Jadus sneered under his hood when he felt that prickle of presence; There was someone aboard that isn't supposed to be.

He leaned towards his Master, whispering into her ear while she finish her discussions with the ship's commander about their travel to the Sith world Korriz for one of her fancies. Darth Zash passed him a little grin and waved him off. With a nod, he left with Khem Val acting as her guard - much to the large Deshade's chagrin - while he walked in a manner of obeying his Master.

It took a moment of seeming to be checking on a matter towards the ship's engine room, that prickle was uncoiling itself at his back - perfect. With a draw of both their lightsabers, the two performed a constant among all Sith - the beginning or end of a rival.

When Duncan finally reached Osatagar and passed through its crumbling gates, he was greeted first by a few of his fellow Wardens, including Alistair.

And after the month he had, seeing his loyal, Junior Warden was very refreshing. He needed to remember that not everyone hated him.

“Commander!” one of the men called out to him and waved. “You were gone longer than you said. Is it that hard to find the Dalish?

“There were... complications,” he replied, dismounting his horse and then steadying the beast as it shuffled beneath its uneven burden.

Alistair frowned at that and approached . His eye caught the blanket-wrapped and rope-secured bundle laid across the front of the saddle and the boy’s forehead creased even more. “What is--?”

The blanket gave a sharp flail and the horse stomped angrily and shook its head. Then it gave a tiny buck.

Duncan lunged to grab at one of the ropes, but the blanket had already slid to the ground with a heavy thud and a curse. “Grab her!” he snapped at the other warden.

Because the Keeper had tried to warn him. Lyna Mahariel was one of their best hunters if not the best regardless of her age, but she had always been left a little wild and let to do as she pleased because of the circumstances of her birth. She was the clan’s favored child and had been spoiled for it. She would serve the Wardens well, but she would break the whip of command sooner than bow to it.

And the three times he had to run her down and drag her back had proven that. After the first chase, which had taken them across a river (the clever girl had correctly assessed that his armor made swimming impossible for him and he had been forced to find an alternative route and he had lost her trail for a whole day), he had taken to tying her wrists. That had worked only until he realized that she could somehow work the knots free and another, shorter chase, followed. Then, he had tethered her at the waist with her hands behind her back and that worked until they camped and she slipped free from that too. That was when he settled for the blanket.

The worst part was the complacency she had lulled him in to each time in between these attempts. Marethari had called her fierce , but Mahariel had also been loved by her whole clan and not just as a fellow clansman. She was kind. Charming. She even managed such when speaking to him and he had expected open hostility.

He would have to write Riordan so someone could at least enjoy this story.

At present, the blanket had slumped down far enough to reveal Mahariel’s snowy hair and tattooed face. When the other warden made a grab for her, she snapped at him with her teeth and tripped him at the ankles with a sweep of her leg. Then, with much more grace than anyone else could manage given her current predicament, she rolled to her feet and even still tried to dart for freedom.

It was Alistair that caught her this time and it was probably his saving grace that her arms were confined. “Agh! No!” There were dwarven berserkers that couldn’t scream like that without stripping their vocal chords. “Let go of me, shem!”

“Okay, fiesty pants, you need to calm down! And... are you okay? Duncan, is she okay?”

“I’ll be fine once I get back to my clan! They are going to cross the sea without me! They have never undertaken such a thing!”

“Mahariel has been stricken with the Blight,” Duncan replied calmly. “Her Keeper’s old magics have kept it at bay so far, but we are running out of time.”

The warden she had sent to the ground was collecting himself, half-amused and half-annoyed. “The Joining is hardly a mercy, Duncan. Is she worth the trouble? Let her run off and die if she’s so determined to be foolish.”

Mahariel locked gazes with him next. “No one asked for you shems to intervene! No one ever does! Then one of yours comes around my camp, brings this illness, brings those creatures, costs us Tamlen! You think it’s foolish that if I am to die, I want to die with my family than among you? Fight me, shem!”

The other warden looked impressed and turned to Duncan. “She’s fought Darkspawn?”

“And several Blight-corrupted creatures, if I had to guess from her descriptions alone,” Duncan replied. “I would not have conscripted her if I did not think she had promise.”

“You had to conscript her? Even with the Blight sickness eating her alive?” The other Warden started to laugh. “I take it back. I’ve got to see this. The Darkspawn don’t know what they’re up against now!”

This 4×4 alternate MOC is a kind of rebuild of the 1990 Rally support truck 8850, or is at the very least impressed by it. It mimicks the final design (though the wheels are comparatively massive), in addition to just a few of the small print, such because the engine, higher entrance lights, antenna, and aspect panel.
