every fandom has their version of the mclennon ship: the one where two cishet guy best friends are being shipped and the fan base of 95% women cannot help but forcibly feminize one and mandatorily masculinize the other. every fan base has this. its okay a matter of time before you catch on

i’m making a new au
idk if anyone has actually seen Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, but it aired on Disney XD in the early/mid 2010s and was one of my all time favorite cartoons.
If you’ve never heard of it, there’s a synopsis linked here
if you wanna watch it for yourself, here’s the first episode (this link definitely doesn’t also lead to a trusted website where you can watch the entire show for free along with a ton of other cartoons, movies, and anime’s and definitely isn’t how i watch South Park without having Paramount + 👀)
if you don’t feel like either of those here’s a link to an out of context video that i think will be easy to understand without having watched the show and that shows character dynamics well.
anyway here’s the characters:
Tumblr media
i’m gonna add a cut here so if you don’t feel like reading/watching something to get a feel for these characters, i’ll explain them (also it’s kind of an excuse for me to rant about how this show takes traits from common media and twists them perfectly to still have identifiable character types while having the characters be unique and mix well together in the show)
Kyle will obviously be Penn Zero himself, part-time hero, who’s the main character. I mean, come on, even the main guy has curly read hair! It fits too well. Penn also has some established anger issues, and sometimes has a hard time putting his personal emotions and morals aside for the sake of a mission. He’s snappy, witty, and good hearted but sometimes he can lose sight of the right thing when he gets in his own head.
Stan and Wendy will be Boon and Sashi, Penn’s best friends.
Stan is Boon, part-time wiseman. He’s a stereotypical dumb best friend, but he’s pretty philosophically mature when he needs to be. This is actually the only show I can think of where the “dumb best friend” trope isn’t annoying as shit, cause normally I hate characters like this. But here, Boon never feels like a burden to the episode and him being a little slower never makes him less capable than his friends. No one ever complains about him being too stupid and his best friends never belittle/infantilize him for not being as smart. He’s a great moral booster for the team and it’s clear how much his friends enjoy his company care for him despite him being kinda dumb. I don’t understand how no show since this one has been able to get this trope right.
Wendy is Sashi, part-time sidekick. She’s a total badass, having more fighting and strategic skills than the boys. She’s also the one to keep the mission on target and is willing to do whatever it takes to win the day. However, she’s never the stereotypical “i’m the responsible one so i hate fun” or “i’m a girl who can fight so therefore that’s my only character trait.” Shes aloof, isn’t the best at social ques, highly competitive, and shows her love for her friends by being fiercely loyal and protective of them. Even though she can get annoyed and tired of the random antics her friends cause, she never talks down to them. She also takes her role of sidekick very seriously and even though she’s a much more skilled fighter than Penn, she listens to his instructions and never undermines what he says unless what he tells her to do will lead to them failing. She’s a fiery spirit and can and will kick your ass if she sees fit.
Cartman and Butters are Rippen and Larry, the Stendyle trio’s part time villains.
Cartman is Rippen, part-time villain. Rippen is a very stereotypically evil guy. He doesn’t really have a motive, he just wants to win. Does he ever? No. Is it his fault that he loses most of the time? Also no. He’s a genuinely good villain but it’s often the people he works with or some Deus Ex Machina for the heroes that keeps him from getting to victory. Despite being a good villain, hes also pretty aloof. He’s a hilarious character simply because of how annoyed he is with everything all the time (especially his henchman Larry/Butters). Despite this, he does genuinely care for some things, like his stuffed animals and his co-villain (though he’s hard pressed to admit it). In the show Rippen is an art teacher who hates everything, but in this au Cartman is just gonna be another student who loves to mess with Kyle.
Butters is Larry, part-time minion. He works under Cartman and honestly sucks balls at being a villain. He’s silly, doesn’t really know how to take a situation seriously, gullible, easily distracted, and very kindhearted. However, he is incredibly loyal to Cartman and will do whatever he says without hesistation, he’ll just usually do it wrong or twist it so it’s a nice thing to do. Most of the time Butters is just there to stand by Cartman and do his own thing. It’s also a running gag in the show that Larry will just ramble on and on about literally anything and it drives characters actually insane, and Rippen will sometimes use that as a weapon, which is a very Cartman thing to do. In the show Larry is principle of the school Stendyle attends, but like with Cartman, i’m just gonna make Butters another student. However, in the show, Larry is also rich as fuck, which is really funny so i’m keeping that. Like, it’s rarely brought up, but there are some episodes that take place in his mansion and it’s great. (“Cartman, you know what i’d do if i had a million dollars?” “Butters, you do have a million dolla-“ “I’d buy everyone in the world a portrait! I did that once in my neighborhood. my neighbor said ‘you shouldn’t have!’ and I said ‘no worries Mark it’s my pleasure happy birthday!’ and he said ‘it’s not my birthday and my name’s Tyler’…” <- actual character interaction from the show almost word for word, tell me that doesn’t sound Cartman and Butters coded)

Attraction Confessions...
😍😍😍
-  Anonymous
“GAH! Why are you people so n-nosy?!”
(It’s long so click Keep reading to see it all! This one contains Jimmy, Stan, and Gregory.)
“Fine! I’ll start with the easy... -easier ones to talk about. Nnngh, n-none of this better get out to anyone I talk about... I don’t trust any of you." Spoiler alert, assholes: none of this was easy to admit! Twitchy hands flitted along the hem of his shirt, topics like these required him to fidget if he didn’t want to stutter and choke on his words.
“Uhm... first would be... Gregory. I’ve not talked to him much, but he’s just... really cool, you know? Like this commanding confidence, takes no bull shit and would kick someone’s ass for you. He reminds me of those aesthetic pinterest boards, if they were a person. He seems like he has his shit together, he does what he wants and will get the job done. He’s someone I’m interested to know more about, i-in any case.“
“I think we both like theater and musicals too, so that’s a big bonus. It’d be fun to sing with him, maybe...” His expression turned wistful before shrugging the idea away. “Ugh, don’t tell anyone I said this, but his accent is really cute, too.”
“Jimmy. He’s part of my close friend group and... I don’t know, he just...” His gaze veered to the left, brain going through the Rolodex of memories shared with his friends, ones namely with Jimmy. It pulled a small smile onto his face, gaze softening. He exhaled in playful disbelief. “Jimmy is one of the funniest guys I know! I’m not saying that the other guys aren’t funny b-but... it just comes naturally to him. He’s really good at picking me back up after a bad day. He’s very passionate about what he likes and I really admire that.”
“Though, I could do without all the coffee-related puns.” A roll of his eyes and a huff, but he’s still smiling.
“The last one for this particular question would be Stan. D-DON’T TELL KYLE! Stan is just... he takes really good care of Kyle and clearly cares about him a lot, it’d make anyone want to be in his shoes. He’s soft and sensitive, seems like the kind of guy who would remember the dates for stupid stuff that’s important to him.” His face lit up with embarrassment, hand desperately wiped at his face, like that would remove the pink from his cheeks.
“Not, not-- not that I’ve thought about those things! It’s just what I feel. I know Stan has a bit of a problem with his emotions and stuff but...” A shrug and a nondescript hand wave. “Sometimes it’s nice to know you can be... broken with someone. To have someone you can help build back up and know they’d do the same for you.”

Let Me Love You - a Valentine’s Bunny fic (for hypochondriac-butters)
Kenny scribbled furiously on his piece of bright pink construction paper. He didn't usually put massive amounts of energy into things, it just wasn't his style, but for this, he felt it was worth it. Crayons were scattered across the table of the art room, most of them half-melted and broken from the heat of Kenny's hand or the pressure he had used on them. With a few final flourishes of his hand, he dropped the blue crayon he had been holding, staring down at his masterpiece.
It looked innocent on the outside, only one word written across it in slightly scraggled cursive. Little, colored lines formed swirling patterns, creating a pleasant looking design. However, it was the inside that Kenny was most concerned with. It's reception, at least.
He licked his lips nervously under the hood of his parka, looking around the class. His friends, Stan and Kyle, were sitting together making people chains together, each person linked by the hands with tiny hearts. He would have laughed and called them gay if not for the paper in his hands. His eyes scanned over the rest of the students, taking in each person before alighting on the object of his deepest affections.
Letting out a sigh, he slumped over the table, watching the other paint at an easel. How in the world was he ever going to do this? It's not like he could just walk up and say, "Hey, dude, you're hot and I'm hot, and we're both single. Interesting, right?" No, no. This boy was too good for that. It needed to be special…
A heavy hand dropping onto his shoulder almost made him crush the delicate card in his hands, and Kenny's head snapped around as he leveled a glare at the owner: Eric Cartman.
"Aw, come on, Kinny, don't look at me like that," the chubby boy whined. "I'm here to help you."
"I don't want your help," Kenny growled, but was ignored as Cartman pulled his chair closer.
"I've been watching you as you creep stare at our dear friend," he continued. "I just wanted to say that since I'm so great at helping people get together, how about letting me help you, too?"
"Fuck you, you giant assed-"
"GREAT!" Cartman slapped his back, knocking the poor boy forward and the air out of his lungs. "I was going to try and match up someone else, but I'll move you to the top of my list since we're friends."
Kenny opened his mouth to retort, but stopped when Cartman addressed the air beside him, calling it "Cupid Me". The fuck? Deciding that Cartman was crazy, Kenny got up and slipped away, heading towards the easels. He stopped short, not wanting to get too close. He didn't want to be spotted, seeing as his open staring was pretty weird already.
The boy in question started to turn around, and in a panic, Kenny threw himself to the side, landing heavily on Stan and knocking him into Kyle. The trio collapsed to the floor in a tangle of limbs and pained cries. Of course, this drew the attention of the entire class, and Kenny grabbed the strings of his parka, yanking them to close his hood, hiding his reddening face.
The other students began to laugh, and it took Kenny a full minute to realize it wasn't directed at him. Glancing back, his eyes widened as he saw what was causing the laughter. Stan and Kyle had landed in such a way that resulted in them kissing, and the two were so shocked by this, they hadn't moved away from one another.
Using this as the perfect distraction, Kenny ran out the door into the hallway, snatching the hall-pass from the teacher's desk as he rushed by. Once he was free, he made his way down the hall to his locker. Turning the dial, he popped the metal door open and stashed away his carefully constructed gift. He couldn't risk taking it home, it could get lost or crumpled, and he couldn't keep it on him for the same reasons. No, it would be safest in his locker.
Tomorrow was Valentine's Day, and for all Kenny's perversions, he was a bit of a hopeless romantic.
----------
After narrowly avoiding getting locked in the gym with the object of his affection, Kenny made his way home with his little sister, Karen. The small girl was bouncing as she walked, telling Kenny about her day. He listened closely, a slight smile on his face. Kenny loved listening to her, hearing the excitement and happiness in her voice.
"-then Tricia, you know my best friend? Anyway, then she told our teacher that she didn't care about adding numbers and stuff, and she flipped her off! It was so funny, Kenny, the teacher was so mad!" Karen giggled at the memory, jumping over cracks in the sidewalk. "She's so cool and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her. I wish I was more like her…"
Hearing the sadness entering her tone, Kenny stopped, taking her hand and pulling her into a hug. "Well, I think you're perfect as is," he said. "Don't worry about being like other people. Just be the very best you you can be."
This got a giggle in response, and Karen nodded, hugging him back.
Once home, the little girl went off to her room to play, and Kenny left after checking to see that Kevin was around to watch her. They nodded slightly at each other, then Kenny dropped his backpack in his room and left to hang out with his friends. Arriving at the Marsh residence, he found Stan and Kyle sitting in the front yard, holding hands shyly.
He grinned under his hood, walking up to the pair. "So everything worked out I see," he teased, taking a seat just off to the side so he could look them both in the face. "First kiss wasn't to bad, was it?"
"Oh, shut it, Kenny," Kyle huffed, his face almost as red as his hair. "It's your fault, anyway."
"You're welcome~."
Rolling his eyes, Stan asked, "Do you know what's up Cartman's ass? He was super pissy on the bus home today, and kept saying something about ungrateful bastards. Butters was trying to cheer him up, but it didn't seem to be helping."
Kenny shrugged, flopping back into the snow to hid his sudden blush. "I don't know, did we ever get that alien prob out? Maybe it's malfunctioning and zapping him so he's cranky."
"Oh, man, I can't believe I forgot about that!"
After this, the topic of Cartman was dropped, and the boys went inside to play video games. When the sun had set and Sharon Marsh had fed the three, Kenny returned home with all the leftovers he could carry. As always, he went to his siblings' bedroom first, letting Karen and Kevin eat as much as they wanted before taking the rest to the fridge for his parents.
He went to his room and got into bed. He wasn't particularly tired, but he needed to get as much sleep as possible. It was going to be an emotional day, whether for the good or bad. He had to be ready.
----------
Waking the next morning, Kenny jumped in the shower before anyone else was up. He ate a cold waffle, then scrubbed his teeth for a good ten minutes. He didn't think he was going to get lucky enough for a kiss, but he didn't want to be unprepared if something like what happened to Stan and Kyle happened to him. It paid to be ready for anything.
Dressing quickly, he grabbed his backpack and left, heading to the bus stop a good half hour before he needed to be there. He just couldn't handle waiting around the house. Too many things could go wrong there, better to just go to a relatively safe spot.
He spent the time pacing, and when his friends arrived, the grass was poking through the snow where Kenny had worn it down. Cartman was in a better mood than the day before, and continuously shot knowing looks at Kenny between teasing Kyle and Stan. Every movement from the two, even a simple adjustment to warm their legs, would get him to scream, "OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS ARE SO FUCKIN' GAY!"
Kyle lasted ten minutes, longer than Kenny had anticipated (perhaps Stan's calming presence was already helping him), before he jumped on the other and they rolled around, fists flying and legs kicking. It was no small effort for Stan and Kenny to pull them apart, and they managed it just as the bus pulled up.
Tucking his hair back into his hat, Kyle boarded first, stomping to the back and throwing himself down, Stan settling beside him and whipping the dirt and snow from Kyle's jacket as best he could.
Chuckling to himself, Kenny followed, sliding into the last empty seat. The ride to the school was blissfully short, and Kenny rocketed out of the vehicle and to his locker, beating the flood of students that poured in shortly after.
Ripping his locker open, he gingerly removed the card he had so carefully crafted the day before. When it was in his hands, Kenny felt like he was on overdrive, aware of every single tiny detail all around him. He had to keep his gift safe until he could get it to it's target.
Challenging his inner ninja, he let the other students move him as though he were a leaf in a stream. Or, more accurately, a dry, dead leaf caught in a rapid. He was shunted from one side of the hall to the other, bumping and crashing into things left and right. For a brief moment, he wondered how disappointed Token would be in him for dishonoring the ninjas so terribly, but he quickly refocused.
Reaching the classroom, he forced his way through the crowd and popped into the room. He looked around, taking in all the people milling about and talking before the day began. Spotting his goal, he took a steady breath, straightened his parka, and walked over.
Butters was sitting at his desk, humming brightly as he organized a small stack of valentines, the kind bought at dollar stores. They were Hello Kitty brand, and Kenny could see the edges of fake tattoos poking out from each.
"Hey, Butters," he said, taking the desk beside him.
"Oh, heya, Ken!" the blonde greeted, sending him a smile that almost sent the death-prone boy straight into heaven. "How ya doing today? Do you have any plans with a special lady later?"
Oh, boy.
"Ah, no. I, um, I wanted to give you something." He held out the somehow still pristine card, offering it to him. "You don't have to read it now if you don't want too." In his mind, he silently begged the other not to read it until he was struck down, then he could forget and Kenny could get over him. But the universe just loved to fuck with him, so instead of him dropping dead, Butters put aside his cards and took the pink paper, flipping it open immediately.
Kenny's body tensed, his eyes focused on Butters' expression. The pink was brighter than Kenny remembered, and he wished he had used a less… noticeable color. As he watched, Butters' eyes grew wider and wider until he was sure they would fall out. A small twinge of guilt flared in his stomach when he saw the almost invisible scar line that went down the boy's left eye, but he didn't have time to think about it as Butters turned to face him. He was gripping the paper tightly, as if worried someone would take it from him.
"Ken, d-do you really mean all this?" he asked, his voice soft.
Silently, Kenny nodded, not trusting his voice. This was it, the moment of truth.
Butters looked between the card and Kenny, then a smile began to grow on his face, getting wider and wider until it looked almost painful. He bounced in his seat and laughed, then jumped up.
"Aw, Ken, you're so mushy!" He looked down at the carefully planned love confession, practically glowing with pure sunshine happiness. "I didn't know you were so poetic, neither!"
"Well, what can I say? You bring out my creative side, B-" The blonde's hand pressed into the fabric over Kenny's mouth, shutting him up. He looked at the other in surprise, wondering what he was doing.
"Nuh uh," Butters scolded lightly. "If you really wanna date me, Ken, you have to call me Leo, okay? But ONLY you get to call me that."
Kenny blushed, but smiled, grabbing his hand. "Anything for you."
"Anything?" Butters tugged on one of the parka strings. "Then could ya pull your hood down for a moment?"
Without hesitation, Kenny used his free hand to pull back his hood, shaking out his hair. As he had done this exactly zero times in school before, it immediately caught the attention of all the others, though the pair didn't notice, too busy in their own little world.
"What did you want me to do that for, Leo?"
The softest thing Kenny had ever felt brushed his lips lightly, and his entire being felt like it had caught fire. It wasn't painful like real fire, however, just warm and… dare he say, nice?
It took half a second too long to process that Butters, BUTTERS, had been the brave one and kissed him first. Holy shit. He hadn't thought it was possible to be more in love, but BOY had he been wrong.
"Oh, gee, I-I hope I didn't upset you, Kenny. I was just real happy because of your note that I couldn't help myself," Butters said as he inched back, his hands curling into loose fists as he rubbed his knuckles together nervously.
Before he could say anything else, Kenny pulled him into a hug, pressing gentle kisses all over Butters' face, making the boy squeal and giggle.
"You could never upset me, Leo," he said, finally moving back, though he didn't let him go. "I meant every word of that letter. I would die for you a million times, more if you needed me too. I don't know if I would actually be successful, but I'd be willing to give murder a shot to make you happy."
Butters snorted and broke into the bubbly laughter that Kenny adored. He patted his floof of hair, making it bounce. "For real, Leo. I don't know how you did it, but you kicked the shit out of my heart and made it yours."
"That's real gay, Ken." Butters tapped the tip of Kenny's nose, smiling. "Good thing I'm bi-curious."

Tumblr media
Hey guys you want a super long meta head canon about Kenny’s deaths that are like, super fucking important to this blog? well look no further. I’mma be honest guys. His whole dying thing is kinda a big part of his characterization. And while it won’t come up with every thread, This is just a fair warning to everyone.
Kenny’s deaths are important to how I play Kenny, and will be referenced heavily.
Anyways the meta-ness is under the cut. It’s practically an essay so be warned.
Tumblr media
Okay so first of all, is the deaths really don’t weigh lightly on his mind. He doesn’t tend to think about them, but when he does it’s hard to get him out of that rut without a “new day” so to speak.  As far as I can tell, there have been situations where the rest of Kenny’s Gangs have mentioned his deaths, or the fact that he always dies, but most of the time doesn’t remember or know. This leads to 2 things (that Kenny is able to understand. Any other possibilities though they exist aren’t plausible by his reasoning.) The first, which is what he chooses to believe and what most take as canon, is that no one remembers. Every morning, he wakes up to the same old same old with no recollection of his death.
Now, deeper into this there are no traces of his deaths. Seeing as he comes back the next day there is no time to officially and legally call him dead. There has only been 2 situations that this has happened. The first being the Bigger, Longer, and Uncut movie where he was gone for quite a while it seemed. The second being when Kenny died and was gone for a season (and I believe that spanned a month in the shows time.) Because of this, he has legally been declared dead twice, but both times since he was back the next day (or rather eventually) and no memory of how he died they assumed it to be a mistake and have since removed it from his record.
However, there are still gravestones at the cemetery from those 2 occasions (and actually a few more from when they were actually able to hold a funeral before the day was over.) Because those are there, in his older, teen years that is where he goes when he needs to get out of the house/ doesn’t want to be around his family.
Tumblr media
With all this in mind, this affects his relationships with people in a lot of ways (I’ll get to the other way that he sees it later on in the headcanon, because it is a good but sad ending note.) Kenny, while he is close to Stan, Kyle, and Eric does still have a wall up with his emotions with them. He cares much more about them then himself because, well he can just come back the next day. They can’t. They can die, and he can’t. He’s very much worried about their safety and their livelyhood. But he also tends to get somewhat emotionally distant when talk of death, loss, and anything that would be a burden on Kenny’s emotional state gets brought up. He tends to focus more on the other and will defuse the situation with his terrible and perverted jokes. He also is like this with quite literally everyone, including Craig, Tweek, Butters, Jimmy, Timmy, Token, Wendy, Clyde, and anyone else in their class pretty much.
However, while he says he doesn’t hold resentment towards them for this, it is impossible to do that. There is always some resentment, especially when someone seems to be complaining about how bad of a situation they are in. Kenny is fully aware that the situation is bad, but the fact he hasn’t had to die or has died protecting someone means there’s still an ounce of hope. In times when he’s overly stressed he tends to mentions “something that everyone has done” but will never go more in depth about what wrong doing the class has committed to him.
That being said, he is still very light hearted about it, even going so far as to play pranks with it. There have been many occasions that he will freak out one of his friends, talking vividly about a death he has had, and using 100% accurate descriptions of what happened. When his friend gets freaked out enough, and then he laughs telling them it was all a joke. In a way, that’s him testing the waters to see if they do actually remember, but he also likes being able to freak them out like that. He wants to believe that it will make them appreciate him more if they understand he might not be around all the time. However, that joke has backfired and has caused many people to be concerned, especially when he joked about shooting himself to prove a point after the events of the Mysterion episodes. He also will make promises that he will “Keep until the day he dies”. And while he does fulfill the promise, to anyone outside of himself it doesn’t look like he did.
His willingness to go along with practically anything and getting into reckless situations can also be contributed to this whole “not dying” trait that he has. He’s thrown himself on a live NASCAR track to try and kick Eric’s ass. Because he puts his friends first, and wants to make sure they are okay, there are many things that he does without thinking about how they affect him or the repercussion of his actions. This is why he is easily “peer pressured” into going along with many of Eric’s ploys and the other boys adventures. He quite honestly, like how Karen calls him, sees himself as a Guardian Angel of sorts, and he will protect those he cares about even if they don’t remember.
Tumblr media
As for where he got the powers, I’m taking that straight from the Mysterion episodes. His parents were a part of the Cult of Cthulhu, and he is supposed to be an immortal due to rituals and rights of passages his parents did while they were inebriated. After the events of the Mysterion episodes, he completely stopped looking into it. Why? Because he decided he didn’t need to know.  If the world wanted him to know, it would fucking let him know. But until then he was going to keep living (and dying) like how he always had been.
Before I get to the next little but, I want to say this.
THIS NEXT BIT HAS A LITTLE BIT OF SUICIDE TRIGGER WARNING. IF YOU WANT TO SKIP IT FEEL FREE, AND GO TO WHERE THE NEXT ICON IS. IF NOT THEN FEEL FREE TO STICK AROUND.
Tumblr media
Kenny has died in more ways than what has appeared on the show (though not by many). Some of the most noteable ones have all been a suicide in one way or another. Once he was dirty, and it was the end of the day. Rather than going and taking a shower, doing homework, and all of the other rituals needed in order to fall asleep he just threw himself in the washer and dryer. That killed him, and he woke up nice and clean. Another time he fell from a ladder while he was getting something from his garage. At some point he began getting curious what certain deaths felt like, despite the overwhelming pain that he always had as dying. Because of this, he realy doesn’t have a fear of pain or of dying, unlike how a 4th grader or practically anyone should. And yes. He’s set himself on fire for setting his farts on fire more than once. He wanted to see if he could do it without dying. He can’t.
Tumblr media
To wrap all of this incredibly long headcannon up, at the beginning I said that there were 2 scenarios that Kenny understands as what could be truth. All of what’s above is based on the one where people truly don’t remember. And now here is the other one. As I’ve said, there have been notably a few times where people have talked about his death when they should no longer remember it. I believe all of the other 3 in the main cast have, as well as a few others. If you follow this and keep it canon, that would mean that they are fully aware of Kenny dying, and truthfully don’t give 2 shits because he will always come back the next day. And while this conflicts with evidence presented in the show, it could work. Because of the fact that no one gives a shit when Kenny would die, it would cause him to go mad. So instead all of them have agreed to “fake” forgetting and allow him to think they are just ignorant to it. Kenny doesn’t want to think that lowly of anyone, and so he chooses to completely ignore this option, but it is a good flaw of his.
Thats it. Thats everythng. I fucking told you it would be an essay.
