Moon 130-Leaf-bare

Gladepaw (6) has been made a Healer apprentice. He’s glad to be out of the nursery, but his ceremony is a bittersweet occasion. As he sits with Cressfreckle (46), he can’t help but wish that his other parents, who he barely remembers, could be there too. It feels wrong that Yellowcreek, Graysong, and Airclaw aren’t there. Steppepaw (13) has also been made a full Healer, honoring her observance with the name of Steppemimic. Conepaw (13) is a little jealous that her sister, who started Healer training after her, got made a full Healer before her. Her brother has also been made a warrior, with the name of Lupinefrost (13) in honor of his caution, leaving Conepaw as the only one of Fry’s (37) kits who is still an apprentice. Although annoyed at this, Conepaw quite likes being in the healer's den, particularly around Needlepelt (33). She thinks everything the other she-cat does is so entertaining. After so much loss, the Clan is trying to rebuild. Amethystdapple (57) invites in a rogue named Strawberrytrail (118), who, the Clan is surprised to find, has an enormously powerful fire blessing. She’s even more powerful than Nightingaletree was. Yuccastar (109) thinks she’ll be nice to have on their side, even if she is older. Yuccastar feels like Peakspots (99) is trying to undermine her and brings it up to him. He hasn’t been trying to, and is upset. Chervilcry (109) has to step in to break up their fight. Despite the fact that Wildcave (13) is now a warrior, Peakspots is still enjoying spending time with his former apprentice. They had a mock fire battle, which was safe due to the piles of snow around. Cressfreckle is still looking out for Lilypaw (9), making sure that she’s alright in her training with Yuccastar.

Moon 119-Leaf-bare

As the war with FurledClan continues, it claims its first casualty. Antlersky (77) was on a patrol and fell into a pit trap set by FurledClan warriors. It was layered with earth-blessing shaped spikes that impaled her before she had a chance to get out with her air magic. Brightfalcon (162) is shocked by the loss of her eldest daughter so soon after the loss of her son. She sits vigil that night as grief fills her heart. In the days to come, Brightfalcon barely stirs from her nest. Bushmask (129), too, is devastated by the loss of his adoptive daughter. He worked so hard to earn her affection, and he’s glad for the time they had together. He searches for cats to help but, when no one needs anything from him, he breaks down, wailing uncontrollably and cursing the world that took Antlersky instead of him. Caterpillarmallow (69) mourns the loss of her mate. She knew they might not always be together, but she didn’t expect them to be separated so soon. She visits Antlersky’s grave, bittersweetly recalling all the happy memories they shared. There is a bright spot amidst all this grief. Graysong (32) and Yellowcreek (46) have become mates! Yellowcreek can’t believe he’s so lucky as to have a cat that cares about him as much as Graysong does, and Graysong appreciates Yellowcreek’s help in coping with his brother’s loss. Now they just have to see what Airclaw (61) and Cressfreckle (35) think about polycules. . .Peakspots (88) is still recovering from his injury. But when he’s recovered, he hopes he doesn’t end up going on a patrol with Stonefreckle (102). For some reason, he’s never been very close with his older foster brother. Maybe he’s jealous that Stonefreckle got more time with Nightingaletree. Or maybe they’re just too different to get along. Speaking of cats not getting along, Gentle (106) feels like Yuccastar (98) has been relegating the powerless cats in the Clan to useless tasks. He brings this up with her, but the two of them just fight and end up resentful of each other. Meanwhile, his kits are also having some tension. Timberfleck (16) is jealous that Midgepurr (16) got to fight in a border skirmish when he didn’t. He wants to serve his Clan too! ElementClan seems to be the Clan of the wind-blessed cats, as another former loner named Amethystdapple (46) has joined the Clan with medium-strength wind powers.

Moon 118-Leaf-bare

The combination of leaf-bare and the war is wearing on the Clan. Brightfalcon (161) is devastated by the loss of her son, just a year after she lost Rosemaryquake. She’s not sure she wants to go on in a world where her kits are dead. Can’t she just go back in time to last leaf-bare, when they all were still alive? The war with FurledClan has led to ElementClan having to adopt new routines. Yuccastar (97) has their strongest wind-blessed cats flushing up drifts of snow on the borders and often puts Peakspots (102) on border patrols, so that any cats who remember Nightingaletree see her son is still out and fighting. But after a border skirmish leaves him with a bad wound, he has to take a rest in the healer's den. In his absence it doesn’t hurt to have Yellowcreek (45) do a little dark-cursed demonstration. Just so they don’t forget who they’re dealing with. Yuccastar has also recovered from greencough and came out as nonbinary, using she/they pronouns. They seem to be having a bit of a mid-life crisis and doubting herself a lot more than they used to. Meanwhile, Antlersky (76) is getting along with her brother, feeling the need to bond with her remaining siblings after Flurrypelt’s loss. Meanwhile, the quadrangle cats are bonding. Cressfreckle (34), Airclaw (60), and Graysong (31) had a nice talk while eating, and Cressfreckle purrs for a long time at one of Airclaw’s lame jokes. However, Yellowcreek is taking some time by himself. The demonstrations haven’t helped Yellowcreek’s reputation with some of his clanmates. He notices that cats like Bushmask (128) and Flinttooth (19) have been nervous around him lately. He wishes they would just relax and that Yuccastar wouldn’t ask any more of him. But he decides that he won’t stop using his powers to protect his Clan, if that’s what Yuccastar thinks is best.

Moon 104-Leaf-fall

After almost six moons, Yellowcreek (31) is out of the healer's den! His broken leg healed up well, and he’s excited to leave camp again. He thinks his leg took so long to heal because he didn’t use his powers on it, due to the whole ‘dark-cursed cats shouldn’t heal’ thing. He just wants to be accepted by the Clan, but is starting to feel like he never will be. He’s lonely. Despite her hesitations about Yellowcreek, Yuccastar can’t help but admire his bravery. She can appreciate a dark-cursed cat-Shadestar was her leader, after all. Now other Star-blessed cats on the other paw. . .Chervilcry (83) has noticed that the tension between Yuccastar (83) and Judaschaser (125) has been high lately, and asks Brightfalcon (147) for advice. She was around when Shadestar and Nightingaletree hated each other. How did she deal with two high-powered cats fighting? Brightfalcon says that she just stayed out of it. Her powers are weak enough that she couldn’t have made a difference. Chervilcry sighs. She doesn’t think there’s any cat powerful enough to get between them if they start fighting. Rosemaryquake (62) feels uneasy around Moorleg (16). She just gets this cold feeling whenever the young cat is around. Is Moorleg up to something? In the healer's den, Graysong (17) is trying to bond with his little sister, Needlepaw (7). He tells a secret about Flurrypelt (17) to her, and she tells him that Brightfalocn likes her better than him. Whelp. That bonding session didn’t go as planned.

Moon 26-Newleaf

The Clan had a big scare this moon. Things seemed to be looking up, with Nightingaletree (115) and Shadestar (121) feeling better, but then Shadestar ate some rotten prey, got sick, and died. Temporarily, of course. But it was still scary. No one’s sure who brought the prey back, but they’re worried that someone was trying to kill their dark-cursed leader. It is believed that a dark-cursed leader’s life goes to the dark forest when they lose one, so cats are wary of Shadestar, at first, but, after a while, it becomes clear that she’s acting normally and she regains their trust. Nightingaletree does not want to lose her mate, and has taken to discreetly tasting Shadestar’s food for her. Stormrush (38) and Stonepaw (9) have been bonding, and even went on an unauthorized night hunting patrol together. Shadestar losing a life made Skydawn (95) acutely aware that she could become leader. It’s a little scary to think about.

Moon 22-Leaf-bare

At the gathering this moon, Nightingaletree (111) and Shadestar (117) proved to the other Clans that they make a powerful couple. The other cats were making negative comments about dark-cursed cats, so Nightingaletree and Shadestar pranked them. They used their fire powers to scare the other Clans (safely-Shadestar also has water powers) and after that no one dared to make a comment. ElementClan has to keep up its dark reputation somehow. Bushmask (32) wanted to sleep in instead of going on a Dawn patrol today, so Nightingaletree covers his spot, still watching out for her former apprentice. She’s a bit worried about how isolated he’s been from the rest of the Clan lately. On the other paw, Stormrush (34) is getting along great with Shadestar and fitting into the Clan much better than her brother. Brightfalcon (65) has also been bonding with Egretshell (118), and gives him a bit of fluff that reminds her of him. She’s also been checking in on Bushmask. Maybe the closed off Healer is finally coming out of her shell a bit. With the Clan continues to dote on Yuccakit (1), she’s getting a bit of a big head. It annoys Bushmask, and he’s complaining that she never does anything actually useful. The other cats ignore him. He does like Chervilkit (1), for some reason, though. Icyglint also likes Chervilkit. The little kit is just very sweet and is always checking in on others. The presence of new kits in the Clan has Skydawn (91) feeling a little down. She’s missing Brightshard and has to take the day off. Sunflower (86) covers for her. On top of that, Skydawn is feeling insecure as deputy now that Yuccakit has been born. Could the star-blessed kit replace her as deputy? Should she? Meanwhile, Nightingaletree is playing with Shardkit (1). He’s extremely powerful, especially for one so young, and Nightingaletree is the only one who can keep his water from flooding the camp (using her fire powers). Still, everything is damp in camp this leaf-bare. While on patrol, Nightingaletree finds an abandoned kit named Stonekit (5) and brings him back to camp. She and Shadestar decide to raise him as their own, as they may be too old to have bio kits.

Meta: At this point, I don't think the game had added the adoption function, so there was no actual way for me to set Shadestar and Nightingaletree as Stonekit's adoptive parents.

Moon 19-Leaf-fall

Stormrush’s (30) snake bite has fully healed, although she does have a scar. She doesn’t mind, though. She thinks it makes her look cool. Things are fairly normal in the Clan, despite having a new member. Shadestar (114) and Nightingaletree (108) are still being adorable together, of course. Stormrush and Bushmask (28) are having fun bickering like the young siblings they are. Brightshard (71) had a minor anxiety attack over having a new cat in the Clan, but Skydawn (88) helped her calm down. Icyglint, meanwhile, thinks that Bushmask’s serious nature is cute. He’ll be fun to play with. Egretshell (115) has decided to try and get to know Icyglint better; he can’t mediate if he doesn’t know his clanmates. Nightingaletree is excited to go on a patrol with Icyglint, and, while at the border, they come across a kittypet who joins the Clan. Named Sunflower (83). Nightingaletree isn’t sure that was the outcome she wanted, but. . .oh well. Sunflower does not have any magic.

Moon 18-Leaf-fall

Nightingaletree (107) has a nice chat with Bushmask (27) over his worries that no one in the Clan likes him. She manages to comfort her former apprentice (she hopes) although a part of her feels like she doesn’t know him very well anymore. She went back to her nest and found that Shadestar (113) had left her a gift, cheering her up. Shadestar has also noticed Egretshell’s (114) advances on Nightingaletree and had a talk with him. They seem to have worked it out. For now. As Shadestar ages, she’s feeling the burden of leadership getting heavier. Thankfully, she trusts Skydawn (87) to take over when she’s gone. While on patrol, Shadestar, Brightshard (70), and Bushmask run into a loner who joined the clan. In a relatively rare occurrence for loners, she is blessed with magic: medium strong fire magic. She changed her name to Icyglint upon joining. Nightingaletree is glad to have another fire-blessed cat in the Clan. Although nowhere near as powerful as she is. Shadestar is glad to have a new cat in the Clan. She hopes this new member lasts longer than Coffee did, though.

Meta: I also don't have access to a sprite for Icyglint. I'm pretty sure she's an adult, gray, short-furred, cat with a V-shaped white marking on her neck. And maybe blue eyes? Or maybe that's just the vibe her name is giving me.

Moon 17-Greenleaf

The Clan had a bit of a scare when Stormrush (28) was bitten by a snake. They were all sure she would die. Fortunately, Brightfalcon (60) managed to use a bit of earth magic to remove the venom and Stormrush survived. Brightshard (69) has been spending more time with the leadership lately, and Shadestar helped her groom a hard to reach place. Egretshell (113) seems to have been hitting on Nightingaletree (106) lately. Nightingaletree is oblivious to this, but Brightshard has picked up on it and thinks that Egretshell isn’t very considerate of others. And will most likely end up getting burnt (literally). Brightfalcon is already worrying about the next leaf-bare and wonders if she could borrow catmint from another Clan. Stormrush is on bed rest until she is fully recovered. And she’s sick of it. Meanwhile, Skydawn (86) got her tail mangled by a fox while she was on patrol with Shadestar. She’s a little sad that her tail is injured, but maybe she’ll get a matching scar to Brightshard’s.

Moon 16-Greenleaf

Shadestar (111) and Nightingaletree (105) continue to get along well, with Shadestar appreciating when Nightingaletree does something considerate. Shadestar wonders if she’s too old to have kits with Nightingaletree and asks Egretshell (112) what he thinks (why she went to the mediator and not the Healer, I have no idea). He’s unsure, but says they could try for kits if they want. Brightshard (68) has come to the realization that, as the deputy’s mate, she has a standing in the Clan that she hadn’t had in the past. So, she has decided to try and be a good example for the younger cats. Stormrush (27) recently scented rogues on the territory. She told Shadestar and the leader agreed to keep an eye out for them.

Moon 9-Leaf-bare

Leaf-bare has hit the grotto and the Clan is busy shoveling snow out of their entryway. Nightingaletree (98) was being bossy with Stormrush (20), forgetting that this isn’t her first leaf-bare, and apologizes to her. Egretshell (105) is being his normal, cheerful self and is going around complimenting his Clanmates. Coffee has succeeded in befriending Stormrush. The young warrior admires how brave the former kittypet is, especially for having no powers. Nightingaletree got in a border skirmish while gathering herbs with Brightfalcon (52), and her show of fire powers both wowed Brightfalcon and made her insecure about her own, weak earth powers. She decided to organize the den and grow some more moss on the rocks. She hopes that Shadestar (104) notices her improvements.

Moon 2-Newleaf

Shadestar (97) and Egretshell (98) have noticed that Bushpaw (11) is struggling a bit with being the only apprentice, especially under a tough mentor like Nightingaletree (91). They’ve been checking in on him and making sure he’s doing alright. Meanwhile, Stormrush (13) is a little jealous that Shadestar has been giving her brother so much attention even though she is the one who was made a warrior.

Moon 43-Leaf-fall

This has been a bit of a rough moon for the Clan. A late fire ripped through the Clan’s home. Icyglint was trying to control it when it burned and killed her. Skydawn (113) was also trying to control it, by using both her fire and her water powers, but she couldn’t move fast enough. She inhaled too much smoke and died from it. Peakpaw (11) fought the fire bravely, alongside her mother, and protected Howlkit (2). She feels like Nightingaletree would have been proud of her. Despite grieving the loss of her friend, deputy, and confidant Skydawn, Shadestar (138) knows the Clan needed a deputy and some good news. She appoints Yuccawillow (22) as deputy, as is her right by being star-blessed, despite Yuccawillow not having an apprentice. She will get one as soon as the Clan has kits that are old enough. Additionally, Peakpaw has been given the warrior name of Peakspots of her devotion. A few days after the fire, Stormrush (55) gives birth to a litter of two kits. There’s bossy Rosemarykit (0), who got Brightfalcon’s (86) earth-blessing and so will become the next Healer; and the insecure Antlerkit (0), who inherited Stormrush’s wind-blessing-although she does seem to be more powerful than her mother and managed to mewl herself into the ceiling. Despite the new kits, Stormrush deeply misses Skydawn, who had become her friend. She searches for tasks to do, for cats to comfort, for distractions against the hole in her heart, as she fights to keep the grief from consuming her.
