Now that FictIf and The Arcana have been bought out by Dorian, I feel the need to remind y'all as the only person who's spoken out about this but;

Heir To Love And Lies is an extremely racist story to its core.

The love inrerests are either harmful stereotypes or key players on the violence and corruption here in Colombia.

Even if Nathalie has a Colombian father, she has failed to accurately represent the country, the spanglish abhorrent and the treatment of rural Colombia is one of the worst I've seen.

The MC is a white saviour stereotype and is such an awful character whom barely cares about the town; especially when their decisions will affect the livelihoods of workers.

Chava and his whole family are a huge stereotype of low income workers and farmers in the perifery. Their relationship with the drug cartel was unnecessary and insulting— especially when Colombian people already struggle with discrimination about being poor coca and marijuana farmers.

Sergio is literally the epitome of everything wrong with Colombia and shouldn't be romantisized as a love interest— especially as he is related to an assasination which happen in Colombia on the daily .

Val is part of the most corrupt, homophobic and racist institutions and attempting to make her a love interest makes me want to barf as an lgbt Colombian. Especially when I receive news on the daily of lgbt people getting abused by police. I'm glad her route never got released.

The whole story glorifies the foreign colonization of Colombia's economy; which have affected our country gravely— even leaving entire regions of ours in extreme poverty.

'La Dama Roja' is such an awfully constructed character; both character design and story-wise. Her dress is mexican right out of the bat. Her whole character crumbles apart once you actually learn about Colombian politics and culture.

The whole story is a complete regression for Colombian representation and a slap on the face for me, and many other latino users whom have shared their concerns privately to me. It perpetrates so many harmful stereotypes and completely misunderstands the intricacies of Colombia and its people. It ignores our pleas for positive rep after being thrown and dragged through the mud as a druggie country for upwards of fourty years and refuses to acknowledge that Colombia is more than just drugs and coffee.

If you want 'good' Colombian representation, you are much better off watching Encanto in spite of its issues.

If you want Colombian rep that is more mature leaning I would recommend;

Los Viajes Del Viento for a culturally accurate depiction of the north of Colombia

Señorita María: La Falda De La Montaña for a documentary about being lgbtq+ trans in rural Colombia

Los Colores De La Montaña for a depiction of how the drug war has affected innocent farmers in rural Colombia

These are all critically acclaimed movies that all tackle living in the small towns that HTLAL is supposed to be based upon and do a much better job at it.

Also, I've said this many times but I think it's worth mentioning that if you want a more in-depth representation of all the issues HTLAL fails to tackle respectfully, y'all should read The Rebellion of The Rats by Fernando Soto Aparicio

On top of the fact that the game was clearly written with a fem protagonist in mind, this game was written WITH A DUMB FUCK PROTAGONIST IN MIND. i’m talking real idiot, huge idiot, jump in the pile of red flag idiot. My favorite route was sergio, not because it was good but because mc was facing the most untrustworthy human on earth AND KEPT DOING WHAT HE ASKED-

Mc find evidence after evidence that the guy is shady and brush it off. At one point mc find a picture of them as a teenage paired with a picture of him with a heart glued on some random shit and they go ask him about it. Dude said « oh euh yeah your grandma made this cause she wanted to pair us » AND MC END WITH THAT. NO QUESTION AS TO WHY THIS DUDE STILL HAVE THIS ??? OR EVEN IF IT’S LEGIT FACT NO-

Anyway this is why the fake ending where sergio poison mc in the pool as my canon ending. Simply because it would make sense for his character. He fell in love with mc, got obsses about them, but in the end he always planned to make rhem dissapear for their inheritance so…. Bybyeeeee~

Could you write serigos reaction to an mc that actually calls bullshit? Like right after chapter 7 they decide to get a new lawyer and find a different, more reliable set of buyers for the plantation? Sergio's route was clearly rushed, so certain decisions made no sense, and I have a whole post in my drafts ranting about it (Man really got one ending, when there could have been an easy "bad" ending where MC doesn't figure out that Sergio killed Abuela??). As your partner, Sergio can admire your ability to call it as you see it. The opposite could be argued because he's sneaky, but I think he would like a strong character that wouldn't be afraid to speak their mind.

He's secretive, so when you're constantly calling him out for things that don't make sense he's scrambling to keep his secret under wraps. You're keeping him on his feet, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

He's quick to notice that things go much easier if he's just honest with you. He wonders if honesty really means that much to you, but doesn't push the subject if you don't want to answer

He enjoyed watching you go after the Chief though lol because honestly that man is full of bullshit and he would gladly let you loose on him.

If you do decide to pursue a relationship with him, it would definitely happen much slower than it did in the actual story. It would take time to build up trust because of how secretive he was before, but at least there would be a solid foundation

Whenever you ask him a question you add "And cut the bullshit." Before he can even start to answer. It surprised him the first couple of times but he quickly got used to it

The only time he really found it to be an issue is when you got to questioning Cook, and finding out about their relationship. You'll have to have a long (and exhausting) talk with him. He can be a pain in the ass so it will require patience on both ends.

Speaking of him being a pain in the ass, sometimes he'll do it on purpose to grind your gears on subjects that really aren't that important lol

When you raise the idea of looking for different buyers because you didn't like your current options, he can't blame you. He might be hesitant at first (because of the nature of Ferrer's work really. He doesn't want you to get more involved than you have to) but he'll give in eventually

When it comes to getting a different lawyer is where he's a bit more worried. He'll respect your decision, of course, but he still cares for the plantation and what will become of it.

I mean, he knows doesn't have to be your lawyer to continue your relationship. There could be different times where he could help out, but if you want to keep him out of selling the plantation then okay. He knows he can't force you. (This isn't Sergio from Chava's route ok)

It is really hard to keep on believing the devs of fictif when they say that they’re not only inclusive but that there’s not enough interest in female characters/routes. 1) that’s a lie. 2) it’s a bit hard for your audience to be interested and invested in female LI’s if you don’t give them a chance! It’s kinda obvious that the devs don’t really give a damn about non male characters. And I get that it takes a lot of time and effort to make these stories, but by saying Celia was only gonna get 7 chapters from the start, shows you didn’t want her to succeed. You cut Tess’s route than blamed the fandom for lack of interest. Val doesn’t even have her route yet. Elise was overshadowed by Sawyer. And all the other female LI’s that are featured in the other stories had more male LI’s to compete with. And don’t even get me started on the Echos Of Warmth story. This honesty makes me worried for the future on Anisa🥺

The only story that has a good balance of characters and screen time is FTLOG but the majority of that story is stuck behind a pay wall. And even after unlocking all of the scenes, it still felt a little rushed.

Just do better guys, it’s not that hard!

Oh I’m so glad you and plant anon agree with me on my vn red flags/icks! Like I said a lot of the red flags and icks I tend to have are really subjective so I get that some people will love what I kinda hate but it’s nice to see I’m not alone on stuff :)

Also, is it bad that I kinda wanna hear more about Heir to Love and Lie? I’ve never played any Fictif games but this sounds like some hot gossip I want in on, tell me more about how bad of a game it is lol. From an outsider perspective I think it’s kinda funny how it’s like “Yes the Fictif app has a bunch of great and fun stories with a ton of good content- NO DONT LOOK AT THAT STORY ITS HIDEOUS-” I know the stories are probably made by different teams so it makes sense that there’s differences in quality but still

Last Legacy and now Roadkill have peaked my interest since I’ve seen you talk about it here (I had never heard of Fictif at all before) but I’ve been a little hesitant to give the games a try because they’re mobile games and frankly I’m not the biggest fan of playing vn style games on mobile, I used to all the time but the grinding for stuff like story keys just to get content that may or may not be good kinda grated on me so I stopped and haven’t looked back. But idk maybe I’ll decide to give Fictif a chance when I have the time, your love for the games are definitely convincing me to give it a shot :)

Ok so i’ll start by saying that you should def play roadkil, last legacy and monster manor on the fictif app, WITH A CRACKED VERSION! If you have an Android play with a mod app and you won’t have to pay for the special choice ( you still have to wait for keys tho but it’s manageable) I personally use Modyolo. With the mod there is no grind, you just wait for your keys to regenerate to play the chapters.

Why you should play last legacy ? Last legacy is a really well written fantasy romance made by queers, for queers with good queers characters. The narrative is limited but realize that fans of this game haven’t had update in 2 years and we all still love this, that how good the game is for us. What I really appreciate is the approach of the romance, the well-written worldbuilding, and the interesting plot and evolution of the li throughout the story + bonus points the art is really pretty + the music is awesome

This is an otome where you feel the passion of the dev because of all the details and care they put into the characters. It sad that we’ll never get an ending but just because it’s my second favorite otome after Our life i really recomand.

Now another wonderful story on the app is Monster manor. It’s a reviseted tale of beauty and the beast where mc is a reparator that come helps the resident of the manor to fix the place and also fix their issue. Again it’s very well written and although you can get subtile subtext on romance this one is very axed on exploring the character's mental health and their story of self-improvement. ALSO IT HAS A CANON TRANS DRAGON CREATURE WHO’S THE SWEETEST I LOVE HIM HE’S SO WHOLESOME-

Bonus the music is so good i even added it on my spotify- and good art

Monster Manor is one of those stories that leave a very specific feeling in you. I don't know how to describe it but it just has a lot of wholesomeness and character going troughs sad but relatable problems that you see get better and makes you happy that they're healing.

THE BROMANCE OF THIS GAME IS SO GOOD I swear

Objectively: This game feels like a wild mess of fan fiction with random scenario after scenario and cliché horror moments, but oh man the ambiance. The best trio of Li, they are close friends, and in the 3 routes the group is just such an amazing friend group. The characters are lovely and it's like reading a bad yet good wattpad fanfic : well written ? no ? But the ideas ? good !

Like i said, this game is based on cliché of horror movies but also on american culture ( which I learned trought this game lol ). It has longer chapters than the other two games (except Tess but Tess got hit by the sexism of a greedy company that wants shirtless men in dating sim to attract gurls ) BUT they all shine.

Poe's route had me ugly crying in the end, Howie's ending is AWFULL but I had a great time, Tess is actually a superbe F Li even whith the dev having to cut her short and ruin her ending, she shine very britgh in the other routes and her own ( for ex she's the one with a shotgun and the one that won you and howie a teddy bear )

I really need more people to play roadkill because it's an underated banger in my opinion and it has many great scenes in the mess of scenarios ( the intro is really good for ecxemple )

Like, when I say not all game needs to be well written? That's what I'm talking about, this one is a hot delightful mess

summery: The morning after your wedding is spent with quiet conversation about the future in an intimate moment.

The deep rumble of his humming woke you up first, then his thumb massaging circles into your thigh. He was warm against you, and you wiggled closer to him with a sleepy sigh, head ducking into the crook of his neck. You didn’t know what time it was but you could hear the birds chirping outside, the salty air made you smile more. It reminded you of home. The room was still completely dark, the blackout curtains did what they were supposed to do, you were grateful for that much. “‘S too early,” you mumbled, earning a soft laugh.

“Morning, cariño,” he pulled you even closer and you wrapped a leg around him, grinning happily. He was your husband now, and you, his wife. “Good morning, Mr. Jimenez,” you mumbled into his chest. He chuckled, a deep rumble in the back of his throat that made your toes curl. “Good morning, Mrs. Jimenez.” You leaned your head back enough to look at him and you grinned even harder. You got to wake up like this every morning for the rest of your life. Nothing seemed better than that.

“Can we just lay here like this for a while?” You layed your head back on your pillow and pouted up at him. He smiled and let his hands roam your body. The intimacy of the moment made you melt in his hands. “I’d like nothing more.” You grinned again and craned your neck to kiss him, which he returned happily. You rested your hands on his bare chest and closed your eyes again, just imagining the two of you sitting on your porch in rocking chairs, drinking coffee and watching the plantation light up with the sun.

“Do you think we’ll be like this in forty, fifty years?” You tapped your finger on his sternum and he looked down at you with a curious look. “What do you mean?”

“Will we still be us, when we’re eighty?” You looked up at him, you’d never seen him so peaceful. “Yea, I think we will. I definitely know I’ll still roll my eyes when you tell dirty jokes.” He laughed and you did too, you knew that that was never going to end. His laughter always seemed to make the tips of your ears burn red, even more so when you knew he was laughing because of you.

“Oh, my love, I know you’ll be even more beautiful when your grey, your glow even brighter, and you’ll still light up my world.” He smiled again and pressed a kiss to your forehead.

“And you’ll be just as handsome as ever,” you smiled and kissed his nose quickly, just a peck. He smiled again, full of love, and he tucked a strand of hair out of your face. “And mischievous,” you kissed the corner of his mouth. “And romantic,” your hand dragged further down and he shivered. “And you’ll be all mine.” Your hand rested on his pelvis and you grinned again.

“Such a tease,” he grumbled, but he still had that adoring look on his face. “I’m sure that won’t change either.” You shook your head and smiled innocently. Your other hand came up to cup his cheek and he leaned into it. The band of your ring was cold against his skin and he smiled. The two of you layed in bed for a while, just basking in each other, the love you two had for each other. Thoughts of long walks on the beach, breakfast, and the days outing forgotten for just a while in the quiet of the bedroom
