wait, is that TUCKER “TUCK” ATKINSON? they kinda look a lot like NICK ROBINSON, don’t they? i heard the TWENTY ONE year old is known as the THE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN around mckinley. it seems like they auditioned to be in THE WARBLERS which is so lame? people at campus have said they’re RESPECTFUL, but don’t be fooled since they’re also BLUNT. rumor has it, you can find them at DALTON BASEBALL when they aren’t belting show tunes. their entire vibe revolves around WELL WORN COWBOY BOOTS, A FISH OUT OF WATER, COUNTRY MUSIC BLASTING FROM THE SPEAKERS IN A CAR WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN but no one pays attention to that here in ohio.

His Mom and Dad split when he was only 2 years old, the divorce was messy and though Tucker was originally going to be living with his Mom full-time she passed less than a two years later in a car accident. His Dad didn’t want custody of him so he moved in with his Grandma and Grandpa on his Mother’s side who raised him until this point. They gave him a wonderful childhood filling their home with love and hard work believing that if you wanted something bad enough and you worked hard for it, you could achieve it.

For his first year of college he was originally attending a small college in rural Tennessee on a baseball scholarship as a pitcher. But, the coach that he had agreed to play for received an offer to coach at Dalton instead when the season ended. Starting this new year fresh and moving far away from home he decided to follow the coach and play for Dalton hoping that the slightly larger school and the better competition would push him forward. Unbeknownst to him when he took the new scholarship, his grandparents just told him that his Dad (the one that left him when he was 2) is living just an hour away from his new school.

Tucker has always liked singing, his grandpa taught hims how to play guitar and he was even in a few musicals in middle and high school but he never thought he would have the opportunity to join a show choir like The Warblers until one of its members overheard him singing on campus one day and asked him to join. He’s one of the newest recruits in the group being that it’s his first year at Dalton and so-far he’s not completely sold on the Academy of all boys but is getting used to it.

FREDDIE IS DEAD

ROCK star Freddie Mercury is dead — just two days after he confirmed he had AIDS.

The Queen singer's parents were at his bedside as he slipped away late last night at his £1million London mansion.

His spokesman Roxy Meade said just before midnight: "Freddie Mercury died peacefully this evening. It was the result of bronchial-pneumonia, brought on by AIDS."

The 45-year-old gay star's death stunned the showbiz world. Comedian Kenny Everett, a close friend, said: "He burned the candle at both ends and in the middle."

Radio One DJ Simon Bates said: "I can't believe that he's gone so suddenly.

"Freddie was a man who played hard and paid the most dreadful price. The saddest thing is that the world of entertainment has lost a great genius." Simon was working [Contiuned on Page Four]

[Continued from Page One] through the night at the BBC preparing a tribute to Freddie which will be broadcast later today.

Freddie's parents Bomi and Jer Bulsara had rushed to his bedside from their home in Feltham after being warned he was close to death.

His closest friend and former lover Mary Austin was also with him at the house in Kensington, West London, as she had been daily for the last two weeks.

Their seven-year affair ended in 1977. She married and Freddie became godfather to her son Richard, now two.

Freddie's doctor and close friend Gordon Atkinson was with him at the last.

Dr Atkinson said during three visits to him yesterday: "Freddie has slipped bit and I shall be staying here tonight "

HOPED

Freddie's body was taken away by a mortuary van at 12.40am watched by a handful of fans.

The street outside his home was filled with 20 police in four vans and two cars.

Freddie announced on Saturday that he had the killer virus after months speculation.

DJ Tony Blackburn, who has lived next door to him for five years, said: "All I can say is that I am very, very sad."

Former Sun columnist and music expert Jonathan King said: "Freddie was without doubt the most outrageous star that rock ever produced. We could badly do with more like him now."

Queen's last single The Show Must Go On was almost an epitaph.

A private cremation is to be held later this week.

THE KING OF QUEEN

He made them a supergroup worth £100m

FREDDIE Mercury was an outrageous, over-the-top character, extravagant and generous with money — but he never forgot the time he lost it all.

He was born on the isle of Zanzibar in 1946 and his early childhood was spent in luxury at his parents' mansion in Bombay, India, during the last days of the Raj.

Freddie and his sister Kashmira were treated like royalty by their servants.

But the privileges vanished overnight for Freddie at the age of 14 when his father, Bomi Bulsara, a British government accountant, was transferred to England.

The family were forced to move into a semi-detached house in Feltham, Middlesex.

Freddie vowed that one day he would have it all again.

He was an outsider from the beginning, the butt of cruel jibes because ofhis colonial accent and Persian origins.

He left school with three O Levels in history, art and geography, and an A Level in art.

Smile

Defying his parents, he went to Ealing College Of Art in West London, which spawned rock greats such as The Who's Pete Townshend and Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood.

It was there Freddie met two students who were to change his life — guitarist Bryan May and drummer Roger Taylor.

Freddie was singing with two blues bands, Sour Milk Sea and Wreckage, but left them to join May and Taylor's outfit, Smile.

In 1969 he graduated with diploma in graphic art and design and set up an art and fashion stall with Taylor in London's Kensington Market.

It gave them the excuse they needed to dress in the high-camp clothes they loved and for which Freddie later became famous.

When Smile broke up, Mercury formed a new band with May, Taylor and bassist called John Deacon.

Queen was born. Their first concert was at Hornsey town hall, North London, in February, 1971, in front of 300 people.

Queen first hit the charts with Seven Seas Of Rhye, which reached No 10, and the follow-up Killer Queen, which made No 2 in 1974.

Freddie's inspiration brought the group their chart-topper, the operatic Bohemian Rhapsody.

His experience in graphic design was behind the video which promoted the single and launched the pop video industry.

And it was Freddie who remained the driving force behind a band which amassed £100million fortune.

Freddie himself made more than £25million.

A stream of hits followed including Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Radio Ga Ga and I Want to Break Free.

But it was the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985 which turned Queen into a supergroup.

Even Elton John admitted later that Freddie had stolen the show with his exceptional ability to capture the crowd.

Legend

Freddie's reputation as one of rock's greatest showmen soared with the size and scale of the group's spectacular concerts in huge stadiums around the world.

Freddie became increasingly wild and flamboyant and his videos became more outrageous.

The fun didn't stop on or off-stage. Freddie was the anything-goes host of a never ending party.

Freddie boasted: "I'm simply dripping in money, darling. It's vulgar but wonderful. All I want from life is to make lots of money and spend it.”

A shadow fell over Freddie's life when his former manager Paul Prenter revealed that two of his ex-boyfriends had died from AIDS.

In 1989 Freddie had an AIDS test which proved negative but concern for his health grew.

Colleagues insisted he was "as fit a fiddle" but he looked gaunt and frail. His weight plummeted from 12st to under 9st.

Thrill

Towards the end, he was rarely spotted out in public.

To the public, the rare photographs of him outside his home made him look a sad, haunted figure, no longer able to enjoy the lifestyle he had craved.

Stars pay tribute as AIDS claims Freddie

SHOWBIZ stars were stunned last night after hearing that Queen star Freddie Mercury had died of AIDS.

He was the latest victim of the disease which has taken terrible toll of showbusiness and arts personalities.

Last night one showbiz insider said: "A lot of stars are gay, bi sexual or promiscuous. This is just the tip of a tragic iceberg."

Freddie, 45, had become a recluse in the past few years — losing weight and looking frail and shambling in his rare personal appearances.

Princess Diana — who has begun a crusade to help AIDS victims — was said to be "very upset" by the news:

A friend said: "The princess is a great fan of Queen. I am sure she will send a message of sympathy.”

Phil Collins said: "This is a tragedy. I had the greatest admiration and a lot of affection for him.

"But if you go around leading a pretty much promiscuous life as he did, then you always run the risk of AIDS.”

Freddie's former personal manager Paul Prenter lifted the lid on the singer's lifestyle in The Sun four years ago.

Prenter, who died from AIDS two months ago, claimed his one-time boss slept with hundreds of men, partly because he was terrified of sleeping alone.

Lovers

He lavished expensive gifts on his lovers — diamonds, Mercedes cars and money.

Prenter said: "It was more likely that I would see him walk on water than go with a woman.

"Freddie told me his first homosexual rela tionship happened while he was at boarding school in India when he was 14.

"While we were touring there would be different man each night.

"He would probably go to bed by 6am or 7am but rarely alone.

"He has a fear of sleeping alone, or even being alone for long stretches."

Prenter said Freddie phoned him after airline steward John Murphy, a one-night stand, died of AIDS in 1987 and admitted: "I am afraid I could develop AIDS."

Fortune

The manager claimed AIDS also killed another of Freddie's lovers — courier Tony Bastin.

Despite his hundreds of male lovers, Freddie is expected to leave his £25million fortune to a woman — his one-time girlfriend Mary Austin.

He once said: "The only real friend I've had is Mary. She will inherit the bulk of my fortune.

"Nobody else will get a penny — except my cats Oscar and Tiffany."

Freddie and Mary lived together for seven years until 1980, when the relationship broke up due to his increasing gay urges and the pressures of his farne.

But he kept in constant touch with her because she was the only person he really trusted.

He said: "I don't want anybody else. Over the years I have become bitter and I don't trust anybody else because they've let me down so many times.”

Freddie showered gifts on Mary — including a £600.000 house just round the corner from his own.

When she gave birth to a son in February 1990, he was the automatic choice as godfather.

Freddie said: "Our love affair ended in tears. My life is extremely volatile and someone like Mary couldn't cope with it.

"Success has brought me millions and world idolisation, but not the thing we all need — loving relationship."

NOT SCARED OF DYING

FREDDIE once revealed he was not afraid of dying — because he had "lived a full life."

The tragic singer once said: "If I'm dead tomorrow I don't care a damn. I really have done it all.”

Four years ago he predicted: “I don't expect to make old bones.

"What's more, I really don't care. I certainly don't have any aspirations to live to 70 — it would be boring."

Freddie cleaned up his love life after several pals died from AIDS. He said: "I was totally devastated when I heard about my friends who had died from AIDS.

fine morning tho’ hazy – F70° at 6 – off to Lidgate at 7 ½ - along the highroad and at Lidgate at 8 – Miss Walker ready to see me, and breakfast almost immediately – sat talking about an hour over the breakfast table then adjourned to the other, and were just going out about 12 ½ when Mrs Stansfield and Miss Delia Rawson called (from Gledholt near Huddersfield, 7 miles off) and staid an hour - Miss W- glad I had sat them out – dined with her at 2, and at 3 ¼ we were off for her to see my walk - Walked slowly by the new road and Lower brea, and sauntered to nearly to Hall-wood gate in my walk – then on returning rested in the hut and must have sat there a couple of hours - walked home with her at 5 50 in 40 minutes and back in ½ hour or less, at 2 or 3 minutes before 7 – found on my desk note from Mr. Parker with reference to the late turnpike road act respecting the power given to open quarries advised my getting some of the Southowram delves to value my stone – Jones of Huddersfield seldom gives more than from 7d. to 1/. a yard for stone - Dinner at 7 – my aunt with me – sat talking to her till she left me near 9 – then wrote the above of today Miss W- and I very cozy and confidential on parting she said she knew not when she had spent so pleasant a day I believe her she sat and sat in the moss house hardly liking to move of course I made myself agreeable and I think she already likes me even more than she herself is aware she seemed pleased at my reminding her of our walk ton [ten] years ago by hill-top etc when I had joked about her going abroad said it had always been my intention to make the offer more seriously as soon as I could that she must remember I had always been in the same strain that I had never joked anyone else in the same way and I hoped she would now understand that I was more serious than she supposed she said her uncle and aunt Atkinson had said I should get her abroad but that she had told them oh no it was all a joke ah said I then they understood me better than you did she had told me before that she was always told I was not to be depended on I successfully parried this and she believes me we talked of the Priestleys etc I dextrously giving her to understand that she would turn me quite I consulted with her in all frankness of confidence what I should do about the French maid etc talked to her about planting trees at Shibden etc said how much good change of climate would do her and I now really believe she will go with me! she seems to take all I say for gospel advised to fight shy of the Harveys when they come to Crownest not to enter into dinner visits with them and in fact she seems inclined to follow my advice implicitly she consults me about her affairs ssaid she was sure people never meant us to get together that Mrs Stansfield Rawson looked odd on finding me there and in short we congratulated ourselves that chance and Dr. Kenny (I always thank her for the kindness of telling me the plot to catch Marian) had made us better acquainted she said she would call on my aunt on Monday I to meet her between nine and ten I really did feel rather in love with her in the hut and as we returned I shall pay due court for the next few months and after all I really think I can make her happy and myself too well said I to myself as I left her she is more in for it than she thinks she likes me certainly we laughed at the idea of the talk our going abroad together would she said it would be as good as a marriage yes said I quite has good or better she falls into my views of things admirably I believe I shall succeed with her if I do I will really try to make her happy and I shall be thankful to heaven for the mercy of bringing me home having first saved me from Vere rid me of π- and set me at liberty we shall have money enough she will look up to me and soon feel attached and I after all my turmoils shall be steady and if God so wills it happy if Vere had rank and was more charming she would have always thought she did me a favour and π- has annoyed me too often I can gently mould Miss W- to my wishes and may we not be happy? how strange the fate of things! if after all my companion for life should be Miss Walker she was nine-and-twenty a little while ago! how little my aunt or anyone suspects what I am about! nor shall it be surmised till all is settled Had just written the above at near 10 – ¼ hour in the little room and came upstairs at 10 ¼ - Pickles and co. at the wearing – nobody working for me but Dick spreading and breaking ashes – very fine day – F70 ½ ° now at 11 20pm

Movie Review | Massacre in Dinosaur Valley (Tarantini, 1985)

I'm in a jungle adventure mood at the moment, which is the primary explanation for why I decided to rewatch Cannibal Ferox, a movie I hated the first time I watched it and still don't like it very much, although I did get a long winded review out of it. For that same reason, I decided to check this one out. This came out a few years later, when the genre had started going out of fashion, and you feel some of that waning energy. This is certainly violent, but the sheer mean spirit of the earlier movie is absent. When the characters get captured by the cannibals, most of the "torture" consists of the children touching the female captives' hair. (The kids genuinely seem to be having fun. It's kind a cute scene.) They also get changed into the garb of the villagers, and who am I to say no to loincloth babes in my jungle adventure movie, especially when one of them looks like Elizabeth Kaitan? And aside from one quickly cut scene with a snake that may or may not have been simulated, there isn't any emphasis on animal cruelty. Even the amount of people eating doesn't seem that great.

This also has elements of a disaster movie, another genre past its prime. The first act has the characters getting stranded in the jungle after a plane crash and figuring out how to survive and make their way back to civilization. For example, this one guy gets his legs bitten by piranhas and the de facto leader of the group, some Vietnam vet guy who's seen some shit and is also implied for some reason to be impotent, solves the problem by immediately stabbing him with a machete. Good thing the guy's not a doctor. It even sets up all the characters in disaster movie fashion, trotting them out one by one in amusingly hammy scenes. The hero is introduced having just bummed a ride. The heroine checks into a hotel with her father, but not before the clerk makes a sleazy insinuation to the old man.

This also feels in part like an entry in a genre that was more current, that being the boner comedy. It's not unexpected for an exploitation movie to have a good amount of nudity, which this certainly delivers on. But there is a weirdly pervy streak present. The hero first meets the heroine by spying on her in the shower. There's a scuffle in a bar when a creepy guy (who looks like Rowan Atkinson in brownface) gropes a female patron. Later, when they're in the jungle, we get loving closeups of the breasts of two of the women in the group when their shirts get wet. I suppose location matters only so much in a wet t-shirt contest, but this also seems to set up something about the Vietnam vet guy that it never pays off. But yeah, I assume if there's a Revenge of the Nerds sequel where they get lost in the jungle, it would play like this. Ultimo Mondo Poindextrino. I'm guessing the boys wouldn't make it five minutes. Okay, maybe Booger, he's already kinda gross, probably wouldn't be too put off by the climate.

Anyway, the most fun part of this is that each third plays like a different genre, with the disaster movie first act, cannibal movie second act, and action adventure third act where the protagonists are captured by an evil mining operation that uses slave labour and is run by an evil Kenny Rogers. A lot of what goes down is pretty shit, to be honest, but things happen at a good enough pace, and there's a lot of gore and nudity, and loincloth babes, one of whom looks like Elizabeth Kaitan. And I laughed at the joke at the very end, when the hero defends his skill as a pilot.

"It's a Brazilian helicopter." "What's that mean?" "It's got built in rhythm."

And the movie benefits from the voodoo of location, setting things in the middle of the rainforest. Lots of scenes of the characters being sweaty, getting bitten by bugs, eating bugs, getting bitten by other animals, etc. The humidity practically emanates from the screen. To paraphrase a wise man (Robin Williams doing a voice in Good Morning, Vietnam), the movie is suitably hot and wet, which is nice when you're with a lady but not so much when you're in the jungle. For them anyway. For me I'm having a good enough time either way.
