Thoughts on Kalshara?

I don't mind her design? I guess? I'll start there idk- Her Dutch voice is AWFUL imo, I really don't like it, so there's that? Overall I'm just not sure if she. Works. Y'know? And I'm gonna try to keep my bias out of this, because I do have reasons as to why I think that. Kinda.

Like, there's the whole issue where she defeats, what, Bloomix fairies? Who have the DRAGON FLAME? By flying into them as a bird?? Pretty much set her up for failure right then and there, I'm sorry- That doesn't make her seem as a threat as much as it once again shits all over the Winx in an attempt to make the obvious villain downgrade doable. We've been over this, bestie is NOT stronger than anyone who came before her, the situational transformation way out was RIGHT there. Upsetting.

But honestly I'm not sure if she could've worked in. Any situation. And that does kinda come down to her powers, sort of? Maybe? Again, my bias is outside, in the rain and everything- Turning 'wild magic' into the big bad thing of the season was just never gonna fit, not at the time Kalshara was introduced. Not to pull the obvious 'it had been done before', but yeah.

And I don't even have to bring up Duman for this, because while yes, he did a lot of animal transformations- WIZGIZ is also RIGHT there. The OG, the TEACHER, a KING. Y'know who's also right there? Darkar. Was it the main thing he did? No. But did he do it? MHM. And you know what else? DARCY has transformed before. You can argue that's a branch of illusion rather than shapeshifting, but STILL. The concept of transforming has been done before and BETTER. If they wanted to expand upon it (which is fair and valid) it should've been done earlier. I do NOT care.

And you might be reading this like "Milk! wild magic wasn't only shapeshifting!" and you would be correct! One of the other things it apparently does is make its user become more aggressive and take on a different form? Much like. Pollution did to Tritannus? Nah, but in all seriousness! When the Trix go into the wild magic thing and fuse with their animals, y'know what that form is considered? Shape-Shifting Witch. Not Wild Magic Witch, Shape-Shifting Witch. Just find that interesting.

Idk how to wrap this up but there are my general thoughts on Kalshara ig? Sort of not really? Mostly her powers, as generally unbiased as I could manage.

I spent most of last semester just trying to get my feet under me again after I moved, and not that I've done so, I just look around and it feels so empty. My hours at work and school are long, I still haven't really made any friends, I live alone, and it's winter so not only is the seasonal depression there but I can't really go out for a walk or something comfortably. I love my classes and I like my job, and this is where I want to be, but the happiness in that often feels like a thin mask that's holding back this gulf of melancholy and loneliness
