Been a fan since: I'd heard great things about the series since 3 came out but I never had the opportunity to play it until this year. I can safely say I'm pretty hooked.

Favorite game of the series: 2, without a doubt. There are things I loved about 1 and 3 but 2 stood out to me especially with the writing and how I developed my relationships with my crew. I wasn't thrilled about joining forces with Space Terrorists, but at least I was able to walk away from TIM at the end of it.

MaleShep or FemShep? FemShep, hands down. I do have a BroShep save, but he's not as...invested as FemShep is.

Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer? Colonist or Earthborn for FemShep, Earthborn or Spacer for BroShep

Paragon or Renegade? Heavy on the Paragade. I usually try to go mostly Paragon, but there are some motherfuckers that need slapping

Biotics or Tech? I like Tech but I go Biotics more often than not

Favorite class: Oh Vanguard full stop. Give me a shotgun and biotic charge and I'm up on the front lines gunning down assholes like I was born for it

Favorite companion: Garrus, but also Tali, Wrex, Legion, Kasumi, Zaeed, Vega, and Liara when she didn't sell my body to terrorists

Least favorite companion: Miranda (strictly just due to ability, tbh), Ashley (I saved her a few times, I get that she has a lot of emotional baggage and the way that the Alliance treats her is extremely wrong, but I just can't like her ya'll. I'm sorry. I've tried.)

My squad selection: Who wants to third wheel with me and the Space Kitty? In all seriousness, it's usually Shep, Garrus, and Tali in 1 unless I switch Tali for Kaiden a few times. Or Wrex if I need more fire power lol. In 2, soon as I get Garrus, I tend to keep him around for everything save Tali's trial since I like to bring Legion to that just to be a troll. Mostly, it's just me and the Dream Team. Vega third wheeled a lot in 3, though lol

Favorite in-game romance: Shakarian for the long haul, baby. But Talibrations is also extremely adorable too. My BroShep is hella bi so he's romancing Kaiden after losing Ash in Virmire and he's Damaged™ so maybe Kaiden can fix him

Other pairings I like: Tali/Reeger (that dude was so in love with her it's amazing), EDI/Joker, Wrex/Bakura, Nyreen/Aria, Cortez/Vega

Favorite NPC: Anderson, Councilor Sparatus because he's a dick but he comes through for you in the end, Saren, Nihlus for the five seconds you get to know him, Kirrahe, Nyreen Kandros, Primarch Victus, Aria (she's very hot), the bartender in the Asari bar, Biotic God Volus, Padok Wikks

Favorite antagonist: SOVEREIGN. Hands down, he is the most terrifying thing you encounter in the games. He's just so other, so alien, and so...mechanical. His lines are delivered with this matter-of-fact contempt that is so perfect for a sentient machine. He has no motive other than he just Is. And I love that. Harbinger never shut up, but Sovereign knew when to start and end a conversation. He said his piece and he said nothing more. And that is exactly how you introduce an Eldritch Being.

Favorite mission: Noveria. I loved meeting Lorik, and how the whole thing spirals down from dirty business deals to all out creep-fest when you encounter the Rachni. And the Rachni Queen's voice acting was stellar. She was just sympathetic enough to warrant pause from outright killing her and terrifying enough to consider it.

Favorite loyalty mission: Its a tie in between Garrus and Kasumi. Garrus for how it ties into his relationship with Shepard and just how their death truly affected him and how it reflects on his character (I have only allowed him to shoot Sidonis once, and it was not a good feeling). And Kasumi because dressing Shepard up is always a good time and Kasumi is a sassy, classy lady who lost someone dear to her and giving her that closure she needs makes me happy for her. She deserves pretty things. She's also cute as hell.

Favorite DLC: Either Citadel, Omega (for Nyreen), or Overlord because David's story made me cry. I'm also autistic and the story was handled very well with Shepard being so furiously angry that the Paragon Interrupt was to pistol whip Gavin was very cathartic for me.

Control, Synthesis or Destroy? 100% Destroy. I do not and will not trust the Walmart-brand Alexa that is the Catalyst. That little asshole is dying with the rest of those genocidal machines.

Favorite weapon: The Talon Heavy Pistol. Baby can pack a punch.

Favorite place: I actually really love the beauty of the Ardat Yakshi monastery. I hate that the Reapers destroy it and turn it into someplace so nightmarish but it really was such a beautiful building and felt really peaceful beforehand.

my little brother and i are playing me3 sort of in tandem rn (im playing a super paragon mshep and he's playing a super renegade femshep, as is our wont) and when we get the chance we hop on discord and stream to each other during important missions and try to play in sync. its been rlly fun, we did tuchanka like that an it was funny how much wrex hates his shep and loves mine lol

anyway we're gonna play the omega dlc tonight and im not looking forward to how cool his shepard is gonna look with aria while santiago looks like a fucking boy scout doofus lmao

Jacqueline Nought - 1 ) okay, so like? clearly commander shepard is a solid candidate. especially one who challenges and messes with her. sure, at first she’ll have to gauge if it’s legit or not, but people like nate, in particular, kinda bring out that playful, more innocent fun side of her, and i like that.  2 ) miranda, for more obvious reasons. jack is all for that spicy, love-hate type of relationship, as am i... ( secretly, okay. shhhh. ) 3 ) this may seem odd, but. . .  mr vega? i can see him digging a chick like that, and jack being like ‘ okay, show me what you got, big guy’. them talking shop about tats and whatnot. anyway, yeah. . . it’s crossed my mind once or twice.        that’s all i have for jack right now, though. 

Dina Shepard -  1 )  vakarian. especially because of their renegade relationship, i feel they get along perfectly, like two peas in a pod; “ there’s no shepard without vakarian”, and i’ve thought this way since the series’ inception. they will always be my ultimate ship.  2 )  thane. i mean, he’s an attractive reptile man with a sexy voice, and dina would take an automatic liking to him. he’s a mixture of deadly and poetic, poetic justice, really. she digs his style and finesse. 3 ) massani. the ship that should have been because he’s another huge renegade ship for dina. she’s intrigued by him, his leadership skills, and she likes a man who knows how to handle a gun, or 50. he’s got huge cajones and isn’t afraid to back talk her. that’s good enough for her. lmao. 4 ) jack what should have been a thing, but bioware is lesphobic for some reason. okay, but the moment she talks to shep about going pirate with her, did the :chin hand: really, though. it should happen because they’d be a great chaotic match and could take on everyone without worry or care. just a couple of hot gals fucking shit up and making out? sign me the fuck up. 5 ) lastly.... aria. do i really need to explain? i just want dina to call her ‘t-boss’ and it fly over her head. 

Morinth - you know, i’d say dina as well, but like.... we know how that would go, so. i’ll ship morinth with some form of happiness. lmfao.

Ashley Williams - 1 ) alenko. i think i kinda had an idea of them ever since her sister on the vid mentioned he was cute, and ash sorta looked flushed. like, she probably would have gone for it if shep wasn’t interested. i do think they have a lot in common, though, and could totally see it building into something serious. 2 ) vega. their relationship going from lust to something more intruiges me. i think ash is too much woman for james, but honestly, that’s exactly what attracts him to her and vice verse. shep would totally try to push them together, too.

Omega dlc on renegade is all good but the paragon playthrough of it just has a special place in my heart. Aria spending two days with Shep and Nyreen and going "ok FINE maybe we don't have to throw everyone into the fire THAT MUCH" is just... sweet in that Aria way. Local crime boss dials it back 5% bc what the hell i maybe actually care for these two and they want me to do better. Knowing her that's huge.

I am doing a paragon playthrough of LE and for once I am going to do paragon for Omega dlc just to see how different it is since i always want that Aria kiss lmao!

Though reading what you are saying, I am super excited to give it a go now! Gotta love the subtleness like that! Aria is still the super badass that shouldn't be fucked with but then she shows something like that?? Bruh. *rubs hands together*

Fan since: 2017/2018ish? I think lol, I remember being in year 9 when I first played the trilogy.

Favourite game of the series: ME1 for sure! I love the feel to the game and I love the story the most of the 3, but ME2 is a very close runner up.

MShep or Femshep?: I’ve literally never played as MShep, I’m a Femshep girl through and through!

Earthborn, colonist or Spacer?: my first Shep, Bert, was a colonist and I consider her my canon shep so I’ll go with that, but I like Spacer too!

Biotics or tech?: I LOVE biotics. I think they’re so fun, much more than Tech!

Paragon or Renegade?: I’m actually more of a Paragade person, but I do like to be slightly more renegade :)

Favourite class: Adept because it means I can go shooty shooty pew pew and whoosh whoosh at the same time

Favourite companion?: Garrus. He’s the best, tbh, either romanced or as a bestie he’s amazing :) I love how supportive he is of Shep and I love that he’s in all 3 games!

Least favourite companion?: sorry, but Jacob. I just think he’s kinda boring and I don’t think he gets on well with my Shep.

Squad selection: always Garrus and usually another biotic.

Favourite in-game romance: Garrus, of course! Need I say more?

Favourite NPC: do Joker and Aria count? If so, one of those.

Favourite Antagonist: also Aria. She is a boss bitch and she does what she wants; I respect that.

Favourite Mission: either the Noveria missions or the Feros missions in ME1. Both are complex and interesting, plus I love a mako adventure!

Favourite DLC: oh, this HAS to be Citadel. The whole thing is just so good, and I love the party at the end, because it’s nice to see the crew chilling before everything gets worse.

Control, synthesis or destroy?: you may all hate me for this, but I like the synthesis ending? I like how that ends up for the rest of the Normandy crew, but I think in my next playthrough I’d pick destroy.

Favourite weapon?: definitely the assault rifles. I’m a charge straight in and shoot everything kinda person.

Favourite place: the citadel in ME1. Yes I got lost all the time but it was pretty!

Favourite quote: she messed with my hamster, guys. Now it’s personal.

MASS EFFECT QUESTION CHALLENGE

I was tagged by the lovely @tarysande! By tagged, I mean, she put “do this if you want” and I let it sit in my drafts for like a year. 

Seriously, a year. 

Favorite character: Samara is who I wanted to be when I grew up. When I actually did grow up, I found out I’m too Chaotic, but I will always admire and respect Samara. 

Paragon or Renegade: Paragon. Like, 16 out of 18 game completions, all paragon. 

Favorite Class: WHYYYYYYY I love them all, okay? They’re all different, and with different classes I get to bring different teammates on different missions to compliment and I just... Okay. I like Sentinel in ME2, that “shield mops the floor with everyone” thing is just so much fun! And vanguard in ME3 is always a riot! Vanguard is best for “fuck the world I need to slaughter stuff”. Infiltrator is really fun because you don’t need a team. Engineer is fun because you absolutely need your team, and you have to learn to work with the AI (and a pistol in ME2, if I remember right). 

I don’t love soldier. There. I picked a not-favourite, that’s the best you’ll get out of me. 

War Hero, Sole Survivor, or Ruthless: Sole Survivor. How else do you explain a 30 something year old woman with no friends, no connections, no letters from family or fellow academy graduates or ex lovers or... community? How else do you explain a 30 something year old woman with no community?

Spacer, Colonist, or Earthborn: Spacer. I have no strong feelings on this one. 

Favorite Alien: Salarians! Scientists who get shit done and are ace? C’mon, that’s a no-brainer!

Favorite Planet/Location: I want my apartment to look like Grissom Academy. All gleaming white with modular panels hiding storage lockers. Lots of natural light with carefully cultivated plant life. Very welcoming!   

Favorite DLC: I haven’t played all of the ME3 DLC yet. I know! One of my moves, the console didn’t come with me. So I’m looking forward to finally meeting Nyreen and working with Aria.

Favorite Weapon: Hand Cannon. There are other guns that can do more damage much more easily, but no matter which class I’m playing, no matter which difficulty, I can always whip out a Hand Cannon and get myself out of a tight spot. 

Favorite Shepard/OC: ...there’s more than one? Honestly, I’ve tried, but as long as she has Jennifer Hale’s voice I have to play her as Jane Shepard. Just the one. I tried a runthrough with M!Shep, but I really couldn’t connect with how flat the character seemed. 

Favorite Mission: I honestly can’t pick! This latest playthrough is a major nostalgia bomb (I haven’t gone through the ME2 stuff in 5 years!) and it feels like coming home. Every. Single. Mission. 

Favorite Track: An end once and for all. 

ME1, ME2, or ME3: ME2 is my favourite story. I love “getting the band together” stories, I love how we all worked together as a team, I loved it so much. ME3 had the better gameplay. 

SR-1 or SR-2: SR-2!

Choice You Always/Never Make: Always save as many people as possible. Always put Anderson on the council - I was so not surprised in ME3 when Udina was somehow magically shoehorned in! Always reunite the Geth and the Quarians, always choose Synthesis.

I am a fan since: 2012, can’t remember the month, but it was sometime after I started playing Dragon Age.

Favourite game of the series?: Mass Effect 2 because of Garrus and Thane’s romances.

MShep or FShep?: Femshep. I’ve never actually completed a game with MShep.

Earthborn, Colonist, or Spacer: Colonist, it’s what I first played and it’s what I consider Shepard at this point.

Biotics or Tech: Tech. I love controlling Geth and stuff.

Paragon or renegade: A mixture of both. Renegade has some great lines and Paragon is too soft at times.

Favourite Class?: Sentinel. Again, it was the first class I played and even though my canon Shep is a soldier, I will always love Sentinel.

Favourite In-game Romance: Thane Krios, thank you very much

Favourite NPC: Joker. I wish he could’ve been more than your pilot and friend, but I do love his friendship with Shepard.

Favourite Antagonist: Saren, a rogue SPECTRE trying to save the galaxy by aiding its destruction is such a power enemy. I honestly wish we had more of a chance to get to know him better

Favourite Mission: The mission on Virmire. I know you lose one of your squadmates there, but the cloning facility and talking to Sovereign are my favorite parts. Plus all of the raw emotion with Wrex and everything about the krogan. 

Favourite DLC:  I’m somewhere between loving Arrival and Bring Down the Sky. Both DLCs are so packed full of emotion, especially depending on your Shepard’s background. My Colonist Shepard always has a hard time with it, despite the fact that she’s also the Butcher of Torfan.

Favourite Loyalty Mission: Tali’s. I love being able to go on the Flotilla, but also the things you learn about the Geth, the Quarians, and just being there for Tali is awesome. 

Control, Synthesis or Destroy: Destroy

Favourite Weapon: M-29 Incisor, it’s my favorite Sniper rifle.

Favourite Place: I really loved the parts of Sur’kesh you get to see. I just wish we’d been able to explore more outside of the building. I also really love the look and feel of Illium.

A quote I like: I love most of Thane’s lines, tbh. He has some of the best dialogue in the entire series.

the dlc bundle for me3 was on sale so I bought it for my current replay, got some thoughts

omega dlc?? really interesting. still, I think the narrative should’ve made it more clear why Shep has a stake in Aria taking back Omega. also, more reasons for Shep to leave a) the Normandy and b) all their friends and crew. they’re a person of significant importance in this war and if Cerberus recaptured them or killed them, and anyone found out it was bc they went running off to help the local crime boss take back her station........well.

from ashes dlc?? I’m playing through as mostly renshep— i love playing as paragon because there’s something especially tragic about a character with Shepard’s narrative who also believes inherently in the less violent solutions, in trying to talk it out, in trying desperately to be good in a world which isn’t. however, I wanted to explore some of the renegade choices and wound up with paragade Shep who gets more and more renegade as the trilogy progresses, which is also fitting.

anyway all that to say, she and Javik get along strangely well. “strangely” bc no one else quite expects it. Shepard is just relieved that there’s someone else who can look at what she’s done and realize, it may not be a good thing, but it was a needed thing.

citadel dlc???? man. maaaaaaan I’ve seen gifs but they did not prepare me. it’s lightheartedness in the middle of a game that lacks much humor or happiness. it’s made me laugh. and at the same time, it’s heartbreaking.

one, you’ve got life on the citadel proceeding as if nothing is wrong. people are partying, gaming, going to work. actually. that’s a bit of a parallel to current events. gotta love running errands during a pandemic. anyway. everything is, in public, absolutely normal, without any of that banter and conversation you overhear in the main game. I can just imagine Shepard walking through the plaza outside the apartment complex and wondering, why aren’t they scared? why aren’t they doing anything?

and the clone, I mean. Shep in my current playthrough isn’t very sympathetic to this, she’s pissed as hell. she kicked the clone off the Normandy, literally. idk if the option to save the clone at the end actually succeeds or no. but how awful would it be to wake up and realize you’d been grown as an organ bank for someone else??? also, probably, Cerberus testing their cloning capabilities since it would be much, much easier (relatively speaking) to grow individual organs if Shepard needed them than to have an entire, actual person to.....what, cut open? actually, why tf did Cerberus go through all that trouble?? did they want multiple Shepards??? it’s three thirty in the morning and this is already too long

POINT IS. citadel dlc both makes me laugh and hurts me deeply. like, who gave the devs the right to put a log from Anderson, about Shep, in the apartment that says “and I worry sometimes she forgets: there’s a whole bunch of people who lose sleep over her getting back home” AND that he trusts her with his life A N D that no one really knows everything she’s been through but she has to fight a lot of battles alone, and god knows how she does it. how dare

There's no way character creator can get even close to how I envision her, so she will probably live in my fan art and headcanons only BUT here is another Shep I have in mind.

Name: Lore Shepard. Her tag line if anyone questions her name is, "because I'm a fucking legend."

Primarily renegade.

Lore is caustically funny, charming, calculating, and cold; her allegiance is to herself first and foremost. A blast in the best of ways at parties, a blast in the worst of ways on the frontlines.

She shoots first and asks questions later, sticks to her (metaphoric and literal) guns, and is a wild card; just as likely to pat the back she would stab. Due to her background, she seldom forms emotional attachments to those in her service (values their usefulness over friendship) and is ruthlessly anti-Batarian; "The only good Batarian is a dead Batarian." She has adapted to portray enough charm to the higher-ups to keep them off her back, but knows the only authority that matters is her own. Lore is saving the galaxy because she "god damn lives there" and if anyone else is rescued or killed, well that's all just collateral.

All Lore needs is a good crew, a good gun, and a good fuck. The Alliance (and Cerberus) provides the first two, so she stays on the prowl for the latter. She has a particular fixation on Asari and entertained the idea of romancing Liara, but she was too sweet for her taste. In fact, she likes to antagonize Liara about "being [her] new stepmom" after meeting Aethyta and being attracted to her blunt dryness way better. More than anything (and it's a crime she is not romancable I'm electing to ignore that however) if Lore was going to romance anyone it would be Aria, or Miranda. 

Lore has a begrudging respect for Anderson, inherently filling the void her dead parents left whether she likes it or not, she'll do what he asks but she'll grouse and complain the whole time. She is legitimately close with Joker and he is the only one that can remotely deter her from certain renegade behaviors, his humor slips under her defenses easier than she'd ever admit, but her acquiescence is more out of frustration/ease of convenience than a change of heart. She values Wrex and Kasumi the most in her squad. She enjoys "playfully" antagonizing and teasing Liara and Garrus, but there's no emotional depth to it. She views Jack as a long-lost sister and has shared many a drunken night with her. Lore wanted to wipe the cocky smile off Miranda's face, but there's no depth there other than carnal attraction strong enough to put up with a "romance" if pressed. Aria, on the other hand, Lore wants to be very close with. "Love" is too insipid and cloying of a term, but she could see herself parked right next to Aria on that lounge for most of her days; being in the presence of such a kindred spirit an intoxicant unto itself. She imbibes in it as often as the patrons in Afterlife do Noverian rum. All that being said, she would scarcely need a moment to think or mourn the loss of any of them, just another number to add to the casualties and boy, what a pain to replace them.
