a/n thank you for the request! gamer!ellie is very canon and i like it very much because i am also very much gamer xo short as always, i'm not good at writing long stuff but i hope you enjoy this! situated in a no outbreak au, joel is alive, but ellie and him do still have the same awkward-ish jackson dynamic :)

one thing you loved about your relationship with ellie was how you were able to be in each other's presence, doing separate things. as much as you both liked being around one another and doing things together, you're both very independent people who like to do their own things every now and then.

ellie would be strumming on her guitar, humming whatever new lyric she had come up with, drawing in her sketchbook or playing a game on her console. on the other side of the room you would be reading a new book, giving your favorite movie another rewatch or looking up recipes for deserts you think ellie would like. your girlfriend got a sweet tooth, and you loved using it to your advantage whenever you wanted something or whenever you had had a little disagreement.

your co-independence was very beneficial to your relationship as a whole, but it also helped you out on one of your weakest points; gift giving. while ellie was great at remembering things you told her that you'd like, writing everything down in her notebook and never failing at picking out the perfect present for you, you weren't blessed with the skill of being a good gift-giver. so to know what ellie liked doing in her own time, was a blessing on it's own.

a drawing pencil engraved with your initial, a guitar pick in her favorite color or a new polaroid camera all belonged up there with some of her favorite gifts she had received from you.

so now ellie’s birthday was coming up, and unlike other years, you weren’t stressed about what you were going to get her. she had been chewing your ears off about this new game that had come out, something about space and spaceships and flying and… whatever else. she'll like it. you're sure she will.

saying she would like it was... quite the understatement. she had barely even unwrapped it and within a blink of the eye she was already halfway the story of the game. you liked it, you really did, when she was doing her own thing playing her game and you got some time to yourself, but it had been a bit much lately. you knew that gifting her that game would have your time together a bit compromised. knowing ellie she would get completely lost in it for a couple days, and usually you were fine with that, but you'd been feeling needy for her attention a little these past couple days, but your girlfriend hadn't been feeding into it.

it was sunday afternoon and you were laying on her bed, feet dangling off the edge watching ellie who was playing her game. she was looking good, you couldn't deny that. it was a hot summer day, ellie resorting to only a white tank top and a pair of shorts. your attention was shamelessly caught by her hands, how she gripped the controller and how her thumbs were expertly toying with the joysticks. she kept cursing under her breath, getting worked up after failing to beat a level for the umpteenth time. it was pathetic really, but it got you going. the heat, paired with how hot your girlfriend was looking and the lack of attention you'd been experiencing lately took it's toll on you.

you climbed off your shared bed and came up to ellie, wrapping your arms around her torso from behind. you rested your chin on the top of her head and stayed like that for a little moment, your eyes following ellie's character on the screen of her tv. she'd gotten it from joel as a moving out gift, when she left jackson to come live with you. it could definitely use some fixing up, probably even replacing, but ellie would not budge whenever you said she should get a new one. she didn't like talking about joel, but this was her silent way of having him around, just a little. so you let it be.

she didn't react to the newfound presence behind her so you sighed, quite excessively. no reaction. you sighed again, but you were once again met by nothing more than ellie's whispered curses. you decided to change your action plan, your actions growing a little bolder. you started pressing soft kisses against the side of her head, moving closer towards her ear, where you gently bite her earlobe, to which she hissed softly. so that's what got a reaction out of her.

"els, i miss you", you sweetly whispered in her ear. "hmmpf- babygirl, i'm still playing. can you just have a little more patience f’me?". on any other day, you probably would. you would muster up that last drop of patience you had left inside of you, but today was different. you lowered your head towards her lightly freckled shoulders and playfully bit the exposed skin. you scratched the back of her neck with your freshly manicured left hand, knowing damn well she loved the sensations of your nails gently scraping down her sensitive skin. you were trying to get her to give in to you, to finally give you that special attention of hers you were so desperately craving.

when you noticed that her game character stood still and her controller was long forgotten about, you knew you had her where you wanted. you pressed a couple more kisses on the crook of her neck before turning her chair around and throwing your leg over hers, getting comfortable in your girlfriend’s lap. “please, baby? i’ve missed you so much and i need you”, you delicately whispered while looking into ellie’s eyes, your hands now playing with the hair at the back of her neck. she had recently been for a haircut, so it was just the right length to comb your fingers through.

you noticed a look in ellie’s eyes that you knew so well, and you couldn’t help a small smile forming creeping up your face. her hands on your waist started roaming up and down your sides, as she dipped her dead down to press a bruising kiss against your lips. you let out a little whimper, what made ellie involuntarily buck her hips up against yours. she bit her lip and let go if it with a plop before grabbing the back of your thighs, lifting you up and walking over to your shared bed.

General Thoughts on the first two eps of Berry in the Big City Season Two

Judging from these two episodes, I think season two is off to a good start.

From the first shot of the first ep, you can see how the animation team has improved over the course of the first season. This episode is mostly dedicated to a song, but does show the addition of Raspberry Tart to the official friend group. (This raises the question of where Sour Grapes got herself to, but I'm sure that will be the subject of its own episode.)

Those of you who were feeling the lack of Peculiar Purple Pieman in season one will not be disappointed, as it looks like he's going to be a pretty prominent character this season.

I like how you can tell that Strawberry's first encounter with Kiki Keylime gave her unrealistic expectations for interacting with other celebrity bakers, though it's also clear that the Peculiar Purple Pieman's snubbing of her is very intentional. I'm interested to see if he only has it out for Strawberry, or if Raspberry will also be one of his targets.

When Lemon Meringue started spouting the feelings talk, I was like "This is something her dad has said on multiple occasions, 100%."

My favorite thing is when I'm watching a show and think "Why isn't X happening," and then the show immediately addresses that. In this case, it was me wondering where Raspberry was in the whole 'Strawberry tries to win the Peculiar Purple Pieman's approval' debacle, and then she showed up with some groceries being all "What's going on?" and immediately being "Oh, that girl just needs some sense slapped into her," on hearing the situation. While Raspberry was a fun antagonist, I think she works better as part of the friend group.

I was going to wait until I rewatched season one as the end of Summer of SSC to mention this, but that was with the assumption that season two wasn't starting until the fall, so here are a couple of things I hope we get in season two:

Some of Strawberry's friends from Berryville coming to visit (a great way to introduce more reimagined characters from the previous versions). At the very least, I hope Apple Dumplin' shows up, so we can see if BitBC continues the recent trend of making her related to Strawberry. (She was her sister in SSC03 and her cousin in Berry Bitty Adventures.)

Raspberry's pet! Now that she's part of the official friend group, her pet has to join the others, and even if she's supposed to be a rich girl, I doubt she'd have a pet monkey in this version. Since she was made to be a foil for Strawberry, maybe she'll have a cat, too, but some fancy, snooty kind. And still named Rhubarb.

Plum Pudding! Please, showrunners, add Plum Pudding and make them related to Bread Pudding in some way. That's the biggest thing I've wanted for the show since episode one (technically two)!

1/3 I recently rewatched the Belle performance & I think they may have foreshadowed Ginas romantic arc for S3. Has probably already been mentioned but Ash singing to G about meeting "Prince Charming & not discovering its him till chap 3" may seem like its a hint to Ricky but the prob is theres nothing left for her to discover. She already knows how she felt about him so theres no new info there. W/ EJ however who has been described as "charming" by more than 1 member of her fam, maybe the guy...

2/3 ...who she discovers her feelings for next season. But this time it'll be real & reciprocal & I think it'll be love. Not just a crush. She may not know it as love at first but maybe thats what she discovers by the end? What do you think? I know some PWs feel like S3 is too soon to say "I love you," especially since Seblos & Redlyn haven't said it yet but I think it's possible they may say it in the first 1/2 of the season,...

3/3 ...while it may take Portwell the entire season to get there. I wouldn't be surprised if we do get an "I love you" scene for PW in S3 since they are the type of characters that know what they want & aren't afraid to communicate it. I would imagine it would happen casually & without much thought. It would sorta slip out but they mean it nonetheless. Basically the opposite of how Rini did it. Not a grand gesture, just a simple one. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Thoughts?

I know a lot of people in this fandom have speculated that the line "here's when she meets Prince Charming, but she won't discover that it's him 'till chapter three" is foreshadowing for Gina's arc, but honestly? I don't see it. When Ashlyn starts singing the line, she walks to the group while looking at Kourtney. Then gets into place and looks at Gina for a moment, then at Lily, and then at someone else in the group. It's not specifically directed at Gina, so while I can understand how Prince Charming could connect to EJ, I don't think that line was intentional foreshadowing.

Personally, I think that Gina singing this was way more intentional:

Unlike Kourtney and Ashlyn, Gina acts this part like she'd be happy to become Madame Gaston. And we all know where she ends the season:

On the topic of their first "I love you", I do agree that season 3 wouldn't necessarily be too soon for them to say it. I can see the argument for them realising they're in love over the course of the season and saying it at the end of it.

However, I think it's more likely that season 3 focusses on the two of them deciding to stay in Salt Lake permanently, and that season 4 will be about them realising they love each other. And that it will be a big deal. Hear me out.

EJ had this summer romance with Nini and eventually realised he loved her. So he told her just before her audition, without overthinking it. He just said it in the moment because he felt it. And it blew up in his face, because Nini didn't say it back and didn't feel the same way. We've seen how EJ overthinks things, and I think that once he realises he's in love with Gina, he'll overthink that too. Because what if they just had a summer romance, like he had with Nini? What if it's all different now that they're back in school and they're not even in the same school anymore, even if EJ's around to help with the musical? What if he says it too soon and ruins everything they have? She matters too much to him, and he'd never want to screw that up. So I can really see him struggling with if he should say it and when.

Gina, on the other end, has never been in love before. So what does that feel like? When do you know you're in love with someone? I can really see her struggling with that question. She already struggles with expressing how she feels, and even if she's grown a lot in that area, I'm sure it'll be difficult for her to even figure out how she feels, let alone voice it. But since she'll feel much more secure in her relationship with EJ at that point, I don't think voicing that she loves him will be as big a deal for her as it will be for EJ. Because she doesn't have the same internal insecurity about that as he does.

Nini not reciprocating EJ's "I love you" was a big deal for him, and I think it would make a lot of sense for the show to have him realise he loves Gina around the same post-summer timeframe as he did with Nini, so they can parallel and contrast the two situations. And while EJ is trying to work through his insecurities about saying "I love you", we could see Gina work through defining how she feels.

The way I could see this storyline play out is that we get a moment of EJ realising he loves Gina early in season 4 and we see him struggling with that for a while. In the meantime, Gina starts wondering if she loves EJ and what it feels like to be in love. Perhaps another couple's first "I love you" could get the ball rolling in her head. In an ideal scenario, I'd love to see EJ talk to Nini about his insecurities, while Gina talks to Ricky. Nini could tell EJ that his "I love you" wasn't what caused their relationship to end, and that they were always doomed to fail because she was still in love with Ricky. And Ricky could tell Gina about the moment he realised he was in love with Nini and what that felt like to him, so Gina can take that knowledge with her and have a moment like that herself with EJ, where she's just looking at him doing something that's so him and knows that what she feels for him is love.

I'm not sure what my ideal scenario is for them saying "I love you" to each other, or how I imagine it playing out. Maybe EJ is working himself up to saying it while Gina is having her realisation, only for Gina to excitedly blurt it out to him just moments after realising how she feels. It could be really sweet and healing for EJ to hear it from her first. But then again, it could also be huge for him to say it first and have Gina immediately reciprocate it. Or have them say it at the same time.

I don't necessarily think their first "I love you" will be some grand speech like with Rini. I actually agree that it will be a lot more simple. But I don't think it will happen casually and without much thought. It seems more likely to me that we'll get a big build up to it, because there's a lot of potential for character growth in that storyline. But just like Gina didn't need a big speech to declare her feelings to him in 2x12, they won't need a big speech to tell each other they love each other. The pay off can be simple, because all that matters is that they say those three words knowing just how much they mean them.

2021 - the good bits

Since 2022 has now begun (or as I like to call it: the third year of The Plague) I thought I'd take a look back at 2021 and all the things that brought me joy. Because no matter how shitty a year might have overall been, there is always something that makes you smile.

So without further ado, in no particular order:

My fandom friends: the Hugh Crew, the Officers' Club, the Hornblower fam and, still quite new, the lovely people from the Six Idiots fandom. You've all made 2021 a lot more funnier and exciting than it would have been without your fics, art, headcanons, discussions, asks and messages. I love you, and I'm very grateful to know you all. I wish you a happy new year and I hope it will be filled with happiness, laughter and smiles.

My writing: I wrote 45 fics in 2021 which is a new record for me. They range from one hyperfixation to another and every single one of them is dear to me. Looking back, I can say that writing has become a lot easier to me (as in, I can write more quickly than before) but editing still takes a long time because I'm not a native speaker and always start doubting every second word I wrote.

My music: I have started writing my own songs this year and it's great to see the progress I made between the first one I wrote and the last one. My newest song, inspired by Thomas's death in Ghosts, is the first one I felt comfortable playing in front of other people and when my dad said I should put it on Youtube, I can't say I didn't feel at least a little proud. I haven't uploaded it anywhere yet but maybe (if there's interest and I overcome my lack of self-confidence) I will someday. This could be my New Year's Resolution.

My family: I am grateful we've managed to get through this pandemic so far without anyone of us getting sick. And I'm even more grateful my mum's cancer treatment was such a success. Getting her diagnosis during our summer vacation was a huge shock and even though we know she'll never be cancer-free, it's such a relief to know she responded so well to the chemotherapy and still has a lot of time left. And finally, I'm happy I got to see my godchildren again after months of isolation! Those three fill my life with so much joy and I love them with my whole heart.

Fandoms: I had so much fun diving into the Age of Sail fandoms and watching Hornblower for the first time and The Terror for a second time this year. Both are brilliant shows and I'm looking forward to another rewatch this year. Then there was the Loki tv series which made me fall in love with Owen Wilson all over again and discover a couple of great films of his I haven't seen yet. And finally, the Six Idiots. It all started with a gif of Thomas Thorne and ended with me watching Ghosts thrice, Yonderland and Bill twice and Horrible History once in the span of three months. I can't even begin to describe how much comfort these shows and the Six Idiots in general have brought me and I'm so, so grateful I took a leap of faith in October and ordered the Ghosts DVDs because of that one single gif.

Music: I will never get over the fact that for one brief moment at the start of 2021, sea shanties were cool and the whole world was singing Wellerman. It's far from my favourite sea shanty but omg did I have fun recording myself singing it and sending it in for The Longest Johns' Wellerman Community Project. I still remember the excitement when the final video was released and everyone was trying to spot themselves among 6500 other people. The Longest Johns are something I've been grateful for since I discovered them in 2018 during what so far was lowest point of my life and I am so, so happy they finally get the success they deserve.

Other: I'm still laughing about the Ever Given Incident even almost a year later. That poor ship getting stuck in the Suez Canal will never not be funny. Another great thing of 2021 was the German Youtube project "7 vs Wild" where seven people try to survive for seven days in Sweden's wilderness with only seven tools. Hands down the most exciting and nerve-wracking thing I watched that year. Then there was MagicCon where I got to meet John Rhys-Davies and Bernard Hill for the first time and also experienced the joy of having Craig Parker as MC again. And finally, one thing that makes me really happy is that the Kakapo of New Zealand are breeding again! With only a little over 200 animals left, every breeding season is good news and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for lots of little Kakapo chicks in 2022.

HSMTMTS REWATCH

So I've finished rewatching HSMTMTS about two days ago and I'll was watching I had the intent to write down my thoughts for each episode. Somethings I only thought about on my rewatch, others I already thought in my first watch through. There is also stuff I didn't even notice at all. So here we're my thoughts starting with episode one.

EPISODE 1 - The Auditions

• I was confused the first time when the movie started, once it did the buffer though I assumed it was Olivia's character watching it.

• Didn't expect it to be Miss. Jenn in her car. How long was she sitting in her car? Or was she just finishing the movie up from before she left?

• Didn't realize that Ricky and Big Red were the ones to almost run over Miss. Jenn at first.

• Please don't make it your lock screen. I get that he's cute and maybe it's just me but I think that would've been more on the cringe side for some reason. Idk how to explain it, maybe it's because I don't see myself doing that.

• Relationship drama already.

• The song is cute, but I think she should've played the song herself for him or at least showed him the video before putting it on Instagram. He looked completely terrified.

• I think Big Red was fine to tell Kourtney to stay out of it. I don't see why she had to snap at him for simply saying that. He wasn't even trying to get involved, he only said something when he thought Nini went to a Librarian camp. He said nothing wrong, and she didn't have to say that she'll start with him.

• Miss. Jenn is just so extra with the shirt cannon

• Ricky mouthing the word millennial went over my head the first time.

• Carlos trying to come in to save her

• Carlos saying, Broadway. But really, why was he still in the gym?

• EJ at least cares about her which is good.

• "Give him the Troy stuff who are we kidding?"

• I loved Seb auditioning for Sharpay

• Ricky running off after admitting he stole the movie from the library. Do high school libraries have movies? None of mine did.

• the parallel between EJ saying I love you and Nini. I get Ricky was scared and wanted some time to figure out his feelings while she was away for the summer. But he could've explained it so much better. Also, his mom was out of town already, and by the sounds of it for quite a bit by then. Jesus Christ no wonder he needed time to figure it out.

• Troy didn't arrive on time to either audition (or at least not the first one)

• Love the flashlight moment

• Love Big Red showing up

• Ricky boy what are you doing? You sound great though

• "She thinks I'm a Chad?"

• You could tell Ricky and Big Red didn't think he'd the part, but was proud (Big Red) and kind of happy about it

• the bleep threw me off during the first watch lol

Do you have a personal motto? "When in doubt, don't." I try to follow it as closely as I can but sometimes the want is bigger than me & I regret it aftrr. Lately also trying to remember "Trust the process."

Last vacation: Mmmm… probably in April 2019. I went to Helsinki to watch Avengers: Endgame in English since it was cancelled in English in Russia.

Next vacation: *nervous laughter of a native Russian* No idea for now. Maybe I'll visit Petergof with my granny in summer. Maybe I'll visit my friend in Volzhskiy (or maybe she'll come to me). All within the country or even near the city, I'm afraid.

Dream vacation: LA. Six Flags. Beach. Warm ocean to swim in (dream on, Natalie.) / Canada / Something tropical. Good food. Buffet maybe. Warm water. Lots of nature (but no spiders.) / Greece with their native food & nature & beaches. <3 / Countryside or some comfortable cottage with a real fireplace, with a forest nearby and a lake you can swim in or just adore while sitting next by a fire, listening to the sounds of nature. The exact cosy atmosphere that inspires you and allows you to write/read a lot of fanfiction.

A short-term goal: Write at least something. Just something that I'm gonna be satisfied with and that will make me feel good. Pick up my frozen HP wip, maybe. Also, draw more and get better at it without it being too frustrating.

A lifetime goal: Have a passive income that will allow me to never ever work in my life. Get healthy. Have my own apartment where I will love every corner design and cosyness wise.

Last show you watched: Sorry for your loss in February (I HAVE to mention this one. It's very underrated. More people need to watch it.) S6 of Peaky Blinders in March-April.

Next on your to watch list: S2 of Russian Doll has just been released & I need to watch it. Moon Knight. This is going to hurt (2022). Maybe See (2019) with Momoa & Camargo, but I didn't like the first couple of episodes so IDK if I'll continue. Thought of rewatching Arcane as well.

Last thing you read:

Books: The Project by Courtney Summers.

Fics: Grim Protector. Wreck my plans, that's my man. Both are Harry/Sirius. Finished both at the same time, both had my heart, highly recommend. Don't remember which was the last one.

Something you're excited to read: Currently reading Sadie by Courtney Summers, quite invested in the story and interested to know how it ends. Would looove to finish Dexter is delicious. Fics wise, I would love the continuation of Grim protector. And I want to reread my own Harry/Sirius wip to maybe write something (the idea gets me SO excited.)

Funniest thing on the internet today: I didn't see much on the internet today. Laughed at this, but cried just as much. Highly recommend their channel—educational and amusing at once. On the less serious and short note, this.

Something you’re struggling with right now: Losing weight. Having a good quality sleep, keep waking up at night, not sleeping, waking up not feeling rested. I keep having nightmares about my parents.

Something hopeful: The summer is coming which means: cheaper veggies and fruits, more sunny days, more walks outside with granny, less clothes I need to put on. Maybe even swimming and meeting a friend. More mature hopefully. This summer is gonna be much better than the previous one which was truly a never-ending nightmare. Also, hopefully, my granny will start sleeping better.
