Happy Christmas Eve. We are in the car on the way home. I am really tired but we should be back by 8. There's not many people on the road tonight.
Today was a really good day. Me and James did not sleep well last night. That bed is just a little to narrow and because James can't sleep on their side right now it was a little bit of a struggle. But it wasn't horrible. I just laid half on them. The problems came when I had to roll over. I kept losing my blanket. When James got up they covered me up and I was able to sleep a little longer.
James went to Philly to drop off gifts. And they would go get bagels for everyone for breakfast.
I was going to get washed and dressed when they got back. I had slept weird on my neck and it was very painful all day. But I loved my outfit so much. I didn't know I was going to wear this sweater under my dress but I absolutely love how it looks and I was super cozy all day. I just felt really nice about myself.
And it was a fun day. The bagels were really good. James got a special ginger snap cream cheese. And I enjoyed my breakfast.
We all are together. And would soon start building the Lego project we brought with us. We had lots of chatting and laughing and building. It was a lot of fun. We got about a quarter of it done and we have that to work on next time we are there.
It was a really nice day. It was cold outside but we were cozy inside. Me and James would go outside to take pictures. And that was fun but also very brisk! I was surprised how much the dogs wanted to go out.
Molly, the oldest of the three, lost a pound and she looks great. She seems more comfortable. Gracie was a princess like always. Sophie continues to be a bad girl when the others get attention but on her own is still sweet.
James made me a grilled cheese. And we opened gifts. I love the ring my parents got me. And this neat fabric bowl. James got me a new wallet that I love. It looks like a book, specifically the velveteen rabbit. I'm thrilled. I also got a hair pin and a few pairs of socks. And a very large/long demon cat plushie.
Mom liked her frog plushie and hair clip. Dad liked his car cane. James liked the Pokemon figures and books I got for them. It was a sweet little exchange. I loved that my mom wrapped on big box and that was filled with a bunch of small wrapped gifts. I just like unwrapping things. Though the bows were very difficult to get off. Stupid painful fingers.
We would chill on the couch for a while. A neighbor came over to talk. And my mom would lay down for a bit. Me and James went to the basement to look for a glue gun to fix my lipgloss that split and I got to show them a bunch of toys and art and things from my youth. It was just really a lovely day.
We made dinner for 4. Mac and cheese. Crab cakes. Stuffing. My special mashed potatoes. It was very Carby but really really good.
I honestly just had a lovely day. I'm a little sad my brother wasn't there. But I understand. And I love him very much. Things change when you get older. I understand. We didn't go out for dinner this year. And we didn't have a live nativity. And that is okay. We did get a little snow and we got to be together and I loved that.
After dinner we did some family pictures. I used dad's new prosthetic leg as a tripod to hold my phone. We used a poinsettia to hide his leg. And I think it was very sweet. The whole day. I felt warm inside. Very loved. It was a good Christmas Eve.
And then it was time to go home. James packed up the car. Hugs all around. And we are on our way home.
If I could have anything I would have a peppermint milkshake. But I care more about getting home then stopping for a snack. Plus I don't like going to businesses on holidays. I try to avoid it if possible. Maybe when we go home I'll have a snack. Maybe I'll just unpack and get myself ready for tomorrow.
Tomorrow the Fulwilers are coming to our apartment for presents and breakfast. And then we will get together with the Changs' to go to the Fulwilers for dinner. I think that is the best way. I hope it's just a lovely day. I am looking forward to giving gifts.
I hope you all sleep well tonight. Take care of each other. Try to stay warm. Goodnight my friends. Until next time.

Depth Over Distance - Part Eleven  [Rudy x Reader]
Tumblr media
[A/N: Welcome back. Short chapter to get me back into it. Sorry I was away so long, I needed to find myself again. Took longer than expected but that’s life. Its not always sunshine and roses, sometimes its cloudy skies and roots that trip you up. As long as you have the courage to carry on and the hope that tomorrow will be better, then you’re already doing more than you did yesterday. Be calm, be kind, be safe...Mossy x]
You woke up slowly, without opening your eyes, and listened to the rhythmic sound of Rudy’s breathing beside you. You were laying somewhere soft - the couch maybe - and the air was warm and smelled of burning cedar and cologne. You felt your chest tighten and the urgent need to inhale, to circulate oxygen to your limbs, to stretch. You started with your toes, feet, then your legs, and inhaled deeply into a yawn as you moved your arms out from under a blanket.
“Hey” You heard Rudy’s voice, low and gravelly, itching with concern. You felt his hand float around your hair, softly brushing the top of your head. The corner of your mouth twitched as you started to open your eyes, the soft glow of the fire casting shadows around the room, Rudy’s wild hair and broad shoulders silhouetted in front of you.
“Hey, Y/N, slow down” A firm hand pressed into your shoulder as you tried to sit forward. Gently coaxing you back, he brought a glass of water to your lips and helped you sip until you had cleared the dry lump in your throat. Licking your lips, you felt the words form in your mouth.
“I’m still mad at you”
Rudy laughed, deep and sharp, his head dropping between his shoulder blades, before his gaze found yours. You saw candles reflected in his eyes which were wet with tears, his brow furrowed and his mouth tight. The afternoon sun shone through the window and you could hear the light patter of rain on the roof.
“You gotta stop scaring me like that” He said quietly, his hand still brushing your hair lightly away from your face.
“You gotta start telling the truth” You rebutted without missing a beat. “The whole truth” you added when his face eluded to a forthcoming retort.
He pursed his lips and nodded in resignation once before leaning forward and standing up, walking past you into the kitchen.
You moved your head around slowly, stretching your neck and wincing whenever your forehead pulled at the cut. The fire was crackling gently and the embers danced around and up into the chimney, sparking and caressing the darkness. You relaxed into the couch again, thinking back to the conversation you had had with Rudy before you collapsed. The fog set in again, the dark nagging in the pit of your stomach. You heard his words repeating in your head like a broken record; its not mine, its not mine, its not mine. Your stomach turned; you were going to be sick.
You stood as quickly as you could, tossing the blanket to the side, and scrambled towards the bathroom clutching your stomach. You barely made it to the doorway before you began to retch into the sink. Rudy called your name once from the kitchen before you heard him outside the bathroom. You kicked the door shut and held it closed with your leg, gripping either side of the sink with sweaty palms.
“Go away” you called between gasps, spitting saliva into the sink. You grabbed the jug of water from below the sink once you were sure the wave had passed and rinsed the basin out. It took a few moments before you could look at yourself in the mirror and wipe your mouth clean, you were so tired.
A gentle knock at the door reminded you Rudy was outside. You swallowed once more before taking a deep breath and turning the handle, pulling the door slowly open. Rudy took a step back and let you walk out, waiting patiently for you to gather yourself.
“I’m fine. Sorry” You said quietly, unmoving. He swallowed once and looked at the bathroom, then back to you.
“I think we need to go back to the hospital.” He was more telling than asking.
“I’m fine. Its just....its been a lot.” You motioned around you at the last 72 hours in general. “I just need...some time to recover.”
“Y/N...” He started, but you put your hands up in protest.
“Rudy. Listen to me for once, I’m not dying. I’ve had a concussion before. I know what to expect.”
He pursed his lips and set his jaw, looking over your head and taking a breath before looking back at you.
“You feeling up for a walk then? I think we could both use the air.”
You nodded slowly and let your breath out before motioning towards the bedroom where your clothes still laid in a pile on the floor. Slipping your wool socks on and pulling a sweater gingerly over your head, you felt yourself let out a small laugh at how bizarre this whole week had been since Rudy showed up. You didn’t know if your life would ever be the same. In some ways you hoped it wouldn’t be, but you needed some sense of normality back.
When you stepped out onto the porch to slip your boots on you noticed that there was a fresh stack of firewood piled in the box under the window, and the axe was stuck into the flesh of the chopping block. You inhaled deeply, revelling at the smell of the wet earth and the steam rising from the mossy ground below you and the fresh cut cedar. Behind you Rudy clicked the door closed and zipped up his vest, his muscular arms covered by a tight base layer.
“Creek?” He asked quietly, you nodded and followed him down the stairs towards the trail that lined the creek bed and wound towards a break in the forest.
You both remained silent for a few moments before the moisture in the air lifted something from your chest and tickled your throat. You coughed once, your eyes pinching shut from the throbbing pain in your head at the onset of pressure. Rudys hand found yours and squeezed it tightly.
“So” You said after clearing your throat. “Are you gonna tell me the whole story now or do I have to wait another 3 days and get in another accident?”
You smiled as you said it, coyly, but Rudy struggled to do anything but cringe.
“What story, exactly?”
“At the party, your welcome home party, when we were standing in the parking lot by the fence. I asked you to tell me about Anna, and you said very distinctly ‘she’s just my manager, that’s it’. And I told you we would talk about it another time, and that you were a terrible liar.”
Rudy scoffed in recognition and smiled quietly, looking at the tree cover. “I remember”
“Well, now is that time.”
His strong shoulders stiffened a little and he walked with more vigour than he had before. You struggled to keep pace with him, catching your toe on roots and debris every few steps and swinging your arms to quicken yourself.
“I wasn’t happy. I’ll premise all of this by saying that.” He started, his voice tight. “I was working, I had a steady income, I was doing exactly what I set out to do....but” he shook his head lightly, his hair swaying in your peripherals. “...it didn’t matter because no matter how much I worked or how hard I partied or how much money I made, I had a void I couldn’t fill.”
You looked over at him and noticed that his pace was quickening again, now you were half jogging to stay beside him.
“I was lonely and nobody noticed, or cared.” He paused, his face flushed. “Anna did.”
You stayed quiet, observing his face, trying to keep your breathing from becoming panting, but you were starting to get dizzy.
“She was a temporary distraction. A way to pass the time. It sounds awful, but...shit, sorry” He put his arm out to slow you and calmed down from the aggressive speed he was ambling down the path. “Sorry.”
You shook your head and caught your breath, holding on to his arm as a wave of dizziness passed. When you nodded and started walking again he matched your pace, slightly behind you.
“Anyways, yeah. I knew it wasn’t serious, I was in it for the wrong reasons. We kept everything quiet, just went on a few dates and made them look like meetings....it was fun for 5 minutes. When I started to notice she was taking it seriously I backed off. Or tried to. It was messy and she started to threaten me, said she would tell everyone that I took advantage of her and that it was non-consensual, which of course was total bullshit but she was smart and she knew how to talk to people and she wouldn’t have had any problem ruining my career, my life. So I left.”
You took stock of what he had said and waited a few moments before speaking. The creek was loud beside you now, the water smooth over twigs and rocks, bubbling in the back-eddy’s, crashing over the shoreline. You heard a bird overhead and listened to the sound of thunder off in the distance. The sky was grey but the storm would pass around you, you knew these skies well.
“Rudy I am so, so sorry.” Your voice cracked as you spoke, turning to fully face him. “This is....”
“...a mess” He finished for you, nodding and looking around, his arms crossed and his muscles causing the fabric to stretch. You wanted to hug him, hit her, and burn the whole damn city of LA to the ground for the shit storm he found himself in.
“What did she say to your dad?”
“She lied, naturally. Tried to tell them that the kid was mine and that she would take me to court if I didn’t pay child support.” His face was reddening and his jawline flexed. You felt dizzy again, but focussed on deep breathing. “She’s trying to refuse a paternity test.”
Your gut twisted and you reached out to touch Rudy's arm, but he flinched and turned away. Confused, you withdrew your arm and waited.
"Sorry." He muttered, pinching his eyes shut and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Im sorry. Come here"
He pulled you into a hug and rested his chin on top of your head.
"I just don't feel good about any of this. I dragged you into my shit and look what happened."
"Don't do that" you started, trying to pull away. The scent of Rudy mixed with the smell of the trees and wet earth was heady and intoxicating. He squeezed you tighter.
"Its the truth. I thought I could run away from this and I can't. It followed me here, to you. And i'm sorry for that."
"Im not." You said finally, pushing back far enough so you could see his face. “I’m not at all. I’m happy you came home.” The word ‘home’ sat heavily between you, littering the air with connotation. “You shouldn’t have to go through this alone.”
He frowned, unwillingly to accept your offer of companionship, still stuck in the deeply rooted feeling he had hurt you.
“Look at me” You said sternly, your voice sharp. He looked briefly, then looked away, so you lifted your hand to his face and forced his gaze back to you. “You’re not going through this alone. I notice, I care, and...I mean assuming you’re not going to get in your truck and leave me here to become bear bait....Im not letting you go through this by yourself. I will...I don’t know...politely ask her to pound sand and eat a dick if you need me to....or-”
“HA” He barked a laugh suddenly before grabbing your hand from his cheek and bringing it to his chest. “You’re ridiculous. But thank you.” He said genuinely. “Seriously.”
You stood in a contented silence for a few moments before he spoke again.
“Lets head back. I want to have a fire tonight.” He smiled, grabbing your hand.
“I saw.” You cooed before squeezing his hand back, falling in beside him.
The air was cooling and the sun was low, setting below the tree line. The air felt cleaner, clearer, easier to breathe. You walked in silence, both of you equally enjoying the peace that you found in the old growth forest. The soft packed earth below your feet like a wet sponge, the trees strongly shading you from the moisture packed clouds above. Something settled in you, set in your chest, calmed you. You felt happy.

but we were something, don't you think so?
vaguely based on ‘the one’ by taylor swift and also my walk home on an afternoon in july last year
also i asked helen if my writing lashton card gets revoked if i write something sad. will report back on what she decides.
(i apologize now for the tense issues in this i am still Learning how to not do that but i think it’s pretty obvious what takes place in the present and what does not)
oh and here is the ao3 link !
It’s a blazing hot early afternoon in July when Luke sees Ashton for the first time in over a year.
(It’s been 13 months and 12 days since he last saw Ashton. It was on a cooler day in early May and he had been wearing the blue sweater. The one that made the green in his eyes stand out more than normal. But Luke likes to pretend he doesn’t keep track of that so consistently.)
It had been a good morning. Luke opened at the office that day so he had the privilege of making the first pot of coffee, getting to experience the rich smell filling the space while he responded to emails and voicemails. He had a brief chat with his favorite mail delivery person about their plans for the weekend and the renovations happening in the bathroom down the hall. His boss assigned him a list of names to call to discuss their fall registration complications. The time passed quickly with the phone chatter and two cups of coffee out of his favorite mug.
His replacement for the afternoon shift showed up on time for once and he shouted his goodbyes out as he left the office. He was eager to get back to the apartment he shared with Calum so they could head to the store and grab drinks and snacks for the concert in the park they had decided to attend that night. Last time they had gone to the event just the three of them, he had let Michael and Calum do the drink run and they ended up deciding that Jello shots were to be the drink of choice and all of the families attending gave them disappointed looks the whole night.
Luke walks through campus, his t shirt sticking to him a bit in the heat, and catches up on the texts he had missed from his mom and brothers. He takes a moment to appreciate the serenity of his university campus when it’s all empty in the summer, the only other people around being the occasional professor or a local family taking a walk with sunhats and a stroller.
He’s just gotten a text from Calum asking when he’ll be back at their apartment and Luke is responding with an estimated time of arrival, factoring in the time it should take for him to grab an iced coffee on the way, when he looks up once he reaches the street corner. He’s only meaning to check for cars and to see how many seconds are left before he can cross when he sees him.
Luke didn’t expect the way his heart would drop straight into his stomach when he saw Ashton again. Didn’t expect the way the message on his phone (one important to respond to unless he wants to get plastered off of vodka and Jello in public again) would be completely dismissed when he saw the black curls of the man who had made him feel like everything. The way his fingers felt like they were on fire.
He also never expected Ashton to lock eyes with him the first time they saw each other again.
But oddly enough, he is.
Two things flood into Luke’s mind then. The first is that Ashton doesn’t look bad. He’s got his hands shoved into black jeans that aren’t at all appropriate for the current weather. His hair is longer than he had kept it in quite some time, tied back into a tiny bun that rests just above the tattoo at his neck that he had gotten junior year (Luke still remembers his hand being sore for a couple of days because of how tightly Ashton had gripped it while the gun buzzed along his tanned skin). And his calm gaze holds Luke’s in a way that he had only just recently stopped craving four times a day at least.
The second thing that comes to mind is a day from two years earlier, probably almost exactly two years (if it wouldn’t nearly physically pain him to see their happy, drunken smiles from that day, Luke would have thought later to look through his camera roll to check if he was right).
*
Ashton had only officially asked Luke to be his boyfriend about a month prior, just after finals ended. It was the summer after Luke’s freshman year, the summer he started working his campus office job that allowed him a reason to stay in the city with his friends and his boyfriend. One of Calum’s older sister’s friends needed to rent out her room for the summer and Luke’s advisor had offered him the job. It was a perfect storm.
After work one day in June, Luke headed back toward the student apartments to Ashton’s building, his smile lazy but bright as he headed into a weekend and his boyfriend’s home. It was still very new, his relationship with Ashton, but it felt very big, very important. If he wasn’t so high on his love for the curly haired philosophy major and the feeling of being in the city in the summer, he might have taken the time to think a bit more critically about what it meant to dive in so deep with someone so fast. But then he felt a breeze in the air and the sun shining on his face, and he figured that was something to worry about on another day. Things were really good.
He punches the door code at the front of the building and climbs the stairs two at a time up two floors. When he turns out of the stairwell, he grasps the handle to the first door on the right, left unlocked since he was expected that afternoon.
“Honey, I’m home?” he calls out as he pulls at the laces on his Converse so he can leave them at the shoe rack before continuing into the cozy space. The coziness of the place felt a little odd for June, a candle that smelled like Christmas burning somewhere based on the mix of the smell of sugar cookies and pine that meets Luke’s nose as he hangs his backpack on his designated hook. But that was Ashton, always curating his spaces to feel what he wanted. During one of the first few times they had hung out the previous January, Ashton had insisted on popsicles. It was one of the things Luke felt himself already loving about him.
Luke frowns at the lack of response to his greeting and makes his way down the hall to the kitchen, his sock-covered feet sliding a bit on the wood floor. He turns into the kitchen and finds that the cookie smell had been due not to a candle but real life cookies that were cooling on a rack on the counter behind a headphone-clad Ashton. Luke laughs quietly to himself, wondering what the occasion was as he continues through the space and checks to make sure there’s nothing hot or sharp in his boyfriend’s hands before wrapping his arms around his waist. He lets his hands clasp together at his stomach and huffs out a giggle when he feels him jump with surprise.
Ashton uses his free hand not holding a spatula to pull his headphones off his head, hanging them from one of the cabinet handles. He leaves the utensil in the bowl and turns in Luke’s arms to face him, his arms wrapping around the blonde’s neck. “Hey you,” he beams, his arms tightening some to pull Luke closer to brush their lips together in greeting. Luke notes to himself that he must have been sampling his cookie dough from the sugar against his own lips now. “Didn’t hear you come in.”
“Seems like you were busy,” Luke smiles, moving one of his hands from Ashton’s back to gesture to the kitchen.
Ashton lights up, his dimples deepening as he smiles. “Oh, yeah! Wanted snacks for the show tonight.”
A confused look drops to Luke’s face. “Didn’t remember that we bought tickets for something tonight? Where is it at?”
“We don’t have tickets for anything. There’s this free concert series at the park that I thought would make a wonderful Friday night date night and I am determined to continue wooing you. So I bought pink wine and I’m making cookies.”
Luke releases his arms from his waist then, moving to the side to dip his finger into the cookie dough to taste it. “Consider me wooed. That sounds lovely.”
He’s ushered out of the space to sit at the counter then so Ashton can continue working. He’s given a glass of lemonade and tells Ashton all about his day, about the students who came into the office for help with registration things and the dogs that he saw on his walk to campus. Luke gets Ashton to talk some about what they’re going to and it’s apparently Ashton’s favorite part of the summer. He goes into a story about a sweet dog and baby he got to meet when sharing a beer with some dad at one of the shows the previous summer.
“It’s funny because last summer it was my favorite thing to do with just me,” Ashton starts as he packs the cookies into plastic bags to put in a tote with the wine that he’s already poured into plastic bottles (glass wasn’t allowed at the park). “But I got the email about the set for tonight and I don’t know, I think it could be nice if this becomes our thing in the summer, you know?”
He turns up to look for a response from Luke and is met with the likely hilariously bright blush that Luke feels creeping up to paint across his cheeks and nose. He giggles to himself and raises his brows at the blonde as he packs some strawberries and cherries away to take with them as well. “I’ll take that as a good response to the idea then?”
Luke bites at his lip as he smiles. “That sounds incredible.”
They take the bus to the park. The sky is just dipping into golden hour as they dance their way to where the other attendees have their blankets set up for the evening. Luke makes Ashton stop his skipping for just a moment, claiming he needs him to stand still and smile for a lock screen picture, please. They find a good spot next to a group of women who brought their dogs and boxed wine and immediately start telling them how cute of a couple they are. Luke blushes fiercely as Ashton kisses his cheek, resulting in a chorus of squeals from their neighbors. They introduce themselves and the dogs and it’s really all something out of a film, Luke thinks.
They chat about work and summer courses some more and exchange stories from their younger years they have yet to share while sipping wine from plastic cups. Ashton lets Luke feed him cookies and they listen to the women tell stories from their many years of coming to the shows there. Luke sits between Ashton’s legs as they listen, gentle and thankful smiles on their faces, and Ashton reaches for one Luke’s hands, weaving their fingers together and resting them against Luke’s lap.
The sun sets further and the music starts. They thank their new friends for the stories and smile respectfully, blushes on both of their faces hidden in the twilight when the women request invitations to their wedding. Ashton is stunned silent (a rare occurrence, really) so Luke makes sure to tell them he’ll add them to the guest list.
It’s during the main set that Luke realizes he wants to live in this night for the rest of his life maybe. His back is against the chest of the first boy he’s ever loved, his body rising and falling just slightly with Ashton’s breathing and singing and laughter. The hazel eyed boy has one arm wrapped securely around Luke’s waist while the other lifts the water bottle of rose to his lips every so often. Luke finds that he feels so safe in that moment, like because of this night, nothing in the world could ever hurt him because he feels so high up in the air. He feels Ashton tilt his head some to place his lips against Luke’s neck, and he just never wants this to end.
Eventually it does though, of course. They fold up their blanket, smiles on their faces after the band closed with a cover of one of their favorite songs. Goodbyes and promises to meet up at the next show are made as their new friends wander off. Luke jokes that he’ll have to tell his mom about how easily the pair of them are able to make company with women like her friends. On the bus back to the apartment complex, Ashton sleepily leans against Luke and the blonde cards his fingers through his hair, smiling at the bright, fruity scent of Ashton’s cologne he keeps catching a whiff of.
They stumble into the apartment, slightly tipsy off the wine and each other, only pausing to brush their teeth and change into something more comfortable to sleep in before falling into Ashton’s bed. They face each other and Luke kisses at Ashton’s laughter lines as their legs tangle together.
“God,” Ashton bites his lip against a smile as he lifts a hand to cup Luke’s cheek, his thumb stroking across his cheekbone. “I have no idea what good I did to deserve you.”
“Glad we’re on the same page,” Luke sighs as he leans into the warm hand on his cheek. “I think I might love you. Is that okay?”
Before responding, Ashton lifts his chin slightly to press his lips to Luke’s forehead. They breathe in unison for a moment before he moves to look Luke in the eye. “Only if it’s okay that I might love you.”
Sleep finds them quickly after their (almost, maybe) confessions.
*
The memory fades out like a fog when Ashton’s eyes pull away from Luke’s when the signal changes for Ashton to cross the street taking him in the opposite direction. Luke finds himself unable to tell if he wants the black-haired boy to turn back to face him or not. He’s not sure which action would break his heart apart more. As he watches him walk into the crosswalk, he feels another memory, this one quite the opposite feeling to the first, start to creep into the edges of his brain but he finds himself able to push that one down (thankfully).
He takes a deep breath as he watches Ashton continue down the street, not once looking back to see if Luke is still looking at him. And when his own walk sign lights up, it takes Luke just a moment to get his feet to start moving again as one single thought fills his mind so many times it feels like it’s blocking his vision.
If one thing happened different, would everything be different today?
He crosses the street then and continues down in that direction, deciding to take just a slightly longer route so his feet don’t have to take any of the same path as his ex-lover. He sighs then but as he feels a somewhat nostalgic summer breeze cool his face, Luke pulls his phone out to text the group message to ask if they want to help him make sugar cookies to take along with them to the park.
(That night, for just a moment, he swears he sees Ashton again a few picnic blankets away, his head tucked into the neck of another boy with curly hair. But then the boy sits up to laugh at something the other has said and Luke realizes it isn’t his past love. But the odd sense of hopefulness he had felt for the couple when he thought it was Ashton tells him that maybe one day he’ll really feel okay.)

Outside the mansion, thunderclouds covered the city of Seoul. Inside we sat huddled around the fireplace while we cuddled and talked.
"Mommy, will you tell us about when you adopted us again please?" My black cat hybrid boy Taehyung asked as he sat on my lap, arms wrapped around my neck.
"Tae Tae, I told you two that story yesterday!" I said with a sigh, giving him a light squeeze with my left arm.
"But Mama, we love hearing you tell it." My calico hybrid boy Jimin argued, arms tightly rapped around my waist as he sat at my right side.
"Alright fine." I gave in, giving them both head scratches as I went back in my memories.
"About three years ago, a few months after my dad passed away, I was getting pretty lonely, so I decided to go out and get myself something, or someone to help me feel less lonely. I called a friend of mine who suggested I go to the hybrid shelter and look around. And so that's what I did! Once I had started walking around I saw a small room with two kitty boys inside, one with jet black ears," I paused to scratch behind Tae's ears. "and the other with white, brown, and black ears!" I paused again to scratch behind Jimin's ears. "As soon as I saw you two, I knew you were the ones I was meant to have. So I signed the papers, paid a couple thousand dollars, picked out your collars and pendants, bought some clothes, and brought you two home with me." I finished, planting a kiss on each of their foreheads. They both began to purr at the affection they received.
Suddenly we heard a weird noise coming from the front door.
"Mama? What was t-that?" Jimin asked, grip around my waist tightening.
"Well it wasn't thunder or lightning. I'm gonna go check it out. Stay here you two." I said, releasing myself from Jimin's tight grip, lifting Taehyung off my lap, and placing him next to Jimin. They both nodded before clutching to each other.
I walked over to the door and looked through the little window. There didn't seem to be anything there but I opened the door anyway and saw a thin man curled up on the doorstep, wearing only a pair of boxers.
"Oh my gosh!" I gasped, kneeling down and lifting his face, seeing his eyes were barely open.
I saw long tan rabbit ears sticking from his wet brown hair. I quickly scooped him into my arms and brought him inside, kicking the door close in the process. The kitchen was the closest so I laid him across the breakfast stools.
"JIMIN! TAEHYUNG! COME HERE!" I yelled, feeling his forehead and instantly feeling how cold it was. The boys quickly ran in with their toy lightsabers looking as if they were about to try and beat the crap outta someone.
"Boys, no, it's ok." I said gesturing for them to come over to where the bunny boy was. When they saw him their jaws dropped.
"Is he dead?" Tae asked, looking at me with a horrified expression.
"No, but we need to help him. Jimin, I need you to go and get me four or five towels from the dryer. Tae, you go get me your warmest and thickest sweater and jammie bottoms." They both nodded and ran off.
I then scooped up the boy again and took him into the living room, squatting down and holding him by the fireplace.
"Why- are y-you helping m-me?" He stuttered out, shivering in my arms.
"Because you need it. I couldn't just leave you there." I said as Jimin ran in.
"I have the towels, Mama." He said holding them out.
"Good boy! Ok lay one out on my chair for me, Baby." I said, standing back up again. He nodded and quickly set one to cover the seat and back of my chair before I sat the hybrid boy down. Jimin and I then dried him off.
"Mommy! I have some clothes for him!" Tae shouted as he ran into the room.
"Thank you, Tae Tae! Hand me a sweater please?" I asked holding out my hand and quickly receiving a nice warm one.
"Can you lift your arms, Sweetie?" I asked the boy, lifting his face up to look at me. He just shook his head, avoiding eye contact.
"Hey it's ok! Jimin, will you lift his arms while I get the sweater on him?" I asked, looking over at my little calico boy.
Jimin quickly smiled and softly grabbed the boys small wrists, lifting them slowly until they were above his head. I worked the boy's hands through the long sleeves of the sweater, pulling it down his thin arms, and then down his bony torso.
"You probably can't stand, can you?" I asked, receiving a small shake of his head.
"Ok. How about I pull the pants over your legs and then I'll lift you up enough so Taehyung and Jimin can pull them up the rest of the way? Would that be ok?" I asked the bunny who gave me a little nod.
I took the fluffy pants from Tae and slid the thin boy's legs through them. I then lifted him up while Tae and Jimin pulled them up the rest of the way. I then took some socks from Tae and put them on the boy's feet.
"There! All dressed!" I exclaimed, catching the small smile that took over the boy's lips for a second.
"So Sweetie, do you have a name?" I asked, seeing his smile fade. "Sh-she always j-just called m-me Guk cause sh-she d-didn't like m-my real n-name." He stuttered out, lowering his head.
"Who's 'she', Sweetie?" I asked, resting my hands on top of his. "M-my old o-owner." He said, jaw still quivering from being cold.
"Well what's your real name?" I asked, lifting his head up.
"Jungkook." He said, eyes locking with mine.
"Do you like your name?" I asked, earning a nod from him.
"Ok! Then I'll call you Jungkook! Kookie for short! Does that sound good?" I asked, watching his ears prop up, a small smile coming on his face, showing big bunny teeth.
"Awe! What a cutie!" I exclaimed, scratching behind his ears causing the smile to grow.
"Mama! We should feed him! He's so thin!" Jimin shouted, causing both me and Jungkook to flinch.
"Ok Minnie! How about you and Tae go look for some veggies?" I asked, causing both kitties' eyes to light up with mischief.
"I bet I can get more veggies for Kookie than you can!" Tae boasted, puffing out his chest.
"It's a bet! Winner gets to cuddle Mama's front tonight!" Jimin exclaimed, getting excited at the thought.
"Deal!" Tae agreed, running into the kitchen with Jimin right on his tail (literally).
"DON'T DESTROY MY KITCHEN YOU TWO!" I called out to them. They returned about five minutes later, arms filled with probably every vegetable we had in the house.
"Mommy, who has more?" Tae asked, dropping a stick of celery and trying his hardest to pick it up with his tail.
"I think you do, TaeTae." I said smiling at the two, watching Jimin pout and Tae carefully dance around in victory.
"C-can I eat n-now?" Jungkook asked as his stomach growled.
"Right right!" Tae said as he ran over, Jimin following slowly behind still pouting.
After Jungkook ate as much as he could, Tae and Jimin took the remaining vegetables back to the kitchen.
"Alright boys, it's 11 so how about we get ready for bed?" I asked, standing from my place on the couch.
"Ok Mommy!" Tae said, trying to get Jimin to stand up as well.
"Alright, who's gonna help me get bottles ready?" I asked, smiling at Tae trying to force Jimin to his feet.
"I will Mommy!" Tae said, finally succeeding in getting Jimin off the couch.
"Oh Kookie, do you want a bottle?" I asked, looking over to the small bunny boy.
"A bottle? Aren't I too old?" Jungkook asked, stutter gone after warming up.
"Well these two have them because they help when falling asleep. You don't have to have one-"
"No no I want one! I-I mean, please may I have one?" He asked, looking down at his hands.
"Sure Kookie!" I said with a chuckle, scratching behind his ears.
"Ok so Tae will help with bottles, Minnie you need to get into your PJs, and Kookie will you be ok here by yourself for a few minutes?" I asked, earning a small nod.
Tae then proceeded to drag me into the kitchen.
"Ok, TaeTae I need you to grab three bottles out of the cabinet." I said, searching for the adult formula.
"Ok Mommy!" He said, sliding around on his socks trying to find the bottles.
"TAE!" I yelled, catching his attention. "The one by the fridge." I said, pointing to the right cabinet.
"Right!" He said, walking over and opening the cabinet.
"Which bottle should I grab for Kookie, Mommy?" He asked, staring into the cabinet with his head tilted.
"How about a pink one?" I asked, earning a big smile and eager nod from him.
After he had decided on the bottle colors, he lined them up for me to fill. Once they were filled we shook them up to mix the formula and water.
"Will you put these in the microwave, TaeTae?" I asked after shaking up the last bottle.
He smiled before carefully grabbing each one and walking over to the microwave.
"Do you remember how long to put them in for?" I asked, watching him carefully walk with his slippery socks on.
"Yes Mommy!" He insisted, reaching the microwave.
After a couple of minutes the bottles were done heating up so we walked back to the living room, Tae holding his and Jimin's bottles and me holding Jungkook's.
"Here you go, Kookie!" I said, handing him the pink bottle.
"Thank you!" He said with a smile.
"Jimin I have your bottle!" Tae called which resulted in the smaller kitty to come running in at full speed, taking one of the bottles from Tae, and holding it tightly against his chest.
"Kookie, do you want me to carry you to bed?" I asked, smiling at the little bunny.
"Don't I just sleep here? She always had me sleep by the fireplace." He said, letting out a sigh as he held the bottle to his mouth.
"No Kookie, you can sleep in our bed and we can all cuddle! Do you like cuddling?" I asked, squatting down in front of him and holding his hand.
"Y-yeah..." He trailed off, avoiding eye contact.
"Then would you like to cuddle with us?" I asked, giving his hand a squeeze.
A small smile and little nod was all I needed.
I slipped one arm under his back and the other under his knees, slowly lifting him up and walking towards our room.
"Come on kitties!" I called, quickly hearing them run up behind me.
"Remember Mommy! I get to cuddle your front tonight!" Tae reminded me.
"I know Baby!" I said with a laugh, laying Kookie down in bed.
"Ok so tonight how about I sleep on my back, Kookie and Minnie can cuddle on my sides, and TaeTae can sleep on top of me?" I asked, receiving a nod from all three.
I then climbed into bed, pulling Jungkook into my left side and Jimin into my right.
"Ok TaeTae, come here." I said, watching as he quickly climbed up and lay down, resting his head on my chest.
"All comfy boys?" I asked, once again receiving nods.
"Ok, goodnight boys!" I said yawning.
"Goodnight Mommy!"
"Goodnight Mama!"
"Goodnight!"

Anyways happy Friday katy!!💛 I hope you're doing well, and if you're not im sending you all the positive energy to get you through
I hope this week has brought you some goods and positive things, because you're amazing and deserve to smile🥰🥰
Originally I was trying to type hi, but ho came up so I went with it🤡🎅🤶
ho ho ho right back to you meg!🎅
Happy Friday! I went christmas shopping today and found Candy Canes!! (They were nowhere last year, I'm guessing because of the pandemic so they weren't shipped here? so I'm happy because now i can make peppermint hot chocolate with them!) I also bought a really cute christmas sweater vest (a huge XL men's one for £4 that's basically like a dress on me but looks adorable tucked in or with a thick black belt)
of course i also got a couple of things for people and ideas for others (though i am still soooo stuck on what to get my dad, why can't he be like stereotypical dads and, like, like beer or something ahaha, and my little sister is proving difficult because she's still 5 to me but in reality she's 15... (my step-mum is getting fluffy socks and a candle from poundland (we don't like her))) I think I'm mostly done with my mum, brother and his girlfriend too.
so it's been a good end of the week, even if it started off completly shit (migraines plus anxiety is not a good mix!)
I hope you've had a good week!
oh, and I'm about to watch Tick Tick Boom while eating my dinner!! yay!
