Three ships: currently obsessed with Askefinn (Vinland Saga); Obikin (Star Wars); BruceDick (Batman/DC) [I think I see a pattern there...]

First ever ship: Harry/Ginny (Harry Potter) probably, but the first one I consumed fanfiction/fanart for was Delena/Klaroline (The Vampire Diaries).

Last song /album: My Goodbye - Jorge Rivera-Herrans [Epic - The Cyclops Saga] -> not even a real musical yet, but already filled with bangers. Also shoutout to @fairyceridwen for introducing me to the band Fish in a Birdcage <3

Last movie: the Lion King II which was surprisingly good for a Disney sequel (which doesn't make it good good, but I watched it for the songs! and for background noise while converting data for my thesis).

Currently reading: The Wolf Age by Tore Skeie (shoutout to @absolutebearings for recommending that book, it's very interesting and well written so far!) and His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik with my book club which is unintentionally hilarious.

Currently watching: Arcane with my bf (I know we're late to the party; it's great, I love the animation style and character design) and Crash Landing on You (I've never seen any K-dramas before but a friend of mine loves them, so I wanted to try one; I enjoy it in a guilty pleasure way so far).

Currently consuming: Nothing, but I drank a cup of chamomile tea recently (I love tea, could drink it all day).

Currently craving: More free time, sleep, and this fucking thesis to be done (with love).

favorite movie: Oh god oh god um. I’m gonna go with God’s Own Country rn but there’s so many I love.

movie that makes you remember your childhood: Literally any of the pokemon movies. I watched so many of those ages 7-12.

favorite tom hanks movie: literally the only Tom Hanks I’ve watched that I can think of is The Polar Express. I also don’t really like The Polar Express so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

movie that makes you cry: I can’t think of one specifically rn but it’s honestly not very hard for media to make me cry

favorite 80’s movie: The Breakfast Club!!!! I fucking love the breakfast club and I honestly couldn’t tell you why.

favorite sports movie: they make movies about sports?? yall dont get enough of that shit on tv already??

favorite comedy: 50 First Dates is like a lame Adam Sandler movie but I watched it quite a bit when I was growing up cause my mom likes it and I still find it enjoyable

favorite animated movie: CASTLE IN THE SKY god i fucking love that movie. If you like ghibli or animated movies and you haven’t seen it yet please do yourself a favor and watch it. fuck if you want a .mp4 of the whole film just let me know and i’ll hook you up. it’s so cute and good.

favorite war movie: i do not enjoy these

favorite horror movie: It Follows, probably! Also feel like I should mention Midsommar - I can’t say I really enjoyed the act of watching it, but I also kinda haven’t stopped thinking about it since I saw it.

favorite gangster movie: what. can I say West Side Story or?

most overrated movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey !!! I don’t care about what big-brained sci-fi critics have to say about how revolutionary this film was or whatever it’s fucking boring and slow as fuck!!!! shitty film!!! why is this a classic!!!

movie with the best soundtrack: Literately any ghibli film scored by Joe Hisaishi imo. Maybe Howl’s Moving Castle if I had to pick one? Merry Go Round of Life is such a banger.

movie you can watch over and over: UGH that applies to so many already on this list. Spirited Away, perhaps? I’m a huge ghibli fanboy if you can’t already tell

most embarrassing movie you love: i’m fucking obsessed with the Evangelion Rebuild movies which is lame of me but there’s just nothing i can do about it.

favorite christmas movie: uhhh i don’t like Christmas films a whole lot but i’ll go with Home Alone!

Modern AU - Attie & Dillion Masterpost

A masterpost on ideas/thoughts I have on what my apprentices, Attie and Dillion, would be like in a Modern AU. Under a cut because there is a lot.

Attie

Plays the drums

Rides a motorcycle

Dresses kind of like a punk but is still one of the nicest people

Likes to wear crop tops

Likes floral patterned clothes/accessories as long as the main color(s) are still dark

Would probably wear lipstick fairly often, but they’d stick with darker or neutral colors. It may be more feminine, but they like the color contrast

Calls Dillion a nerd a lot

Would play a tiefling druid with a nice-ish backstory in D&D

Has a hobby of trying to take really unflattering pictures of Nixie on a regular basis. Nixie doesn’t make it hard

Not really active on social media except for SnapChat

Posts about Nixie a lot

Posts about Dillion when he’ll let them

Doesn’t take a lot of selfies or shows their own face unless with friends

Works at a flower shop and at an animal shelter/pound

Is pretty adept at flower language, so knows what to use for lovey things or secret ‘fuck you’s

Gets too attached to the animals

That’s how she found/adopted Nixie

Has just as many scars

All the stories of how they got them are still the same

Carries around a small butterfly knife after they almost got mugged

That interaction is still how they got the scar along their ribs

As much as they love music, they haven’t been to a concert, but has seen a few theater shows

Keeps all the playbills/tickets for them

Refuses to carry a purse so they use a small backpack instead. They can fit more into it (wallet, EpiPen, make up if wearing, sunglasses, hair ties and pins, jacket or scarf, band-aids, hand sanitzer, etc)

Legally changed their last name to ‘Gray’ as soon as they could

+ College AU

Probably a Technical Theatre major

Joins an improv comedy group and they’re actually really good at it

Forgets to eat

Attie makes it through classes mainly because their body likes to keep them awake and they take in an almost scary amount of caffeine. They don’t like coffee and find other drinks, but they end up getting the same one way too often.

Avoids Greek Life like the plague

Is the person who skateboards across campus on the weekends and low-traffic times because they don’t want to get in people’s way but still wants to move faster

Constantly has headphones on and is either studying or doing homework between classes

Keeps small plants in their room, as long as their roommate is okay with it when they have to share a room

Despite nearly falling out of their bed trying to get down in early mornings, Attie always keeps their bed lofted so they can have more space

Hates horror movies/games and there is nothing anyone can do to make him watch them/play them

Takes candid pictures of Attie on SnapChat and has the running gag of ‘target spotted’ for them

Works as a barista

Knows good drink combos for coffee and such but is hopeless anywhere else

Doesn’t drink too much coffee himself though but likes other drinks at the cafe

Scar on his forehead still came from falling out of a tree

Still broke his leg from the tree too, but doesn’t need a cane as frequently

Still keeps it wherever he’s living just in case

Has been to a few concerts, but they were all more concert band/orchestra ones

Style changes constantly

He wears whatever is colorful and comfortable

Wears a dress shirt and suspenders one day and the next he’s wearing a crop top and jeans

Knows a lot about the local bar scene/where the best places for drinks are on certain nights

Will walk wherever he can to avoid driving

Listens to podcasts when he drives to keep the most of his attention

Has too many of them in his library

Owns too many sunglasses

Still sneezes every time he walks out of a building because of the light change

+College AU

Probably an Education major

Falls asleep in almost every building he has class in and in the student union; falls asleep on his backpack to prevent people from stealing it

Is in like ten clubs but only frequents two or three

Gets all of his work done and seems pretty put-together but is actually stressed 24/7

Dillion makes it through classes by taking so many naps, on-campus and off-campus. He can fall asleep almost anywhere and being in public doesn’t really stop him.

Makes friends with all of his roommates and at least two people in each class

Goes to his professor’s offices hours at least once to introduce himself; frequents more often if he likes the class

Sits outside in grassy areas when it’s nice outside

Anytime a group has a dunk tank to promote their group or event, he doesn’t care too much what the group is, but Dillion’ll pay to try and dunk somebody

VERSE. SECRETS OF THE DEEP

so, this is an au to my Rikki and follows the canon of Mak.o M.ermaids. When Rikki appeared in the s3 finale, very little was talked about her backstory. This is where I come in.

PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS IS MOSTLY ME TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF WHAT LITTLE LOGIC THERE IS IN M.AKO M.ERMAIDS SO THIS IS DEFINITELY PRONE TO CHANGE AS I SEE FIT

The pod was at Mako when Rikki, Emma, and Cleo went to Mako Island and became mermaids. They didn’t have anyone guarding the moon pool because nobody ever goes out to Mako Island save for some tourists they scare away.

They find out immediately that not one, but THREE land girls had fallen into the moon pool and became mermaids. However, they were land GIRLS not BOYS, so mermaids are better than mermen (aka mermen threatened to wipe out all the mermaids when they were fighting centuries ago) but still a no-no. The pod, rather than trying to trouble themselves in removing all three girls’ tails, decide to simply up and leave Mako. Hence, they and the girls never actually crossed paths. And since there were no guardians of the moon pool in the first place, no one was to blame, and no one was banished.

Events of H.2O unfold.

It is after the series finale where Rikki’s “even mermaids move on” applies. First, it started with Emma. When Emma traveled the world, she never really came back to the Gold Coast. They all tried to stay in contact but it got hard, for all of them.

Next was both Cleo and Bella. Both were accepted into universities and went immediately following graduation. Cleo and Bella went to separate universities, studying separate things, and these universities were not in the Gold Coast.

And that leaves Rikki, who chose not to continue schooling and instead join the workforce. She did not go back to her cafe. Zane tried and failed to win her back. Their relationship never really improved since the series finale and they stopped talking altogether only about a year afterward.

As for the mermaids, it got hard for everyone’s schedules to line up and everyone to be in town all at the same time. While at university, both Cleo and Bella had made new friends in their majors/dorms/all over college campuses. Of course, they weren’t purposefully trying to replace each other, but these things just happened naturally. They started forming new interests and they liked where they were at.

And then you have Rikki, who actually really sucks at making new friends. I mean seriously. If she, Emma, and Cleo didn’t all become mermaids together, Rikki wouldn’t have made friends with them or anyone else for that matter. Rikki also didn’t know what she wanted her career to be. She tried a bunch of different jobs for years and nothing stuck. Until finally, she moved out of the Gold Coast to try to find a job that she loves. By this time, all of her relationships from the people she’s met in h2.o have deteriorated. Also, Mako Island got really freaking lonely for just one mermaid.

Speaking of, after graduation, the Mako pod felt it was dire to return to their island after the events of h.2o. The coast was clear and the land girls were gone, leaving island open for them to inhabit. Immediately upon returning, the Mako pod appointed guardians of the moon pool to protect it from land girls (aka Sirena, Lyla, and Nixie). They also used magic to “clean up” the moon pool and seal off its land entrance as added security.

Rikki finally started making real money when she started finding lost treasures in the ocean. But she still wasn’t happy. That’s when she met Mr. Singh, who offered to be Rikki’s agent. He inspired Rikki to donate her pieces and start writing about them and actually talking about their histories. Rikki was actually interested in doing this because she loves talking about her underwater adventures but hasn’t been able to since she’s grown apart from all of her friends. Finally, a career Rikki was thoroughly happy with! She’s successful, she gets to travel the world (something she’s always longed to do), and she’s finally starting to feel happy.

But still, Rikki is deeply lonely. Her trips to Gold Coast are infrequent because she simply misses her friends and adventures from there so much. Of course, Rikki denies her feelings like she always does and tries to convince herself that she’s in a good place. She mostly goes to visit her father and occasionally to put up her exhibits. The locals adore her because she truly is a local “rags to riches” story.

Meeting Ondina, Weilan, and Mimmi reminded the mermaid of her friends and their adventures. She was painfully reminded of the sisterhood they once shared and at first, she was hostile at them for it. But then, they pursued her for her help against a Water Dragon, and Rikki’s heart softened. She was motivated to reach out to the OG mermaid club and try to rekindle that sisterhood.

However, Rikki did form a new, strong friendship with Ondina, Weilan, and Mimmi and they found a mentor/older sister figure in her. They keep in touch often, Rikki does meet the pod some time later and becomes an “honorary member” for contributing to the defeat of the Water Dragon. The pod at first did not realize Rikki was one of the 3 girls who fell in the moon pool all those years ago until Rikki shared her story. If Rikki did not help save the pod by getting the bracelet, she prollie would have been kicked out immediately. However, Viridia’s heart has softened during the events of MM and acknowledges what Rikki has done for them and the island. Rikki is eager for the day to come when she can introduce Cleo, Emma, and Bella to the pod.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN AU VERSE FOR MY RIKKI. THE CANONS OF H.2O AND MA.KO M.ERMAIDS ARE VERY DIFFERENT AND DON’T MATCH UP SO THIS IS MY META ON THE MAK.O MERM.AIDS CANON.

perhaps in the future, h.2o and ma.ko mermai.ds will be properly lined up in the upcoming movie, but i am doubtful and i will, for the most part, be sticking to this as Rikki’s story with MM. You don’t have to agree with this and it’s definitely prone to change, which i will properly update.
