Lay the spring onions on the hot pan to blister, turning after 3-4 minutes to blister the other side. Heat a griddle or frying pan over a high heat. Worth considering too for this charming dish are mackerel and herring, cooked similarly.įresh sardines 3, butterflied (ie split and flattened) “The adventure continues.” Sardines on toast with a fried egg (pictured above) It’s all a bit nerve-racking,” says Lee, breezily. He wonders if calling it “Scottish ragu” would have improved its chances of making the final version and if, perhaps, it could go in a second book. “We’re keen on that.”ĭespite his slow start, in the end Lee over-delivered with his manuscript, and some favourite recipes were lost to the editing process. Lee and friends shot the photographs for the book at his home, for a true reflection of his cooking – the chocolate tart is a little spilled, the pastry a little blond, the plates and cookware his own. “If you weren’t eating it, you were talking about it.”Īs anyone who has seen him laugh and charm his way through the room at Quo Vadis would expect, Lee is as generous in prose as he is when talking about the book, heaping praise on the close team who helped bring it all together. It’s also a journey through Lee’s career, from his signature snack of baked salsify, back to a classic pommes anna from his time at the London club Boodles, as well as a tribute to peers, mentors and his food-loving parents, who would think nothing of driving across Scotland for hours to pick up a good lobster. A chapter on blood oranges sits between Biscuits and Breadcrumbs, while Impromptu Dinners provides meals (such as a perfect pork chop and pan juices) that can be made for one or scaled up and there are simple, joyous meals to feed a crowd (little meatballs, or fennel and lemon spaghetti). The book is arranged with a chef’s eye for ingredients, and favourite things to eat throughout the seasons, rather than in courses or meals. Lee hastens to add that at least it didn’t take 20 years to put together, like Alan Davidson’s Oxford Companion to Food. The pressures of writing daily menus and working in a busy kitchen meant that structuring a whole book seemed overwhelming. “It’s been a great adventure, but I underestimated entirely what it would take,” he admits. Jeremy Lee, photographed at his restaurant, Quo Vadis, in London. But Lee had long felt a volume of his own work may be simmering away, and when approached by Fourth Estate in about 2016 he knew it was time to make it real, eventually. And of course, the holy trinity of Elizabeth David, Julia Child and Jane Grigson. They’re filled with books about food, from nouvelle cuisine pioneer Michel Guérard to current London pastry sensation Ravneet Gill. God knows that this kind of thing is standing on the shoulders of the great and the many,” he says, gesturing to the shelves on all walls of his home. “I had shied away, I suppose, mostly because I thought it had all been done. Loved by the London food world since making his mark at Terence Conran’s Blueprint Cafe, it seems like an oversight that Lee has not published a cookbook until now. The book, Cooking: Simply And Well, For One or Many, was the result of many years of work, on and off, and he wasn’t quite ready to face its reality. W hen Jeremy Lee received the very first copy of his new cookbook from his publishers, he immediately threw it in a drawer, then cycled from his home in east London to get on with his day at Soho’s Quo Vadis, where he is chef-patron.

The Full Graham Show Blog Post
Guess I should write this out so I don’t totally forget what happened last night :((
So @roomeight, @howling--fantods and I all get to the venue early and Graham just like! Strolls Up! Just out of nowhere; the guy with us, Javier, like just said hey there he is, and he was there Wow Amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I almost didn’t go up there cause he had just gotten to the venue and I didn’t want to swarm him like the other people there and he seemed a little tired. I asked him about his vape! And he showed it to me, it was like metallic colored and looked cool.
I could barely look him in the face holy shit he was like skinnie and tall and scruffy. Wow 👀
After that he came out again once just to go get lunch with Chuck from Look inside America (cool!) and we didn’t see him again until the show started.
So, by this time, I’d smoked quite a bit of the old Mary Jane, and I was fairly courageous.
Alex and I giggled during a quiet spot in the song and Graham asked what we said and we responded with “Oochy Woochy...” and he gestured to his guitar and made a face “how am I supposed to play that??” It was so cute and funny.
I kept talking to him the whole show (maybe a little too much). He made some faces at me when i talked to/videod him, these two were the best
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I kept going until I felt like I was annoying and got really self conscious, as I kinda can overdo things sometimes.
Graham finished his set (sorrows army wOw) and said we were a good crowd, and thanked us
I threw him a hat I crocheted!! @jeremy-lemon and his girlfriend (sorry I don’t have your url) gave him their drawings. Graham told me it looked difficult and I said it was haha
Afterwards, we waited outside the front of the venue and discussed the show
According to Javier, the woman next to him didn’t like me being all loud so I felt even worse about talking so much.
After about like 30 mins, all of a sudden someone says “oh there he is” and he’s just......standing right outside the venue on some steps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He seemed a lot less tired than before (the Red Bull/Apple juice combo and the high of a good applause probably) and he was very talkative and sweet and adorable w everyone.
I said I was sorry for being annoying and he said,”oh that was you!” And no, that he likes it when people talk.
I told him I came from Georgia and he said he’d like to visit, haha. Lots of people begging him to visit.
I gave him the Kiss of Morning to sign and said “I know I had a photo before but can I take a selfie with u” and he said sure and I told him to make a dumb face and he grumbled and did these that I posted before
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lol myfuckin face I hate it but he’s so cute sndndndnd
I stepped away and helped Alex, Heather, and Jeremy’s girlfriend get pictures with him because there were some women swarming him and I figured he’d leave soon.
I told him thanks for staying and hanging out with us and that it was really cool of him to take time for everyone. I don’t know if he heard me but I meant the hell out of it and he said goodbye to us all and walked down the street, looking cute as hell uWu
In Short, I love U Graham, like I’m never gonna experience any other show like this again probably. The fact that it was so stripped down and chill made it so much more memorable.
Tumblr media
Also Graham’s rlly sexy irl 100% as hot as the photos

Day 148
Woke up around 10ish and my power was out. Tried going back to sleep but that didn’t work so I just ended up laying until 11 when the power came back on. Tried making out internet work again cause of the power outage but I gave up after awhile. Took a shower and then my internet was back on so I finished up my post that I started last night and turned it in. Just in time cause Zinjin came at 1 and picked me and then Alyssa up to go to Sushi King. Went there and it was good. I ate a good amount since I didn’t eat breakfast so yeah. Zinjin paid for me cause he’s cool and I was having a bad week so yeah. Afterwards, we went to UPS near Lynnhaven so Alyssa could drop off her books and then we went to the mall. Zinjin was looking for shorts so we went around different stores looking for them and he ended up buying two at Old Navy. Went to Barnes and Nobles next and we stayed there for a good while answering questionnaires from teen magazines. Jeremy came and he joined in on the fun as well. After what seemed like 45 minutes of doing that, we left and Zinjin got Boba. Then we thought of what to do for awhile and we ended up going to the park.
We went to Alyssa’s to pick up some balls to play with (heh) and then we went to Princess Anne Park (originally was going to be the one by my house in Buckner). When we got there, we played around at the playground for a little and then ended up using a swingset as a volleyball net and playing. We mainly used a giant bouncy ball as our ball and it was real fun. We put our stuff like our phones and Ray Bans and stuff on the swingset so it made it more scary cause the ball could hit the swings and make our stuff fall. That just made it more fun so that was cool. After awhile, we left close to 7ish cause Zinjin had to eat dinner w/ fam but his parents were in traffic so we went to Ross cause he was looking for a trimmer as well. After he bought that, he left and the rest of us went to Dollar Tree to pick up something to drink and then Jeremy drove us around. Went to the Oceanfront and just drove all the way down towards Shore drive and then he dropped me off at my house around 835.
Chilled until about 850 and then went to Applebee’s to meet up with the Krew for Jonita’s birthday. Me and FM got there first and I told Stephanie that I may need until 930 to be there but she didn’t reply so I thought 9 o clock was still the time to be there. Called up Jonita and Stephanie to see what was going on and Jonita was still hanging out with a friend and Stephanie was deciding whether to go since her dad wanted her home/she needed to study. Twins came shortly after and then we just hung out in the parking lot until they both showed up. Got our table and yeah. Stephanie needed to leave once we got our waters since she really needed to study so that happened and it was just the rest of us eating dinner. I offered Jonita to buy literally ANYTHING that she wanted since it was her birthday and we got her two Margaritas and a good dinner. I just had a slider thing for dinner cause I was still kinda full from Sushi King. Anyway, almost all of us finished our meals (not Jonita or Gennie) but Jonita at least finished her margaritas. Stayed there until about midnight and then we left. We were kinda sketch about Jonita driving since we didn’t really know how she felt so Gennie drove her car and everyone came to my house. Twins left after getting to my house and then it was just me, Jonita and FM. Went inside and chilled on the roof so Jonita could “sober” up. I did my quiz/test for my class which took a bit and then after watching FM figure out this shadow puzzle game he was playing, we went to Walmart to get some stuff that Jonita needs for her party. Got some sodas and lemons/limes and other things and then we left to go back to my house. Planned out what was happening tomorrow morning and then everyone left. It’s 256 now and I gotta wake up at 7 so I should sleep now.

Roger Berlind, 90, Dies; Broadway Impresario Who Amassed 25 Tonys Roger Berlind, who produced or co-produced greater than 100 performs and musicals on Broadway, together with such vital and box-office hits as “The E-book of Mormon,” “Expensive Evan Hansen,” “Metropolis of Angels” and revivals of “Guys and Dolls” and “Kiss Me, Kate,” died on Dec. 18 at his residence in Manhattan. He was 90. His household stated the trigger was cardiopulmonary arrest. Throughout a four-decade profession within the theater, Mr. Berlind backed a few of the most unique work on Broadway and amassed an astonishing 25 Tony Awards, one of many largest hauls on document. (Hal Prince, one other prodigious Tony-winning producer, collected 21.) Mr. Berlind helped convey buoyant musicals to the stage, just like the smash 1992 revival of “Guys and Dolls” with Nathan Lane, in addition to refined literate dramas, like the unique 1984 manufacturing of “The Actual Factor,” Tom Stoppard’s dazzling exploration of the character of affection and honesty. “The Actual Factor” swept the Tonys, successful for finest play and finest director (Mike Nichols) and garnering high appearing awards for Jeremy Irons, Glenn Shut and Christine Baranski. His path to Broadway was oblique. In a position to play the piano by ear, he fancied himself a songwriter, however his dream of creating a dwelling that approach fell flat and he went to work on Wall Road. He was a companion at a brokerage agency when tragedy struck: His spouse and three of his 4 youngsters had been killed in an airliner crash at Kennedy Worldwide Airport. Inside days, he resigned from his agency. “The entire thought of constructing a enterprise and making a living didn’t make sense anymore,” he informed The New York Occasions in 1998. “There was no extra financial motivation.” After a interval within the wilderness, he discovered his strategy to Broadway, which helped him rebuild his life and set up a complete new profession. “The numerous factor about Roger is that he made an unbelievable turnaround,” Brook Berlind, his second spouse, stated in a cellphone interview. “His life was totally bifurcated by the accident,” she stated. “There was Act I and Act II. I don’t suppose many different individuals might have gone on to such success after such disaster.” Success on Broadway got here slowly. Mr. Berlind’s first manufacturing, in 1976, was the disastrous “Rex,” a Richard Rodgers musical (with lyrics by Sheldon Harnick) about Henry VIII, which the Occasions theater critic Clive Barnes stated “has nearly every little thing not going for it.” Because it occurred, the music of Mr. Rodgers bookended Mr. Berlind’s profession. His final present, of which he was one in all a number of producers, was the darkly reimagined Tony-winning 2019 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” (That present made Broadway historical past when the actress Ali Stroker grew to become the primary one who makes use of a wheelchair to win a Tony.) After “Rex,” Mr. Berlind co-produced six different exhibits earlier than he had his first hit with the unique 1980 manufacturing of “Amadeus,” during which a mediocre composer burns with jealousy over the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The play, written by Peter Shaffer, directed by Peter Corridor and starring Ian McKellen and Tim Curry, took residence a number of Tonys, together with finest play. Two extra successes rapidly adopted: “Refined Women,” a 1981 revue with music by Duke Ellington; and “9,” a 1982 musical primarily based on the Fellini movie “8½” a few tortured movie director going through skilled and romantic crises. Alongside the way in which had been loads of flops. Producing on Broadway is all the time dangerous, with no surefire system for successful. It grew to become much more difficult within the late twentieth century, as theater individuals migrated to Hollywood, labor and promoting prices soared and excessive ticket costs discouraged audiences. Getting exhibits off the bottom required an increasing number of producers to pool their assets, and even then they had been unlikely to recoup their investments. Certainly one of Mr. Berlind’s achievements was staying within the sport. Regardless of the challenges, he took probabilities on exhibits as a result of he believed in them, and since he might afford to lose as usually as he gained. “I do know it’s not price it economically,” he informed The Occasions in 1998. “However I really like theater.” His successes included “Proof,” “Doubt,” “The Historical past Boys,” the 2012 revival of “Demise of a Salesman” with Philip Seymour Hoffman and the 2017 revival of “Howdy, Dolly!” with Bette Midler. Scott Rudin, who produced about 30 exhibits with Mr. Berlind, stated that Mr. Berlind was propelled by “monumental fortitude and persistence.” “He was not dissuaded by the obstacles that dissuaded different individuals,” Mr. Rudin stated in an electronic mail. “He had monumental positivity, which is way, rather more uncommon than you would possibly suppose.” That grew to become evident after the terrorist assaults of Sept. 11, 2001, when Broadway went darkish for 48 hours, an indication of the financial uncertainty that hung over the town. On the time, Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani urged theaters to reopen rapidly, and so they did. However a half-dozen exhibits closed, and one on the verge of doing so was “Kiss Me, Kate,” during which Mr. Berlind had been deeply concerned and of which he was enormously fond. He was enthralled with Cole Porter’s music, and every little thing within the present had clicked. The winner of 5 Tonys, together with finest revival of a musical, “Kate” had been operating for practically two years and was not scheduled to shut till Dec. 30, 2001. However due to a pointy drop in ticket gross sales, the manufacturing was going to shut early. A cut-off date of Sept. 23 was introduced. Simply earlier than the curtain rose on what was purported to have been the ultimate efficiency, Mr. Berlind, a modest man who evinced little of the showmanship typical within the theater, took to the stage. He held the closing discover in his hand and ripped it up. “The present will go on,” he declared, to an already emotional viewers. The forged and crew had agreed to quit 25 p.c of their pay and to donate one other 25 p.c to purchase tickets to the present for rescue employees. The transfer allowed “Kate” to maintain operating till its scheduled Dec. 30 closing. “That was my Merrick second,” Mr. Berlind later informed The Guardian of London, referring to David Merrick, one in all Broadway’s famously outsize showmen. The Guardian went on to reward Mr. Berlind’s exuberant London manufacturing of “Kate,” which opened that October, as “an emblem of the indomitability and charm underneath strain of a neighborhood, certainly a metropolis, that has been reeling since 11 September.” Roger Stuart Berlind was born on June 27, 1930, in Brooklyn to Peter Berlind, a hospital administrator, and Mae (Miller) Berlind, an novice painter who gave portray classes whereas elevating her 4 sons. The household moved to Woodmere, on Lengthy Island, when Roger was 3. He attended Woodmere Academy and went on to Princeton, the place he majored in English. His campus life revolved across the theater. He joined the Triangle Membership, which performs student-written comedies, and Theatre Intime, a student-run theatrical group. Years later, in 1998, he donated $3.5 million to construct the 350-seat Roger S. Berlind Theater as a part of an enlargement of Princeton’s McCarter Theater. After graduating in 1952, he joined the Military and served within the Counterintelligence Corps in Germany. At one level he was on a troop ship with Buck Henry, the comedian actor and author who died this yr, and the 2 usually created exhibits for the troopers. When Mr. Berlind returned to New York in 1954, he was decided to change into a songwriter. “He liked the big-band music of the ’40s, he might play nearly any tune from the American songbook and he had a fantastic reminiscence for lyrics,” his son William stated in a cellphone interview. His personal tunes ran to the straightforward and nostalgic, as mirrored by their titles, “Lemon Drop Girlfriend” and “Isn’t It a Rainbow Day?” amongst them. However Tin Pan Alley was uninterested, and, needing a job, Mr. Berlind was pointed by pals to Wall Road. “I had by no means had an economics course in faculty,” he informed Playbill in 2005, “and I had 26 or 28 interviews earlier than anybody would rent me.” He labored for 4 years at an funding home, then in 1960 co-founded a brokerage agency, Carter, Berlind, Potoma & Weill, which went by varied iterations till it was acquired by American Specific in 1981. His companions alongside the way in which included Sanford I. Weill, who grew to become chairman and chief govt of Citigroup, and Arthur Levitt Jr., the longer term chairman of the Securities and Alternate Fee. It was a heady time for Mr. Berlind. However on June 24, 1975, his world stopped. He had gone to the airport that day to fulfill his spouse, Helen Polk (Clark) Berlind, and three of their youngsters — Helen, 12; Peter, 9; and Clark, 6 — who had been returning to New York from New Orleans after visiting Helen Berlind’s mom in Mississippi. Whereas on strategy to Kennedy in a extreme storm, the Boeing 727, Japanese Air Strains Flight 66, was swept down by a wind shear and crashed, killing 113 of the 124 individuals on board, together with Mr. Berlind’s household. Their son William, 2, was at residence in Manhattan along with his nurse on the time. As he grew up, he had unresolved points round what had occurred. “Roger was so broken by the accident that he didn’t spend as a lot time with William on this topic as he might have,” Ms. Berlind, who married Mr. Berlind in 1979, stated. Lastly, a psychiatrist informed Mr. Berlind that he wanted to reply William’s questions, even when he requested the identical factor time and again. Ultimately, this proved therapeutic for each father and son. “He was current and robust for me,” stated William Berlind, a former reporter at The New York Observer and author for The New York Occasions Journal, who adopted his father to Broadway and collaborated with him on a number of exhibits. “He was marked by the tragedy,” he added, “nevertheless it didn’t eat him, and he persevered.” Along with his spouse and son, Mr. Berlind is survived by two granddaughters and a brother, Alan. In time, pals related Mr. Berlind with individuals within the theater, and he was quickly immersing himself in the complete strategy of placing on a present. He had a fame for usually being extra aware than many producers about not interfering with the inventive course of. However Mr. Berlind all the time insisted that the work he backed have benefit. Whereas he stored a chilly eye on the underside line, he may very well be seduced by sheer artistry. “He had been a tricky and profitable businessman, however in his theater life he was besotted by expertise, and that’s what he invested in,” Rocco Landesman, who produced “Guys and Dolls,” “Kiss Me, Kate” and “Proof” with him, stated in an electronic mail. “He liked his flops nearly as a lot as his hits,” Mr. Landesman added. “And every time one in all his exhibits closed, Roger was ‘accessible’ once more.” Supply hyperlink #Amassed #Berlind #Broadway #Dies #Impresario #Roger #Tonys

You are My Sunshine
(Inspired by the prompt where Jeremy sings “You are My Sunshine” to a Reborn!Faith)
“Here’s your big brother, Faith…” Mike said as Doll gently handed the small baby to Jeremy. The baby squirmed and reached for Jeremy’s nose, earning chuckling from everyone. Jeremy was admittedly feeling overwhelmed as he held the little girl. “You’re doing awesome Jere.” Jeremy nodded absently.
“Y-Yeah, thanks…” Doll gently patted Jeremy’s back as Faith made some cooing sounds.
“I think she would like a song.” Jeremy looked at her in surprise.
“W-What!?” Doll nodded, and Jeremy realized that he wasn’t going to back out of it, even with his nerves saying otherwise. He looked between the supportive looks of his “parents” before looking down at the baby, who was looking at him with big expecting eyes, as if she was waiting for the song too. Jeremy smiled softly before he started to sing. You are my sunshine, My only sunshine “What’s with the look?” Jeremy asked as he saw the little girl pouting as she sat on the steps to the house. “Shouldn’t you be at the park with Dad?” “I didn’t wanna go.” She huffed, rubbing her nose. “The park is mean!” He looked at Mike, who was standing behind the screen door, shaking his head, obviously having tried to help Faith, but had been ‘banned’ to the inside. Jeremy nodded slowly as he sat next to her. “Mind telling me why it’s so mean?” Faith gave him a quizzical look. “So me and Daddy can give it a timeout, or a scolding.” “Oooh….” Faith said before looking at her feet. “Well, the park lets mean people come in…and let them call me names…” Jeremy quickly looked back at Mike, who was equally surprised and ready to lay waste to the bullies, provided Faith wouldn’t shoo him back inside or him getting caught by his wife before he made it to the park. Jeremy sighed. “Well, I think the park is silly.” Faith looked up at her brother. “Well, cause it doesn’t seem to recognize how amazing you are.” Faith made a face. “I’m serious! I mean who else can beat Daddy at Rainbow Road! Or eat all the lemon puddi with me when Mom and Daddy aren’t home?” Faith tried to keep her face the same, but Jeremy saw the beginning of a smile creep at the corners of her mouth. “And of course, who’s the best person to sing with?” “Golden Freddy!” Jeremy pursed his lips as he nodded. “Well, yes, but what about the best best person?” “Oh yeah! That’s me!” She said before looking at Jeremy sheepishly. “But you sing pretty too…” Jeremy chuckled as he ruffled her hair. “Thanks Faith…”
“Can you sing for me now pleaaase?” You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you “Faith!” Jeremy was barely able to catch his sister before she hit the ground, her eyes glazed over and black, ghostly wisps escaping from the young woman. Jeremy looked around in a panic as Mike rushed over as he tried waking up his daughter. “Faith! Faith, baby, please! Wake up!” Mike cried out in between choked sobs, but nothing was working, as Faith laid limply in Jeremy’s arms, like a lifeless doll. “FAITH!” He cried out as Jeremy tried fighting back tears as well, as he tried figuring out what was going on. “That fucking Woods kid.” Jeremy looked at his father figure, confused. “What?” “I’m sure he’s got something to do with this…” “How?” Jeremy asked slowly and Mike shrugged. “Not sure, just have a gut feeling that it’s all that moron’s fault….” Mike looked at his daughter and caressed her cheek before sighing and standing up. “I’m going to find that punk and get some answers.” He looked at Jeremy. “Stay with her.” Jeremy nodded and for a moment, Mike smiled slightly before he furrowed his brows and grabbed his hat and headed to Fazbear’s Frights. Jeremy looked back at Faith and held her close, relief flowing through him as he heard her heartbeat, quietly beating, but still beating. Please don’t take my sunshine away.

Assignment2 Final work - Concept statement
For assignment two, I continue the question from last assignment which the binary between clean and dirty. I did three experiment to lead to my final artwork. The first experiment, the material I used was an ice cube, a glass of pure water, oil and ink. I did a comparison with two glasses of water.
In the first one, the ink could be clearly identified through the water owing to the different colors; therefore, the ink could be regarded as a dirty median to mix with clean water. Although the water has been polluted, the process is fabulous. On the other hand, I added some oil to the ink for the second experiment so the color is flow on the surface of water,  thereby looking clean and natural with a sight in front of the glass. However, the audience just needs to change a perspective and then they will see through the appearance to perceive the essence. This comparison could explain how clean and dirty these two individuals present in the different situation, simultaneously they will obtain multiple results. In light of this, something looks beautiful is not always authentic. There is no straight explanation to define whether it is clean or dirty, it depends on which perspective the audience on and how they understand it.
Secondly, I did an experiment in a video form to empathize the dirty parts in the city such as tissues, banana skins, advertisements and cigarettes on the ground. The material I used was an empty glass. In the video, I invariably provide the beautiful environment of the city in a colorful form and then focus on the trash with  a back and white filter. The glass would be a tool to magnify those uncivilized actions that people normally do not realize. By shooting video, there is a clear comparison between clean environment and dirty rubbishes. This idea was inspired by a series of photographs from an artist Suzanne Sarnoff, she used water-filled vessels in a variety of shapes and sizes, thereby intriguing in their distortion of reality. In my experiment, I want to alternate two perspectives (clean and thriving city and trash surround the city)  that people see the world. Therefore, I criticized the uncivilized actions, and people will have a second consideration for their daily behaviors.
Furthermore, the third experiment is about a contrast between fresh and rotten fruit. When I did this experiment, I changed my idea about final work and have some new inspirations. I took some pictures of rotten fruit and fresh fruit to express clean and dirty, and I used photoshop to work with the details in the rotten lemon and apple pictures. From this experiment, I also want to deliver the idea that something looks fresh and clean but it would be dark and putrid if takes another perspective. This work was inspired by the painting from Dennis Wojtkiewicz. He took his still-life paintings to another level when he decided to work with fruit. Attracted to the inside of pieces of everyday fruit—the seeds, veins, and the translucent flesh and color changes—Dennis renders them in large-scale using oil on canvas. Therefore, artists would prefer to choose fresh and clean fruit as their subjects of artwork but I would like to reveal the dirty part after or behind the beauty, thereby focusing on the process more than a single result.
Finally, I made a video for my final work to present clean and dirty in food safety. This video is called ‘How does a tea shop make fruit tea?’, I want to reveal the dirty process that consumers cannot see, in order to criticize the way of earning money among some food and drink shops is by cheating behaviors. The idea was inspired by a video called ‘The Majestic Plastic Bag’, I used the same ironic technique in my video to add humor for it. Also, the shooting and editing technique was inspired from ‘Cat’s Kitchen’, which is in a romantic and pleasant atmosphere. Therefore, I chose rotten fruits, fruits that dropped on the floor, and out of date pearls and tea leaves as my main ingredients, although it is hard to believe how dirty the production is that people cannot see, it is true that most of shops would save the cost but ignore the quality and sanitation. For the background music, I chose a slow and romantic one which works suitably with satire. It is also ironical at the end of the video, the consumer only see the part that tea shops want to show him such as plenty variety of fruits; however, they do not notice that they are extremely dirty. The final work thread the main ideas of my experiments which is see through the appearance to perceive the essence. Clean and dirty this comparison could explain something looks beautiful is not always authentic.
