M.K. Ciurlionis Museum of Art: A painting in the museum that bears his name, M. K. Ciurlionis (1907) Spring was a contributor towards the symbolism and art nouveau moments, and a pioneer of abstract art in Europe. With the venue closing later on Thursdays, we arrived with an after-work crowd that might have come for the pianoi + drums concert at 5:30pm. Ciurlionis’ painting is a very important affidavit of the level of modernity of Lithuanian art in the early 20th century. In his painting, his experience as a composer, symbolist visions and art nuoveau insights amalgamated into a unique artistic phenomenon encoding the germs of some of European Modernist trends. The compositional structure of his paintings, level of abstraction of motifs, weightiness of plastic element in Ciurlionis’ painting echoes with the beginnings of abstract art epoch in European art of the 20th century. Yet, Ciurlionis belongs to European Symbolism as a follower of the spiritual ideas of the movement, loyal to the movement’s themes and motifs and symbolic treatment of his subject matter. He was especially close to one particular trend in Symbolism, which spread across Russia, Poland and Scandinavia, pursuing the metaphysical dimension through the depiction of nature. This was the tradition of Nordic Neo-Romanticism, a considerable influence on the cultural milieu of early 20th-century Poland and Russia. Ciurlionis’ work embraced, crystallised and interpreted these multiple artistic ideas at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries that also have humanist and cultural importance to the community of the 21st century. Questo catalogo accompagna la mostra promossa dal Comune di Milano, prodotta da Palazzo Reale, Fondazione Antonio Mazzotta e Museo Nazionale d'Arte M. K. Ciurlionis, in collaborazione con l'Ambasciata Lituana in Italia, Consolato Lituano di Milano e ASTIPA, con il patrocinio di Ministero Affari Esteri e Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali. Una retrospettiva che corona il sogno di molti, portando per la prima volta in Italia uno dei padri dell'arte moderna, il musicista e pittore lituano Ciurlionis (un illustre precedente: la mostra al Museo d'Orsay di Parigi, nove anni fa). Musica, esoterismo, astrologia intorno a "Ciurlionis. Un viaggio esoterico 1875-1911". La quasi totalità della sua opera, compresi gli spartiti e le lettere, è conservata al Museo Nazionale d'Arte M.K. Ciurlionis di Kaunas, in Lituania, che per l'Italia presta i dipinti più importanti e significativi, oltre a lettere e spartiti. Il catalogo comprende saggi di Gabriella di Milia e Osvaldas Daugelis, per la pittura, di Claudio Strinati e Paolo Bolpagni, per la musica, oltre a una serie inedita di lettere dello stesso artista. Elemento insolito ed eccezionale: la presenza di un prezioso CD realizzato per l'occasione, che mette in relazione la musica di Ciurlionis con Scrjabin, Debussy, Grieg. Una mostra musicale che accompagna la mostra visuale.

M.K. Ciurlionis Museum of Art: Hanging on the wall in the Lithuania Folk Art collection, the Shaft Bow is a part of a single horse harness that attaches to the shafts of the cart, joining the shafts high above the neck of the horse. To be strong, yet light, the bows were made of willow, elm or bird cherry wood. This design was brought from the Mongols via the Russian Old Believers to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a state that ended in 1795. (M.K. Ciurlionis Museum of Art, V. KAUNAS CONCERT CENTREНесколько месяцев назад мы помогали нашим любимым заказчикам из Blank Architects в визуализациях для классного европейского конкурса на новый концертный зал в литовском городе Каунас : KAUNAS M.K. CIURLIONIS CONCERT CENTRE, INTERNATIONAL DESIGN CONTEST / КОНЦЕРТНЫЙ ЦЕНТР КАУНАСА им. М.К. ЧЮРЛЕНИСА. Как можно не любить европейские конкурсы? Хорошая архитектура с большим количеством счастливых людей и все это на фоне природы и старого города). Задание на визуализацию выглядело как мечта: везде нестандартные кадры, разные время суток, множество красивых людей, ни одного ЖК или торгового центра, только вечерние платья, спектакли, воздушные шары, дымка и атмосфера теплого расслабленного вечера. Здание по проекту будет располагаться на берегу реки рядом с водой, и архитекторы хотели показать близость концертного зала и природы, поэтому у нас на визуализациях много птиц.
