Emma my beloved!! Listen this is peak "I don't know how to interact with you or sustain conversations online but I think you're really cool from afar and I want to be your friend but I don't know how" ADHD kinda mood. Anywho, that being said, this was really hard since I feel like I don't know you as well as I might feel I do. So I went with my heart and went with a movie that always makes me think of you and Steph (though the reasons are long forgotten).

You remind me of Kathy Selden from Singin' in the Rain (Debbie Reynolds' character). A quiet, perhaps a little reserved, star in the crowd who nonetheless has got what it takes and knows what she's doing and what she's about. A quietly confident and firey when you get her going kind of spirit. Up for shenanigans but not really getting into trouble or nothing. Equal opportunity to be the voice of reason or the little devil on your shoulder urging you forward into something just a little bit more. Plus that lovely, quiet queer vibes that the trio in that movie clearly gives off. I have been wanting to sit down and make myself rewatch this movie for a while and I feel like Kathy is a good character who has enough agency without being like a rough and tumble or loud and brash kind of character. Nothing wrong with being like that, but it just doesn't quite fit with the Emma that I've hung out with (on those rare occasions we see each other in person)

hello this is a weird ask but do you have any good greater boston fanmix recs or any good songs for characters? i finally listened to it and caught up three days ago and now i'm missing every character a lot

you have made a VERY good choice imo, and this is not a weird ask at all! I personally have put up a Stamatis siblings mix (“Family” by To Kill A King being my favorite on there probably) and Michael came up while I was doing song recs, and there’s also now an official Dimitri playlist! I haven’t spotted a lot of fanmixes going around, although I’ve missed a lot of stuff these past few months and I’d love to hear them, too.

Also, Jonathan Coulton’s Brookline just feels like something that exists in the Greater Boston universe. (Which is kind of hilarious, realizing now that Poletti and his family live in Brookline.)

the following was written with e*mo*tion playing on repeat

setting: earth, post-finale.

when doug eiffel comes home, all the doors lock behind him.

“what’re you doing?” he asks, curiously, and hera remembers that he doesn’t have the trope of the avenging AI anymore, and that renee tries to keep doug out of any of the ongoing... issues, with goddard futuristics, so to him locking the doors is just that, just locking some doors.

after returning to earth, doug and hera decide to go through hera’s database of written culture together, in alphabetical order

hera’s got some more free time than doug does, so she listens ahead and shows him the highlights

she has a bit of an agenda tbh. no AI gone murderous, no questions of what it means to be human, nothing about whether or not you are your memory

anyway, today she got to the Cs. and communications officer doug eiffel never told her about carly rae jepsen

AND

annie was a fan, she used to head a group for deaf CRJ fans but she’s not as into it anymore, so doug KNOWS about CRJ and he DIDN’T TELL HER

hera... loves carly rae jepsen

doug didn’t want to tell her because hera’s been so happy being able to show him things! he knows she never really got to do that before

but clearly he made a terrible mistake

and now he must atone

anyway from here it turns into a concept thing where each chapter is based on a CRJ song and it’s about doug and hera learning what kind of people they are and also menacing their entire friendgroup with carly rae jepsen songs. they live with renee and kedelka sort of and they get kedelka on their side, obviously, as previously discussed, they have choreographed dances and kedelka gets sucked into one and renee pretends she’s mad about it but honestly she loves her terrible family, she and lovelace end up getting slightly tipsy and doing I Really Really Like You one time and eiffel and hera and kedelka love it so much

jacobi’s kind of settled down and shows up sometimes, and he also loves CRJ, and actually loved CRJ before any of them. he’s very jacobi about it. he gets doug concert tickets for his christmas birthday in the most prickly way possible and doug is like GREAT I’M TAKING HERA and jacobi’s like.... she’s a house. i’m a human person who loves carly rae jepsen. you have a DAUGHTER, and then there’s a whole thing where they realize jacobi’s trying to be friends with doug via CRJ but hera is RIGHT THERE and she is GOING TO THIS CONCERT DANIEL

and then the last chapter, which honestly i would write, is doug and hera at the CRJ concert and they aren’t worried about whether or not they’re people or if it matters that they aren’t who they used to be, because they are jamming out to CRJ and they aren’t the same best friends they were before but that doesn’t have to be bad! they’re two people who are best friends now, and carly rae jepsen is there

and that’s the fic! i’m not going to write most if not all of it, thank you for your patronage

Hello! You seem incredibly well-versed in audio drama podcasts, so I thought I would come to you with this. I teach middle school and have the opportunity to teach an enrichment-type class once a week and am thinking of doing an audio drama production cluster. Do you have any audio dramas that are definitely appropriate to show to middle school age (11-14 years)?

That’s so awesome! With the caveat that I haven’t personally listened to either yet, The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel is super critically acclaimed and specifically aimed at middle school kids (their website says 8-12), and Hush is written, performed, scored and edited by teenagers (both middle and high school students, I think). Hush’s podcast feed also includes interviews that the students have done with various professionals on writing/producing similar stories. I hope these are helpful, that’s such a cool thing to be doing with kids!

@mareemallory that scene was just VERY WELL VOICE ACTED ON ALL FRONTS gosh i love it :') and peter is absolutely very taken in with juno in it aha OKAY it's been a WHILE since i listened to the og aha but i think probably ?? the restaurant scene where they are just. verbal sparring and playing around and flirting and pete is so CLEARLY having fun with another person genuinely for the first time in HOWEVER LONG and he's so excited about it and showing off and being an ass to the waiter bc ~he knows something you don't know juno~ and then the adrenaline rush of the mafia and the fighting ect ect and finding out about juno's brother all right after each other boom boom boom seems very on brand for winning peters affection??? like the fear the flirting the serious real depressing glimpse at juno's inner workings and harsh past-- i think that's where i'd pin it?? and for the og i don't think it's as staggered i think peter is just slammed like oh FUCK i'm in love with this guy somehow????? there's no gradual push and pull w himself. just like. whoops now i'm in love with him. what on earth am i supposed to do with THAT. like i remember hearing a lot more peter after that moment and not much rex-- only in moments where he remembers he's trying to RUN A DAMN SCAM which is very endearing lol AGAIN HMU W UR THOUGHTS???
