Chasing Waterfalls
In “The Princess Diaries”, when Joseph immediately realises, that Mia is going to bail out, I somehow thought: What if it had happened before?
“She’s going to run.“, he exclaimed and walked right out of the room, leaving a confused Charlotte in his wake. “Just like Clarisse. So much like her grandmother.“, Joseph thought, taking an umbrella and one of his men, while making his way to the car. He took the front passenger seat, watching the steady downpour, and the memories of a time long dead revived vividly in his mind.
Clarisse and Joseph had been childhood sweethearts, but when Rupert Renaldi had come into theirs lives, she had been promised to marry the Crown-Prince of her country, rather than a cobbler’s son. In the early morning of their wedding day, however, she had tried to flee, telling different people she would arrive at the palace with someone else.
Joseph, had been not the one detecting it, back then, he had been the one she came to to help her escape...
***
It was early in the morning, not quite dawn yet, when the seventeen year-old Joe heard a knock on his window. Through the glass, he saw Clarisse, perched on the awning.
“A Queen does not climb trees.“, he told her, opening the window, and motioned for her to get out of the cold morning air.
The young woman leaped gracefully onto his bedroom floor and he could see the poise of the Queen she was going to be.
The next moment however, she was in his arms, shivering slightly and he placed his hand very gently on her back, while she buried her nose in his neck.
“I don’t want to be Queen.“, the eighteen year-old girl said in a muffled voice.
Joseph exhaled deeply, supressing the shiver her breath send over his skin.
“You are going to be a wonderul Queen, my darling. Beeing able to affect change in our country, isn't that ...“, he paused, trying not to speak his immediate thoughts out loud.
“You are everything Genovia could ask for in their Queen.“, he finally settled on.
His hand dropped from the back of her head to the sensitive place between her shoulderblades, when she moved to meet his gaze. Her blue orbs burning and freezing him simultaneously in the time it took her to look for the truth in his eyes.
“I can’t do this without you... I won’t.“
Her hand caressed his cheek, gentle eyes begging him to see.
“You won’t.“, Joseph said as a matter of fact.
Her forehead furrowed, as he placed his free hand to her chest.
“I am right here.“
Understanding lit in her pale freckled face, and when his eyes found hers again, her lips met his as well. And in a moment of weakness, he wrapped her tight in his arms, closed his eyes and answered her kiss, laced with all the passion he held for her. Kissing his lover goodbye.
"Will you help me?", she aked, when they parted, arms still wrapped around each other, hands clasped behind backs.
"Always.", he answered without a moments hesitation.
"Then run away with me, Joe.", Clarisse said, a new urgency in her tone, took a step back and cupped her hands around his. "Take me away. Don't let me marry another."
Joseph was shocked by her words, wanting so badly to do exactly as she asked, wanting to take her in his arms right there and then, whisk them away to a place no one would ever be able to find them. Disappear. Chase the waterfalls around the world. Count the stars high and low. Let themselves be led by the summer air.
His eyes met hers, promting a sigh from the young woman.
"Fine. Then I'll do it on my own.", the blonde girl said and turned, to make her way back out the window.
"Clarisse..."
He cought her arm in one swift movement, took her hand and spun her into him, like the part of a dance they had swayed to long ago.
"Sweetheart, listen."
The blue eyed beauty focused her gaze on him, anger visible in her stance.
"You are going to be Queen, Clarisse. All the richess of the world at your feet. Children of your own and the people of our country loving you for the firm but kind ruler you are to be. There's this promise of a life, you and I couldn't afford in our wildest dreams. The promise of a future we could never have."
"Is love not a good enough reason to run away from all that?", she asked him in a whisper, her body sagging against his side.
"It is.", Joe's voice caught in this throat. "Our love for the people in this country simply has to be reason enough to stay."
Their foreheads tipped together.
"Become who you're supposed to be. I will be there... And whatever happens... We will grow old together."
***
Rupert, now King of Genovia, made Joseph the Head of the Royal Guard, by way of thanks to swaying the Queen’s mind. It was a bittersweet deed, for one had he not, nor would anyone, be able to force Clarisse Fairchild to change her mind, nor was his heart okay with what his head knew had been the right thing to do. He was put in charge of the Queen’s safety and would spend years trying to decide if staying in her vicinity was worth the heartbreak of seeing her with another man day after day. But where everyone else would have needed to train, beeing able to spot a person in a crowded room on at any given moment, his eyes landed on her without fail every time.

Because I watched “The Longest Ride” and kept picturing Malec as part-time farmers. Magnus gardening and caring for a bunch of stray cats. Alec taking care of the animals, like horses and cows and chickens and pigs. Max and Rafael climbing trees and getting a swing-set and a tree house. The inside of their ranch house would of course be very fancy Magnus’ style, because reasons.

Did someone already write this AU?! I'd totally like to contribute..
Nope, I don’t think anyone did, but feel free to write it if you want! Honestly anyone can write if they feel inspired by it. :)

Safe and Sound
For once in his immortal life Elijah Mikaelson decides to pursue his own happiness, after the events that tore the Mikaelson family apart. His devotion to his younger half-brother Niklaus might run deep and he will protect his sister Rebekah at all cost, but what really consumes him is the love for Hayley. Thus he doesn't get his memory erased and while Rebekah stays in New York with Marcel, Elijah settles in Birmingham. Hayley visits him for a few days on any number of occasions, leaving Hope safe and sound in her school in Mystic Falls. Until the day Freya and Hope will be able to break the curse that tore Mikaelson family apart...
I know this might seem quite a stretch, but in my world the Mikaelson family actually uses their cellphones and mail to stay in contact, not seeing each other for years on end in person, but via technology and framed pictures.
Hayley drove five hours on end through a sunday night, for the single purpose of beeing with the one, who couldn't get near her daughter.
- It was crazy for him to stay this close for all these years, but after everything they had gone through, they deserved this, Freya had been right. As long as Elijah stayed away as far this and Rebekah remained in New York, everyone would be save. Hayley had gotten so used to these long drives, that she couldn't remember a time when she did not have whole hours to herself to just think and feel a weight lift from her the further she got to her destination.
Hayley smiled, when she embarked from her car, the scent of forest making her close her eyes in comfort. After years of spending time with him in a tiny attic flat in the middle of the city, he had found them a small cottage near the woods in the outskirts of Brimingham.
- Since Hope was old enough, she stayed in her school in Mystic Falls right up to the holidays, giving Hayley the time to be in Birmingham for a few weeks rather than days in a row. Returning to New Orleans with mixed feelings every time. She was still the alpha of her pack and Freya was still trying hard to find a permanent solution for their problem, and did not deserve to protect their family home all on her own. And even so everyone constantly assured Hope, that she was worth everything, the littllest Mikaelson doubted that every now and then. She knew that her family was trying hard to keep their distantce and neither her uncle Elijah nor her mother, would ever do anything to risk her happiness for theirs.
Hayley walked up to the front porch with mixed feelings, finding his car gone and the house dark. It was the first time ever she had not told him about her arrival and couldn't have been sure that he would be home, but she had somewhat expected it. The house was beautiful and quiet, made of wood and glas. Maybe to quiet. She walked through every room, finding everything the way they had left it a few weeks prior. There was no sign of Elijah anywhere.
- She missed waking up and falling asleep next to him, without beeing interrupted by family troubles or a town in jeopardy, when she was with Hope. The same way she worried about Hope and the town and her duties as an alpha, when she was with Elijah. It felt like beeing torn apart.
Hayley stood in front of the empty house and could not believe how dense she had been all these years.
- They had finally found a way to "store" the Hollow in someone else than the four Mikaelsons it currently inhabitted. Which meant Hope and Freya had figured out, that the oldest vampire sire-line was almost as good as an original and that while Aurora was under a sleeping curse, she was the perfect vesel for this powerful entity. They had 24 hours to prepare and then they all would be free to return home and Hope had send her to be with Elijah. Klaus was with Caroline and Rebekah with Marcel, while Kol had Davina with him. Hope, Freya and Vincent were not on their own either.
Hayley sighed, when it finally dawned on her and she rushed through the streets, leaving her car in the garage, knowing exactly where she would find him.
***
She knocked on the door of his old attic flat and was not even suprised when he opened the door an instant later, beeing all dressed up.
"Sorry for barging in like this.", she said. "I thought you might like some company."
Hayley held a bottle of Bourbon and a six-pack up for him to see, but he still only starred at her.
She could see all the questions in his eyes he wanted to put into words, but wouldn't... Why are you here and not with Hope? How did you know where I would be?
Hayley let the beverages sink and returned his look.
"I am sorry. Do come in.", he said finally.
The curtesy with which he treated her, betrayed the look in his eyes.
"I was at our house, but it was empty, thus I figured...", Hayley turned to him, when she had sat the beer and whisky down on the counter, leaning back against it.
"Is my niece save?", he asked instead of answering her underlying question.
Hayley could tell, that he was relieved to see her, but the worry about their situation clouded everything.
"Hope and Freya will be fine.", she explained to him, since he obviously needed her to say it.
"Good.", he breathed. And in an instand, he was close to her, his hand in the back of her neck, his lips on hers and Hayley let her eyes fall shut. This was exactly were she wanted to be. Much to soon, Elijah let go of her lips, but leaned his forehead against hers.
"Good.", he said again, making Hayley smile. She let her hand trace down his arm and took his hand, leading him to the small table.
"Let's drink to Always and Forever.", she said solemnly. Elijah touched his whiskey glass against her bottle of beer. She didn't know if it was a good idea to drink the night away, but the hours ticked by faster like this. Hayley's eyes began to feel heavy, when she lying next to Elijah in the beginning dawn. Since he was asleep on his back, Hayley was squeezed between the wall and his body, his right hand on her hip, hers on top of his, her elbow propped up against a pillow, watching him sleep - and she would not have it any other way.
"What's the first thing you are going to do once this is over?", she whispered, when he woke mere minutes before the time, Freya had predicted to be able to lift the curse on the siblings.
Elijah opened his eyes. "Rebekah will be on her way here, once everything is done.", he said instead of an answer.
Hayley returned his look, while their fingers intertwined. "This way Klaus will be the first to be at Hope's side.", she remarked, using her free hand to run it through his hair. Elijah smiled at her, apologetically but not sorry.
Suddenly his body moved on his own, his eyes closed and a scream tore through the air, that made Hayley shutter. She held him down, when the Hollow tore free and watched it leave, while Elijah's body came to rest motionless next to her.
"Elijah.", she said again and again, but he did not move for a long time. Finally, when he opened his eyes, without so much as a word, he cupped her cheek and pulled her in for a long kiss. - This was, what he was the first thing he was going to do all along, and Hayley smiled against his lips.
When his cellphone buzzed, however, he answered it. "It worked. We are on our way.", Rebekah's voice sounded cheerful.
And within a few hours, Hayley and Elijah stood in front of his Bentley, outside the apartment building they had shared for a long time.
Rebekah's car pulled to a stop in front of them and the wheels had not yet finished turning, when Rebekah jumped out and fell into her brother's arms. Hayley walked up to Marcel and smiled, while he too watched both siblings embracing each other. These particular Mikaelson siblings had been apart long and often, but nothing had ever felt like an eternity like this before.
Rebekah tried her tears, when they stepped to their loved ones and greated the other. "We did it.", she said cheerfully and pressed Elijah close, who answered her with a tender kiss to her cheek.
"Let's go see our niece.", he encouraged her, but looked at Hayley, when he said it. Rebekah huged Elijah one more time and then they were on their way towards home.
"Klaus is already with Hope.", Elijah informed Rebekah, having activated the speakerphone the minute they were inside the Bentley. Hayley bit back a smile and took his hand, knowing that the eldest living Mikaelson brother had intended it exactly like this. Giving the father some time alone with his daughter, before the rest of their family would join them. Hayley felt her heart beat faster, when they drove back to New Orleans together for the first time in what felt like a lifetime. She could feel the siblings aggitation, while they talked throughout the journey and knew, that Hope would be happy to have her family back soon.
When they came into the city a few hours later, however, she felt giddy and unsure. Klaus was there and once he was in power again, would he cost Elijah and Rebekah their happiness once more? Would everything they had build in his eight years fall apart just like this.
"Klaus doesn't need us anymore.", Elijah said into her thoughts, steering the car through the well-known streets of his home town. "He has finally found what he wanted all his life.", Elijah paused for a second, taking a narrow short cut. "The unconditional love of family. He has Hope now."
Hayley could tell, that this revelation should have made her happier, than it did. "Hope loves him." - "He loves her." They both fell silent, when Elijah parked next to Rebekah's car. Both siblings and their loved ones embarking from the cars, walking inside without giving them much time to think.
"Mom.", Hope screamed and ran into her. "We did it!"
Hayley congratulated her daughter, hugging her close and looked up to find Freya, Vincent, Caroline and Klaus who grinned at her.
"Hope.", Rebekah said, her voice almost out of breath.
"Auntie Bex.", the teenager smiled and huged her close, leaning against Marcel, as he joined in.
Hayley stepped back, watching the scene, when Kol and Davina appeared behind Elijah, who walked away to greet his brother. They huged for a long time, silently crying in each others arms, but content and Hayley felt her heart grow heavy.
She realized only when Freya spoke, that the oldest Mikaelson sister had taken Elijah's place beside her. "We will need to reinforce the sleeping curse over time, but maybe it is better, we drop her into the deepest ocean we can possibly find."
"We can do that.", Kol said, leading everyone to stare at him and his wife.
"Freya placed a dark object inside Aurora's coffin, thus we can do it from afar.", Hope explained, visibly proud.
"Thank you." It was Elijah who had spoken, appearing beside Hope, on Hayley's other side, but speaking to the youngest living Mikaelson brother. Davina raised her eyebrow, when Kol and her disappeared as soon as they had shown up, with the coffin that would keep the Hollow and Aurora safe under water.
A collective sight went through the rest of their family and Hayley smiled, when she felt Elijah's hand slip around hers. "Thank you.", he whispered close to her ear and she had the definite feeling, that despite the troubles they would face in the future, Always and Forever was alive once more, including her and Hope at long last. Letting Elijah's promise of a life together for the three of them, seem finally withing their reach.

Do you ever dream of the world like I do?
A cat-eyed man and a blue-skinned man with white horns were sitting on the patio of a fancy apartement with four drinks set on a table between them, watching the night sky for the comet which was said to appear any time now.
"Papa, do you remember the last time we saw the comet pass us by?", the younger warlock asked, his blue eyes not leaving the sky.
"I do, Blueberry.", the older one retorted, his fingers caressing the rim of his glas as if it was a lover's skin. How he yearned for the intertwining of their fingers right there and then.
"But Daddy and Rafe aren't here this time."
"I know, Blueberry."
A silence settled between them and Magnus looked to the place on the bench beside him that was still empty. The place were Alexander Lightwood was not sitting.
Then he looked at their son, whose eyes had left the sky in order to watch the empty chair in which his brother was not sitting either.
"Is it wrong to do this without them?", Max inquired. "It feels wrong."
He met his father's sad eyes and knew, what neither of them said out loud. Nothing was ever right without the four of them together at the end of the day.
The grace of the comet in it's everlasting light adorned the sky, while the two immortal warlocks were captured by the memories of the beauty of a day long gone by.
"We need to see this.", Rafe said again during breakfast. "The comet appears only every 70-something years, guys!" The seven year old had clearly set his mind to it and was not in a mood to be told “No“.
Magnus exchanged a look with Alec and got an If-it-is-important-to-him-Shrug.
“Max?“, he asked the five year old.
“Whatever... I don’t care.“, the blue child responded.
Magnus sighed. “Celestial event it is then.“
Rafe grinned from ear to ear, while the rest of his family went on with their breakfast routine, their minds set on going about their day.
Magnus and Alec exchanged a chaste kiss, before they went their seperate ways for the day. And another day went by without further ado.
The evening was packed with preperations for the night as well as for the next day. Alec and Magnus having settled into their roles as parents to an extend were there was not much time left for just the two of them.
Even as they sat on the patio, waiting for the night to settle over New York, everyone was still somewhat distracted and restless. Magnus busy to sooth a tired Max and Alec trying to focus on a report.
They had however prepared drinks and found the time to toast to each other, engulfing in a kiss, before their kids had demanded their attention again.
“Look.“, Max said eventually, jolting them back to the matters at hand.
They each looked up, amazed by the beauty of the sky. Except for Rafael who had fallen asleep some time ago without any of them noticing.
When their eyes returned to each other, the light still reflected in their gaze and Alec smiled contentedly at Magnus. Their hands finding each other in the dim light. Their eyes unable to focus on anything else, until they closed them shortly before their lips reunited in a tender kiss, that wasn’t cut short.
Meanwhile, Max still sat motionless on Magnus’ lap, looking at the stars with so much sincere wonder in his blue eyes, it was as if the world turned without them for a while.
Magnus hadn't heard footsteps approaching, but felt warm fingertips tenderly running through his hair. "Alexander.", he sighed contentedly. "I am sorry we couldn't be here.", his husband whispered, his lips almost touching his temple. Magnus tried to catch Alec's hand but it was gone before his finger's could close around his wrist.
"You miss the comet every time.", Max laughed and punched his older brother playfully, who had appeared with their father.
Magnus turned his head to watch their sons bickering and the next thing he knew, was that Alec's head sank heavy into his lap. The warlock felt his heart pound in his chest and he set his glas down in order to craddle his lover's face.
"Welcome home, Alexander.", he said in a low voice, almost inaudible, and bend down to kiss his husband. His lips were warm and soft and he never wanted to let go of this feeling ever again.
Alec smiled, when their lips parted and took the warlocks ringed hand, that lay firm against his chest, into his. Their fingers intertwined like they always had, lovingly and sure.
"The Clave abboarded our mission sooner.", he explained, while his gaze never left the cat-eyed man's face.
"They still redline us for beeing immortal. You can see it in their eyes.", Rafe chimmed in.
"Why are you even still with the Shadowhunters.", Max complained.
"Because we are what we are, Max.", his father explained, turning his head in his husband's lap. "Immortality or not."
Magnus’ hand was tenderly caressing his husband's temple, not taking part in that everlasting argument. Knowing that Alec was still bearing the memento of his late family of Shadowhunters.
And while the voices of his family filled the cool summer air, Magnus Bane found his gaze shift back to the stars, grateful that they would have many more chances to see the comet... Together.
It was when he felt a firm grip on the collar of his shirt, that he cast his cat-eyes down to meet dark brown orbs gazing tenderly up at him. And he found himself wondering, what the universe could hold against a future like this. When their lips met in whispered “I love you“’s he was certain, that the answer was “Nothing at all.“

Your fate rests with me
You can't undo a fall like this 'cause love don't know what distance is I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough" I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love"
Alec has to spend a few days in Alicante in order to attend Imogen’s memorial service and witness Jace's trial. He ponders about past decisions, but makes once again clear that he may remain head of the NY institute, yet is not inclined to take a position, that would force him to move to Idris for the rest of his mortal life. He is aware, that this was supposed to be his fate and his reason, if it weren't for Magnus Bane.
"Magnus. Hi. It's me. Alec.", the shadowhunter says nervously, squinching his eyes shut, when he realizes that his boyfriend probably saw who was calling when he picked up the phone.
"Hello stranger.", Magnus answers in a sweet voice. And Alec can literally see him, walking around in his loft, playing his fingertips along random surfaces like the sideboard or the rim of a glass. A longing fills his chest, much the same as homesickness.
"I've missed you.", Alec blurts out before he can help himself. The pressure of a long day vanished with only the sound of Magnus’ voice in his ear.
"How are you holding up?", he asks, before Magnus has the chance to respond. Letting the thoughts and worries resurface, he had suppressed all day long.
"I am fine. Catarina came by and asked if we could watch Madzie over the weekend." Magnus chuckles. "She even showed me some basic mundane cooking skills. We'll may be able to stop living on takeout." Magnus smiles, at the same time as Alec smiles, both unable to see each other’s expression.
"I miss you, too.", Magnus adds tenderly, causing Alec to blush furiously.
"That’s very kind of her.", Alec says in a low voice, conveying to Magnus how deeply he still blames himself for having to make this trip in such a crucial phase of Magnus' new life.
"I told her we would love to watch Sweet Pea.", Magnus answers. "It will be good for all of us."
Alec nods. "Yeah."
A silence follows, that speaks louder than words and would have been filled with a hug or a kiss, if they had been in the same room together.
"How is Jace?", Magnus asks eventualy, trying to be there for Alec as much as he can. He knows that his boyfriend's main concern is the loss of his (Magnus) magic, but his (Alec) parabatei is in more sinister trouble for the time beeing.
"He'll be put under arrest with the silent brothers again, in order to clarify his soul. Apparently, your magic destroyed Lilith's hold on him, but did not vanguish the taint on his soul.", Alec explains, rubbing his forehead while pacing to and fro. "They aren't going to execute him for his posessed actions, like killing Imogen. But I will have to be here, when they escort him to the City of Bones tomorrow morning."
“This means, I won’t be home for another day.“, Alec clarifies, when silence follows, unable to keep the regret from his voice.
“I won’t be going anywhere.“, Magnus promises him once again and Alec suddenly feels so very lonely. These rooms are cold without the warlock’s presence. Every room is, even his old chamber in the institute is distant and cold. Only Magnus’ loft feels like home anymore, because in these rooms and in these walls is the essence of the man he had so instantly fallen in love with.
"I would never have thought, that the Council is as advanced, as not letting someone atton for a demons sins.", Magnus can't stop himself to state, interrupting Alec’s thoughts.
Instead of an answer, however, he earnes a heartfelt laughter from the man he loves. Magnus is taken by suprise and can’t help but smile to himself.
“You wouldn’t think that a shadowhunter trial could be this civil.“, Alec retorts, changing his phone to the other ear.
“Still...“, Alec continues, stopping his pacing to sit on the edge of the bed. “He blames himself and I am afraid there is nothing left for him worth fighting for, if we can’t find Clary.“
Magnus sighs. Alec would always be like this. Never believing that anyone could attach importance to someone like him. The man who had stood in front of him, with a dire expression, telling him, that without Jace he was nothing, believed that Jace would not be willing to go on living because of him.
“We’ll find her.“, Magnus says instead. “I might not have my magic, but Catarina and Dorothea are keeping an eye out for us.“
“Izzy, Luke and Simon are on it as well.“, Alec says, a tiredness in his voice, Magnus longs to chase aways with just one touch of his hand or lips.
“We’ll find her.“, Magnus repeats, filling his voice with the soothing tone of his touch.
Alec is silent on the other end for a long time and Magnus is already trying to come up with something to cheer his boyfriend up, when he hears a sigh and instead waits for Alec to speak what is on his mind.
“Can you do something for me?“, Alec asks eventually, a shyness in his voice, that makes Magnus’ stomach flutter.
“Whatever you want, Alexander. It’s done.“, Magnus promises, without a second thought and Alec inhales deeply.
“Stay with me.”, he finally says out loud. Repeating those exact words back to Magnus leaves a sting in his chest, but there is no better way to put his feelings.
“I can't sleep, can't breathe, can’t think clearly...“, his voice gets fainter with every confession. “I need you with me.“ Alec clears his throat, while Magnus closes his eyes, lost for words. “Look... I don’t care if you are mortal or immortal. All I care about is you.“
Magnus opens his mouth, but only a faint whisper of “Alexander“ reaches Alec’s ear.
Alec closes his eyes, picturing their last fight about this issue. And a lumb formes in his chest. Back then, he couldn’t stomach the idea to grow old while Magnus would remain young. And now, there was nothing more painful a thought as the possibility to watch Magnus age and die. Alec felt impotent rage, knowing that someone would take Magnus’ immortality on a whim.
“We’ll get your magic back.“, he promises him once more, squinching his eyes close to focus on Magnus breathing on the other end of the phone. “If I have to go to Edom myself. I’ll do whatever it takes to make this right.“
The words sound hollow in the empty room.
“It's going to be alright, Alexander.“, Magnus assures him. “I was terrified at first and not used to a life without my magic. But look, I have the chance to grow old with the one I love. A possibility I never fathomed to have.“
“I know...“, Alec whispers into the phone, his eyes remaining closed.
“You have given up so much, just for... this.“ Alec’s voice breaks before he can finish the sentence.
“Alexander...“ Magnus’ voice is even and sure. “I told you I would do it time and time again, if it means that you are safe.“
“I can't sleep, either, when you are not around.”, he confesses, a smile on his lips, his eyes half closed. He takes the picture frame from the nightstand, looking tenderly into image!Alec’s eyes.
“I haven’t had a good nights sleep, since you are gone and I wouldn’t want this for all eternity.“, Magnus mused, his thumb tracing the outline of image!Alec’s face.
“Well then, maybe... We could talk until we both fall asleep.“, Alec mutters, pressing the phone to his ear.
The phone line stays silent for a heartbeat,
“I’d love that, Alexander.“, Magnus answers contentedly.
“Did you know, that people eat pineapple on their pizza?“, he asks, amusement lacing his voice.
Alec laughes at that, which makes Magnus’ heart skip a beat.
“I didn’t.“, he admits with a lightness in his tone, that makes Magnus sure of one thing: He would stay up with him all night, if that meant making sure that Alec wouldn’t have another bad night.
“Thank you.“, Alec says into his thoughts and Magnus is startlet for a moment.
“You are welcome, Alexander.“, Magnus answers him, yearning more than ever to have him right here in his arms. His eyes focus on their bed, unaware that he had made his way into the bedroom while talking. He puts the picture frame back on the nightstand and retreats from the room, closing the door behind him and making his way to the couch. He’d rather toss and turn all night there than find no sleep in an empty bed.
They talk for a while longer, until their voices grow weary and Magus feels his eyes close with the promise of sleep.
“Hurry back, shadowhunter.“, he whispers to his lover, before the phone slides onto the pillow next to his head. Knowing that Alec is already half asleep as well.

Just a fling
This is a Blood Ties (TV) fanfiction, because I still think, that it was a great show and Henry and Vicky deserved a little more passion... and just because their relationship is so vastly different from Malec’s I decided to go with it. #SaveShadowhunters
He is just an affair... She is nothing but a fling to him.
Vicky Nelson tried to keep her mind focused on the reasons why she could afford to let herself go like this. Henry’s hands on her skin and his mouth close to hers made it impossible to resist. The sparks between them, that had electrified her skin from the moment they met, had finally cought fire.
My supernatural abilities aren’t working on you.
She remembered him reminding her, whenever she had tried to assure herself it wasn’t her who wanted him so badly, it was just one of his tricks. He could have anyone he wanted... But not her. Yet she arched her back, when his mouth trailed down to her neck, his teeth scratching her sensitive skin but not drawing blood and his hands wandering down her sides, supporting her every move.
A mourn escaped her parting lips, that was quickly cought by Henry’s mouth on hers.
It was ridicilous. He was 400-something year old royalty and she was an almost blind ex-cop. Just not meant to be... but the fire his hands left on her body and the spinning of her head when their lips parted indicated a different meaning.
“Vicky.“
His voice was soft and laced with this underlying seduction, she had tried to laugh off many times before. But now, she wanted to indulge into this feeling. His hands, however, gripped her hips firmly, stopping her from moving up against him.
“What are you doing here?“
His dark eyes fixed her like prey and Vicky propped herself onto her elbows to be level with his eyes.
“You left for Vancouver without another word. I needed to make sure you are okay.“
Her eyes were supposed to be locked with his, yet her gaze kept wandering to and fro between his eyes and his lips, while she talked. Vicky had to taste him again. The moment she crossed his threshold, she knew that it was a point of no return.
“I am fine.“
Henry said, his voice hoarse with longing, as he watched her wetting her lips.
And suddenly she was pinned beneath him. His fingers trailing up her sides, up her arms, interlacing with the fingers of both her hands above her head.
“You were the one who rejected me, remember?“
Henry’s lips were close, his hips were closer and Vicky, who had closed her eyes for a brief moment, opened them with a deadpan stare.
“I do.“
Vicky answered matter of factly.
“This is no reason...“
But she was cut off midsentence by Henry’s mouth closing her lips. Their bodies moving against each other, as his grip on her hands tightened.
“...to leave... without a word.“
Vicky finished her sentence with some difficulty, before his lips made her lose the meaning of words alltogether.
It was even better than she had imagined in her wildest dreams - not that she would talk to him about it ever again - and she found herself willingly submit to his guiding hands.
***
When the world had spun back into place, Vicky Nelson was aware, that she was sharing a bed with a dead body. Unmoving, unbreathing, cold under her touch... dead to the outside world for a few more hours. It would have been easy to flee from the scene, take the plane back to Detroit and never think of Henry Fitzroy again. Or about what they had just done. Just go back to her job as a private investigator, fight with Mike and try with Coreen’s help to solve enough cases to afford her rent.
What she did, however, was taking a lengthly shower in his extravagant bathroom, taking one of his nightgowns and sitting in a chair on his balcony with a glas of red wine and one of his graphic novels to keep her company.
Mike had been right about her changing from the person she had been when they worked together. She was a cop and she did not believe in the supernatural... She had also been healthy then and never experienced a longing like this.
For once in her life, Vicky wanted to do something reckless... Like falling in love with a vampire, who had another in his bed every other night. And stupid... Like beeing one of that women.
I knew you wouldn’t be able to stay away.
Her eyes flickered over the pages, but her head began hurting soon. Her fingers pinched the back of her nose, getting rid of her glases with the other hand. If the disease kept proceeding that fast, she would be totally blind by the end of the year. Trying to sooth away the pain, she closed her eyes, falling asleep only moments later.
“I did expect to find you gone.“
Vicky woke with some difficulties. She was no longer sitting in the balcony chair, but her head still hurt, mostly from the wine without anything to eat.
“Good morning to you too.“
She spat back, but the moment she opened her eyes, Vicky saw the concern lacing his features.
“Is your eyesight that bad?“
His voice had lost it’s alluring tone and Vicky had trouble keeping herself from weeping. She was in a fucked up situation and didn’t know how to help herself.
“I am not blind.“
She said in a tone that was supposed to be stern, but the way he stood and sad beside her on the couch, his fingers touching her chin ever so slightly, made her falter.
“Yet.“
Vicky added with a dead-pan voice.
“You know, that my blood could help.“
He offered her, like he had done once before. She had outright refused him then, but only shook her head now, taking his hand on her chin into her shivering fingers..
“This is just a temporary solution to a permanent problem.“
Vicky answered him. Yet the thought of losing her eyesight made her afraid to a point she could explain. She was Vicky Nelson and nothing scared her... Not even...
She gulped hard, returning his gaze.
“I don’t need saving.“
Vicky told him, almost pouting. Yet Henry extended his other hand and reached for her hair, gently stroking the blonde strands near her cheek.
“All the strong people do.“
He replied in a voice, that made her believe him. Made her willing to try and let herself be saved. She was certain that this wouldn’t be easy for her to accept and she needed to find the courage to emerge from this on her own, but for now, Vicky accepted his offer with a small nod.
“I trust you.“
Her voice was hoarse, when his lips came into reach. Henry had bitten down on his lower lip with his sharp teeth, causing his blood to run down his pale chin.
“Trust makes you do strange things.“
The vampire smiled, when he watched her bend closer, her lips and tongue dancing over his cold skin, careful not to waste any of his precious blood.
His hands moved around her neck, his fingers curling into her hair as he pulled her in for another deep kiss.
“It must be something in the air.“
She joked, pecking his lips.
“That is the coffee, my dear.“
He answered, bending her over backwards to steel another kiss, before he stood to retrieve a cup of coffee for her.
“Cream or sugar?“
Henry asked, while walking away. And Vicky could do nothing but stare, as her vision widened and she could make out the layout of the room clearly for the first time.
“Black...“
She whispered, her thumb tracing her lower lip, where Henry’s touch still lingered.
“...like your soul.“

You are mine
Coda to 2x12 (You are not your own)
When Magnus was tortured in Valentine’s body and lived through his worst memory time and again he tried to not hold onto Alexander as his safe place, but the deeper his darkness became, the more he needed the light in his life...
“Magnus. Tell me how to fix this.“, he begged, sitting down as close to him as he dared.
The warlock looked at him with a strangeling kind of sadness in his eyes, that made Alec’s heart ache.
“Just tell me what to do, please.”
Magnus shook his head, not willing or able to speak up.
They sat close on the small couch but did not touch like they used to. There was a suspense between them, the way they held their bodies, that was untypical for them. In the past weeks they had become comfortable around each other to an extend, that made it impossible not to be near the other, when in the same room. It was like gravity. Their souls calling out for each other.
Magnus found he needed the warmth of that familiar body beside him as much as he needed to get away from it. But he simply couldn’t tell him the horrible things he had done. Using him to hold onto his sanity was simply not right. And it hurt to keep it from him all the same.
“Alexander.“, he choked out, but couldn’t say more. His voice broke and he cast his eyes down. He couldn’t even look at him. The guilt, the disgrace ate him up from the inside and he needed time. Magnus needed time to cloak all this emotions with that cheerful self he wore so well. He needed to be alone... Yet he couldn’t find it in him to ask Alec to leave.
But as it turned out, that wasn’t necessary.
“I am sorry.“, the shadowhunter whispered and Magnus couldn’t bring himself to react.
It was only a fraction in time, when Alec moved closer, placed an arm around his shoulder and his forehead sank against Magnus’ temple.
“I am sorry you had to go through this.“ Magnus could feel his breath against his cheek and was soothed as well as disguted by it. He could feel Alec’s eyes closing and took a deep breath.
“It wasn’t your fault, Alexander.“, he said, allowing himself to find comfort in his boyfriend’s arms. His head sank against Alec’s and his body practically slummed against the shadowhunter’s steady form.
And Alec caught him as certain as the sun, his arms beeing the only thing that held Magnus together at that point. His hand moved on his own to find Alec’s warm palm, intertwining their fingers.
“I need you to...“
“.. leave.“
Magnus nodded, clutching his hand. He was conflicted, but knew that if Alec stayed, it would hurt the both of them.
“Do you need me to leave the apartement or should I stay on the couch?“, Alec whispered against his temple.
The young shadowhunter knew that Magnus needed his space, but given the situation, he needed to make sure.
But Magnus didn’t answer. He kept leaning against him and Alec moved his head ever so slightly, to let Magnus’ rest against his chest, his lips pressing against his hairline ever so gently.
They stayed on like this for what seemed like a lifetime, basking in each others warmth.
“You are my safe place, Alexander.“, the warlock whispered almost inaudible with the imminent need to get this of his chest. Tears streamed down his face and he was relieved that Alec was unable to see this.
“I never had a safe place to land.“, Alec confessed, caressing his hair, while his chin rested against Magnus’ head. “...until I met you.“
“No.“, Magnus sat up and looked straight at him, anger written all over his tearstained face.
“You don’t understand, Alexander.“
He moved up, agitated and started pacing around.
“I used you.”
Alec followed his movement with his eyes and was lost for words. He didn’t understand indeed and was about to open his mouth to say so, but Magnus kept on talking...
“Whenever the pain of that agony rune overwhelmed me. I tried to go back to my happiest memory. The day I knew you loved me.“
Magnus cheeks were glistening with tears, but when Alec moved to stand, he held up his hand, so the other sat back down. Watching him, helplessly.
“I clung to this.... image of you, to keep me sane.“
His words were laced with pure disgust.
“But isn’t this what a safe place is for?“, Alec asked under his breath, still not getting his full meaning. “To have someone to keep yourself together when things are falling apart?“
Magnus finally locked eyes with him.
“You don’t know anything about the memory you were up against.“, he screamed through his tears. “You don’t know what that agony rune made me relive.“
“Then tell me.“, Alec begged again. “Make me understand.“
Magnus looked sad and defeated.
“Leave me alone.“, he whispered. “I don’t want you to see me like this.“
I can’t break in front of you... You of all people. For you I need to be strong.
“Magnus.“, Alec said while standing up, but not getting close.
“I love you... And whatever it is, I am here for you.“ His voice broke. “You never have to pretend how you fell, especially not with me.“
“I am sorry, Alexander.“, Magnus whispered, when he cupped his lover’s face in his hands. “I love you, too.” And a soft flicker of his magic erased Alec’s memories of their brief heart to heart.
“I am fine.“, he asured him, when Alec blinked in confusion.
“You sure you don’t need me to clean that up?“, Alec asked, pointing to the glass on the floor.
“No need to worry.“, Magnus said, smiling despite himself. “Magic, remember?“
Alec nodded and bend down to peck his lips, tenderly but chaste.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.“
“Yeah.”
“Good night, Alexander.“, Magnus added, after the door had closed behind the man he loved. He could feel himself breaking and he knew that he had done something irrevocably wrong.
But despite everything. Despite the deep trust he had in Alexander from the very beginning. He was afraid to loose him to an extend, that made him do silly things, like erasing his memory. He knew that Alec did not deserve this... and neither did he. But in his long lifetime, he had learned one thing. Trust and love were easily shattered, while pain lasted and kept on crawling back in, when love was nothing but a fleeting memory.
Magnus walked into his living room and poured himself a drink. He stepped in front of the window and looked out into the darkness, beyond his reflection. His fingers traced his lips, savouring the feeling that Alec’s lips had left. And he knew that this time closing himself off was not an option.

Years from now
Could not stop thinking about this prompt and thought I’d give it a try... #ace writing smut #don’t like don’t read
It had been a long time since they'd done this last. - Alec observed with the rational part of his mind. Just Magnus and him, on the couch, kissing. Engulfed in that feeling of tenderness, warmth and comfort. They had their two boys now, who neither of them would trade for anything. Sometimes, Alec just missed having Magnus all to himself in these quiet and undisturbed moments that happened so very rarely.
“Do you want this?”, Magnus asked with a smirk, his lips nibbling at the crook of Alec’s neck. “Because I swear to God I’ll not stop until your legs are quivering and the neighbours are very well aware of my name.” Alec’s laugh vibrated through him, making Magnus stop in his path to look at his partner. “I think almost everyone is very well aware of your name.“, Alec answered him with a smirk, running his hand over the back of his lover’s neck. “You are Magnus Bane.” Their foreheads met, eyes closing. “But yes.“, Alec continued talking, tilting his head to reach Magnus’ lips again. “I want this.“ Their lips met, tongues dancing. Magnus hummed into the kiss, pulling them both into the soft cushions of the couch.
A pained sound escaped Magnus’ lips, when his lower back hit something hard and pointy, causing Alec to interrupt their kiss to give Magnus room to retrieve one of Max’s toys. Alec ran his hand through his already messy hair and smiled, looking down a the toy triceratops Maryse had given their youngest son for his birthday.
“I knew it would be around here somewhere.“, Magnus exclaimed, placing his son’s toy on the ground.
“Max will be thrilled you found it. He’ll be all over you.“, Alec said, his eyes still on the dinosaur, remembering how Max had acted out when neither of them could find his favourite toy this morning. “I’d rather have you all over me, right now.“, Magnus said in a husky voice, pulling Alec down on him once again, his hands cupping his lover’s neck.
“Are you talking dirty to me?”, Alec asked on the verge of laughing, moving to pin Magnus’ hips down. The warlock grinned up at him, his cat-eyes unglamoured now. “It depends. Does it work?” Both men smilled at each other. “You tell me, Magnus Bane.”, Alec told him eventually, playfully planting a chaste kiss on his lips.
But Magnus was fast and did not let him pull away like the shadwhunter had intented to. Instead he reversed their positions, so that he was on top of Alec, his hand cupping the back of his head. When he tried to get up, Alec followed his movement. Both getting rid of their shirts with the least parting time possible. Their mouths crashing into each other, shirts tossed aside, leading both men to fall back into the cushions laughing even more.
“You are really bad at this dirty talk thing.“, Alec teased him, when their laughter had died down. “You wanna tell me something dirty then, Alexander?“, Magnus smiled, his fingers playing with Alec’s hair, his body firm against the shadowhunters frame.
Alec seemed to think, his mouth moving to Magnus’ ear. “The kitchen.”, he whispered in a voice that made Magnus shiver. The warlock was turned on, depsite the humorous content of Alec’s words, and Alec’s lips against the crook of his neck, made his mind go completely blank.
Magnus Bane, who usually had a snappy comeback at hand, kept quiet, moving his hands over his lover’s bare back, tilting his head to allow Alexander better access to the sensitive skin behind his ear. He closed his eyes once more, merging into his lover’s embrace.
“Papa!“, a child’s voice echoed through the room. “You found him!“
Magnus burried his face into the cushion next to Alec’s head. “My pleasure, blueberry.“, he answered his youngest son, his voice muffled but audible. Alec’s arms kept his hold on Magnus’ hips, making them keep their current position on the couch. “My pleasure.“, he repeated, admitting defeat by placing a soft kiss on the only part of Alec’s skin he could reach without moving.
“Daddy. What are you doing?“, Rafe wanted to know, appearing beside his brother, who was much to invested into his recovered toy to pay attention to his parents odd way of laying around on the couch in the middle of the day.
“We were just talking about the fact, that the kitchen needs to be cleaned.“, Alec explained to their eldest son, keeping a straight face, with some effort. Magnus managed not to burst out laughing as well, barely thou.
Rafe nodded sincerely. “Look what aunt Izzy gave me.“, he continued talking, causing Alec to move into a sitting position, pulling Magnus up with him. “A toy blade.“, Alec observed, bending over to examine his son’s treasure.
“Speaking of which... Where is your aunt?”, Magnus asked at the precise moment Alec’s cell buzzed next to them. Both men exchanged a look, while Alec answered his phone. “Turns out they portaled here.“, he informed Magnus, in between reasurring Izzy that the kids were save and she was in no way to blame for their kids’ actions. Magnus had is glamoured eyes fixed on their sons, his mind humming with the resonance of Alec’s kiss, his thumb stroking lightly over his lower lip.
“Let’s get the kitchen cleaned up then.“, he encouraged the boys, beeing pulled back to reality, when Alec put his cell down. Rafe assumed a firm position then, his toy blade howering in the air. “Make me.“, he said with a stern look.
Magnus exchanged another look with Alec, invisibly shaking their heads at each other, before they moved up from the couch to entertain their sons. Magnus magicking a toy dragon alive for his son to fight against, but ending up beeing the one attacked. While Alec took Max from the floor, the triceratops safe in his chubby blue fingers, and carried him into the kitchen. Where Rafe had started to duel with the broomstick Magnus’ had cleaning the floor by itself. Alec sighed, taking his place beside Magnus at the sink, sitting Max down on the counter next to them.
“Remind me, why you showed Max how to use a portal.“, he commented, while drying the dishes Magnus’ passed him. The warlock stopped in his action and turned to look him in the eyes. His hand moved to caress his cheek, knowing that Alec agreed with him that their kids should be able to come home, whenever they felt like it. They exchanged a smile, letting their eyes linger in that peaceful understanding for a little while longer. “Blueberry.“, Max corrected him, almost automatically. “Blueberry Max.“, Magnus agreed, using his free hand to ruffle his son’s hair and took the time to kiss Alec. It felt like a safe haven in the chaos of their lifes and both sighed when they parted, focusing their attention back to the matters at hand.
***
Alec was suitably exhausted and really glad that he was finally able to lay down into the soft fabric of their bed, eyes closing against his will. He barely noticed Magnus walking in.
“Max is finally asleep.“, he informed him, slipping under the covers beside Alec without further ado. “Rafe too.“, Alec answered him in a low voice.
“You got that legs quivering part right.“, he continued talking, not able to open his eyes. “Playing warrior is much more exhausting than to actually be one.“ Alec extended his arm onto Magnus’ side of the bed and his lover accepted the invitation, cuddling into his side.
“Rafe enjoyed attacking my legs way to much.“ Alec’s voice drifted off, his face burried into Magnus hair. “I love you.”, he murmured, before Magnus could respond and smiled. “I love you, too.” Magnus answered automatically, relaxing into the man beside him.
And with the warmth of his partner engulfing him, Magnus driffted off to sleep as well, making a mental note to keep the dirty talk to minimum the next time they would manage to be alone together, able to enjoy themselves without beeing to exhausted to do anything else than to fall asleep in each others arms.
