Last song: tulsa's last magician by willi carlisle, because apparently it's a Songs That Take Me From Zero To Crying in sixty seconds flat kind of morning
Currently watching: survivor 💀 i have a survivor personality now. it's spouse's fault.
Currently reading: i just (JUST) finally finished Pontypool Changes Everything after putting off the last fifteen pages for a century. i'm different now. i Was reading The Silent Cry: Mysticism and Resistance by Dorothee Soelle but idk, i'm struggling a little bit to get into it. i feel like the timing isn't quite right, so when i'm done chewing on pontypool i might switch to waiting for god by simone weil. or one of the 10,000 papers from Academia i have saved for "later." my next fiction book will probably be. piranesi? or moby dick, the whale weekly folks look like they're having fun.
Current obsession: i just started trying in earnest to play pathologic again so if that goes well i expect it to take over my life for the next 3-6 months. otherwise. knitting and crochet. half my wips are in time out for reasons of Need To Wash Them but check out this lace scarf i'm working on
I was tagged by @solostinmysea - thanks!! And judging from the results, I figured I’d stick the answers on this blog instead of my main. Hah, because they turned out to be slightly more relevant to its subject matter!

The Last Song I listened to was ‘Alfadhirhaiti’ by the sonically iridescent Heilung:

And finally, the Last Image I saved was actually a tie between these two:
Yes, because I’m a big Plant Mama. But also…
This bloody gorgeous manip of Marvel!Loki, because I was trying to make a point to someone that my husband wears his hair similar to Loki’s in that image sometimes:
Handsome folks abound. ❤️🔥
Next I’m tagging @katopian @mannazandwyrd @fernthewhimsical @lokahjarta and @strikkster - mostly because I’ve seen you lovely lot on my feed lately and I’m desperately trying to think of blog names - if you feel so inclined of course. Enjoy! 😉
We imagine Loki's punishment in the mouth of the cave. After all, He is the god of many mouths, Hveðrungr, Gullveig's last stop, and Stitchlip. Why would he not be in the mouth?
Because you don't put out a fire by giving it, O Loptr, fine mountain air, sunlight, or wind.
You don't squelch a light with more light. You leave it in darkness to rot.
O, that dark primordial Thing. That cold-blooded Prometheus of the frozen north. How do you kill the deathless? You torture it to finality. Liver meet eagle. Sisyphus get happy. Loki, meet hole. (tale as old as time)
You leave him as deep as you can get him. Deep as the quick, that Blood Gave Loðurr.
And you leave that Goatballed Jester without the only thing he ever wanted. An audience. The sound of laughter. Good company.
And you leave that thrice bound sucker there to rot, wrapped round with the promise that your children, too, will be snuffed out like votive candles. Rot with them now and crawl home to your daughter. Crawling King Snake, welcome home.
That's what makes Sigyn so compelling. Sigyn, Victory Woman, The Thing With Feathers -
Rabbit says; "Joy To The Fettered,"
She flies down the tunnel, she comes heartbroken, she comes alone.
This is an Oubliette - who would choose to come but the Victorious?
This isn't Orpheus come to find her blushing bride.
This is Persephone making her bed with the mother of Monsters.
And she comes out again, from the depths which grant no mercy, with neither light, or joy, or wind, or sky. Just a bowl of poison, thirstier once emptied.
Sigyn, The Thing With Feathers, comes out of the cave and the stink and the rot. And does she stop a moment? Does she breathe the alpine air and sigh and maybe, just maybe, weep?
We know just this. She goes back.
Sigyn, The Thing With Feathers, knows that Nothing Lasts Forever. And someday, we know, all hell breaks loose.

I think it was @lokahjarta that not so recently shared a post about the months following their initial vows to Loki. It stuck with me because it was timely for my own experience. How for them it was a month of celebration, even debauchery, and shining love to the nines. And then silence. A waiting. Before the watershed.
