No I know that, it’s incredibly obvious that he’s intellectually disabled, even emotionally yes, b/c of the stuff he has done & said. But THIS??? This is way way wayyy too much. He self-destructed right before the world’s eyes!!!

But you make a damn good point that I didn’t even think about- MM is a failure in HW by every account but by marrying into the world’s most famous family & to 1 of the most “eligible” bachelors (I use that word extremely loosely b/c even before MM, I didn’t really think of him as eligible) but she got through to him & mind-controls him every step.

All the details sound as if they were out of Finding Freedom, the book Meghan ghostwrote with Scobie. 

The Elizabeth Arden cream used on his frozen appendage, Kate’s lipgloss, denying bullying the staff because Meghan allegedly gave them expensive stuff, blaming Will & Kate for the Nazi costume, W&K allegedly being fans of Suits (!!!), etc. I mean ridiculousness just goes on... 

It’s the same level of detail of finding out how Meghan peed in the bush in Botswana in Finding Freedom!!!

This isn’t Harry self-destructing on his own. This is Meghan score-settling via his autobiography and (maybe) setting up her divorce narrative with this book. 

Harry was a womanizing cad who stepped out on Chelsy. A girl he was actually in love with at one time. No way was he so intimidated at the possibility of meeting Meghan that he peed his pants the day of their first date. This is a guy who has allegedly slept with and briefly dated Margot Robbie. Dusted off my aph Botswana design and gave him 1) some friends and 2) a human name! Meet Seretse Motswaledi

a bunch of headcanons and such under the cut

The given name Seretse is the same as the first president of independent Botswana, Seretse Khama. I’m no expert on the history there, but I really liked the sound of the name “Seretse.” Motswaledi is borrowed from Gomolemo Motswaledi, another politician who founded the Botswana Movement for Democracy in 2010. Wikipedia is obviously a questionable source of information but apparently Mr. Motswaledi was also a music composer, which seemed appropriate for my OC

His general look (read: the cowboy hat) was inspired by the impossibly cool heavy metal subculture of Botswana, but I want to be clear that Botswana the character is neither exclusively into metal music nor is a particularly cool person lol. He in fact loves all music genres with a passion to rival Austria’s and mostly likes the goth cowboy look to feel badass.

Unlike Austria, he’s not really a natural talent when it comes to music and doesn’t have much of a head for composition, but he loves it enough to have become really good at several instruments. He’s got a good sense of rhythm so he’s pretty good at drums, and he also plays the segaba, which is a string instrument native to Botswana that I have no idea how to accurately describe the sound of so go look it up if you’re curious.

In theory, this man really likes rain. He likes seeing things grow. He likes it when the weather cooperates with his farmers since Botswana is prone to drought. He likes how cool thunderstorms look.

In practice, he really, really does not like rain. He behaves like a cat if he gets wet and is a huge fussy baby about it.

India is one of his closest pals outside of Africa; IRL, these countrys established relations early on after gaining independence from England, and though I did say Botswana is not meant to be particularly cool, these two definitely could bond over the knowledge that at least they’re way cooler than England lmao. They also have a mutual pal in South Africa, who I should probably draw them with some time, there’s lots of great South Africa designs

Russia is another country that was early to establish relations with Botswana, but on a character level, they haven’t known each other long enough for Botswana to have all the baggage of so much history as is the case with Russia’s neighbours. Without that old fear, Botswana is free to find Russia’s personality an endearing sort of odd instead of finding him a bit creepy. This also means Russia feels comfortable teasing him without as much risk of stumbling into genuinely hurtful territory, hence the above image of Botswana being a baby about the cold.

His ugly pink puffer jacket is very much inspired by Spike Spiegel on my part, but he has no idea who that is. Japan saw him in it one time and was very sorely tempted to ask where the hell he had gotten it (Russia gave it to him when he was under-dressed for Moscow) but he didn’t think they were close enough on either a personal or geopolitical level to be so impolite.

I actually think the Africa play could have raised MM’s profile in Hollywood but it would have required some actual work lol. If they had extended the had cut the drama in SA, spent those weeks in Botswana filming a documentary on wild life or land mines or whatever submitted to the awards etc it would have been a great entry to HW that would have shown them as serious, while using their royal credibility. Now they are just drama llamas with no concrete work to show.

Africa could have given them a good brand, particularly after the SA tour. She wanted LA though.

Belonging to Violet Quartz along with 2 other pearls Fuchsia also fought in the war with Mint Sapphire and became her best friend. She covers her eyes so she cant express emotions like her owner. She admires the Diamond Authority along with Mint Sapphire.

So yeah metal band AU! My Botswana OC you’ve got as the frontman there was already inspired by the badass heavy-metal subculture in Botswana which is 10/10 worth a google search, so this was an easy logical leap. Seychelles’ look was meanwhile inspired by Babymetal, and @ask-mauritius‘ ridiculously handsome Mauritius OC there on the right is based off James Hetfield and other nice simple classic metalhead looks

This is riffing off a 2009 Rolling Stone cover which featured Green Day, who, while neither African nor a metal group, have some a+ magazine covers. This one specifically was great because it had a flag in it - the one Mauritius is holding is the flag of the African Union, which all three are member states in.
