shopping in Greece
♥ greetings from Rhodes, Greece! ♥
Oh, Tumblr. it’s been awhile, again.
I haven’t been able to blog much, as you can see. I’m a type of person who gets really excited about blogging and gets inspired about writing, taking pictures etc. but the excitement soon disappears - however, after awhile the inspiration hits me again, luckily. Also I must state that I haven’t been feeling mentally too great during the past couple of months. A lot of things happened this year and I would like to make an own post about mental illness in general later on when I have the courage to do so. I’m still not okay but I’m taking steps everyday to move forward.
Anyways, somehow, inspiration to write again hit me again today. I’m currently taking a vacation in Greece with my family. Surrounded by sunbeams, the sea, beautiful nature.
But actually instead of talking about Greece or my trip in general, today I would like to talk about a dear hobby of mine, which is a world of make-up. I’m sometimes a bit shy to talk about this subject, to be honest, because I feel like I used to find beauty & make-up obsession a bit shallow subject. I mean I always liked doing my make-up because it made me feel comfortable and it was fun to highlight certain parts of your face by using different methods with make-up. I remember when I was fourteen and we were taught during ballet lesson how to do our make-up on stage, and that was a first time I was actually learning how to use eyeshadows, eyeliners, blush etc. in order to make the features on your face to stand out on stage.
Around the time I was in Iceland in 2017 I started to get into make-up more, it became kind of like a therapy for me. And it still is. When I play with different palettes it gives me a moment where I don’t need to focus on anything else in the world. I know it sounds a bit dramatic - but it actually gives me that feeling.
So, that being said - it is time to talk about the make-up I bought here in Rhodes. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit, but going to Sephora first time in my life felt like a dream come true and I felt my inner materialism happiness to grow to its maximum. I know it’s hard to believe but I honestly try not buy too much make-up in Finland because I know it is not very ecofriendly to keep buying “unnecessary” make-up just to try out new brands - but as I entered Sephora I knew I had to let myself to test out little bit new things. Actually I was mainly aiming for Too Faced and Benefit cosmetics, because those are the two brands you cannot find anywhere in Finland.
My first purchase happened already in Finland at the airport, as I was looking for a travel-size perfume to take with me. Victorias Secret is a brand I used to use back when I was a teenager and most of the scents are definitely too sweet for me to use now. But the scent called “Bombshell” I remembered being more fresh, as it is a mix of purple passion fruit, shangri-la peony and vanilla orchid. So this was not a very spontaneous purchase, because I already had used Bombshell before - but I got one one other eau de parfum called “Rollerball” for free - haven’t tried it yet, though.
And the next one is my new baby. ♥ Honestly I have been wanting to buy Too Faced for so long, watching so many reviews about the products. I always knew I wanted to buy an eyeshadow palette from Too Faced, but I wasn’t sure which one. One of my friend owned the Chocolate bar palette by them and I thought it was a gorgeous palette with nice, neutral shades. But I always watched reviews from the Peach collection. I ended up picking the White Peach palette as the shades were absolutely gorgeous and it had lots of shimmer and glitter shadows which I personally like.

This is a very classic product by Too Faced which I also always wanted to try out. Better than sex Mascara, and I got the travel-size one. I must say, it truly makes your lashes look gorgeous and long. I have loved it so far. ♥ Maybe I have to get a regular size before I leave...
Last purchase I got from Sephora is by Benefit cosmetics, Complexionista face palette, which you can use to conceal, countour, highlight & bronze. I personally have loved Hoola bronzer by Benefit, which I got when I was visiting Amsterdam back in April. So I was really excited to find out they had this face palette, which includes the bronzer I already love. I love the fact that they included creamy concealers also for this palette, because I personally prefer those instead of powder concealers. I haven’t owned a face palette before so I’m not too familiar with them, but as far as I know, the concealers are usually powder ones. The highlights are very natural-looking in this palette, which is totally fine for me - I’m not that into blinding highlighers. The package is absolutely cute also ♥ ♥
The last purchase I’m going to show you is the one I picked from Rhodes’s Old Town the other day. I really love natural cosmetics, for example my absolutely favorite brand is Idun Minerals (I will make an own post about it one of these days)
This pumpkin soap is made in Greece, it’s for dry skin and you can wash your body and face with it, perfect!
Anyways that’s about it for today. I know my English isn’t the greatest and the pictures are what they are because they are from my phone but I really wanted to write because when the inspiration comes I need to use the opportunity.
