Oh yeaaaahh haha I used to be crazy about TS3, though in the end I mostly made stories with it rather than actually played 😂

Dug up some story pics for you from 2014 😄 The story was called "Sininen Ruusu"/"Blue Rose" and I was extremely proud of it. Basically it told about a school bully, Crista, who had a difficult relationship with her father (because he was out of town a lot because he was a highly respected businessman) and then she fell for this shy, quiet boy, Noah, and her friends tried to bully him which ultimately made Crista realise how she had been and slowly became a better person. Noah was shot later in the story and her father ended up brain dead because of that same guy (he was obsessed with Crista) who shot Noah, Noah lost his memory and thought Crista is still his bully which ofc created more drama, then Crista got to know who's the shooter and the chapter ended there. Then one of my piggies died suddenly and I ended the story and deleted the blog in a wave of emotion (regretting it deeply til this day, I only have half of the first part's pictures too 😭 The whole story as text still exists but pictures are gone), but Crista would have went to court with the guy who shot Noah and killed her father and then work with Noah so he'd remember her or at least start to trust her/believe her and in the end Noah would have got his memory back and they would have lived happily ever after. (Hshshsh I just realised, they never changed clothes and it was that way with everyone's stories???)

I decided to leave the community at the end of 2016 though because there was a loooot of drama. Not Simblrs though, they were always supportive and I never got one single anon hate message, only praise, but I left the Simblr world earlier than I left the Finnish community because I felt like my English is not good enough + I felt insecure of my sims and compared them to everyone else's sims all the time. People enjoyed my scenery pics and I got a lot of notes on my scenery collages (like hundreds, one of them got almost 5k) but never on my sim collages which made me overthink it. The Finnish sims story community on the other hand had full of unsupportive pricks and cynicism bloomed. I was mostly hated because I almost never finished my stories because my mental health went in huge waves at the time and I deleted blogs out of nowhere in a whim of emotion.

But I also got 3 friends from there who are my friends to this day, actually we're going on a lunch date with one of them next Tuesday 😄

And yeah, maybe I should try 😄 I'm not sure if I want to go through the bug and crash fight with TS3 though, I uninstalled it a while ago because it just took space from my PC because I never felt like fighting with it and installing with my internet speeds will at least take 24 hours.

Also despite me not really liking TS4, I own almost all expansion packs, stuff packs and game packs because a while ago someone literally got angry at me for not liking TS4 and gifted me all of them which were released at the time because she wanted to "prove that TS4 is superior" and then just blocked me??? That was really weird 😂😂 But might give that a try too and try to create a sim/decorate a house/give makeovers to Maxis-made sims and houses, I'd just have to go on a grand CC hunt which I don't really enjoy.

omg all these screenshots are really sending me back in time when I used to write sim stories with TS3, I shall never forget that time... looking back it was so cringe askdjdjdjd but I had a good time still

and your screenshots look amazing! mine were really crusty because I figured out how to use Poseplayer really late, and when I eventually did I went crazy and downloaded every pose I could find lmfao,,, here are some of what I could find in the caverns of my old folders (she was the MC from this massive TMR Newt fanfiction I wrote in like 7th grade, I was obsessed with her but please go easy on me, this was 2013😭):

also, I scoured the old Sims 3 blogs I would occasionally post on in 2014-2015 (this is unearthing middle school relics I didn't want to remember asjdjdjdj) and dug probably deeper than any normal person would've, but I can't remember the name of the particular blog I posted on! I remember doing a Legacy challenge (?), I'll try to look deeper and find it!

I kinda blame you for encouraging me 😅 Though I also thank you for it because this has helped me a little during my anxiety tick season.

I decided against installing TS3 again because I don't feel like fighting with lagging, bugs and crashing, even though I do think it's the best game from the series, narrowly followed by TS2, I like TS2 the best gameplay-wise but I don't really enjoy creating sims or decorating with it as I said in my last ask, with TS3 my favorite ways to pass time was creating sims and decorating. I also liked gameplay but all that lagging, bugs and crashing/CRASHING WHEN SAVING THE GAME were making me want to rip my head off, my heartbeat still rises when I remember those 3428765 times when I was decorating a house I was super proud of and had decorated it for 3 hours straight and finished it, had saved last time an hour ago when two rooms were still undecorated, then I saved but game said HAHA F YOU and crashed. Buuut I decided to venture through TS4 CC to see if I could lessen or even delete features I hate with TS4 by mods, those features which have previously made the game unplayable to me.

And um, nobody told me there's so much mods that make gameplay sO MUCH MORE PLEASANT??? Also the game has included a lot of in-game switches since I last played it. Like the switch where sims can't die from feelings 😅 (I remember literally having one of my favorite sims die from laughter once during I was concentrating in something else……. it was so frustrating, she was level 6 in her career, had a boyfriend + two kids and I had just bought and decorated a new house for them and I was really proud of that house)

ALSO ALSO I've always been a fan of alpha sim CC with TS2 and TS3 but ummmm Maxis Match with TS4 is so cute??? And it fits the world around them perfectly

+ I admire those people who work behind the game so much because they've brought so much new stuff into the game without having to buy anything, and also inclusive stuff through free updates, for example the ability to do trans sims, choosing pronouns for sims and now asexual sims are coming too. They could have made money out of it but instead they made it free (thank god EA thought so too, I remember a Sim Guru saying once that they'd want to lower prices for Game packs and make Kits free but that isn't up to them). Also the High School expansion pack looks really cool!

And I mean I still think the vanilla game is nowhere near perfect nor it compares to earlier installments and kinda feels like it could have been a game in between TS2 and TS3 (again, in my opinion) and I'm still frustrated with a lot of stuff, I have MAJOR complaints about the gameplay especially, for example the lack of open world (visiting a literal neighbor across the street requires a loading screen… I'd kinda get it if you wanted to visit other side of town but why even the home street can't be "open world") + the fact that you can't add new lots, especially the latter bugs me + that when a sim smiles or does any facial expressions, they're super over-done which imo looks ridiculous, I mean I get it that the game is supposed to look cartoony bla bla bla but still.

I 100% agree with you on everything you said here, Jenni! basegame TS4 feels a little bland after a few hours of playing, and it's a shame gamepacks are so expensive, but the CC and mods community works SO HARD and gives us absolutely insane content! modders are out here creating whole ass extension packs for free, on par with EA? like that's insane. my favorite mods to use for realistic gameplay (bc that's what I strive for mostly) are Slice of Life, Life Tragedies, and MCCC (of course). also the attraction system that comes with Wonderful Whims is super realistic and adds a lot to the relationship aspect of the game! If you ever want to share your Sims 4 screenshots / stories / families or houses or whatnot, just know you can absolutely send them my way and I'll be happy to discuss them with you ❤

And I'll answer your other ask (with the story pictures) with some of my own! They're so cringe but I had a lot of fun with them in middle school lmao

Haha Clara, your Sims posts bring my own times with the Simblr community to my mind 😂 I was like uhh 19 at the time? Wow, it's been 8 years, I'm an old hag. I remember being so proud because I wrote these sims stories into my Finnish blogspot blog and there was this content creator who created cc specifically for people who wanted to build restaurants, schools, hospitals etc and she was really popular and all the Finnish sims story writers used her cc in their settings AND SHE FOLLOWED ME and I would say we were sorta friends too?? Haha I remember being so proud about it 😂 Your pics just make me wanna blow the dust off my own Sims games and try creating a sim. (TS4 isn't my piece of cake though, I mean I do love how customizable it is but I personally hate the gameplay, though I guess I could try to just pack it with CC and decorate houses and create sims or do makeovers to Maxis Sims and redecorate their houses with it and then take photos without actually playing because I have the most experience with TS3 and I'm still pretty proud of some of my sims I created back when I blogged about it but damn I hate the bugginess and it being a Crash EAcoot, TS2 is my favorite when we look at the gameplay but I don't really like creating sims or decorating with it so)

I didn't know you used to play the sims too! It's honestly the videogame franchise I've been playing for the longest. i would play the sims 2 on my cousin's computer before my parents bought me the sims 3 and oh BOY... it got me hooked. I spent my best years playing the sims 3 and I wholeheartedly believe that it's the best in the franchise! I didn't plan on buying the Sims 4 actually, I was turned off by the comics-style graphics and the lack of open world. I clung onto TS3 for years, until I played a free demo of the sims 4 and I caved... and here I am, several years and a 4 Go Mods folder later, lol.

maybe you should try creating a Sim too? it would bring back good memories, I'm sure. and it's so relaxing to me!

I’ve been nominated for the Jenny Birt painting award again this year, for my collaborative works with Moore Park documenting my performance of a map I generated from archival material recording the presence of four mountains in the park. It’s called “Summiting Four Mountains in Moore Park (Mount Lang, Constitution Hill, Mount Rennie, and Mount Steel)”.
