i’ve been active in various mcr online communities since literally 2008 and the racism towards ray has never stopped it’s only gotten more subtle and if you don’t see it you’re kidding yourself

#i'm seeing so many people on my dash #saying they've been in the fandom for however many years and it's always been like this #they're all right! unfortunately! #nothing has changed #if anything the racism - overt and covert - has become ingrained into the fanbase #ray is either completely ignored and pushed away #or he's treated as some sort of side character and made the butt of racist and infantilizing jokes #there's no in between #and it's become a cycle at this point #someone will be racist #black and brown fans will exhaust themselves trying to explain why racism is harmful #to people who will performatively engage w/ ray content until things 'calm down' #and then it'll happen all over again #because no one will learn #and this is how it's been for fucking ever #so many people need to check themselves #i've said this before but having a favourite member is one thing #but THIS is a completely other thing and i KNOW these people know it as well #remember when ray was given the puerto rican flag a few shows ago... #and how incredible it was to witness that moment between him and the fan who gave it to him?? #what does it say to that fan and other fans like them and ray himself #when you see that and just continue shoving him out of the picture? #anyway i'm mostly rambling to myself so this probably isn't coherent #but it's just. disappointing and devastating to see this happen yet again #i left that stream cause the constant screenshotting was grating #but. ugh.

i'm going to be embarrassingly open about something very personal right now: as stupid as this sounds, the finale of GOS2 has entirely reverted me to the moment in my life when i was a bright-eyed lovestruck teenager who put *all* my plans and hopes and dreams for a better future for myself into one relationship, and then got horrifically dumped in a way that made me feel entirely worthless as a person for a long, long time

#like suddenly i can feel it like it was yesterday that it happened to me and i just feel something awful in the pit of my stomach #and want to curl up and sleep and not talk to anyone for at least several months #which is a sign of good fiction when it makes you project THAT STRONGLY onto a character. it means they did something right #but good god it doesn't stop it from hurting OWWWWWWWWW #god i swore i's try to keep the gomens posting to a minimum because #i know the dash is about to become intolerable for people who don't care about it because so many people are talking about it #but at this point i would say. if you find this annoying i really wouldn't fault you for unfollowing! #bec i feel like i've just gone on an entire spiritual journey in one night and i'm only going to get more annoying about it lol #gos2 spoilers #also im pretty sure she won't see this considering she's never been on tumblr (or any social media really) #but if she somehow does: hi! i'm still damaged! no hard feelings tho!

Danny could totally blame some of his ghost fight injuries on Dash if he times things right. He avoids questions about how he managed to break his arm AND gets the added bonus of making Dash look bad.

anyway: war crimes are always bad vetting social media posts and screenschots for propaganda is necessary donating is good if you can voting is necessary and yes, effective at slowly moving the needle

but i don't have much patience for the violently antisemetic and/or bothsiderism disinfo rhetoric anymore so even if I think you probably don't understand the substance or implications of what you're boosting, i will probably unfollow or block anyway. for my peace of mind.
