😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

looks nervously at my back catalogue that's nearly exclusively filled with angst 😅😅

Okay but the real answer is at the end of the last chapter update of late nights at the old arcade, I let it slip that Kie ran out on JJ after he'd told her he loved her and it was meant to be a slightly shocking reveal/cheeky cliffhanger to get people hyped for the next update and instead I just... haven't updated that story in 7 months WHOOPS

DO I EVER!!! @yellowlaboratory has beta'd a couple of my fics ever since I very shyly anonymously snuck into her inbox asking for advice. I don't even know where I'd be without her but probably not actively writing!! Somewhere along the way I've also managed to con @eye-of-the-storm into looking over my writing too. I unleash the occasional disastrous google doc on @findingplutonium from time to time.... oh and @vamqira gets very special mention for beta reading a number of late nights chapters and reigning in my grammatical chaos despite never having seen an episode of OBX

Basically, I don't have a beta reader, I have a whole squad of cheerleaders that I've coerced into looking over painfully early drafts asdlfkajsdfljk how does a gal get this lucky? I have zero clue

olivia rodrigo crossing SOUR into the sphere of musical theater doesn’t surprise alexis in the least. honestly, she’s been waiting for this particular press release to hit backstage for six months. what shocks the shit out of her - stealing her ability to speak; leaving poor ted to save her phone from sinking into the depths of her kombucha, pretend to be her executive assistant so he can scribble a return number on a napkin, and palm her cheek gently to catch her attention?

tim bringing lucy soup and saltines when she’s sick and sticking around to wash her dishes because he knows she won’t feel like cleaning up while she recovers 🥺

well that didn't take much to make me cry. what the heck stina? 😩 it's such a simple little scenario and that's what makes it all the more sweeter. i can already see tim very softly tip-toeing around lucy in bed and slightly leaning over to where she's lying on her side, brushing her hair back and palming her forehead to manually check her temp before tucking the blankets back up around her shoulders and taking the less then half eaten soup and crackers to the kitchen to clean. 🥺💕
