History
(Trooper story & expansion spoilers below)
Varrich, along with his twin sister, was born on a small farmstead on Balmorra. His sister was born Force-sensitive, but due to distrust and bitterness in the Republic, their parents chose not to send her to the Jedi, and instead wanted her to be old enough to make the decision for herself. They had an older brother--Talza--who Varrich barely remembers. Talza had gone off to join the Republic military, and died fighting from what the family had been told.
With the farm being in the middle of nowhere, he had little else to do besides help around the farm and listen to reports of the fighting going on all over their planet as the resistance tried to drive the Empire out. Because of Talza, and Varrich having been told he’d “died a hero,” he wanted to be a soldier, too. Against their parents’ wishes, he left home at around sixteen/seventeen, lied about his age, and joined up with Balmorra’s resistance fighters. He fought alongside them for a few years, before deciding to enlist for the Republic Academy to join its military--mostly in the hopes that with doing so, he could be more help to his home planet.
Graduating top of his class, trained in a multitude of weapons, fighting styles, and languages, Varrich found himself recruited to Havoc Squad. His original squad’s betrayal on Ord Mantell shocked him, but he took to his new leadership position well. A natural leader and loyal to the Republic, he quickly proved that he was a good fit for the position.
As Havoc CO, he quickly rose through the ranks of the Republic military. He took his job seriously, always aimed to for the greater good of the Republic as a whole, and wouldn’t hesitate to throw his morals aside for the sake of it.
Into the expansions, Havoc was one of the first contacted for the Makeb situation. His team initially focused on providing aid to its citizens after groundquakes, but once a plan was in place to seize the Isotope, he had the team shift its focus to that.
In SOR, he was again called on, this time by Theron Shan--so Havoc once more worked alongside the Hero of Tython, Barsen’thor, and Voidhound. Along with Jen, Varrich wasn’t happy about the eventual meeting with Lana and her Imperial contacts, but he put his grievances aside for the good of the galaxy (while giving Nox, the Wrath, Grand Champion, and Cipher Nine cautious side-eyes and showing his irritable side with them).
On Ziost, he got Havoc back up to the space station just in time to avoid being killed with the rest of the planet. Afterward, they returned to the surface to figure out what the hell exactly they’d just witnessed. For the first time in a long time, Varrich was left speechless with the horror of just how many had died.
At the start of KOTFE, Havoc met with the Wrath and her crew back on the space station above Ziost. His distrust in her was put on the wayside--she agreed the former Emperor needed stopped, so he was willing to work with her briefly when Marr called out from Wild Space. They--Havoc in the Stormcloud, and the Wrath and her crew in the Executor--were still en route to Marr’s location by the time the Eternal Fleet had already attacked him, taken him and the Grand Champion prisoner, and returned to Zakuul. They found only a few intact escape pods and a destroyed Imperial fleet when they arrived. Havoc and the Wrath gathered up what survivors they could find, and not long after the Eternal Fleet started its blockade.
Varrich took Havoc to attack Zakuul on its home turf, but quickly realized they were in over their heads. An explosion threw Varrich off their section of the Spire to separate him from his team, and he lost consciousness when he hit a passing speeder during his fall. He awoke in Breaktown, where he found himself the subject of black market cybernetics experiments for nearly five years, only escaping thanks to the blackout caused by the “Outlander” who he later discovered was the Grand Champion.
After his escape, he sent out coordinates and his call sign with Havoc’s old encryption--it was intercepted by the new Havoc, operating in the Endless Swamps and led by Jorgan. Jorgan took Torg to investigate the coordinates, where they found Varrich and he was finally taken from Breaktown.
When the Outlander had her mission with Havoc shortly thereafter, Varrich went with her back to Odessen, where he was reunited with his sister. By that time, he was bitter with the Republic for abandoning him to Zakuul and more or less spit in its face, opting to remain part of the Alliance alone.
No longer wanting to fight in the wars he’s dealt with for far too long, he instead started helping with figuring out what crops the Alliance could grow on Odessen, finding a spot for fields, and building fences/trying to get them equipment. It wasn’t long after before the Commander put him in charge of the Alliance’s farming, where he’s finally content.

Vows
Star Wars: The Old Republic Sometime during the 5-year KOTFE gap; Breaktown, Zakuul Warnings: Unethical Experimentation, Minor Injury, Needles Characters: Varrich Tophrik (former Havoc CO, he/him, Mirialan), Montiiresc Rehm ("medic," he/him, Human)
“Who the hell did they have you dueling?”
It was a rhetorical question. They both knew the injuries could have only been sustained from Dawn.
Monty shook his head as he sutured the gash in Varrich’s shoulder (Dawn’s claws were too sharp for sparring, hadn’t the handlers said they’d make him “sparring hands” so he couldn’t eviscerate one of the other projects?) It didn’t matter. What’s done was done, but it didn’t numb Varrich’s irritation any.
His own “team” hadn’t exactly been pleased by his loss. But, they’d learned something valuable (hell if he knew what), so that meant he’d be allowed proper rest for the night once Monty was done with him. Finally, he hadn’t gotten more than a few hours at a time in… He’d lost track. A few weeks, at least.
“This is the third time I’ve had to re-stitch this same wound, Varrich. You know that, yeah?”
“Tell that to them.” Did his handlers realize how hard it was to spar when he didn’t have full motion in his arm because it was still healing? He supposed they probably did, and were testing his limits. How...frustrating.
Monty snorted at that. “I don’t have a death wish, friend.”
“Neither do I.”
And they both went quiet, as Monty continued tending to what the handlers considered minor injuries. At least, minor enough they couldn’t be bothered with them, and left them to Monty’s care.
Varrich grimaced, though didn’t pull away, when the other man soon dabbed a wet cloth at his bruised and bloodied cheek.
“Y’know, I’ve always wondered about these tattoos of yours.” Monty touched the cloth (gently, so very gently despite the way his hands always trembled a little) to the bridge of Varrich’s nose.
Right. He was Zakuulan, and had been in the facility for…well, more years than Varrich wanted to think about. He was probably the first Mirialan Monty had ever encountered.
Varrich lifted a shoulder in a half-shrug, his gaze fixed on the far wall. “Most Mirialans get them. They usually signify achievements, family—things we’re proud to openly display.”
Monty hummed. “What are yours?”
He touched his fingertips to where he knew the one on his nose stretched across to his cheek. “It…” And he frowned. “...It doesn’t matter anymore. I’m not the same man who earned them.”
The other sighed, but didn’t press. “Don’t think any of us are who we used to be, friend.”
To that, Varrich agreed. And he had to wonder, what life had the others trapped here been taken from? Had Monty even been a doctor, or had he just been forced to take on the role?
But he knew better than to ask.
Instead, Varrich sighed, and grabbed Monty by the wrist as the “medic” bustled about the room. He looked surprised, for a moment. But he was smart. In a moment, Monty leaned close, good ear turned to the other and eyes fixed on the door.
“Has anyone ever gotten out of here?” Varrich’s question was a soft whisper. Even so close, he knew it would be hard to hear.
“...Only in a body bag.”
Varrich’s heart clenched a little at that answer, but he swallowed.
“And what if someone did?”
Monty chewed his lip. “I…dunno. They’d probably lock stuff down for a while, y’know?”
“Monty.” The man wouldn’t look him in the eyes. “Montiiresc.” That got his attention; even the scanner on the side of his head stalled for a moment at the use of his full name. “What if… What if I got out of here?”
“I—I don’t know.”
Varrich squeezed his eyes shut, ignoring the way it pulled at the bruised skin around his new cybernetic, or how the artificial eye didn’t quite fit in the socket to make the action mildly uncomfortable. He sighed, tightened his hand on Monty’s wrist a moment. “If I get out, I’m coming back for you.”
The Human huffed a laugh and pulled his hand away.
That laugh held no humor.
“No one gets out of here. Not alive.”
Varrich bit his tongue and looked away.
Then maybe he’d be the first.

Yknow
It just occurred to me
That only three of my Canon Eight™️ actually survive to see Odessa when the Alliance abandons Odessen
-Terrin was killed, alongside her husband, a few months before the invasion. Thanks to a betrayal from their youngest child.
-Xaerez passes many years before due to health complications brought on by all the crap his body's been through.
-Synnda, to heart complications. He was always quiet about his health, and no one even realized his artificial heart was having issues until it was too late.
-Azan and Leo both meet their ends while defending Odessen from the Sith Empire's invasion.
-Jen survives, and retires on the new world, passing the Star Hopper to Jeva and Riza.
-Varrich's cybernetics keep him alive FAR longer than he should live, keeping him running even as his mind starts shutting down from age long after the Alliance disappears to Odessa.
-and then....there's Qizulth. Sith rituals, Ashaa rebuilding his body, keeping stubborn hold of a number of spirits.... He won't die. Some speculate he can't die, not from natural means. Three thousand years later, the hermit oracle in Odessa's wilderness scoffs at the stories of the undying Sith (but some with a keen eye notice that the oracle still glances up when Darth Nox is mentioned, or that he smiles just a little at stories of the ancient third Barsen'thor)

I try to sleep, but when I close my eyes the pain bites harder
Whumptober 2023 Day 12: "I haven't slept in days, but who's counting?" Red | Insomnia | "I'm up, I'm up!" Star Wars: The Old Republic Warnings: Unethical Experimentation, Objectification, Abuse Characters: Varrich Tophrik (Former Havoc CO, he/him, Mirialan), Unnamed Scientists
Tumblr media
The headache that buzzed behind his eyes was persistent, hadn’t left him for days. Made it hard to sleep, hard not to grimace when the lights were on, hard to focus on their voices. He knew it was the new eye, an experimental prosthetic of their own design. It ached, was all he could focus on. It was like his body knew it didn’t belong there.
Varrich pressed a palm to his remaining eye, wished for sleep to finally come. It didn’t, of course it couldn’t be that easy.
When the light to his room flicked on, he couldn’t help but flinch and cover his face with an arm. The light hurt.
“Mr. Tophrik. Up.” Her voice was firm, not giving him the space to argue (not that he would, of course). The man at her side was quiet, as he often was.
“I’m up,” he murmured softly, voice scratchy from both a lack of using it and his throat being dry. “I’m up, j-just a moment.” And he steeled himself with teeth clenched as he sat up, forced himself to look to the pair, and pulled himself to his feet even as his vision teetered and swam. He kept a hand on the side of the too-cold bed, more unsteady than he’d like to admit. The last thing he wanted was to collapse right then and there in front of them.
“...You don’t look well,” she said.
He would have snorted if he wasn’t worried it would get him slapped. No shit, he thought.
“What’s the issue?” the man asked, butting in before the woman had any chance (from their interactions, Varrich got the feeling she was his apprentice).
While he knew sarcasm with her would get him hit or potentially shocked, using it with him would get him an “upgrade” without being fully put under for it. One time was enough; he knew far better than to try that, now.
So instead, he gestured vaguely at his own face. “The eye. Can’t sleep, h-hurts.” The prosthetic eye, a new addition. All he could think of—hurts. The cause of his terrible headaches over the last few days, something they’d warned him of. He just…hadn’t been ready for it to be this bad.
When the man hummed and grabbed him by the chin, it took everything Varrich had not to jerk away as the eye was studied with such intense scrutiny he almost wondered if it would just get pulled out of his head right then and there.
It wasn’t, thankfully.
“You’re no good to us if you’re so exhausted you can barely stand.” He waved a hand toward the woman, who tilted her head. Varrich was sure that behind her mask, she probably had a brow arched. “Put him under. We’ll disable it for now and rework the design.”
Varrich couldn’t help the way his shoulders sagged with relief. That meant sleep.
…What had happened to him to be grateful for the prospect of being sedated?

oops my hand slipped. here's a Varrich who... has a queerplatonic partner now apparently?? when the Alliance discovered the location of the facility that experimented on him, Terrin sent Inferno Squad and some other troops to tear it down; despite his fear of going back, Varrich insisted on being part of the raid. He made a promise a long time ago, and he intended to keep it.
One part of him never wanted to set foot here again.
The other knew he needed to do this.
And those familiar eyes, wide with fading fear and disbelief and so many other things made it worth it.
“Varrich..?” The man said it with such a small voice that he almost missed it, rising slowly from behind the counter he’d ducked behind when the door was kicked down and blasters fired to down the masked scientists. His eyes looked for but a moment to the two men now dead on the floor, then to the intruders. To the armed-to-the-teeth commander of Inferno Squad, and then Varrich with only a blaster and some light armor. “What are you..?”
One of the oldest in the facility. The one “upgraded” with enhancements for medical care, who’d seen far more people come and go in his time there than anyone else. The one who’d tended to minor injuries that the handlers couldn’t be bothered with, and who Varrich had found himself stitched up by on more than one occasion, and the one who’d closed up likely dozens of bodybags when he couldn’t save them.
“What did I tell you?” And Varrich held out a hand. He couldn’t find the reassuring smile he wanted to offer as a metal hand found his own and squeezed, as if to make sure this wasn’t just some fever dream. “I said if I got out, then I’d come back for you.” His own voice cracked, for just a moment—
And then he was dragged into a tight hug.
Monty. Monty was still alive. So Varrich let himself close his eye—just for a moment—as he pulled his arms around the other man.
It wasn’t a comfortable embrace. Jutting spinal cybernetics threatened to cut fingers, jagged edges of replaced limbs jabbed against flesh, and he could feel the scanner on the side of Monty’s head digging against his temple, but… Varrich didn’t pull away, either.
“I told you,” he murmured.
“Yeah…” He could just about hear Monty’s tears. “Ya did.”

Whumptober 2022 Day 14: Die A Hero Or Live Long Enough to Become a Villain Desperate Measures | Failed Escape | “I’ll be right behind you.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic Commander!Varrich AU Characters: Varrich Tophrik (Meteor - Mirialan), Synnda V'ehsz (Barsen'thor - Zabrak) Warnings: Violence, Blood, Murder
---------------
He never liked going back to Zakuul.
It made his blood boil, seeing the beautiful structures, hearing the chattering and laughing civilians, with no signs that their world was at war.
So, maybe he relished the appearance of the building he’d all but crashed into, in ruin. Shards of glass, threatening to fall hundreds of meters to the ground below. Civilians whimpering, screaming, hunkering down to dodge blaster bolts and flying debris from explosions.
It was the least the damned Spire deserved.
A whisper in his ear—Valkorian? or the Force itself? he couldn’t be sure, not with how unfamiliar he was with the accursed thing having been Force-blind all his life up until he found an ex-Emperor taking up residence in his mind—made him whip around with his rifle poised.
His first shot was deflected by the Knight’s pike, as was the second.
But once he was in range, Varrich reached out.
His prosthetic still felt odd. Clunky. Three fingers instead of five strange to get used to. But the experimental metal held true: When the blade of the pike hit his palm, he was able to shove it away with naught but singed paint.
The Knight’s shocked pause was all he needed. With that same limb, he lashed out—aiming for his neck, to tear at the fabric between his helmet and chest. The claws that made up the ends of the digits did just that, and blood spilled onto the metal as the Knight gasped and grasped for his own neck.
He drew his hand back as the Knight collapsed at his feet, flexed the fingers testily even as blood pooled by one boot. Perhaps he could show Arcann just how nasty his new prosthetic could be… he thought bitterly. Oggurobb had eagerly suggested a poison implant for the clawtips to dispense. It would be a perfect way to return the favor.
Sneering as the Knight choked on his own blood, Varrich used a heavy boot to shove him out of the way before continuing on through the building. He was after…a schematic. He found he didn’t really care what it was for, not when his head scientist had started rambling about it. It was something to make his job easier, and it gave the Commander an excuse to test the upgrades on his new arm on…volunteers, the doctor had cheerfully called them.
Theron had already split off to search out the schematic through the building’s files, which had left the Barsen’thor hovering close at the Commander’s side. Varrich couldn’t particularly say he was fond of having the Jedi somewhere nearby, shrouded by the Force somewhere in the shadows.
Once, he’d respected the man. Called him an ally, trusted him.
Now when they locked eyes, there was distrust and they studied each other like specimens under a microscope.
V’ehsz had noticed long ago, long before nearly anyone else, that Varrich’s time in carbonite had changed him “for the worst,” according to the Jedi. He’d been the first to murmur uncertainties about naming him Commander, would be the first to speak out against his plans and not back down when a heated glare landed on him.
And now he was here.
The Jedi was only there to keep an eye on him.
Varrich’s skin crawled with growing anger.
Each Knight and Skytrooper to cross his path made it spark hotter. Each civilian to scramble away begging, brought his irritation higher.
And then it happened.
V’ehsz had stepped out of his shroud of shadows and Force energy to open a door with his weapon. Inside, were two civilians.
The Jedi’s words were soothing as he assured no harm to them, even as Varrich shoved past to start tearing through drawers and datapads. Though both were quiet, Varrich could feel the other watching him—yet, every time he glanced up to silently challenge the other’s stare, V’ehsz was reading over files or pocketing the occasional drive.
The civilians murmured to each other (their Emperor wouldn’t stand for this, Arcann would have their heads, they were dead men). V’ehsz didn’t pay their words any mind. Varrich felt his lip curling into a snarl the longer the pair whispered to each other. The longer they threatened Arcann’s wrath, the longer they pointed out Varrich’s hand and promised their Emperor would do the same to the other.
“We’ve got everything,” Varrich said instead.
The Jedi only nodded as he dragged his eyes over the room one more time. “Then we should go. Theron has the schematic.”
Varrich tipped his head toward the door. “I’ll be right behind you. This file needs to finish uploading to my drive.” He kept his voice carefully even. As he expected, V’ehsz locked eyes with the visor of his helmet. He was hesitating.
“That’s an order. Get the shuttle ready; I’ll be there shortly.”
And he was gone.
The Commander locked his jaw and waited many long moments, until Valkorian himself spoke up that the pest was gone.
And he drew his weapon.
For the first time in a long time, his hands shook. His remaining one, he felt sweat slick the inside of his glove; the prosthetic, clicked against the stock of his rifle. He took a breath to calm his own nerves and steady his hands as the two civilians cowered back into a corner as the barrel of a rifle stared them down.
One shot.
One body went still.
The second missed as the other scrambled away.
The third and fourth met their marks, and he fell as still as his comrade.
Varrich felt himself locked in place. His prosthetic was creaking from how tightly his hands gripped at his weapon. Maybe his eyes would have even been wide could he see them, or face pallid.
He’d never fired upon unarmed civilians before.
And yet… He couldn’t bring himself to feel guilt for it.
They’d deserved it.
They’d serve as examples to Zakuul what he was willing to do.
He was in the right.
He was.
Really.

Nowhere to Run
Whumptober 2022 Day 2: Nowhere to Run Cornered | Caged | Confrontation
Star Wars: The Old Republic Commander!Varrich AU Characters: Lina Tophrik (Jedi Consular - Mirialan), Varrich Tophrik (Meteor - Mirialan) Warnings: Choking
---------------------
She’d realized, far too late, the mistake that she’d made.
It made her heart ache, seeing what her brother had become.
…No. No, this wasn’t her brother—her beloved twin—anymore. This was the Commander. In all his cruel glory…
She swallowed, brought her blaster closer to her chest as she listened carefully to the forest around her.
It may have been a mistake, but she couldn’t find it in herself to regret it. She would have never forgiven herself if she hadn’t at least tried. It didn’t change the fact that her shoulder ached where the blaster bolt had met it; the smell of burnt flesh made her nose scrunch up, and every movement of her arm had her hissing through her teeth.
She’d kicked off her shoes a while ago, leaving the soles of her feet to become bloody and bruised as she took off through the trees again to the sound of approaching steps.
“Lina!”
His voice was distant. Furious.
She covered her mouth with a hand in an attempt to hide the sound of her panting breaths.
Her own blaster was still warm in her hands, the barrel only just barely being cooled enough to touch it again.
She’d met her mark—if only it wasn’t for his damned armor. She could have finally ended it, ended all the pain he was causing. It would have torn her heart in half, but so be it.
The galaxy at large was more important than her broken heart.
Her dress was torn, her face and arms and feet stung where the underbrush had effortlessly sliced into her skin. The bark at her back was rough and uncomfortable as she pressed herself against it, not daring to move as the sound of heavy boots drew closer.
“Melina!”
The snarl in his voice sent a chill up her spine, and she started running again.
That wasn’t her brother. That wasn’t Varrich. He hadn’t been for a long time. She blinked the tears that threatened to fall away and bared her teeth, took a running leap over a felled tree. Its branches reached out to grab her, ripped a strip from her dress and she cursed as the evidence of her route was left in her wake.
Her shoulders were heaving, and she blindly loaded another bolt into her blaster, not daring to take her eyes off the path she tore through the trees.
A cry ripped from her throat when she nearly ran right off a cliff.
Eyes wide, stance exhausted but defensive, she forced herself to turn around. To face her pursuer.
It didn’t take long for Varrich to emerge from the trees. He stalked forward; his dark helmet and armor and the cape falling over one shoulder swallowed any light to fall on him. He reminded her of the shade stalkers that prowled the wilderness; she only wished this was merely a shade stalker.
But this… Oh, this was so much worse.
She took a step back, reaching her hands out and shoving. Varrich grunted as the Force threw him into a tree behind him, but when he raised his weapon all Lina could do was drop her own and bring her hands up again.
“Please…” Her voice was smaller than she’d ever heard it, and a part of her wasn’t even sure that it was her own. “Stop doing this. It’s not—ghk!”
He strode forward, a prosthetic hand finding its home around her throat and lifting.
She stood on her toes, grateful for the fact that she’d always been a little taller than him, for even as he pushed her back over the cliff, her toes found footholds. She clawed uselessly at the metal fingers squeezing around her neck; they hurt, they cut, and she prayed to the Force that he didn’t have the clawtips open to release poison into her bloodstream.
“Please,” she begged.
His head only tilted. She wasn’t sure what his expression said, not with the harsh angles of his helmet hiding it.
She wasn’t sure she wanted to know, not as his hand only tightened and she gasped desperately for air and tried in vain to pull the fingers away.
This wasn’t her Varrich. He’d died a long time ago.

Alternatively, would you want to tell us about some of the eery mermaid backgrounds, or is it more concepts/vibes than actual stories? (~Dina) ❤️
I'll have you know I'm rubbing my little hands together and grinning like the gd Cheshire Cat right now ajskdl;asjkd Thank you, Dina! 💚💜
It's a little of both, to be honest! Xaerez and Jen are the most fleshed out with actual tales for them, the rest are more-so concepts/vibes.
For Xae and Jen, I made little snippets for both of them a long time ago, so I'll post those and explain a bit more about them!
Xaerez:
The tall tales of old fishermen? Or an ocean predator lurking just beneath the surface..?
They say his hair is made of venomous barbs, his teeth like needles, and claws of steel. They say he’s only ever seen during nasty storms that make the waves rage and tear at the hulls of ships caught in the middle of it all.
They say he waits, watches, for the storm to tear a ship apart to provide a bountiful feast...
He's never been seen by humans save for his shadow beneath the surface, but the stories are enough. He's dangerous, and is said to follow ships for days or even weeks waiting on that perfect storm. Some believe he even helps the storm tear a ship apart.
Jen:
Fishermen say they often hear beautiful songs, far out in the fog. Songs, that promise their greatest desires. Wealth, or love, or fame - anything between, and beyond.
They warn to never follow the song, for a siren’s razor-sharp claws await…
As the tale says, he's a siren. Where Xaerez waits for storms to do the job to give him a meal, Jen lures sailors in himself.
And for concepts I have for some others, but haven't yet figured out how to write their tales:
Terrin: A protective mother with the teeth of a shark
Synnda and Qizulth: Often seen as a pair, curious, cause unintentional damages in their attempts to learn
Varrich: A recluse, doesn't take kindly to his territory being encroached on - especially by humans. Severe injuries, likely from failed attempts to capture or kill him. Just wants to be left alone
Leo: The guide. Points lost sailors in the direction of the nearest land, or leads them through deadly waters - but can also be incredibly dangerous to those foolish enough to attempt to harm or capture her.

What is your favourite thing about the commander!Varrich AU? Which person around him reacts the strongest to his change in character? (~Dina)
Thank you, Dina!! 💚💜
I really love that I'm able to take a heroic character and twist him into a villain. "Fallen hero" isn't a trope ive really had much experience with, so it's in part because of how new it is for me that I really like it.
I enjoy figuring out what's believable, how to make this character who was once widely respected and did his best to save his Republic, into something that makes others cower. How to make him evil without "muahaha *rubs hands together*" (which is fun, dont get me wrong sjshshshs but I knew I needed to approach the "evil warlord" I imagined much differently than any villain I'd ever written). How to make him Still Varrich, but twisted slightly to the left so when you look at him, you KNOW there's no redeeming him, no getting the old Varrich back.
It's just So much different than anything else I've done, y'know? Ugh, I love this universe even if it makes me sad.
I LOVE the challenge.
As for strongest reaction....
Lina is probably the obvious one, but I can't NOT say her. She's HORRIFIED by what he becomes. That's not her brother anymore, that's a tyrant wearing his face.
It's when she discovers he killed unarmed civilians that she tries to kill him herself. When she fails, and he hunts her through the forests of Odessen, she flees and forms a small group of some other Force users to stage an assassination. She loses her life for it, but stands as founder of the Paladins in that AU. Rather than scholars, guardians, and archivists, they're assassins that aim to take out those like Varrich. (Totally not kinda inspired by Assassin's Creed nope not at all)

I wanted to draw some of my babs who either have or get gray hair because it's one of my favorite things to do design-wise <3333
so have a Xaerez and Varrich who were gray premature due to stress, Lina rocking a gray streak not long after Deca's born, and Jen turning gray in the muzzle after retiring
veeeeery quick sketches with lots of errors, but it was nice to draw some of these guys again. I missed them so 💚💜

playing a tiny bit of Role Reversal AU it's such a fun what-if universe! 💞
I need to swap up some of their classes now that I'm able to (Xaerez to sniper, Jen to slinger, Azan to jugg, and Terrin/Celiin probably to vanguard) and I Might give Varrich his natural hair color back, but! I enjoy this universe when I need a change of scenery
Varrich is...strangely chaotic and a rulebreaker as a smuggler. Jen is a jackass as a bounty hunter who just wants credits. Azan barely changed, though is maybe a little ruthless in her fighting style compared to other Jedi, and more open than her Sith self. Leo is really reserved and easy to anger. Qizulth is still rather chaotic, but now more so chaotic good than a chaotic bastard. Synnda is...well, he was an assassin before he was Sith, so he's a little...intense compared to his canon self; still rather reserved and softspoken, tho. Xaerez Actually defected to the Republic and became a soldier who rose through the ranks honorably (and he comes to Despise Garza). And Terrin becomes disciplined and serious???????
left to right, top to bottom:
Varrich Tophrik: Canonically Trooper, now Smuggler Jen Sept: Canonically Smuggler, now Hunter Azan Tarnak: Canonically Warrior, now Knight Leo Vetiko: Canonically Knight, now Warrior Ki'zulthevrynn: Canonically Inquisitor, now Consular Synnda V'ehsz: Canonically Consular, now Inquisitor Rediaex'aere'zortiea: Canonically Agent, now Trooper Rolc'elii'ntinae: Canonically Hunter & Commander, now Agent
