#margot robbie was nominated as part of the best picture nom
Text
...wait, people are genuinely upset that greta gerwig didnt get nominated for best director for the toy commercial movie when the movie got nominations for best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best original song, best production design, best costume design, best picture, and best adapted screenplay for which greta gerwig was nominated?

those crying about margot robbie not getting an oscar nom are the same people that haven’t acknowledged america ferrera’s first ever oscar nomination. it’s very telling…
As I said, Ryan didn’t deserve that nomination. And if I’m honest, neither did Margot Robbie or America Ferrera. I like them both but their performances on Barbie aren’t even close to comparable with the line up of performances this year. Like, I can name you two or more actresses that deserved an spot on Best Leading Actress before Margot Roobie.
And I don’t think she cares all that much. She pushed this movie to be more about her as the movie producer. I am sure she is fine with the billion dollars it made and her bonuses. Barbie getting a Best Picture nomination is a win for her and her production company. The moment I saw people quoting Taylor Swift over Margot not being nominated while throwing the rest of the actresses nominated under the bus just tells me everything I need to know about this brand of “feminism” being hysterical over it.
Let’s talk about Greta Lee’s snub. Or Teyana Taylor for A Thousand and One. Or Fantasia for The Color Purple. Let’s speak on Lily Gladstone being the first Native American woman from the US to ever be nominated at the Oscars for Leading Actress. But this whole award season has been about the internet crying and hyping white woman instead of the women of color. This year was great for black woman on TV, especially when it comes to the comedy genre.
With this being said, Greta Gerwig did deserve her Best Director nomination but so did Celine Song for Past Lives and she’s not even being mentioned in the conversation by the so called feminists that are tired of men taking the noms. Also so tired of some acting like Justine Triet didn’t deserve her nomination for Anatomy Of A Fall. People are being so disrespectful to her.
Lastly, I celebrate America‘s nomination as part of the Latino community and I’ll just pretend she was nominated for her debut Real Women Have Curves (2002) which she deserved way back. She won’t win. But I am happy for her getting that recognition for her years of craft.

lets hear your film critiques and oscar nom opinions babe 🎤
thank you for asking minty bc this is something I was born to answer. there are still a couple of "oscary" movies that are still on my list to see but that won't stop me from giving my oscar opinions! and here they are in lovely bulleted format:
when getting upset about the oscars, it's always important to remember: it's very rare that they truly reward the best movies of the year. for every parasite year there's a million green book/bohemian rhapsody years. but also I think this year's noms are basically fine with a couple of minor exceptions and that in itself is a win.
why does the academy hate todd haynes? it's like they go out of their way not to recognize him. justice for may december and even more justice for charles melton!!! he was sending ppl his mom's kimchi as part of his campaign 😭 (but congrats to sterling k brown on slipping in. wouldn't trade that but would def kick out ryan gosling for charles melton in a heartbeat. I think he's the weakest link honestly)
I already gave my barbie thoughts but I actually think it got overrewarded in some places at the expense of margot robbie in actress. like what is america ferrera doing there? lol they could easily have swapped in like 5 better options.
as for the killers of the flower moon of it all: lily gladstone better win. swap out bradley cooper for leo (why was the academy so hard for maestro lol). sucks it missed out on screenplay but it's a competitive year!
I wish the academy had the balls to nominate an animated movie for best picture bc it would have been nice for boy and the heron to make the cut. so annoying it went overlooked in score!
even if they were never gonna go for him, zac efron deserved to at least be in the conversation for best actor!
congrats to academy award nominated film: godzilla minus one!!! 🎉 the budget was so low but it looked so amazing! a well-deserved nomination!
if anyone is curious (which surely you must be), below the cut are my current top 10 of 2023 on letterboxd
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this list is always changing btw but I stand by it!
ps if any moots are on letterboxd let me know bc that's actually my fave social media platform

Margot Robbie did a fine job in Barbie and I do enjoy watching her performance, but the role itself just wasn't that…interesting? It didn't give her all that much to do. And yes, ha ha, real life imitating art with the man getting nominated, but giving the lead actress an award nod just because she's a woman in the feminism 101 movie isn't great either.
The things the author suggests should be rewarded - defying all critical expectations, making moviegoing fun again, and the message about women having to work twice as hard - are not things the best actress category is about, as far as I know. (which isn't far, because I quit watching awards shows before I even joined facebook, and I quit facebook years back)
I'd imagine those are more things for the best picture category. Maybe screenplay. Editing? Costume? Those kinds of categories as well, depending. But not necessarily actor. Again, though, what do I know.
Something, I suppose, because Barbie does have a Best Picture, nomination. And adapted screenplay (yeah, I bristled at that, too, but it does fit with the usual way things are sorted, even if I'd quibble with that usual way).
Oh, shit, they got a costume design and production design nomination as well. Maybe I'm not as clueless as I assumed (to be clear, I hadn't seen this article when I wrote everything above this paragraph).
Now, it should be added that Gerwig and Robbie were nominated — just not for best director and best actress. Gerwig got a nod for best adapted screenplay for the film, which she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach. And Robbie's work as executive producer, for which she is up for Best Picture, included convincing Mattel to take real risks in how the character and the company was portrayed.
Oh wait, what? You mean, they are actually being recognized for some of the work they did? Damn.
And I want to really emphasize that we are talking about the Academy Awards, right? Like, the Olympics for movies, I guess. As in, few even get to that level of recognition/competition, let alone get nominated, let alone win.
So when you have a single movie hoovering nominations, there are that many more projects that don't even get into the running. So. Yano. Just to keep things in perspective here.
Back to Robbie's performance - it's not that she wasn't good, but there wasn't much there there. Barbie was the character around which the movie revolved, so her purpose was mostly to...be. I believe Robbie very much has the range for a Best Actress Oscar. This role, though? Not so much.
You know what role in Barbie did have that range more than the titular lead? Gloria. She's the one who delivered the fucking feminist monologue.
Actually, we can continue the art copies life copies art reading of the situation: the outrage over Ken getting a nom when Barbie didn't has completely overshadowed America Ferrera's nomination altogether. A white woman did not receive the praise many felt she'd earned by simply existing and being pretty while the recognition of a Latina's hard work gets handwaved away as a "nice, but." Sure, it's nice that the woman who absolutely nailed the most relatable part in the movie gets nominated, but it doesn't matter as much because Barbie herself did not. And yes, a lot of that Robbie snub outrage is because Ryan Gosling did get a nod. But folks are pissed about the lack of a nomination itself as well.
This is already way too long and I haven't touched on the Best Director part yet. Though there isn't nearly as much for me to say, either. I don't know why the Academy didn't pick Gerwig over someone else who got nominated. I can't argue it wasn't a decision based in misogyny.
What I can, and do, take issue with is the LA Times writer's need to be awful about the other projects in her attempt to somehow prove Gerwig was being unfairly treated. And doing so while tying in the historic nomination of a Native American actress is just bad. Especially considering the horrid smallpox joke and absolutely pointless Mount Rushmore gag that made it all the way through to Barbie's final product. (seriously, though, did nobody say anything? or did gerwig & co just overrule?)
The state of feminism right now makes me sad and tired and articles like this are doing nothing to help. Barbie shouldn't have been seen as revolutionary by so many of my friends, and yet. I can't believe we've managed to get to a place where I long for the fucking 90s.

me bitching about oscar noms for 10 minutes straight
pls ignore this
i just need to rant
lets start out by stating the obvious: women and people of color were snubbed to hell and back (as usual)
pretty sure that literally ONE person of color was nominated for any acting award which is an absolute travesty
like seriously, someone tell the academy that despite her track record nominating scarjo twice doesn’t make up for hardly nominating any people of color
i’m happy for parasite, it was one of my favorite movies and a foreign language film being nominated for best picture is a big deal, but i honestly think it deserved even more. like i’m pretty sure the academy decided that since they couldn’t understand the actors they wouldn’t even try to pay attention to the acting performances in it bc song kang-ho and park so-dam delivered two of the best performances of the year and deserved nominations
on a related note NONE of my top 5 acting performances of the year were nominated so there’s that
margot robbie should have been nominated for once upon a time in hollywood. she was so clearly the best part of that movie. now leonardo “i only date women half my age” dicaprio, quentin “i abuse my leading actresses” tarantino, and brad pitt are getting all the credit for the movie she made meaningful. without her fucking fantastic performance that movie is nothing (and that is no thanks to the script bc it wasn’t like on paper she was given much to do). it is entirely thanks to her performance. she deserves literally all the credit for that movie. she was that movie. but no, lets reward the men for the movie she made great because we don’t wanna admit that a woman was the best part of a male-dominated film!!!!! like fuck off
everyone has already said this but the academy royally fucked up by not nominating greta gerwig for best director
booksmart deserved a nomination for original screenplay but i guess its all-female writing team wouldn’t fit in with all the male writers
while this is obviously less important than women and people of color not being recognized, i am sick of horror movies being seen as lesser
although obviously some of the issues intersect (like lupita nyong’o being ignored)
i didn’t love midsommar but even i know it should have at least gotten nominated for production design, cinematography, and leading actress
damn they were nominating all these white men and still couldn’t fit in rob pattinson and willem defoe? like c’mon guys, these two actually deserved it
pretty wild that almost 50 years later taxi driver managed to get the most nominations!!!!! like wow didn’t even know that was possible

oscar predictions, 2018
(all categories are ranked by likelihood of a nomination...)
picture:
the shape of water
three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
lady bird
dunkirk
get out
call me by your name
the big sick
darkest hour
the post
i’m gonna go with 9 noms because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i guess that’s the number the academy (usually) comes up with nowadays. don’t count out i, tonya, the florida project, or even wonder woman to sneak in there (plus i’m still ignorantly rooting for phantom thread), but those are all huge MAYBEs.
director:
guillermo del toro, the shape of water
greta gerwig, lady bird
christopher nolan, dunkirk
martin mcdonagh, three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
jordan peele, get out
best director is always tricky. for the most part, they match up with the dga noms... and then there are other years where lenny abrahamson or michael haneke or benh zeitlin sneak in there totally unexpectedly. i think that’s why luca guadagnino (call me by your name) and even sean baker (the florida project) still have the best chance to get into the top five. the wonder woman ~*phenomena*~ officially died about three months ago, but patty jenkins got so much fucking press this year that i can’t call her totally “out” just quite yet. also, there’s steven spielberg (the post), who, i mean, is speilberg, so watch out for that one...
actor:
gary oldman, darkest hour
timothée chalamet, call me by your name
daniel kaluuya, get out
james franco, the disaster artist
daniel day-lewis, phantom thread
is daniel day-lewis really not gonna get nominated for his supposed “final” acting role?? ...i don’t think so. of course, there’s sag nominee denzel washington (roman j. israel, esq.) and ~tam honks~ (the post) to watch out for, but i think this top five is pretty solid.
actress:
frances mcdormand, three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
saoirse ronan, lady bird
sally hawkins, the shape of water
margot robbie, i, tonya
meryl streep, the post
meryl’s getting nominated. i can’t even believe this is still a question. that bitch got nominated last year for fucking florence foster jenkins... you all really think she won’t get nominated for a speilberg movie?? jessica chastain (molly's game) and judi dench (victoria & abdul) might “steal” margot’s or meryl’s nom, but i honestly don’t see that happening.
supporting actor:
sam rockwell, three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
woody harrelson, three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
richard jenkins, the shape of water
willem dafoe, the florida project
armie hammer, call me by your name
i really, really want michael stuhlbarg (call me by your name) to take the fifth spot, but armie hammer has the advantage of technically being a lead actor campaigning for supporting, and the academy just loves nominating those performances instead. DEFINITELY don’t count out christopher plummer (all the money in the world) or, i guess, steve carell (battle of the sexes)... actually, do count out carrell, but not plummer.
supporting actress:
allison janney, i, tonya
laurie metcalf, lady bird
mary j. blige, mudbound
holly hunter, the big sick
octavia spencer, the shape of water
i would fucking KILL for lesley manville (phantom thread), but then again... according to “experts,” the only other possible upset here will be hong chau (downsizing) which tbh... also won’t happen.
(i know it’s important to share the names of talent which don’t get nearly enough recognition or press for their work + achievements every year... but also no one is paying me to make these predictions, so i’m just gonna list the films for the remaining categories. i apologize for my laziness.)
original screenplay:
three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
lady bird
get out
the shape of water
the big sick
possibilities: the post, i, tonya, phantom thread, and darkest hour
adapted screenplay:
call me by your name
molly’s game
the disaster artist
all the money in the world
logan
possibilities: wonder woman, last flag flying, and the beguiled (?) [maybe, genuinely, one of the worst years ever for this category]
cinematography:
blade runner 2049
dunkirk
the shape of water
mudbound
call me by your name
possibilities: darkest hour and three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
costume design:
phantom thread
beauty and the BEAST!! (that ugly ass dress... am i right?!)
darkest hour
the shape of water
the beguiled
possibilities: victoria and abdul, the greatest showman, and the post (for the caftan, i guess)
editing:
dunkirk
the shape of water
three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
baby driver
get out
possibilities: blade runner 2049, the post, i, tonya, call me by your name, and star wars: the last jedi
hair & makeup:
wonder
darkest hour
bright
possibilities: guardians of the galaxy vol. 2
production design:
the shape of water
dunkirk
darkest hour
blade runner 2049
beauty and the beast
possibilities: murder on the orient express and the greatest showman
score:
the shape of water
dunkirk
phantom thread
the post
darkest hour
possibilities: star wars: the last jedi and three billboards outside ebbing, missouri
song:
“remember me,” coco
“this is me,” the greatest showman
“evermore,” beauty and the beast
“stand up for somthing,” marshall
“mightly river,” mudbound
possibilities: “the mystery of love,” call me by your name
sound editing:
dunkirk
blade runner 2049
the shape of water
baby driver
wonder woman
possibilities: star wars: the last jedi, war for the planet of the apes, wonder woman, and beauty and the beast
sound mixing:
dunkirk
blade runner 2049
the shape of water
baby driver
wonder woman
possibilities: star wars: the last jedi, the greatest showman, and beauty and the beast
visual effects:
war for the planet of the apes
blade runner 2049
star wars: the last jedi
the shape of water
dunkirk
possibilities: okja and guardians of the galaxy vol. 2
animated feature:
coco
the breadwinner
loving vincent
mary and the witch’s flower
boss baby
possibilities: ferdinand and despicable me 3
documentary feature:
jane
city of ghosts
icarus
last men in aleppo
strong island
possibilities: faces places and an inconvienent sequel
foreign language:
in the fade
a fantastic woman
foxtrot
loveless
the square
possibilities: the insult and on body and soul
i’m not even sure how to “predict” the short film categories because this industry does such a terrible job spotlighting them and because i’m 99% sure actually academy members just choose them at random... but i’d honestly be pretty happy if those young filmmakers who directed in a heartbeat won for animated short because #GayRights!!!

Oscar Nominees 2020
Well, here we are again. I didn’t try to write up my guesses for the nominees this year, though they’re pretty much aligned with what came in, because they were too early.
This year, even more than last, is going to be one heck of a battle (lack of diversity aside because that’s an entirely different discussion). Not just because of all the great productions and performances, but because this is likely going to be the inflection point for streamers vs. establishment in Hollywood. Either the final votes will snub the streamers and risk becoming irrelevant and pissing off a number of creatives, or they’ll accept the new normal and change the landscape forever. Given that Netflix leads the pack of studios with 24 nominations total, it isn’t out of the question that platform, as a decision maker, may actually have faded since the Roma controversy of last year.
The other two surprises for me were the complete snubbing of The Farewell and Joker garnering the most noms of the season. Farewell not getting a shot at anything is near criminal. It was one of the best films of the past year. But so was Joker, and I honestly thought the Academy voters would eschew it in large part. So, I was wildly wrong on both counts… which just intrigues me more.
So with a few awards already out there, I’m going to risk my early predictions before making a final call the night before the awards early next month. I imagine my insight(?) will shift as more awards are announced and sentiment clarifies over the next few weeks, but it’s never stopped me before…
Actress in a Leading Role
Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) Scarlett Johansson (Marriage Story) Siorse Ronan (Little Women) Charlize Theron (Bombshell) Renee Zellwegger (Judy)
This is a great list, and every one of these women deserve recognition. But Zellwegger really stands out in her transformation and subtlety of performance. And, let’s face it, Judy Garland is beloved by the industry, which gives her a leg up.
Actor in a Leading Role
Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory) Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood) Adam Driver (Marriage Story) Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes)
There are a number of great performances here as well, but I think Joaquin Phoenix really out-classed all these other men. His performance is the most complex and, ultimately, the most affecting.
Actress in a Supporting Role
Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell) Laura Dern (Marriage Story) Scarlett Johannson (Jojo Rabbit) Florence Pugh (Little Women) Margot Robbie (Bombshell)
This is a really tough field to choose from. Each performance in the list is strong for a different reason. Given Dern’s previous wins for the role, she probably has the edge. Johannson is going to have her votes split and Pugh and Robbie each have great moments, but aren’t quite as impactful as Dern in their roles.
Actor in a Supporting Role
Tom Hanks (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) Anthony Hopkins (The Two Popes) Al Pacino (The Irishman) Joe Pesci (The Irishman) Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood)
A similarly difficult field to choose from. I think Hanks, as good as he was, is simply going to get overlooked, and the dueling Irishmen will cancel eachother out, allowing Pitt to float to the top. In this field, were I to choose, however, I’d give it to Pesci for his quiet and subtle performance that overshadows the entire movie.
Adapted Screenplay
The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Little Women The Two Popes
The selection of a winner here will depend heavily on what the voters are looking for in a script. The most creative is, hands-down, Jojo Rabbit. But Joker is an unexpectedly powerful tale of mental illness and a society gone wrong. Irishman is a quiet epic that is really just a small tale of family in the most beautiful of ways. And Little Women and Two Popes took source material and broadened it into a more encompassing philosophy and message.
But since only one can win, I’m thinking Irishman or Joker, with odds on Irishman.
Original Screenplay
Knives Out Marriage Story 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Parasite
Man, I just want to scream “stop making me pick!” The only one that doesn’t belong here is Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which was a lousy script. I’m sorry, I know I’m in the minority, but I hated the script. In any event, it doesn really hold a candle to the rest of these.
Honestly, on merits, I think it’s between Marriage Story and Parasite. And since Marriage Story is unlikely to get more than Best Supporting, I’m thinking it will pick up the statuette here…also because it manages to do the seemingly impossible: making divorce feel positive.
Directing
Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) Todd Phillips (Joker) Sam Mendes (1917) Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood) Bong Joon-ho (Parasite)
Unsurprisingly, these are all part of the Best Picture pool as well, and with many of the same challenges. For sheer, unexpected craft, my choice would be Joker or Parasite. For audacity of vision and production, 1917. For journeymanship and career best: The Irishman.
But as to who will win? I’m going to go out on a limb and take a lesson from Gravity’s win a few years back and call it for 1917, simply for the incredible delivery of an audacious vision.
Best Picture
Ford V Ferrari The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Little Women Marriage Story 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Parasite
With the exception of front-runner Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and the snubbing of The Farewell, this is a legit list for the year. Given these selections, I’m hard-pressed to pick just one (and expect that much vote-splitting is going to really randomize the winner).
For now, I expect Once Upon a Time to win. It is such insider-baseball and has a groundswell, where many of the others are more divisive and likely to siphon votes from one another.
If it were solely up to me, I’d probably go with The Irishman. It is such a subtle epic and beautifully crafted all around. But honestly, so was Joker. I just don’t see Joker taking this top prize with this voting block. The real question is whether the Academy can get past Netflix-hate to award this top prize to a streamer?
International Feature
Corpus Christi Honeyland Les Miserables Pain And Glory Parasite
Gotta be Parasite, despite all the other excellent entries.
Original Song
“I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” – Toy Story 4 “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” – Rocketman “I’m Standing With You” – Breakthrough “Into the Uknown” – Frozen 2 “Stand Up” – Harriet
I’ve always found this category somewhat pointless. It is rarely about more than popularity. And while that may be something worth rewarding, many songs are simply in the credits or as incidental music…there isn’t much consistency in how they interact with the film. This year, none of the songs really broke out in any particular way (again, let me express joy at not being subjected to Let it Go v2). Being forced to select, I’m going to go with Harriet, if for no other reasons than the lack of diversity elsewhere and Eviro’s cred.
Original Score
Joker (Hildur Guonadottir) Little Women (Alexandre Desplat) Marriage Story (Randy Newman) 1917 (Thomas Newman) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (John Williams)
Going with Joker for this one. My experience was best enhanced by the score for that movie. It wouldn’t surprise me if Star Wars takes it since it set a record 52nd nomination for John Williams. He’s only won 5 of those and only Walt Disney (the man) has ever had more at 59. Though, also props for the dual Newman brothers noms… going to make the next holiday meal entertaining, I’m sure…
Documentary Feature
American Factory The Cave The Edge of Democracy For Sama Honeyland
While Honeyland is a good contender, American Factory with the Obamas behind it may ride a political wave to the front of the race. But I haven’t seen any of these yet to make an educated guess.
Documentary Short Subject
In The Absence Learning To Skateboard Life Overtakes Me St Louis Superman Walk, Run, Cha-Cha
Still waiting to see these.
Live Action Short Film
Brotherhood Nefta Football Club The Neighbors’ Window Saria A Sister
Still waiting to see these.
Animated Feature Film
How To Train Your Dragon I Lost My Body Klaus Missing Link Toy Story 4
For the sheer hubris of the story, I’d love to see I Lost My Body win, but it’s gonna be Toy Story 4. That series really went out on a high and the craft of it is solid. Missing Link just didn’t really work well for me, as much as I’ve loved the previous Laika offerings, and How To Train Your Dragon was sweet and pretty, but not exactly brilliant. Klaus, well, whatever.
Animated Short Film
Dcera (Daughter) Hair Love Kitbull Memorable Sister
Cinematography
The Irishman Joker The Lighthouse 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
Until recently, I would have selected differently, but 1917 is a Cinematographer’s dream/nightmare, and its successful delivery sets a new bar for movies. All the nominees have things going for them, but none were as challenged.
Film Editing
Ford V Ferrari The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Parasite
How 1917 was subbed here, I don’t know. But, given it isn’t in attendance, my best guess is going to be Ford v Ferrari due to the Le Mans scenes.
Production Design
The Irishman Jojo Rabbit 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Parasite
Such a hodgepodge of eras and approaches makes this a grab-bag. Irishman and 1917 are both perfect incarnations of their eras, making the production design invisible. Sorta true for Once Upon a Time as well, but I just don’t think it has the same creativity. Jojo and Parasite each have a sense of whimsy and reality that mixes in unexpected ways. Because of the latter two’s impact on the story itself, rather than just facilitating the tales, I think it goes to one of them, and if I had to guess (which I do), I’m going with Jojo Rabbit.
Costume Design
The Irishman Jojo Rabbit Joker Little Women Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
Almost always this goes to a period piece, despite any of the other relative values of the productions. Since 1917 isn’t in the mix, I’m betting on Little Women.
Visual Effects
Avengers: Endgame The Irishman The Lion King 1917 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
This is another tough one. Tougher than usual as several of these films are in it for pushing the envelope in different ways. I’m ignoring Avengers and Star Wars as possibilities as they are big and flashy, but not really new. Lion King found a new way to film that is astounding (however weak the film itself was). Irishman did magic with aging and de-aging. 1917 recreated and presented WWI in a way never achieved before. I think for the invisibleness of it, The Irishman may take this one.
Makeup and Hairstyling
Bombshell Joker Judy Maleficent: Mistress of Evil 1917
Thinking Bombshell or Judy for this. I’m leaning Bombshell because of the transformations the makeup provided. Zellweger already looked like Judy, but Theron was subtly metamorphosed into her character with invisible prosthetics and makeup.
Sound Mixing
Ad Astra Ford V Ferrari Joker 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
I think both this and Sound Editing are up for grabs between Ford v Ferrari and 1917. If the latter gets a groundswell, it may well sweep the two.
Sound Editing
Ford V Ferrari Joker 1917 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
I think both this and Sound Mixing are up for grabs between Ford v Ferrari and 1917. If the latter gets a groundswell, it may well sweep the two.
NOMINATIONS BY FILM
Provided just for reference, but certainly interesting to consider when considering who has the attention of the voters.
Joker (Warner Bros.) – 11 The Irishman (Netflix) – 10 1917 (Universal/Amblin Partners) – 10 Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (Sony Pictures Releasing) – 10 Jojo Rabbit (Fox Searchlight) – 6 Little Women (Sony Pictures Releasing) – 6 Marriage Story (Netflix) – 6 Parasite (Neon) – 6 Ford v Ferrari (Disney) – 4 Bombshell (Lionsgate) – 3 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Disney) – 3 The Two Popes (Netflix) – 3 Harriet (Focus Features) – 2 Honeyland (Neon) 2 Judy (LD Entertainment and Roadside Attractions) – 2 Pain and Glory (Sony Pictures Classics) – 2 Toy Story 4 (Disney) – 2

Golden Globes: 'The Shape of Water' Rises to the Top

Golden Globes: 'The Shape of Water' Rises to the Top
The Hollywood International Press Affiliation swooned over The Form of Water, Guillermo del Toro’s imaginative fantasy romance a few mute girl who falls in love with an odd sea creature, as nominations have been introduced Monday morning for the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards. Along with securing a nomination as finest drama and a directing nom for del Toro, the movie amassed nominations for its main woman Sally Hawkins, supporting gamers Octavia Spencer and Richard Jenkins, its screenplay by del Toro and Vanessa Taylor, and its rating by Alexandre Desplat.
In the perfect movement picture-drama class, Water was nominated alongside Name Me by Your Identify, the sun-drenched same-sex romance; Dunkirk, the World Battle II battle epic; The Publish, which recounts writer Katharine Graham’s resolution to publish the Pentagon Papers; and Three Billboards Exterior Ebbing, Missouri, the story of a girl out to avenge her daughter’s homicide.
All of the Cash within the World, Ridley Scott’s thriller in regards to the kidnapping of J.
