately goes to MC. Why? cause he knows that he'll get all the praise and head pats he wants from them. MC sees him and he tells them all the things he did. MC's hearts melt with how adorable Eligos is. Additional cuteness, if he as if he lay his head onto MC's lap while they stroke his head. MC can't say no to him.

Paimon- Well Paimon just love chilling with MC and vice versa. Its either they talk about their interest and Paimon loves styling MC (either messy like putting sticker on them or love seeing MC in the clothes he choose for them) And MC love every moment of.

Bael- Give this man a hug, MC they might not say it but they know that Bael is a bit conflicted with his current situation, MC feeling sorry for him. So whenever they meet MC talks to him or just hangs out.

Knows them well

Sitri- As being Satan's right hand, Sitri at times stress (either having to give Satan update about the region and the other nobles or dealing with the other nobles antics) So that's when MC comes in, MC ask him but he won't say anything, but they know by just seeing how is his, they immediately knows what to do. subtly they suggest having tea and just talking.

Gusion- If MC is good at math, Gusion would put them into the test with how good their math skills are, but increasing the difficulty every time. And MC as stubborn and determine they are proves that they can do it. You might see a fade blush on Gusion cheek.

yakumo hates being the center of attention. he can’t stand anyone staring at him, he’s not used to it, it makes him feel anxious and embarrassed and self conscious…

unless the person doing the staring is eiden.

while it’s true that under normal circumstances, yakumo feels very awkward having anyone pay close attention to him, the exact opposite is true when it comes to eiden.

he wants eiden to look at him, to pay attention to him, to stare at him and not take his eyes off of him. it still makes yakumo’s heart start to race, and it still makes him blush and want to avoid eye contact, but for a completely different reason.

it takes a lot of courage, for him to say this to eiden. but somehow, yakumo pushes down all his embarrassment and manages to confess that even if he has grown so much during the time he’s spent with eiden, he still wants the grand sorcerer to keep looking out for him, to keep paying attention to him. he doesn’t exactly need it, but.. he wants it.

the way eiden kisses him so sweetly in the academy’s library, like they were the only two people in the entire world, makes yakumo feel so safe. he’s so in love, and for once he doesn’t suppress the serpentine desire to have eiden all to himself.

eiden notices this, of course he does, he’s always been so observant when it comes to yakumo. and the only thing he has to say in response to seeing the serpent’s true form for the first time?

he kisses yakumo even harder, panting compliments into his mouth and asking to see more. more of the features the serpent had been told to hide all his life, more of the features he’d come to see as repulsive or unsightly. eiden wants to see more of him, all of him.

CONCLOOSIONS

I have written a lot of NU:Carnival fanfic holy shit this took longer than I thought it would take when I had the procrastinative idea

The Mark of the Fox is upon 18 of my fics. I have written 35, so that makes for more than 50%. But he only actually appears in 01.

Kuya/Karu is extremely canon to anything I write.

I have a lot of fun having Eiden use Kuya as a touchstone for all things kinky.

Yakumo Gets Got Drabble + Headcanons

Living with Yakumo in the mansion was a little bit like living with a ghost, Eiden had to admit to himself.

He had combed nearly the entire mansion by now trying to find his newest clanmate, and after receiving yet another 'you just missed him' from a servant he felt he was going mad. His last hallelujah was a tip from a butler that Yakumo was in the kitchen - doing what Eiden couldn't say but he was beelining there as fast as he could.

"A-ha!" He yelled, watching Yakumo shriek and jump at the sudden noise. "There you are!"

"M-Mr Eiden!" Yakumo was hunched over a countertop, trembling slightly from the fright. "I-I wasn't hiding!"

"I know you weren't!" Eiden grinned, sidling up behind him and wrapping his arms around the yokai's waist, "I just couldn't find you for so long! The mansion is far too big - I still get lost sometimes!" He sighed, shaking his head before tiptoeing slightly to peer over Yakumo's shoulder. "What are you making?"

Yakumo seemed to remember he was doing something, as a deep red colour spread across his cheeks. "Making bread?" He half-mumbled, returning to kneading the dough. "I'm just trying to get the dough to stick together properly - I'm not sure if I need to add more flour or not yet, I just kind of... eyeballed it..." His voice shrunk in volume the more he spoke, as if uncertain in his own abilities. "My grandma makes bread all the time... I miss her..."

Eiden frowned a little, squeezing Yakumo a little in the hug. "We can always go see her you know?" He couldn't quite make out what Yakumo said to that, but he saw that the yokai shook his head. "Why not? I'm sure your grandma and grandpa would love to see you?"

"I have to wait... at least until Mr Aster can plausibly create a 'cure' for the earthworm thing..." He seemed to shrink in on himself even further at the reminder, as if willing himself to disappear.

"Well then, why don't we learn how to make bread together and we can surprise them with some baskets of the stuff when we can go down?" Eiden offered cheerfully, causing Yakumo's blush to spread down to his neck.

"N-no, I couldn't-"

"Couldn't what?" Eiden frowned again, tasering the yokai's sides. "Let me help you! It's bonding time!"

"It's- s-stop it! It's beneath you-"

"Is it beneath me if I want to do it?" Eiden ignored Yakumo's stuttering giggles, in favour of musing over the statement. "It should surely be beneath you too, then, since you were above me?" He waggled his eyebrows as Yakumo stared at him, almost in disbelief, before taking advantage of the distraction and slipping his hands into the serpents armpits.

"NO!" He squealed, hearty laughter spilling from his lips as he tried to slam his arms shut. His hands were still stuck in the bread dough, and he was trying not to throw it around everywhere, but he was trembling from the sheer force of will it took to keep them straight. "S-stohohop!"

"Let me help you!"

Thoughts on the new nu: carnival chapter?? I'm literally thriving finally LORE

So much juicy lore, so many promising connections. I can't stand it.

I will put my observations under the read more since spoilers, but know that I need chapter 14 immediately

Most important take away: I am going to kill Kolt. He hurt our puppy and that sin is unforgivable.

Second take away: Rei is royalty, though how exactly is still a mystery. Also, confirmed to be old enough to have traveled with Kuya and Quincy back when Huey was still around.

Third: I have a bad feeling that the reason Rei reacted so immediately to Garu and wasn't surprised by Karu was because Rei had something to do with Garu's past. Garu was taken as a literal puppy at some point, my guess is Rei had something to do with that. After all, Garu's gem(s) not being part of his body is part of the mystery. A mystery that sounds very similar to Rei's field of study (remember how his gem is chipped because he removed part of it). It also implies that Garu's scars aren't from fighting but from where his gem was forcefully removed.

Fourth: Whatever Rin did to Eiden is really messing with him.

Fifth: Rei keeps referring to Kuya and Quincy has having made their deals willingly. Olivier and Yakumo have ancestors that failed to live up to their contracts, so the gems were passed down... So where does Rei fall? He is old enough to have known Huey personally and traveled with him to regulate the alters, but it's implied he was born with his gem (since he can't distinguish between his natural essence and Huey's essence like Kuya and Quincy can).

Sixth: there is way more to Rei and Father's story, since they haven't been together very long.

Yandere Nu carnival

Yakumo

He's so sweet, how can you say no to that face? You never really get to see his yandere tendencies, and he plans to keep it that way as long as possible. The only time he has ever appreciated his snake power was when he can punish people who were mean to you. He genuinely loves you and wants you to be happy, and he's happy watching you flourish. Vengeance and violence are his only yandere tendencies but never directed to you. No matter what he would never hurt you. He would be heartbroken if you fell for someone else. Torn apart between his love for you and his need to have you happy.

Edmond

He fights with his feelings for you constantly. He knows what he's feeling is wrong but he can't stop. It's your fault he can't get you out of his head. He will have some of his men keep an eye on you when he has to take care of duties for the king or Eiden. His guards are never allowed to interact with you though. If he finds out one of them touched you! No one will be able to find the body. He takes your safety more seriously than he takes the kings. He hates these overwhelming feelings. He will sometimes bake you sweets and leave it on your doorstep. He doesn't get close to you. He desperately wants to, but he's so scared to mess it up. He feels unworthy of your attention. Unless something happens to you and he has to intervene you probably won't see him. You'll just have a secret admirer.

Olivine

Unknowingly manipulative. He wants to be a beacon of light in this scary world for you. It's not his fault that his fans are crazy, but if they ever say anything to you he's always there with open arms ready to comfort you. He scolds his followers who get jealous of you. He understands their jealousy though, he feels the same when he sees you with others. Although he doesn't act on his jealousy. He would write stories about you to read to the kids who come to the temple. He would also write some private stories for himself as well. He feels guilty about these stories and will get you little gifts the next day…you have lots of little gifts from him.

Quincy

For a man so big he is deadly quiet when he wants to be. If you're from the tribe he checks in on you every once in a while but doesn't do much else. If you're from the city though… Just a clumsy little thing that wandered too far into his territory. There's no way you'd survive without him, you're far too weak. So he's got to protect you right? He's always had protective instincts but has never felt the need to act like this before. Topper is worried about him but there's nothing to be worried about, he's just watching over you. If you get too lost and stumble into his cabin he thinks it's perfect. He can put in the effort this once to take care of this little stray.

Kuya

This is a big game to him but it's a game he's going to win. You started off as a play thing he became obsessed with. Just a lost little rabbit that fell into the foxes den. He doesn't even need to touch you to punish you. Illusions of your loved ones dying or feeling your bones break. You feel everything and its so real that you can't think straight when you come out of the illusion. Half the time he lets you cry in his arms after the punishment asking softly if you learned your lesson. You nod your head as you cry but you know you'll be punished again. He will use any excuse to punish you just to see more of your delicious reactions. You're too scared to try and run, you really are a rabbit in his maw.

Blade

He wants to know everything about you. Isolating, he gets extremely jealous when others are near you. Unironically calls you darling. Eliminator who will kill anyone who he thinks gets close to you. The only exception is the clan members because he can't make Eiden sad, but he will hurt them as a warning if he feels the need to. He does not feel like what he's doing is wrong, he just knows he feels so strongly. The only other person allowed to get close to you is Eiden because it's “double cuteness”. Totally delusional as well. He thinks you love him just as much as he loves you and there's no way to get him to see reality.

Garu

Puppy. He just wants to be by your side. His feelings and affection for you are genuine. Unfortunately his fear of abandonment is what could trigger some of his more obsessive tendencies. Escape is not an option either if you try to avoid him or run away well you're not going to get very far when he can just sniff you out. Him and Karu have been alone for so long and will be heartbroken if you were to leave. He's incredibly protective of you and is always on the lookout if anybody would want to try to hurt or take advantage of you. Just don't leave him and he'll do pretty much anything you want.

Karu

Now unlike Karu who is content just being near you, Garu needs to have you. He is much more possessive and just as protective. While Karu will beat up people who say things behind your back, Garu will tear them apart if someone so much as looks at you wrong. After he will grab your arm with his bloody hand and drag you away. You are his and will make sure you know your place.

Dante

He wants to keep you close. He would give you an easy job in the palace like feeding the animals or cleaning the arena. Not something too dangerous, but close enough to danger that it impresses you whenever you see him beast taming or training soldiers. He wants you to think he's strong, smart, and perfect. Even if he knows he's not perfect he wants you to look up to him, maybe even worship him. He's pretty tame as long as you don't try to leave Solaria or get a boyfriend/girlfriend. If you do he won't take it out on you though. He will simply get rid of whoever dares get close to you. He is all you will ever need anyway, it's not like anyone else can provide more than him.

Rei

Oh yeah he'll just kidnap you. He thinks and plans so fast so it's only a few days between meeting you and taking you. However the whole thing was miraculously planned out. It only took him a few days to learn everything about you, you really should have better home security. Well that doesn't really matter because you're coming to his cabin anyway. You can't even fight him, not in a way that matters. He's too smart to trick and won't lower his guard. If he thinks for a moment you are planning something he has plenty of drugs to keep you complacent.

Eiden

He already has a giant harem, so why not join it? He can flirt his way into most guys' pants so he will definitely use that experience on you. He figures if he can seduce you he can win your heart after. First he just needs to show what he's good at. He may also convince some of the other clan members to help win you over. Blade Garu Yakumo and Olivine are more than happy to have a new friend around. If they are yandere too then you don't stand a chance. You want to get away? Nope, now you have a clan member escorting you back to Eiden. Its not that bad, Eiden doesn't punish or anything like that. Still your basically stuck in a gilded cage.

Aster

Unfortunately you have no choice but to do what he says. He has so much blackmail on you. Most of it is small things that don't matter, but a collection of every mistake you've made you can't ignore. He has blackmail on your family too, enough to get them executed. You don't want your friends or family caught in this, right? As long as you continue to dote on him he won't say a word. He doesn't want gifts or anything from you. Just your presence, attention, and maybe some blood…

Morvay

Does it count as a stalker if you know he's there? Like always there. He visits you any chance he gets, and he has so much free time. He'll annoy Aster for spending money to buy you gifts. Not wholesome gifts like some of the others, no he'd rather get you lingerie or a toy and once even got you a small bottle of aphrodisiac. He won't act without consent but he is constantly wearing you down. You can't get a moment of peace. He will insert himself into your life until you think of him as much as he thinks of you. At the end of the day he just wants you to use him.

Eiden/Edmond Fluffy Ficlet

The last part of the event reminded me I wrote this scene I deleted from a longer fic where Edmond teaches Eiden to ride a horse. I wanna write a whole thing with this but the end scene of Edmond and Eiden riding together made my crazy horse girl heart so happy. 😭 Enjoy this silly little scene!

Eiden returns as promised, although his confusion is evident when he sees that Edmond is holding the reins to two different horses in the garden.

“Horses?” Eiden asks, and Edmond can’t help but enjoy hearing the slight pitch in his voice.

“Yes, horses.” Edmond laughs. “We need to ride them to get where we’re going.”

Eiden stares for a moment before nodding, but when Edmond goes to hand him the reins of the gray mare he grabbed for him from the stables, Eiden stops him. “Wait. I’ve never ridden a horse before.”

“Do you not have horses in your world?” Edmond cocks his head much like a confused puppy.

“I mean, yes. But we haven’t needed to use them for transportation for something like two hundred years. So now if people keep them, it’s as pets or they ride them for sport. But it’s very expensive and it’s not like any of my foster homes ever gave me the opportunity to try it.” Eiden scratches the back of his head, his eyes downcast in an unusual show of insecurity.

Edmond hums in response. Eiden’s world continues to sound so strange to him — how do they travel without horses? But at least he sees this as another opportunity. 

“Then it’s time I teach you how to ride.”

Eiden makes a sound that resembles a frightened squeak, and Edmond can’t help but chuckle at how cute it is. 

“I’ve picked a very calm horse, don’t worry. She’ll take care of you.”

Eiden didn’t look convinced. But several minutes later, he’s precariously balanced on the mare’s back. His position is very uncoordinated and he’s clearly very nervous, much like a small child on their first pony. Edmond smiles as he reaches up and shows him how to properly hold the reins, then goes to move his leg to where it needs to be.

“You’re doing well. Point her nose in the direction you want to go and give her a light squeeze with your calves to get her to move forward.”

Eiden has questionable success in his steering, but by the end of their quick session, he at least seems to have better figured out his balance.

“Think you can make it on a half hour ride?”

The defeated groan Eiden gives him is answer enough.

After Edmond returns the mare to the stable and asks the young man there to take care of her, he gets Eiden on his own bay gelding before he swings up behind him.

“Is this okay?” Edmond asks as he gets situated. It takes a bit of compensating to adjust his seat so that they’re both comfortable, but when Eiden nods, Edmond clucks his tongue at the horse and they head down the trail at an easy walk.

He can feel when Eiden finally relaxes, leaning back into Edmond’s chest with a sigh. Edmond is glad that Eiden is in front of him because there’s no way he’d be able to hide any redness in his face otherwise.

“Where are we going?” Eiden breaks the silence.

“A favorite place of mine.”

Eiden hums and thankfully doesn’t push beyond that.

Although the demon does occasionally move so that his ass presses back against Edmond’s cock through their clothes. Edmond knows he makes some very undignified noises when it happens, and judging by the smirk Eiden flashes him, that was exactly the goal.

#mp100 Age Swap Madia AU ideas (or at least, the way I spin it): Shigeo Kageyama edition:

-Mob still has psychic powers but he isn't as scared to use them on people and therefore controls them better. They still tend to go out of control when he's feeling strong emotions.

-He's not much in contact with his family anymore, more to keep them out of the criminal world than anything. He sees his parents at some events but that's about it. He sees ritsu more, mostly because Ritsu was already tied to this world at some point.

-Mob became a member of the mafia half because he ended up in the wrong crowd of people and because their family was struggling with money. He wanted to help his parents and help Ristu continue his studies to become a doctor. He never told his parents about being part of the yakuza nor how he's now the boss of one of the biggest families in their area, but his parents obviously can read the news.

They never mention it and decide to look the other way.

-Ekubo and Mamoru are the members that have known Mob for the longest. Most people are either newer members, or if they followed Mob they weren't as old in the gang as the three were. Anyone that would have known Mob for as long as the twin has either retired or died.

-(inspired by Eiden's thread) Mob became the boss he is today after overthrowing the previous boss and his lieutenant. Things had been declining for a long while and everyone at the top kept abusing and mistreating everyone else.

Mob decided to do something about it and immediately had the backing of the twins. It wasn't hard finding other strong allies around him to ensure even better his success. Once he became the boss (and the family became the Kageyama), he started weeding out the bad apples.

-Mob is a rather closed-off person and doesn't open up easily, nor is his absolute trust easy to win. For a long while the Yoshioka twins were the only one he truly trusted with his back, especially with his new position. He now has more trust in the higher-ranking man.

-Mob hates having to do social things with leader of other families to keep good relationship. He does it only because he knows that despite how confident he is in himself, he still need good allies. The only one he trust is Sho Suzuki (the only other family backing him when he overthrew the other group. Despite that, he still doesn't see reasons for the man to plot against him.)

-Very few people have seen what his tattoo looks like, he's rather modest and doesn't like undressing in front of people.

-Reigen is the first person he has fallen for in years, and is more possessive and protective of him than he would have likely been in his teenage years.

-He was nicknamed the "Silent Demon" after an assassination job he did where he killed many people without anyone ever hearing anything despite there being many people around. Mob can be really quiet when he wishes to be and uses his powers to render people quieter.

yakumo’s absolutely the type to turn into a mother hen when others are sick but abysmally neglect his own needs when he gets sick.

sure, it doesn’t happen very often, but when it does he actually tries to do twice as much as usual to not fall behind on anything. he sleeps less and works more until his body can’t take it anymore and he collapses. luckily, the other clan members have usually figured out by this point what’s going on and force him to get some rest.

but the first time quincy and olivine found him passed out from exhaustion, feverish and shaking on the kitchen floor? he was in for one hell of a scolding.

as much as everyone hates scolding him (because yakumo hates getting in trouble for anything. he’ll start cowering with a miserable expression on his face like a soaking wet cat. it’s not an enjoyable experience for anybody) they felt it was absolutely necessary to let yakumo know that neglecting his own needs wasn’t going to fly! he spends so much time looking after others, it’s about time they returned the favour, no ifs ands or buts!

eiden, quincy and olivine can cook, quincy doesn’t mind cuddling with yakumo to keep him warm, aster and morvay make sure the mansion remains in tip top shape while he’s down and out, and edmond, garu and blade don’t mind paying visits to his hometown to assist his grandparents with anything they might need. yakumo really has nothing to worry about! the clan members have got it under control!

though, despite all this, yakumo still has a hard time recognizing when he’s pushing himself. more often than not quincy has had to resort to literally dragging him down the hall to his room, practically forcing him to get some rest. he’ll struggle as much as his weak body will let him the entire time, whining protests about how he’s ‘fine! i’m not even that tired! please just let me work a little bit longer!’ but if quincy’s anything, it’s stubborn as an ox with the strength to back it up.

you as the WolfBoyGuy and me as someone who has just recently seen the puppy light, do you have any tips or what you'd consider Required Reading to get a good grip on writing wolf boys? moreso karu than garu just because i personally have a hard time writing dudes with as much bluster and "doesn't tend to default to conventionally agreed on niceties". i have (admittedly mild) torments I'd like to put him through >_>

Anon is asking me about blorbo... I have been training for this for so long... behold now the ramblings of a man possessed by two wolves. I'll talk a bit about how I approach writing Karu and then include some curated recs.

It took me some time to really get going on wolfboy fics; I also found it challenging to handle Karu's characterization. Two big reasons why:

Tsunderes are just difficult to do if you're grounded in realism. It's a very 'anime' archetype and people don't behave quite like that. This makes it harder to naturally reach for reasonable/appropriate responses when putting the character in situations. The big want/think/say/do splits can also complicate straightforward scenarios (e.g. the character wants something and does what he needs to do in order to get it. This path is often closed to the tsundere).

The game gives little insight into Karu's inner world. NU: Carnival is very dialogue-heavy in its narrative. When we do get introspection, it's often Eiden-focused. This means we basically never get to see the thought process that leads Karu to act this way or that, except in the rare instances in which he talks to himself (like in some H scenes when he goes "ugh it feels so good but-").

The style that I ended up developing for my angry wolf boy writings follows these principles:

Keep him silly. This is because I fundamentally see Karu as a comical character. Yeah, his personality can be traced back to traumas and there's a lot of interesting stuff to explore in that regard, but I am not personally interested in that tbh. The reason I love him is the wacky nonsense and ridiculous behavior that we see in the game. It was at first sight for me. I didn't need depth and I still don't XD Any advice and references I provide are skewed by that. I have a preference for almost never taking him seriously.

Mind his 'narrativization' tendencies. Karu is comically very enamored by the idea/narrative that he's a mighty warrior with many great skills who will conquer humanity and who should be respected and served. On some level, he knows this isn't entirely true, so he will sometimes (try to) avoid situations that would bring attention to his shortcomings. But most often he's trying to prove himself and get others to share his narrative. When something or someone reinforces the narrative, he gets proud, pleased or happy-flustered. When something or someone goes against the narrative, he gets annoyed and angry-flustered. He is very good at ignoring reality, however. Even though he'll seemingly take exception to every little slight, he moves on very quickly and pretends nothing happened. And though he's stubborn, he's also willing to surrender, cut his losses and 'try another day' when he's foiled.

Mix his narrativization with the narration a lot. This kind of free indirect discourse is just my style in general, but with Karu I find myself using it more intensely, to such an extent that the narration can get quite dialogue-like in how it expresses his thoughts. When I want to portray a 'tsundere stumble' moment, I sometimes make the narration interrupt itself as Karu consciously aborts a line of thinking that would lead him to unacceptable conclusions.

Let him just be rude for no reason and with little consequence. Karu's default way of addressing and dealing with people (other than Kuya) is rudeness. At best, he attempts some form of condescension in which the reason he's doing something 'nice' is because you're so weak and he's so awesome or whatever. Most characters seem to simply not mind his behavior and, again, it's usually played for laughs anyway.

Bibliography of Karu Studies

Keep in mind that many Karu fics are kuyaru, and Karu in kuyaru is quite different from the core of the character, since he's uniquely eager to please Kuya. Still, even kuyarus can have some nice insight.

who let the dogs out has a lot of juicy Karu inner conflict, and it even explores the ways in which such hangups make him outwardly grumpier. Due to kuyaru, it ultimately leads him to a place of submission, but his initial thoughts are very in-character.

Baser Instincts is a kuyaru in which Kuya gets to see the pups in a new light, because they help him in a difficult situation. It's another great source of inspiration for Karu struggling to express his feelings.

Bow Down! explores how he might react to Eiden letting him top, in a very true-to-character way.

Lonely at the Top is Karu/Dante, which means you get to see Karu at his prickliest and most insufferable, and how that can be managed.

A Matter of Pride is a good example of the 'concessions' dynamic that can be done in Eiden/Karu.

Goshujin-Ai is an older Karu/Yakumo and a good example of Karu feeling comfortable and doing the 'attempts at condescension' thing I mentioned before.

Slave number one, rub my chest again is me speculating on what it might look like for Karu to ask Eiden to do things to him and try to control sex.

Warden slander wolf Commander is probably a good example of the 'fine I give up but I'll get you next time' potential of Karu, as well as the kind of bleed-heavy narration I talked about.

Master, do you have another wolf besides me?! delves into Karu's potential for jealousy as a way of expressing affection. It's pretty canon-compliant because most of it is adapted from NEON Carnival.

There are many other fics in the Karufic Archive, but I think the ones above are among the best for the purposes of thinking about the writing.
