When the Aburi & Donburi Japanese Restaurant - Aburi-EN first opened in Northpoint City, I brought mum along for dinner. This restaurant serves mainly pork dishes, hence the piggy lanterns though they do have seafood on the menu too.

Since mum is not good at the menu, I consulted her and ordered the Buta Don (S$13.90++) which comes with miso soup and pickled vegetables. Five slices of chargrilled pork loin on Nanatsuboshi rice from Hokkaido. Just from the look of it, the smoky caramelized must have tasted good as mum finished the whole bowl by herself.

My 3 Kinds buta Combo Jyu (S$23++) came with three slices each of premium pork belly, pork loin and Iberico pork jowl over the same Grade A rice. The set is also served with miso soup and pickled vegetables plus I topped up S$1.50++ for an onsen egg. Really enjoyed the various cuts of grilled pork each giving a slightly different texture and flavours.

keeping soup/stew bases on hand is truly the most useful thing for cooking. like, if you have a thing of miso paste and/or a thing of gochujang and/or a can of tomatoes and/or a box of curry roux suddenly your cooking repertoire suddenly expands exponentially. not only can u make soup but u can also suddenly make super easy flavorful marinades. a bunch of sauces. add a little zing to ur carb of choice. instantly make any meal less sad. transform one meal into three so u dont get bored. the possibilities are endless.

#like if u have multiples of these u can do transforming soup week w one batch of broth #day 1 chicken soup w storebought or homemade broth #day 2 add some miso and make pantry miso soup w rice #day 3 throw in some tomatoes and blitz it up for tomato soup #day 4 add some gochujang for a spicy soup #day 5 add curry roux to make curry #miso and gochujang are also delicious in baked goods i love making cookies w em #anyways i love cooking but when its cold out and i dont wanna put in effort my pressure cooker and soup ingredients r king #threw some drumsticks and a gochujang heavy marinade into the pressure cooker w some potatoes and veggies and had a GOOD meal amidst a stor #personal

Chisaki is a fan of the fox. He finds their agility, cunning and sly behaviours interesting. He finds their grace beautiful as they move and hunt.

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

There's two people in the world who Chisaki considers important have very different reasonings. First, we have Boss. His parental figure who took him in from the orphanage when no one else would, he loved and cared for Chisaki. Second, for a completely selfish reason. Eri is extremely important to him. He needs her to complete his goal and rid the world of the quirks that plague it. He does not care much for Eri (unfortunately) however he considers her important.

🍝 SPAGHETTI — what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?

Chisaki used to frequent this restaurant owned by an elderly woman, he liked it because it was quiet and not many people visited. He had a slight feeling of protection over the elderly woman who ran the place purely because she made the best miso soup he's ever had. Plus she never asked questions, he liked that.
