For the ask thing … np 💗💗💗
NP... thank you i was hoping someone would ask this one i have a LOT to say. clocking in to my shift at the she/her-ing male professional athletes factory
First impression
first impression was Wow Pretty but also i was not a flyers appreciator at the time so i was like well. okay. whatever. it was right around the time of the vegas trade and i was doubly not a vegas appreciator so even tho she was sooo gorg i wasn't super invested. also at one point between like getting into hockey and getting into tknp i made a joke tweet abt how we need an nhl player who listens to car seat headrest and one of my mutuals was like "we already have that it's nolan patrick" and that was like... a flame held to my soul. the interest really sparked there
Impression now
my best friend. my beaft. i think she is wildly misunderstood by a lot of people but the people who Get It really and truly get it... she's a princess she's just some guy she's a bitch she's a lover she's a child she's a mother she's a sinner she's a saint. i love it when girls are kind of mean and love to lie and get embarrassed over the tiniest things like having normal human emotions and they actually care so much despite trying really hard to look like they don't care <3 i love that she's very like... very guarded and reserved (or attempts to be) but also sometimes you catch moments of her like not being able to help her reactions. betrayed by your own fond smiles and blushy cheeks!!! i also think she is much sillier than we give her credit for and that is underutilized. locker room dance you will always be famous
Favorite moment
aforementioned locker room dance... "dove original. it's ladies"/"it's not ladies. but it is dove original.".... all of her old tweets especially "now THATS a sandwich people".... "don't ask about my rosy cheeks".... also signing nico's name at the draft. are you gay or something
Idea for a story
it's a cop out to say vip room so i will say i have a silly little draft going about computer repair secretary tk and Watching Gay Porn About His Sexuality Crisis nolpat that is making me giggle alyssa edwards style as i write it
Unpopular opinion
SHE IS FINEEE SHES NOT SAD SHES NOT CRYING HERSELF TO SLEEP EVERY NIGHT we need to put an end to the nolan patrick sadposting industrial complex. she is living her life. she's hanging out w friends. and the trade was actually a good thing! philly was kind of a terrible place for him to be w all his injuries and stuff because their doctors were shit and there were a lot of issues w privacy and stuff and people just being kinda mean about him that imo was unproductive! a fresh start is a good thing! even if it means you have to leave your weird little soulmate haven't you guys ever heard of phone sex. also yeah estrogen would fix her
Favorite relationship
i am obviously a tknp diehard til i die like absolutely perfect vibes. my exact type of pairing i always fall for. that being said the nico nolan dynamic was sooo good to me she was really out there blushing and giggling in front of god and everyone trying to get a good grade in Making A Cute Boy Laugh. and she DID!
Favorite headcanon
i know he lies about not enjoying a fruity little cocktail. i know it in my heart. get the lychee martini nolan it's FINE

Earned- N. Patrick
Tumblr media
a/n: This one gets angsty, oops. I’m on a NolPat thing right now, but when are we not? I’m honestly enjoying writing again, so I hope you guys enjoy this one!
warnings: angst, mentions of sex/oral sex, swearing, divorced parents, drinking (i think that’s it)
------
Nolan loved his friends and family, hockey, and even on occasion Travis Konecny. This was enough for him. He had his close-knit group that he surrounded himself with and that was all he needed. It’s not that he avoided getting attached to people, he just hadn’t found anyone that he felt was worth getting attached to. He was young and focused on his career. Love would come eventually. He just didn’t realize how soon ‘eventually’ would be until he met you.
You met Nolan at a Post Malone concert. Your friend Grace had gotten tickets through her job and you couldn’t just say no to floor seats for Posty. Your seats just so happened to be right next to Nolan, Travis, and Kevin Hayes. You recognized the hockey players instantly, but your best friend just recognized that TK was hot and definitely checking her out.
By the time Post was ending his show Grace was agreeing that the two of you would join the boys at a bar around the corner. You weren’t planning on going home with anyone that night, but Nolan Patrick was flirting with you and you were a woman of opportunity. So, you found yourself going home with a Flyers forward while your friend went home with another.
Grace was your polar opposite. She was an undying optimist, bubbly, and most notably a romantic. You on the other hand considered yourself a dedicated realist who was levelheaded and decisive. The thought of finding someone to spend the rest of your life with almost made you laugh.  You had no interest in settling for a mediocre relationship that would eventually combust or at best, just fizzled out.
The first night you went home with Nolan was supposed to be the only night you went home with Nolan, but just like the tale as old as time, it was far from a one time occurrence. Grace and TK kept seeing each other and their big personalities actually seemed to mesh well. Grace was happy and you were happy that she was happy. What you weren’t totally sure about was that their blossoming relationship meant you found yourself in the same room as Nolan more often than not. A couple of drunken nights together turned into a habit neither one of you seemed to mind.
Nolan was just as aloof as you when it came to romanticism. That was what you told yourself was the reason why you kept letting yourself fall into his bed every weekend. When he started texting you to come over out of the blue instead of your usual drunken hookups you decided it was time to lay down the law.
“Ok, so just to be clear, because I don’t want to be the reason for any broken hearts and more importantly, I don’t need any lost Flyers games weighing on me, this is just sex. Like we’re not going to be those stupid kids that say it’s just sex but then end up falling madly in love. I don’t do that, and from what I’ve gathered, you don’t do that either. So, if this is going to happen again, or keep happening, then it’s strictly business.”  You’re barely even looking at Nolan as you explain your position. He had quite aggressively ripped your clothes from your body when you arrived at his place tonight and you can’t seem to locate your second sock as you scour his room.
Nolan was still laying naked on his bed, catching his breath, as he watched you in your adopted routine of rushing out of his apartment. He had met girls who were okay with a quick hookup with a famous NHL player, but you were different. You were bold and definitive. You weren’t here because he’s famous, you were here because the sex was good, and that’s why Nolan was here too.
Nolan didn’t make a habit out of hooking up with the same girls more than a couple of times, max. If you hadn’t been so good in bed and so open to just having sex, he probably wouldn’t have entertained the idea at all. You couldn’t deny that having Nolan between your legs a few times a week wasn’t a good thing. In fact, it was a great thing.  Nolan might not spend much time talking, but he definitely knows how to use his mouth. You both left each other at the end of the night tired and satisfied, and that didn’t seem like a bad thing.
“Mkay. I promise I won’t fall in love with you. My track record is pretty good, so if you need references, I can probably get you their numbers. They probably wouldn’t be thrilled about you calling to ask them about how I’m a heartless asshole, but you can give it a swing.” You can’t help but laugh as your brain deciphers the mumbles that just came from the half sleeping body in front of you.
The second or third time you hung out with the boys you were at a party. You were teasing Nolan about all the girls who were trying so hard to get his attention, and he replied that they probably wouldn’t try so hard if they knew how their short lived fling would end.  He had a bad habit of accidentally leading girls on, thinking they were on the same wavelength but then being met with a pissed off girl who thought “they had something special.”
“Perfect. And if you somehow end up falling for my stunning good looks and amazing personality, just do me a favor and let me know so I can run for the hills.” And with that you gave him a wink and were out the door. Nolan couldn’t hold in the laugh that fell from his lips as he continued to take in the personality you had begun to share with him.
—————
It’s been two months since the two of you settled your business deal and things were good. Grace and TK had made it official and she insisted on bringing you with her to team gatherings and games. You and Nolan went over to each other’s places when the other called or texted, and the sex was still as good as it was the first time.
The two of you developed a friendship and your post sex talks began to last a little longer on topics that were just a little deeper than the time before. Nolan would ask you about the douche that likes to hit on you at work and you would ask him how hockey was going.  Then he told you about his sisters and and eventually told you a little more about his migraines. When it felt right you would ask him questions that he always provided thoughtful answers to. Nolan Patrick was much more pensive than you initially thought. To be honest you hadn’t really given his personality much thought at all, but as you got to know him you realized his aloof exterior was maybe just misinterpreted.
To his surprise Nolan genuinely liked spending time with you. Unlike most people, you weren’t constantly urging him to be “more social” or outgoing, and even though you were using each other’s bodies for sex, you weren’t greedy. You didn’t ask too much of him or expect certain things because of who he was. He felt like he could breathe around you because he wasn’t constantly trying to satisfy any unattainable expectations.
Even when he talked to you about hockey, he felt like he was just talking about any old 9-5 job; zero pressure to perform for you. You would ask him how it was going even though you already watched the games, and you would let Nolan guide the conversation to where he was comfortable. In many ways Nolan did the same for you. He didn’t press about why you didn’t have a boyfriend or why you didn’t want one. He did query over why you gracefully steered the conversation away from your family. He didn’t pry into things that were too personal, that for some reason, so many people thought they were entitled to.
There was a level of respect present between you that neither of you had experienced with anyone else. In both of your past relationships people always wanted to go fast, immediately trying to see if you were compatible. You and Nolan were just friends having sex with no other expectation, and somehow that allowed the two of you to slowly peel back each other’s layers.
You were oblivious to all of this until one night when your post sex talk didn’t come after sex. It came before. Well, actually the conversation came but neither of you did that night. You were at Nolan’s after a game that hadn’t gone as well as they had hoped. He was tired and you could see it in his eyes. Instead of jumping each other’s bones as soon as he greeted you at the door, you cracked a bottle of wine and settled on the couch.
It was nice. It was two friends having conversation over a bottle of wine. You didn’t talk about hockey or work; it was just talking about nothing. You talked about the lady who gave you one of her extra coupons at the grocery the other day. He explained how he made a sweater once in home ec. ( You’re still not sure if you believe him.)
A couple of hours later, and halfway into your second bottle of wine, Nolan’s curiosity got the best of him.
“So, is there a reason you’re so anti relationship or are you just a serial heart breaker like me?”
Once he asked the question, he realized that he probably shouldn’t have. You hadn’t talked about it before and that probably meant you didn’t want to. You were surprised but his smug joke still made you laugh. Normally you would be a little annoyed by the question, but you felt like you knew Nolan. You knew he wasn’t just trying to get to the juicy part, he just genuinely wanted to know, so you told him.
“Well, if you must know, I am most definitely a serial heart breaker, but that’s just a result of why I’m not thrilled about relationships, not the actual why.”
You take a breath before going on, “My parent’s marriage was horrible. They fought constantly and I don’t think I ever saw them genuinely happy together. They insisted on staying together. Their families, my grandparents, were both pretty ‘well-to-do’ and I’m pretty sure my parents were just staying together to save face with them and their circle of rich friends. I’m not sure why, because none of their marriages seemed any different. They’re all divorced now, and remarried to even shittier people. But before that, it became more of a game than anything else. — it started getting bad when I was in middle school.”
You look out the window in front of you. Through it, you can see the city of Philadelphia. A city you came to for college, with the hopes of leaving your old life behind.
“My mom started to go out to the country club and wherever else, and then she’d come home in the middle of the night, drunk, after doing god knows what or god knows who. My dad would go on business trips just to get away, and I’m pretty sure he was cheating on my mom too at that point. I never really saw them, and when I did they were always fighting. We didn’t have fun holidays and if my brother wasn’t there no one was in the stands cheering me on at my soccer games. Hell, by that point I preferred no holidays and no parents at my games. They didn’t care about me or my brother, and once Caleb went off to college I was on my own. I don’t blame him, I got out as fast as I could too. All we had was each other and we were always close. He’s in New York now, and we still talk pretty regularly, but being at home alone sucked, and being home alone with them sucked even more. I wasn’t always so pessimistic; I’ve dated a handful of guys but obviously they never worked out. Then I met a guy in college, and I thought wow this guy is unbelievable. He was perfect— Josh was his name. He was in grad school and he was smart and funny and said all the right things. I was young and naive, and I think I just wanted someone to love me, so I let him. And I let him take advantage of my time and energy. I let him lie to me and I let him cheat on me. And when I finally woke up from whatever trance I was in I realized that I had been looking at the world through rose colored glasses. I promised myself that I was never going to let myself do that again. I wasn’t going to rely on anyone but myself… I wasn’t going to give all of myself to someone just to wait for it to fall apart… The proof was in the pudding, relationships just don’t work, and that is why I’m so anti-relationship.”
You hadn’t looked Nolan in the eyes since you started in on your monologue, afraid that you may have just scared off your friend. Nolan was still taking it all in, reveling over the years of your life you had just laid out for him.
He had grown up in a loving family where his parents did everything they could to give him and his sisters the perfect childhood. They spent every weekend driving around Canada for hockey tournaments. He still talks to his sisters almost every day even though they’re thousands of miles away. His mom insists on carry out whatever holiday traditions she can even with Nolan in Philly. And here you were with a childhood that couldn’t have been more different than his. He didn’t want a relationship because he couldn’t find anyone he felt was worthy of his time and energy, but here you were, closed off to the world because you thought that unconditional love wasn’t real.
He didn’t say anything. There wasn’t anything he could say, so instead he pulled you from your side of the couch to his, where he wrapped you up in his warm arms. You sat like that for a long time, not saying anything, not even moving, just letting him hold you. You didn’t even realize you had started crying until you felt Nolan’s hands wipe away the tears that were staining your face, and that small gently gesture was what made you snap. That’s when it boiled over, when it became too much too fast.
“I’m sorry... God. I shouldn’t have even said anything. And now I’m crying like a fucking idiot. It’s probably just the wine. It’s late, I should get going. Just forget I said anything, ok?”
And just like that you had grabbed your coat, faceted your shoes, and were out the door of his apartment. Nolan’s brain couldn’t keep up with yours and by the time he heard his door slam shut it was too late to tell you that everything was okay.
—————
Nolan tried calling you after that night, but he couldn’t get a hold of you. You couldn’t talk to him. You knew you couldn’t look him in the eyes, because for a couple of seconds you got too comfortable, you let go and let him in. It was a mistake, and Nolan would surely know that too. You had both decided this was just a transaction of sex, nothing more. You were the one who took it past that. You could have just brushed off the question that Nolan was surely regretting now.
Nolan was regretting asking that question, but not because he didn’t want to know. He regretted it because you were gone now, and he didn’t know how to get you back. You had both promised not to fall in love, not to affect each other’s lives, but that’s exactly what happened. Nolan was in love with you.
Kevin had to spell it out for Nolan as he sat on his couch explaining what had happened. Nolan knew he cared about you, but he hadn’t deciphered what that feeling in the pit of his stomach was when he saw you. He couldn’t explain why he had to constantly rub the back of his neck in nervousness when he caught you staring from across the room. He didn’t know what any of it meant.
“Dude. I’m dumb. Like I’m big-Boston-hockey-dude dumb, but you’re an idiot. You’re in love with her man.”
“What? We’re friends, I’m just worried about her.”
“Well, she’s in love with you too.”
“It’s just sex.”
“If you were just friends, and if it was just sex, you guys would be fucking right now, and you wouldn’t be mopping here on Saturday night because she told you about her life and won’t talk to you now. She wouldn’t have told you that shit, and she wouldn’t be ignoring you now if she didn’t have feelings for you. You said it yourself, she doesn’t let people in, but she let you in.”
She let me in. That’s all Nolan could think. Maybe Kevin had a point. Maybe he did love her. Maybe you somehow loved him too. Nolan couldn’t quite wrap his mind around it. A couple days later he was getting more comfortable with all the reasons he loved you, but he still couldn’t figure out why you would love him.
He loved you because you were unwavering, absolute, and even a bit brazen. Over time Nolan had found that underneath that outside shell there was so much more. There was a girl who if you were patient and gentle, she might just let you in a little bit at a time. She unveiled her scars and her wounds, and Nolan was going to do anything he could to help them heal. He didn’t know that the feelings you were denying were nearly identical to the ones he was having right now.
It’s been two weeks since you spoke to Nolan. You had also been ignoring Grace and Travis’ attempts to figure out what the hell was going on. You were telling yourself it was fine, and that everything would blow over. What you didn’t expect to see was a large body sitting in front of your apartment door when you got home from work.
“What are you doing here?” You didn’t meet his eyes as his towering frame rose from the floor. You kept your eyes fixed on your purse as you fished out the keys to your door, and as you stuck them into the door you weren’t sure if you should slam the door behind you or turn to listen to what he had to say.
“I know that you think I’m gonna be like every other guy, and I’m gonna use you or hurt you, and maybe I will, but if you let me try, I’ll try my hardest to never let that happen because it would break me to break you. I don’t need you to give me every piece of yourself right now, I don’t want it right now— “
You scoffed. For an apology or a speech or whatever it was you were listening to, it didn’t seem to be going too well.
“-I don’t want it right now, because I know I don’t deserve it. It has to be earned. Trust is earned and I just want you to give me the chance to earn it. I know what it’s like to feel like you can’t share yourself with people because you think they’ll be disappointed or throw it away because it’s not what they wanted. But that’s not what this is. I’m a huge idiot and I didn’t realize this until recently, but I trust you. I totally and completely trust you. I can’t say that about many people, but I can say that about you. You’ve earned it. I’ve let you into parts of my life and you’ve welcomed them. You brought me closer, and for the first time in a long time I didn’t want to run away. I’m not going to say it, because I know you need time, I know that if we do this, we have to take it slow, but I think you know how I feel about you because you feel the same way about me. Or at least I really really hope you do, because I’m totally falling for you amazing personality and stunning good looks.”
Nolan is practically out of breath after the word vomit that has escaped his mouth. You’re taking it all in. You’re taking him in, and you can’t help but let a smile creep onto your face.  Nolan somehow put everything you didn’t know you needed into words and you still didn’t know what to say, so you didn’t say anything.  Instead, you pulled him close to you and wrapped your short arms around his torso as you felt his own engulf your body. You both melted into each other and for the first time in weeks felt like you could breathe.
Neither of you were sure what was going to happen next, and how this would unfold, but you were willing to give him a chance. You were willing to let him show you what this could be, what you could be together, because you had both earned it.

Lazy Sundays (Schitt’s Creek, David x Patrick)
Lazy Sundays were something that Patrick had initially resisted. Quite forcefully. “David, this is how it starts. Lazy Sundays. Followed by lazy Mondays. And lazy Tuesdays. You get the idea. Eventually we stop going into the store and we die, lazily, on the street.” But David, for his part, had given him an especially effective pursed lip and raised brow, and Patrick knew he’d lost. “Well, maybe…”
David had been delighted, and promised repeatedly that lazy Sundays would stay confined to Sundays only. He stuck to the bargain (mostly) and gradually Patrick grew to love those days, full of unstructured time for things like bingeing TV, puttering around the house, working on music, and sometimes, pure nonsense.
Like this. A very lazy two-person game of Truth or Dare on the couch.
David lay with his head in Patrick’s lap, a wicked smile playing around his mouth. “Truth or Dare?”
“Mmm…” Patrick considered the way David’s head pressed comfortably into his lap, a familiar, solid weight. “A dare might force me to get up off the couch. And I’m pretty happy with my couch situation right now. So, Truth.”
David’s nose scrunched thoughtfully. “I don’t think you’ve ever told me who your first crush was,” he said, only a faint hint of accusation entering his voice. “Quite the omission.”
“That’s a tough one. Everyone always assumed it was this girl in my kindergarten, Ashley A. Just because we were both really good at the monkey bars. A skill I still possess, by the way, not that you’ve ever asked.”
“But she wasn’t your first crush? Oooh, I sense a secret,” David said, reaching up and mussing Patrick’s hair.
“Aw, come on.” Patrick could feel his cheeks flushing. “It’s only a secret because it took me so long to realize it was a crush. I just… I just thought Nolan Ryan and his no-hitters were really, really, um, impressive. I don’t know how long it took me to figure out I thought he was handsome, too.” He remembered it clearly, watching the Rangers on TV, dazzled by the lanky pitcher’s form, the way he moved, how batter after batter struck out against him… that steely gaze, that strong jaw…
”Ahh,” David said. He nodded with pursed lips. “Uh, that’s like, a sports guy, right?”
Patrick grinned, brushing his fingertips against David’s cheek. His husband leaned into his touch. “Baseball player. He was a famous pitcher. Amazing strikeout record, and those seven no-hitters… the record still stands, you know. My dad actually took me to a game in his last season in Toronto. It wasn’t a no-hitter, but seeing him pitch even for a few innings, I was on top of the world.”
“Well, I don’t think I’ll be throwing any no-hitters,” David chuckled. “Especially since you’re never getting me into a baseball uniform again. I still don’t know you how you talked me into that travesty of a garment.”
“Hm, I think you did it because you love me.”
David’s mouth dropped open in an expression of mock horror, shortly before he rose up and wrapped his arms around Patrick, pressing a kiss to his mouth. “Well, obviously, but you don’t have to rub it in.”
Patrick paused. “I kind of do. As your husband, it’s one of my duties. As is reminding you when it’s your turn in Truth or Dare.”
“Oh, fine, Dare. You look like you have something in mind and I’m not gonna lie, I kind of really want to see what it is.”
Patrick gazed soulfully into his husband’s dark eyes. “I dare you… to wear that baseball uniform again.”
David recoiled to the other end of the couch in a split second, his arms flailing wildly, his expression this time real horror. “Ew! Excuse me?”
“I didn’t finish the terms of the dare,” said Patrick, holding up a hand. He winked. “I dare you to wear it… and then take it off again.”
“Oh.” Then, “Oh! Well! Someone’s naughty this lazy Sunday!” He smacked Patrick’s shoulder and bounced off the couch. “So uh, where’s that uniform, again?”
Patrick got to his feet, pulling David into another kiss. “C’mon. Let’s get you to the locker room.”
“Ohhh no no no,” David protested, skidding to a stop and starting to head back to the couch. “No sports innuendo or the deal is off —“
“Fine. No sports innuendo. Only because I love you.” He led David into the bedroom, unable to keep the grin from his face.
Yeah. Lazy Sundays had definitely grown on him.

Top 5 2020
So the amazeballs @fairydustedtheory tagged me, and since she made me, I’m actually doing this. Or my version of it anyway. Hope you’re happy!
Top 5 most popular fics
The coolest wolf in the whole wide world, Sterek. T, 8k. Summary: Stiles is surprisingly good at being a wolf. Like, super good at control, loves the drama of making weird entrances, and determined to try all the things. Because he has to find out what’s different about being a wolf. And Derek is going to be his Yoda, whether he wants to or not. Only Stiles is pretty sure Yoda never smelled this good.
Don’t know how to reach you when you get like this (waiting for you to come home), Sterek. T, 21k. Summary: Senator Talia Hale is going to be the first werewolf president. She is also his mother’s best friend, who’s in desperate need of a friendly mage to help her break the curse on her children. Stiles likes a challenge - and the free vacation in DC for his parents.
Step into the daylight (and let it go), Sterek. M, 14k. Summary: Stiles is a grad student with serious insomnia. So when he sees a stranger in need of help, he thinks it’ll be a good way to alleviate the boredom. How the hell was he supposed to know that the weird guy with the baseball cap was a famous actor (and a fucking werewolf)? He just keeps running into the guy. Coincidence? Stiles thinks not.
Did I mention (that I’m in love with you), Sterek. T, 8k. Summary: Stiles is pretty sure that Derek Hale hates him, judging by the way he disappears from the room the second Stiles enters. Derek is pretty sure that the entire world knows about his crush on Stiles Stilinski, and that’s why he has to avoid him. For once the werewolf thing isn’t even his biggest secret.
Everything mixed up (and baked in a beautiful pie), Sterek. T, 42k (6/6). Summary: Stiles’ friends are more of a pain in the ass than usual around the holiday season. Just because he spends all of his time at his bakery, doesn’t mean he’s unhappy. So hiring a fake boyfriend seems like the perfect, simple solution. Instead Stiles stumbles onto a stupid quest to make Derek Hale happy. But surely that will all work out in time.
Honorable mention: (Fuck you they said) As they threw their threads from their wedding bed, Sterek. M, 96k (9/9). Summary: First Son Stiles Stilinski just accidentally caused an international incident. And apparently the only way to save human-werewolf relations is to marry him off to Prince Derek of Triskele. Stiles is going to need all of his acting skills to make the marriage look real, because the Prince is kind of a fucking asshole.
Top 5 underappreciated fics
In this garden there’s no feeling, Travis Konecny x Nolan Patrick (1119). M, 55k. Summary: Nolan Patrick is a heartless, stone cold son of a bitch, and everyone knows it. Travis Konecny knows it too. He just doesn’t seem to care that the team witch is incapable of having feelings. Except when Travis touches Nolan, there’s a curious warmth, and everything that Nolan was sure he knew puts him and his newly rosy cheeks on very thin ice.
you try on callin’ me baby like trying on clothes, Jonathan Toews x Patrick Kane (1988). T, 4k. Summary: In the heat of the moment, in the midst of a game or a celebration, sometimes the words just slip out. Sure, Patrick totally gets that. But he’s pretty sure that Jonny has no clue he’s been calling him baby in various hockey-related moments. Though, how can he not know? How can Sharpy have noticed before Jonny did? He's going to get so much shit for this the second Kaner dares to confront him about it.
Time may change me (but I can’t trace time), Sterek. T, 9k. Summary: Stiles doesn’t like calling himself a mad scientist, but if the shoe fits… And when his latest experiment has some interesting side-effects, he has to re-evaluate some things. Mostly about how to stop acting like a child and be a better husband. Preferably before the adoption stuff pans out.
You were raised by wolves and voices (every night I hear them howling), Sterek. T, 11k. Summary: A sheltered boy with a reputation for telling tall tales, desperate to see the world and find out what monsters are real. A lone Wolf, ostracized from society as he takes contracts to kill the things that go bump in the night. A Mad Wolf, a Dark Druid, and destiny.
On the creature scratches (it doesn’t know how to get out), Sterek. T, 3k. Summary: The world ended seven years ago, and Stiles has spent seven days on the surface trying to track down a girl who is never going to be the love of his life. But is he actually as unloved as he seems to think he is? (Love and Monsters AU)

Perfect
Author: Nat / @idontgiveaflyinggrayson69
Requested: Yes – Anonymous
Tagging: @going-full-shmoo
Fandom: NHL
Relationship: Established; Nolan Patrick x Reader
Song: Perfect by One Direction
Summary: You were at peace with him, like you had known him since you were young. With you, Nolan wasn’t a second overall pick or holding the future of the Philadelphia Flyers in his hands. He was home.
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: Alcohol
Tumblr media
Ever since he was drafted second overall, Nolan felt the pressure. Everyone had expectations for him. He had to be good, had to prove everyone right, had to carry the weight of being drafted so high, even if he was still just a kid.
He was in the NHL at 18, playing against people who had been in the NHL longer than he had been alive. He was the face of the future for the entire franchise, a franchise with a rich history and a reputation.
That sort of pressure can do things to a person.
So, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that Nolan was more or less absent on social media, that he was quiet, always in the corner. When you’re carrying the weight of an entire city on your shoulders, all you really want to do is disappear. Be no one for a day or two, go back to when you were able to be you again.
And there was no one who made Nolan feel more like himself than you.
He distinctly remembers TK telling him that a party was not the place to meet a girl for anything longer than a night. The party scene was for fun and being able to enjoy the fame and pride of Philly. It was for drinking and celebrating, not for “lovely dovey horseshit,” as TK had said with a laugh and a shake of his head.
But that was how he met you.
They beat the Penguins. In regulation too. Everyone was so excited, so pumped up on adrenaline. Those were the kind of nights when they ended up on the town, bars or clubs, or a teammate somehow ended up being able to throw a legit party within ten minutes of the game being over. How someone could ever do that was beyond Nolan, but he just tried not to think about it. Somethings were better left unanswered.
Nolan let TK wrap his arm around his shoulder and tug him into the car. TK was driving, where to Nolan didn’t know. It was discussed in the locker room but he wasn’t paying attention, his mind was elsewhere, playing the game over and over in his head, going over his every shift. He didn’t even know they had arrived at their destination until TK gave his thigh a pat.
“You okay, Pat?” TK asked softly. Nolan was his best friend, and he was young. He wanted to make sure Nols was okay and not getting stuck in his head like he was known to do.
“Fine.” Nolan answered and got out the car.
Everything after that was a blur. It was a club. There were drinks in his hand. Shots. Beer. Something that was green. The music was pounding, he knew his teammates were dancing or drinking. There was a faint chug! Chug! Chug! in the background, but all he could think of was the fact that he had zero points on the night, and he was a whooping -3.
Everyone here was celebrating and he didn’t think there was anything to celebrate.
“Hey,” someone said, sliding into the booth across from him. He looked up, surprised to see someone he didn’t recognize: you.
“Hi?” He answered hesitantly. He really was not in the mood to deal with fans. He honestly didn’t think that he could deal with a fan right now, he just didn’t have the mental or emotional capability for it.
“Everyone here is having fun. Then there’s you.” You said to him with a twitch of your lips. If he was being honestly, that was probably the moment you had him. He was always able to play things off for his teammates, but somehow he was an open book to a complete stranger.
“Who said I wasn’t having fun?” He asked with a slight laugh.
“You’re sitting alone in a booth in the corner of the bar and every time one of your friends ask you to dance or whatever, you shrug them off.” You replied, giving him an honest smile.
“Are you stalking me?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
You shook your head with a laugh. “No, I’m just a woman in a bar feeling like how you look.”
The smile Nolan gave you was the first genuine smile he had given anyone all day. “Well, if you’re just a woman in a bar, then I guess I’m just a man in a bar.”
“I guess so,” you smiled.
You and Nolan spent the rest of the night talking, and by the end of it, you had exchanged numbers. You were “Girl from the bar” in his phone and he was “Guy from the bar” in yours.
You guys texted a lot. Like a lot. Every day for hours to be accurate. But, neither of you exchanged names, and you had no idea that the guy you spent the better part of your day talking to was a famous hockey player. All you knew was that he was fun to talk to, someone who got you, and someone who seemed to harbor a couple skeletons in his closet.
Eventually both of you shared your names and you realized who you were talking to. His profession or status didn’t mean anything to you and it didn’t change the way you talked to or treated Nolan, and that was like a weight lifted off his shoulders. After that, you guys met up in person a lot, but it was only ever to his place or yours.
You would just spend the evening on Nolan’s couch just laughing at what he was saying or whatever story he was telling. You were at peace with him, like you had known him since you were young. And Nolan felt the same way. With you, he wasn’t a second overall pick or holding the future of the Philadelphia Flyers in his hands. He was home.
He felt like Nolan.
The relationship between the two of you grew with time and it just felt right to take the step from friends to more. He had your heart from the first night in the bar. He took your breath away in a way you didn’t know possible, and you kept him steady and sure in a way he didn’t think a person could.
You were perfect for each other.
Yet, you were a secret. His teammates didn’t know about you, let alone the world. Your dates were take in, your rendezvous happened under the cover of night. You were his and his alone. It wasn’t that Nolan was ashamed of you or anything like that, it was that you were his island of silence in a sea of sound. You were his home, his place of comfort and peace. He couldn’t just throw you to the wolves the way he had been.
Between the way he felt about the way he was treated and how he saw the other WAGs were treated, he couldn’t do that to you. He couldn’t. So, all your time, love and troubles happened under the cover of night and behind the closed doors of his apartment.
And that was where you were now, behind the closed doors of his apartment. It was late, Nolan had a couple days off so you were spending them with him. It was March and the night was clear so you couldn’t help but open the windows to let the cool night breeze in.
You smiled to yourself as your skin broke out in goosebumps.
“Aren’t you cold?” Nolan asked softly when he came back into the living room and saw you by the window.
“No,” you answered honestly and closed your eyes to take in the noise of downtown Philadelphia. You couldn’t explain it, but the sound of the traffic and muffled conversations in the backgrounds were peaceful. And the breeze was welcoming after your day inside. “It’s a nice night.”
Nolan leaned on the wall and stayed quiet for a couple moments before he suggested something that caught you by surprise. “Do you want to go for a drive?”
“Hmm?” You asked, unsure if you had heard him. Nolan wasn’t one to go out if he didn’t have to, and he definitely wasn’t one to go out with you.
“Do you want to go for a drive? It is a nice night.” He said again, a smile playing on his lips.
“Yeah, yeah I think that would be nice.” You answered.
“Perfect.” He said and grabbed his keys, his arm going around your shoulders as the two of you left his apartment and headed to the garage.
There was no destination for your drive. It was Friday night and Nolan wasn’t playing Saturday and the weekend meant you didn’t have classes. So, you just got to spend time with Nolan as he drove through the streets of Philadelphia, one hand on the steering wheel, the other on your thigh.
The lights from building signs, bars, and street and traffic lights were a bright, welcome contrast to the darkness of the night and paired well with the soft hum of music coming from the radio. You couldn’t help but roll down the window. You and Nolan were both wearing hoodies, it wasn’t like it was too cold.
“What are you doing?” Nolan laughed, the florescent lights matching the happiness reflecting in his eyes. You smiled at him and stuck your hand out the window, feeling the cool air between your fingers as you drove. Your other hand moved to the stereo, turning the volume up.
“I’m being happy.” You replied before you started to sing along with the song on the radio.
Nolan turned to you for a second and in that moment he had everything he wanted. Everything he needed. He wasn’t Nolan Patrick, a rising star in the NHL, he wasn’t even hockey player, he was Nolan. Just Nolan.
And he was perfect.

Girls Back Home - Nolan Patrick
Requested?  Y  /  N  “Could you do #66 from your prompt list with Nolan Patrick?”
Prompt: (#66) "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?"
Warning: Smut
WC: 1,128
Tumblr media
He was the new guy on the team. Drafted by the Flyers as number two overall. He was a pretty big deal, to say the least.
You, on the other hand, were a whole other type of famous. The Philadelphia Flyers knew a lot about you, especially the rookies. However, you weren’t well known by the other teams or their fanbases, and that was fine by you.
When you first met Nolan, the two of you hit it off extremely well. You two learned that you had a lot more in common than you originally thought. Over the past few weeks that Nolan had been up with the Flyers, you had gotten to know him fairly well. However, both of you knew that you weren’t done with him quite yet.
It was about a half hour after the game ended. The media was in the locker room, trying to conduct interviews with whatever guy they could. Meanwhile, you were down the hall from the locker room entrance, the same spot that you would meet whatever guy you were going to hook up with at the time.
The door to the locker room swung open, and all of the reporters walked out. That only meant Nolan was going to be coming out soon. You didn’t have to wait long before the locker room doors swung open again. This time, you immediately recognized the person walking out as Nolan.
He walked down the hall in your direction, but it wasn’t until a few moments later until he noticed you were there. However, when Nolan did see you, his face instantly lit up. He quickened his step until he reached you.
“Great job out there Nols,” You said as you opened your arms for a hug
Nolan shrugged before accepting your hug “It was an alright game, I guess”
“Are you kidding?” You questioned “You had a goal and two assists”
“Okay yeah, I guess it was a pretty good game for me”
The two of you began to walk down the hall towards the exit of the Wells Fargo Center. Your fingers were intertwined with his as you two walked a comfortable pace. That is until you suddenly stopped and pulled him into another hallway.
“What are you-?” He began to ask but got cut off
“Have I ever told you how handsome you are?” You asked him
“Uh...no…” He answered, clearly confused as to what you were doing.
You lowered your head quickly “I’m sorry, it’s just that,” You began as you lifted your head “It’s just that ever since I met you I haven’t been able to take my eyes off of you”
Nolan didn’t respond. Instead, he cupped your face in his hands and pressed his lips against yours. To say the least, you were surprised. Usually, you were the one to kiss the guy first, not the other way around. Almost as quickly as he kissed you, he pulled away.
“I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me, I just-.” He began but got cut off
You pressed your lips against his again to cut him off. Unlike the quick kiss that you two had before, this one was longer and more passionate. After you pulled apart, a soft smile formed on your lips, and Nolan quickly returned it.
“Do you wanna take this back to my place?” Nolan whispered and you nodded in response.
The two of you walked out of the Wells Fargo Center and got in his car. At first, the car ride was silent, neither of you saying a word to each other. As Nolan drove, you couldn’t help but sneak glances at him every once in a while. Though when you guys reached a red light, he would do the same thing. During one of your quick glances, you realized that Nolan was already looking at you.
“What?” You asked him
He shook his head “Nothing, you’re just gorgeous”
You felt the blood rush to your cheeks and you lowered your head a little so that you were looking at your lap. “Thanks” you muttered
The two of you ended up back at Nolan’s apartment, and as soon as you got through the door, you picked up where you had left off. Your lips instantly collided with his and the two of you began to take off each other’s clothes.
He lifted you up and carried you into his bedroom before setting you down on his bed. Carefully, he unzipped your dress and slowly looked up and down your body.
“Holy shit” He murmured “I haven’t seen all of you and you’re already gorgeous”
You couldn’t help but give him a soft smile as you removed what was left of his clothes, which was only his boxers. Now, he was clearly visible, all of him. When you saw it, a small smirk played on your lips.
Nolan made eye contact with you as if he was asking for permission to continue. You nodded, showing him that you were comfortable with him doing this. He unclasped your bra and then reached into his bedside drawer and pulled out a condom package. After quickly opening it, he slipped it on and then moved his hands so they were on the hem of your underwear. He then pulled them down, exposing you to the outside world.
Seconds later, you felt him enter. Instinctively, you put your hands on his back, preparing for what was about to happen. His thighs touched yours and you let out a sigh.
“Are you okay?” Nolan asked
You nodded “Yeah, I’m fine”
Nolan pumped at a much slower pace than you thought he would. However, you didn’t mind it at all. There was something different about the way he did it, but you liked that. Both of you were close to reaching your high, and as you got closer and closer to it, you couldn’t help but dig your nails down his back.
“Fuck Y/N” Nolan muttered
“What? Do the girls back home not touch you like I do?” You questioned and he shook his head
The two of you eventually reached your highs and came back down from them much faster than you built up to them. By the time you two had settled down, both you and Nolan were almost completely out of breath. Neither of you had any idea why since neither of you had been rough, but you both were.
Once you guys caught your breath, the two of you hopped into the shower to get cleaned off. Nolan loaned you some of his clothes that you would end up keeping, and both of you drifted off to sleep into his bed.

Blush- Nolan Patrick
Tumblr media
Thank you so much to the anon for this request! I’ve been busy with moving so it took me a while to finish but it’s finally done and I hope you like it!!
‘can I request a Nolan Patrick imagine where you meet the team for the first time and they say something like "you're the one who's been giving him all those hickies" or something and he blushes like crazy and they tell you he doesn't shut up about you, like ever?‘
Warnings: some minor suggestive language like barely pg-13
Word count: 1061
enjoy!
Although you had seen all the guys a bunch of times, usually on tv or on the ice, you were pretty nervous about finally meeting Nolan’s teammates. Claude Giroux decided to throw a little get together for team and Nolan insisted on you coming with him. You didn’t take much convincing honestly, although you were nervous you were also really excited. Nolan seemed to like his teammates and hockey was such a big part of his life it was definitely something you wanted to be a bigger part of too. The party wasn’t going to be anything fancy but you still tried to look kind of nice, putting more effort into your make-up and clothing choices than you usually did. Nolan was waiting out on your couch as you go ready, but was apparently getting a little inpatient because you heard him walk into your bedroom.
“(y/n) are you almost ready?” he didn’t sound too annoyed but you could tell he was a little antsy.
“Yeah yeah one second!” you call from your bathroom. After some finishing touches on your hair you meet him in your room.
“Hmm you look so good.” he says grabbing you by the waist and pulling you in for a kiss.
“Well thank you” you say pulling away, “But don’t we have somewhere to be?”
He pouts a little but nods, “You’re right let's get going.”
By the time you get there pretty much everyone has shown up. The Giroux kitchen is filled with snacks and drinks,  the dining room filled with hockey players and their significant others sitting and standing around chatting. You feel your heartbeat pick up as you get closer to the group, and you feel like you might jump out of your skin with nerves.  Nolan notices your anxiety so he grabs your hand and squeezes it. You smile at him, it does make you feel a little bit better. Nolan doesn’t seem to be too nervous and is quick to introduce you to all of his teammates/friends.
“Nice to see you finally made it!” a guy you’re pretty sure is Travis chirps when the two of you make it over to the group.
Nolan just rolls his eyes and introduces you to everyone in the room. They’re all very nice, smiling and shaking your hand, some of the girls even jumping up to give you a hug, Your nerves were all but gone at the warm reception you were receiving. You and Nolan are able to find some seats and join in on the group conversation. It quickly changes from whatever they had been talking about to the new addition to the party.
“It’s so nice to finally meet the person who’s been giving Nolan here all those hickeys” Travis chirps (again). You have to stop yourself from spitting out the drink you had happened to be in the middle of taking a sip of and you hear the other guys snickering. You look over at Nolan and his face is becoming a bright red color.
“Well I certainly hope that’s me!” you chirp back, feeling much more confident than you thought you would.
Nolan is next to you just kind of stuttering and continuing to turn red. You yourself are also blushing a little, but you’re not upset by the comment.
“It can’t possibly be anyone else because you’re all he ever talks about.” adds your party host Giroux.
That comment makes you blush and you’re not totally sure what to say.
“ Yeah it’s really is nice to have a face to put to ‘the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him’” adds another face you don’t totally recognize.
You turn and look at Nolan and you don’t think he could be blushing any harder if he tried. It honestly pretty adorable even though you know he hates it.
“I didn’t realize you talked about me so much Nolan” you say playfully nudging him with your elbow.
“It’s not even that much.” he responds kind of mumbling and you can’t help but smile.
“Okay okay enough making fun of the poor boy he’s going to turn into a tomato” Claude says grinning at the two of you.
Nolan is frowning but you can tell he’s happy that you’re getting along with his teammates. The conversation shifts to vacations in warm tropical places and you zone out a little thinking about how great it would be to go to a tropical place with your boyfriend.
The night goes better than you could have ever imagined. Embarrassing Nolan aside (or because of that honestly) you had gotten along with everyone all night. You felt really comfortable with them, and you were really glad Nolan had finally brought you along to meet everyone. As the night started to wind down you suggested to Nolan that you should probably head out. You were standing next to him in the kitchen, snacking and chatting with some of Nolan’s teammates and their WAGs. Once you notice the time you lean over and whisper in his ear so no one else can hear.
“How about you take me home and we’ll see about some more of those hickies you’re so famous for?”
Before he can say anything Nolan turning pink and you can’t help but smile.
“Uh we’ve got to go,” Nolan says rushing his words together “Schoolnightandeverythingyaknow”
The boys are smiling knowingly as you say your goodbyes.
“You couldn’t be MORE obvious Patrick could you?” you say once you’re out the door.
He just smirks and opens the passenger side door to let you into the car.
“It was a great night though, we should do stuff like this more often.” you continue once you’re both in the car.
He nods as he’s backing out of the driveway, “Preferably with less making fun of me next time.” he says, not actually sounding too upset about it.
“Oh don’t worry,” you say putting your hand on his thigh, “I’ll be sure to make up for it.”
He glances over at you but keeps his eyes on the road. He doesn’t say anything but he definitely speeds up, getting you home quicker than is probably safe. Getting you home as soon as possible seems to be worth the risk, giving the boys something to chirp about in the the dressing rooms the next day for sure.

Summer camp kids - Nolan Patrick
A/N: So I went with Nolan for this one but I had a lot of votes for several others so I'm gonna try to come up with a new fit idea and I'll write about them at that point alright?
Plot: basically you a Nolan met as kids on summer camp and were really cute and now you meet in the future and you don't recognize each other really but you’ll see what happens
masterlist
part 2 [3] [4]
Tumblr media
The nine year old never wanted to go to summer camp, she really just wanted to spend the summer at home with her friends and family. However, with her single mother having to work and her grandma in the hospital with a broken hip, that would not be the case. So she was sent off for eight weeks of ‘non-stop fun’ as they said.
The camp had looked nice. The cabins they slept in were fairly new at the time and there was a nice lake nearby for the children to swim in. They were going to have campfires and outdoors-activities every day.
Unfortunately, the girl had an unfortunate accident the very first day. She accidentally pushed one of the other girls into the lake as she tripped on the docks, and she was unlucky enough to have pushed the bully. As one of the leaders were present, the bully had not said or done anything to the girl after her mistake. But as they walked back to the cabins, the girl found herself being pushed into a puddle of mud, her white shirt instantly brown and yucky. Everyone had laughed and the girl started crying. That night, when everyone was attending the first bonfire, the girl hid by a tree on a hill, crying to herself.
“Are you okay?” a voice had appeared from nowhere. The girl had been joined by a boy, he was about her age. As the girl cried, the boy comforted her, telling her that she shouldn't care about the other kids. He told her they’d all make a fool out of themselves at some point during the summer and everyone will laugh at them too. No one were to remember what happened the first day. The girl had felt better after that, and the girl and boy started talking. It had turned out that they were the perfect match. What one of them lacked, the other one made up for. Ones strength was the others weakness. When one of them hated a certain candy, the other one loved it. They were able to share just about anything during that summer. When the boy was struggling with nightmares, the girl had snuck into his cabin to make sure he wouldn't have to sleep alone. The bully had played a few more tricks over the week, but the boy was always there to comfort the girl whenever it was needed. They were quite the pair, maybe even a match made in heaven.
The young boy dreamed of becoming a professional hockey player, and they girl wanted to be an artist. Her painting skills were very unusual for a nine year old actually. Sometimes the two of them would sit by the lake, the girl drawing different things and the boy would either fish or throw rocks into the lake. One time, the boy caught the girl drawing him. She had blushed and felt very embarrassed, but the boy had loved the drawing. He even requested to keep it, which she allowed. He made her sign it, saying that it was one day going to be worth a lot of money. So she wrote “Y/N” on it with the best handwriting she could muster. She had given him his first kiss after that, which also happened to be her first. He had blushed, which was one of her favorite things about him. Because when he did, there was a patch in the middle of his cheek which stayed his natural skin color. And it was often shaped like a heart.
As the eight weeks were starting to come to an end, the pair knew that they weren’t going to be able to see each other a lot. But they still promised each other that they were never going to forget one another, that they’d meet again someday. Both of them believed fiercely in destiny, and they knew they were meant for each other. So the boy snuck into one of the girls cabins and stole a plastic ring from the bully, which he offered to the girl, asking her to marry him one day in the future. It was both revenge for the bullying, but also a promise that he would one day find her. The girl had said yes, and she hid the ring until she came home so the bully wouldn't find it. They had both cried during their last day, not wanting to leave each others sides.
“I will find you, I promised you that.” he had told her
“I know, and we’ll be together. One day” she had said back.
They hadn't said goodbye after that. They simply said “see you in the future” before hopping on their buses and going home to their families. Y/N and Nolan had an amazing summer, which they both still remember to this day, but it didn't take many years before they both accepted defeat. It was an adorable childhood story, but they were sure they were never going to meet each other again.
Y/N looked up at the tall building which she was spending the next few years walking to and from. She went inside to register to the art school she had been so excited about, but now she felt like she might throw up. Her mother had her doubts about pursuing a career as an artist, she even made a powerpoint of the most famous artist of all time. But it did not contain their excellent work, instead she pointed out who was an alcoholic, tho was melancholic, who commited suicide and who was poor only to be famous once dead. Her mother was a work of art herself, all of Y/Ns friends called them the Gilmore girls, claiming that the two of you were just like the girl and her mom in the series.
Y/N had eventually convinced her mother, saying that she would regret it for the rest of her life if she didn't at least try. So here she was, registering to the University of the arts in Philadelphia. Being from Toronto, this was all very exciting. An entirely new city in a different country was a big deal for Y/N. Her first step to independence as she was actually meant to take care of herself for the upcoming years. That meant feed herself, wash her own clothes and act like an adult. It was exciting, but also terrifying.
Registration went by smoothly and before she knew it, she was unpacking her things in her dorm. The nerves were still there, so she picked up a pen and paper and started doodling silly things, something that usually helped.
The next day started with a trip to the closest starbucks. Being a coffee addict, this was her number one priority. While waiting for her order, her mother called. She talked to her mom while receiving her coffee, and was too swept up in telling the mother about the school while not spilling her drink to look where she was walking. She just managed to stop herself from walking straight into a boy who also hadn't been looking in front of him.
“Woah! Sorry, didn't see you there.” he said, looking down at the girl who he almost knocked over.
“No worries, I wasn't paying attention either” she replied, smiling at the boy. She had to admit, he was cute. But there was something else as well, he was familiar. She couldn't really put her finger on what it was, but it felt like she’d seen him somewhere. She brushed it off though, thinking he probably just looked like someone she knew.
He excused himself once more and smiled at the girl before moving past her to order his coffee. She was cute, really cute. And somewhat familiar. He realized he should have asked for her name, maybe her number. As he turned around though, she’d left the coffee shop and she was now gone.
The first month of school went by quickly. Y/N made friends and went through good and bad days due to some of her teachers being very critical, while others seemed to love her work. She tried to take it lightly though, remembering her mothers powerpoint of artists whose art wasn't considered good until they were dead. Though she hoped she’d live to see some success.
She’d woken up pretty late, having the morning off. She was texting a friend of hers as she came to the coffeeshop, not looking where she was headed as she walked straight into some dude. Looking up she couldn't help but laugh as she looked into the eyes of the familiar-looking guy from about a month ago.
Nolan looked at the person he’d walked into and a smile grew on his face as he saw the pretty girl.
“I like running into you like this” he joked. She smiled, so he was pretty happy.
“Me too, I'm sorry for my clumsiness though” she said, putting her phone in her back pocket. Nolan didn't really know what to say or do, his only intention was to not let her slip away this time.
“can i... buy you a coffee?” he asked and scratched the back of his neck.
“okay.. Nolan” she said after taking a look at the writing on his coffee mug. He asked for her name as they went to the line. “It’s Y/N” she said, this time taking a good look at the boy. He was pretty tall and well built, his hair was kinda long and he had the most heartwarming smile she’d ever seen.
“Is that a Canadian accent?” he asked. “Yeah I’m from Toronto” she told him. It turned out that Nolan too was from Canada, and they immediately started talking about their home country and all the things that the US was lacking. Y/N got her coffee and they exited the coffeeshop together, still talking. It was easy, the conversation just floated naturally. Y/N told Nolan about her art school and the mean professor who’d basically told her she had no chance of becoming a ‘real artist’ and Nolan told her he’s a hockey player. He didn't really get into specifics, he didn't say he played in the nhl, but it didn't really seem important at the time.
Before parting ways, they exchanged numbers after Nolan said he needed a Canadian friend in the city, as if he didn't have enough on the team. He then walked off towards his home with a bright smile on his face. He thought for hours, trying to write a simple text message. “Wanna grab lunch someday?” is what he ended up with, and the two made plans for a few days later.
“I’ll have the cajun chicken pasta, please” The waitress grabbed their menus and left, leaving Nolan and Y/N to fend for themselves. He was nervous, really nervous actually. It wasn't clear to either one if this was a date or not, but they both had their hopes. It was silent for a couple seconds before Nolan asked her about the mean professor, her head quickly dropping as a groan escaped her lips. She started ranting about the class she’d had that day and how her sun simply wasn't good enough.
“Im sorry but isn't a sun just a yellow circle? How could anyone mess that up? Wait did you draw lines coming out of the sun, like kids do?” Y/N laughed at the boy’s humor as she felt a little bit lighter in her chest. When lunch was over Nolan had quickly grabbed the bill, making Y/N protest.
“Im the one who asked you on a date, so I pay” he insisted. A smirk grew on Y/Ns lips. “So this is a date, then?”
Nolan blushed, shyly looking up at the girl. “Well if you don't want it to be it doesn't have to be, but thats what I intended at least” he said, his low voice sending shivers down Y/Ns spine. “No, I want it to be a date. But next one’s on me”
“Oh, so there’s gonna be a second date then?” his comeback made her blush as well. After lunch the two went to a nearby park to take a walk. They sat at a bench located under a tree as they talked.
“Can I see something you’ve done? Like art wise, that is” Nolan asked. Y/N was a bit shy about her work, but always tried to expand her boundaries. “Yeah, I guess” she said as she took her notebook from her bag.
“This is mostly just doodles but its something so..” she trailed off as the boy took the book from her hands. He looked through it and pointed to his favorites. He especially loved the old, angry man who took up an entire page. “Oh yeah, thats my professor” Y/N said, making Nolan laugh out loud.
As he turned to the next page though, a big smirk etched onto his face. Y/N was great at drawing, so when she tried to make out someones features, she succeeded. There was no question that the boy who’d taken up the entire next page was Nolan himself. She had completely forgotten about the drawing she’d made after their first meeting. Y/N quickly tried to grab her notebook, but Nolan had a firm grip on it as he tried his best to keep it.
“No, no! I like it, I really do” he exclaimed as he saw a blush covering her face. “I mean it, I do like it” he seemed sincere as he looked into her eyes, trying to get the point across that she was fine. Y/N eventually let go and tried to explain that she sometimes just drew whatever she’d seen during the day and he just nodded along, pretending to understand.
“Can I keep it?” he asked, surprising her. He smiled fondly at her before looking down on the page again. “Sure” she said before ripping the page out.
“But you have to sign it though” he protested. “This is gonna make me a million bucks one day”.
Y/N laughed but put her name in one of the bottom corners. Nolan squinted his eyes and looked deep in thought as he saw her signature, sure that he’d seen it somewhere else. But he pushed it to the back of his mind before giving her back the notebook.
let me know if you want a part two

Its somewhat ironic that a movie about time travel can’t be reviewed properly until your future self rewatches the movie. It’s bold of Nolan to make such a thoroughly dense blockbuster. He assumes people will actually want to see ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő more than once so they can understand it properly, which some may not. This movie makes the chronology of Inception look as simplistic as tic-tac-toe. Ergo, it’s hard for me to give an accurate rating, without having seen it twice, as I’m still trying to figure out whether everything does indeed make sense. If it does, this movie is easily a 9 or 10. If it doesn’t, it’s a 6. It’s further not helped by the fact that the dialogue in the first 15 minutes of the movie is painfully hard to understand / hear. Either they were behind masks; they were practically mumbling; the sound effects were too loud; or all of the above. The exposition scenes are also waayyy too brief for something this complex — a problem also shared with Interstellar actually. (Interstellar had this minimalist exposition problem explaining Blight, where if you weren’t careful, you’d miss this one sentence / scene in the entire movie explaining that Blight was a viral bacteria: “Earth’s atmosphere is 80% nitrogen, we don’t even breathe nitrogen. Blight does, and as it thrives, our air gets less and less oxygen”). I guess it’s a Nolan quirk. Hopefully, a revision of the film audio sorts the sound mixing out. I do like the soundtrack, but it’s too loud initially. I liked all the actors. You think John Washington can’t act at first, but he can, and he grows on you as the film progresses. And Pattinson is his usual charming self. Elizabeth is a surprise treat. And so on. Its worth a watch either way. See it with subtitles if you can. And definitely don’t expect to fully understand whats going on the first time around. Its one hell of a complicated film. It will be very hard for an average viewer to gather all the information provided by this movie at the first watch. But the more you watch it, more hidden elements will come to light. And when you are able to put these hidden elements together. You will realize that this movie is just a “masterpiece” which takes the legacy of Christopher Nolan Forward If I talk about acting, Then I have to say that Robert Pattinson has really proved himself as a very good actor in these recent years. And I am sure his acting skills will increase with time. His performance is charming and very smooth. Whenever he is on the camera, he steals the focus John David Washington is also fantastic in this movie. His performance is electrifying, I hope to see more from him in the future. Other characters such as Kenneth Branagh, Elizabeth, Himesh Patel, Dimple Kapadia, Clémence Poésy have also done quite well. And I dont think there is a need to talk about Michael Caine Talking about Music, its awesome. I dont think you will miss Hans Zimmer’s score. Ludwig has done a sufficient job. There is no lack of good score in the movie Gotta love the editing and post production which has been put into this movie. I think its fair to say this Nolan film has focused more in its post production. The main problem in the movie is the sound mixing. Plot is already complex and some dialogues are very soft due to the high music score. It makes it harder to realize what is going on in the movie. Other Nolan movies had loud BGM too. But Audio and dialogues weren’t a problem My humble request to everyone is to please let the movie sink in your thoughts. Let your mind grasp all the elements of this movie. I am sure more people will find it better. Even those who think they got the plot. I can bet they are wrong. ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő is the long awaited new movie from Christopher Nolan. The movie that’s set to reboot the multiplexes post-Covid. It’s a manic, extremely loud, extremely baffling sci-fi cum spy rollercoaster that will please a lot of Nolan fan-boys but which left me with very mixed views. John David Washington (Denzel’s lad) plays “The Protagonist” — a crack-CIA field operative who is an unstoppable one-man army in the style of Hobbs or Shaw. Recruited into an even more shadowy organisation, he’s on the trail of an international arms dealer, Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh in full villain mode). Sator is bullying his estranged wife Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) over custody of their son (and the film unusually has a BBFC warning about “Domestic Abuse”). Our hero jets the world to try to prevent a very particular kind of Armageddon while also keeping the vulnerable and attractive Kat alive. This is cinema at its biggest and boldest. Nolan has taken a cinema ‘splurge’ gun, filled it with money, set it on rapid fire, removed the safety and let rip at the screen. Given that Nolan is famous for doing all of his ‘effects’ for real and ‘in camera’, some of what you see performed is almost unbelievable. You thought crashing a train through rush-hour traffic in “Inception” was crazy? You ain’t seen nothing yet with the airport scene! And for lovers of Chinooks (I must admit I am one and rush out of the house to see one if I hear it coming!) there is positively Chinook-p*rn on offer in the film’s ridiculously huge finale. The ‘inversion’ aspects of the story also lends itself to some fight scenes — one in particular in an airport ‘freeport’ — which are both bizarre to watch and, I imagine, technically extremely challenging to pull off. In this regard John David Washington is an acrobatic and talented stunt performer in his own right, and must have trained for months for this role. Nolan’s crew also certainly racked up their air miles pre-lockdown, since the locations range far and wide across the world. The locations encompassed Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, the United Kingdom, and United States. Hoyte Van Hoytema’s cinematography is lush in introducing these, especially the beautiful Italian coast scenes. Although I did miss the David Arnold strings that would typically introduce these in a Bond movie: it felt like that was missing. The ‘timey-wimey’ aspects of the plot are also intriguing and very cleverly done. There are numerous points at which you think “Oh, that’s a sloppy continuity error” or “Shame the production design team missed that cracked wing mirror”. Then later in the movie, you get at least a dozen “Aha!” moments. Some of them (no spoilers) are jaw-droppingly spectacular. Perhaps the best twist is hidden in the final line of the movie. I only processed it on the way home. And so to the first of my significant gripes with ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő. The sound mix in the movie is all over the place. I’d go stronger than that… it’s truly awful (expletive deleted)! Nolan often implements Shakespeare’s trick of having characters in the play provide exposition of the plot to aid comprehension. But unfortunately, all of this exposition dialogue was largely incomprehensible. This was due to: the ear-splitting volume of the sound: 2020 movie audiences are going to be suffering from ‘~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipőis’! (LOL); the dialogue is poorly mixed with the thumping music by Ludwig Göransson (Wot? No Hans Zimmer?); a large proportion of the dialogue was through masks of varying description (#covid-appropriate). Aaron Taylor-Johnson was particularly unintelligible to my ears. Overall, watching this with subtitles at a special showing might be advisable! OK, so I only have a PhD in Physics… but at times I was completely lost as to the intricacies of the plot. It made “Inception” look like “The Tiger Who Came to Tea”. There was an obvious ‘McGuffin’ in “Inception” — — (“These ‘dream levels’… how exactly are they architected??”…. “Don’t worry… they’ll never notice”. And we didn’t!) In “~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő” there are McGuffins nested in McGuffins. So much of this is casually waved away as “future stuff… you’re not qualified” that it feels vaguely condescending to the audience. At one point Sator says to Kat “You don’t know what’s going on, do you?” and she shakes her head blankly. We’re right with you there luv! There are also gaps in the storyline that jar. The word “~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő”? What does it mean. Is it just a password? I’m none the wiser. The manic pace of ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő and the constant din means that the movie gallops along like a series of disconnected (albeit brilliant) action set pieces. For me, it has none of the emotional heart of the Cobb’s marriage problems from “Inception” or the father/daughter separation of “Interstellar”. In fact, you barely care for anyone in the movie, perhaps with the exception of Kat. It’s a talented cast. As mentioned above, John David Washington is muscular and athletic in the role. It’s a big load for the actor to carry in such a tent-pole movie, given his only significant starring role before was in the excellent BlacKkKlansman. But he carries it off well. A worthy successor to Gerard Butler and Jason Statham for action roles in the next 10 years. This is also a great performance by Robert Pattinson, in his most high-profile film in a long time, playing the vaguely alcoholic and Carré-esque support guy. Pattinson’s Potter co-star Clemence Poésy also pops up — rather more un-glam that usual — as the scientist plot-expositor early in the movie. Nolan’s regular Michael Caine also pops up. although the 87-year old legend is starting to show his age: His speech was obviously affected at the time of filming (though nice try Mr Nolan in trying to disguise that with a mouth full of food!). But in my book, any amount of Caine in a movie is a plus. He also gets to deliver the best killer line in the film about snobbery! However, it’s Kenneth Branagh and Elizabeth Debicki that really stand out. They were both fabulous, especially when they were bouncing off each other in their marital battle royale. So, given this was my most anticipated movie of the year, it’s a bit of a curate’s egg for me. A mixture of being awe-struck at times and slightly disappointed at others. It’s a movie which needs a second watch, so I’m heading back today to give my ear drums another bashing! And this is one where I reserve the right to revisit my rating after that second watch… it’s not likely to go down… but it might go up. (For the full graphical review, check out One Mann’s Movies on t’interweb and Facebook. Thanks.) As this will be non-spoiler, I can’t say too much about the story. However, what I can is this: ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő’s story is quite dynamic in the sense that you won’t understand it till it wants you to. So, for the first half, your brain is fighting for hints and pieces to puzzle together the story. It isn’t until halfway through the movie that ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő invites you to the fantastic storytelling by Christopher Nolan. Acting is beyond phenomenal, and I’d be genuinely surprised if neither Robert Pattinson nor John David Washington doesn’t receive an Oscar nomination for best actor. It’s also hard not to mention how good Elizabeth Debicki and Aaron Johnson both are. All around, great acting, and the dialogue amps up the quality of the movie. The idea of this movie is damn fascinating, and while there are films that explore time-travelling, there’s never been anything quite like this. It has such a beautiful charm and for the most part, explains everything thoroughly. It feels so much more complex than any form of time-travelling we’ve seen, and no less could’ve been expected from Nolan. Oh my lord, the score for this film fits so perfectly. Every scene that’s meant to feel intense was amped by a hundred because of how good the score was. Let me just say though, none of them will be found iconic, but they fit the story and scenes so well. In the end, I walked out, feeling very satisfied. Nevertheless, I do have issues with the film that I cannot really express without spoiling bits of the story. There are definitely little inconsistencies that I found myself uncovering as the story progressed. However, I only had one issue that I found impacted my enjoyment. That issue was understanding some of the dialogue. No, not in the sense that the movie is too complicated, but more that it was hard to make out was being said at times. It felt like the movie required subtitles, but that probably was because, at a time in the film, there was far too much exposition. Nevertheless, I loved this film, I’ll be watching it at least two more times, and I think most of you in this group will enjoy it. I definitely suggest watching it in theatres if possible, just so you can get that excitement. (4/5) & (8.5/10) for those that care about number scores. At first, I want to ask Christopher Nolan one question, HOW THE HELL YOU DID THIS? Seriously I want to have an answer, How did he write such as this masterpiece! How did he get this complicated, fabulous and creative idea? What is going on in his mind? The story is written and directed perfectly, the narration style was absolutely unique. I have no idea how can anyone direct such as this story, that was a huge challenge, and as usual Nolan gave us a masterpiece that we’ll put beside (Memento), (Inception) and (Interstellar) The movie is so fast-paced in a good way, there was no boring moment. The chemistry between John David Washington and Robert Pattinson was great and funny and both of their performance was really good. Elizabeth Debicki performance was the best in the movie because she had the chance to show her acting abilities and she cached up that chance and showed us an A level acting. The music wasn’t unique and distinct as the music of Interstellar for example and I think this movie needed the touch of Hans Zimmer, I’m not saying that Ludwig Göransson failed but Hans Zimmer in another level. If there was something I’d say that I didn’t like it in the movie would it be that Nolan discarded any set up or characters backgrounds except Elizabeth Debicki dramatic story but it wasn’t that bad for me, I didn’t care about that, the exciting story didn’t give me the chance to focus on it. But the actual problem was the third act, it was really complicated and I got lost and I convinced myself to discard the questions that were in my head and enjoy the well-made action sequences and Elizabeth Debicki performance. I think this kind of movie that gets better with a second and third watch. I honestly don’t quite know where to begin with ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő. I love Christopher Nolan’s work but I have never seen a more complicated film (and I understood Memento). ~After nearly three hours, I came away from ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő not knowing myself, my mind reduced to nothing more than piles of ash. Was there time travel involved? Hmm, there was definitely something about time inversion. I mean, does Nolan even understand what he wrote? Look, I give credit to the director because he’s one of the few directors left who knows how to create a compelling and intelligent blockbuster. ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő is full of Nolan trademarks — the gratuitous Michael Caine cameo, a loud, really loud score, complete with stunning cinematography and slickly inventive action set-pieces. This time around however, Nolan has finally managed to ‘out-Nolan’ himself: the palindromic plot, whilst creatively ambitious, is simply far too complicated for its own good. ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő is overlong, overstuffed, pretentious and too exhausting to comprehend in its entirety — it makes Inception and Interstellar look like Peppa Pig by comparison. I’m aware of the technical wizardry and creative mastery in this film and lord knows I’ll have to watch this again. For those who want a puzzle, ~Nyúl Péter 2 - Nyúlcipő at least provides a unique cinematic experience. But to actually enjoy solving it Nolan wants you to work very very hard

FELIX; thank you for applying! You’ve been accepted as XAVIER CLARINGTON and you have 24 HOURS to send in your account. Please take a look at the CHECKLIST, and if you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask!
OUT OF CHARACTER
NAME: Felix. TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOU: I’m an avid retro game collector. All I’ve got to stick in my Nintendo collection is the SNES and original Game Boy. AGE: 19. TIMEZONE: EST, though I work nights. I’ve been fixing my sleep schedule lately so I’ll be most active between 3-5 pm and well, 3-5 am. I can pretty much guarantee that unless something big happens I’ll be on every day though. PRONOUNS: Male. TRIGGERS: Removed. SHIPS & ANTI-SHIPS: Anything Xavier/male, and my anti’s are just Xavier/female. I’m extremely flexible with my characters. ANYTHING ELSE: Removed.
IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER: Xavier Thomas Clarington. FACECLAIM: Nolan Funk. AGE: 25 BIRTH ORDER: Youngest twin. HOMETOWN: Nope, homegrown LA boy. GENDER IDENTITY & PRONOUNS: Male for both. WHY ARE THEY FAMOUS: Marie and Patrick Clarington founded, own, and operate their own advertising agency. In Los Angeles they’ve damn near cornered the market, everyone who’s anyone knowing to go to the pair for the perfect campaign. SEXUAL/ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: Homosexual, homoromantic.
BIOGRAPHY
The Claringtons were a very sheltered brood, having been in and out of boarding schools all throughout southern California that kept them well in the dark to the outside world. For this reason Xavier often comes off as very naive, street smarts being something he was never able to gather during his stuffy time in and out of perfectly pressed blazers. Along with this he has a difficult time speaking to those out of his circle - the business acumen type - and as a result can come off as rather arrogant at times though he’s very far from it.
Speaking of arrogance Xavier holds himself to high esteem in that he hasn’t let the money go to his head, though his lavish penthouse and Aston Vanquish S would love to tell him otherwise. If ever pressed on it he’ll just insist there’s no harm in dabbling in a lavish lifestyle, even if he could put that money towards something a bit more meaningful. Along with his penthouse and car he has a keen eye for anything at all that says limited edition - whether it be a belt or a chair. “Only a couple hundred in circulation” may be Xavier’s favorite phrase.
Despite his illustrious lifestyle however Xavier is a rather sweet man, some calling him a bleeding heart always on the hunt for his next prince charming. This tends to bite him in the ass however since he tends to attract those who only want him for his money, leaving him begging Ma and Pa for a bit of extra cash to make his new beau’s ends meet. Though he’s only in his mid-20’s he often acts more as a sugar daddy than a lover for the guys he ends up with, though his partners would love to keep him in the dark about that one.
Though he lives on his own and maintains a job catering for his parents’ clients when need be he eventually hopes to become a party planner and make a damn good living off doing so. Problem is he has zero skills when it comes to operating a business and neither parent believes he would be able to keep his business afloat. Even still he longs for the freelance life, aiming to end up with his own business in his hands much like the two that don’t believe in him.

Your Friday Morning Roundup
Last night was a reminder of where the Sixers stand in terms of their growth and development.
They’re beyond the point of losing nearly every game. Even though they went on a five-game winning streak, there’s still flaws that opponents are able to pick out. And the Sacramento Kings did just that with a 109-108 win in the final seconds.
The Kings scored seven unanswered points in the game’s final 1:38, which reminded me a little bit of the loss to the Rockets at home two weeks ago.
Robert Covington, who’s had a huge impact on the team’s success, had a game-high 24 points, while Joel Embiid (22 points, 15 rebounds) and Dario Saric (13 points, 10 rebounds) each had double-doubles.
But the Kings’ bench played a significant role, outscoring the Sixers’ reserves 56-17. The Sixers also had eight more turnovers than Sacramento.
The team has a big game ahead Saturday night in the Bay Area against the Golden State Warriors. Also, be sure to read Kevin Kinkead’s post on how the Sixers are numbers wise, along with balanced contributions from the team.
The Roundup:
There was some good news involving Philly teams. The Flyers showed up after a five-day break, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks at home 3-1. The entire first line of Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek, and Sean Couturier scored all three goals and contributed to seven of the team’s eight total points. Goalie Brian Elliott made 38 saves on 39 shots to get the win.
Shayne Gostisbehere made history, becoming the fastest defenseman in franchise history to score 100 points with his assist on the second goal:
Ghost gets point #100 on the assist to Jake Voracek. Great job by Giroux gloving the puck to keep the play alive. http://pic.twitter.com/lGUNZVkhbK
— Chris Jastrzembski (@CFJastrzembski) November 10, 2017
Radko Gudas made his return to the ice as well.
Up next are the Minnesota Wild Saturday night back in Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, Nolan Patrick still hasn’t practiced with the team after suffering a concussion seven games ago. Ron Hextall thinks he’s close to practicing again:
“It’s a matter of kind of ramping him up every day and hopefully things continue on the path they’re going on right now,” Hextall said.
Hextall said Patrick’s recovery has “taken longer than we thought and certainly hoped, but he skated [Thursday] and everything went good. He worked out. You just can’t go from zero to 60; it’s got to be zero to 20 and then up, so he’ll go a little harder”  Friday.
The general manager said he did not anticipate sending Patrick  to the AHL’s Phantoms for a rehab stint. He also ruled out sending him back to his junior team in Brandon.
Nobody will have a better bye week than Timmy Jernigan. The defensive tackle signed a four-year extension reportedly worth $48 million. $26 million is guaranteed. Huge move by Howie Roseman.
LeGarrette Blount wanted Corey Clement to get his third touchdown of the game against the Broncos. I think the running backs are happy here.
Carson Wentz and his AO1 Foundation will hold his first ever charity softball game at Citizens Bank Park on June 1. It’ll pit the Eagles offensive stars against the team’s defensive players:

The family of Roy Halladay issued a statement two days after the former pitcher’s death, including info about a public service down in Clearwater on Tuesday:
Statement from the Halladay family: http://pic.twitter.com/KeNiSmULZH
— Phillies (@Phillies) November 9, 2017
The radio host that was dumb to say that Halladay deserved to die is a hypocrite. And to nobody’s surprise, he went on the air yesterday to apologize for his comments. He’s still a scum.
There was another scum that tried to take a jersey away from the Halladay memorial at Citizens Bank Park:
The man, who’s accused of placing the jersey under his jacket, was chased down by officers.
Police say the man was cited for disorderly conduct and released.
Authorities add that since no one claimed ownership of the jersey, no charges will be filed.
Finally, a great personal story from Jim McCormick on how Halladay helped him battle through a personal battle:
The smell of cotton candy being whipped was actually in the air. Cases of water sat wrapped on pallets. It was an immersive baseball climate. From the corner of my eye, I see someone in the third-base stands running the steps. It looks oddly mechanical, like a precision you couldn’t match if you tried.
It’s Halladay. I have no interest in false mythologies. I don’t often believe the “first to the stadium, last to leave” narrative given just how human most humans are. This was different. He was honestly running the damn steps. I stopped at the railing, just behind the plate at the park, and just watched. It just didn’t stop. It was a Powerade commercial. It was a person reflecting on results and working on that goal.
It was love of craft.
There is an “inside baseball” anecdote about how Halladay and Chris Carpenter were in a hotel room together during Spring Training 1998, amid a time when both were struggling for the Blue Jays and famous pitching guru Mel Queen gave them a rousing speech of how they’d reconnect with the game and both would thrive as professional pitchers at the highest level. Queen was all about mental reflection in pitching.
In non-Halladay news, Gabe Kapler is…my god, that dude’s jacked up.
Tonight’s a night for college sports. Temple football travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 7 pm on ESPN2. The Owls look to win their second straight game and keep their bowl hopes alive.
The Owls hoops team defeated the Jefferson Rams (the artist formerly known as Philadelphia University) in an exhibition last night.
But there will be two regular season college hoops games tonight in and around the city. Drexel opens their regular season at the DAC against Bowling Green at 7 pm, while sixth ranked Villanova hosts Columbia at 8:30 on FS2. Villanova is playing most of their home games at the Wells Fargo Center while the Pavilion undergoes a major renovation.
In other sports news, once again, the Ezekiel Elliott suspension is back on. And it starts on Sunday:
Argument in Ezekiel Elliott's expedited appeal in 2nd Circuit scheduled for Dec. 1. #Cowboys have four games before then.
— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) November 9, 2017
Elliott can appeal to the full 2nd Circuit or even the Supreme Court, but they appear to be extreme long shots. Elliott will be suspended for at least four games before the December 1 hearing, including the Sunday Night Football game next week against the Eagles.
In the Seahawks’ 22-16 victory over the Cardinals, Richard Sherman ruptured his Achilles and is done for the year. He knew it when it happened:
Does look like Richard Sherman said “tore my Achilles” here. Would not be good. http://pic.twitter.com/J7kSmX35zZ
— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) November 10, 2017
Sherman was one of many Seahawks that got banged up during the game. Duane Brown, Frank Clark, Sheldon Richardson, and Kam Chancellor also got hurt to go along with Earl Thomas, who didn’t play.
A day after being released by the Packers, tight end Martellus Bennett is back with the New England Patriots.
Jerry Jones’ attorney says NFL owners are being misled over Roger Goodell’s contract negotiations. So he’s probably pissed about something and he wants his way.
The Colts released former Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis before he could have season-ending surgery on his groin. The team has zero defensive starters from last year’s season opener.
Devils forward Brian Boyle shed tears after scoring his first goal since he was diagnosed with leukemia:
What a feeling for @BriBrows22.#BoyleStrong #HockeyFightsCancer http://pic.twitter.com/0fk6Aa7Npw
— NHL (@NHL) November 10, 2017
Nike is trying to stop their new NBA jerseys from ripping.
This is crazy: For eight years, a teenage girl from Missouri disguised herself online as baseball writer Ryan Schultz, who wrote for three sites, including Beyond the Box Score for SB Nation:
Schultz’s fraud was as true to the catfish genre as can be. She told the people who discovered she was not who she said she was that she assumed the identity because she felt as if she couldn’t write about baseball professionally as a woman, especially at the age of 13. As the deception went on, she couldn’t figure out how to get out of the middle of her web of lies.
Over time, Ryan formed serial relationships with women who use Twitter to talk about baseball and hockey. Some women told me that he would get drunk and berate them; others told me they felt emotionally abused and manipulated because he would imply that he’d hurt himself if they didn’t continue to talk to him. Ryan received nudes from at least two women I spoke with, one of whom said she did it because she was afraid he would hurt himself if she didn’t.
Schultz’s story is interesting for reasons far beyond its sheer shock value. It’s entirely reasonable that at the time she created the Ryan persona, she might not have thought she could easily have a career writing about baseball as a woman. She’s also drawn a big red arrow sign pointing toward the exploitative ecosystem of online sportswriting, which created the conditions for her to get her enviable opportunities without much interrogation from editors who have a lot to do and few resources with which to do it.
Most of all, though, there are real women who have been genuinely hurt by their interactions with a woman who, as she tells the story, caught herself up in a lie she didn’t know how to untell, not least because it was bringing her what she wanted.
