the delivery of pete's line "all my life, i just wanted a girl to like me... but i guess it's not all roses, huh?" is so fucking heart shattering. even through all the grief and dread and fear and hopelessness you can still hear that he still feels some happiness and relief that she does like him back. even though he knows he's about to die. it still matters. it still matters that steph likes him. and not only does she like him, he is what she cherishes most in the world. he is the single most important thing in her life, to the point where insatiable eldritch horrors want her to sacrifice him to them and would not accept anything else from her. this horrifying situation is conclusive evidence that she is just as hopelessly in love with him as he is with her. it's clear in his face and the way he talks about it that mixed in with all the worst emotions possible, there's still some joy alive there. still some misplaced excitement, even though he knows it's about to be snuffed out far too quickly. god it's so complex and messy and real and it makes me insane

Since pretty much everyone who's watched Spies Are Forever (myself included) enjoy seeing Curt and Joey act opposite each other in other works as well, and since the Hatchetfield productions give us a lot of different character combinations for them, I was curious which character combinations people find the most interesting. This isn't intended to necessarily be about shipping, but just what duo you like having interact with each other the most, either from what's been released so far or potential future character interactions.

Tin Can Bros tinlightenment streams are such a wild place because where else are you going to badger Gabe Greenspan into digging a hole and then pressure Joey Richter to do a sandwich trick in said hole? Where else are you going to hear James Tolbert explain what poppers are?
Where else are you going to debate how much money it would take to get Brian Rosenthal to do full frontal nudity? Where else could you watch Joey Richter cringe in on himself like an imploding star and then give such an unhinged definition of the term "uhauling" that it almost defies belief?
Literally every time it's a wild ride. Yesterday we got to hear Ali Gordon and Angela Parrish sing a very Dolly Parton-esque song called My Ass in Bio. It changed my life. Truly a zeitgeist moment.
Bryce Charles and Mariah Rose Faith Casillas come so prepared for debate streams that it genuinely feels like a fistfight (but like, the snappy one from West Side Story)
On one of the first streams we learned that Curt Mega (actor) believes that Curt Mega (agent) has 3 or 4 illegitimate children he doesn't know about. Like mmhhmm, yes, when I watch Spies my primary thought is definitely "oh yeah, this character has sex with women."
Where else are you going to hear Mary Kate Wiles speak THE iconic line from The Godfather- "you come to MY wedding?" Or say gaythem when the Sacred Text appears? Or ask Corey Lubowich if a straight man told him to do this?
PLUS we get to see Diane Lopez-Richter in iconic lil outfits. That's worth 200k on its own frankly

Yall really liked my Curtwen quotes dang okay lol. So more thoughts! Something I haven't really seen talked about (maybe it has and I missed it) is Owen is left handed, which makes sense because Joey Richter is himself. This helps make the staircase scene look so good in that you can have both Curt and Owen aiming at eachother for extended periods of time without making one of them turn their back to the audience.
What interests me is the DMA is right handed from what we see of him. Again most likely an actor thing but within canon it's fun to think about for me, because it shows the dedication Owen put into this role to seperate it from himself, as well as a testament to how long he "played it" for Chimera. By quite literally changing his basic instincts all the way down to what hand he uses to grab a weapon during split second decisions.
Man maybe Owen really should have been an actor...
