Although it has been slow and hard to gain the LGBT community keeps adding and fighting for successes in their agenda, to gain equality and being accepted without criticism and achieve the happiness we all want. Although they have had laws passed to their favor as an example the acceptance of same sex marriage. There are many other issues that the LGBT community still have to face and fight for. One of the many issues in this country is the fight for an immigration reform and maybe you will ask what does this has to do with LGBT people?... Well as an article on buzzfeed states "2.7% of our nation’s undocumented immigrants identify as LGBT". Reflecting on this with the experience my parents have for being immigrants and part of my own experience I could relate to the importance of getting an immigration reform and understand why is important for the LGBT community as to include security and safety for trans people. I know that immigrants sometimes have it hard when getting a job, adapting to a new language and way of life when coming to this country, not being able to enjoy certain privileges that people that were born here have and having to deal with harassment, and violence to name some, when we connect the dots, we get to the conclusion that trans people have it a little harder than heterosexuals they have higher chance of being discriminated, when being in detention with immigration they face inhumane and dangerous conditions. Being unable to find a job due to their immigration status and on top they have to face discrimination due to their preference of sex. There are many issues that transgender people have to face everyday and it's important to count that there still laws and policies that need to be made in order to protect this people and to be treated equally.

The North Carolina case about the forcing of transgender residents to use the bathrooms corresponding to their sex at birth has brought a lot of controversy not only in the state of it’s own but also outside the state. On May 16th president Obama said that new federal rules on school bathrooms are designed to protect transgender students. This new policy comes from the president concern of children being bully, as he said “our obligation as a society is to make sure everyone is treated fairly, kids are all loved and protected , and that their dignity is affirmed”. As this becomes good news for transsexuals and might seem that LGBT visibility is progressing in our country for equality, fairness, and for the better, there are people like “Coach” Dave Daubenmire, an Ohio-based Religious Right activist that will oppose to the positive progression in our country when it comes to LGBT visibility. On May 26 Dubenmire expressed his opposition to Obama’s new policy on a radio show “talkback with Chuck Wilder.” When I was listening to his argument there were things that really impacted me. My reaction to his argument was not good. On his talk he express his view of Obama as the devil’s son and as the most unchristian president of all times. When I tried to analyzed where his argument can come from I believe that it comes from the rules and policies that are set in the religious views. He based his argument in the bible which can make his argument valid but then again if we are all loved equally in God’s eyes, why is that Daubenmire is trying to make it seem as that some are all equally loved by God but when they are the opposite of what we know or what we are not truly open about are things that have to do with the devil and God doesn't look at you with good eyes? We can see how the church can be one of the opposers when it comes to the progression of equality for all. The church I believe is one of the main composers for the pushback of progression because people take their own values and personal beliefs into count and some of the things we have set for our society to be good or bad come from the religious views, which I believe are really influential.

Looking back to when I was growing up I remember looking at cartoons and animated movies that I agree with the thought behind the mission with the industry for the entertainment of children, that is because most of the things one learns comes other than our family like our parents, also come from the people around us and things like our media. The Walt Disney company in particular is the second of the biggest multinational mass media and entertainment company that focuses on realizing cartoons and movies between other things that give it a big popularity. Knowing that we can imagine what a big influence does it have in children at a young age. Three years ago to be exact on November 27, 2013 Disney released the movie Frozen, giving children specially young girls a new figure to look up to. On social Media last month the hostage #GiveElsaAGrilfriend gained a lot of traction but now has been challenged by online petitions demanding Disney to depict Elsa as straight. When we look into debt to how movies have represented their characters we can see that most of their movies are evolving to make everyone seem equal. As an example 9 years ago princess were white skin when now on 2009 the first color princess came out. People took it in a good way which made the movie very successful. Now the princess is according to LGBT people she seems to be mirrored as a lesbian, given that she is not the typical princess to find a prince and live a happy ever after. Instead she is picture to be left alone and fighting with controlling her powers that society won't accept because she is different and that might relate with the struggles lesbian people have when they decide to “come out of the closet”. This of course has been a real issue in social media. Coming across this article on NbcNews, we can see that the visibility of LGBT is progressing. In a very slow way but yet is not on the same place that was before. Since new generations are being more open minded to the changes happening in or society. Personally I believe that children should be teach that love is not only between a man and a woman. There also exist love between a man and man even if we don't agree with it, due to our beliefs, it's not rational to ignore what reality is. I feel that we are stick to the rules society has set for us in order to seem “normal” but forgot that sometimes normal is not perfect which means that there are other ideas out of a box, and because we are not all the same we will challenge rules in order to become the person we wished. I believe that children learn at a young age which means that teaching that people are different then we won't have trouble accepting that there is a LGBT society out there and it doesn't hurt to know about it.

In a world of debate between right and wrong there is always people taking stands between what they believe it's the right thing. When it comes to this famous people are the ones to first take a stand. When it comes to LGBT rights a lot of people and companies that are willing to help the LGBT community obtain what they believe is fair. As one of the companies we have GLAAD(http://www.glaad.org) which their mission as they say “GLAAD rewrites the script for LGBT acceptance. As a dynamic media force, GLAAD tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. GLAAD protects all that has been accomplished and creates a world where everyone can live the life they love”. One of the people along with them that give support is Demi Lovato. An American singer, songwriter, actress, and model that is fearless ally for LGBT equality and acceptance. On Sunday May 22nd during the 24th Annual Billboard Music Awards, Demi wore a T-shirt featuring an inclusive bathroom symbol representing her direct hit against the North Caroline anti-queer legislation signed on March 23rd. I believe that her act was brave due to breaking one of the rules of society which is that restrooms are set for men and women and that there is not an option of “in between”, “opposite” or even “intersex”. This gives a critical visibility for vulnerable North Carolinians in specific and sends a message of support to transgender people everywhere. This I believe has an effective and a big impact in society due to the fact that she is very recognizable which makes the stand more noticeable for people to pay attention to and give transgender people a hope that not everyone is against them.
