Immortals Fenyx Rising
Day 2 review of Immortals Fenyx Rising: I love this.
Unpopular opinion: I love this more than Breath of the Wild.
Want to know why?
I knew some of the reviews for this game ahead of time and someone commented the voice acting was terrible. They were wrong. I personally enjoy how it's laid out for several reasons.
Everyone speaks in an accent except one character and no, the main character Fenyx also speaks in an unknown accent too that could be older Greek or Roman due to the indistinguishability of it. Hell, even Typhon has an accent though his is kind of harder to hear because his dark voice (love it btw) doesn’t make a lot of room for syllable pronunciation but he does roll some letters.
Zeus and Prometheus tell your tale and you play during that tale meaning you hear them narrating you. Now there are a few moments where this may be annoying but overall it’s hilarious because they bicker like crazy and Prometheus actually gives good brief comments on certain items, places, and creatures you encounter which is, for the most part, accurate to the real myths. To top it all off in the meta sense, Prometheus is telling Zeus about EVERYTHING you do even if you can’t hear him narrating which becomes ten times funnier when you realize if you play like BOTW and do stupid shit instead of actual story or quests, injure yourself stupidly, or try to do things people will probably criticize you for as the dumbass you are or can be, technically Prometheus is recounting all of it to Zeus. Yes, your life story/gameplay is part of the tale and your tale is about you being an idiot for hours on end.
The story and overall gameplay is pretty good and it certainly makes things easier to obtain for health and stamina than BOTW. It also has cool collectibles and I mentioned in another post the scenery is GORGEOUS. Like everything in the foreground and background is detailed; you can really tell they made a very good effort with this game and it’s breathtakingly worth the money I bought it for.
Typhon is my favorite villain now aside from Metal Kor from Jak and Daxter series. He’s a ham, and I would fuck him. For real though, he’s a lot more active than I thought he was going to be.
Unlike most villains in games who you either hear of, see briefly, or encounter once than fight to the end of the game to even see them again, Typhon actually has a role in the gameplay frequently. He himself doesn’t appear a lot but randomly he will comment on your journey which will be indicated by the sky growing darker and his mountain of Tartaros glowing.
If you draw attention to yourself, he will create wraith zones which spawn enemies nearly everywhere and he will hurl lava rocks at you. Wraith zones move towards you if you leave the area meaning he seeks you out. If you get far enough away, he’ll stop his assault. But if you just move out of the zone and stay close for an item, he will move the zone towards you and his assault will try to kill you.
Typhon has a great design. I actually like this version of Typhon more than even his original mythology design. He also makes pretty good points in some of his commentary, thinks he’s perfect and apparently has accepted his ghastly appearance as a thing of beauty (Aphrodite eat your heart out), and he even lampshades he understands his own problems but unlike the other Gods, he was willing to work with his flaws to improve himself into perfection which I don’t think I’ve ever heard a villain do before to be honest.
The vaults of Tartaros are puzzle vaults but you would expect them to be fire and brimstone but they are actually floating structures in a spatial nebula and certain vaults have Typhon designed in the form of a nebula watching over you, his eyes glowing purple. It’s really cool. Turns out at the start of the vault, he will be prominent but as you make your way through them if you look at the nebula of him, his eyes will begin to fade in and out as if he’s losing power over the vault. Also a cool little detail.
The boss battles range from mythical, wraiths, and lieutenants. They are awesome.
Mythicals are four monsters of famous lore (i.e. Medusa) who are found one in each section of the four main lands surrounding the Gates of Tartaros. Make sure you have a lot of health and power because I took on Ozomene  the Hurricane at low and it took almost an hour. Basically, if you do decide to fight at such a low level, find a place you can’t get hit by the boss and pick their moments of weakness (Ozomene turns crystal to rest) to hit them. This strategy will take longer to defeat them but it’s better than getting one hit K.O.’d which they can do really easily.
Wraiths are fallen heros (i.e. Achilles, who also was hard as shit/prancing motherfucker) who are located in each section. Wraith zones as mentioned are when Typhon sends more enemies. Well, wraith zones can be spawn points for clones of the Wraiths to come and fight you which are like secondary boss battles but they can spawn multiple times. In order to make wraith zones less frustrating, you need to go to a wraith vault and face off against the real version of the fallen hero. Once they are defeated, wraith zones should only spawn natural enemies making your journey so much easier.
Lieutenants are monsters and beasts of lore (i.e. the Nemean Lion Herakles/Hercules fought as one of the 12 Labors) that can be found throughout the island. Prometheus will give a brief insight of their lore in case you didn’t know why each beast is significant when you get close enough to them. They aren’t as powerful but they are a very great addition to the game.
You can really tell that the creators and game developers did all their research when making this game. So if you love Greek mythos, this is a game you really should check out. I should mention there are a few comments slash mythos that aren’t entirely accurate per say but considering what they entail and the fact the developers are trying to sell to a good portion of the 10+ audience as well, these little snafus of information are very forgivable and were probably changed because of the context. Others may just have been changed because in order to explain them, it would take so much dialogue from Prometheus and they didn’t want to annoy you with unnecessary back seat narration that didn’t move the story along which is also reasonable.
So yeah, check this game out. It’s really enjoyable and I’ve had no real complaints on my end about it which is saying something because I am really picky with video games. An absolute stickler for detail.

the saga continues!
So Totally OP!
Part 7
“My nightmare has come true!” I heard Luke say before he fainted. It dawned on me that perhaps this wouldn’t only affect me, but the thought quickly left my head. Instead, the make-up director only smirked wider and then laughed. Just who was this person? Why did I feel as though I should start fearing for my life here at OP?
 -
“Ah I see you’ve acquainted yourself with the new make-up director; Jake. He just seemed to have waltzed in here and I knew that he was perfect for the job. Can someone please tell me why Luke is on the floor?” The director demanded.
I shuddered; the poor creature had to live with such a foul name. I blame him for not being blessed with a name such as mine.
“If that cutie-pie over there fainted, I humbly apologize. I must be blamed for that. It seems as though he doesn’t have very fond memories of our last encounter.” Jake told the director. It seemed to me as though those two were long time friends or something. Something to do with the way he grinned at her and the way she simply rolled her eyes at him. I felt so neglected at this point.
“Taro, get that man up and get ready for scene 38.7. Jake, do your best on him please?” Always shouting orders this one. Had she ever heard of a vacation, holidays, relaxation? Taking a deep breath? The spa???????? How I longed for a spa day…
“Don’t worry ma’am, I only do the best for the best.” For the first time I saw the director give an honest smile. I didn’t even know that was possible! I thought for sure those muscles must have withered away ages ago. Somehow, I knew there was something more to this relationship. I didn’t think that it was a coincidence that he had just waltzed in. Who was this man? The two of them looked at each other and they seemed to be in their own little world. Luckily, for my sanity, Luke woke up at that precise moment.
“You’re the guy from the hair salon! That guy who kept on following me everywhere! What are you doing here? Why are you here? If you’re stalking me I’ll bring you to court, I swear! I’ll get a restraining order!”
I blinked. Now this was a side of Mr. Luke that I had never seen before. People who panicked or stressed out weren’t very pretty. They reminded me too much of little piglets or maybe even Ben the manger. Not a very flattering image to carry around in one’s mind.
“I really would love to go out on a date with you, but presently my heart has been stolen by my devotion and passion for my work and…” Jake started, but no one in the room was convinced by his little speech or the way he’d put a hand to his heart.
“We don’t need to know about your lovers, trust me!” Luke interrupted. I really would have liked to know what he was about to say. Who didn’t like a bit of drama and theatrics?
“People, please, focus! We have a movie to shoot here. Now hop to it!” As quickly as the smile had come, it had vanished. Now it seemed as though I was the big star of some mystery/adventure show like Sherlock Holmes. Today’s Case: The Case of the Relationship between the Nameless Director and the Amorous Make-Up Director.
“Alright cutie, come with me.” Jake told me and dragged me into his “office”. If he was gay, why would he be calling me cutie? Only three options were possible. Firstly, the gay thing was a ruse. Secondly, he liked both men and women and Luke was a narrow-minded idiot. Thirdly, he had figured out my secret and was Interested in Me. This was too much for my poor and perfect brain to handle. I always knew I was handsome and I never minded the troves of fans who adored me, but it seemed like everyone here wanted me!
As I sat in his chair, I noticed that he seemed to be eyeing me under a different pair of eyes than if I was a girl. Maybe the director had told him. Maybe he had a keen eye. Maybe I wasn’t a good actor. Who the heck knew at this point? At this point, aliens taking over the studio seemed plausible as well.
“This might seem like a strange question, but you are a man correct? I mean your extravagant hairstyle and your red painted lips kind of confuse me.” Jake smiled. Something about that smile freaked me out.
“I’m as much as a man as you are.” I answered.
So he knew? Was that good? Bad? Would I get fired over this? Was this some fine line in my contract?
“Don’t worry love, your secret is safe with me and I promise I won’t tell Luke. He is quite handsome don’t you agree?” He winked as if sharing some great gossip with me. I shuddered. Luke? Handsome? EW!
“Forgive me, but I am not like you. I am not interested in other men that way. People such as me can’t afford to be interested in men.”
“Well, that’s your loss, truly, but suit yourself. I suppose that just gives me an advantage!” He beamed. “Now, let’s start making some magic happen.”
I sat on his chair for nearly an hour and thought for sure that I would emerge even more sublime and magnificent that I already was, but the final result was well… unique.
“This is outrageous! I look exactly like you! I can’t look like you! Your hair isn’t perfect and your styles aren’t like mine. I can’t be beautiful looking like this! What’s the point of living if one cannot be beautiful?” Jake looked a bit amused and when the director returned to check in on us, I thought for sure that for once, she would take my side. After all, she was a person who wanted everything to be perfect. One look at me and she would agree that this wasn’t the perfection that she wanted.
“Jak, what the hell is that?” She said the moment she walked in and saw it.
“Don’t you like it?” When she didn’t agree he retorted back. “I think it’s better this way and don’t argue with me. I know what I’m doing.” The director stayed silent for a moment and then she nodded before leaving. The make-up manager smirked and added some finishing touches to my face, while he looked entirely too pleased with himself. Why did this man have such an influence on her? Who was he? Was he a friend or a foe? Should I be trusting him? Was I in danger?

Sounds Like a Plan
Hello everyone.....well, I’m hoping there’s still a few people that follow this blog.  So I wrote this thing that’s been in my head this past week.  I’d decided to get back in the SWTOR game and wanted to refresh my memory on the old content so I created some new characters.....and as always happens, a story started to form almost immediately for both of the new legacies I started.  I finally finished hashing out one of them  and am going to share a part now.  Hope you all enjoy!  Spoiler Alert: the following contains spoilers for Smuggler and Trooper Ord Mantell
A tall figure crept into the small room, the dim floor lights reflecting off the plating on his boots.  Not wanting to shock his friend awake, he pressed the switch on the wall and a soft glow began to slowly light up the room.  The Mirialan grinned at the tan skinned Zabrak sprawled on a bed that was obviously too small for his rather large frame.  He noticed a blaster pistol resting next to the pillow, just inches away from that tattooed face.  Then his gaze settled on the vivid scar running diagonally across his friend’s right eye and the soldier’s smile faltered as he was suddenly hit with a sense of deja vu.  He could almost hear the hiss of a lightsaber being activated as the memories flooded him and for a brief moment, he nearly reconsidered waking the other man but decided to press on, knowing the spacer would appreciate settling an old score.
“Drex…..wake up!”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Drex…..wake up!” a voice whispered frantically, the command easily waking the bed’s lanky occupant.
“Mik?” the Zabrak frowned, amber eyes narrowing as they focused in on the Mirialan leaning over him.  He tensed at the worried look his friend’s face wore, “What’s goin’ on?”
“Trouble,” Mik answered softly, looking around to make sure the other boys that shared their room were still asleep despite the soft glow now filling the room from the floorlights he’d turned on.
“Talk to me,” Drex nodded as he sat up.
“I woke up a little bit ago…..had to pee,” Mik began as he sat next to Drex.  “On the way back from the ‘fresher, I heard a couple overseers talkin’ downstairs.”
“And you decided to eavesdrop on the conversation,” Drex grinned, “Proud of you buddy…..usually you keep your nose clean.”
“Wasn’t planning on spying, but I got a bad feelin’ all the sudden.”
“Well, what did you hear?” Drex prodded, knowing that the other boy had a hint of Force sensitivity like most of his species.
“They were talkin’ ‘bout making sure the place would pass inspection,” Mik answered.
“No surprise there,” Drex shrugged, “Imps are due to pay the mines a visit.”
“Yeah, I know…..but here’s where it gets bad,” Mik continued, trying to keep his voice low despite the bombshell he was about to drop, “Overseers said the Imps were bringing a Sith with ‘em!”
“Kark!” Drex swore, his eyes darting to a bed across the room where a small Torgruta slept on. “I guess the boss decided to report Jak’s little accident.”
“I can’t think of any other reason they’d bring a Sith,” Mik agreed. “We need to get Jak outta here…...Parkaar and Zak too!”
“Zak?!” Drex’s gaze went to the pale green Twi’lek on the bunk above Jak, “He’s only eight!”
“Noticed it last week,” Mik confirmed, “He woke me up in the night…..must’ve been havin’ another nightmare and when I tried to wake him, he pushed at me with the Force.”
“You never felt it in him before?”
“Nope,” Mik shook his head, “Just Parkaar and Jak…...but it’s pouring off him now.  There’s no way a Sith is gonna miss it.”
“That’s definitely trouble,” Drex frowned, his mind already working on ideas as he slipped out of bed and got down on the floor, “Any idea how much time we got?”
“Overseers made it sound like they’d be here tomorrow, but I didn’t wanna lurk in the hallway too long so I headed back here before I could find out anything else.”
“Probably for the best,” Drex grunted as he carefully slid under the bed to pull up the loose floorboard, “Last thing you need is to be on their radar….don’t want that Sith looking too closely at you.”
“Nah, I can just sense things here and there,” Mik assured his friend, “I’m not strong enough for that Sith to care about.  Do you have enough credits in your stash?”
“Not for all of us, but should be enough to get those three away from here…...if we can find someone willing to help us.”
“Who’s gonna to help two teenagers get some kids off planet?” Mik pondered as Drex slid back out.
“Tess might,” Drex suggested, setting the old cigarra box on his bed as he looked over at the other bunks once again to make sure the others were still sleeping.
“The laundry lady from the village?”
“I’m pretty sure she’s sympathetic,” Drex nodded, dumping the contents of the box out.
“You sure you aren’t just thinkin’ that ‘cause you have a crush on her?” Mik teased, knowing that the fourteen year old Zabrak already had a fondness for pretty girls and the busty Human that lived nearby definitely qualified.
“I do love those redheads,” Drex grinned, “And don’t even try to deny that you’ve checked her out before.”
“Okay, you got me,” Mik murmured sheepishly, feeling his cheeks heat up when he remembered the last time he’d been the one sent to drop off the dirty stuff.  Tess must’ve just put stuff in to dry because her tank top was damp and clinging very nicely to her body…..something that had left a lasting impression on the thirteen year old.
“Ha!” Drex snorted as he finished mentally tallying the chits, “Anyways, I’m willing to bet she’d help us if we slipped her some credits.  The boys can have the rest of my stash to get off planet.”
“Think it’ll be enough?”
“Should be,” Drex answered, his jovial features sobering, “It’ll wipe me out though so I’ll have to start all over again…..might be awhile before you and I can bust outta here.”
“That’s okay…...better that we get the boys away before that Sith gets here.”
“Agreed,” Drex nodded, looking pensive as he continued, “One thing in our favor is that today happens to be laundry day…...and preparing for an inspection might help as well.”
“Overseers are going to be too distracted to check the bins very closely,” Mik smiled, thinking along the same lines as his crafty buddy, “and it happens to be my turn to ride along so I can make the deal with Tess while the overseer waits for me to unload the dirty bins from the truck and load up the clean stuff.”  Then that smile faltered, “But the boss is gonna figure it out.  Even if he doesn’t notice Parkaar and Zak missing, he’s definitely going to realize Jak is gone right away…...that’s the whole reason the Sith is coming after all.”
“Laundry isn’t the only thing going out today,” Drex reminded him, “The night shift is supposed to be loading a shipment right now…..heard Parkaar grumbling about it at dinner.”
“They have him loading crates now?!” Mik’s dark brows furrowed, but it didn’t surprise him really.  Despite the fact that the Miraluka was only eleven, he’d recently hit a growth spurt and was nearly as tall as himself and Drex.
“I think they got sick of him having headaches from being in the mines too long,” Drex shrugged, “But that’s actually good…..they’ll assume he escaped with the shipment when they realize he’s missing.  Takes the heat off Tess and if we’re questioned…”
“You know we’ll be questioned…..we share a room with all three of ‘em,” Mik snorted, his blue grey eyes narrowing at his friend, “and you tend to buck authority…..a lot!”
“I come out richer after every beating,” Drex reminded him, his back still a little sore from his last infraction. They didn’t want to risk losing a strong worker though so whenever he got whipped, they’d drag him to the camp doctor to be treated afterwards and he’d be picking pockets every step of the way.   Willing to play the long game in order to get freedom, Drex tested the overseers often.  Thanks to his high threshold for pain and quick hands, he’d amassed quite a bit over the past year.  The other three occupants of the room knew about the secret stash and made sure to look out whenever Drex had to add to the box.  The night shift crew that shared their room was clueless but he’d planned to take Parkaar with them after Mik admitted that the Mirakula was strong in the Force.
“I think both of us are gonna get a beating,” Mik sighed, not looking forward to that.  He rarely got in trouble but thanks to his kind hearted nature, wasn’t a stranger to getting a whipping for stopping an overseer from hurting one of the younger kids.
“Unfortunately, I think you’re probably right about that,” Drex muttered grimly, “But that works in our favor too…...they’ll be more likely to believe us if we snitch after getting roughed up a bit.”
“Good point,” Mik conceded, “We’re gonna need a distraction though.”
“Already planned for that,” Drex assured him, holding up a small smoke grenade he’d stolen a while ago. “I’m on breakfast cleanup this morning…..smoke coming from the kitchens is bound to start a ruckus and bring the overseers runnin’ in.”
“The loading area is near the kitchens,” Mik mused, starting to feel hopeful for the first time, “Should be enough time to hide the boys in the cart…...just need to make sure they’re ready and know what to do.”
“You’ll need to get a controller for the shock collars,” Drex reminded him.
“There’s usually one in the truck,” Mik recalled, “I can grab that while Parkaar helps Jak and Zak into a bin.  I’ll give him the controller when I help him into another bin.  Probably take a couple minutes…..three tops.”
“You’ll definitely have that.”
“Then we’re set,” Mik sighed, stifling a yawn as he stood and glanced at the old chrono on their nightstand.  “Three hours before the morning alarm goes off…….we should try and get some sleep.”
“I’ll set our alarm for a half hour before that,” Drex decided, “That’ll give us enough time to talk to Jak and Zak.  You can fill Parkaar in at breakfast…..hopefully he’ll be able to stay awake after working all night.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Mik murmured, giving into the yawn as he climbed into his bunk.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Drex,” Mik whispered again, this time gently nudging his friend’s broad shoulder, “Come on….wake up buddy!”
“Mik?” Drex murmured, amber eyes opening to see a familiar soldier hovering above him and he was suddenly thrown back ten years.  The only difference was that the green skinned face now sported tattoos and two vivid perpendicular scars that barely missed his right eye.  Also gone was the shaggy mess of black hair, replaced with a military high and tight, but Drex couldn’t blame his friend for not wanting to let his hair grow too long.  After all, Rylen’s camp for Wayward Boys hadn’t exactly been concerned with haircuts and they were only allotted one shower a week.  One of the first things both of them had done after finally being freed from that hellhole was to take the hottest, longest shower possible, then get a haircut.  He had a long strip of hair that ran through the middle of the crown of horns on his head, but he always kept the light brown locks neatly in place with a simple silver clip on the back of his head.  His brow furrowed for a moment when he glanced at the chrono.
“Yeah,” Mik grinned sheepishly, “Sorry to wake you so early, but you’re gonna thank me.”
“I have my doubts,” Drex grumbled as he sat up, “How’d you get in here anyway?  I know I locked that door before I hit the sac.”
“You did, but I convinced the cantina owner that you had vital information to my mission and it was important that I speak to you ASAP.”
“Only in Spec Forces for a week and already throwing rank around,” Drex taunted, fighting a yawn as he shook out the pants he’d left hanging on the chair last night.  Silently cursing that dirty thief Skavak for the hundredth time, he reluctantly pulled on the pants he’d worn all day yesterday.  At least he had a clean shirt and he’d put on clean boxers after showering late last night.  Unfortunately, that was the last of the clean clothing he always kept in his backpack.
“Karking Skavak,” he muttered harshly as he buttoned his shirt.
“I could try to see if I can snag you some stuff from the barracks,” Mik offered, knowing how much it bothered his buddy to wear anything dirty because he felt the same way after surviving three years in the mining camp.
“I’m going to see if I can get my dirty stuff cleaned today, but I could use another pair of pants if you can swing it,” Drex sighed as he pulled his boots on, “Somehow I don’t think that’s why you woke me at the buttcrack of dawn though.”
“Not quite,” Mik snickered, then he looked his friend in the eye, “Does the name Virk ring a bell?”
“As in Corporal Virk,” Drex tensed, anger flashing in those amber eyes, “the piece of bantha shit that got me kicked out of the Military Academy a month before I was going to graduate?!”
“He’s a Lieutenant now, but yeah….that same crooked son of a Hutt,” Mik confirmed.  “And he’s still up to no good.”
“He tryin’ to frame you for something?”
“Worse,” Mik admitted, “He’s been running a bribery scheme with the men serving under him to get easier postings.  A scared Private came to me about it a couple days ago, said his buddy tried to rat Virk out and ended up getting assigned to Mannet Point.”
“Not a good place right now,” Drex replied, “His buddy make it?”
“According to Farn, his friend was KIA the next day.  Now Farn’s worried he’s next but he refuses to pay Virk off so he decided to report it to me.”
“Virk find out?”
“Yup,” Mik nodded, “I told Commander Tavus and Lieutenant Jorgan about it not long after Farn talked to me.  Jorgan said he’d look into it, but I haven’t heard anything yet.  Virk must’ve found out though and stopped me on my way into the barracks yesterday evening.”
“Does he know we’re friends?”
“I don’t think so,” Mik shook his head, “He didn’t seem to recognize me and I was in a different program from you at the Academy so I doubt he ever knew.  A girl I had classes with absolutely hated him though and used to warn us to give him a wide berth.  The only reason I really know him is because of what he did to you…...but now you have a shot at some payback.”
“Do tell,” Drex smiled coldly as he sat back down on the bed.
“Virk told me not to be surprised if I have an accident today so I’m guessing he’s having me followed and plans to ambush me at some point,” Mik explained.  “I could easily report it to Tavus and Jorgan again but then I thought maybe we could set a little ambush of our own.”
“Oh, I’d be more than happy to show that bastard the business end of my shotgun,” Drex agreed, “Count me and my stealth generator in.”
“Good,” Mik nodded, “but maybe wait to shoot him.  I’m thinking the two of you are long overdue for a heart to heart…..away from the fort when my armor cam begins automatically transmitting to HQ.”
“It would be nice to have that dishonorable discharge taken off my military record,” Drex mused, “and combined with his kickback scheme, he’s probably looking at a decent stint in military prison.”
“That enough retribution for you?” Mik raised a brow.
“It’s a start,” Drex chuckled as he dug the stealth generator out of his backpack and clipped it to his belt.  He secured the blaster pistol in the holster on the other side and hooked the shotgun to the backpack.  “Let’s grab some chow down in the cantina, then we can head out.”
“Sounds like a plan.”

Chapter 5: Tour life
Time pass by so fast! We are already in chapter 5! I want to thanks AGAIN to everyone for stick around. There are so many amazing things to come!
Let me know what you think about this chapter!
------------------------------
Read chapter 4
In the twinkling of an eye the summer had arrived and with it the festival tour that both bands would share. The Chili Peppers and Dead Curse were going to share more locations than they supposed to so the label decided that it was best to join both bands and plan the festival gigs together. Solving two problems at once.
It’s been a couple of months since Anastasia saw Josh for last time. He’s been busy with the band rehearsals and she has been planning the summer tour with Dead Curse. Not even a text had been sent between both.
June marked the beginning of the tour; the first date was at Pinkpop in the Netherlands. Anastasia loved festivals because they have an incredible energy and she could be with friends she hadn’t seen in a long time. Festivals in Europe were even greater because Dead Curse was much more famous on that side of the pond that what they were in America.
It was a Wednesday night and Anastasia was packing her bags alone at home. The band would leave next morning to Europe. Her phone rang and a new message was shown on the screen, and even though the name on the screen read “JAK” she knew it was from Josh, that’s how she saved his number on her phone. Her heart jumped and she felt excited and stupid at the same time.
Jak: hi! Getting ready for tomorrow?
Anastasia: hey! I think I'll never finish packing.
Jak: too many things?
Anastasia: no, that's the problem, I wanna go as light as I can and I don't know what to pack!
Jak: what a problem! I'm really excited that we are touring together.
Jak: I mean the band. Dead Curse.
Anastasia: I'm excited too! It’s gonna be fun. I love to play live but that has me really nervous.
Jak: why?
Anastasia: it’s nerve wracking not to know how the crowd is gonna answer. What if they boo us?
Jak: they won't. The crowds at festivals love Dead Curse.
Anastasia: yes, guess it's true. We are a festival band. We've been there for a long time.
Jak: everything is gonna be fine. Trust me.
Anastasia: I trust you.
Jak: do you?
Anastasia: of course! You have become a close friend to me these last months.
Jak: good to know. I have a high esteem for you as well. It’s crazy ‘cause I have known you for a long time but we never spoke this much.
Anastasia: yeah, right? I'm happy that we do. I love to talk to you.
Jak: I love to talk to you too. You are so mature. I love to be around you too. That's why I'm going to enjoy this tour the most.
Anastasia: happy to read that. We are gonna have fun, you'll see. I'll assure you that.
Jak: OK. I trust you this time.
Anastasia: gotta go J. Gonna keep ordering this mess in my room! I'll see you soon!
Jak: sure! I should finish packing too. See you! Sleep well.
For some reason the smile on Anastasia’s face lasted until next morning.
 -          Hurry Up! – Eric screamed to Anastasia at the check in point before boarding the plane to the Netherlands.
-          I’m late I know. Don’t look at me like that – Anastasia told Eric presenting her boarding pass to a very blond girl with a rather stubborn attitude.
Mandy and Nick were already on their seats. It was the first “First Class” flight for the band. Not for Anastasia, of course, but the rest of the guys seemed pretty excited about it.
-          Look what a couple of million sells can do for your life – Nick said and the four friends laughed.
-          Yeah. Keep making me laugh so I forget I’m on a freaking plane – Anastasia was scare of planes since she could remember.
-          You take so many flights through the year I can’t believe your stupid phobia to planes – Mandy said.
-          Mandy we are in the air! Nothing sustains us! – Anastasia said.
-          Yet you ride every fucking roller coaster it gets in your way – Eric added laughing.
-          That’s different – Anastasia answered
-          No it’s not! – The three remaining friends said in unison.
-          Look at it this way, if this plane falls and you die we still going to be together in wherever place we go after we die.
-          That is comforting! – Nick said sarcastically.
After a while the boys fell asleep and Mandy and Anastasia decided to watch some of the band performances on Youtube to analyze and improve.
-          I need to be less dramatic onstage – Anastasia said.
-          No! I love that and everyone loves that – Mandy said mocking a sad face. – Are you excited to see Josh?
-          I don’t know if they are going to be at Pinkpop – Anastasia said.
-          Well, if they were at Pinkpop, would you be excited to see him? – Mandy said looking into Anastasia’s eyes – You can’t lie to me – both girls smiled.
-          I won’t lie to you I just hate feeling like this – Anastasia answered.
-          How?
-          Like a stupid teenager – Anastasia said grabbing her phone.
-          Don’t be afraid to open to love. I know Valentine hurt you and I can’t promise you Josh won’t do the same. But you can’t close your heart and put up these walls, An. Don’t let things affect you. If something bad happens learn from it and leave it in the past.
-          You are the best friend anyone could ask. But you haven’t been through this! Peyton is like the perfect boyfriend. You’ve been together for almost six years.
Peyton Neal was Mandy’s boyfriend since she was in college. He is a very successful baseball player who plays with the LA Dodgers.
-          And you think we don’t have issues? We have. Believe me. We have a lot, but we know how to handle them, that is why we still together. That and the fact we don’t see each other 24 hours a day, seven days a week or I would hate him! –The girls smiled – Work on your anxiety and don’t think about all the things that could go wrong. Enjoy this tour, enjoy your career and if something happens with Josh, fine, and if in the end nothing at all happens well… fine too! In the meantime we are going to have fun and get drunk!
-          Sounds like a plan – Anastasia answered knowing that while hearing those words brought her peace, putting them into action was going to be a lot harder.
The venue of the festival was crowded as it’s supposed to be. It was hard for the band to get to their backstage reserved area. Once there their manager was waiting and that was a good sign for Anastasia, it meant that the Chili Peppers were there too and she had a chance to see Josh. But she was too busy getting ready for tonight’s show to think about anything else.
Anastasia had so many musician friends thanks to her brother and her sister Barbara, who owned an event production company, so it was normal that she was going to run into some of them at festivals. She walked towards the dressing rooms and one door to her left was open and she could hear a guitar riff which she immediately recognized.
-          So here we are. Guess I’m going to see the Peppers perform tonight – She said to Josh without entering to the room.
-          And I’m going to see Dead Curse perform – He said leaving his guitar in a big couch.
-          Will you? – She asked.
-          Why wouldn’t I?
-          You’re going to get tired of seeing us.
-          I don’t think that’s possible – Josh went to her and hugged her. It was a warm and close hug a type of hug she hasn’t felt in so long but before she could finish enjoying it, someone called her name. It was Galvin, a DJ and a close friend of hers. She coproduced some of his biggest hits.
-          Hi Galvin! – She said not leaving Josh’s side. – This is Josh.
-          Hi – he said stretching hands.
-          Can’t believe you’re here! I haven’t seen you in so long – Galvin said to Anastasia.
-          Because your girlfriend hates me – she said a little bit annoyed that every good moment with Josh somehow gets ruined.
-          Well she is not my girlfriend anymore – he said.
-          I guess I’m going to find Nick and Eric. I want to say hello – Josh left the place remarkably uncomfortable. That made Anastasia mad but it wasn’t Galvin’s fault.
-          I see you later – she said to Josh but he was lost in sight already – What happened? – She turned to Galvin.
-          She cheated on me – he said.
-          Wow that’s the latest trend. I don’t want to be mean to you but… I told you! Wait ‘till Mandy sees you! Are you going to play? Well of course, what a stupid question – Anastasia said before Galvin could answer.
-          I’m playing before your set – He said – Let’s find Mandy and come to my dressing room, I got something for you two.
Mandy was a huge fan of Galvin and went mad when she saw him. He gave them promotional bomber jackets of his new record and matching caps. The girls wore them and the three took a picture which he instantly uploaded to Instagram.
-          Did you see Josh? – Mandy wanted to know.
-          Yes, we were about to have sex in the dressing room and Galvin crashed- Anastasia answered
-          WHAT?! – Mandy said with an exaggerated expression.
-          I’m joking! I ran into him and we were saying hello with a hug and Galvin crashed the moment, then Josh left us.
-          That is terrible! - Mandy said – You always have horrible problems with boys.
-          Yes! I have to move in a sea of men that desire me – Anastasia answered laughing.
-          You don’t know that! – Mandy hugged her friend – C’mon let’s get ready we got just a couple of hours to hit the stage.
The girls missed Galvin’s set because of all the interviews they had to give. But their show was amazing. Although it was emotional for Anastasia, singing about all the stories she had with Valentine wrecked her a little. Besides that the band played with so much energy and the crowd cheered them and even sang some of their most popular songs, which was always a good sign. And as Josh promised he was watching from a side of the stage next to Chad.
Soon it was time for the Chili Peppers to take the stage and Anastasia and the boys were very excited to see them. Anastasia couldn’t tell how many times she had seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers live, every time she had the opportunity she went to their concerts. She, Mandy, Nick and Eric were at the Josh side of the stage so he was the first in sight and Anastasia hardly looked to any other member of the band. The moment they played a song called “Dark Necessities” she stared at Josh and the way he played guitar and her thoughts got lost along with the music. If all that Eric's been saying its true, what could happen if she let Josh in? If she opened to this amazing guy that doesn’t seem to be a douchebag like the guys she dated in the past? And them the voice of her best friend ran through her mind like a hot knife: “Don't overthink it”, she heard them again and again, she was right, she needed to stop thinking about it and just go with the flow. It was going to be hard but maybe Josh could be a great thing in her life.
The girls left the stage before the Peppers ended their set. They met Galvin again backstage. He invited them to a club downtown where he was going to be playing later. They went to announce it to Nick and Eric and the boys agreed to join them there later. Nick wanted to have a nice shower and Eric wanted to call Hannah first.
Ana and Mandy did a pit stop at their hotel where they showered and change into more appropriate clothes matching the bomber jackets Galvin gave them earlier that day.
The place was crowded but Galvin reserved a VIP area next to the stage. The girls knew every song because, of course, Anastasia worked in some of them. The boys arrived at the middle of the set and brought Josh with them.
-          Josh is staying at our hotel so we kidnapped him! – Eric said taking seat and serving himself a drink.
-          I thought the Peppers stayed at more fancy hotels – Mandy said.
-          I don’t stay at the same hotels as them – Josh said receiving a glass from Eric – Somehow fans always know where they are and I try to stay away from that.
-          They don’t get mad about it? - Anastasia asked
-          No. They know me and they are fine with that- Josh said having a drink.
-          That’s what a great band looks like – Nick said
-          No. This – Mandy said pointing at the Dead Curse members – is what a great band looks like. C'mon let’s make a toast - Everyone put their glass together, even Josh – Cheers for an amazing summer tour!
-          Cheers! – Everyone said and took a sip.
-          You did amazing tonight – Anastasia said sitting next to Josh. The music was loud but the VIP area was build with special walls to keep the sound low so they could talk normally.
-          Thank you. You did great too – Josh answered with a big smile. - But I didn’t see you at the end of our set.
-          Oh no. Mandy and I went to talk to Galvin – She pointed to the little terrace next to the VIP area where Mandy was dancing.
Meanwhile a familiar song started. It was one of Dead Curse’s songs of which Galvin had done a remix. Mandy looked to Anastasia and called with her hands.
-          It’s our song! Come on! We need to Snapchat this! – She screamed to Anastasia.
-          I’ll excuse myself while I go dance to some weird remix of a song of mine. – Anastasia left her drink and joined Mandy.
After the set, Galvin joined the girls at the VIP area. He only knew Anastasia and Mandy so the treat with the guys was minimal. They talked for about an hour, had some drinks and took some pictures and around four in the morning Eric announced it was time to leave. Anastasia hugged Galvin goodbye and then the group walked to their hotel which was relatively close to the club.
Nick carried Mandy because she was too drunk to walk while Eric was talking to him. Anastasia and Josh walked behind them and she knew Eric did it on purpose.
-          You seem really close to this guy, Galvin - Josh mentioned.
-          I met him years ago in London. Back when he was just playing at local British clubs.
-          I see. He looked at you in a funny way. In a “more than friends way”.
-          No! – Anastasia was way too tipsy at this point and that’s when words started coming out of her mouth without breaks – Are you jealous Josh Klinghoffer? - She stumbled on the sidewalk but Josh held her - I'm sorry. I think I drank too much – she started to blush.
-          Don’t worry, it’s not the first time – Josh said smiling and remembering that day he carried her to her room in Malibu.
-          I swear I'm not like this – Anastasia was visibly ashamed.
-          We are here! Eric said once they arrived to the hotel.
Anastasia opened her room door so Nick could leave Mandy on her bed, then they shared a goodnight. She put her head on the pillow and fell asleep right away.
