Sliced open my hand on another Hollinger box, but this time it was right across the palm (usually it's the thumbs) and now I look like I've been making cool blood pacts like an anime or fantasy protagonist, and not just a goofy archivist

#‘lightly seared’ my fingers on this 100+ degrees hotplate earlier and just. o w. #it didn’t leave any marks but my fingertips still sting a little. #thank goodness im a thumb player for mobile rhythm games. else i’d have to play on hard difficulty (priorities) #overall a 0/10 experience. the initial pain is about the same as that of an acid burn but the pain lingers more than the acid burn does… #actually wait this is worse than an acid burn. both don’t leave long-lasting marks or scars or anything but. hm. #the initial marks from acid burns last for about 3-5 days so… hmmmm. #hope my fingers will uncook themselves soon though. the pain’s getting kinda annoying.

I have my drivers test coming up, which I want to be very focused for with minimal distractions.

So, of course, today I managed to get sunburned all over and stung by a wasp

I didn’t. #and the wasp sting is like #RIGHT where the steering wheel would rest. just a little lower than where my pointer meets my thumb. right hand. outer side #I was drinking strawberry lemonade and keeping the can covered with a hand between sips to prevent wasps from getting In The Can #and I was listening to tunes and very distracted #and I feel something on my hand #and pure autopilot takes over. I pinch it gently and entirely subconsciously between my thumb and finger and fling it #it happens so fast I am able to convince myself I didn’t actually feel anything #and I wasn’t looking at the can so I was like. yeah just my brain playing tricks :) #but then my hand starts hurting #and I’m like :) well I’m sure this is just psychological. nothing happened :) #but the pain keeps getting worse and the skin turns red and white and puckers up and I am forced to acknowledge: yeah I got wasped #tbh the sunburn is worse #my fucking ear #my arm #I got got in other areas too but those are the worst atm #drivers test in three days ✌️✌️

Took a walk out in the -10F (around -30F with windchill) and got so many whumpy ideas... frostbite and hypothermia my beloved.

#i can't recommend doing the same in good conscience #especially since lots of folks aren't used to this kind of cold #I have a lot of very expensive cold weather gear and live up north where this is normal #but I took my hand out of my glove for about 45 seconds to take some photos #and couldn't feel my fingers for about 30 minutes afterwards #the cold air burns your lungs and stings your skin #warming back up is like your body has been lit on fire #snow starts to squeak in this distinct way that's almost like styrofoam #everything is brighter and clearer #it's beautiful and terrifying and can be so painful #even pulling my face out of my scarf the first time just hurt! that first gasp of unfiltered air... phew #now imagine whumpee out there for a few minutes... or longer... permanent damage almost guaranteed #warming back up is an agony all of its own... but that's what whumpee wanted isn't it? #wah I'm so rambly rn
