Merlin and Gwen are crime besties. They're on the same page every time. Gaius is all "blah blah the consequences blah blah the law blah blah you can't play god" but when Merlin goes to Gwen and says "Hey I need a favor but it may involve some crime. I just met this guy and he saved my life-"

Gwen is like "Say no more." And then goes on to sew an entire outfit complete with a crest and chainmail in 12 hours.
