hi internet
i know there's a very small percentage of likelihood that anyone will see this, but that's kind of the point. today i've been reminded again of the amount of performativism we all, as young users of the internet, partake in. this has prompted me to trust some of my protective instincts and delete most social media, but, at the same time, it has made me want to act on this performativism the most, so here i am, acting on it, ignoring the signals of "omfg dont do this" that the rational part of my brain is sending and just make a giant fucking public journal entry of my thoughts in the moment.
i watched cj the x's most recent video on bo burnham, it was honestly really emotionally draining (2h30 of talking about how social media is infiltrating the minds of young people and modifying their responses and behaviors will do that i guess). i'm generally a pretty internet oriented person, i've been on here since i was a tiny child, and my view of it is not exactly great morally, i think social media might just be the worst medium by which humans have ever expressed emotion. its all for profit. we know this. platforms aren't really made for us they're made for others to profit off of our attention. i've been conscious of that for a bit. that's why earlier this year i changed all my methods of internet usage to exclude google.
people asked me why i did it, and my usual response is smt about privacy or the like, but every single person i've met and talked to about it seemed to think that was kind of weird :"what privacy do you want exactly? do you have something to hide ? is there a reason for us to do this when ads being targeted to us are made to improve our life"(yes that was a real line quite a few people told me) and i had no response to that other than "it creeps me out to think somebody else has that much info on me, info i don't even know myself". i think i have a better answer now though
i don't want my life to be a commodity
i don't want my life to be something to be sold to the highest bidder
i know it doesn't have that much value, but i feel like caving in to all the small things collected about you over the years you've been online is a bit of an affront to your dignity
you are human
your life, relationships, experiences and emotions deserve respect
its not a question of law its a question of making profit on the back of somebody that doesn't even know where that profit might come from
whenever i think about my internet usage i feel soulless
i honestly don't quite know where that comes from
i just want to be able to exist, online and offline without feeling the existential dread that comes with not being performative
i don't post, but i do narrate everything i do in my head like i am
i don't interact online, but i know that any algorithm can figure out what i'd like to see next and i feel almost violated
i don't trust this perpetual sense of danger, i guess, that comes with existing online
i've met so many incredible people through it
i've discovered so many interests, learned so many new things
why does that have to be monetized, used, why do i have to live my life without using social media or interacting with anyone who does to relieve this sword of damoclès hanging above my head
i just want to not
i want this to not happen to people who are starting to use the internet
i want them to be able to live without constantly feeling like they're being watched
why do we all want to go live in the woods without social interaction or any pressure? isn't it because we've had enough ?
tumblr may be the least of the offenders, but it's still on the list, its still taking advantage of all of us
worst thing is we cant really get off of social media anymore, all our lives are built around it, built on it. i want to go ahead and delete everything so badly i cant even express it, but i still have school online, i have people trying to reach me online, i cant use a map and i don't have a watch, i don't think i able to get off this shit until i'm at least 26, with enough money to go in a small village with no internet and no cell service and live the rest of my life on the money i have, selling whatever i make there
i want my generation and the following generations to be ok, but maybe that isn't possible right now with the tools we have
we don't know where to start to enact change
its all too much at once
we shouldn't quit just yet but if you feel like its too much as well, learn to take a break, just go be one with the silence of reality
go touch grass or whatever
this is all unimportant, i'm not making this because it has any value, but i do think my thoughts deserve to be written down somewhere accessible, as do yours, as do everyone's, not all the time, but when it feels like the right time
have a nice day

hello !!! ive been too shy to send this till now but im thinking that ill be sending an extremely long message to you ! hopefully i won't reveal myself !!! i love you a lot like words can not express how thankful i am to you and to your posts and to your blog and hey it's okay. you don't have to do anything, your existence itself is enough and is good. you are loved greatly, and im so sorry i didn't say anything till now but i love you. greatly. extremely. more than mere words can describe (1/?)
or more than i, myself, can properly ever express ! i love you a lot and you are loved and cherished deeply and greatly. and whatever you decide, ill always support you. i believe that you can kick ass with your criminology course and i believe that you can shatter the very universe and reach the sky, and i firmly believe in this. you’re strong and i love you very much. thank you for your hard work and for making such beautiful content even when you don’t have time and is busy. it’s okay (2/?)even if you don’t make a lot of content nowadays, it’s okay to take a break. it’s okay to be in a funk. it’s okay to not want to do anything. it’s okay to give yourself some time and just let yourself go. it’s okay. your gifs may not do as well as before, but hey! think about this!! whenever i see your gifs on my dash, i immediately know it’s yours. i think your gifs are these pockets of joy and loveclouds and i genuinely mean this. they are always so pretty and so perfectly timed and (3/?)well-made. like seriously !! they always look so wonderful and idk how your hands can do it. like bless you ! i love you very much. thank you for your constant hard work really! i can not like commend you in ways i want to cause my words is lacking but i really just wanted to tell you that your blog is special. and that i absolutely love you here, but really, you should do what you want. what makes you the happiest. what gives you the most ease and comfort. please always put yourself (4/?)before others ! you deserve it !!! you really do!! anyhow i just wanted to tell you that i love and cherish your greatly and that thank you so much for all that you do. you’re doing well. you have been doing well. and i know that you will continue to do well, so give yourself a little more credit, and be kinder to yourself. you’re a lovely starbeam and i love you very much! thank you once again!! im sorry hah this is REALLY LONG! ill leave with a pickup line! are you French.. CAUSE MADAM! (5/5)
well firstly, thank u for this very thoughtful and kind message. i did not expect something like this!!
i rly didnt make that post to guilt-trip anyone into messaging me, following me, sending an ask, etc., i just really dont think anyone cares about me or would miss me if i deactivated. friends, sure, but w/friends ive made on here i have added on other social media so i dont think they could really “miss” me bc they see my dumbass posting mingyu pics on my insta story because of this, i think about doing that a lot lately
i dont really even know why it bothers me so much (my posts underperforming); its just a site. and ive even held myself back from making gifs even though i tell myself “no one’s giffed it yet” and i want to gif it,, it’s bc my effort seems futile. it sounds sad but i feel like ““my time”” as a content creator here is up…you know? like trends. some people and things just arent it anymore, i guess. ive also really become tired of the internet dramas and inter-fandom dramas. drama is unavoidable online or not but i do find myself being stressed out by things that dont even directly involve me lol. and i’m still into seventeen/still love them btw, this isnt abt them
..maybe part of my change in perspective on this is due to being in college + doing commissions n stuff for spare cash here and there. so one downside to that (or upside depending on how you look at it) i dont really feel like doing loads of free work in exchange for no payment. its such a capricorn thing to say but i’ve found that i really like creating youtube videos, and since i can make a profit on those–bc my channel finally got approved for monetization :’’’)–maybe my brain likes the idea of that more lmao (………heres my channel btw)
its really nice to hear you like the things i make and thats its also recognizable. i try to make gifs “current” or whatever but also my own. i create because i have to. its bad for my mental health not to
my blog’s been mostly inactive for the last week and i did notice that i felt a lot better. this week was really good–in a lot of ways. i still want to make things. i unfollowed tags and stuff so i wont even check if somethings been giffed. i’ll just do it, i think. im hoping if i change things i can still be on here and enjoy it.
thank u for all the kind words, this is really encouraging + comforting. i hope this response was adequate..and i also hope you had a nice week. i still want to try because of people like u 💞ily 💞

The FIX - Bren
Tumblr media
I’ve been doing YouTube for a LONG time now, well 8 years certainly sounds like a long time to me.. but eerily doesn’t feel like a long time. We’ve been through so many changes and trails, trying different things, making movies, TV shows, Interviews, Press events... you name it, as a content creator for the video game community I’ve made it. I’ve always wanted to be a successful youtuber when it came to video-games, these days that usually means you have to figure out a silly name and play lots of games and make a fool of yourself (and yeah i’ve done that too). A youtube star is someone that has millions of followers, uploads daily, sometimes twice daily, but I have none of those things... does that mean i’m not successful? I dont’ think so. I’ve conducted interviews with lead game designers, been to top tier invite only press functions, had 2 shows on UK TV for video games, a movie, and run an active community driven youtube channel that has a great gathering of awesome people. So why is it that I feel like I’ve failed somehow? is it because I didn’t find the right audience? is it because I didn’t get launched to super stardom for my time as a games journalist... would I even want that if it came knocking... i’m not even sure I would like it to be honest. It's strange, I've always felt like I’ve wanted to be successful in making video content, films, art, always wanted to entertain and make something that would make someone say “wow” and I have done that, but on a small scale.
Now on Youtube I see things are very different, attention spans are miniscule, kids are starting channels left right and centre, no knowledge of how to frame a good shot, how to use a decent microphone, no knowledge on how to make a proper video... vertical videos of cats being dicks, fail videos, pranks, challenges, all of that stuff to me is benine crap,  redundant. I feel the same about reality TV and how most formats prey on schadenfreude( german phrase meaning "to take pleasure in anothers missfortune") I find it nausiating that television, for the most part, has become so mundane, fuelled by adverts and les than average production values. I recently watched a shocking piece of output form the BBC where they seem to have forgotten that sound levels are important... as well as whitebalance and did the OP forget his tripod? Hand held is ok, but this chap looked like he'd had a bit too much rum in his coffee that morning.
Anyway, back to Youtube. I'm a part of a few "small youtuber" groups on facebook, basically if you don't have 500,000 subs these days you are considered to be pretty small time. And in these groups I see thousands of the same posts everyday "yay i got 20 subs" or "how many views do i need before i can monetize." and the best one "sub for sub anyone?" honestly pretty much everyone on those groups that i've looked at (except one or two) literally have no fucking idea what they are doing and couldn't make a video if it meant saving their own life. Time and time again I see the same shit, constantly. It honestly makes me Wince at the thought that these kids are about to embark on the most dissapointing crusade of thier lives.  I started youtube in 2009 and it was a bloody good time to do so as there were pretty much no such thing as lets plays or video game shows etc... we had an amazing show, 4 presenters, heavily edited reviews, sketches, comedy! And best of all we were in with the big boys, interviewing people I never thought i'd ever get to meet!  "But Bren, why didn't you just keep going with that?" Well, thats a whole different story and i'll just sum it up by saying there were differences of opinion and it fell apart.
Starting GameGazmTV was very freeing... I had decided that I needed a platform where I didn't care too much about what content I put on it... I had boxed up my camera equipment and used a phone to film most of the stuff for it... we slapped half naked manga girls all over it with flames and rock music in the hope that we would offend someone enough to just come and look at the channel... even the name "GameGazm" was fucking ridiculous. It wasn't long before we started to slowly change everything. Removing the semi naked girls, and some "dead weight" and started to clean up the brand... but it didn't do anything really.. I started to slip back into the "everything must be good" routine, so started heavily editing videos again, making bigger productions, adding more visual effects to everything... graphical updates, weekly updates, started doing let's plays for more content, live streams... then by year 4 we changed the name fully to Ministry of Gamers in the hope of finally shedding the GameGazm crappy beginnings. And now I've suddenly realised... that I hate most of it... I look back at a lot of our content and pretty much 90% of it I could throw in the bin and no one would bat an eyelid. The content I love the most on our channel is 2 videos... Solstice and Top Gun. 2 videos that I think are actually really worth watching... the rest of them i'm not that bothered about... but solstice and top gun both took 6 weeks each to make... thats a lot of time... and then the most successful video on our channel is a video about a fucking controller that we shot in an hour because we thought "why not" I couldn't give a crap about that controller... but its the only video that i've spent the least amount of time on and its the most successfull thing ive ever made.... talk about a kick in the teeth... thats some way to really get yourself down.
Up until this point if you asked me is YouTube worth doing, should I start a channel? I would have said " yeah its really fun to do, and totally worth it." but ask me right now? i'd say "no... don't do it.. its really not worth the stress you'll put yourself through, its not worth seeing comments like "shut up and stop reviewing games you fat cunt." on a video that you spent DAYS writing, recording, editing.  Its not worth making any video that takes you longer than an hour to do, because honestly... your effort is the last thing youtube gives a crap about." Youtube does not care if you stayed up for a week straight slaving over an edit, making sure your colours are good, sound is balanced, Youtube doesn't care if you spent days crafting a CGI intro for your channel, making custom graphics, building a brand! It DOESN'T CARE... but make a controller video, slap it up, and youtube will give you £300 and a pat on the head..... great... just film your cat doing something retarded and you'll be a millionaire in no time. don't worry about talent... its not required here.
Basically youtube isn't the kind of platform I would like to be on. But not being on Youtube is like saying "I don't want to be on the biggest viewing platform available." throughout my video carrer I've only ever really been interested in making content about videogames. It's my passion so what else would I do? I have a couple of thoughts about other avenues I could explore. But if I really cared about them then I would have been doing it already. No I still care about making content for videogames but now its time to change the focus... change the direction because something has to change... i'm no longer going to use youtube as a platform to give content thats about something else.. i'm going to make it about ME and my team as people, its not a show anymore. I want it to document OUR struggle, OUR journey through a project, how we as people are focused on making entertainment. Youtube doesn't need another gaming channel, it needs to hear about how crushingly difficult it is to get anywhere with content creation, and thats where I want to be now. I'll be working on something I really care about, and i'll provide updates to that on youtube.
I can't keep going the way I have been, a constant viscious circle of dissapointment and failiure, over and over. I'm done trying to fill a gap that just doesn't need to be filled. There are other ways I can use my time and thats the most precious thing to all of us.. becasue there really isnt' that much of it.
Why have I written this? I guess to just put it all down somehwere other than my head.. the more I write at the moment the more I feel it leaving me.. literally like ive turned a tap on and the water was filthy and its slowly starting to clear up. My main point to all of this though was to fully understand why i'm so successful at failing, I make incredible work that never gets anywhere and no one really cares that much about, but its still MY work, and even if only one person sees it and is entertained by it, then to me, i've won. So in closing, I am a youtuber, and a fucking successful one.  And no one really knows it...... yet, and of course i'll never give up, I firmly believe I have something to offer a wide audience, i'm not quite sure what that is yet, but I feel like its my mission to figure it out, I owe it to myself to keep trying! and always give my best. Take pride in what you do, and if you believe in something enough, you will get it... after a long bitter road of absolute mental turmoil.... you'll get it.

Type in “Critical Beats” on Google and also...
youtube
Type in “Critical Beats” on Google and also you’ll get approximately 450.000 results. The web is swamped with online producers who make beats and also sell it from their sites. As well as I obtain it!
It’s super simple to create songs nowadays and also place it on a site. Social media makes it feasible for manufacturers to connect to 10.000’s of musicians without having to spend a buck on marketing. Envision the number of people they can connect to when they throw in a pair dollars for marketing.
Yet what concerning the Musicians?
It’s 2017 and even though there are a lot of producers and also 100.000’s of critical beats to locate on the internet the artists are
NOT HAPPY!
“ Why?”.
OVERSATURATION!
The battle of investing hours on that ‘vibe-killing’ look for the perfect beat. Having to go over 200 instrumentals before finding one they in fact such as and also is of good quality.
With the substantial development of on the internet producers, came a massive growth of low-quality, not inspiring and also uninteresting brand-new instrumental beats.
After doing some research among a couple of hundred of my e-mail clients and also fans, I put together a list of the most prominent sites to discover critical beats. Whether you’re a new artist or have already spent years on the web seeking instrumentals for your songs tasks.
These are the most preferred sites where manufacturers socialize in 2017 and where you are most likely to locate what you’re searching for.
To quicken the procedure of discovering high quality songs, I’ve additionally consisted of some practical filtering tips for some platforms.
5 websites to discover critical beats for your next task.
Google.
Certainly, Google will certainly offer you 100.000’s of search results page, however this will certainly likewise consist of article, video’s from YouTube or obsolete online forum conversations.
You might be amazed that I provided Google just 3 celebrities on search results. Nonetheless, this is not all Google’s mistake!
A great deal of manufacturers are, what I call, lazy. (No disrespect!).
They will certainly associate with an already existing platform, instead of spend money in developing their own web site. Actually, a great deal of producers on Soundclick or YouTube don’t even have an own website.
For those who do make adequate loan to produce an own web site presumably have top quality product.
You will locate one of the most preferred producers on the very first 3-4 web pages of Google.
Filter suggestions:.
Slim the search by searching for details styles. Like, 'R&B Instrumental Defeats’ or 'Hip hop Defeats’. Add '2017’ to your search to reveal one of the most current instrumental beats. Like, 'R&B Instrumental Beats 2017’.
YouTube.
There’s a fight going on in 'Manufacturer Globe’ now. Where Soundclick formerly was the requirement for marketing crucial beats online, the power of YouTube is now overruling Soundclick’s standing. Manufacturers are dealing with to hop on page 1 for the most preferred keywords.
When YouTube comes to be the criterion for producers, this will instantly bring along reduced- or less-talented producers. This makes it hard ahead throughout good quality critical beats. The good news is, YouTube knows you probably better than you know yourself.
YouTube has the biggest seeing count daily as well as is continuously updating their algorithm. They use one of the most advanced techniques to reveal you top quality results while searching their site.
As an example; When you search for 'R&B Instrumental Defeats,’ YouTube keeps track of that. The next time you go to the site, they will certainly show you advised video clip’s based on your most recent tasks.
So every recently published video that is related to 'R&B Instrumental Beats’ or preferred video’s regarding 'R&B Instrumental Defeats’ will be advised to you by YouTube.
Oh yeah, also when you dislike an important you encounter, YouTube will certainly ensure not to suggest another video clip of that exact same manufacturer to you in the future. Pretty cool, right?
YouTube does not allow you to filter results by Style or state of mind, so use these filter suggestions to limit the search.
Filter tips:.
Look for your favourite 'Artist kind beat.’ If you’re a follower of Chris Brown. Search for 'Chris Brown Kind Beat.’. Add '2017’ to your search to show one of the most current critical beats. Like, 'Chris Brown Kind Beat 2017’. Add a state of mind to a genre. Like, 'Tough Hip hop Defeats,’ 'Smooth R&B Crucial beats’ or 'Em otional R&B Defeats’.
Soundclick.
Soundclick.com is probably 'THE" web site to look for instrumental beats, however I have actually mentioned it prior to; I’m NOT a fan!.
Their site hasn’t been updated because 1999 or something like that. It simply became the typical years back and also it has actually made quite the name online back in the day.
Every 'brand-new producer’ starts on Soundclick. (So did I, to be sincere!).
There are a lot of crucial attack there, but a lot of them lack top quality.
“ It’s not all that negative!”.
In order to discover the very best top quality songs, you need to have a look at the Leading 50 beats in the 'Beats/Instrumental Graphes.’.

When I search for important beats on Soundcloud, I constantly appear to stumble upon the exact same outcomes.

For instance, they have various graphes on their site. For all music categories. Yet not one for instrumental songs.
It’s difficult finding something that you such as up there, and there’s no filter option to reveal outcomes sorted by upload day. Only by uploaded 'Past Week’ or 'Past Month.’.
Do not waste time looking for instrumental beats up there. There are far better systems to discover what you’re trying to find.

Key in “Critical Beats” on Google and also you’ll obtain about 450.000 results
The net is overloaded with online producers that make beats as well as sell it from their websites. And also I obtain it!
It’s very easy to produce music nowadays and place it on a web site. Social network makes it possible for manufacturers to reach out to 10.000’s of musicians without needing to spend a dollar on marketing. Envision the variety of people they can connect to when they throw in a pair bucks for marketing.
However what concerning the Musicians?
It’s 2017 as well as although there are so many manufacturers as well as 100.000’s of crucial beats to find on-line the artists are
NOT HAPPY!
” Why?”.
OVERSATURATION!
The battle of costs hrs on that ‘vibe-killing’ search for the excellent beat. Needing to go over 200 instrumentals before finding one they in fact such as and also is of top quality.
With the massive growth of online manufacturers, came a huge development of low-quality, not inspiring and uninteresting brand-new important beats.
After doing some research study among a few thousand of my email subscribers as well as fans, I create a checklist of one of the most preferred web sites to find crucial beats. Whether you’re a brand-new musician or have actually already spent years on the internet searching for instrumentals for your songs jobs.
These are the most popular web sites where producers hang around in 2017 and where you are probably to find what you’re searching for.
To accelerate the process of discovering top quality songs, I have actually likewise included some handy filtering tips for some systems.
5 sites to locate critical beats for your following project.
Google.
Of course, Google will certainly provide you 100.000’s of search engine result, but this will certainly also consist of post, video clip’s from YouTube or obsolete forum discussions.
You might be stunned that I gave Google just 3 celebrities on search engine result. Nevertheless, this is not all Google’s fault!
A lot of producers are, what I call, careless. (No disrespect!).
They will affiliate with a currently existing platform, rather than spend money in building their own internet site. In fact, a lot of producers on Soundclick or YouTube don’t even have an own website.
For those who do make sufficient money to produce an own web site presumably have top quality product.
You will certainly find one of the most popular manufacturers on the very first 3-4 web pages of Google.
Filter ideas:.
Slim the search by looking for particular styles. Like, ‘R&B Instrumental Defeats’ or ‘Hip jump Defeats’. Add ‘2017’ to your search to show the most recent instrumental beats. Like, ‘R&B Instrumental Defeats 2017’.
YouTube.
There’s a battle going on in ‘Manufacturer Globe’ now. Where Soundclick previously was the standard for marketing important beats online, the power of YouTube is currently voiding Soundclick’s condition. Manufacturers are fighting to jump on page 1 for the most preferred keywords.
When YouTube ends up being the requirement for producers, this will immediately bring along reduced- or less-talented manufacturers. This makes it hard to find across high quality crucial beats. Fortunately, YouTube knows you probably much better than you know on your own.
YouTube has the largest going to matter each day and also is regularly updating their algorithm. They use the most sophisticated methods to reveal you top notch results while searching their website.
For instance; When you search for ‘R&B Instrumental Defeats,’ YouTube tracks that. The following time you see the site, they will show you suggested video clip’s based upon your most current activities.
So every recently uploaded video that relates to ‘R&B Instrumental Defeats’ or popular video clip’s about ‘R&B Instrumental Beats’ will certainly be suggested to you by YouTube.
Oh yep, also when you dislike a crucial you encounter, YouTube will ensure not to recommend another video of that very same producer to you in the future. Pretty cool, right?
YouTube does not permit you to filter results by Category or mood, so use these filter suggestions to limit the search.
Filter suggestions:.
Look for your favourite ‘Musician type beat.’ If you’re a follower of Chris Brown. Look for ‘Chris Brown Type Beat.’. Include ‘2017’ to your search to show the most recent instrumental beats. Like, ‘Chris Brown Kind Beat 2017’. Include a state of mind to a genre. Like, ‘Hard Hip hop Defeats,’ ‘Smooth R&B Important beats’ or ‘Em otional R&B Beats’.
Soundclick.
Soundclick.com is most likely ‘THE” web site to search for crucial beats, yet I have actually stated it before; I’m NOT a follower!.
Their site hasn’t been updated considering that 1999 or something like that. It just ended up being the basic years back and it has actually made quite the name online in the past.
Every ‘brand-new producer’ begins on Soundclick. (So did I, to be sincere!).
There are a lot of important attack there, but a great deal of them lack high quality.
” It’s not all that bad!”.
In order to discover the most effective quality music, you need to look into the Top 50 beats in the ‘Beats/Instrumental Charts.’.
Producers enter the Instrumental Charts by paying for advertising and marketing. Probably, they make adequate money to acquire these advertisements so they probably have good enough songs for musicians to make a decision to purchase it.
The internet site is pretty easy to browse with and you can search by various style from the homepage.
Soundcloud.
When I search for crucial beats on Soundcloud, I always seem to stumble upon the exact same outcomes.
While Soundcloud is a significant platform for (unsigned) musicians, they do not actually use filteringed system search results page for details keywords.
As an example, they have various graphes on their website. For all musical categories. However not one for instrumental music.
It’s hard finding something that you such as up there, and also there’s no filter option to show outcomes arranged by upload day. Only by uploaded ‘Past Week’ or ‘Past Month.’.
Don’t waste time searching for critical batter there. There are far better platforms to find what you’re looking for.
BeatStars.
Beatstars.com is really starting to go far on their own when it comes to bringing musicians and also manufacturers together. They have actually created a platform on which collaborating is made extremely easy. Manufacturers can submit their instrumentals up there and also monetize their content via them, while musicians can publish their tunes up there and do the same.
The features as well as solutions offered for manufacturers are actually great and also a great deal of the online producers will possibly register with BeatStars.com soon.
Which makes it THE site for artists to look around for brand-new important beats.
While it’s still in the process of optimizing their systems, the navigating features are amazing. They know the issues artists are having problem with and have some really awesome attributes to make it easy to locate music for your following tasks.
You can browse by Category, Subgenre, State Of Mind, Defeats with chorus and BPM.
When you rise to a manufacturer’s account you can also open up a writing tab where you can jot down lyrics that stand out into mind while paying attention to a beat. LOL that’s just crazy.
Likewise, you can make a deal on the Exclusive Rights to a beat quickly from a producer’s profile.
Just recently, BeatStars asked their individuals to purchase BeatStars to additionally optimise their systems as well as hire even more personnel and they have actually managed to raise over $150.000 in funds.
I think about BeatStars an internet site sort of like SoundClick, however 50 times better and with recurring optimizations to make life simpler for both musicians as well as manufacturers. In a few years, they will probably be the ‘Go-To’ site for critical beats.
3 celebrities for the search results page because at this time they are still in development. A great deal of great music to locate up there, yet lots of manufacturers are still connected with various other companies as well as sites. They’ll switch over soon, I’m quite sure.
Let’s sum up the outcomes!

Its fair to say the smartphone camera has becomethe digital tool of most use, rendering the average persons camera roll essentially amemory buffer where carefully composed photographs rub up againstsnaps of receipts, funny stuff you saw on the street and fanciedsharing with friends, and, sometimes, snippetsof text you came acrossin a (paper) bookand wanted to make a note of. Snapping a photo in that moment isa stand in for the lack of real-world copy and paste.
And its the latter kind of photo (text quotations) that the founders ofsmartphone app Postepic want to liberate from this unstructured jumble of visual data. Indeed, the first version of the app, released last year as a bootstrapping side-project by a bunch of book-loving friendsafter they graduated from university in Poland, was just a basic way for them to organize and share photos of the quotationsthey had cluttering their camera rolls.
We started this project as we wanted to build something together, says co-founder ukasz Konofalski. We all share a passion for books and were used to sharing quotes and books recommendations between each other. We came across some reports that showed that in Poland in 2016 only half a book will be read on average, so we also wanted to support readership in general by building a bridge between traditional books and mobile world.
Two things really surprised us when we finally launched it in June 2016: the number of new books worth reading we discovered by simply sharing quotes with each other; and a very warm reception we received from the developers and users communities alike. We have received volumes of valuable feedback from them and got back to work.
Version 2 of the app, which launched this week, turns a basicideainto an app that has enough form and function to feel appealing to use. The coreadditional feature is optical character recognition (OCR) meaning that instead of uploading and sharing ugly-looking (and hard to read) chunks of raw page text, i.e. in their original photo form, Postepic users can now lift the wordsoff the page, capturing and editing the text and its visual presentation bychoosing fromaselection of fonts and backgrounds.
The final result presentsthe text snippetinside a square frame, in a way thats both easy to read andvisibly pleasing (for an example of how utilitarian quotes looked in v1 of the app see the image at the bottom of this post). So Postepicbasically lets people turn a favorite quote into an easily shareable unit of digital social currency. Aka,an Instagram for book quotes.
Last year Facebook added a feature aimed at enhancing the impact ofthe text statusesbeing shared via its platform, givingusers the ability to add colored backgrounds to their textupdates to makethem more visual. And with so much visual noise being injected into messaging and communications apps, this is hardly surprising. Point is, if you want something to stand out in the age of Instagram Stories (Snapchat Stories, Facebook Stories, WhatsApp Stories etc etc), it has to look right asthe bar for beingnoticed keeps getting higher.
And withall this visual noise clamoring for our attention, it can feel like the written word isbeing forgotten or overlooked as people ditcha thousand words in favor ofsharing a few photos. Yet a well-turned phrase has the power to be both arresting and enlightening, as well as a hint ofgreaterdepths lurking within the full work. Sogiven how much attention has been (and continues to be) lavished onvisual forms of communication from photo filters to selfie lenses to style transfer theres arguably spacefor a clever social sharing app that brings the power of the written word back into focus.
Notably, Apples new social video sharing app Clips includes an auto-captioning feature. Thats great for accessibility, but also a reminder that words-as-text still have powerand with a little technological automagic can be effortlessly edited back into the selfie frame.
Postepic is not the first app to take a shot at wordy snippets, though. Others have tried to buildan Instagram for book quotes Quotle, for example but no one has yet managed to generatesignificant momentum for the concept. It might be because sharing book snippetsis inherently more niche than sharing photos (its certainly more bounded, given language barriers). Or becauseno one has made a slick enough version to attract more mainstream appeal.
Postepics v2app seems to beatQuotle on OCR speed. And because itschosen to fix the sharing format as a square its content inherently feels bettergroomed for social sharing vs the more wordy/text-heavy Quotle. (Although, on the flip side, Postepics ease of use and more formulaic format might attract a flood of clich sharers and drive down the quality of discoverable quotes.) But clearly the founders hope is that the uniform sharingformat setsPostepic up to benefit from viral uplift if users sharewatermarkedquotes to their larger follower bases on platforms likeInstagram (as other apps have). Time will tell if they can make it catch on.
Its certainly stilla fairly unformed thing at this stage, especially given the size and nature of itsearly adopter community having only clocked a few thousand downloads for its MVP v1 via a launch onProduct Hunt. So even though the team has curated a bunch of quotations themselves to populate the app, youre more likely to find quotesabout scaling a startup than lines from a Shakespearean sonnet. But the core function of v2 has been executedwell, within a clearapp structure. So its super simple to capture, edit and share nicely presented quotes.
Quotation lengthis capped at 600characters to ensure readability (and curtail any copyright concerns). Photo backgrounds are also limited to a handful ofgeneric shots and textures offered within the app at least for now, to avoid users uploading inappropriate imagery, says Konofalski (on that front, remember Secret?). While the OCR tech supports ten languages at this point: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
The app also lets you tag quotations for subject matterand toadd sources (a requirement if youre making a quote public). Using these labelsyou can then browse and search quotes, while a favoritesfeature lets you curate a like-list if you spot quotes shared by others that you like. And if you dont want to share thequotes you create with the crowd you dont have to you can keep individual quotes private and just use the app to create an organized, visual library of the best bits from the books youre reading.
On the community front, the main feed of Postepic is an assorted jumble for now, showing a stream of non-topic sorted trending quotes that Konofalski says turns over every few hours based on what others are liking. Currently theres no way to follow other users to customize what you see here but thats down tohow nascent the community is. Our goal is to offer a solution that many content and photo sharing apps use: to give users a choice to pick their favorite genres and authors to adjust their feed, he says. Additionally, we want to launch a functionality of following other users, so their posts show up in users feed [but]decided to postpone the functionality until we reach a community size that would warrant this.
Postepic does also support social sharing to other platforms, as youd expect. Though this doesnt alwayswork as youd imagine. For example, testing sharing to WhatsApp the app merelycreated a generic text message with a link to view the quote in Postepic, rather than including the visual form of thequote in a WhatsApp message template (though this is likely a WhatsApp restriction on sharing from a third party app). A basic workaround is obviously to screengrab a quote and upload it manually where you like as a photo. Sharing to Twitter incorporated both the image and a text message with a link when I tested it. Konofalski says that with most well known apps it willautomatically import/drop an image intothe other app.
The appis free to download (and iOS only for now), and while the team says it has a fewideas for potential monetization down the line such as hostingpre-launch book campaigns, or offering writers a subscription-based platform to connect with fans the focus for nowis fully on building up the size of the community to try to reach a critical mass of readers.
Does generation Snapchat read books? I guess theyll soon find out

Snapchat just released a 35-minute video about itself
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel
Image: snap
It’s time for Snapchat to convince Wall Street and the world why they should be worth more than $20 billion and here’s a look at their secret 35-minute video that’s meant to do just that.
The video is part of Snap’s “roadshow” a tradition in which companies about to go public visit with investors and analysts to drum up interest. The video is under password protection, but Mashable found a way in and we’re here to tell you what you need to know.
Let’s break down what’s in the video:
‘Snap is a camera company’
CEO Evan Spiegel starts off the 35-minute video by describing where Snapchat fits in. Snapchat for the last year has been referring to itself publicly as a camera company.
“Snap is a camera company. We feel like were really at the beginning of what cameras can do, evolve from being just a piece of hardware to software connected to the internet. Before cameras were the best way to perfectly save something that you saw. They sort of helped augmented memory and now making sure they augment the way that we talk,” he said.
Image: snap
Spiegel positions Snapchat as a camera company that can innovate that form of communication, just as what happened with writing and with the telephone.
“At Snapchat, the camera has become the primary input for the phone. Throughout history people have wanted to communicate in intimate ways… I cant imagine the way that it must have felt on that first phone call where you could hear the other persons voice in real-time coming through,” he said.
“Snapchat really tapped into that human desire to communicate in a way thats face to face even if youre far away. The first time you use it and you can see what someone else is seeing at the same time, from their perspective, that moment makes you feel close.”
Then, Spiegel shares his story about their first office.
“Our dream was always to have an office on the beach,” he said. The montage of Venice is followed by the appearance of Bobby Murphy, chief technology officer.
“We thought it was pretty big to what we needed at the time that was the period of the time that we started a lot of the traditions that are carried out today,” Murphy said.
Image: snap
Breaking the norm with ‘Delete By Default’
Spiegel asserts that Snapchat’s creative strategy has already broken the norm with it’s “delete by default” approach.
“Everyone thought of cameras as a way to save really important memories. When we created Snapchat, where its delete by default, it didnt make sense at the beginning. Thats why people love creating snaps, there isnt pressure to feel pretty or perfect,” Speigel said. “Its about being a way to communicate how you feel and doing that in the moment.”
Murphy then quips in to say that in addition to Spiegel’s own genius, a lot of the product innovations are really inspired by what the users have done and the company prides itself in listening to users.
“People are sending so many snaps back and forth that they kept asking us for a select all button, but we were really worried that might ruin Snapchat so came up with Stories,” Spiegel adds.
Image: snap
Then, came the first of several dings at Facebook
“If you remember social media was always a reverse chronological feed,” Spiegel said. “You were always scrolling backwards through a story and that didnt make sense to us.”
A quick reminder that even though people and especially investors may love Facebook, Spiegel is smart: This ultimately comes from the brilliance of Evan, but the strong emphasis of building the product that makes people feel happy when using our service, Murphy said.
The more that we can create an environment where people feel comfortable trying things, feel comfortable expressing themselves, the more innovative our company can be, Spiegel said.
Image: snap
About six minutes in, we have the stats
Murphy said the 60 percent of users create snaps every day. Snapchat users, on average, visit the app more than 18 times per day and spend 25 to 30 minutes a day on the app.
Just about everything in the app is focused around content creation, he said.
For Snapchat, content creation isnt just taking a photo. Murphy pointed to the identity screen, where users can create a Snapcode that allows them to share their accounts and follow their users.
The camera should do more than just capture and share, he said.
Augmented Reality
And Snapchat is also betting on a future in augmented reality. We always care a lot about interactive that the camera can be a launch point for interactive experiences, he said.
Elaborating on Stories, Spiegel and Bobby share their first test of the Live Story product. Both of them had traveled to Las Vegas for the Electric Daisy Carnival.
We were half expecting to see nothing, instead we saw the most amazing content, Spiegel said, very cool and creative fresh content.
Image: snap
Discover and Spectacles
Discover was, in part, inspired by Live Stories.
You could watch something that was happening as if you were there but you didnt understand why that was happening and thats whats led us to create publisher stories, Spiegel said.
And that part is something Snapchat is going to continue investing in.
Lastly for the product, Spiegel discusses Spectacles and how it fits into the overall mission of creation.
Snapchat has really empowered this human desire to feel closer to someone, Spiegel said. Thats an example of a way weve created a better way to make memories.
Now, time for round two of dinging Facebook.
Remember Move fast and break things? Supposedly, never a thing at Snapchat.
We approach innovation in a different way at Snap, Spiegel said. Its not a throw things at the wall and see what sticks kind of company. We try to take time to really listen to our community.
That doesnt mean they are slow builders.
Weve launched more products every year from the year before, Murphy said. We love this pace of innovation.
Image: andrew hutchinson/snap
According to Spiegel, what they do change isnt driving people away. Our community is receptive to new things, Spiegel said, excited to see what you can build next.
A continued issue is on metrics such as follower accounts, which Snapchat still declines to disclose. Its because Snapchat would rather you not worry about it and rather you connect more closely with less people.
What we identified with Snapchat is people were missing the intimacy of communication, Spiegel said. We love when people are selective with the friends that they add, we wanted to make a place that was comfortable for you to talk to the 7 most people.
Snap CSO Imran Khan
Image: snap
Nearly 13 minutes in and were onto the business.
Imran Khan, formerly of Credit Suisse, now Snapchats Chief Strategy Officer outlines their advertising play and ad products.
For Snapchat, its all being the mobile/digital pull to TV budgets. It becomes harder for advertisers to reach the same number of people as they did in the past spend less time watching traditional tv, Khan said.
The description of a typical Snapchat user beyond the word millennial: The people that use Snapchat are curious about the world, embrace change and are into learning new things, Khan said.
Image: snap
Then came the guys from Universal Pictures
Snapchat, like most companies built on advertising, is focused on ad products, ad delivery, measurement and sales channels.
Kenny Mitchell of Gatorade, Chris Watt of Adidas and Doug Neil of Universal Pictures all give their bullish view of Snapchat:
30 percent completion rate on a 7 minute video. You dont get that on the other platforms, Mitchell said.
We have a really collaborative relationship with the guys at Snapchat, Watt said.
We want to have as much real estate as possible, Neil said.
Image: snap
The road to greater profitability
Khan ends his presentation on the note of strategy, pointing out that Snapchat has a long tail future.
Our user growth is driven by our product innovation, Khan said. It takes a while to make great products.
Right now, Snapchat isnt profitable. Enter Chief Financial Officer Andrew Vollero to tell you how thatll change.
Snapchat, again like most companies, has three phrases: user engagement; monetization; profitability.
Snap CFO Andrew Vollero
Image: snap
Snapchat has more than 158 million daily active users. They don’t bother providing monthly numbers. “We believe that daily investment is the most reliable way to understand engagement,” Vollero said.
Unlike Facebook, Snapchat is not after accessibility for all and connecting the world for now. It operates best in areas with “strong wireless networks” and to the benefit of advertisers these are more likely to be people who have “higher disposable income.”
Snapchat, as we said, isn’t a money printing machine. But it doesn’t shy away from admitting that. “We have significant advertising revenue available,” Vollero said.
Snapchat’s gotten a lot of flack for not being profitable, though that’s quite hard when you’re trying to grow rapidly.
Where Snapchat thinks they have an advantage is low infrastructure cost. Vollero positions Snap’s choice to use third-party infrastructure, such as Google Cloud, as a smart business move.
“We can focus on product innovation,” he said.
About 30 minutes in, it’s time for a talk on privacy.
Re-enter Spiegel, who offers up some charming language on how important it is to him.
After Chris Handman, General Counsel at Snapchat, emphasizes their commitment to privacy and how in fact they’re product is built upon that. “We built snapchat to hopefully restore some of that honesty, intimacy,” Handman said.
Image: snap
Snapchat has written its privacy standards, in plain English though Handman forgets to mention that came after Snapchat was sued by the Federal Trade Commission.
Turns out the word of disappear was vague enough to be brought up in court. Snapchat’s messages aren’t completely ephemeral since they’re temporarily saved on Snapchat servers.
“We use Snapchat constantly both in work and in our personal lives, and we handle personal information with the same care as we would for our families,” Handman said.
Image: snap
The remaining minutes of Snapchat’s video are about people.
VP of Communications Mary Ritti shares that the company as a whole is committed to diversity.
Spiegel then highlights a tradition at the company called Council. There, Snapchat employees sit down in a circle and chat openly about their work.
“There’s a really strong sense of not just are we driving numbers, but really making people happy,” he said.
BONUS: Finally the perfect kitchen invention for people who hate making salads
