Just imagine that somehow Jack and his people meet Lawrence Norrington, Edward Teague and Fitzy Dalton III again. And when "finally notices" who is there with Jack, he smiles like a shark and says like everything is normal "Oh! Hello, father. Hello, cousin. And good day, Mr Teague... or should I say my future father-in-law?".

Norringtons-Daltons vs Teague. So many years. Such archenemies! And now THIS?! Their boys?! How is this even possible! They SHOULD FIGHT against each other, they WERE TAUGHT to hate each other, what the hell... what is that, fucking Romeo & Juliet in the Caribbean?!?! (let's add their queerphobia).

Three months late, and perhaps a marble or two short of a full bag, but:

James Norrington regretted, sometimes, the irregular circumstances of his education as an officer; he was certainly not crowning himself in glories in his correspondence with Fanny, who signed herself still as Yr. Dedecated Virgil And Sister when she felt particularly superior. Mrs. Frances Everitt would be the person to turn to with the idle question haunting him now – about the Romans and their gods, and what passed between the two camps. He marshaled what he knew, or thought he remembered – their pantheon of gods, the dilapidated temples he had seen as a boy in the Med: stripped by disuse, the progress of time and piety, the remains of those places so much weathered stone. They had strange ideas about gods, but appealing ones. What wouldn’t any man give for a clear contract with the world – with power itself? He remembered – that boy he had been in the Med, voice half-breaking and wrists too far from his cuffs, drawing a picture of an ancient altar, and, with his extraordinarily halting Italian (cobbled together from school-boy Latin and martial Spanish and French) being given to understand that, hundreds of years before, bulls and pigs and sheep and birds of all kinds had been led here, washed and adorned. By the ceremonial blade, they were given to the gods as pact. A healthy bull – a good harvest, a just tenure, a successful campaign.

Did they really believe that? And, numbly, disbelievingly, was such a world possible? It seemed to him unlikely that the Romans had understood something that the English could not – or that the world had ever been anything other than what it was. They had been great builders, but sadly deluded as to the willingness of divinity to listen to prayers.

But (pen hesitating, carefully over the inkwell, not wanting to ruin the start he had made) – Fanny would know, or would know who to ask. Was that all there was? And what kind of sacrifice would a man make, and to which god (To Venus? To the household lares and penates?), on such an occasion as – as to guarantee Elizabeth’s good favor?

If he were to write her, he would have to explain – that he hoped to be married, and, maybe, by the time the letter made its way to England, he would be. That all this had happened without consulting her, or even hinting, would certainly bring down a ringing scold – but he had written to his widowed mother, and to his brother, as he ought to have, of what they cared to know: the Swanns, their cousins in Parliament, Elizabeth’s dowry. He had sat with a letter that was more inkblots than lettering for many hours, intending that he should – that there was something Fanny could tell him about the institution of marriage than Mama and Lawrence never could, if he would only ask her.

Mortified at every sentence, he hadn’t – and the days in Port Royal were so busy that he could easily bury his shame and unease in endless tasks. His promotion ceremony was tomorrow. Too late for advice on the asking now – he felt he could not go along in this world bargaining away against Elizabeth’s own will – however much he longed for the clear order of do ut des.

Years Ago When I First Meet You

It is Christmas today, and yet the Misty Lady and the HMS Victoire are fighting. Admiral Lawrence Norrington and Captain Teague are fighting each other.

Jack has joined in the fight and he saw a little boy not older than five looks frightened. Jack walks towards the little boy and said, "What's your name?"

"I am Lysander James Norrington." The little boy replied. "And I am this many." He said holding out four little fingers.

"Okay Sandy I am Jack. And I am ten years older than you."

"Why are daddy hurting with people during Christmas?" the little boy asked Jack.

"Sandy your daddy hurt with mine because we are pirates. And we aren't hurting your daddy, we are just talking to each other." Jack told him.

"Don't call me Sandy! I am not a girl....I am a boy! I hate that name...."

"Why? It's a beautiful name..."

"Lysander means lover boy....why my parents named me that...." the little boy said sadly.

"It's a beautiful name with beautiful meanings. But you can change it, you know? To James Lysander Norrington. No one will find out." Jack said, "Merry Christmas by the way little Sandy."

Just then, a man of the Misty Lady asked, "Why don't you just kill the little boy? He's Norrington's boy. We kill him for he killed our man. We are fighting against them. Not talking to them." The man said to Jack.

"Fighting?" The little boy's ears pricked up. "You're fighting us?"

"Who's this?" The man indicated the little boy with a jerk of his own cutlass. Jack shrugged.

"Just a sprat. Nobody important."

The man seemed to agree, and left to jump back into the fray. Jack glanced down at little Norrington, unprepared for the fiery hatred evident in the child's eyes.

"You said you weren't fighting us! You said you wouldn't hurt us! You-you-where's my father? What have you done with my papa?" The little boy pummeled Jack fiercely with every word. "If you've killed my papa, I'll-I'll-"

"Calm down!" Jack gripped the child's shoulder to steady him. "I'm sure your father's fine. You're a very violent little boy."

"Where is he?" The little boy began to cry. "What have you done with him?"

"He's not hurt!" Jack had no clue whether this was true or not, but the boy was in hysterics. "He'll be fine! Stop crying!"

"I hate you!" the child shrieked. "I hate you! You, and all your...your pirate friends, and..."

"Yes, yes, I know. Everyone hates pirates."

"I'll kill you! If you ever come back, I'll kill you!" The boy shoved Jack, tiny hands pushing into the small of his back. "If you've hurt my papa..."

23 years later

"No additional shot, no extra powder, a compass that doesn't point north-" The commodore jerked Jack's sword out of its sheath, and smirked nastily. "And I half expected it to be made of wood. You are, without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of."

"But you have heard of me." Jack smiled brightly, he is trying his best to think who is it before him. Norrington...that's a familiar surname to him. He looks at the commodore's sea green eyes, he suddenly remembered the little boy he used to call Sandy.

"Lysander? Sandy? Is that you?" Jack asked and he felt the commodore is glaring at him so bad that he thinks his brain is going to burn.

"Commodore? What's Sparrow saying? Who's Lysander?" Gillette asked.

"I don't know a Lysander." James said with an angry voice, and he tried to calm down as Elizabeth said, "Commodore, I really must protest."

"Carefully, Lieutenant" James said as Elizabeth protested.

"Pirate or not this man saved my life."

"One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness" James said.

"Though it seems enough to condemn him" Jack pointed out.

James said "Indeed." And suddenly after Gillette finished handcuffed Jack , Jack throw the irons around Elizabeth's neck and said "Finally."

"No Don't shoot" Govorner Swann said.

"I knew you'd d warm up to me. Commodore Norrington, my effects, please, and my hat. Commodore! Elizabeth . It is Elizabeth isn't it?"

"Miss Swann" James heard Elizabeth say "Miss swann if you'd be so kind. Come come dear. We don't have all day. Now if you'd be very kind" Jack said as Elizabeth strapped on his sword and puts his hat on "easy on the goods darling" Jack said to her as James rolled his eyes.

"You're despicable." Said Elizabeth.

"Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you save mine, we're square. Gentlemen, my lady, you will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow ! " Jack said and pushes Elizabeth away and escapes, swinging around and landing on a beam above their heads.

James is so angry that he still remembered the events 23 years ago when he first saw Sparrow on Christmas. He has vowed that he will kill him one day. He doesn't care of the price that he will pay.

Does your character have any prejudices?

Teague grew up in pirate society, in Madagascar with a mother who was one of the most feared female pirates of her time. Needless to say, he’s fairly liberal even for a pirate, but he’s not perfect. He definitely has some old-fashioned views of how men and (to a lesser extent) women should function within society, especially in regards to child-rearing. Now, before I continue. I want to point out that he’s aware that women come in different flavors. If anything, his sexism is largely directed at men. That said, Teague believes that women are much more equipped to be caregivers. A child can survive without a father but needs a good mother (note: I said “good” because a piss-poor mother is as good as nothing). On the other hand, a man is meant to be stoic, and take care of loved ones (financially because what even is emotional intelligence). It’s largely internalized sexism from his upbringing. Interestingly, if you asked Teague to describe this mindset he likely wouldn’t word it in such a way. But it’s clearly there. 

What’s the worst thing they’ve done out of pure malice or hatred?

This one is actually hard to figure. Despite Teague being Teague and Teague being a pirate he’s not necessarily malicious by nature- he’s a bastard just not a malicious one. The thing about Teague is that he doesn’t really hate people. You really have to do something extraordinarily cruel yourself before you’ll reach a point with him where it’s anything other than disgust. Heck, even with those he’d consider enemies such as Lawrence Norrington (James Norrington’s father) he’s not cruel. If anything, seeing as how he saves a young James from drowning and then DOESN’T kill his defeated father despite the latter most certainly wanting to kill him, you can ironically say he’s got a merciful streak of his own that (very occasionally) rears its head. 

The best way to sum this up is that putting aside the brawling, violent nature of pirate culture Teague is not someone who engages in violence for the sake of it.  There’s also something to be said for the fact that Teague will have probably killed you, or at the very least broken all ties, BEFORE he reached a point of hatred. 

[To clarify it’s not as if Teague doesn’t engage in petty violence. But he considers fist fights and other such things a form of...communication, I guess you’d call it. They’re just a commonplace thing that can be used to settle disputes.]

The only examples I can really think of are when someone has directly hurt someone that Teague cares about, and there’s a sort of surprising randomness to the attack as well. For example, Jack nearly got his hand chopped off by a pirate named Rusty Knickers. In another instance, Jack was nearly sold into slavery by a pirate named Captain Lucille Graven. In both cases Teague killed them. I don’t know if you could classify what he felt for them at that moment as hatred, but perhaps I simply have a strict definition of the word.
