Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
the progression from "there's a morning snack and a midday snack" and "20 bucks for pizza" buck looking after his friend's kid to "bobby's famous lasagne: 6 types of cheese cooked to perfection" buck cooking for his family to "that's makes me your sous chef" teaching his kid how to cook is making me go so feral.
.....so the hourglass at the beginging of the season in chris and eddies boggle game during the kitchen conversation about couches (romantic partners) and not seeing what was under ones nose
and how one of the writers/producers/directors (i cant remember who) said that these things would come back and forshadow the end of the season (very loose paraphrasing)
and eddies rather ominous remark 'we've got time' in death and taxes and then 'there's no better time than now' later in the episode.
and looking at the rest of the season with a argually higher than average amount of buddie and buddie adjacent content: 'go get 'em cowboy'; the focus on eddie during the rescue; do more; the shannon parallels; the recurrance of the couch metaphor; the poker date; the buckley-diaz family moments in buck's kitchen; hell even the random blurry background buck's head of eddies shoulder and the bi lighting behind buck in mixed feelings (previously named new sensation) -> a portion of which can most certainly be read as (and i do read as) eddie having feelings for buck.
and then the romantic partners for both of them - ending the season with buck in a seemingly happy relationship (however laced with forboding parallels and forshadowing) and eddie being somewhat pushed to pursue a relationship.
the two sections of their relationship are in a way bisected by the graveyard conversation: 'i think she sees me' and eddies quiet devastation (which is in the same episode that buck meets natalia in)
i wonder if the thing which eddie is running out of time - and has run out of time with - is buck.
after spending most of the season queitly i love with buck. after having thought he lost him, getting him back, and pining over him a frankly embarrasing amount, he has lost him again. because he didnt act in time.
i still cannot believe how much freedom the cast seem to have in interviews now. the stuff that Ryan and Oliver (and Lou and that one clip of Angela at the premiere) have been saying that I could never have imagined them actually saying. out loud. while the show was at fox. it floors me being able to see the genuine care and thought that so obviously has gone into the show for years be expressed. Its lovely seeing them talk about their creative processes and their opinions on parts of the show. not to mention to discussions of the fandom. and of course the care with which these Oliver and Ryan are treating the stories they are telling.
entering the merlin fandom and trying to get a lay of the land so to speak and then realising there is no shortcut here; literally everyone is shipped with everyone.
A list of things that should be proof of buddie and would be if one of them wasn’t a guy (6x11, 6x12)
alrighty folks here goes: (sorry i'm doing this from memory I don't have the time to rewatch them again)
6x11
the heart metaphor of it all. Eddie was the one to restart Buck's heart.
the first thing buck remembers is the "alright cowboy" like??? that was on his mind.
eddie dressed in all black like a grieving spouse (cause he is one)
this episode focused on buck's relationship with his parents and siblings (inc. Hen and Chim). Eddie is not portrayed as a brother to Buck. that relationship is entirely different.
i think this episode pretty solidly infers that Chris is also Buck's kid.
oh boy were we FED with this episode
6x12
Buck is tired of company. Eddie isn't company. Eddie is his safe space. (remember that convo when they tryna catch that turkey?)
HE FELL ASLEEP ON THE COUCHHHHH.
KITCHEN SCENE. (it is so incredibley domestic)
they talk about the shooting!! (what on earth was in that script cause oliver's face! and ryan's face when he said he remembers waking up in the hospital)
the fact the eddie feels safe enough to talk about his trauma so openly with Buck is a testament to how far he has come and how strong their relationship is.
i still cannot believe that this episode actually exists.
so the og kitchen conversation just exists? and eddie just said 'there's no one in this world i trust with my son more than you' and 'in my will if i die you become christopher's legal guardian? Eddie took Buck on a fancy date and was looking at him like that the whole time? they are both repeatedly salty about the other being in a relationship. ALRIGHT COWBOY, GO GET 'EM?! and then buck remembered that in his coma dream. and buck screamed himself hoarse trying to dig 40ft to get to eddie. and eddie tried to pull buck back up onto the ladder. and eddie remembers (and will never forget) that buck was dead for 3 mintues and 17 seconds. and the screentime from when eddie is shot to when they get to the hospital is 3 minutes and seventeen seconds. and buck being wheeled into the hospital is almost the exact same shot as when karen was being wheeled in and hen was doing CPR. and eddie was the one to get his heart started again. and buck fell asleep on eddies couch. and tk mistook buck's friendliness for flirting. and eddie's constantly casually touches buck. and buck cooking dinner for his family. and eddie picked up the habit of learning random facts from buck. and the christmas elf told buck he had an adorable son. and chris ran away to buck's place. and eddie feels like he's perfoming when he's dating wome. and they share a locker. and they have each other's backs. and buck taught chris how to bake. and eddie couldn't look at buck in the coma. and eddie was screaming himself hoarse as he realised buck was hanging lifeless from the end of that red string of fate. chris called buck when eddie was breaking down. and you expect me to be normal about them.
