Why you should really watch „My Holo Love“
1. It is romantic and has great actors
The Female Protagonist Han So-yeon (Ko Sung-hee) sweet and vulnerable, but has inner strength and an innert friendliness. She is often shy and reticent but not a doormat. I also love her style.
Ko Nan-Do (Yoon Hyun-min) is a moody guy, but he has reasons for that I won’t spoiler. My heart sometimes actually broke for him while watching this drama, and I am usually not one for crying. Yoon Hyun-min is, on the shallow side, also extremely hot and I am lowkey obsessed about him. Not as bad as with the great Hyun Bin, but he is a great runner up. I bought a pair of black converse after watching this. He also plays Holo, in a double roll. Holo is…just a perfect cinnamon roll.
The supportive cast: Nan-dos sister yoo-jin is so funny, trying to explain him how love works. Also, his chief-programmer, very funny. The Antagonist-turned-… (don‘t want to spoiler) is also good, but his far too tight suits distracted me from his personality. Apparently he is a Korean idol and rapper. Rappers in Korea seem to look different from the US, which is not a bad thing IMO.
2. The story
It is very good, an entertaining mix of romance, comedy, sci-fi, crime story and drama. It has all the tropes I came to like in Korean Drama, so I am happy. They eat nice food, not only fried chicken, which bugged me in the SK-part of Crash landing on you. Some plotholes are there, but overall I have to say: great palate cleanser after cloy, which was very difficult to let go. I am not really interested in computer or IA stuff, but wanted to watch bc I saw video of Yoon Hyun Min singing. Wow, He is an exceptional singer and should be RJH in the cloy-musical with these pipes. Hyun Bin is also a great singer, but not a tenor, and most leads are tenors in musicals. Well…I love a moody hero.
3. The chemistry/OST
Off the charts, these two, even more so in the lovely Swoon BTS-Videos. They are totally different there, Sung-hee is funny and playful, very sharp and with perfect English. YHM is laughing and teasing her all the time and such a nice guy, super easy going. They are lowkey flirting, but as he has a GF, there is no Binjin-Situation. The soundtrack is great, too.
Thanks @swallowfromthesouth for recommending it! It is very underrated, just watch and enjoy it.

I’m gonna be honest right from the start and say that I probably only understood like 85% of what was going in this drama. All the legal talk lost me at times and I just went with it. Had I understood more, it probably would have been a much better drama for me, as pretty much every drama-based situation was rooted in something deep within law territory that I just couldn’t follow 😂
That aside though, it was still a very interesting and captivating drama to watch. It’s not too obvious that it has been adapted from a US show (that I have admittedly not watched), and I think it still manages to have the classic drama traits. A very nice blend between two worlds.
The actors are phenomenal and all manage to deliver their (to me) complicated lines so convincingly you’d actually think they had studied law their entire life. I was very impressed. Though I didn’t always understand 100%, I knew when something was right or wrong and was very invested in watching the good guys win. Which brings me to another thing the drama did really well - it plays a little with the terms of ‘good vs bad’ - because when lawyers are hired to defend their clients, they have to try and win no matter what that client did. It was really interesting to watch the main character struggle with this throughout the drama.
In my opinion, there were some really amazing characters that felt like they really achieved something throughout this drama, who grew as people. And then there were some that maybe fell a little flat. It didn’t really take too much away from the drama tbh, but I wished they would have maybe fleshed them out a bit more. But maybe that’s just me 😁
All in all... it’s not on the list of best dramas I have ever watched, but as most dramas probably are, it was still very entertaining to watch. There was, after all, a reason I kept coming back for more 😂 - If you’re into law though, this is definitely something for you!

- In terms of visuality, I’ve ranked Goblin second because it was really good. In terms of computer graphic effects, even the camera position and lightnings to evoke emotions to the audience were great.
Trivia:
One of the most remarkable scenes to me even to the audience in the Korean drama Goblin is the sword that was stubbed into Kim Shin(Gong Yoo)’s chest, but did you know how that it was made? According to what I have searched online, “the show’s crew said in Saturday’s episode.
To create the illusion of being impaled, Gong was required to wear a suit, crafted by the art team and pasted with pieces of the sword. Computer graphic effects were added later to shroud the sword in green smoke.” – Rumy Doo , https://www.thejakartapost.com
