ThankyouthankyouTHANKYOU for your Sozo ant post, Sozo spider interpretations are cute but to me he’s very clearly an ant.

Like!! the way he runs his own group parallels that of ant ant colony (he may likely be a worker ant but hey I guess he got inspiration from that!)

Especially just alone by comparing his design to the actual spider npc in the game Helob, it’s clear to see they are very different! Helob has three eyes, all 8 limbs, and overall body is shaped differently.

One can argue that Sozo is missing his antennae, a key trait of ants, but I counter that for the game’s simple and cartoony art style, the antennae were removed to keep the design from being crowded. After all, it’s not unusual for a cartoonish ant to lack antennae!

Yeah! I'm seeing more ant Sozo recently so I'm glad people are seeing all the clues in their design ^_^

Also I did not know about the ant colony structure of their group! I'll be sure to look into it as well, that's super interesting

Ok but imagine dragon!Zhongli fills you up with eggs and by the time they hatch you end up with a bunch of tiny baby dragons squirming around like worms. What'd you do then??

But fr tho imagine like a dozen of tiny baby noodles with a bit of fur and tiny stubby horns just curling up on your lap or around you as you sleep, draped around your shoulder, on top of your head (and Zhongli's) that is so cute pls too adorable. 💕

I'd imagine they'd be still too weak/young to fly let alone shapeshift so they're housebound, zhongli and you have to take turns watching them and going out to do stuff. Also since they're dragons/reptiles they wouldn't need milk?? rather probably just smol pieces of meat or like soft food aaaaaaaaaaaa too cute imagine feeding them with a spoon carefully.

Until they start teething that it, then they become lil menaces, biting everything on sight including each other when play fighting and/or their father (lmao) Zhongli would make small crystals they can bite into instead of destroying everything 💕

Speaking of their father imagine Zhongli feeling the urge to take dragon form just so he can curl around them and soothe them in a way they'd be more instinctually comfortable with (PAPA DRAGON ZL INSTINCTS RUNNING WILD IMAGINE HIM LICK-BATHING THEM SVCGAHBAK 🥺💕💕💕) tho they 1000% recognize you as mama and like to burrow in your hair or under your shirt (babies noooo) and just be close to/on top of you at all times

Also, cordyceps are *most famed* to infect ants. Sure, while there are kinds that can and do infect other arthropod species, but they’re not as well known. It doesn’t make much sense to me personally to have a concept based on something in real life, but then not use what it’s most known for. Makes it harder to spot that it’s a reference, you know? It’d negate the point.

Following up with this as well- yeah I completely agree! I made that point in my post since I wasn't sure if the spider interpretation could be supported slightly if the fungus also infected spiders, so I decided to make sure. You're right that that's what the fungus is known for (I mean its nickname is zombie-ant fungus), and I also noted that the cycle of infection and spread of its ant variant very much somewhat mirrors Sozo's deal as well!

I was honestly very happy to see a character based on cordyceps that is more accurate to how it actually works, and being on an ant as well ^_^ it's a very interesting topic
