what do you think of omegaverse?
Love and adore it!! 💕
I went to look and sadly couldn't find it, but there was this really great post on Twitter at one point about omegaverse courting behaviors. And it really opened my eyes to some of the opportunities in a/b/o AUs, it was super cute!
It involved alpha behaviors when ruts are nearing. But since alphas are supposed to provide for their omegas, that's exactly what it was: providing behaviors. Like the alpha suddenly gets very picky about how full their pantry is, or they get way into cooking. And my favorite was them providing nesting materials! Things like suddenly bringing home lots of blankets and pillows. But just because I'm a sap, I especially like to imagine the alpha making the nesting material, sewing pillows, knitting blankets, etc, and then presenting them to their omega. And if the omega likes what they've been given, then the alphas metaphorical tail is excitedly wagging because yay, they liked it! They pleased their mate! They were a good alpha!
I've had a pretty in-depth discussion of this with Ray and it made me realize I also really like beta/omega or alpha/beta ships! There's just something very sweet and heartwarming about a beta who doesn't really have any kind of nesting or providing instincts, but they perform those actions and try really hard to fulfill those roles for the sake of pleasing their mate's instincts.
Like in alpha/beta, a beta might arrange a nest and go out of their way to thank their alpha for whatever nesting materials they bring. Or if it's beta/omega, the beta will learn how to cook, do the shopping, and bring their mate blankets and pillows and cushions.
Another fantastic thing I've seen on Twitter was a post about omegas nesting for the first time...without actually realizing that's what they're doing. The character kept rearranging stuff in their room, but none of it felt right and they got huffy and frustrated because it's just the layout of their room, why the hell is this making them upset. It's petty and ridiculous. But then they find a shirt from their crush (an alpha) and oh. Oh they suddenly really really want that shirt. Why does it smell so good? Did that person always smell like that? And so they drag the shirt into their little nest and ok, that's better. They finally feel at peace and can rest. ♡

LET’S DO A WEIRD HEADCANON THING.
Tumblr media
REPOST DON’T REBLOG !
TAGGED BY: @deathbanchou TAGGING: if you wanna do it, go ahead!
1. WHAT THEY SMELL LIKE  /   high-quality perfume, scented soaps and creams -- the smell of these depend on what is in season. fruity? flowery? she is never behind the new products and trends to have the most lovely smell in school. she does not overdo it but a mere whiff can denote a faint scent of whatever new perfume came out. her favourite choices would be orange and peach, though. nothing too extreme, even when she adores being flashy. sometimes it’s fine to be subtle and it works wonders since everyone considers it to be just a natural part of her.
if not wearing anything specific, she has a faint scent of hand cream.
lisa mentions vaguely how aromatherapy is good for constipation ( she isn’t constipated, though! ) so it denotes she actually focuses on its effects and benefits. so one can assume this is one of her resources. in a general basis she does not like strong smells like of cologne and overly strong perfumes, instead going for the most subtle scents. since she can be quite sensitive to those, she can gag and that is quite the unsightly show.
2. HOW THEY SLEEP (SLEEPING POSITION, SCHEDULE, ETC) /  lisa does not have a decent sleep schedule at all. discipline and responsibility are expected from her so it’s a given she would run in the opposite end. she no longer does this but she used to arrive home at late hours of the night after returning from her activities. which came with the downside of sleeping almost nothing and having to be up for school in a few hours. she surprisingly did not skip class but arrived late at times. so in a sense, it showed she valued her 8hrs of sleep and understood the importance of sleeping properly.
simply, she sometimes adjusted it to her own schedule which did not fit with her parents and teachers.
when it came to her sleeping comfort, it variated. she can sleep with her clothes on and not cover herself at all. others, she will actually wear pajamas and swim into her blankets. surrounded by pillows, plushies and her two cats. she has a regular bed though she owns a futon, which she refuses using. she considers them uncomfortable and ugly. she acquired her mattress after insisting how much she hated sleeping on the floor.
in position, she must be hugging something. a plushie, her pillow or even one of the cats. she will curl up to herself and hold onto anything within reach. it’s a little odd and nobody knows about this but it’s one of her little pleasures in life.
3. WHAT MUSIC THEY ENJOY  /   when it comes to lisa, it’s more about what she dislikes. she can admit disliking enka and pop music, so it shows she isn’t enjoying a lot of what is popular but will put with the latter for the sake of appearances.
she has no actual preference for music and she will agree on whatever is popular at the time. her knowledge is shallow at best but she does an effort to have an idea of whatever others are listening now. she will go to concerts, clubs, karaokes and sing along when others break into a song, etc. she simply has no real taste and formulated opinion on music. oh, that artist is so hot, isn’t he? or, have you heard of the scandal from X idol group?
she will enjoy cheesy love songs, regardless of the artist. but other than that? she cannot pinpoint her favourite artist, group or genre. she listens to what other people will approve of and does so successfully. in her personal time, though, she will listen to the soundtracks of her kung fu movies and obscure cantonese artists.
4. HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND GETTING READY EVERY MORNING  /   she takes her sweet time. one hour to shower, one hour to get ready and eat breakfast. she is diligent in this process, since it depends on this how successful her day will be. which is why she would prefer arriving late to class than messing up her morning ritual. shower, drying hair, face mask and make up. she will do everything possible to show up refreshed, well-rested and ready for the day. nowadays she has more time to sleep and can follow this without going late to school, which has highly favoured her charming temper toward others.
5. THEIR FAVORITE THING TO COLLECT  /  clothes! she loves fashion and while it can seem like one of her shallow interests, she does sincerely enjoy collecting pieces and bits of fashion lines. anything that her allowance can afford will go immediately into her closet, regardless of if she will use it or not since she loves having coordinated outfits for every season! her closet is a disaster but can dress out a whole classroom if she wanted to.
she is also not outside of having her very cherished haul of kung fu movies. still packaged and lovingly showcased on her shelf. as her cherished possessions, she won’t touch those and instead has one haul for watching and one for collection purpose alone.
6. LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED / a hard one but i will go for right handed. fail attempt at ambidextrous. she leans on the fact that her hands are more for punching. she truly is a gallant lady...
7. RELIGION (IF ANY)  /  her parents were raised christian but converted to shinto-buddhism, so she was raised through those beliefs. they are very devoted as it is part of that wonderful japanese culture they love, so of course they must teach her daughter how important this is. in her rebellion, she has gone against every bit she was taught while growing up. she has no real religious affiliation to anything, but mostly as she has not really sat and thought about what she wants to believe in. she is a teenager, so prefers leaving that heavy stuff for those that actually care.
8. FAVORITE TOURISTY THING TO DO WHEN TRAVELING  /   again, it all depends on what’s popular in the area she is visiting. though in this case, she can be picky for the sake of her sanity. tourist spots mean not only japanese tourists but also american tourists and she fervently avoids confronting english speakers. she will prefer restaurants and clubs, rather than monuments and museums. something more regular that will save her from seeing another americans, you know? she cannot avoid them forever but trying doesn’t hurt anyone.
9. FAVORITE KIND OF WEATHER  /   MILD WEATHER. spring has the perfect sort of weather. it reeks of romance with the cherry blossom trees and subtle breezes on morning, with that bright and comforting sun. of course, that is the ideal and you cannot have everything you ask for. but she really enjoys the calmness of a quiet spring breeze, be it at night or morning.
10. A WEIRD / OBSCURE FEAR THEY HAVE  /  it is not obscure or weird, not in her opinion. lisa is afraid of everyone’s expectations toward her and not having an identity of her own.
for example, she hates and wants to avoid american tourists through and through. she cannot speak english and is very self-conscious about it, since it’s an expectation of others to see the obviously american kid from stupidly american parents speak english. it should be a given and yet, she does not know a lick of it. maybe vague words at best. her grammar leaves plenty to desire and even more so her pronunciation. if anything, she struggles with the subject and is a very poor speaker as opposed to her great grades in japanese ( surprise ) and literature. the notion of how she should know and others firmly believe she must know is a constant struggle. everyone assumes without asking and of course, she does not deny it.
and that is the cherry on the cake of her life problems.
so here she is, the american kid being a complete mockery of her own stereotype but letting everyone think she is what they think. she can’t be japanese ( she doesn’t look like one but she was born here so she is japanese ) but she neither can be american ( despite her blood, roots and name ) so she stands in a strange middle ground as the daughter of naturalised parents. her identity is almost non-existent and everyone thinks of lisa whatever they want and whatever suits them best. in one side, her parents seek for her to be the perfect japanese daughter. in the other hand, she is the exotic and wild american in the eyes of her classmates. both are wrong so she fights plenty to find something of her own, something that can separate her entirely from whatever idealised image people have of who is lisa silverman.
she has done everything in her might to break the expectations placed on her. from compensated dating, drugs to her current hobbies: kung-fu and cantonese. so that is a big step and little by little, she has managed to speak up about her struggles...
11. THE CARNIVAL / ARCADE GAME THEY ALWAYS WIN WITHOUT FAIL  /  as she is a big fan of dancing, one can picture her being a strong contender in DDR and games of a similar feature. she is surprisingly good at memorising steps and having great scores and she sincerely enjoys playing and boasting her success. though her friends are not that into it, she will gladly spare time of her day to play by herself.

From the Heart:Chapter One
I don’t write these often so please be kind. I’ll try to release a chapter every week or so.
Rated K+
Set 2-7 years before the main storyline of Bleach
The Morning of the Captain’s Exam
Toshiro laid wide-awake on his futon. The sound of cicadas filled the air outside in the early morning. Sunlight streamed through his window, hitting the left side of his body.
His fears had awoken him in the small hours. It was the same every time- a gripping fear. He felt his temples strain. Rubbing them he slowly pushed himself up.
Ugh, my head hurts. He could never remember what it was that he had dreamt about but the anxiety it caused him was something that took him a moment to shake off.
Looking at the clock on the wall across the room from him, he felt a pang of urgency. Hinamori!
She wanted to meet up with him before he had to take the exam. Toshiro recalled her conversation with him two days prior- her calming voice. It’ll be fine for sure! You’ll see!
He slid across the glossy wooden floor in his socks almost falling into the genkan* where his sandals were tossed along with a few other miscellaneous pairs of shoes and a cat toy.
Kicking on his sandals and fumbling with the laces in his hands he heard a soft knock on the door. “Just a moment-” he half mumbled calling out from behind the locked door. Grabbing his kimono off a hanger in the closet he threw it on over his shoulders, stuffing his arms through the sleeves and tying the sash around his waist.
He already knew it was her. Hinamori’s reiatsu was calm and warm flowing all around him. It reminded him of a pleasant summer afternoon breeze with hints of flowers blossoms- gentle and kind unlike anyone else in all of Seireitei.
Opening up the door, he was immediately hit with the smell of fresh candied red beans. His tense expression lessened.
“Good morning,” he breathed in almost a whisper.
She looked at him through dark eyelashes as she shifted the tin and wax paper around inside to keep the candied beans from falling out. “Morning, Shiro-chan. I brought you your favorite.“ She beamed.
He got lost in the way her hair flowed around her shoulders. She wasn’t wearing it pinned up in a bun like usual. It looked really nice this way he thought.
However looking at her face, he realized that she had tired eyes with bags underneath. The lines in his forehead creased and he chewed his nail.
“Eh? Is something the matter Shiro-chan?”
His eyebrows furrowed more and he looked at her. “Idiot Hinamori. How long did you stay up making this for me last night? Your panda eyes are getting worse every time I see you, “ he chided in a gruff tone.
In reality though, he was concerned about her. Her lieutenant’s duties were piling up as well as his own. It was the height of summertime in the soul society and everyone wanted to be outside, chat with friends over tea, or go for a social night out. No one wanted to do his or her duties. He inwardly cringed, feeling his temple pulse yet again as he remembered the pile of paper on top of the desk in his previous captain’s office. Matsumoto!
She was supposed to be acting captain at the moment, but every time he saw her she was out drinking at the local tavern with Shunsui and Kira. Before he could let his frustration surface he returned his attention to Momo. Her head was tilted downward as she inspected the tin. He almost thought that she had fallen asleep standing up.
Taking one step forward he put a hand on her shoulder. “You really should take it easy. Captain Aizen has you busy doesn’t he?
“Oh um- yes.” Momo flinched ever so slightly at his touch as if she had been in a trance. “We’ve had a lot of new members joining lately so I’ve been falling behind on the paperwork. I feel like there’s a new pile on my desk every morning so last night I stayed up and finished what I had left.” She softly laughed.Toshiro’s eyes glazed over in concern. She didn’t have to do this for him.
“I wanted to see take your test today. Captain Aizen said I could come along if I finished up with the orders from last night, “ she stated with a puckered expression.
He smiled. Toshiro got a kick out of it when she was obstinate like this. It showed a glimpse of her fighting spirit. She was one of the best in all of soul society at combining her kido and tactical skills together. One time she and him were doing a training exercise together in the forest on the outskirts of seireitei and she got the clever idea to ignite the rope holding the targets airborne between two branches with Tobiume all the while using her kido to cause a massive explosion hitting all the targets at once. The force behind this move had sent him back a few feet in the air recoiling from the heat of the blast. He admired her strength and intellect in such situations.
“ Well it can’t be helped then,” he slowly blinked. “You’re still the same as ever, bedwetter Momo.”
Her expression grew lax. “Stop calling me that Shiro-chan!”
“I’ll stop calling you that when you stop calling me by that old nickname of yours!”
“You know that’s not going to happen, don’t you?”
“Hmph.”
She put her hand on her hip. “Well then it’s settled.”
Her eyes stopped in the middle as she was looked at him from head to toe. “By the way your kimono is sticking out over your hakama, “ Hinamori gestured.
Face flushing bright red, he spun around almost slamming the door in her face. Stupid! Stupid!
With the door open a crack she peeked through giggling at him, “ I can’t imagine what sort of impression that would have made, Shiro-chan.”
“Hinamori!”
He puckered his cheeks looking at her through the door trying to recover his embarrassment. When his eyes met with hers he looked away, flush still coloring his cheeks a light pink.
“But-thank you for coming here so early. The candied beans look really good. This must have taken you hours to make, but really you didn’t need to do all this!”
“Ah, it’s nothing.” She said half closing her eyes heavy with exhaustion. “ I wanted to cheer you up. I know you’re really anxious for this today, but you can do it. I believe you. You’re super strong… and that’s my Shiro-chan- .”
“Hey! Hinamori!” He caught her as she went stumbling forward a bit.
She gazed up at him weakly smiling. “Why do you have that stupid grin on your face, bedwetter? “ He questioned a little more harshly then he initially intended and immediately felt bad after the fact.
“Why don’t you come inside for a moment? I’ll get you a cup of tea. Would you like green or black tea?”
“Green please, black tea doesn’t taste all that good to me,” she confessed as he placed a hand on the small of her back.
His cat, Yuki started meowing at him as he closed the door softly behind him. He was a gift from Momo last year around his birthday. She had found him outside in some bushes abandoned it appeared by his mother. When she picked him off the ground he was so cold that she had thought it was already too late. But taking him inside to her quarters she warmed him up slowly with a towel holding him in her lap. He remembered the day she called him frantic and heartbroken.
Together they helped the kitten survive the night and by morning the fluffy snowball of a kitten was running around. The reason she couldn’t keep him was that she was afraid that the fifth division quarters were not a good place for him. Seated and unseated officers alike always came storming through the office without second noticed and the kitten escaped several times nearly being crushed under their feet. Plus Aizen was allergic so that didn’t make things any better.
So without hesitation Toshiro took the cat in. Tenth division’s quarters were a little more updated and spacious due to the fact that at the time Isshin, Matsumoto and him were all living together. He had nowhere to go besides back to granny so this remained both his home and the kitten’s. Of course Yuki didn’t mind one bit.
“Here you are-” He started and pulled up a chair for her to sit in at the kitchen table.“Make yourself comfortable.”
Toshiro light on his feet grabbed a green ceramic teapot off of the stove and turned the water on.
“You can come watch me today, but as soon as you get back to the barracks I want you to go right sleep.”
“But-“
“Momo, no.” Toshiro told her sternly. “ You’re overworking yourself. If I see you after the fact I’ll personally escort you back. No more paperwork, no more baking. Just sleep.”
He sat down in the chair across from her rubbing a dirty spot on the table. “Do you want anything to eat with that? I have mochi in the refrigerator.” He didn’t get a response. She had her eyes fixed on him in a thoughtful way.
“Shiro-chan I didn’t know you were such a worry wart?” She wondered.
He took a quick glance back at her before getting back up on his feet and then stopped in his tracks. She wasn’t wrong. He did worry about her. Probably more then she realized. Toshiro inhaled a breath.
“It’s nothing. I’m just not myself lately.” He turned grabbing the pot off the stove and turning the heat off with a loud pop.
Reaching for a hot pad on the wall to the right of him he clutched it in his hand for a moment as a terrifying thought crossed his mind. I don’t want anything to happen to her. This was pushed out of his mind as he felt the presence of another unraveling as if out of a slumber.
Master, It’ll be all right. You won’t let anything happen. She’s just tired.
Yes I know, but I can’t shake this feeling I have.
Together we are strong. We will protect her. She’s the reason why you have such a wide command over my powers already.
I will try.
“Here. Be careful it’s hot.” He said snapping himself out of his conversation with Hyourinmaru.
Turning his back to her once again he began ambling across the kitchen floor passing into the office area. He became increasingly aware of his footsteps on the hard wooden floor.
But what if I fail? What then?

polyship meme: roleswap tokyo trio?
You go it! For the sake of simplicity, this is assuming a Good Chaos Ending. Also, it’s way too long, so under a cut it goes!
1. A large spider has gotten into the house/apartment. How does each person react?
Naoya and Amane are completely unperturbed. If it’s big enough, Loki catches it and tries to make it a pet.
2. What are their sleeping arrangements? Do they get multiple mattresses, several rooms? Line a floor with mattresses and then make the entire room a bed? Who are the blanket hoggers? The ones who flail?
They’ve probably got a bed for themselves and a futon for guests in the closet. Loki is the clingiest sleeper, he can’t get to sleep without one of them around anymore once he starts. Naoya doesn’t really need to sleep much at all anymore, but the other two wind up being pretty deep sleepers, so he can bring his laptop to bed and work on things during the night while they’re out. Amane sleeps early and wakes up early, almost like clockwork. She and Naoya take turns getting breakfast started, depending on which one Loki’s clinging to that morning.
3. How do they celebrate the holidays? What are the favorite holidays in the household for each person? Are there ever any disagreements about which holiday is the best? Do any of them go all out with decorations and participation in events? Does anyone ever suffer in silent agony that they’re being forced into holiday sweaters or fed too many holiday foods, but out of love they keep their mouth shut?
Loki loves Halloween, especially because in Japan it’s more an excuse for adults to dress in costumes and have parties. He decks out the whole apartment and helps/makes Naoya and Amane pick out cool costumes and invites all their friends over for it. Amane’s complicated upbringing leaves her pretty indifferent to holidays as a whole, but she does enjoy New Years in a low-key way, as a time of reflection and thinking about the future. Naoya has to deal with his own cult trying to establish holidays for him and it weirds him out way too much to enjoy it. Especially since people’s belief keeps him powerful, so he can’t exactly dissuade them. Loki thinks it’s hilarious, though. He keeps trying to give the cult suggestions.
Also they do still celebrate Christmas since it’s more of a secular holiday in Japan, but they all have kind of a dark humor about it.
4. How do they all keep house? Do they assign chores, and if so, does anyone ever slack? Does anyone ever say, “let’s clean” and (most?) everyone suddenly hops off the furniture and pitches in?
They probably have a chore schedule, and surprisingly they’re all pretty good at staying on top of it. Amane used to take care of the apartment herself after her dad essentially disowned her, and Loki had to figure out ways to make chores interesting for his younger siblings to get them to help around the house when he was younger. Naoya’s the most likely to slack - he keeps a close eye on his own stuff and makes sure it’s where he wants it, but he loses focus on the bigger picture when he gets absorbed in his hobbies or Overlord-related work. Usually Amane giving him a vaguely disappointed look will prompt him to fix this.
5. Something contagious is going around! How will each of them handle being sick? Who are the ones who insist on working even when they’re not well? Who are the ones who stay away when they’re healthy? The ones who play nurse?
Naoya used to get sick really easily as a human, but as a demon there’s really nothing that affects him any more, so he winds up just taking care of the other two. Amane is like. Offended at being sick. How did this happen? She has things to do, she can’t get sick now. Naoya and Loki have to make her stay in bed and rest and not just get up and continue her day like she doesn’t have a fever. Loki’s had to take care of his own sick siblings more than once, so he knows the drill and is pretty good at making sure she eats right and stays comfortable.
Naturally, when Loki’s sick, he milks it for all it’s worth to get as much attention as possible, but neither of them really minds.
6. The mess that is deciding where to eat out and what to order.
Naoya is a really picky eater. He has a list of like, five places he actually likes and he orders the same thing every time. Amane says she doesn’t really have preferences, she’ll eat wherever and find something she enjoys, but every now and then she’ll get a craving for something and try hinting at it. Loki usually goes along with them, but every now and then he’ll just bring home take-out from a new place he found, and then keep bringing different things until Naoya finds something he likes.
7. One or more of them comes across a stray animal. How do the family members each react? Who tries to find the previous owner? Does anyone want the others to mind their own business? Do they end up keeping it?
Amane insists on looking for the real owner, and it’s probably for the best. I’m not sure how well an animal would do with these three. A cat might be okay, but a dog would probably need a little more attention and structure than they would be adept at giving. Loki would be affectionate, but careless and wouldn’t think to look up what he should and shouldn’t do with it. Naoya would get frustrated with how much time it needs and how it gets in the way of his work/habits. Amane would do her best to care for it, but she has so much else to do that a pet (especially one that she didn’t have time to prepare for) just wouldn’t seem a high priority. When they find the owner, it’s a relief for everyone.
8. They take a trip to the zoo. What is each person’s favorite animal, and who gets excited about seeing theirs? Who downplays it? Who is willing to wait while the other drags everyone off to their favorite animals, and who tries to tell everyone they’re going to stick to the set path from beginning to end, and everyone will get to see their favorites soon so calm down?
I feel like Amane would really like elephants, for some reason. She doesn’t say anything, because it’s important to see everything so they’ll get to the elephants eventually, but Loki and Naoya notice she keeps checking the map for how many exhibits are left. Loki starts insisting on detours and dragging his feet until Amane finally gets frustrated enough to actually say she wants to see them and they’re going to go now.
(Meanwhile, Naoya eyes the petting zoo sheep with mixed feelings.)
9. Describe everyone going on a camping trip. Who enjoys it? Which one(s) set up the tent? Who would get lost in the woods but is only a few feet away from a gas station?
It was probably Amane’s idea - she’d like the idea of getting out of the city for a while to relax in nature. None of them have camped before, but they’re all fairly smart and have certainly been through worse conditions, so they manage with only a few bumps along the way.
Doesn’t matter. Naoya hates it. He complains the whole time and keeps trying to futilely get a cell phone signal. He only lightens up and has some fun when Loki points out that in the wilderness he can relax and let more of his demonic features out since there’s no one but them to see. He winds up scaring a family going hiking and accidentally running into them. All in all, it’s a good day.
10. Who tells the ghost stories or watches the ghost stories, and who are the ones who need a cuddle sandwich to get through the night every time they encounter anything the least bit spooky?
All three of these kids are like. Immune to standard levels of fear after everything that’s happened to them. Loki loves listening to and telling ghost stories because he loves urban legends and spooky stuff, but it doesn’t scare him, and it doesn’t scare Amane or Naoya either. Amane sometimes enjoys the atmosphere of horror films, and Naoya does appreciate well-written horror, but it’s more of a cathartic thing than actually frightening for either. Also sometimes Loki will rent terrible horror so they can all mock it together.
11. Who steals everyone else’s clothing? Who can’t tell their own clothing from other people’s anymore?
Loki would, if Naoya’s wardrobe did not consist of six identical copies of the same boring outfit, and Amane wasn’t so tiny that he can’t fit into anything of her’s. What he does instead is buy them both accessories and then wears those when he feels like it.
12. One of them starts singing. Who joins in? Who absolutely refuses to join in? If any of them can’t sing, does everyone roll with it, or do they stop and beg that person to stop as well?
Amane probably starts humming along to Dolly’s music absentmindedly, and then Loki chimes in and drags Naoya into it too, despite Naoya having no musical talent at all. Sometimes Naoya sings along to his idol anime tunes when no one else is home, and if anyone ever found out he would die of embarrassment instantly.
13. Who is the warmest to cuddle with? Who is always cold? Who wants the heater up, who wants the heater down, who wants to save money but is cold as fuck and piles under layers of clothing and blankets in the house? Who dies in summer? Who wants to turn up the AC and wait out until winter?
Naoya would’ve been the one most sensitive to the temperature, but once he becomes a demon, he can probably regulate his own body temperature. Amane and Loki take advantage of this all year round. He’s very convenient. Except when they can’t decide whether they’d prefer him warmer or cooler and he gets fed up and moves to a different room.
14. When grocery shopping, who budgets and makes lists? Who happily throws things into the cart and figures it’ll work out? Who estimates their general spending as they pick up items, but they throw in a couple of splurges? Who oversees that the splurges don’t go too far and tells the other(s) to put some or all of the items back on the shelf?
Amane is in charge of groceries. She is very careful that they always have necessities in stock and that they don’t go over budget, and she’s usually very good at making sure the other two don’t go out of bounds. But whenever something comes up and she can’t be involved in the shopping, Naoya and Loki come home with like three bags of various desserts and two of cheap frozen food and store lunches that happened to look good. Their self-control is nonexistent.
15. Something broke down! Are any of them handy around the house with fixing things? Who thinks they can do it on their own and what level of success do they have? Who breaks down and calls a professional out?
Naoya can usually patch up household appliances and computers pretty well since he’s used to helping out Kazuya with them, and what he doesn’t know he looks up and can usually muddle his way through okay. Amane can handle simple repairs alright, but when it’s something that looks especially complicated, she waits to ask Naoya’s opinion. If Loki’s home by himself when something goes wrong, he will absolutely try to fix it himself, and only stop when he is a) bored, or b) he mangles it beyond repair. There is no third option where he succeeds in fixing it.

The Great Adventure - Marmoset There’d Be Days Like This
September 15
It all started with a text from my bestie. “I’m here. We arrived safe and sound!” I never dreamed she would pack up her kids and cat and move literally across the country to New York City. I figured if she decided to move, it would be HOME. In other words, back to Georgia. But no, she decided to go with that pipe dream we had talked about, what I had assumed was a nice little fantasy for a couple of used-to-be dreamers. I thought what we talked about was a “what might have been” had we had the guts to follow our huge dreams right after high school, a dream I killed by getting married literally a year and a month after my graduation. 2 kids helped to shove that dream into the darkest corner of that hall closet that always holds the deflated balls, deconstructed musical instruments, too-small winter coats, and all those games missing just enough pieces to make it not worth the time to pull out and try playing. But it looks like she dug around in that proverbial closet and pulled it out, dusted it off, and put it into play.
Sunny and I have been friends for  longer than I care to admit, she’s known me since before I had my now-grown first born. We lost touch for about 10 years, like friends do occasionally, but for the past decade or so, it’s been best buds. She’s been there for me – well as much as someone who lives in the extreme northwest of the country – and I promised her I would always have her back. So I guess that’s why she moved to NYC. It’s hard enough to up and move three kids to an extremely different place, which she has done more than once on her own, so I promised her I would be there to help her next time she moved. Again, assuming that when she said she needed a change of environment, SHE MEANT HOME. But then that text.
I got the text last week of August, and yeah, I was aggravated. I may not have kids living at home, but I had a job, a cat, and a house full of stuff. I had to turn in my notice to a job that I usually liked even if it wasn’t the best paying job. I had to take my cat to the vet for vaccinations – he didn’t speak to me for a couple of days after that. I had to get my car checked out, a well-loved ’66 Plymouth Valiant convertible, pack it up, and break the news to my parents that I was moving to NYC. None of which went as well as I had hoped. The cat, like I said, didn’t talk to me for a couple of days and hid when I brought out the travel carrier. The people at work were cool, but they weren’t thrilled I was leaving them without a night time puller. And I couldn’t find all my stuff. I managed to get my winter clothes packed and in the car, supplies for the cat, and my linens. But everything else, well, that turned out to be a crap shoot. I was frantically packing everything I owned into boxes and totes. And I didn’t label anything, of course, because that would make sense! My shade tree mechanic uncle looked over my car and said it should make it the 800 or so miles fine so long as I was careful and didn’t push it too much. Yeah right.
The plan was to pretty much take 85 to Virginia, then switch to 395 and 295, and finally 895. I had plans to stop and stay the first night with a friend in North Carolina then a cousin the second night in Maryland. I was going to leave early on September 1, arrive at the new place by night on September 3. But you know what they say about the best laid plans. I didn’t get out of my driveway until noon, promising my parents and son that I was going to give it until Thanksgiving, then come back home if it wasn’t working out. They promised to have the pod with all the belongings I was leaving behind moved into storage for me, and waved me away with a cooler full of snacks. Spazzie settled down with a few pitiful angry muffled meows after an hour or so. I was concerned about driving so far by myself, but I was also excited to try something new.
I was just about to the GA-NC state line when my car began to smoke under the hood. I was able to stop at a little roadside fruit stand. I popped the hood to discover the radiator hose had a hole in it. Thankfully, my daddy had taught me how to deal with minor car troubles and had a roll of electrical tape. But first I had to let the engine cool a bit. The owner of the fruit stand was really nice, letting me and Spazzie come in out of the heat and rest a bit while the hose cooled. I called my friend and let her know I was going to be later arriving, watched some Dr. Oz with my host, then wrapped the split in the hose liberally with the electrical tape. I left the fruit stand with a peck of apples, a couple of jars of chow chow for Sunny, a gallon of cider, and a big cup of boiled peanuts. At the next town I bought a replacement hose and fixed my engine, to the delight and surprise of the guys in the auto parts store. A couple of hours later, almost to my friend’s house, I lost a fan belt. I was close enough that my friend came and picked me and Spaz up, and had my car towed to her cousin’s garage. She also bullied him into fixing the belt that night.
The next day I got going around 7:30 am, trying to make up some time. Right before Richmond, I hit some debris on the highway and lost 2 tires. Thank God for roadside assistance. It took 2 hours and about $150 for new tires. But I made it to my cousin’s houseboat only an hour past my anticipated time. After a filling dinner, I crashed. Next morning I thanked him, dug Spaz out from under a cabinet, and started off once more. The day was beautiful, so I put the top down. This turned out to be a bad idea, because the roof would not go up when I hit rain just before I hit New Jersey. The last 100 miles, Spaz complained about the wet, I kept having to wipe my glasses. And the turnpike was packed. It took 4 hours to finally pull up in front of my new apartment in Brooklyn. And of course that’s when the roof came back up and closed.
Sunny wanted to leave everything in the car until the next day, but I insisted on unpacking it that night, no matter how tired I was. It was a convertible in Brooklyn. I needed everything in that, I didn’t want to lose the things I had brought with me. Good thing I did. In the past 2 weeks, I have had my gas cap, side mirror, license plate, spark plug wires, and hub caps disappear. And I am thankful for the subway and that the community has pretty much everything within walking distance.
Spazzie and Aaron have finally decided they aren’t enemies. I’m sleeping on a futon in the living room. I’m really getting tired of pizza and ramen. And I’m really irritated that the box I thought was my lighter clothes turned out to be my mismatched dishes. I’m not mad at her like she thinks. I’m just in a strange, unfamiliar place with the closest family hundreds of miles away, and dealing with hormonal issues.
Is it Thanksgiving yet?
