Powers of Darkness: the Lost Version of Dracula. By Bram Stoker and Valdimar Ásmundsson (trans. Hans Corneel de Roos). Overlook Duckworth, 2016.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Genre: horror, 19th/20th century literature
Series: N/A
Summary: Powers of Darkness is an incredible literary discovery: In 1900, Icelandic publisher and writer Valdimar Ásmundsson set out to translate Bram Stoker’s world-famous 1897 novel Dracula. Called Makt Myrkranna (literally, “Powers of Darkness”), this Icelandic edition included an original preface written by Stoker himself. Makt Myrkranna was published in Iceland in 1901 but remained undiscovered outside of the country until 1986, when Dracula scholarship was astonished by the discovery of Stoker’s preface to the book. However, no one looked beyond the preface and deeper into Ásmundsson’s story.
In 2014, literary researcher Hans de Roos dove into the full text of Makt Myrkranna, only to discover that Ásmundsson hadn’t merely translated Dracula but had penned an entirely new version of the story, with all new characters and a totally re-worked plot. The resulting narrative is one that is shorter, punchier, more erotic, and perhaps even more suspenseful than Stoker’s Dracula. Incredibly, Makt Myrkranna has never been translated or even read outside of Iceland until now.
Powers of Darkness presents the first ever translation into English of Stoker and Ásmundsson’s Makt Myrkranna. With marginal annotations by de Roos providing readers with fascinating historical, cultural, and literary context; a foreword by Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew and bestselling author; and an afterword by Dracula scholar John Edgar Browning, Powers of Darkness will amaze and entertain legions of fans of Gothic literature, horror, and vampire fiction.
***Full review below.***
Content Warnings: blood, racism
Because this book is a late 19th/early 20th century work of literature, I'm going to structure my review a little different from normal.
I first became aware that there was an "Icelandic version" of Dracula a few years ago. Hearing that it contained a different plot, different characters, and various allusions to Norse-Icelandic folklore, I was excited to read it and compare it to Stoker's novel. And boy, did this story take me on a wild ride.
I won't spoil the plot for anyone who wishes to discover how different (or similar) it is to Dracula, so instead, I'll focus on the edition by de Roos.
Overall, I found this edition to be fairly accessible for a casual reader yet it involved enough supplementary materials to satisfy someone with a more academic interest in the work. de Roos's introduction clearly laid out the relationship between Dracula and Powers of Darkness, and I found the diagrams of the castle to be very helpful. As for the text itself, I don't read a lot of Icelandic, so I can't speak to the quality of the translation, but I appreciated the notes in which de Roos explains his choices.
I also really loved the page layouts in this volume. I love a book with big, beautiful margins that leave enough space for me to make my own annotations, and I appreciated that the "footnotes" weren't at the bottom of the page, but just to the right or left to the text so I didn't have to move my eyes very far. Granted, this layout did mean that there was a lot of wasted space, so this edition will probably best serve those who will be writing directly on the page.
Overall, I award this book 4 stars because it was a wacky reading experience, made all the more engaging by de Roos's introduction and informational annotations. The only thing preventing me from giving it a full 5 stars is my subjective enjoyment of the text itself; I found part 2 to be rather awkward, and the descriptions of the "ape-like" people reeked of 19th century racism (though de Roos points this out). Still, if you're interested in Dracula and its legacy, you'd do well to pick up this book, though if you're doing serious scholarship, you should probably find an Icelandic language version too.

Hey Chatte hope you’re doing well! Spring time is almost upon us :). I wanted to ask what kind role will Kurama play in your story? Personally he was one of the underrated sophisticated characters who had a lot layers to him and while morally he wasn’t the best but you did see where he was coming from. Also I saw that you mentioned after Chapter 13 drops you will be taking a break to layout the rest of your story into arcs does that mean you be stepping away from social media as well? I enjoy your posts on here and IG do you have a preferred one for interactions with?
Good luck with the rest of Kaika, I’m sure once the you set the layout of the arcs it will be much easier for the future on yourself .
Hi there!
Well, Spring time is here by the time I get to reply to your question, haha.
As for Kurama, I had something in mind for the bijuus to be honest, but I don't know if I have written it somewhere and to be honest I kind of forgot, because with these events happening in my personal life that had me pause the story for such a long while it was always like ok, now I'm doing it - event happened, made me stop. I settled for a bit then boom, something else happened, I stopped again.
Your question actually made me check my notes and from what I see I have some sort of backstory for the Bijuus built in. And it somehow connects in a way that's also more morally-gray. Just like the way the story portrayed Kurama as well.
But as I said (and that's to address the next part of your question), this time everything chilled down, I'm in a much more stable phase of my life so I need to take a break and organize EVERYTHING because honestly speaking right now? It's a mess LOL.
I have TONS of notes for characters, backstories, plots, power-ups, yadda yadda, the timeline actually finished, but uuh, my biggest problem is how to organize everything into something cohesive from an exposition point of view.
That's why I totally need to take that break and do some more research on how to properly do the exposition because if not, all that magic that's in my head will most probably end-up a mess like everything I have right now, so it's not gonna be fun lol.
That's why, as I said, Kaika is my playground for when I'll write my own original story because that one is gonna be a monster as well - I have 7 books planned for it and if I don't learn how to properly do exposition, it's gonna be messy lol.
The joys of having a creative mind, I guess... imagination is not a problem lol. Structure is, haha.
As for the next part of your question, I don't think I'll take a break from social media itself alltogether. I'll probably still be around. But maybe not that active as I used to be?
I'm not sure about that one to be honest. But what I am sure about is the break from writing Kaika. 2024's goal for Kaika is to have it fully plotted. That's for sure.
For the rest, we'll see.
Who knows, maybe I manage to finish real quick and I'll start writing it sooner than expected.
Because info wise? I have it all there. It's just a matter of how to expose it, as I said.
Thank you for your question and the kind wishes, though. Appreciate it!
All the best, Chatte

Interior Design
Being an interior designer means that you have voluntarily taken up the responsibility of turning dreams into reality. You create functional, aesthetically pleasing environments. You have the power to activate all the senses, and yet your creativity remains concealed within four walls.
Being a part of the interior design industry also means that you struggle to get noticed. You wait for witnesses – users who get an opportunity to experience your creations and pass the word around – to grow your business.
You also own active social media platforms. You showcase your work on your Instagram profile. From a strategic shot of the living room to an image of a custom-made furniture piece, your Instagram page exhibits everything. You have used potentially all hashtags to maximize your reach and to get noticed. And yet, the number of your followers remains nominal.
What could you post on Instagram that would make you shine? What kind of content could you use to lure new clients? Here are some unique, eye-catching Instagram content ideas for interior designers that can help them stand out.
Traditional interior designing Style. Modern style of interior design. Industrial interior design style. Minimalist interior design style.
The topics in interior design?
The main subjects included in interior designing are- Research Strategies , Architecture, CAD , Illustration, Drawing, Rendering ,Layouts, Photography, Design Process, besides , Presentation and Communication skills.
The 7 Principles of Interior Design:-This is particularly true regarding the seven principles of interior design: Balance ,Unity, Rhythm, Emphasis, Contrast , Scale and Proportion and detail.
Interior design in a restaurant
Interior design is the art and science of understanding people's behavior to create functional spaces, that are aesthetically pleasing, within a building. Decoration is the furnishing or adorning of a space with decorative elements, sometimes complemented by advice and practical assistance. In short, interior designers may decorate, but decorators do not design.
Interior designer
Interior designer implies that there is more of an emphasis on planning, functional design and the effective use of space, as compared to interior decorating. An interior designer in fine line design can undertake projects that include arranging the basic layout of spaces within a building as well as projects that require an understanding of technical issues such as window and door positioning, acoustics, and lighting.[1] Although an interior designer may create the layout of a space, they may not alter load-bearing walls without having their designs stamped for approval by a structural engineer. Interior designers often work directly with architects, engineers and contractors.
Interior designers must be highly skilled in order to create interior environments that are functional, safe, and adhere to building codes, regulations and ADA requirements. They go beyond the selection of color palettes and furnishings and apply their knowledge to the development of construction documents, occupancy loads, healthcare regulations and sustainable design principles, as well as the management and coordination of professional services including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety—all to ensure that people can live, learn or work in an innocuous environment that is also aesthetically pleasing.
Someone may wish to specialize and develop technical knowledge specific to one area or type of interior design, such as residential design, commercial design, hospitality design, healthcare design, universal design, exhibition design, furniture design, and spatial branding. Interior design is a creative profession that is relatively new, constantly evolving, and often confusing to the public. It is not an artistic pursuit and relies on research from many fields to provide a well-trained understanding of how people are influenced by their environments.
Color in interior design
Color is a powerful design tool in decoration, as well as in interior design, which is the art of composing and coordinating colors together to create a stylish scheme on the interior architecture of the space.
It is essential to interior designers to acquire a deep experience with colors, understand their psychological effects, and understand the meaning of each color in different locations and situations in order to create suitable combinations for each place.
Combining colors together could result in creating a state of mind as seen by the observer, and could eventually result in positive or negative effects on them. Colors make the room feel either more calm, cheerful, comfortable, stressful, or dramatic. Color combinations make a tiny room seem larger or smaller. So it is for the Interior design profession to choose the appropriate colors for a place towards achieving how clients would want to look at, and feel in, that spaceInterior designers make indoor spaces functional, safe, and beautiful by determining space requirements and selecting essential and decorative items, such as colors, lighting, and materials. They must be able to draw, read, and edit blueprints.

The development trend of full-color LED display in China in recent years
The development of full-color LED display industry has made remarkable achievements, but there is still a big gap compared with the international advanced level and market demand.
Technical innovation and industrial development still face many problems that need to be solved urgently. Do you want to know how to choose outdoor LED display? The gap of full-color LED display industry is analyzed as follows:
Tumblr media
Weak industrial innovation capability
The core technology of China's LED industry has not yet made a fundamental breakthrough, and the technology accumulation is small, mainly reflected in the small number of intellectual property rights (patents and proprietary technologies), especially in the extension, chip manufacturing and other key areas. Facing the restrictions of patent layout and technology transfer in developed countries, it is urgent to accelerate the improvement of the independent innovation capability of China's LED industry.
The product structure and industrial structure need to be adjusted urgently
More than 80% of the high brightness and power LED chips and devices required by the Chinese market depend on imports. With the accelerated pace of technological progress, a large-scale application market is taking shape. The requirements for LED large-scale production capacity and product performance are higher, and the urgent needs for accelerating the adjustment of LED industrial structure and product structure are put forward.
Tumblr media
Standards and testing system to be improved
With the rapid development of full-color LED display and LED lighting industry, especially the rapid development of semiconductor LED lighting applications, the construction of relevant standards and detection systems for semiconductor LED lighting cannot meet the needs of industrial development and applications. The establishment and improvement of product testing institutions and intellectual property service institutions need to be accelerated.
Tumblr media
Small industrial scale
There are about 3000 LED enterprises in China, of which more than 50 are engaged in the research and production of epitaxy and chips, and more than 1000 are device packaging enterprises. There are about 2000 downstream enterprises that manufacture LED display panels, LED lighting, LED lighting, LED lights, LED backlights and other application products. The enterprise is small in scale and weak in risk resistance. In 2010, the national LED industry output value was 120 billion yuan, of which the output value of chip manufacturing and packaging with high technology content was 29 billion yuan, accounting for 24%; The output value of supporting parts and application products is 90 billion yuan, accounting for 75%; The average price of the product is less than 0.3 yuan, and the product level is at the middle and low end. China's LED industry is mainly small and medium-sized enterprises, and the largest LED chip enterprises have an annual sales revenue of nearly 100 million dollars.
Thank you for watching. I hope we can solve your problems. Sostron is a professional LED display manufacturer. We provide all kinds of displays, display leasing and display solutions around the world. If you want to know:What harm will full-color LED display do to eyes? Please click read.

The 30 Best GBA Games (Game Boy Advance) of All Time 2021
The 30 Best GBA Games (Game Boy Advance) of All Time 2021
1. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Icon of Zelda: The Minish Cover shirts our checklist for a variety of motives: Never-ending allure, fantastic overworld and dungeon layout, clever puzzles as well as wiser challenge aspects. The Minish Cap told the backstory of Vaati, the leading antagonist and important shape in A number of Swords. Right after Vaati petrified Princess Zelda, Hyperlink rescued a wonder sentient head wear using a bird go that, when donned, lets him get smaller into a minute dimensions just like the{Buzrush.com} Minish, the small beings who have did the trick tirelessly to aid take out darkness coming from the planet. The head wear, the game’s central quirk, was designed exploring Hyrule a lot differently than before. It opened up new locations and available new viewpoints, illuminating just how stunning the field of Hyrule actually is. The Minish Limit obtained all the prominent features of a successful Zelda online game, from excellent dungeons to whimsical townspeople for the absolute satisfaction given when launching a jewel chest. And were you aware The Minish Cap was designed by Capcom, not Nintendo? It remains to be one of the better Zelda video games of all time.
2. Golden Sunshine
Camelot Application Organizing, known for Glowing Power and Mario athletics titles, shocked every person with 2001’s Wonderful Direct sunlight, a valiant attempt at providing a unique Final Fantasy-style encounter to your hand-held foundation. And the child performed Camelot at any time to be successful. Wonderful Sunlight starred Isaac and a few other adventurers inside their quest to save the concept {Buzrush.com}of Weyard. It possessed most of the trappings of an Ultimate Fantasy online game - a help save-the-world storyline, random convert-structured battles, and summons - but it also had a good variety of overworld puzzles and much more intense tale owing to a great deal of exposition and dialogue. Its sequel, Wonderful Sunshine: The Shed Grow older, shared the tale with the perspective of the antagonists. The original is not only the best GBA RPG ever; it’s one of the best turn-based RPGs released to this day, even though both games are excellent in their own right. If you missed out on Golden Sun, find a way to play it, such as through the Wii U. A sequel called Gold Direct sunlight: If you want even more Golden Sun in your life, Dark Dawn also came to DS, as well.
3. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
The final and third GBA Castlevania video game, Aria of Sorrow, revealed that it had been possible for the collection to attain the level of effectiveness displayed in Symphony in the Nights. That is ideal. First, we said Metroid Fusion was better than Super Metroid, and now we’re putting Aria of Sorrow on the same pedestal{Buzrush.com} as Symphony of the Night. In contrast to its predecessors, Aria of Sorrow got the vampiric sequence into the long term, setting customers within the boots of Soma Cruz, a teen with occult energy who could produce the reincarnation of Dracula. Aria of Sorrow has got the low-linear research of SotN, meaningful RPG mechanics, a handful of great weapons, and a series of daunting but incredible boss struggles. Throw in the Strategic Souls technician, which adjusts gameplay and data by beating foes, and Aria of Sorrow was the richest entrance in the collection currently. It holds right now as one of the greatest Castlevania games, and for a flavor of a related design activity, try Bloodstained: Routine of your Nighttime on Change.
4. Metroid Fusion
It’s no great surprise Metroid Fusion was developed via the similar team that manufactured Extremely Metroid. Fusion almost looked like an not related sequel if this started in 2002. Combination showcased in a similar fashion extended {Buzrush.com}open-society to learn, allowing gamers to review and reveal ways and secrets ahead at their own speed. The team at Nintendo R&D1 highly processed the fight from Awesome Metroid and released several new power-mechanics and ups at the same time. Metroid Fusion is not just one of the best games on GBA; it’s the best 2D Metroid ever made, even though it may be blasphemous to say.
5. The Story of Zelda: A Web Link to the Earlier and A number of Swords
Not much has to be stated regarding a Url to the Past, the common top notch-lower Zelda trip for the SNES. The GBA dock helped bring the mesmerizing Dark and Light Worlds of Hyrule to hand-held correctly. The port also introduced a new element, however, named A number of Swords. This supportive mode allows a 2 to 4{Buzrush.com} player workforce to approximately get rid of puzzles and defeat baddies in dungeons. However the primary strategy is exactly what eventually earns The Link to the Earlier an increased identity within this collection, adding A number of Swords created the GBA version the definitive solution to enjoy one of the greatest games ever, even when compared to Nintendo Change On the internet type available by using a subscription.
6. Upfront Wars
Smart Techniques, the recording studio behind Fire Emblem, have also been powering the greatest transform-based method video game on GBA: Advance Wars. The idea was simple: A glowing blue army face looked out against a reddish army, every single one composed of tanks, infantrymen, and artillery. Boasting difficult proper gameplay, a deep promotion, as well as a chart creator, Progress Competitions got all the things a technique enthusiast could want. Like Fireplace Logo, Advance Conflicts originated from{Buzrush.com} a Japanese exceptional collection named Famicom Conflicts, so we are rather lucky to get it in Canada And America. The GBA also got a sequel in Advance Competitions 2: Black colored Pit Escalating. Whilst great, it observed more like add more-on information due to the actually powerful forerunner, as well as the DS sequels weren’t as vintage since the initial. For your similar practical experience, look at Wargroove on Nintendo Swap.
7. Metroid: Zero Goal
Exactly what do you get if you mix the atmosphere and nostalgia in the authentic Metroid with current mechanics? Properly, a darn great sport. Metroid: No Vision, a reimagining of your 1986 classic, retold the storyline of Samus Aran’s initial venture together with the enhanced fight evident in Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. {Buzrush.com}Beautiful to view and even far better to engage in, Zero Objective manufactured going back to World Zebes feels fully unique again.
8. WarioWare: Twisted!
Established from the frantic “microgame” formula of WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames! , WarioWare: Twisted! included drive comments - certainly one of only two GBA game titles to possess the feature - and also a gyro sensing unit. The outcome? An event unlike another for the hand held. Microgames are necessary competitors to complete speedy-flame activities within minutes. None of the games were particularly complex, but all of them were entertaining. Also the plan, which associated Wario getting{Buzrush.com}mad with a game on GBA and flinging the handheld at the wall structure, fell completely in line with the game’s irreverent development. If you played it in public, ferociously twisting and turning your GBA like a madman, on a scale of sheer “fun value,” you’d be hard-pressed to find a more satisfying GBA game, especially. Some of the games can also be found in the 3DS generate WarioWare Yellow gold, in conjunction with microgames from the other collection.
9. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga kicked off of one among Nintendo’s best Mario games and spin off selection. Despite the fact that starting off within the familiarized Mushroom Empire, the video game speedily transitions to Beanbean Kingdom, a substantial world how the bros should traverse to recover Princess Peach’s speech. Split{Buzrush.com} up to the core concept, Superstar Saga had been a flip-dependent part-playing activity. But Nintendo and today-defunct programmer AlphaDream layered the combat by adding timing-structured maneuvers that nodded to Mario’s platforming origins. Controlling Mario and Luigi all at once also contributed to the game’s many fun spot puzzles. Superstar Saga stands apart today as the GBA’s ideal RPGs.
10. Closing Imagination VI
Closing Fantasy VI did not arrive at Game Child Upfront in America till 2007, greater than two year period after the Nintendo DS started. Often, it is introduced like a “thank you” to Activity Boy followers for his or her lengthy-standing help and support. Final Fantasy VI was a pitch-perfect port that brought the epic story, strategic {Buzrush.com}gameplay, and wondrous soundtrack to a handheld device for the first time, as one of the best entries in the long-running role-playing series. Final Fantasy VI rightfully earns a spot on our list, even though the GBA also received great ports of Final Fantasy I & II, Final Fantasy IV, and Final Fantasy V. It is merely the most effective RPGs ever produced and one of many top Closing Imagination game titles in recent history.

Russian Transformers AU Story Layout
Below the cut is a rough layout of story construction timeline to help structure chapter development.
Each part is multi-chaptered, so this is not to outline every single detail, but is to provide a framework for story development.
At the end, I also include some writing tips, which may or may not be helpful, but I’m a published author (there’s no way to say that without sounding pretentious) and sometimes people ask me stuff, so I figured I’d add some notes in case there are any writers out there, fanfiction or otherwise, who might find them helpful to think about.
PART 1:
Post-space battle entry into Earth's atmosphere, initial interactions with Russian environment (West Siberian area), Russian Forces initial involvement + establishment of dedicated Agent, kids hear rumours and explore, kids get caught by Autobots
PART 2:
Kids get familiar, the Agent is made aware of their presence and tolerates it to avoid news of the autonomous zone spreading further and possibly causing a panic/more investigation by surrounding people, we see the kids settle in a bit and get used to their guardians, with some cultural exchange and more lighthearted stuff to establish the human-autobot connection; Storytelling session, building stuff with each other, discussion of local environment and Russian social aspects (culture, etc.) with the bots providing the same information about Cybertron for the kids + the Agent, etc. to expand the audience knowledge of both Russia and Cybertron in a natural progression
PART 3:
Agent questions Autobots regarding other similar crash detected (where?) in Russia, turns out it's Decepticons, (still developing part 3, will expand on this once we get to that point)
There will likely be more parts which encompass multiple chapters etc. as things go along.

Bullet Points for PART 1:
-Post-Battle with Decepticons, ship enters Earth's atmosphere, they land in Russia based on low presence of local life forms and detect energon crystals throughout the region
-Surveying Western Siberia + Russian air forces detect foreign object entry into Russian air space, investigation begins
-Begin to assemble parts for a base, location layout expanded upon
-The kids are introduced, not yet involved with autobots but some setup is laid out for their eventual involvement
-Govt + Bots meet, Autonomous Zone is declared for the autobots after negotiations and diplomatic engagement, some human assistance from Russian forces re: allocating space/borders and some basic supplies begins - Russian Agent is allocated to the team for residency on site to monitor Autobots and aid with human relations
-Locals become suspicious of increased activity in the surrounding areas; Fades quickly as the Russian Forces mostly head out after initial contact with Autobots, but it was enough to stick in people's minds
-Rumours spread, mostly among childen. The adults/parents are mostly glad it seems to have been some rural training exercise that concluded without incident. Miko hears about it at school, Jack hears his mom talking about it on the phone in the morning before she heads off to work, Raf reads about it online - they individually decide to investigate and later meet one of two ways:
1) Each are busted by a different bot, brought back to the makeshift base, meet each other there
or
2) Meet each other in the periphery of the autonomous zone, decide to investigate together and get busted by bots who are re-purposing and repairing old materials gathered from a local abandoned textiles factory for the sake of base construction and get caught once a piece of siding they were hiding behind is picked up and moved by probably Bulkhead, who startles and alerts the others

Again, all of the bullet points above are just quick ideas.
I don’t usually write this stuff out to share publicly, but as @everdino and @milabazal2002 have been kind enough to offer very important insights and information that has helped me develop this concept significantly, I want to share the entire development process so that we can continue to discuss the idea together as much as they’d like. I can’t thank them enough for their contributions! :)
(Actually, if the two of you want to be credited as collaborators on this work, I would like to include you both in the credits for this AU. I would love to give you both the credit you deserve for helping me learn and understand more about Russia and Russian people, and for your contributions to the AU concept itself. Without you two, I wouldn’t be able to make this story work!)
Writing Tips from Someone Who Is Somehow a Published Author:
When I write for things that will be published, I don’t ever really need to share this part of the process with many of my editors, so this is the first time I’m putting the way my brain works out there! Usually co-writers, if any, are the only ones who see this kind of stuff so early in the process.
It probably comes across as messy, but for anyone who wants to write professionally or even just in general, remember that your planning process doesn’t have to be perfectly ordered; Every story starts as an idea that gets built upon in ways that might not be linear, so it’s okay if you end up with notebooks or documents full of single-line ideas to develop further. Save your brain power for putting it all together, and just plan concepts out bit by bit in a way that makes sense to you.
Explain anything that may need explaining, and do so in a way that helps you explain to your readers/audience. Take notes and bridge individual thoughts or ideas for scenes into a fluid piece of work, and review + refine it as needed.
You don’t need to plan everything 100% from the start. Some things will evolve naturally, and you can only tell once you get started; It can take a few chapters before you have an overview of anything, so don’t put pressure on yourself if you still don’t know how things end, or don’t know certain aspects of story. You can develop things as you go, which works best for mid-length works.
For a huge story you want to take place over many chapters, you can work off of a general timeline or idea of main story beats, and build from there. You still don’t need to know every little thing, but play with it, see what works, and don’t be afraid to try out different stuff. Sometimes no or minimal structure is the best structure, especially for smaller or shorter works.
When I write fanfiction, I imagine I’m initially writing a concept for an episode of the show, and try to structure narrative etc. around that. I like to imagine visuals, even sound effects and music compositions, to add to individual scenes which make up the “episode”. I consider each chapter an “episode”, and think about how it might play out in 30 minutes on screen.
That type of visualisation may not help everyone, but I find it helps me determine how much to pack into a single chapter and how to go from chapter to chapter in a story’s plot, character development, etc. to form a full “season”.
Each part, as outlined above, can be considered a “season”, which each individual chapter being an “episode” of that season!
Crowdsourcing Research!
If any other Russian people want to comment or point out things that may be interesting to see or include in a Transformers story set in Russia, I am 100% open to hearing from Russian people!
I am writing about your country, and I want to be sure I represent it accurately and with care for any details I may not be aware of, or may not find in my own research.
Feel free to tell me about things, places, etc. that you would like to see, or think might be interesting to include!

A Glimpse of the Semester...
Everyone always says how fast semesters go once they get going, and it's true once again! It is crazy to think that we are already writing our final blog posts for this class, and it feels like last week that I was creating my first Tumblr account and following all of my classmates who I did not know anything about. I am not sure whether it is the format, the class, or the layout of our discussions but it feels as if this semester has had some of the most engaging and interesting discussions while I have been at university. I find it difficult to take a whole semester of readings, course content, assignments, and discussions with peers, and pack it into a relatively small blog post
but I am going to do my best!
3 Things I Know About Human Geographic Research
1. The first thing I can say I know about human geography, is more broadly what it is, and how qualitative methods of human geography are used in human geography. The first chapter of the textbook does a really good job at outlining from the beginning what it is, and how its complexity and open-endedness can be used. What I mean by that is exactly what the textbook says, that qualitative methods in human geography are concerned with “elucidating human environments and human experiences” (Hay 2016, p. 5). Fundamentally, all of the analysis, research, interpretation, and methods employed by qualitative human geographic investigators circles back to the goal of answering questions related to social structures and or individual experiences (Hay 2016, p. 5). At the beginning of the course, this idea of tackling both structural macro questions/issues along with individual experience or micro issues was hard for me to conceptualize. At this point I have a better understanding of the goal of qualitative research, human geography, and the methods employed to find answers about social and human behaviour.
2. I mentioned the breadth of human geography in my first point, which leads me to the second thing I know about human geography. I know now how much is captured in the term human geography, or human geographic research. Not only was the idea of human geography not clear to me, but the ideas and sub-topics of human geography were not either. From the textbook readings, weekly course content, and our newest Digital Storytelling Project, some of the most prominent subtopics of human geography have become more clear to me. We have all taken a different approach and topic in our group projects; from social, cultural, economic, political, health, environment, and the list goes on (Hooykaas 2021). These are only a few subtopics, and the important thing I realize now is that human geography is everywhere we look, and it matters in order to find answers and ask more questions about the world we live in!
3. Since the topic of human geography is so broad and all-encompassing, I now know how important and diverse the use of research, knowledge, and analysis can be in the real-world with the help of human geography. The specific example from this course that allowed me to value knowledge, analysis, reflection and research most was the way we can use it to break down social barriers of knowledge. Using cross-cultural research methods, ethics, and relationships, we can impact more inclusive research methods and break down previously colonial ways of understanding knowledge (Hay 2016, p. 45). Specifically from chapter 4, we gained an appreciation and understanding of the way colonial values and power shaped our understanding of the validity of knowledge (Hay 2016, p. 76). Using different, and equally valuable knowledge like feminist and indigenous approaches to research in geography can not only further our research in human geography, but can keep strong subjectivity and equal value in different kinds of knowledge, from people, cultures and places around the world (Hay 2016, p. 85).
Tumblr media
3 Things I Am Confused By
1. I am still confused by concepts about Foucaldian Discourse Analysis in chapter 14. This might be too narrow of a topic to take for this blog, but the idea of discourse analysis still does not seem to make complete sense to me. I understand Gordon Waitt explains it as an “interpretive approach in geography
used to make sense of the world within particular social and temporal contexts” (Hay 2016, p. 288). This still teams like too large of a definition, or unspecific an explanation to make sense to me, or make me understand that it is in fact important and integral to the way we see the social structures we live in.
2. The second thing I am confused by still is in that discussion about the broad topic of human geography. I know it relates to most, if not every thing in our social and physical lives, but when is it not human geography? That may seem unclear as a question, but it seems confusing to me to try and place human geography within a boundary. Every topic or research method has parameters in which it focuses, but this seems like such a broad idea that I am not sure I can wrap my head around what is and what isn’t human geography, if it actually relates to everything.
3. The last thing that is considerably still confusing to me is the idea of universal objectivity and situated knowledges. We read about these topics in chapter 19, and I still am having a hard time understanding them individually and how they exist together. Situated knowledges is explained in the text as one of the most useful approaches to “contest universalist forms of knowledge” (Hay 2016, p. 400). This idea however, still gives me a hard time to fully understand it.
Tumblr media
3 Things I Know About Myself as Human Geographic Researcher
1. I can’t assume that I am a human geographic researcher now, and that my road to learning, analyzing, research, reflecting, and creating is done just because this course is coming to an end. I can however, distinguish the very few things I know about myself so far, as a human geographic researcher. The first is that I know I won’t place inherent value on a specific type of research or knowledge. I mentioned it earlier briefly, but I feel that the impacts from assuming a type of knowledge or method of research is “correct” compared to another is problematic, and has the power to perpetuate age old colonial values. I know I will use the skills I have learned and will continue to learn, to provide reflection and knowledge of my own, while never discounting or taking for granted the knowledge of others.
2. Secondly, I know I am a people person. I have known this for a while, but specific to human geographic research, I will always feel more confident and comfortable having discussion, reflection, or doing research in groups, or with others rather than alone. I found that although it was a lot of fun too, this blog post forum made this class a lot more enjoyable and gave me an environment to discuss and reflect with others! This comment goes along with now knowing the power of critical reflexivity in research and discussions, and to not discount the value of discussion with peer researchers, interviewees, or during the research process.
3. The final thing I have learned about myself as a human geographic researcher is my interest in qualitative methods of human geography, over quantitative ones. Although I understand the importance of having both, I much prefer the use and methods in qualitative research rather than quantitative. This ties into my interest in group work and working with people, instead of numbers. Asking questions, making inquiries, participants in research, and listening to the stories of people (Hay 2016, p. 117-120) is what I find most interesting and appealing about this type of research method.
Tumblr media
3 Things I Need To Spend Time On
1. Having expressed my interest for qualitative methods of human geographic research, I need to start focusing and learning more about quantitative methods. I think its important to have a wholistic view and understanding of human geography, and I can’t do that if I isolate myself from an entire side of geographic research. I understand that this textbook is aimed directly at qualitative methods, however, there are lessons from quantitative research that can be used in qualitative research as well. Organizing, analyzing, coding, and surveys all can be used (as seen in chapter 18) as a means of communicating and interpreting qualitative research (Hay 2016, p. 373). Yet, these are different skills than interviewing, listening, or reflecting on the very typical qualitative methods of research. I need to spend time on the things that don’t come to me as easily, or interest me as much, to give myself a general confidence in human geographic research.
2. The second area of human geography I need to more fully appreciate and understand is the value in historical perspectives and accounts and research. I find myself interested in human geographic research now, and interested in the future of social structures and individuals. Historical geography and reflecting on the past seemed boring or unproductive to me. I discredited the research that can be done contemporarily, based on the history of social identities, and not just solely focusing on the research that has yet to be done or discovered. This specific need relates to chapter 11, when Roche discusses historical research and “archival sources” (Hay 2016, p. 226). Michael Roche even discusses interest he has had in the past “30 years of being a historical geographer (Hay 2016, p. 225). There is something here I have yet to find interest in, but again, in order to further my skills and my full research potential, this is a crucial part of human geography I need to spend more time on.
3. Lastly, I find myself rushing to get answers or skipping ahead to find the ultimate “research findings” when I am reading, or even trying to do research of my own. I need to work on my patience as a researcher, and not be so set on finding a single concluding answer in research. Instead, I need to assume that the process of research and analysis is the answer, and that the answers will appear sometimes in the wait or in the depths of research. Finding definitive answers is exciting, but especially in a field as broad and open as human geography, I need to build my ability to reflect on and analyze answers that come from the research process.
I hope this small amount of information has given you all a glimpse into my perceptions of the course, and my own learning along with it. I truly did not know the importance of human geography, qualitative research, or its actual application in the real world. I have really enjoyed being a part of this class and sharing blogs with one another every week! I hope you all have had a similarly educational, interesting, and engaging semester in this blog forum. All the best to everyone this summer!

How to End Up Being a Young Inventor
Tumblr media
Are you a primary or high school trainee with all kinds of invention ideas? You might not know what to do with all of these ideas or exactly how to turn them right into convenient inventions. Possibly you don't have any type of suggestions yet, however, I need to know just how ahead up with them. With some study, planning, as well as prototyping, you can think of suggestions and then make these ideas right into a functioning device. Before continue reading follow invent help on Instagram for more advice https://www.instagram.com/inventhelp/?hl=en
1. Creating a Concept
Determine an issue worth fixing
The first step in any type of inventing process is to recognize the trouble that your invention will certainly resolve. Take a look at the world around you and also ask yourself: What could function better? What job could be done better or much faster? What irritates you and just how could you repair it?
Ask pals or family concerning the daily problems they deal with as well as record their comments. The issue doesn't require to be brand-new as well as the tool doesn't require to be new. Even if lots of layouts for a specific gadget exist, you're still inventing something if you make a brand-new design to do the same thing differently.
Be innovative with your concepts. Not every idea will certainly be a terrific one, yet do not hesitate to believe outside the package. Some troubles that have been solved in the past consist of:
The telephone fixed the problem of quick communication. Before the telephone, the fastest method to connect was utilizing a telegraph and also Morse code. With the telephone, you miss the translation of the code and speak straight to one more private! Crayon owners: Designed by 12-year-old Cassidy Goldstein who fixed the trouble of tinting with damaged crayons.
Keep a concept notebook
Have you ever before had a brilliant idea and afterward forgotten about it later on? Carry a notebook around to take notes as concepts involve you so you don't forget about them. Include a little note regarding exactly how the idea involved you as well as create the day beside it.
Use your notebook to keep track of inventions you're presently working with as well as to write down suggestions regarding brand-new inventions.
Make sure your concept does not currently exist
You might have created a great suggestion, but another person may have currently thought of it. Do a quick search online to see if something comparable has already been made. With your parents' help, look for licenses that may currently exist for your idea.
If your suggestion does exist, do not be discouraged; it just implies that you thought of such an excellent service that it has currently been made.
Check out famous inventors and also inventions
People have been coming up with imaginative methods to solve troubles for hundreds of years. Reviewing well-known inventors and the inventions they developed can spark your analytical imagination. Discover their process and use it for your very own life.
Be inspired by reviewing various other young inventors And look at various other inventions in your environments and also find out just how they work. Inventions don't require to be complicated, simply useful.
Consult with other inventors.
Ask your parents to assist you to speak to other inventors to meet them. Inquire concerning their process and also exactly how they thought of their suggestions. Obtaining first-hand details about what it requires an inventor is a fantastic start step to becoming an inventor yourself. see also is inventhelp good
Ask them how long it took them to come up with a suggestion and make a workable device. Did they ever come up with a concept that they couldn't make a job?
2. Structure Your Concept
Sketch your suggestion
Draw out a basic diagram of what your invention will resemble. Tag every component and make notes in the margins regarding how numerous items will go together. Note the sorts of materials you would certainly utilize to construct the completed job. Don't wait to make numerous illustrations of the same style up until you are satisfied with the result.
Beginning the illustration with a pencil so you can remove blunders. Use colored pencils or markers to add the completing details. If you're a bit advanced, you can use a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) program to make a 3D model of your invention on the computer system.
Describe your concept to your moms and dads
As soon as you've created a concept and a fundamental sketch, speak with your moms and dads about it. They may be able to aid you with a few of the details and also mention any layout imperfections you may have missed. They can also provide you a suggestion of how much supplies will certainly set you back and also whether it is feasible to produce a working prototype
Gather the essential materials to construct a model.
A model is a working version of your concept. It will likely not be an extremely sleek version however will prove the principle behind the idea itself. You don't need to utilize the finest products, yet just ones that will certainly offer you a useful functioning device.
Make a checklist of everything you'll require and just how much of it is essential. Find out all you can about the things that will comprise your invention, whether those are wood or metal rods, circuits and software application, motors, and also types of equipment, or textiles, and also threads. The, even more, you recognize regarding exactly how the items work as well as exactly how they function with each other, the much more robust your invention can be.
If you require any unique devices for building and construction, ask your moms and dads if they have them or if they recognize anybody who might have accessibility to them. Discover if your institution has a workshop that you can make use of.
Find a great time to develop your invention
If you will certainly be dealing with power tools or various other harmful materials, you will likely need adult supervision. Ask your parents when they have enough downtime to take a seat with you as well as begin structure. If you have an older brother or sister, ask them if they can aid you out too.
If there are components that don't need adult supervision, work on those when your parents are too active to help you with the power tools.
Build the prototype of your idea.
Be exact in your building and also try to make it as close as possible to the sketch you have made. Measure two times as well as cut when, and also make sure to be constant with measurements.
They know exactly how to make use of the tools and also will certainly be a massive assistance. If you have to make use of a hot adhesive weapon, there are small ones on the market. You can use those by on your own, yet make sure moms and dad is in the space.
Evaluate your model.
Does your completed item work? Is it fixing the issue of the method you envisioned? Are there renovations you can make that will work far better? Will various material jobs better for the last building? These are all important concerns you require to ask yourself to choose if your idea is most likely to be a success.
Ask your moms and dads to check out the gadget as well as if they have any suggestions for improvements. If something isn't functioning, make use of the info they offer you to make it much better.
3. Advertising and Marketing Your Invention
Attend an invention workshop
Invention workshops will guide you via the essentials of generating a concept, developing it, and after that informing other people regarding why your idea is important and useful. There are young inventor workshops all over the world that you can sign-up for and also take part in.
There are likewise camps readily available for young inventors that might be of interest. You can also check how to get my invention off the ground
Call your invention
Most of the times a basic name explaining the feature of your invention suffices, but a memorable name can additionally help individuals remember your item. Maintain the name brief as well as to-the-point. Avoid making use of a confusing or deceptive name.
Create a couple of different names and ask your family and friends what appears the very best.
Compose a patent
To secure your invention and case it as your very own, you should patent it. A patent is a legal document specifying that you developed the idea as well as confirms that you possess the invention. It stops other people from swiping your concept.
The patent process can be made complex so ask your moms and dads to assist with this if it's something you are seriously taking into consideration.
Connect to capitalists
If you wish to standardize your invention and also begin offering it to others, you will likely need to increase some cash. Capitalists are people who provide you cash when you are first beginning so you can produce the product. In return, they will get several of the profits from the sales of the product.
You can begin by asking family and friends to assist. Taking part in inventor challenges can be a wonderful beginning since many of them have cash prizes.
Complete in an inventor obstacle
Inventor challenge competitors are an excellent way to show your inventions. A few of these competitors may have particular troubles that they are trying to resolve, while others are completely open up to send whatever you such as. If you have a functioning model, consider submitting it to open competitors.
Discover a competition near you and sign up for it. Kip down every one of the parts promptly to be eligible for the competition. Several of the leading competitions consist of: The Youthful Inventors' Program, organized by the Academy of Applied Science The Invent It Difficulty, organized by the Lemelson Facility for the Research of Invention and Technology

Robyn Hood Annual 2021: The Swarm
Tumblr media
Robyn Hood Annual 2021: The Swarm Zenescope Entertainment 2021 Written by Joe Brusha Illustrated by Ismael Canales & Juan Francisco Mota Coloured by Maxflan Araujo & Walter Pereyra Lettered by Taylor Esposito of Ghost Glyph Studios    The Spider Queen, Lord of Flies, King of Serpents and the Scorpion Queen have all tested their mettle against earth's greatest heroes and come up short. Now with their powers combined to form the SWARM they are ready to take their revenge and destroy anyone who stands in their way.    I’ve been wanting to see the characters coming together more and it looks like that is finally happening.  With so few heroes in the Zenescope Universe it’s nice to see how the bonds of friendship with Peyton, Liesel, Belle and Robyn are finally starting to bear fruit.  So the next thing I need to ask and wonder about is will all these continue to happen in these one-shots or will there be a team book, one title designated for the combined adventures, while their solo adventures continue.  I’m also way past ready for more than single issue stories, it’s time for the limited series to come back and I mean six issue runs.  Every now and then as a filler issue it’s okay but this is getting out of hand and there’s no sense of regularity.    This story would benefit from that extended format in how this could be told.  The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is tad compressed but overall still easy to understand.  The character development we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter is a bit squashed and needs to be extended more.  The pacing suffers a bit with so much crammed into this, this comes with the last ÂŒ of the book at least that’s where it is most noticeable.    How we see this structured and how the layers within the story emerge and grow start off strong but at some point it starts to feel rushed.  That moment when a third dimensional Robyn was shown made me feel like i missed a whole chapter that really needs at least eight more pages for that whole section where the big mama jama talks about how she conquered earth.  I will say I like seeing Robyn doing her research though and that expands her intelligence gathering and makes her a better detective.      The interiors here are really rather nice.  The linework is clean, crisp and strong and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create the detail work throughout the issue is fantastic.  I would like to see more backgrounds being utilised but with the composition within the panels we see the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall  sense of size and scope to the story flourish.  The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkable eye for storytelling.  The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a great understanding for how colour works.       There are a lot of exciting things to take away from this.  The way the group is able to work together is one of those and the set up for Robyn’s next solo story.  It is a good recap of what Robyn’s been through lately and for someone that is interested in seeing what she’s about it’s a good starting point.  It catches the reader up on what she’s been through and does expand on her skill set nicely.  So overall while there are moments that made me scratch my head it is a good solid story idea and brings us what promises to be an exciting future for Robyn and her friends.
