not to get ahead of myself but thinking abt future opla zolu made me a little emotional bc depending on how many seasons the show manages to get, there's high chances of seeing so many of luffy and zoro's moments. and the thing is - there's a lot of them? their relationship is built upon all these moments and interactions, some small, some big, some when they're not even together but still end up referencing or mirroring one another in some way. it's just so good. I can remember more than few off the top of my head in alabasta, jaya, skypiea, water 7/enies lobby, thriller bark, sabaody etc and that's just pre-timeskip. opla has so much potential to go absolutely bonkers with these two I'm unwell

#spoilers + meta for my own fic (a monster might begin to worry) in the tags below bc i just reread it and cried but #if magnus was less depressed and more assured of his own worthiness of being stood up for and protected #then ammbtw would have almost immediately turned into this #instead it doesn't really become this until the final chapter - where magnus finally believes that protecting him was the right thing #before that - when he did have the capacity to “solve” the case; and obviously even *did* solve it with some help - #he was so torn up over motive. over *why* someone would've intervened. and because mags thought so poorly of himself - #he wasn't convinced that killing kalen *was* a heroic act. because sure; magnus felt that kalen deserved it #but he also felt that *he* was getting off easy. that he wasn't having to atone for *his* perceived failures #in that last chapter though. in that last chapter. just when he's lost the ability to remember or comprehend the answer #which is the *same* time he finally claws his way up into good enough mental health to believe that he deserves nice things #*that's* when he finally wants to do my little shitpost above. to give the murderer a truly heartfelt thank you #and the irony is that the killer is right under his nose... and magnus doesn't know; and can never ever know #but instead of being a dark ending a la “the murderer committed the perfect crime and got away; where will they strike next?” #it's a “magnus is safe and loved and supported” ending :) even if he still doesn't know the lengths his family's gone to for him #because he's getting to a place where he can be happy without knowing all the answers :) #a monster might begin to worry

genuinely shocked at the amount of people that think character death = good story. In most circumstances, character deaths seem like an easy way out for shock value rather than meaningful development (Signora for example). Some of the best character arcs are those where the writers had to figure out how to develop the character in the arc of the story rather than just killing them and moving on

#genshin impact #genshin impact spoilers #xiao #la signora #criticism #hyv has done good jobs when a character had to die and it was a satisfying end to their arcs (himeko or otto more recently) #and they flubbed it before with signora #the whole point of the quest was for xiao to shake this mindset of a warrior's death and that he has to be alone and die alone #that is exactly why yelan was there to challenge that point since she hates the idea of self sacrifice and being the only one to survive #both suffered survivor's guilt and had two completely different ways they went about coping #and the end of that quest was genuinely one of the only times xiao did not degrade himself as a slaughterer #and he was proud to be a yaksha #because his duty was to protect the people #so why set all that up for him to die #it would have been sadder but after a while you'd think 'that made no sense' #ffs he didn't want to die either he tried to bring a rock to make bosacius' shrine #idk i guess getting older just made me see how much harder it is for writers to write development than killing the character off #and another series did initially kill their character off and it was not satisfying #so when they redux their game and had that character finish their arc what do you know they had one of the best character arcs

Studio Trigger anime tend to have a weird racism plot in their anime, the biggest example of this plot is what they did with BNA/Brand New Animal; in which the Animal People had to live in their separate city to avoid bigotry and SPOILER ALERT: the Big Bad of the anime was secretly one of the minority group the entire time(he was also blond and blue eyed so uh yikes!)~~~

#I think Kill La Kill had inklings of this and Promare supposedly but I never watch that one #but BNA put that on full display which is a shame bc it was pretty fun anime outside of the Garbo plot #and so with Dungeon Meshi being a preexisting story. I mean, yeah, the Megas also have their takes on Skullman's theme ("Cracked Skulls"; inspired by MM4) and Chill Penguin's theme ("Chill XMas"; inspired by MMX), and I guess there's also one based on Storm Eagle's theme ("Rougmer Storm"; MMX), but I haven't listened to that one yet.

Like, I get that they have a good story arc to cover the first 3 classic games, but it would be so cool if they explored some of the themes of the following games, y'know? Or flesh out the MMX or other series music! Or hell, pick and choose some Robot Masters and make a new narrative, or like literally anything, please, people are starving over here! And it's not like they aren't still active. Don't get me wrong, I love their Castlevania stuff under the Belmonts label, but it would be nice to get Mega Man content outside of just remixes/remasters of their existing songs. Plus, they're still doing concerts, so like the audience is there for it!

And as for the Protomen, I hope that they actually end up releasing Act III at some point. Having listened to The Fight, it makes me crave it to an unhealthy degree. I love the grimdark kinda take on Mega Man that focuses more on the role that humanity takes in all of the conflict. I feel like that angle gets extremely neglected in Mega Man media.

Idk, as a fan, it's just kinda frustrating how neglected mega man gets. Like, it feels like the rare times whenever we do get content, it focuses on the first three or four games (if we're lucky), and then it just dies off! Or goes dormant for a decade or more. The franchise has so much creative potential that just isn't realized and it's so sad!
