You knocked on the wood of the barn to get his attention. It didn’t seem to catch his attention as he was too busy rustling the hay around with a pitchfork. You tried knocking the wood again, hurting your knuckles again. When that didn’t work, you started clearing your throat. First soft then louder. It appeared he was caught up in his own imagination, whistling a bit. – “Jerry!” – you called out as a last resort. Jerry got startled, some hay scooped up in the air as it fell down. Some lost strays of hay falling on his shoulder.
“Y/n!” – Jerry said as the shock wore off. He noticed some hay laying on his shoulder, so he wiped it off. – “Anne is not home.” – he said figuring you came for her. – “I know.” – you replied walking into the barn. Jerry frowned wondering what you were doing here then. – “Nor Marilla or Matthew.” – you let him know.
Jerry set the pitchfork down, leaning a bit against the handle. – “You’ve spied on us.” – he teased with a cheeky smile. It made you pull your shoulders up innocently. – “What are you here for then?” – he asked seeing you smile shyly. His eyes widened with surprise.
“Don’t tell me lovely Y/n you are here to see me?” – Jerry said dramatically gesturing at himself. – “If you are taunting me, I’m not.” – you answered already turning on your heel. Jerry dropped the pitchfork, running over to you. – “Non, non Y/n you shall stay.” – he made clear taking you by the wrist and holding you in place. His reaction made you laugh as you could never stay mad at him.
You let Jerry pull you further into the barn. – “I just have to finish this up and then I am free for you.” – he spoke letting go of your hand. – “I’ll help.” – you suggested picking up some hay from the ground. Jerry quirked his eyebrow up at you. You threw the hay around with a sheepish smile as it made Jerry snort loud. – “Don’t laugh.” – you made clear trying to glare at him.
It made Jerry snort even louder at your face. His laugh made you laugh as well. – “You can sit over there.” – Jerry pointed at a barrel. – “And watch me work. It will be faster.” – she spoke. You obeyed sitting down on the barrel. Jerry winked your way before diving back into the work. You watched how he worked. Fast and organized. Scattering the hay around for Belle, the horse. She needed a warm bed after all.
You were kicking your legs back and forth while humming a song. Jerry started to whistle along with you, occasionally looking over his shoulder to you. – “How is school Y/n?” – he asked to make some small talk. – “Alright.” – you answered stroking your skirt. Removing any wrinkles by hand. – “How are you Jerry?” – you asked in return making him laugh. – “Good Y/n.” – he replied with a chuckle.
Jerry continued to work as you looked around. Blinking a few times thoughtfully, you weren’t sure what you were suddenly feeling. A sense of something brewing. Bubbling inside of you. It took you a few seconds to actually feel the discomfort coming from your stomach. Furrowing your brows, you rubbed your hand over it.
A numb pain let itself know as you felt it squeeze your inside. Making you grab for your stomach. Where was this stomach-ache suddenly coming from? The discomfort grew as it made you cross your legs, bending a bit over to press your hand deep into your stomach.
“You okay?” – Jerry asked having looked over his shoulder to you. – “Fine…” – you answered with distress on your face. – “Liar.” – Jerry spoke back as he suddenly saw you winch from the pain. He let his pitchfork fall into the hay, making his way over to you. – “Where is it hurting?” – he asked with concern.
Your muscles contracted as you panted loud from the pain. Then your eyes widened. Feeling a sudden wetness between your legs. It made you jump off the barrel. You turned a piece of your dress to the front, gasping at the redness of it. Jerry saw it too, making you pull it embarrassed back.
It was your period. – “I…I…I…I’m so sorry.” – you stuttered out feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed. Your cheeks flushed with heat wanting to sink through the ground from shame. You started to make your way to the open gate of the barn to disappear.
“Y/n it is alright.” – Jerry said calmly following you. You started crying feeling stupid and ashamed that he had to see that. Another wave of pain came as it made you flinch at the pain. – “I…I’ll just go home.” – you breathed out not wanting to saddle Jerry with you. You were a mess and you felt like one. – “Non!” – Jerry said firm, grabbing you by your arm.
He started pulling you out of the barn towards the house. – “You are in pain. I will take care of it.” – he said leading you up to the house. He pushed the door open, letting go of you. You stood a bit lost in the room, hands against your arms, blocking your chest. Sniffling loud, you looked embarrassed away. Embarrassed that you had your period around Jerry. A boy!
Jerry started searching the cabinets as he found nothing. He then left for another room, leaving you alone. Feeling disgusted from the wetness between your legs, you felt it leave a thin line of blood going down your leg.
Jerry returned holding some small boxes as he took you again by the arm. He led you up the stairs. Leaving you in the bathroom. There you saw yourself in the mirror. Face red from crying. It made you wipe some sticky hair out of your face and trying to be presentable. What would Jerry think of you now? Jerry returned with a dress. – “Here is it Anne’s, but you can use it for a moment.” – he commented holding it up to you.
You accepted the dress. Jerry then placed the little box on the sink. – “Those are medicine Marilla gives to Anne when she has it.” – Jerry explained. – “I’ll let you change clothes. Do you know what to do?” – he asked. You nodded wiping your cheek dry. Jerry nodded already closing the door. Once shut, you stared a bit lost around you. Till you slowly started to undress.
Sobbing a bit, you cleaned yourself, washing up. You did what you had been taught to keep your dress from staining more. By wrapping extra protection around your waist. Then you took in the medicine for the pain. You gently knocked on the door, letting Jerry know you were done.
Jerry opened the door, taking your blooded dress from you. – “I’ll wash this up so it will be clean when you go home.” – he spoke wanting to disappear again, but you stopped him by calling his name. – “Jerry!” – he paused. – “How… how is it that you know so much? What to do and stuff? I mean you are a boy…” – you spoke. Jerry chuckled. – “I have sisters Y/n.” – he simply said before shutting the door once more. Jerry went downstairs to wash your dress.
Put it in the sink and wash the stain out. You left the bathroom, going down the stairs. Nearly below you stopped to admire Jerry washing your dress. He almost got the stain out, scrubbing hard with soap. When he was done, he turned around, noticing you on the stairs. He smiled lovely at you before heading outside to leave your dress to hang and dry.
He returned, taking your hand to lead you further down. – “How are you feeling?” – he asked concerned leading you into the living room. – “Better, thank you.” – you replied. Jerry sat you down as he came sitting beside you. He wrapped an arm around you. You snuggled closer to him, pulling your legs up with you in the sofa. – “Thank you… for taking care of me.” – you told him, looking up. – “Always lovely Y/n.” – Jerry responded looking back at you.
“I’d care for you a hundred times. I’d wash a thousand dresses if you like. I don’t want to see you in pain or discomfort.” – he told you touching your chin. Lifting yourself a bit up, you neared him. Bringing your lips to his to kiss him. Not just to thank him, but because you actually cared and liked him. Jerry kissed you tenderly back. Then the two of you snuggled closer, cuddling till you no longer had any pain and your dress was dry to change back.

Distracted (PART 2 of Truce)
Gilbert Blythe x Reader
[FLUFF]
Requested: Yes
Summary: After the truce between the reader and Gilbert, things start to feel tense and awkward between the two.
- - -
Anne and Diana stood at the foot of your bed, giggling with eachother as they waited for you to finish getting dressed. They came over to help you get ready for your - as they called - study date with Gilbert.
You trudged into the room, face beet red at the fact that the two girls had been fantasizing about this day for ages.
"Oh, Y/N, you look magnificent," said Anne.
You smiled in appreciation.
"You don't think it's too much?" you asked.
Shaking her head vigorously she took your hand and led you to your mirror. She took your hair in her hands, pinning it back with a little bow.
Diana joined her to revel at your dress.
"He will not be able to take his eyes off of you," she said.
You whined turning to both of them.
"Don't make this a big deal! I'm only going there to study."
Anne and Diana gave eachother a look, grinning at eachother devilishly.
"Well after he sees you, maybe that'll change."
You playfully shove Anne back, widening your eyes at her statement. Not that she was necessarily wrong.
"Anne Shirley Cuthbert! Stop it."
Laughing at her antics you picked up your basket, stuffing your math books inside. Secretly you were hoping Gilbert would be impressed by your attire - not that you were dressing for him...
You walked back to the mirror, eyeing yourself over once more. The dress reached down to the bottom of your knees, with your autumn coat complimenting the colours perfectly.
Okay... maybe you had thought out your outfit a little too much.
Spinning around you grab your friends' hands, hoping their excitement would give you courage to leave the house and see Gilbert.
"I think I'm ready."
The girls shriek, jumping up and down. With one swift move they push you out of your bedroom door. Taking a deep breath you trail down the stairs, gripping onto the bannister for dear life. You prayed that this wouldn't be a mistake - what would you two even talk about?
Oh no...
Turning your head back, you tried to go back upstairs.
"No. You are going. Now," said Diana, grabbing your shoulders and bringing you to the front door.
With one last look of encouragement they practically shove you out the door.
"Go make us proud," yelled Anne as you trudge down the porch.
You keep walking. You were afraid that if you looked back at your house you would want to run back inside.
Which you sort of did.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad...
- - -
The wind in the air caused the grass to ripple like waves. It was the only thing you could focus on as your nerves skyrocketed.
You didn't even know why - I mean you had never felt this way about him before. You always had something witty to say, always been able to look him in the eye and stay calm. Yet the upcoming days to your study session you had barely been able to have a conversation with him without feeling nervous.
The closer you got to his door, the more you wanted to turn back and go home.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) for you, Gilbert had been waiting at the door for you to come. So, as soon as you reached his front door he had already swung it open ready to invite you in.
"Y/N, fancy seeing you here," he said.
A faint smile grew on your face upon seeing his cheery self. Funnily enough, he was both the reason and the cure to your anxiety.
"Of course. I'm ready to finally beat you at math," you responded, still unable to wipe your growing grin.
Moving aside, Gilbert extends his arm out, inviting you in. You set your basket on the table as he reaches for your shoulders, slowly taking your jacket off.
Oh wow.
It was weirdly intimate - with his breath fanning across your neck as he leaned over to reach your height. His fingers brushed across the fabric on your back, pulling the winter coat down from your shivering frame.
You were too afraid to turn your head back to look at him. I mean he was right there.
"So..." he trails off as he hooks your clothing onto the coat hanger.
"I was thinking we could start with algebra?"
You roll your eyes, smiling at his words.
"Gilbert I may be bad at math but I'm not that hopeless," you respond.
To be fair to him all he had seen from you since he got back from his travels was you blanking out on every question asked in class. It wasn't necessarily your fault. You were just always... preoccupied. Preoccupied looking at Gilbert, that is.
Yes. You admitted it. Your mind had been full of thoughts of him ever since he returned to school. The way his eyes glinted in the sunlight, turning his previously black eyes into a warm chocolate colour. Or the way his curls messed up when he'd rush into class on a windy day, scarf strewn about the place.
He was just... cute. Gilbert Blythe was cute.
"Earth to Y/N?"
Speak of the devil.
You were brought back to your senses at the sound of his voice. He had this sweet look on his face as if he was worried about you. His eyebrows were furrowed as he reached a hand over to grab your shoulder.
"Sorry did you say something?"
"I asked where you wanted to start, you know since you definitely have algebra down perfectly," he added the last part teasingly.
You raise an eyebrow at him. Was he seriously starting this right now?
"Right... I was thinking trigonometry."
Before turning away you caught his eyes gazing at your dress, drinking you in with every fibre of his being. They trailed down from your collarbone all the way to the hem, admiring (unbeknownst to him) Diana and Anne's handiwork.
You were trailing off a lot, your mind clearly elsewhere. And he totally knew.
You caught a small grin playing on his lips as he stared at you, mesmerized. His lips, which you now noticed, were incredibly pink and swollen from the cold outside, the blush reaching his cheeks.
"You were outside?" you asked.
"Already changing topics I see," he says as he pulls out a chair for you, proceeding to take a seat across from you.
Again, you rolled your eyes, but took a seat anyway.
He had started explaining the basics to you, his hand motions exaggerating with every word he spoke. However your mind began to wander.
How his soft hands would feel against yours, warming you up on a cold day. Or maybe how it would feel to have his hair tickle the back of your neck as you two hugged, or-
"Y/N!" once again you were shocked out of your thoughts.
You smiled apologetically and muttered a meek 'sorry' before focusing your attention again.
You couldn't believe you were letting yourself be distracted by Gilbert Blythe. For the longest time you had waited for this day to finally come, and now that it was here you couldn't stop thinking about him - even though he was literally right there.
You all but groaned internally, becoming aggravated with your lack of concentration. This was hopeless.
All of a sudden you heard a book snap closed.
You jolt upwards, straightening your back. Shit. You were too focused on not focusing that you stopped focusing!
"I have a sense something might be on your mind?"
Your eyes shifted around the room, trying to look anywhere but at him. Why was this so damn hard? He was just some silly boy who was trying to help you. All you can think about is his stupid smile and his-
"Y/N! Seriously are you feeling okay? You don't seem like yourself."
He had moved now to stand infront of you, hand rested on the back of your chair. He leaned over to take a good look at you. Reaching his hand over to your forehead, he felt the temperature with the back of his hand.
It was warm, soft, and his touch was so tender that you could melt right there.
"I'm okay. Just been distracted lately."
You take his hand from your forehead, skin buzzing at the contact of your fingers almost intertwining together. You place his hand on the table right next to you. This movement had caused his arms to encase around you, meaning you were trapped between him, the chair, and the table.
"Oh yeah?" he asked.
Oh my God. It was killing you being this close to him, yet so, so far.
You nodded, unable to open your mouth in fear that all would come out was incoherent jumbles.
"I can't hear you," responded to your incompetence.
"Yes. I- I have."
"With...?"
His face grew dangerously close to you, breath fanning across your face. His brown curls tumbled onto his eyebrow, blocking his vision slightly.
Your hand slowly raised up, all but trembling in anxiety. Gently, and excruciatingly slow, you push his hair back from his eyes.
His breath hitched in his throat. You had no idea the effect you were having on him, considering he had been trying to hide it all day.
"Why don't we do something about it, then? You wanna talk to me?"
He always knew he liked you. There was never a doubt in his mind - and now as you sat across from him, cheeks reddening by the second, he had no doubt you felt the same.
You were at a loss for words. It's not that you didn't want to tell him. You just didn't know how. Especially with the way your words would catch in your throat everytime you tried.
"Y/N," he whispered. It would've been inaudible if it weren't for the fact that his face was 2 inches away from yours.
Silently, you edged yourself closer to him, now basically sitting at the end of the seat.
His knuckles were now white, holding onto the back of your chair for dear life. He wanted to kiss you, to make a move, but he also desperately wanted to hear you say what he's always wanted you to.
"Kiss me."
And with that any and all constraint he had before diminished.
His lips crashed into yours, the hand that was gripping the chair was now supporting your lower back as you arched closer to him, needing to be as close as possible to him.
His teeth grazed your bottom lip, which caused you to gasp, allowing his tongue to finally massage yours.
You sighed, leaning back and grabbing the back of his neck to lead him towards you. His lips were burning with the sensation of yours against his, and he didn't know if he wanted to pull away.
If it weren't for his lack of oxygen he wouldn't have.
Moving away, but only slightly, you two caught your breath together, your huffs and pants melding into one.
"You still distracted?" he asked, still breathing heavily.
"Now more than ever."
And with that, your lips met once again. Now more passionate than before, as he held onto your waist for stability.
Standing up, you pressed your palms onto his chest, applying pressure to push him backwards.
"If we don't stop we'll never get back to the math problem," you said in a hushed manner.
"Like you were paying attention anyway."
With a playful smack, you pecked his cheek and sat back down, gesturing for him to do the same. He agreed only after you promised that if you get through this question undisturbed, you would have another break with him.
It's safe to say you never finished the trigonometry question.

[ Note: UHM, OF COURSE, I’M DOING THIS ASK, I literally swooned this was so creative, bff, AND please tell me ASAP if I had used she/her pronouns referring to the reader, I got used to writing that, and I hope it changes soon to avoid any mishaps, but I proofread it, and so far I don’t see any, but it is also 1 in the morning, so I can’t be so sure 😭 The title is inspired by MARINA’s song called Froot as I was listening to it while reading this. Anyway, I hope you liked this! ]
Tumblr media
[Name] was criticized because of their form not reaching the beauty standards, and ever since [Name] found out that they were non-binary, it made them feel more insecure. What happens when someone from the town finds out and tells everyone? Would their parents kick them out? It was a roller coaster, and they had to be careful.
There is someone [Name] could trust, and it was Jerry. Jerry had been supportive of [Name] and expressed his love and care for them wholeheartedly, it was one of the things they loved about Jerry. He made them feel comfortable around him.
And, that's why they were able to tell Jerry what they felt when they went to his workplace. Jerry found [Name] crying when he climbed on top of the barn, seeing them curled up. “Hello?” Asked Jerry, slowly walking towards [Name]. “Oh, Jerry! Thank God, you're here...” Muttered [Name] whipping off their tears.
“What's the matter?” Questioned Jerry, sitting down next to [Name], looking at them with worried eyes. “I'm sorry, life's been difficult these past few days, I got a lot of stares from people while walking here, and I want to be with you, right now,” Whispered [Name], as they look at Jerry.
Jerry couldn’t imagine what [Name] was feeling, but he felt bad for them, giving them his full support. “Come here,” Nudged Jerry, pulling [Name] in for a hug. They stayed there for a few seconds, arms around each other.
“In times like those, I'd feel like there's no one out there for me,” Mumbled [Name], causing Jerry to look at them with a puzzled look. “What do you mean?” Asked Jerry, giving them his full attention.
“You know, how Anne goes on about love and romance, and I feel like that's not for me. If I'm going to be getting unfamiliar looks from strangers, I might as well not try and find a suitor!” Explained [Name], sighing after. “I feel like no one really loves me,”
“W-Well, I do,” Whispered Jerry, his body tensing up to what [Name] might say, looking away from them. “What?” Inquired [Name], moving away from him to get a better look. “I like you,” Repeated Jerry, feeling confident this time, “I really like you,”
This sudden confession overwhelmed [Name] with happiness and bliss. “I really like you, too, Jerry!” Replied [Name], giving Jerry a charming smile. After a moment of silence, Jerry looked at [Name], only to find them looking at him back.
“What are we now?” Asked [Name], moving their body towards Jerry to get a better look at him. “It depends, if you would like me to court you,” [Name] swore they almost swooned, they never thought about courting, since they thought no one would ever think about courting them, this was a first for them. “Jerry, I would be the happiest person in the world to court you,” Smiled [Name], holding Jerry’s hand.
Jerry couldn’t believe his ears. He hesitated his feelings for [Name], until recently, and he was glad. When he was with Diana he never felt at his place with her, but now he was with [Name], and they made them feel comfortable with a glance.
After their moment, Jerry looked around the barn to see if anyone was near them, “Would you like me to kiss you?” Whispered Jerry, making [Name] blush. Flabbergasted by the sudden question, [Name] still nodded, giving Jerry a smile.
To their surprise, Jerry unexpectedly kissed their belly, making [Name] jump at the sudden contact. The gesture made [Name] feel warmth across their heart, causing them to grim from ear to ear. He didn’t stop there, Jerry kissed [Name]’s hand, a normal peck but made [Name] feel overwhelmed. “Jerry-“ Began [Name], only to be cut off by Jerry’s chapped lip onto theirs.
Jerry pulled away, looking at [Name] with love evident in his eyes, “J’aime, mon amour,” Muttered Jerry, causing [Name] to giggle with delight, Jerry then decided that their laugh was the sweetest thing he had heard. “I love you, too, Jerry,” Smiled [Name].
Embarrassed that his once dirty cheeks were highlighted by pink, as blush ran up to his face, Jerry looked away. It was clear that his confidence faded after a while. [Name] could only laugh at his antics.
They wished this moment could last forever, but unfortunately, Jerry still had to work. After he had said his bye’s to [Name], his lover, [Name] spent the day thinking about their future with Jerry, and we could say the same with Jerry, too.

Davy Keith. Next Level Troublemaker
Tumblr media
Pairings: Gilbert Blythe + Anne Shirley
Summary: Based on Chapter 10 (Davy in Search of a Sensation) from Anne of Avonlea - when Dora goes missing...
Tumblr media
Anne had come home from her last teaching day of the year, Gilbert would be coming home from Toronto tomorrow, and it had been nearly 6 weeks since she last saw him (when he visited halfway through the term).
She came home to Marilla, Matthew and Jerry running around Green Gables, calling for Dora. Davy was sat on the fence with a smile on his face that Anne would come to learn as 'I know something, but I'm not telling,'
"What's going on?" She asked, setting down her basket, looking at the people she loves.
"Dora's gone missing!" Marilla called, Anne could see Jerry looking in the barn (both floors - even the part upstairs in the hay where she used to hide on summer days as a young girl.
Matthew was wandering around, he'd only recently gotten back on his feet - the heart attack that nearly killed him, almost set Gilbert back a year at University.
Tumblr media
Anne asked Davy multiple times if he knew where Dora was, and even though he told her that he didn't - she had the sinking feeling that Davy was lying to her. They were looking all over the place for the young girl.
"I'm going to check Mr Harrison's," Anne called, heading over to their next 'door' neighbour a couple of fields over - passing Diana on her way (a quick shout that Dora was missing and couldn't speak right then).
Tumblr media
That is where he found Dora, terrified in Mr Harrison's barn. Anne was grateful that the man wasn't at home at that moment. Anne carried the heavy little girl back to Green Gables - thinking about what she was going to say to Davy.
Coming up the worn path to Green Gables was handsome Gilbert Blythe, with his splendid chin. The butterflies that flutter in her stomach whenever she gets a letter from him, sees him in person or even thinks about him - start fluttering happily.
"Gil!" She exclaims, stopping where she is, the beautiful blue dress she wore when Gilbert first kissed her before she began her year at Queen's. "You weren't supposed to get here while tomorrow!" She stated as Gilbert looked up from the path - rocks had loosened themselves and he was being careful not to trip. He had looked up when she first said his name, a smile brightened his face and he rushed up the little hill to see his beloved sweetheart.
"Anne-girl!" He exclaimed, wrapping her in a hug, even though Anne was carrying Miss Keith. Anne let out a laugh, still holding Dora with one arm (a skill she learnt all those years ago when she had to look after children when she still lived in Hopetown. She used to battle with the other children, usually while holding a baby). "I was going to leave Toronto tonight, to get here for tomorrow, but if I left after my final exam yesterday I would get here a day early to see your face," Gilbert slyly pressed a kiss to her nose.
Tumblr media
Dora had explained to Anne (which she passed on to Marilla) that she'd gone with Davy to see Ginger - who is Mr Harrison's parrot who flings profane insults at anyone who visited the old man.
The pair finally got back inside Green Gables with heavy hearts for Dora, Anne was able to get a small amount of watery stew into Dora's stomach - before the little girl wished to be in bed. Anne lifted her onto her hip again, helped the girl get dressed and put her to bed.
Anne sat in the bay of the west window, head held in the palm of her hand. Gilbert sat at her side, rubbing his thumb lovingly into her left temple.
Marilla had found Davy hidden in the darkest corner of the stable, where Anne used to do her crying as a young girl. She stood the now timid boy in front of Anne. She looked up from the palm of her hand, she could see the shame that was shining in Davy's eyes. Gilbert stood up, rested a supportive hand on Anne's shoulder and looked at the terrified little boy. There was no way of getting him out of this.
"How could you behave so, Davy?" Anne asked, Marilla looking over at her adoptive little girl, who was not so little anymore.
"I just did it for fun," Davy said, squirming in the spot he was stood. "Things have been so awful quiet here for so long that I thought it would be fun to give you folks a big scare. It was, too," Davy happened to grin at the thought, Matthew shook his head from his chair, facing the back of the boy.
Anne's face fell, Gilbert knew that Davy's heart wouldn't be able to take how Anne currently felt.
Tumblr media
"Oh, Davy, how could you?" Anne said, there was a slight quiver in her voice, Gilbert took a handkerchief out of his pocket and handed it to Anne - it was one that Anne had sewn for him (with little carrots embroidered between his initials. "Don't you know how wrong it was?" She asked him.
This must-have hurt Davy's heart. Because he had made Anne cry, as two tears ran down Anne's cheeks. Tears were welling up in Davy's eyes, as he rushed over into Anne's lap and wrapped his arms and cried into the crook of her neck.
"I didn't know it was wrong to tell whoppers," he told her after Anne told him off for saying such a word. She sighed, looking over at Marilla and Matthew, the former was sighing heavily at the younger boy's actions. "How did you expect me to know it was wrong?" he asked Anne.
After a couple more tears run down Davy's cheeks, he looks up at Anne. "I'm awful sorry I've made you cry, Anne, and I'll never tell a whopper again," he tells her. Promising Anne that he would never do such a thing.
Davy buried his face back into Anne's shoulder, crying louder than Anne ever had at Green Gables. Anne had a sudden flash of understanding, cradling him closer into her side, and looked over Davy's curly hair to her adoptive mother.
"He didn't know it was wrong to tell falsehoods, Marilla," Anne tells her. "I think we must forgive him for that part of it this time if he will promise never to say what isn't true again,"
Davy looks up at her again, "I never will, now that I know it's bad," Davy said, sobs heavily wrapping his small body. "If you ever catch me telling a whopper again, you can..." Davy said, trailing off, trying to think of a good enough punishment for himself. "You can skin me alive, Anne," he told her.
She rested a hand on the back of his head. "Don't say 'whopper', Davy... say 'falsehood'," Anne tells him, as she would as the schoolma'am she is.
Tumblr media
It was decided that Davy would go a week without dessert, which the little boy was ok with, despite how much he truly believed that he deserved a worse punishment.
Gilbert and Anne were sat on the sofa in the parlour, Gilbert had his arm resting across the back, so his hand was intertwined with Anne's.
"I think you did well in that situation, Anne-girl," Gilbert told her, sneakily pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I was so proud of you," Gilbert told her, a smile on his face.

AWAE 25 Days of Christmas  Day 15: “Please Don’t Leave”
Anne Shirley Cuthbert was a passionate yet introspective individual, which meant that she was prone to long meanderings through nature at any time of the year, rain, sun, or snow.
The latter of this, though, had the unfortunate consequences of bringing with it sudden bouts of illness.
Anne awoke one morning to find her throat felt a little sore and her head warm. She drank some extra tea at breakfast and continued on with her chores. By lunch she was coughing every few minutes. By dinner, she was so fatigued she could hardly keep her eyes open, and when Marilla checked her forehead, it was hot to the touch.
The next day she was hardly able to get out of bed. The day after that was spent in fits of restless sleep, her fever spiking as Anne began to grow incoherent.
On the third day, Matthew went immediately for the doctor in Charlottetown. Marilla stayed back with Anne, trying to break the fever.
It was a ashen-faced, worried Jerry who knocked on the door of the Blythe household at noon that third day, with Marilla’s plea for any help.
Mary, Gilbert, and Bash wasted no time returning with Jerry to Green Gables, where a harried Marilla greeted them. Mary wasted no time taking over the household chores, as Bash alternated between helping Jerry and taking Marilla into town for whatever medicine she needed.
It was Gilbert, along with Marilla, who took over the brunt of watching over Anne during the two day wait for the doctor. A brutal snowstorm had swept across the island, making travelling nigh impossible.
As they waited, they tried everything they could to get Anne’s fever to break. She had barely been conscious the last few days, mumbling things incoherently. A few times, Gilbert had heard her spelling out words, to his amusement. Other times, she sounded like she was crying in fear. Those moments turnt his stomach, and filled him with a terrible feeling of helplessness.
It was sometime between the fourth or fifth day when Anne’s fever finally began to wane. It was still high, far too high, but this small victory felt like a triumph to the weary caretakers.
Marilla left to go help Mary prepare food - whether for breakfast, dinner or supper Gilbert honestly couldn’t tell you - but Gilbert stayed behind with Anne. He was afraid that the moment they left the fever would spike again, and this time it wouldn’t come back down.
Gilbert patted her forehead with a damp cloth, talking to Anne idly underneath his breath.
“If this were anyone else, I’d say you learned your lesson about taking long walks in the snow, but knowing you, you’ll walk right back into a snowstorm the moment you’re on your feet again,” Gilbert shook his head again. “It’s very inconvenient. What if you have to keep missing school? Then how will you beat me fair and square?”
Anne turned her head towards him a little. Her eyes were still closed, but she mumbled something incomprehensible.
“Sorry, I think this is one time where you don’t get the last word,” Gilbert told her. He left the clothe on her forehead, leaning forward so his elbows were resting on his knees. Slowly, careful not to wake her, he took one of her hands in his, running his thumb across the back lightly.
“You had us all really scared, Anne,” he whispered. “You have to beat this thing soon, for Marilla and Matthew’s sake.”
There was a creaking noise from the doorway as Jerry lingered there, something akin to cautious hope in his eyes.
“Ms. Cuthbert said Anne was feeling better?”
“Her fever stopped climbing,” Gilbert explained. “She’s still very sick, but it’s a good sign.”
“Good,” Jerry smiled. “That’s good to know.”
Gilbert nodded, unsure of what else to say. Doctor Ward had given him some tips on how to discuss patient prognosis with their family, but this was a unique situation. Anne was - well, Anne was at the very least a close family friend. And Gilbert knew Jerry, if only tangentially. He had never really known quite what to think of the Cuthbert’s farm hand, who didn’t go to school with them but had his own odd relationship with Anne.
For the longest time, Gilbert’s only knowledge of Jerry was that he was the boy who cut his and Anne’s goodbye outside that cafe short. Gilbert had wondered once or twice what he might have said had Jerry not pointedly ended the conversation.
“Ms. Cuthbert and Ms. Lacroix said the food will be ready soon,” Jerry added. “Said to fetch you to get something to eat.”
Gilbert nodded, releasing Anne’s hand with no small amount of reluctance.
Anne mumbled something, frowning in her sleep as she tossed and twisted in the sheets.
“Anne?” Gilbert asked, nerves kicking into high gear. Was she having another nightmare?
“Don’t leave,” Anne mumbled, her words muffled slightly by the pillow. “Please, don’t leave.”
It was probably another hallucination or dream- Anne’s eyes were still closed, she was absolutely asleep. But Gilbert was incapable of ignoring such a pitiful little plea. He glanced helplessly at Jerry.
“I’ll bring you up some food,” Jerry offered, his foot already halfway out the door.
“Thanks,” Gilbert said, already turned back to Anne. He pressed the clothe to her forehead again.
“Ok, you got your wish,” he whispered, brushing their fingers together again. “Did you want to spell out some words again, for entertainment? How about impossible, to describe you? I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E.”
There was another word to describe her, of course, one with four letters that any child could spell. But Gilbert wasn’t ready to say that one out loud yet.
“You have to get better first, Anne,” he promised. “Then, one day, I’ll tell you.”

AWAE Fic Recs- Full List
Hi! Here is the full list of all the fics I recommend. I will post a more organized way to look at it later tonight, but for now, here are all the fics! On here you can find the author, rating, length (word count and chapter) and a summary directly from ao3. These fics are in no particular order, and everything in italics is my dumb comments! Also, I am hopefully going to keep updating this so please send me fic recs!
Rating Key- G: General Audience, T: Teen and up, M: Mature
1. Still He Offers the Sea Shell  By: Chash (@ponyregrets) Rating: T Length: 5.1k- 1/1
Summary: Gilbert Blythe is back from his semester abroad, and he wants to meet this Anne Shirley he's heard so much about.
First fic I ever read. A classic modern au (book verse)
2.Strangely Are Our Souls Constructed  By: Fandom_freakout, vocallywritten Rating: G Length: 8k-2/2
Summary: In a desperate attempt to get Charlie Sloane to leave her alone, Anne posts a notice of her own. Or,Anne and Gilbert abuse the Take Notice board, much to the amusement, and frustration of the people around them.
Best take notice fic ever! Anne and Gilbert get into a take notice board battle and at first, it’s snarky and sarcastic, but then they start complementing each other and it’s beautiful.
3.say my name, don't ever stop  By: anbethmarie Rating: G Length: 13.5k-5/5
Summary: The gossip in Avonlea is insidious, making Gilbert think it's a good idea to initiate a fake courtship of Anne. Anne makes him promise it won't affect their relationship (because, obviously, they're just friends).Plot twist: it affects their relationship.
Also has a sequel you can read it Here
4.Mistletoe Madness By: avonleaace Rating: G Length: 3k- 1/1
Summary: To bring a bit of fun to the classroom on Christmas Eve, Miss Stacey hangs up some mistletoe. Anne and Gilbert have a bet that Gilbert can make it through the day without getting kissed. Will he succeed? cuteness ensues
5.The Secret of Distance  By: Lil_Readhead (@royalcordelia) Rating: T Length: 26k- 7/?
Summary: Anne and Gilbert embark on their journeys, but stay close to each other at heart. Courting across 1000 miles isn't easy, but they're more than willing to step up to the task. (A post s3 story).
I consider this fic canon. This is season 4.
6.Avonlea's Summer of 1880 Great Game of Capture the Flag! By: christah88 (@christah88) Rating: G Length: 14k- 1/1
Summary: Moody Spurgeon has gathered all the boys in Avonlea between 12 and 18 at the softball diamond for a game of capture the flag. Subterfuge, reconnaissance, undercover missions, and just a dash of chicken-coop-climbing combine to make this a game they will not soon forget. Why? Because Anne Shirley-Cuthbert wants to play, of course, and she demands that the rest of the girls be allowed to play, too.
This one reads like it could be a part of the show. There is also a prequel that you can read Here
7.Limerence By: Ephemeral_Joy (@lydias--stiles) Rating: G Length: 12k- 2/2
Summary: Limerence (n) - The state of being infatuated with another person. Gilbert and Anne featuring paint, photography, mutual staring, glitter and a very supportive Diana Barry
8.truth or dare  By: thearkdelinquents Rating: NR Length: 7k-1/1
Summary: “Anne, truth or dare?” Josie smirked at Anne, a devious glint in her eye. Lifting her chin and looking Josie in the eye, Anne chose, “Dare.” She could take whatever Josie had to throw at her.The smirk on Josie’s face grew larger and Anne was sure she had picked the wrong thing. Without breaking eye contact or even taking a second the think about it, Josie said, “I dare you to go behind that door and kiss Gilbert Blythe. On the lips.”
I love the show New Girl with all my heart so I had to put this one.
9.When the Sun Begins to Fall By: megs368 (@onedayiwillflyfree) Rating: G Length: 76k- 13/14
Summary: "Long time no see Carrots."After nine months of studying at The Sorbonne, Gilbert Blythe felt that he was ready for his upcoming graduation and wedding. That is until his brother arrives, informing him his childhood best friend is gravely ill.
this fic hurts you
10.wishful thinking (mindless dreaming)By: bruadarxch  (@rootedbutfl0wing) Rating: G Length: 12k- 5/5
Summary: “She didn’t mean to, but a comment led to a friend of a friend’s profile and then she sees it. She sees him. Gilbert Blythe. Her old archnemesis turned friend turned... nothing.” Anne is bored for the first time in her life and falls down the Instagram rabbit hole. She finds a familiar face.
Anne finds Gilbert’s Instagram and they end up reconnecting at college and then drama ensues. It’s really cute then it gets kinda sad and angsty and then it’s really cute again. I love it.
11.wonderstruck By: bruadarxch ( @rootedbutfl0wing) Rating: G Length: 14k-4/4
Summary: Delphine Lacroix raves about Miss Shirley and her crazy lessons. Her uncle Gilbert thinks his niece surely has an overactive imagination, but one day he has to pick her up from school and a certain redhead covered in paint from head to toe crashes into him. OR: Gilbert Blythe puts his foot in it when he meets Anne in every universe. Luckily for him, she didn't have any heavy objects around in this one.
Modern au where Anne is Dellies teacher and Gilbert fall head over heels in love with her. Soooo cute, I love. Also, cue Diana berry being the best roommate ever.
12.Imagining Something Worthwhile By: remylebae (@remylebub) Rating: T Length: 148k-3l/36
Summary: “Because when you are imagining, you might as well imagine something worthwhile”- Anne of Green Gables.
Anne is struggling through her mid-twenties, living with her two best friends from high school and starting a new job as an eighth grade English teacher. Just as she's starting to figure this whole teaching thing out, she finds an unexpected someone thrust back into her life.
This is the boy I spent 7 hours reading. It’s a modern au where Anne is a struggling teacher and Gilbert is a struggling med student and they fall back in love. Honestly, the best part of the fic is the best friend relationship between Cole, Anne, and Diana. It’s some pretty wholesome and domestic stuff.
13.You're such a big mess (And I love you) By: gayrefrain (@gayrefrain) Rating: T Length: 6k-1/1
Summary: Anne and Jerry get arrested.
This is one of the first fics I ever read and I loved it so much I read it 2 more times. Modern au where Anne and Jerry get arrested, they bicker like siblings and Gilbert is so worried for her!!! It’s a pre-established relationship and it’s so fluffy and cute ahh. An all-time fave.
14.five days of Christmas  By: thearkdelinquents Rating: N/R Length: 4k-1/1
Summary: SHIRBERT SECRET SANTA!!!!
15.Drive Me Crazy By: serendipitous_rambles(@carrotsofavonlea) Rating: G
Length: 18k-15/15
Summary: Anne Shirley Cuthbert and Gilbert Blythe are next door neighbours, but they despise each other. It didn't used to always be this way, in fact at one time they were best friends. But things change following a personal tragedy for Gilbert, and by high school the two are practically strangers. Anne's life seemed to be going well: she was in charge of organising the school Centennial dance, she was accepted into college, and she was dating one of the most handsome boys in school: Roy Gardner. Only he breaks up with her mere weeks before the dance. When Gilbert's girlfriend Winifred also breaks up with him, Anne comes up with a crazy scheme to get their ex's back: pretend to date to make them jealous. Simple right? If only they don't kill each other first...
The modern fake dating au of your dreams. Includes an iconic scene from 10 things I hate about you.
16.ours are the moments I play in the dark / wild and fluorescent / come home to my heart By: anbethmarie Rating: T Length: 8k-3/3
Summary: Avonlea, August 1914 – England declares war on Germany. Anne Shirley shows up rain-drenched on Gilbert Blythe’s doorstep and learns her fiancé is due to leave for the Western front in a week’s time. All Anne wanted was to have the memory of a few quiet moments alone with Gilbert. The fact that she would get wet through on the way to his house and have to wear his shirt while waiting for her clothes to dry did not enter into her calculations.
This one is basically an episode of a drama tv show and I’m not complaining.  Anne ends up pregnant with Gilbert’s baby and then he goes to war and they lose touch and he doesn’t know he has a child. It’s a whole thing. It’s mostly angst but reunions are chef's kiss (especially ones when they find out their father).
17.Trippingly, on the tongue By: meals Rating:G Length: 8k-1/1
Summary: Gilbert goes to Paris, Anne goes to Queens, and years later they both return to Avonlea and meet again. They should be older and wiser, but when neither of ever admits to their mistakes and misunderstandings, will they ever sort themselves out?
Such a good season three “what if” fic. I’ve read it so many times and I can’t get tired of it.
18.shy daydreams & stardust By: Lil_Redhead (@royalcordelia) Rating: G Length: 16k-3/3
Summary: She can't help how he makes her magic spiral out of control whenever he's around, but maybe she can help him when his own abilities bloom out of nowhere like a lily pad in a teacup. Magic AU!
Anne and Gilbert are both magic and she teaches him about his powers. Very cute!
19.The Post-Exam Ritual of Merriment and Ridiculousness By: wanderinginthewoods  Rating: G Length: 2k-1/1
Summary: Anne, still slightly tipsy, tries to focus as she runs after Gilbert to give him a piece of her mind--but that's not the easiest thing to do when she can barely get her own thoughts in order.
The characterization of Anne drunk is so good and the funniest thing
20.I Belong to You  By: hoddypeak (@shirbertndisney) Rating: T Length: 30k-12/?
Summary: Arranged marriage AU. Anne always wanted to have her own love story, but not one that's decided for her. She doesn't want to fall in love with Gilbert, but after being thrown into many awkward situations with him, the walls around her begin to tumble down. It certainly isn't an easy ride for either of them.
21.Little White Lies… By: writingshirbert Rating: G Length: 16k-10/?
Summary: When Anne agrees to doing Gilbert a favor, she has no idea what she's getting herself into...
A modern fake dating au where Anne and Gilbert are best friends and college roommates that have to pretend to date. Mostly angst so far, but well written. Also, Gilbert seems like a bit of a douche but we will look past that.
22.All my stumbling phrases never amounted to anything worth this feeling By: moonlightconstellations (@leiaslightsaber) Rating: T Length: 3k-1/1
Summary: Anne realizes she's in love with Gilbert. In typical Anne fashion, she reacts by yelling.
I just really love Anne yelling at Gilbert
 23.Anne of Hogwarts By: serendipitous_rambles (@carrotsofavonlea) Rating: G Length: 24k- 14/14
Summary: Muggleborn Anne couldn't believe her luck when at 11 she is adopted by the Cuthberts, who introduce her to the world of magic and Hogwarts. Her wild imagination gets her into trouble more often than not, but she doesn't let that stop her. She sparks up an academic rivalry with classmate Gilbert Blythe, and finds a kindred spirit in Diana Barry. However it's not all smooth sailing, with trials and tribulations throughout the years as Anne seeks to discover everything Hogwarts has to offer. It may not always be easy, but life at Hogwarts becomes the greatest adventure of Anne's life.
As a potterhead I am required to put one of the best Harry Potter x AWAE fics on here. Also the only one that (in my opinion) gets the sorting right (gryffindor!Anne, Hufflepuff!Gilbert).
24.This Home is Vast By: Lil_Redhead (@royalcordeila) Rating: G Length: 6k-1/1
Summary: Delphine Lacroix wants to write a tale of adventure and romance, so naturally she writes the story of how Uncle Gil and Aunt Anne fell in love.
This one is so creative! Fics starring Dellie? Sign me up
25.i picture it, soft, and i ache By: boos (@boosfic) Rating: G Length: 12k-1/1

28.a ridge of lighted heath By: peterstank (@peter-stank) Rating: T Length: 3k-1/1
Summary: He’d overheard her talking once with Diana Barry. He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop but it couldn’t be helped given their proximity. He’d heard it, the bride of adventure, the wife of nature. And how fitting is it that she who has chosen nature as her most fitting suitor is more beautiful than any earthly thing he’s ever known? The freckles on her face are fit to rival all the stars in the sky. Her eyes are oceans overflowing, they are rippling streams and shining waters. She could torch him with her hair and he would happily turn to ashes, to be the Earth, to be loved by her just once.
29.One Iced Green Tea Latte for Ann  By: rosesonraindrops Rating: G Length: 6k-2/2
Summary: Anne Shirley Cuthbert lives for three things: her family, Diana Barry, and Iced Green Tea Lattes. However, Gilbert Blythe, the barista at Anne and Diana's favorite coffee shop, never seems to spell her name correctly, no matter how many times she's told him the right way to spell it. Or, Diana and Anne get coffee, and Gilbert tries his very best to charm Anne with his latte-making skills.
30,but when he walks in i am loved - i am loved By: nosecoffee (@nose-coffee) Rating: T Length: 24k- 1/1
Summary:“Marry me.” Anne drops a plate. She barely reacts to that - Marilla can berate her later, for now Anne has a very good reason to have broken her expensive china. She whirls on him. Gilbert’s not kneeling or anything. He's just standing there, in her kitchen doorway, with a painfully earnest look on his face. “Are you kidding?” She says, laughing nervously. He shakes his head.
Fun story: I once spent hours looking for this fic and almost started crying when I didn’t think I could find it. So you know it’s good.

GiLbErT bLyThE [3:30 pm]: when should we meet up to work on the project?
A fic told entirely through text messages! Really creative and good. Paper Rings is my favorite Taylor Swift song, so that also helps. It also has a sequel where Anne and Gilbert get married that you can read Here
32.Anne of Nova Scotia By: coffee666 (@frappuccinio) Rating: G Length: 32k- 5/?
Summary: In an alternate life, neither Anne nor Gilbert were orphaned. Yet, they still found their way to one another.
I’ve never seen a tag better than “I’m not claiming to know how boats work”
33.If the Sea Should Part  By: Lil_Redhead (@royalcordelia) Rating: G Length: 35k-6/6

36.Welcome to Toronto By: simonsjumpers Rating: G Length: 13k- 4/4
Summary: Anne visits Toronto, buys trousers, charms everyone she meets and engages in a book-duel with Gilbert... And Gilbert can't help but, kind-of, accidentally, propose.

50.a rose amongst thorns  By: not_so_weary_pilgrim Rating: G Length: 7k-3/3
Summary: Anne swallows, so hard that it hurts. His head is bent over her hand, and she suddenly realizes that with all the growing he’s done in the past year or so the top of his head is an uncommon sight for her. In fact, the last time she saw those dark curls from this vantage point was when he bowed after their dance practice at school. She nearly flinches away from memories of that golden afternoon, when Gilbert’s eyes never left hers, when she was only vaguely aware of anyone else being in the room, when he pulled her closer than the dance required but it still wasn’t close enough.
Anne gets hit on the face and doctor gilbert in action!!!! He is way too worried about her but it’s very cute and well written.
51.doctor's visit  By: seashel  Rating: G  Length: 1k-1/1

Summary: IF THERE WAS ONE thing you needed to know about the cuthbert-baynard family, it was that the two and only children did not get along. and it wasn't the 'not getting along' like constantly arguing, no, they just didn't speak. it was like they absolutely hated each other and no one quite knew why. especially gilbert blythe, who had been best friends with jerry since before he could remember. it's always just been the two of them, until jerry's father remarried, moving them three streets down in a rather large house.

64.The Many Faces of Gilbert Blythe By: Purple_Slippers_18  Rating: T  Length: 50k-10/10
Summary: Anne was looking forward to meeting Avonlea's new schoolmaster, and if she could only stop herself from being distracted by the memory of a tall, dark, handsome stranger that she knows she'll never meet again, she was sure she would make an excellent impression on the new teacher, no matter what Minnie May had to say
65.Into the Sun By: goldinavonlea (@goldinavonlea) Rating: T  Length: 5k-1/1
Summary: Summer had arrived in Avonlea. In all truth, summer had arrived in Avonlea several weeks earlier, but the inclement internal weather of Anne’s life of late had rendered the view rather cloudy from her window for a while there, and so perhaps it was better to say that summer had arrived—finally—in Anne. And what a summer it was. Or, Anne and Gilbert spend 5000 words ignoring all rules of Victorian propriety in favour of becoming the human embodiments of warm syrup.

Summary: They sort of become a family, her and Jerry and Ruby and Gilbert (after she forgave him for the thing they don’t speak about), and they were annoying little shits who ate all her food and trashed her apartment, but... she was happy. It was a slow realization, one that didn’t really strike her until she was sitting on the floor in her pajamas, watching Ruby smack Jerry repeatedly after catching the boy stealing her Monopoly money as Gilbert rolled around in tears clutching his stomach.
Friends Au! I just love it so much
69.you don't have to say nothing - you don't have to say you're mine By: goddessbeltane Rating: M (warning: rape/non-con) Length: 27k-1/1

74.The 10 Rules of Anne and Gilbert's Fake Relationship By: anexistence Rating: G Length: 18k-4/11
Summary: She’s kissing Gilbert Blythe, who is surprisingly eagerly kissing her back. Ew, she’s kissing Gilbert Blythe. Anne pulls away, and masks her horror by smiling sweetly up at him. He has that warm yet bemused look on his face. “Hey, there” he smirks, and Anne wishes she could just wipe the smirk away. “A favour for a favour,” she whispers. “You owe me some brownies, Carrots.”
75.thin ice  By: antspaul Rating: T (warning- eating disorder)  Length: 30k-7/7

But things are the way things are. Nothing can be done about that. Diana will be beautiful. She just has to stay in control." When her world seems to be falling apart at the seams, Diana Barry finds power in the strict regulation of food. At the same time, her friendship with the Cuthbert's farm boy grows into more than she could have expected. And so she spirals.
The other not shirbert centric fic (but they are mentioned). Whether or not you like Diana x Jerry it's still really interesting to see a fic from Diana's perspective. Mentions of eating disorders are VERY graphic. Stay safe kids. There's also an (uncompleted) sequel Here

Summary: Five Times Gilbert Blythe says "Carrots"

84. Shirbert One Shot + Drabble Collection By: Lil_Redhead (@royalcordeila) Rating: G-T Length: 43k’

Suddenly Anne must learn how to navigate the modern world, one which contains a boyfriend, a part time job, and another year of university. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but most people can't tell the difference between the redhead they know and the girl who replaced her. Anne (and Ann) have to learn to live as the other and try to find a way back to their own homes.

the space between the letters: Jerry Baynard moves into Green Gables ft. unexpected mail (awae fic)
“This is... mine?”
The unbelief in Jerry Baynard’s trembling voice echoed through the room in which the Cuthberts were saying belonged to him now.
It wasn’t Anne’s room, of course. No one, however close to the Cuthberts, would be able to fill the physical and emotional void that Anne Shirley-Cuthbert opened when she left for Queen’s College.
Marilla would visit Anne’s gable on the particularly hard days. She’d make sure that no dust was collecting on the dresser, on the sentimental objects Anne had adopted throughout the years. On the days when her longing for Anne and the laughter and stories she’d bring to the kitchen table made it difficult to complete basic tasks, Marilla would tiptoe into Anne’s room and lie on the bed for a few minutes, inhaling the fading scent of her daughter in the sheets.
“Yes,” Matthew smiled shyly, glancing quickly at Marilla. “It’s all yours.”
Marilla said nothing, but she felt joy that they could provide something good for the boy who had eased so much burden from her family, most especially her younger but aging brother.
“I– this bed– it’s mine?” Jerry ran his hand over the soft cotton sheet that lay perfectly uniform on top of the mattress with a feather touch, afraid someone would wake him up from this wonderful dream.
“Yes. This room and everything in it, is yours. It’s the least we can give you, after asking you to live away from your family to help take good care of the farm,” said Matthew.
To help take care of us, Marilla thought.
“I don’t know what to say,” Jerry spoke with tears in his eyes, finally allowing himself to believe it. “I’ve never had a room to myself before. Thank you, Miss Cuthbert, Mister Cuthbert. Merci beaucoup.”
The Cuthberts were a blessing to him and his family. He was but a child when they had hired him to work on the farm, yet Matthew had trusted him like any other capable hard worker and trained him in the ways of farming. His first wage was spent covering overdue expenses his parents had accumulated since moving to the Acadian camp. Since then, his parents found good work and with their salaries combined, they made enough to support their large family, and then some. Jerry Baynard sought to repay the Cuthberts for how they’ve bettered his family in ways they’d never fully know.
“Well,” Marilla managed to choke out. “Don’t go thinking now that this room is yours that it is yours to neglect. I expect you to keep order in here, understand?” She meant to sound strict, to hide the tide of emotion threatening to bubble out of her chest, but the smile on Jerry’s face caused her voice to catch. “And I expect you to make your bed soon as you wake in the mornings.”
“Yes, of course, Miss Cuthbert. But I’ve never had a bed before, so I don’t know the proper way to make it after I sleep. Will you teach me?”
“I will. But pay no mind to it now, seeing as it is your first night at Green Gables, after all. Once you get situated and finish unpacking, you can join Matthew in the barn. Supper is in two hours, so ten minutes to I expect the both of you to be washing up and getting ready to join me at the table.”
“Yes, ma’am,” said the two in unison as Marilla fled the room before she could do something foolish like cry.
“Now, you let us know if you’re in need of anything,” said Matthew, putting his arm over the boy’s shoulders. “Welcome to Green Gables, Jerry.”
“Thank you, Mister Cuthbert,” Jerry turned quickly to his mentor and friend to embrace him.
“Oh, no need to thank me, son. You’ve done us all mighty proud.” Matthew patted the boy’s back. He smiled at the observation that Jerry had much grown since he first came to work at Green Gables. “Well, now. I’ll let you unpack. Meet me in the barn when you’re ready.”
Alone in his room, Jerry looked around at the simple furniture that was most extravagant in his sight. A bed, bedside table, dresser, and a slightly cracked mirror that hung on the wall, which was more than he could ever ask for. He glanced at his reflection and briefly pondered what changes this next year would bring.
Jerry opened the dresser to begin organizing his clothes and things, and upon finding a shriveled flower in the top compartment, he immediately smiled at the thought of Anne. He hoped his dear friend was doing well at Queen’s and not feeling homesick, as he was beginning to feel now. He knew it would take a while to get adjusted to the quiet of Green Gables. At home, there were so many Baynards that silence was an odd luxury. He missed his brothers and sisters and parents, and Jerry wondered how Anne, such a boisterous soul, endured the quiet all her years here.
After supper, and after all was said and done, Jerry Baynard slipped into bed and had his first uninterrupted sleep in weeks. His youngest sister made it a habit to wake him up in the night to accompany her to the outdoor washroom, since she was deathly afraid of being in the dark alone. Jerry had faith that the sibling closest to him in age would take his place as little Adelyn’s protector from the darkness. That night, Jerry Baynard dreamed of Green Gables, Victoria (the new cow whom Jerry named after Victor Frankenstein), and a redhead in the forest who welcomed him with a bright smile.
-
It was seven in the morning, but Green Gables and its residents were wide awake. Marilla was baking up a storm in the kitchen, in preparation for the board meeting which she, Rachel Lynde, and Muriel Stacey would attend in four hours. She intended to use her plum puffs to mould the stubborn men into flexible clay. Rachel would be the potter, not her, mind you, for Rachel Lynde had a way of persuading people who had made up their minds they would not be persuaded.
Jerry Baynard and Matthew Cuthbert were working hard plowing a plot of soil for Marilla’s vegetable garden when Marilla rang the breakfast bell, summoning them to the kitchen.
After washing up, they took their place at the table and noticed Marilla’s gleeful expression for the first time.
“We’ve received a letter, Matthew. From Gilbert Blythe.”
“Gilbert?” Matthew shared a curious look with Jerry. “How is he?”
“Very well,” she grinned. “He’s asked us for permission to court our Anne.”
“Court?” Matthew’s eyes bulged. “Well, now. I thought he was going to–“
“He didn’t. He is now studying at the University of Toronto.”
“I thought he didn’t–”
“He does. Said so in black in white, in the letter. Here, see for yourself.”
“He didn’t think to ask in person?”
“All explained, in the letter,” said Marilla, extending the paper to her brother. “Read it yourself.”
Matthew waved it off. “I trust your decision.”
“Matthew Cuthbert, this is a serious matter that involves the both of us as much as it does Anne. We need to decide, together.”
“Well, now. I don’t know much about courting,” supplied Matthew weakly.
“But you do know our Anne,” said Marilla, aggravated. “It’s got to be our decision and you will help me write the reply letter to Gilbert Blythe, and that is final.”
“If you don’t mind my asking,” Jerry interjected, “what decision are you leaning toward, Miss Cuthbert?”
“Well, yes, of course,” smiled Marilla. “Gilbert Blythe is a commendable person.”
“If he’s so commendable, I wonder why you need my opinion,” Matthew mumbled.
Marilla ignored her brother. “Jerry, would you like to write anything to Gilbert?”
It was now Jerry’s turn to look surprised. “Me?”
“You do live under our roof now, so you’ll be seeing Gilbert around when he comes calling for Anne during their summer break. And, aren’t you good friends with Anne? Think on it, and let me know. All right, let’s not let the food get cold.”
-
After milking the cow Matthew had bought after finding later they needed more milk than they thought, and after feeding the goats, he finally read the letter in the kitchen. He read Gilbert’s request to court a flame-headed girl who rooted herself deep in both of their hearts and pondered hard on all the factors. The main one being Anne’s happiness.
Marilla returned from the board meeting and had just entered the house when she heard Matthew’s voice.
“My answer is yes.”
“Pardon me? Hold on a minute.” Marilla hung her shawl at the front and slipped her feet out of her boots and into her indoor slippers. Placing a basket that was emptied of all traces of plum puffs on the kitchen table, she looked at Matthew expectantly.
He cleared his throat. “I, uh, I suppose it’s alright for Gilbert to court Anne. My answer is yes.”
“It is?” Marilla fought back a giddy smile because Matthew looked so serious. “Really now?”
“Yes. They care deeply for each other and Gilbert’s letter– I read it. He loves her, loves our Anne. And... she loves him, too, told me so herself that day.” Matthew cleared his throat again, looking at Marilla hesitatingly. “So are we agreed?”
“We’re agreed. Thank you, Matthew. I’ll write our letter to Gilbert now.”
“Don’t write if your eyes are too tired,” said Matthew gruffly. “You’ve had a long morning.”
Marilla allowed herself a smile now. “So have you. I’ll be calling you and Jerry in for tea in an hour. Would you mind giving this to him?” Marilla handed a cream-coloured envelope to Matthew. “After reading Gilbert’s letter, I forgot about the second one the postman delivered. It’s addressed to Jerry. No sender’s address.”
Jerry Baynard had just finished collecting eggs from the chicken pen. He smiled at the remembrance of Anne and the fox she sought to protect and was startled when Matthew tapped him on the shoulder, almost dropping his basket of eggs.
“The postman delivered a letter. For you,” Matthew extended the mysterious envelope to Jerry, who now looked perplexed. He wasn’t in the business of receiving any letters.
“For me? From who?” Jerry stared at the letter in Matthew’s hand.
“No sender’s address,” shrugged Matthew. “Here, take a break. You’re due for one anyway,” Matthew said, taking the basket of eggs.
Jerry tentatively shoved the letter down his pants pocket before pumping a drink from the well outside. After drinking three pints of water and being unable to find more reason to delay opening the envelope, he fished it out and examined the elegant writing.
Ignoring the uncomfortable feeling stirring in his stomach, Jerry gently ripped open the flap and pulled out a single sheet of paper that had been folded delicately. His eyes widened as he read
To: Jerry Baynard
From: Diana Barry
-
At tea, Jerry was preoccupied with the contents of his old beau’s letter, so when Marilla asked again if he wanted to write something to Gilbert, he said yes without thinking.
Marilla handed him the letter she and Matthew had finished writing, along with a pen. Jerry snapped out of his thoughts then to address the Cuthberts.
“Did you give Gilbert Blythe permission to court Anne?”
“We did,” smiled Marilla as Matthew nodded slowly. “He plans to visit Anne at Queen’s and accompany her to Avonlea during one of the harvest weekends. We shall see him then.”
Jerry smiled at the thought of Anne being swept off her feet and experiencing romantic love, and of teasing her about her new beau. He only hoped that she wouldn’t be kin to heartbreak anytime soon. Knowing now what he wanted to say to Gilbert Blythe, Jerry’s brows furrowed in concentration as he picked up the pen and wrote as neatly as he could:
P.S. Félicitations, Blythe! Please say hello to AnnE for me. Take care of her good or I’ll feed you to my dogs. À bientôt. See you soon.

Dating Anne Shirley HCs
Anne Shirley Cuthbert x Fem!Reader
[FLUFF]
Requested: yes
Summary: title is self explanatory
- - -
well to start off, it isn't easy being together in such a society
especially back then with people's views on homosexuality and just women in general
i mean how could two women eveerrr sustain themselves? (🙄)
at first you two thought you were just best friends, like how anne and diana were - but as time went along you realized there was something different about you and her
your friendship wasn't exactly identical to her and diana's - anne didn't feel that you two were kindred spirits, but somehow you two were more
she could never find a word for it until one day she found a definition in a book that seemed to perfectly describe what you two were
soulmates: a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural like affinity; kinship of spirits
while it was similar to kindred spirits, she felt soulmate described you better
for anne, she's a very open minded person, especially being friends with cole and aunt josephine - so to her, she began to realize she liked you quite quickly
you had known you liked girls of course, but never did you think anne did
so for the longest time you had hidden your feelings towards her, not wanting to admit tht you liked her and ruin your friendship or make her uncomfortable
i mean she liked gilbert, right?
WRONG
you had found out one day while overhearing a conversation with her and ms. stacey
"ms. stacey, do you think two women could ever thrive together in this world? romantically of course. oh wouldn't it just be splendid?"
ms. stacey agreed, letting anne know there were plenty of places that were evolving and being more open to new kinds of love - "they're like secret lairs, and they're wonderful; if you can find them," she had stated
"like aunt josephine's party. i see. well i should take Y/N shouldn't i? oh i'm sure she'd love it!"
and with that she yelled a thank you to ms. stacey and sprinted out the door to find you
to her surprise you were already outside, mouth slightly agape at the sudden realization that anne liked you back
and that's how you two found out
anne was very open with her feelings, always, so you never lacked reassurance or words of affirmation
she's a very proud girlfriend, i must say
"you got a b on our last test, that's amazing!!"
"anne you did better than me," you laughed
"so what? you did great too"
will always, ALWAYS hold your hand under the table if you're having dinner with marilla and matthew
she knows its nerve wracking to meet her family, even if you had known them for a long time
she'll draw patterns on your hand with her thumb, and when you're alone she'll do them all over your arm
if you let her she likes to draw on you occasionally
nothing too big or flashy, just little designs where only you and her will know they're there
she once wrote 'i love you' above your knee, knowing no one but you and her will ever see it
she was really one for forbidden love
she just thinks its 'oh so romantical and tragic'
speaking of love, you were definitely the first to say it
anne knew she loved you for a while, but her conflicting feelings held her back from ever making the first move to profess it
as much as she longed for love her entire life, it also scared her
it's not something she's always had in her life, so now that she had it she didn't know how to act
i mean she had no idea what she was doing, but she would never let you in on the fact that she was a nervous wreck around you sometimes
whenever she makes her usual silly mistakes she will immediately think you hate her and that she's not made for a relationship
but she soon calms down after many many times of you reassuring her that you love her
you always assure her that just because she makes mistakes or upsets you doesn't mean you'll leave
and it takes her a while but she eventually finally believes you
she is definitely more mature now, so she doesn't do as many stupid things as she did before
her love language is quite literally everything
of course physical touch and words of affirmation are a big part of it
but she also loves to make you little gifts, or collect things on her walks for you
especially flowers or leaves
your whole room is full of all the little trinkets anne gives you
she'll sometimes write notes along with the gift such as: "because it's beauty reminds me of you"
or for special occasions like your birthday or christmas, she will write you a love letter and hide it under your pillow for you to find
she's also big on quality time
she'll plan picnics for you two when the weather is nice, or even just bring you climbing on her favorite tree
"i've never brought anyone up here, it could be like our special place"
or if you had to study or do homework she will gladly sit in silence on your bed while you finish up
and to piggyback off that point, acts of service are also a must
she'll help you clean your room, or do laundry, or help you with homework that you're stuck on
and she loves having mini fashion shows in your room, helping you pick out which dress to wear for what occasion
she will do anything and everything for you and you don't even have to ask
she is possibly the most loving person you have ever met, and you are forever grateful for her
on particularly hard days when you have to be apart for long, she'll sneak out with you to meet you halfway from your own home, just so she can watch the stars with you
you guys savour every and any moment together
if you're comfortable with it, she would want to make you guys officially public
she just wants the whole world to know you're hers and she's yours
there is never a boring moment with anne, and whether you like it or not, she is ALWAYS sticking by your side
she aspires to be like aunt josephine when she is older, so definitely look forward to living in a lovely home with her as her life companion
she would find books for you to read, especially ones where she could find lesbian characters, because she loved seeing your relationship represented in books since she loved reading so much
it meant a lot to her, so one day for her birthday you got her
knowing she loved unique and creative books, you bought her 'Carmilla' by Sheridan Le Fanu - the book depicts a lesbian vampire, and anne loved it
"the author is also irish, i know it's not quite scottish - but it's close," you'd say, wanting to make the gift as special as you could
"thank you Y/N. it's wonderful"
and she'd have the biggest smile on her face, dimples on display and her ginger braids laying gracefully atop her shoulders
the most 'anne' thing anne has ever done in your relationship is trying to reinact poses from art pieces that she'd she in her books
"oh, Y/N they look just like us don't they?"
this activity was always filled with giggles and smiles, as anne would recite dramatic monologues to profess her undying love for her 'one and only Y/N'
she really was good at dramatics to be fair
i could go on and on, and to reiterate, there is never a boring moment
and never a moment where you feel unloved, or ignored as anne will do anything in her power to show you how much she cares for you
and once you get to college, things start to look up for you two
"no boys allowed in the dormrooms - and the curfew is 7pm"
you two gave eachother sly smiles as you set down your bags in your shared room
"of course, miss. we will make sure that no boys enter this household" anne would say as she held back a smile
you two burst into fits of laughter as soon as you were alone, collapsing on your bed together, hair intertwining and hands finding eachothers in mere moments
"i'm happy i met you, Y/N"
you blush, her words never failing to give you a fluttering feeling in your stomach
"i'm happy i met you, anne"

ART DECO | Benedict Bridgerton x Reader (almost complete)
reader is super clumsy and benedict is always there to take care of her (he would hold her when she’s about to trip and maybe wipe off something that’s on hand he always thought he sees her only as his little sister. but when he sees her with another man, who is just as considerate with her as he is, he’s afraid that he would lose her forever.
HAPPINESS IS A BUTTERFLY | Anthony Bridgerton x Reader
Would it be possible for you to do an Anthony Bridgerton x fem!reader where it’s like that scene where he brought a candidate list for a wife and the when it’s time for him to interview the reader, he gets emotional because she did something to him that reminds him of Siena. So instead of interviewing her, he told her everything about Siena, and how sad he was when they both broke up. And the reader consoled him, and she promised to help him get Siena back. They became best friends and the reader become super close with the Bridgertons, and one day she talked with Violet telling her about Siena, hoping she would finally accept her. The reader would also go to Siena’s flat to tell her how much Anthony loves her still. Anthony finally gets Siena again, but when he saw the reader having a great time with another man (like the scene where Kate got into the boat) he becomes jealous, and that’s when he realize that he falls in love with the reader all this time.
TRAINING WHEELS II | Anthony Bridgerton x Reader
Dark!Anthony x reader where they’re at a ball and no one has danced with her all night because Anthony threaten any man who did try, so that way he could swoop in last minute and save her from further embarrassment.
GIRL OF MY DREAMS | Anthony Bridgerton X Reader 🚧
How about a request where Anthony is head over heels for the reader because of her motherly nature. First, he sees how she would play with Daphne’s son, and he just feels how great it’s like to be taken care of (like the reader would take care of him when he’s sick and help him with all the family duties) since all this time he took care of his siblings. The Bridgertons (and Simon) sees how in love Anthony is with the reader and they help with the proposal plan.
THE MAN | Eloise Bridgerton X Reader
I’d love some headcanons or a sort of fic of maybe it getting out and back to lady bridgerton that Eloise is in a secret courtship with another women. Eloise and her mom have a rather angsty relationship, her mom is so desperate for her to find love and be happily married, it’d be interesting how she would react to this. Would she accept that Eloise has finally found love, but it’s just not with a man.
BLISS | Jerry Baynard X Reader
Can you do a Jerry x Reader where Jerry is hiding from reader whenever anne brings her to the cuthberts because he has a huge crush on the reader and he doesn't think he's good enough for the reader to be her bf and reader thinking jerry hates them. So reader approached jerry quietly and leads to a confession.
PAPER RINGS | Prince Friedrich X Reader
since you asked for bridgerton requests,, what about prince friedrich x reader who traveled to london to find a man to marry(the bridgertons host her since she was a friend) and she immediately thinks of going for the prince because he would be the smarted decision for her family and she just wants to marry him but he asks so many questions that makes the reader be like wait omg he’s not only a prince but he has a brain for himself and i find him quite funny and he’s genuinely interested in me and they end up in like a garden or something and she confesses that she originally didn’t see him as anything more than his title and he has a moment of ‘..what’ and she says like ‘—BUT i found something better than just a prince i found someone i may want to give my entire self to and share thoughts with’ something like that and he like walks away from her in the garden and back to the ball and she just sits there crying about how she fucked up and then the next time there’s a ball where the queen is present he asks the reader to dance with him and he doesn’t say anything to her just ignoring her and then after the dance he takes her to the queen and profusely confesses his much he loves the woman next to him and says like ‘usually people only see my title,, but she has learned to look past and truly see me’ and like i much rather favor pearls over diamonds
I received all of your requests! But, these are the few I’m working on.

Unread - Jerry Baynard
Request: Hello!♡ Could I please request a romantic one with Jerry Baynard from 'Anne with an E' and a female reader? Something where it starts angsty where she tells him “I’m afraid you’ll end up seeing me the way I see myself.” and/or “I don’t deserve you.”->“You deserve everything. and it ends fluffy when he confesses his love for her, but she doesn't believe him?
I hope that's alright for you and thank you!♡
A/N: I really wanna watch this again but I know I’ll just cry the whole time.
Anne with an E Masterlist
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
“Good morning,” you called as you slipped through the narrow opening in the fence. Jerry was sitting on the porch of the Cuthbert’s, gaze turned down to the book in his lap. It was still early in the morning, the sun just beginning to rise in the sky. You’d been gone two days on an errand for Marilla back to Charlottetown and while you had expected to enjoy the city, you had found yourself missing Jerry more than anything else.
With Anne away at college, the Cuthberts’ had decided that Jerry needed help around the farm. Neither of them wanted to part with Green Gables, not that you could blame them. You could still remember that first ride up to the house in the carriage, eyes wide as you took in the scenery around you and the sheer beauty of their farm. They’d sought out help in Charlottetown and Matthew had returned with you, around Anne’s age, looking for work that would keep you out of the less savory parts of the city.
“Hello!” Jerry’s familiar accent reached your ears and you smiled unconsciously as he set aside his book to greet you.
You liked Jerry, not simply because his opinion mattered to the Cuthberts but because he had been a good friend. Sweet, earnest, you weren’t shy to admit (at least to yourself) that you had a crush on him. It was unfortunate in a way, because you knew he could never see you the same way. Rachel had let slip, when she’d visited a week earlier, that Jerry had gone with Diana Barry for a short time. Though you didn’t know Diana personally you knew she was smart, wealthy, sophisticated. Certainly better than a hired helper for the farm.
“What are you reading?” You asked, for the sake of the conversation so early in the morning. What little education you had managed to pick up over the years had not included reading or writing. You had an excellent memory but that was only by default, because of a lack of ability in other things.
“Ah, one of Anne’s books she’s left behind.” He replied, holding it up for you to see the title before he said, “Pride and Prejudice...I’m not so sure I like it.”
“I’ve never read it.” You admitted honestly.
“It’s very...it’s about people who are in love with each other but afraid to admit it.” He replied, “I’m not much for romance.”
“Nonsense,” you teased, “You’re very romantic Jerry. You picked out those flowers for my birthday.” You recalled the daisies that he’d wrapped in a bouquet for your birthday a few months back. He’d given you a card too but you had never even opened it, knowing you would never be sure what it said and too embarrassed to ask Marilla to read it for you.
Jerry couldn’t help the smile that passed when you mentioned the flowers. He’d picked them from the patch of garden near his family’s house but he’d been nervous to give them to you. Even more so, to give you the card. He’d taken Anne’s advice, writing down all the feelings he had for you in a letter. When you thanked him but never mentioned it again, he assumed that meant you didn’t feel the same way. And why should you, he could only hope that someone like you could like him as much as he liked you. “You liked the flowers then?”
“I thanked you for them, of course I liked them.” You insisted, grabbing the rubber boots off the mat and beginning to take your shoes off. It was a farm day, that much you were sure of.
“You thanked me when you got them...” he replied, as if that meant something different. “You never said anything about the card.”
“The card?”
“The card that I gave you.” Jerry explained.
“Well I,” you paused, thinking of the well-worn envelope that you had held in your hands every night before bed, running your fingers over your name written in pencil. You’d thought about the card every night, wondering what he might’ve written inside. Was it just happy birthday, was it something else? You bit your bottom lip, resisting the urge to run from the situation at hand. Maybe you should’ve had Marilla read it to you, “I can’t read.” You finally said in the smallest voice.
“Oh,” he would’ve hit his head on something if he could’ve, if only to knock some sense into himself. He’d been unable to read for so long and had been offended when Anne suggested anything about reading, how could he have done the same to another person. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“That’s alright.”
“It’s not,” he insisted, “I shouldn’t have assumed. You just seemed so...smart about the world.” He said, stumbling over the explanation. “Anne taught me how to read, I could teach you.”
“I don’t think I’d make a good student; I’ve never been too good at learning.” You admitted, thinking of all the times your teachers had admonished you.
“You pick up things around here easily. How Marilla likes the house kept or how Matthew prefers the chicken coop to be. You aren’t slow about learning.”
“I’ve never thought of them as being the same.” You replied, picking up the book that Jerry had laid aside, “you’re a good friend Jerry, I don’t deserve you.”
“You deserve everything.” He was quick to reply, genuinely serious. You deserved far more than he would be able to ever give you but he certainly liked to think of being given the opportunity. “My card, for your birthday, Anne told me that writing down my thoughts would make them clear. I really like you, seeing you in the morning makes me happy...I wrote all that in there. How much I like being around you and how I’ve thought of us being more than friends.”
You felt like your breath caught in your throat as you looked at him. You had thought about the possibility of being those things to Jerry but you had never let yourself get too swept up in the daydream. “I can’t...let myself imagine that. I’m afraid you’ll end up seeing me the way I see myself.”
“Maybe it’ll be the other way around?” Jerry suggested.
The door clanged on its hinges behind the two of you and you looked up startled to see Matthew bustling through the door as if he hadn’t just interrupted a conversation. He took a seat on the bench, greeting both of you as he pulled his boots on for the day.
“Morning Matthew,” you greeted, placing the book aside and standing up.
Jerry stood just after you, offering his own greeting as he promised to look into the barn first thing as Matthew gave out orders for the morning. “I’ll meet you in the barn.”
“Alright, don’t dillydally.”
“You should go,” you instructed as Matthew headed down the short path to the barn, “he’ll scold you for being late.”
“Hardly.” Jerry replied, “he’s late himself.”
“Jerry.”
“I meant it,” he said, ignoring your warning, “give me a chance? Maybe you’ll end up seeing yourself the way I see you.” He didn’t need to tell you how that was because when you looked at him you could see it for yourself. The feeling nearly took your breath away all over again.
“After we finish our work.”

AWAE ep10 fanfic PT.1
Anne stared at the vast sea. Never had she felt so hopeless. With the injustice happening with Kak'kwet and her family and the school burning down, her love. Her unrequited love. Gilbert.
She struggled to hold back a sob but once a while the fire princess too needs to weep too. Tears flowed at an unstoppable rate, she sat before the blue sea imagining Gilbert reading her note and avoiding it, standing with Winiferd arm in arm, a beautiful ring gleaming on her finger.
She remembered the day they had danced, the night at the miss Stacy's house, Christmas when they blew candles together. His eyes, his little smirks. Through her tears Anne found herself smiling at the mere memory of him.
'That all he'll ever be now.' She thought closing her eyes painfully. She swallowed hard and pushed herself off the ground.
As she walked home she forced herself to think about the situation about Kak'kwet, but she was too tired.
She joined Marilla and Matthew by the fire in the parlor and leaned her head on Matthew's shoulder.
"Anne?" Marilla whispered.
"yes?"
"Rachel was telling me about an event happening in Charlottetown day after. It's at the town hall and is going to be very grand," she paused and looked at Anne's confused expression and smiled."The greatest influencers come and speak their minds there. And it is attended by most of the town, elite and local."
Anne clicked the pieces together,"A place to talk about Kak'kwet!! An important crowd! In Charlottetown!" She hugged Marilla,"Please tell me I can go!"
"Of course!! Rachel and Miss Barry both have volunteered to escort you! Now you must go and prepare, the Globe will certainly print your article then!"
Anne cried tears of happiness and hugged her family rushing up to her room.
"Maybe," Marilla said after she was out of sight."She'll find a fine gentleman there too."
Matthew immediately looked disheartened, "She's loves Gilbert. I know he loves her too. " He looked at his sister, "I've seen this happen once, never thought it'd happen with her." Marilla didn't say anything, she just stared at the fire, get thoughts miles away.
***
Next morning Anne boarded a train to Charlottetown. Marilla and Matthew were to come the next day. She was anxious. Not only about the speech but about possiblity meeting someone. This time he'd have a fiancé.
Cole's bright red muffler was a stark contrast to the grey mass of Charlottetown. He smiled wide as Anne approached him, forcing a smile unable to forget a certain boy.
They embraced tightly, it had been almost six months since they met and Cole sure had grown. Ladies stopped by every once in a while to look at the golden haired boy with a dazzling smile.
They reached the Barry resident, Anne had by this time updated Cole with the recent events and he sat dumbfounded as Anne hopped inside.
"Ah! My lovely girl!" Josephine smiled and escorted her to the parlor as much was to be discussed, Diana had also arrived shaking her head as repeated Gilbert's words.
Anne escaped to the terrace for a while. Gilbert. She must go to the Rose family tomorrow and congratulate Winiferd. It hurt just to see then together tomorrow, where they would announce their engagement.
She forbade herself to think about him anymore. This was a time for justice. Tomorrow was a big day.
***
Marilla Cuthbert sure did have an eye for fashion, for the blue dress that she has stitched up for Anne was simply breathtaking. With her hair up and a little stain if red rose on lips, Anne looked beautiful.
Marilla, Matthew, Rachel and the Barrys along with Cole waited for her in the foyer. When she came downstairs everyone was left speechless while Diana and Cole stood proud besides her.
She blushed a little and said, "We must get going."
The town hall of Charlottetown was humongous. It were big enough to accommodate the entire Avonlea population it seemed.
Anne entered behind the rest, feeling anxious than ever before. The guard looked at her red hair and remarked,"Are you sure you're at the right location miss? I don't recall seeing another red head here?" He snickered,"And you're unescorted, you must go."
Anne's eyes widened in rage she said, "I pride myself for having red hair sir, and I am very sure if the location!"
"And she is escorted." A husky voice said behind her. She turned up see a handsome man no other than eighteen or nineteen. He had deep green eyes and a wonderful head of dark brown curls.
He wore a smart grey suit with a blue tie, about the same colour of Anne's dress.
He smiled a stunning smile at her and gently placed her hand on his arm and escorted her inside. That precise moment. The entire hall turned to see the fine couple. He smiled down at her awestruck face.
"Hello, I'm Roy Gardener."
Soo.... Do you guys want a part two?
