Had a guest lecture who was speaking on how genocide is such a politically loaded label and how its only afforded to certain groups of people. They talked about how at the human rights org they worked at, as soon as the invasion of Ukraine occurred people were scrambling to figure out how to label the conflict as a genocide which is interesting when compared to things like Korea, Vietnam and Iraq which in spite of the heavy tolls on the population there, those weren't genocides, they were simply the costs of war.
It also got me onto thinking on the conceptualisation of the destabilisation policy of apartheid south africa as one of genocide considering around 2.5 million indigenous people were killed by these policies and these killings were intended to kill people.
This further reminded me of the "we charge genocide" concept with African Americans in the USA and the very watered down logged on version of the debate on here where people were acting like it's absurd to call the historical (and arguably current) treatment of African Americans a genocide as if genocide is this strictly defined thing rather than a political label with variation on how and why that label is applied.
Food for thought.

Brief history.
Lily was born to two wealthy parents in South Korea. Her mother carried a celebrity status as a fairly well known fashion designer passed down from previous generations. Her father owned a successful pharmaceutical business that originated from his great grandfather as well & together they secured their only daughter’s future without any doubt that she would never have any financial struggles. With that being so, they ensured only the highest ranked educational experience for Lily. She was sent to an international boarding school for her middle and high school years in a small rich town just outside of Seattle, WA.  Since she could crawl. Lily could dance, but it wasn’t until she hit the skating rink where she was a natural star. Elegance and perfection through hard training; she took back several awards with confidence exuding at every corner. She always got what she wanted with little to no refusal from her parents or anyone around her. Regardless of this potentially being adverse later in life–her parents felt that her successful reach in academics was enough reason to spoil as they chose. Despite her parents having the perfect image and money to show for it. The relationship was anything, but perfect. Lily hadn’t found out about the divorce until returning home for a summer break and finding out through the media reports of all things. It might have had some effect on her, but she always put up the front that it didn’t because both her mother and father lacked in communicating much about it and again just fed her the money she needed to go about her daily life as a nepo princess.  Lily’s decision to attend dellecher university was an easy one with what it had to offer. Surprisingly, her parents *did not* want her to attend the university, but for her own personal reasons she did as she pleased knowing that wouldn’t dare cut her off financially.
Personality
Nari's personality is layered and even unexpected by some. She can be very charming and decisive, even compassionate once she grows closer to you.
Upon first gaze most assume she's just a sweetheart when in reality the girl is probably judging you and harsh. Though there are some that can see right through her & even if so, she would not care.
Can be unapologetically that bitch and most of her friends may know to deal with her
Her manipulative side will come out if she needs or even feels as if she wants something from someone.
can be a flirt with some tendency to lead on
is quite self aware
Other Facts
Coming from money, most expect Lily to care little about her education, but that motivates her more to do so.
she loves to party and if balancing that with studies is what she needs then she'll find a way to get it done
still hits the ice rink typically to destress and at times wishes she competed just a little longer.
loves her coffee and enjoys beaches, trails, anywhere she can see stars or just enjoy the outdoors.
If anyone would like to plot or brainstorm some things feel free to hit me up on here or discord! Or if you like I'll come to you <3

Musings on Animal Language and the Brain of the Average Princeton Faculty Member
One of the more interesting assignments I had in Philosophy of Language class, taught by Gilbert Harman (former head of the Princeton Philosophy Department) was to write an essay on the topic "Why Should We Worry About Animal Languages?"
Frankly, I am still rather proud that I was able to restrain myself from explaining to him that his mind was quite similar to that of a planaria (flat worm), at least from my perspective. In any case, the reason we need to worry about animal languages is that Humans really are animals, and mostly not interested in intelligent discourse.
I hope that I am not the only human being that appreciates the irony in the fact that Professors at Princeton in the highest-rated academic department in the world were incapable of learning things published in the 1960's by world-leading scientists who have since been proven to be correct, simply because they were unwilling to use their minds to any extent. For example, while it is extremely obvious that parrots, mynah birds, etc. can easily imitate human speech, and even learn to use it intelligently (to the extent that a 3-year old could, for instance), the brain of the Princeton faculty member is incapable of extrapolating from obvious facts like: (1) dolphins have much more highly evolved convoluted brains [than humans even], etc., and even (2) millennia of reports of intelligent dolphin behavior, as well as (3) tape-recordings of dophins emulating human speech (later duplicated just a few years ago in Beluga whales) that dolphins actually possess intelligence and language, as do many cetaceans. This forces me to reconsider whether the brain of the primitive Princeton faculty specimens is really "thinking" or merely "parroting". I suspect mostly the latter.
When I attended the one-room schoolhouse at Princeton Podunk "Youniversity" (they never learned how to spell it correctly), I had several debates with faculty about dolphins having the capacity to learn and emulate human speech.... They couldn't believe me, even though I was simply citing research by John C. Lilly and Jacques Cousteau (I had met the latter at his JPL lecture with a full-scale Skylab mockup), which was later proven to be true, 50 years after he published it, by an independent team working on beluga whales.
It's ironic, when you think about it, that dolphins and whales have much more sophisticated brains than parrots, which can learn over 300 words (Dr. Irene Pepper's research), but Princeton Professor's brains aren't sophisticated enough to learn that dolphins are actually smarter than birds and equally able to learn human speech. Sad, really. An example of why Liberals are always wrong.
There are a lot of skeptics out there, but efforts have been made to contact aliens, using some of the methodologies discussed by Stockhausen, Stephen Greer, etc., and they actually have produced some results. In my case, I worked with a group of people for about a year (in 2000) and had a number of sightings of strange craft or lights in the sky which signaled back... got some of them on film, too. Not so very different from the acoustic whalesong techniques.

So, looking at the compositions of slavery in the Cape, about 26% came from Africa; primarily East Africa (Mozambique), 25% from Madagascar, 23% from Indonesia, and 26% from the Indian subcontinent. Around 63,000 slaves were imported to the Cape.
African and Indonesian slaves were more prized than Indian and Madagascan slaves in terms of monetary value but Creolised (slaves born in South Africa) were far more prized.

"Hippocratic treatise on Airs, Waters, and Places dated to around 430 B.C.E. (Jouanna 1996:82). In this text, composed a couple of generations after the Greek defeat of the Persians, the author drew attention to the effect of climate on peoples by contrasting Asians and Europeans. In the author’s view the lack of variation in the Asian climate caused the people to be cowardly, mentally flabby, unwarlike, and subject to tyranny (Chapter 12). By contrast, in Europe the climate varies seasonally, and this variation stimulates people to be mentally sharper, more courageous, and inclined to democratic forms of polity. An account of the Scythians, a people who lived north of the Black Sea, illustrated this environmental determinism. 8 The author asserted that the cold, moist climate induced such a lack of sexual desire in Scythian men that they became completely impotent and ultimately transgendered. 9 Athens, needless to say, had the perfect climate for fostering an attractive and intelligent population."

I think the main thing I've gotten is that essentially that making grand statements on what happened in all of Europe during the Neolithic transition is useless because like... Europe is a big ass place and a multitude of interactions probably occurred.

I say Europe is a big place but the area of my comparative case study, Southern Africa is like... nearly double the size of Northern Europe and most of that is just South Africa being big mchuge.

One interesting thing I've found so far is that the Ertebolle culture like vanishes after the advent of Neolithic farmers in the form of LBK culture and then TRB culture but at some point a resurgence of genetically related hunter-gatherers occurs in the coast of the region in the form of Pitted Ware culture settlements. These guys like outlast the TRB culture all the way up until the beginning of the Bronze Age... And like why??? Where the hell these guys come from why were they able to have a foothold when like most other hunter-gatherers just peaced out after agriculture.

I'm not even sure what's happening in Northern Scandinavia yet and I cannot wait to find out. I hope it's some insane bullshit because I love insane bullshit.

I'm really glad I picked Northern Europe instead of like some shit like spain for my case study because it's wayyy more interesting than what ever the hells going on in the rest of Europe.

The whole thing is very confusing. In my schema from what I can see, it's a case of subjugation, followed by a sudden resurgence in traditional lifeways and a rejection of farming (maybe propelled by climate change??? need to research) followed by subsumation...
