sooo.....
in my internetless time i have begun reading savage eden, and........
....... i like it!
the name did have me scared there, for a second, but i have been pleasantly surprised. the writing is leagues better than any other self-published book i have ever read, the characters dont feel like cardboard props, and even though the main character is of the standard would-be-called-unrealistic-if-a-woman uber-capable masculine male lead variety, i actually like him as a person and a character!!! hes not a douche!!!! hes a single dad out there making it work, and there have been ZERO inner monologues about how horny he is!
thats almost more than i could possibly ask for in a paleo novel written for adults.... its not 0% horny but i am so relieved...
its still not as good as your average published book (though i have read at least 1 worse) but its still a page turner.. which is all that a book needs to be.
there is hope for this genre yet

In the 1980s, Disney approached HOWARD ASHMAN to write music for a film of his choice. Choosing THE LITTLE MERMAID (1989), Ashman not only wrote the music, but also served as the film’s producer. Highly acclaimed for “giving a mermaid her voice”, Ashman had a heart and soul for all the characters of the film, pouring his own imagination and love into his original creations. The actual voice of Ariel, JODI BENSON, worked with Ashman on one of his Broadway shows “Smile”. Invited to audition for the Mermaid project once “Smile” ended prematurely, Jodi won the coveted role of Ariel over 500 actresses. So passionate and nuanced had her recorded performance been of “Part of Your World”, it inspired Disney animator GLEN KEANE, who was assigned to animate Ursula, to beg for the task of animating Ariel. Not only was Keane granted this request, but was even given the ‘Directing Animator’ title for Ariel, before he would go on to animate The Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan, and Rapunzel. While Ashman tragically died of AIDS in the 1990s, Glen and Jodi continue a personal friendship to this day. They will both appear in a documentary about Howard Ashman, which is slated to hit Disney+ in Summer 2020.

Alright. So, that wedding party I went to on Friday? Yeah, I really wish I hadn’t gone to it now.
Apparently, when my dad went to the toilet, one of my uncle Kev’s friends was in there, talking to someone else. My dad was saying that this friend was telling this other bloke about how he and Kevin were standing out on the veranda one morning, fat Cuban cigars in one hand and an expensive cup of coffee in the other, looking over the land.
And you know what my uncle says to his friend?
“I wonder what the poor people are having for breakfast this morning.”
Poor people.
The fucking cheek of it.
Like, I know we live in a shithole and we don’t have a lot of money, but we aren’t poor. We can still afford to put food on the fucking table.
So fuck that family. I’m done.
Oh, and if you see any books written by K. M. Ashman, don’t buy them. He’s a privileged fuck and he and his family make fun of the poor.
