A lot of series have ripped off the "superpowered people as metaphor for oppressed groups" shtick from the X-Men but for my money the funniest thing anyone has ever done with it is Infamous 2 with its villain Bertrand, a southern god fearing fire and brimstone type who runs a militia of outrageously dumb redneck hicks with guns who want to hunt down all the mutants sorry "conduits" and keep the deviants out of their city. The twist being he is a conduit. In fact he made himself into one deliberately, expecting to become a glorious demigod and the real reason he's mad is because turns out his powers suck. He is the metaphorical equivalent of that guy who becomes violently homophobic because he craves dick but got no rizz.

My favorite power system comes from Infamous and I’m shocked more people haven’t caught onto it. Conduits are named as such because everyone with a power uses something that can be channeled and taken. Examples:

Cole fires electricity but he doesn’t just generate electricity, he takes it from electrical equipment and in a storm he can absorb Lightning and call it down like he was Zeus.

Another named Joseph Bertrand can twist and control flesh including the people around him. Often turning them into mutant monsters and would turn himself into a giant monster

Lucy Koa has ice powers and does this by absorbing heat from the air. Because of this her arms are always slightly iced over because the air around her is always cold just like with Cole he has a constant surge of energy in him that water can be dangerous to him and others and he once tried to sit in a car only for him to accidentally cook off the fuel tank.

You get the idea. The concept of getting god like power siphoned from a specific source is fascinating to me and creates fun limitations because it has to work within what that is. Theirs no limits to this because some are incredibly specific like an assassin who has power over paper. This doesn’t sound impressive until you see you disappear into a cloud of papers and float away on the wind, fold paper so many times it functions as bullet proof armor and control paper with such precision that she can kill people in a cloud of paper with precise paper cuts. Theirs also a kid who can control Video which doesn’t sound impressive until you see him teleport through TV Screens and create Hard Light holograms to create an army of angels to command. His go to move when in a fight is to encase himself in hard light to turn into a giant Angel with a building size sword.

Conduits when experienced enough are practically gods. I love specific and highly restrictive power systems because you have to be clever in order to make them work.

Infamous: Second Son is pretty darn fun so far but between the graffiti and the skater boy douchebro wannabe punk attitude I really cannot get over how much of a Poochie Delsin Rowe is, especially as compared to Cole Macgrath the protagonist of the last two games who, let's be real, was absolutely headbutting cops and brewing moonshine long before he got superpowers.

You'd been dating the infamous conduit for a while now. Before the powers, before the DUP, before everything really. You'd been there.

It hadn't always been easy sailing, not even a little. There had been a lot of sleepless nights and more than a few tears shed, but honestly, you wouldn't change it one bit.

Delsin was more than worth it.

This particular day though Del was being, well, unusually nervous and jittery, disappearing for long periods of time without much of an explanation.

Then later that night he asks you to meet him at a familiar street in the heart of Seattle. The same one you'd met him on one fateful night long ago.

You arrive a little early, Del leaning against the chain link fence while playing with the chain around his wrist.

He gives you a familiar grin when he sees you, but you can see something was making him nervous.

"Hey sweetness, ready for a surprise?"

Taking hold of your hand, he leads you through a gap in the fence to behind a building with an old DUP billboard on it.

"Close your eyes and don't open them till I say, I mean it. No peaking!"

You can hear Delsin mumbling to himself before something clicks together on your left.

"Alright sweetness, it's time".

You open your eyes to see the billboard was lit up in bright lights.

Only it wasn't DUP propaganda anymore. Instead, it was covered in spray paint. An elaborate interlocking design with bold neon colours. But what it said in the middle is what catches your attention.

Will you marry me?

You gasp, hands coming up to cover your mouth in surprise.

Then you notice Delsin is down on one knee next to you, a small ring box in hand.

"I know I am only a humble superhero conduit, but I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have as my forever side kick. So how about it, wanna get hitched?"

After such a proposal, how could you say no...

I saw people making fan tarot cards in other fandoms and thought if the infamous characters where tarot cards which ones would they be?

example would be like: I think augustine would be high priestess and good delsin would be justice
