Part 3 of 3: Last but not least, a view from the road; and the best kind of road, one with nobody on it and pretty mountains in the distance. The E-type’s vast hood/bonnet is hinged from the front and held down by two latches on either side mounted just ahead of the doors on the inside - it tends to shake a little when you hit bumps, but you get used to it. - Much of Sunday’s driving was on roads even less populated than this, just a few old cars taking in the scenery on smooth, wooded roads. This area is only 25 miles from Downton Seattle, but being separated by a ferry ride or at two-hour drive around the sound, it’s remote without being too far. Even better roads await further out. Another 5 miles to the west lies #HoodCanal, with stunning views winding two-lanes for miles. But alas, there wasn’t time for that on this drive. - “So what is ‘Driveshare,’” you ask? Some will already know about it, but it’s a peer-to-peer rental platform for sharing #classiccars – it works a lot like AirB&B. You reserve a car (you have to be over 30, have a good driving record, and leave a security deposit), you coordinate with the owner, and then you can use the car for however long the rental is with insurance backed by Hagerty. Driveshare isn’t the only such service, either. - The cost ranges from cheap to steep, but you can experience a fair range of vehicles this way.
