Hi Lee! For the fanfic ask game- C, K, and X? :D
C - what character do you identify with the most?
out of my OCs? probably Vyl. he gets a lot of my trauma and trauma responses, just ramped up a lot, and he's also a way better person than i am. i also, weirdly enough, identify with Scourge a lot, which is probably not a good thing....
K - what's the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?
hmm i have uh. well i mean everything i write is angst basically but. there are a few things that qualify for Top. one of those is just the entire hp au, with its uhhhh manipulation and grooming and all that shit. hilariously, the other three are all ones i've come up with with io! in no particular order:
the saddest possible revans au, which is where we released Shala and Hes into the same universe, got them horribly codependent and in love with each other, and then had them win, kill Vitiate, and replace him for three centuries, becoming eldritch abominations who weren't actually happy and were incredibly broken and literally had both of us sobbing for a Long Time.
the pyrrhic victory au, which focuses on sunlight's version of Ziost. in this one, it actually just goes off a thing they talked about doing in canon but never had time to do before Vitiate ate the planet - a ritual in which Verok used his forcewalking ability to become a bridge, Illitha used the shielding ritual to block Vitiate from the stolen power he got from eating Nathema, and Ari went Avatar Of The Force to properly kill him. the results of that would've been Ver burning out his forcewalking ability entirely and losing the ability to use the Force with any kind of precision; Illitha would've ended up losing a lot of their personality and sense of self, and also probably being reduced down to an average Force-user's strength rather than Vaylin levels of power; Ari would've ended up losing everything about her except for being the Force's avatar of balance and justice.
the Bad End: another step off sunlight's Ziost, this one is where Verok binds Vitiate with the forcewalking ritual and pretty much just becomes.... mini-Vitiate, except the one thing of him that's strong enough to survive is how much he loves Ari, so he's just an eldritch abomination who is horrific and also loyal to his wife, the Jedi Battlemaster. yeah.
X - a character you enjoy making suffer
well this one is easy. all of them, duh! in more specifics... hmm. it's very fun to put Revan through hell, i also unfortunately like hurting the Jedi Dad because he's so like. serene. and he reacts so interestingly to it, he's such a good Jedi. Scourge is, of course, my regular go-to for trauma, since all i have to do is go, alright Scourge what trauma do we have today, and he just dumps an entire horror story on me without any further prompting!

Character Masterlist
so this is an updated version of my last oc masterlist post; it's going to be a work in progress with links being updated as i create bios and whatnot. the end goal is it's going to have all three of my swtor canons and my kotor canon listed here, each character will have a small blurb, and i'll link a bio about each character that has images and a little more in depth description of them and their plot!
under a readmore because it's going to be long.
EDIT: decided to add my mass effect and dragon age blorbos as well, though the dragon age ones are going to be a massive WIP until i finish some playthroughs.
SWTOR/KOTOR
how does a man change the universe?
(kotor fics, solo, connects to swtor canon "like a moth to you, sunlight")
Revan Adarii: a mostly-light-side, incredibly powerful young Jedi with an unprecedented gift for psychometry and a skill with strategy and tactics not often seen, Revan drags herself back to a difficult and painful redemption after falling hard during the Mandalorian Wars and briefly having her memories stripped from her. After the destruction of the Star Forge, she slipped off and started a family with Bastila Shan and Alek, only to vanish into the Unknown Regions for a second time four years later, leaving behind her partners and two children.
Qatya Petheir: young and barely knighted at the start of the Mandalorian Wars, Qatya's gift for strategy and her tireless determination and commitment vaulted her into the position of Revan's third-in-command. after ten years of exile, punishment for activating the Mass Shadow Generator, she returned to the galaxy at large to defeat another Sith threat, finally settling in and rebuilding the Jedi Order as its Grand Master.
canon: start a war
(combined canon with @ipreferfiction)
Lia Vhoss: Lia is a nautolan Jedi knight who served as Satele Shan's padawan during her teenage years. she's one half of a dyad in the Force with her best friend, J'lima Akarr. current Eternal Commander of the Alliance.
Vreila Lanar: Vreila is a miraluka Jedi master and was Syo Bakarn's padawan. a master on the Jedi High Council, she serves as the Republic's and Jedi Order's liaison with the Eternal Alliance and the Master of the Odessen Jedi Enclave.
Kal'vaela Corrin: a cathar soldier who was the youngest and last member of Havoc Squad before it defected to the Empire, Kal is responsible for several of the Republic's top military and intelligence forces defecting and is the CO of Imperial SpecOps unit Blackout Squad.
Vyl Kivan: Vyl is a former twi'lek slave who was freed and sent to Korriban to be trained as a Sith. he had a brief career as Baras' tool, and then as Vitiate's Wrath, before defecting to the Jedi after being pushed to invade Tython. he currently serves as a Jedi master in the Odessen enclave.
Avaanla Ki: known as Darth Aedis, Avaanla is a togruta former pleasure slave, Darth Thanaton's apprentice, the former Dark Councilor for the Sphere of Mysteries, and now serves as one of two co-empresses of the Sith Empire. she also remains the Master of the Revanite cult, though it has much less galactic presence than it used to.
Araala Ki: Araala is a former Jedi knight who fell and turned to the Sith on Corellia. she's the direct apprentice of Darth Nox, the other co-empress of the Sith Empire.
Averr'iis'aloh: known titles for the chiss spy Riisa include Cipher Eight, Legate, and Keeper of Imperial/Sith Intelligence. she currently serves under Theron Shan, Alliance spymaster.
Sa'ziri: Sa'ziri is a twi'lek ex-slave recruited by Darth Arkous into both the Sith and the Revanites. she's a part of the small Sith Academy on Odessen, mostly because she has nowhere else to go.
canon: like a moth to you, sunlight
(shared canon with @sith-shenanigans)
Arielle Tanith: a togruta Jedi knight with the rare power of battle meditation, Arielle spends several years as the Jedi Battlemaster before being captured by Zakuul. she is one of two co-commanders of the Eternal Alliance, leads the Eternal Fleet, and maintains peace in a galaxy unused to anything but war.
Chril'lith'anasin: formerly the Barsen'thor of the Jedi Order, Illitha is a chiss ex-Jedi who walked the tightrope between Jedi and Sith for several years before eventually establishing themself as a Republic-aligned Sith. they are the Rift Alliance's liaison with the Eternal Alliance prior to the two becoming one entity, and often liaise with the Republic on the Eternal Commanders' behalf.
Ktis Kressh: current Empress of the Sith Empire, Ktis is a pureblood Sith and the heir to the disgraced but ancient Kressh bloodline. former pirate captain and occasionally Republic privateer. even-more-former titled apprentice to Darth Thanaton. also a Child of the Emperor.
Callien Ordo: daughter of Jekiah Ordo, champion of the Great Hunt, Callien is clanborn human and spends several years collecting bounties and working with pirates and smugglers. after Zakuul invades and her father is killed, she's drawn back to Mandalore the Avenger's side to become her second in command and frequent liaison with the Eternal Alliance.
Chril'lam'inar: the twin sister of Illitha, Illami is also known as Darth K'imsi, former Councilor for the Sphere of Imperial Intelligence and double agent of the Republic. she now serves the Eternal Alliance's intelligence network.
Niveha Veshari / Niwûihû Wûshaari: Niveha is a pureblood Sith who spends several years serving as Darth Arkous' apprentice before being betrayed and left for dead. she's now a Jedi knight, though she still struggles with the cultural disconnect she feels.
Sozik Veshari: a Sith Lord who formerly served under Darth Serevin, Sozik is a former member of the sphere of Expansion and Diplomacy who served as a diplomat on Voss for several years during the Cold War. after his daughter was betrayed and fled to the Jedi, he left the Empire behind to follow her, eventually finding his way to the Alliance.
canon: hold the hand of the god-child
(shared canon with @ipreferfiction)
Inrokini'kat'rath: Ikatra is a chiss ex-Jedi knight and the current Eternal Commander of the Eternal Alliance. though she once was considered one of the greatest Jedi of her time, she now considers herself a reluctant Sith and is officially affiliated with neither Order.
Aalira Dhey: sister to Mirjal, Aalira is a togruta Cinnagar native and member of the Krath. she's a runaway Jedi padawan and was considered king of the underworld for several years. serves as Vaylin's High Justice on Zakuul.
Vasmi na'Dreshdae: Vasmi is the pureblood Sith former Emperor's Wrath. she knelt to Neyri during the Sith Civil War and now serves as the Wrath of the Sith, Neyri's non-sphere-affiliated right hand.
Akada Szorn: a Ziosti miraluka, Akada is known as Cipher Nine in the Empire and Legate in the Republic. she served under Darth Marr for several years after the dissolution of Imperial Intelligence before fleeing the Empire and becoming an information broker on Zakuul. she serves the Eternal Alliance.
Neyri Qel-Droma: biologically human but culturally Sith, Neyri is the descendant of Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma and is the Jen'ari of the Sith Empire, following a bloody civil war.
canon: the righteous hand of god, the devil you forgot
(shared canon with @ipreferfiction and @sith-shenanigans)
Iaris Kuro: a mirialan man in his early 50s, Iaris is a smuggler of some renown. along with his pirate crew - most of whom he recruited on Rishi, all of them known for their morality, a somewhat rare feature in pirates - he runs supplies for the Jedi Order, maintaining supply lines between Tython and Ossus.
Yatali Kuro: known as Darth Nox in the Empire, head of the sphere of Ancient Knowledge, Yatali is the youngest-ever Dark Councilor in recorded Imperial history. though her past as a Cartel slave and her meteoric rise to power is well-known, her relation to the former Emperor's Wrath and current Alliance Commander is kept quiet.
Qyâsik Dzwokai: Qyasik is the pureblood Sith daughter and heir of Darth Marr. exiled by an Imperial decree the Dark Council couldn't override, she snuck her way back into Sith society as a bounty hunter before becoming the new Empress' political advisor.
canon: this is the road to ruin
Kehree Adull:
Vonyra Dozai:
Zakri Tave: Zakri is a self-admitted heretic Sith Pureblood who, along with zir entire family, was enslaved when zie was a child for that crime. after getting out of slavery and into Sith training due to zir strength in the Force, zie proves zir heresy correct by first taking a seat on the Dark Council, and then becoming the new Emperor.
Kolasei Niket: Kolasei is a cathar bounty hunter who just wanted to prove themself and find a way to survive. instead, when they win the Great Hunt, they find themself forced into joining the culture that genocided their people three centuries ago.
a few final notes: start a war follows the swtor game plots fairly closely in a lot of ways. there's a lot of minor canon divergences, and some characters play different roles than they do in canon, as well as the occasional swapping around of an expansion in the timeline, but it's fairly canon-accurate.
sunlight is fairly canon-compliant through the early expansions and the Zakuul arcs, in terms of broad arcs, but from onslaught and on is heavily canon-divergent, and post-class stories it has quire a few moderate canon divergences.
god-child's canon starts out with an entirely different worldstate in which the Republic fully didn't exist in the majority of the galaxy for a solid fifty years around the kotor era, and that echoes forward into swtor in multiple ways. the biggest story arcs - the class stories, zakuul - remain the same, but everything else is heavily canon divergent, although most of the canon expansions exist in some form or another.
MASS EFFECT
solo mass effect content
Lyrida Shepard: a fully paragon colonist/sole survivor who romances Kaidan, brokers peace between the geth and the quarians, and destroys the Reapers without losing the geth. she survives and builds a family on the Citadel.
unnamed verse shared with @ipreferfiction
Mikka Shepard: the very renegade younger sister of paragon Taryn Shepard, Mikka is earthborn/ruthless and is the Spectre out of the two of them, though she's not the one to sacrifice herself on the Citadel at the end. she romances Javik and is a full biotic.
DRAGON AGE
Desri Surana: a half-elven mage raised in the Denerim alienage before she was discovered to be an apostate and sent to the Circle. Duncan's daughter, though she doesn't know this. probably going to romance a hardened Leliana.
Vivian Hawke: a mostly blue, slightly red mage who romances Anders and campaigns heavily for mage rights both within and without Kirkwall. she supports Anders' decision to destroy the Kirkwall chantry and remains with him after it. her brother Carver is a templar.
Vythral'a Lavellan: First of her clan before she was sent to spy on the conclave, Vythral'a is a very unwilling Herald and a slightly-more-willing Inquisitor, determined to defeat Corypheus and protect her clan. very much loves her people and her culture and would do anything for them. her curiosity and love of unique magic endeared her to Solas, and she falls into a romance with him.

Question for you, Master Vyl - if there was a moment in your life that you could return to and change the outcome of, would you? And what would that moment be?
(This is post-plot Vyl, comfortable on Odessen.)
He hums to himself, leaning back in his chair. There's such an aura of warm peace and serenity around him that even his fingers fidgeting with his robes don't trigger any anxiety. "That's an easy question, actually," he says. He's smiling, a light, bright thing. "There's a couple different places I'd go - the most obvious one is when I told Knight Dorgis to leave Korriban without me, back when I was an acolyte. I was so afraid the Jedi would reject me, then, you know. I didn't trust myself, didn't trust that my beliefs were still true no matter what I had to do to survive. It took me so long to learn that."
He shakes his head and folds his hands together. "I learned a lot of important things about myself and the galaxy when I was serving Baras and the Hand, I'll be the first one to admit that. But looking back on my time in the Empire, I could've learned all those things with the Jedi too, and I would've been hurt so much less. I don't think the things I suffered under the Sith define me to the point that I should've suffered them, because suffering isn't what makes us sapien, and I really don't think it's what makes us grow, either. Healing is what strengthens us, and while we do have to suffer to heal, I think that we can grow just as strong without it too. I don't think anyone should ever feel obligated to appreciate the abuse they went through."
He pauses, the earnest look on his face shifting into something sheepish. "I think I got a little off track, sorry. Oh, but there was another place I'd go back to! I wish that when I'd chosen to send Master Karr back to Tython to heal that I'd taken my crew and Jaesa and gone with him. I think that Jaesa and I would've found each other regardless of everything - we were meant to teach each other, the Force wanted us to - but it might've taken a lot longer and she might've been kept isolated and forced into worse situations if not for what I did."

Vyl Kivan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(unfortunately i only have screenshots of him in the consular playthrough i made for him, so we have none of his outfits when he's in the Empire. whoops.)
Vyl is the youngest of the start a war cast, being only seventeen when the class stories begin. a household slave to a Sith Lord whose son is Force-blind, Vyl is sent to Korriban in the boy's stead and told to become a proper heir for the family, his freedom contingent on his success among the Sith. a very young, but very powerful person with the rare gift of Force empathy, Vyl is an innately Light person and struggles with what becoming Sith means, especially as he's picked up by Darth Baras to be used as yet another tool in the Sith's arsenal. he spends much of his story struggling with morality and philosophy and what sacrifices are acceptable to make for freedom, and juggling his desire to run from the Empire and join the Jedi with the ingrained belief that the things he's done in Baras' service have left him unworthy of the peace that defecting would bring him.
by the time he faces down Baras and stops the coup, Vyl has settled into his role as a tool once again, this time of Vitiate and the Hand, but though he accepts the position, he refuses to sacrifice his own morality and beliefs for what others expect from him. he rejects an attempt to recruit him to the Jedi on Ilum, mostly once again out of his constant internal struggle, though he leaves the planet with a young padawan attached to his hip. when he's deputized by the Dark Council to join his friend and unofficial second-in-command of the sphere of Defense, Rheja na'Korriz, on an invasion of the Jedi homeworld of Tython, however, he can no longer continue arguing with himself. he meets Master Orgus Din there once again, as well as master healer Riali Enaran, and this time ends up accepting the offer to become part of the Order and finally free himself from the Empire and the Sith.
a natural-born consular, Vyl studies Force healing and other mental arts while with the Jedi, and when Zakuul attacks he puts his experiences to good use by fighting in the war. unfortunately, the Republic loses, and Vyl ends up following his long-term partner, Theron Shan, and becoming one of the founding members of the Eternal Alliance. he's a part of the Jedi enclave on Odessen, a member of Alliance High Command, and a well-known Jedi master.
he's also trans :)

1, 7, and 28 for the writers' ask
-commanderfoxtheshield
1. What font do you write in? do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
so i write in Arial, mostly because that's the default for google docs, but now i frankly cannot stand any other font because they all look funky to me now. i got too used to it after like 5 years of using docs
7. what is your deepest joy about writing?
the ability to create. to pour emotions out onto a page, to make other people feel the same things i feel when i think about these characters and their stories and the things that happen to them. i started writing fanfic because i wanted to make other people feel the same way reading good fic made me feel. there's always been something about writing that i've loved, but i really think it's just the distinctly human urge to tell stories and to make things. i'm not artistic, i can't really create in any other way, but i can put words onto paper and hopefully make some people feel some things
28. who is the most delightful character you've ever written? why?
oh, that's a tough one. i have written a lot of characters and they are all near and dear to my heart for various reasons, but i'd probably be able to narrow it down to my Revan and my OC Vyl, for different reasons. Revan is fantastic to write because she's a very unreliable narrator, she falls very hard and her views get twisted and she becomes a fanatic for herself in many ways, but she finds redemption at the end, and her story is just a very powerful one in my opinion about how healing is possible no matter what you go through, even though it doesn't make the things that happened to you go away.
Vyl, on the other hand, is just a character in general who is very very special to me. he's a trans man and a former slave who spends multiple years being forced into doing things that go against his morals and struggling to find his own identity in the middle of that, trying to walk this line between wanting freedom however he can get it and his morality - it's all very exaggerated ofc but a lot of his struggles and traumas are very similar to my own, and as such he's a very personal character who i really love showing to people. also he's just such a KIND person and there aren't a lot of characters who are allowed to stay kind and idealistic without being forced to sacrifice that for the greater good and he gets to keep it, and i love that for him so much!

my dearly beloved @sith-shenanigans commissioned this piece of art for me for Christmas of my "sith warrior", Vyl, and Theron! i don't know the artist, as this was a gift, so i cannot tag them, but i am absolutely over the moon and delighted by this. the pose is so sweet, the two of them look like they were made to fit each other, Vyl stealing Theron's jacket, the way Vyl is both distinctly and visibly trans and distinctly and visibly a man - i keep staring at them because i just love them so much.
no, this is not some "Theron is unusually large" trope, Vyl really is just like 5'2", he's absolutely tiny and space hrt did not make him grow taller, to his everlasting dismay and Vette and Jaesa's delight.

pspspspspspspsp go read my swtor novelization it's gonna be super long and in depth (here's a snippet from one of the chapters):
The k’lor’slugs, at least, he knows how to handle, unlike anything else. And as he walks further into the darkness of the tomb, the lights on the walls start to fade out, and he unclips his practice saber from his leg and flips it on, holds it up so a dim butter-yellow glow washes over the floor and the walls near him. If he’s going to figure out the layout of the tomb with the Force, he needs to do it now, probably, before he leaves the cleared-out perimeter the soldiers set up and stumbles onto more slugs, or whatever else is living down in these tombs. Tuk’ata, maybe, and other worse things he hasn’t seen. Guardians of the tombs, protecting them from intruders.
He is an intruder here, on these bloody sands, and he may be able to pacify Korriban’s beasts, may be able to walk into its tombs like he belongs, but that doesn’t mean the planet will forgive him, and he’s only been here for a little while but already he can tell that this world remembers. The Force is so strong here, seeping through the cracks in his shields, laying against his skin, and when he reaches out into it he’s nearly overwhelmed with a deep, ancient malevolence.
Out in the valley, he’d heard - felt - the acolytes who have died in the Valley of the Dark Lords, over the thousands of years Korriban has trained new Sith, but now, here under its surface, all he can feel in the Force is the planet itself. As hungry as the k’lor’slugs and so old even the Sith can’t remember its past, Korriban has claimed these tombs as its own. And oh, the planet could lead him exactly to the warblade he seeks - but taking anything from Korriban has its price, and Vyl has no idea what kind of price he’ll have to pay.
Have to, because what other choice does he have? He has to complete this trial, and he can’t take too long to do it either. He’s got no supplies but the pair of ration bars and his practice sword, he’s not allowed to go look for anything else; he could probably find his way through the upper level of the tomb and make it to the Academy to look for- anything to help him down here, but Tremel’s orders were clear. If he’s not strong enough to make it through this tomb, this trial, alone, with nothing but his will and the Force, then he doesn’t deserve to be Sith.
(And the Force shall set me free, the Sith Code says, but what about this - stumbling through a dark tomb that despises all who wander its halls and would gladly leave them all dead - teaches that the Force is the path to freedom? Freedom is not and cannot and will never be the title of acolyte and admittance into the Academy grounds, because becoming Sith like this is tying your name and your worth and your power to another person who holds a boot to your neck and manacles around your wrists and they may be longer chains and a further reach than anything before, but how is that freedom? How is rising up and killing the person who was supposed to train you some kind of great step into the Force when the Force is everywhere, both within and without?
The Sith Code may say that through victory, my chains are broken, but with every time they repeat the Code, the Sith bind themselves further with the chains of their anger and their arrogance (arrogance, not confidence, it’s too loud and brash to be anything else), and they’ll never have true victory when everything they fight against is within.
Vyl will never reach for the Force in that way, will never pour all of himself into the abandonment of peace (because what is peace but balance, and what is balance but what the Force always seeks?) for some grasp at a victory he can never achieve. Sith he may be forced to be, but he’ll always have to live under a set of chains (Mavis’, whoever his master ends up being, and their master besides, and the chains that are just- expectations of life in the Empire and the knowledge that there is nothing he can ever do to change it), and if he spends his whole life searching for some kind of- victory that can break those chains, he’ll never be able to feel the freedom he has.)
He has no choice. And so Vyl takes a deep breath in, as steady as he can manage, and he drops his shields and opens his mind to the Force itself, to Korriban itself, and he lets the awareness of the world and all its bloody horror and deep gnawing hunger rush into him. For a moment, he is nothing; the ground spins beneath his feet (impossibly fast and yet inexorably slow, like gravity, like the galaxy on its axis, like all the stars in their endless rotation) and all there is is the constant jangling shriek of the Force, all pain and blood and bone and death, and he is drowning, he will be consumed, Korriban is hungry and it wants to swallow him and-
Vyl grits his teeth and clenches his fist around his saber and reaches for the Force and whispers, show me where I need to go.
A price, the planet, the Force, echoes back to him, there will be a price, there is always a price, knowledge is never free.
And he lifts his chin (can breathe, maybe, almost, it’s all too much but his boots are steady on the stone because if nothing else he can feel Korriban and that is never going to change, now) and he says, I know.
He thinks, if a massive ancient entity was capable of laughter, Korriban would be laughing at him as the horrible presence withdraws, leaving behind an- awareness, almost, a knowledge that whenever he sets his feet on these sands, these stones, he will know exactly where to go, what he’s looking for. And in exchange-
He’s not sure, not quite yet, but he knows he’s given a piece of himself away (and it wasn’t his self to give, not yet, not until he survives this and becomes an apprentice, because until he’s Sith he’s nothing but a slave and how can he bargain himself away - even if it’s all he has to give - when he doesn’t even own himself?), to an entity that will never care for him except to consume.
And as he strides off further into the depths of Ajunta Pall’s tomb, the darkness of Korriban closing in around him, he hopes that the bargain he’s just made won’t ruin his chances of finding freedom.

what place does Vyl like most on Tython?
This is just. So horribly Vyl but the answer is - the Temple itself. There are so many calm and peaceful and joyful emotions built into it, generations of Jedi have walked these halls, and it's so Light and warm - it's a reminder to him that he's no longer alone, no longer the only one like him. Tython welcomes him and he loves it, but the Temple is home.

But in the race to protect their home, they might find themselves consumed- or worse, torn apart forever.
Born a slave to a Sith family, Vyl Kivan has never felt comfortable with the reality of life in the Empire, no matter how little his opinion matters even to his fellow slaves. When he's sent to Korriban to learn the ways of the Sith and apprenticed to one of the most dangerous Darths in the Empire, he'll have to decide if he values his morality over his newfound freedom- or his life.
Rheja has been Sith since she was eight, taken to train with students just as bloodthirsty as she had to learn to be. Years of Korriban have prepared her to be apprentice to one of the most cunning and dangerous Sith in the Empire—until that position is taken and she is apprenticed to Darth Marr instead, thrown into a new world of intrigue and backstabbing nothing could've prepared her for.

it is having emotions about Vyl hours......
In a cell in one corner, appearance warped a little by the red ray shields, a human man is kneeling, eyes closed, murmuring snatches of a phrase to himself under his breath. The closer Vyl gets, the better he can hear - “There is no emotion, there is peace,” the man is saying, and the words resonate somewhere in Vyl’s chest. “There is no ignorance, there is knowledge-”
His foot scuffs against the floor, and it’s enough for the man’s eyes to fly open, his gaze immediately locking onto Vyl’s. Vyl takes a step back, instinctively, glances over his shoulder - there’s no one around, not even the probe droids he’s seen everywhere, recording, and he swallows hard. He needs to get to his trial, but there’s something pulling him close and closer to the man in the cell, and the jailer can wait (feels amused, when he stretches his senses out, and there’s another jolt of pain from the interrogation room and he has to swallow the nausea). Knash probably won’t even notice, really, and as long as no one else is around… Vyl crosses the space between himself and the man’s cell in a quick few steps, drops down to one knee in front of him so he doesn’t have to stand. It’s clear he’s not in good shape, has been through no few rounds with the inquisitors, but there’s still an aura of peace around him that soothes away the lingering fear and unease crawling across Vyl’s skin.
The man is still just kneeling there, watching, waiting almost, and Vyl finally swallows and asks, “Are you a Jedi?”
It’s the only thing he can think of that would make the man feel this- this Light.
“I am,” the man - the Jedi - says, inclining his head, and somehow it’s still a shock to hear him speak back. “Knight Quorian Dorjis. It’s a pleasure to meet you, acolyte; I haven’t felt anything Light in- I’ve lost count of the days.”
Goddess, if the inquisitors catch him talking to a Jedi like this, they won’t care what he thinks about being Sith, but he can’t sense anyone else around, and the corridor is still empty when he casts a furtive glance over his shoulder, so with a deep breath he turns back to the Jedi, who’s still watching him with a steady look on his face. “My name- is Vyl,” he offers, and Quorian smiles, just a little flicker of a thing. “I’m supposed to be down here for a trial, but I’m not looking forward to it,” he adds with a slight shiver. “I don’t like it down here.”
“It’s the Dark,” Quorian says, quietly. “It’s everywhere here - it sinks into you, and it’s hard to push it away.”
Vyl nods, pushes one lek back over his shoulder a little absently and twists his fingers together. “It’s the planet, really,” he says. “Not just the Sith. The planet is- Well, you’ve been here, you can feel it.”
“You’re more in tune with the Force than most, to sense that,” Quorian says, and there’s almost a question in the words. And he’s already told too many people about the abilities he’s not supposed to acknowledge - and maybe Quorian is a Jedi, maybe he wouldn’t use it against Vyl, but if the inquisitors manage to break him-
“I just listen to it,” he says with a shrug, and it’s not entirely a lie. “What were you saying, before you noticed me?”
Something shifts in the Jedi’s eyes. “The mantra?” he asks, and Vyl nods, and there’s another near-smile. “The meditation mantra, part of the Jedi Code - I can recite it for you, if you’d like.”
“Please,” Vyl says, almost hardly daring to breathe. Even what little he’d heard had made far more sense than the Sith Code ever has, and he wants- he wants something he can believe in, even when he’s Sith. “I… I would like that.”
The smile widens, and then Quorian closes his eyes and there’s something almost trancelike in his face and body language as he speaks again. “There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force.” The words have the smooth cadence of near-ritual to them, and there’s something soothing about them, almost, and Vyl commits the mantra to memory, offers the Jedi an almost-shy smile.
“Thank you,” he says quietly, and Quorian returns the smile. “I- like it a lot better than the Sith Code - the Sith philosophy never made any sense to me, at least not the way most Sith seem to take it. They aren’t freeing themselves from anything, and isn’t peace what the Force wants?” He stops, shakes his head a little and looks away. “Sorry, I- philosophical discussions with an acolyte are probably the last thing you want while you’re in prison and being interrogated regularly.”
And the Jedi laughs, low and hoarse but clearly truly amused. “You’re right,” he says, “though it’s a topic I’d be more than willing to talk to you about somewhere other than Korriban. You shouldn’t stay; the inquisitors will be back soon, and I don’t want to get you in trouble.”
Vyl lets out a sigh, finds himself slumping inward a little, though of course he knows Quorian is right. If he gets caught… “I have a trial to get to anyway,” he says, pushes himself carefully to his feet. “I’ll try to come back to see you later, if I can - I don’t think there are rules saying acolytes can’t talk to the prisoners, and I want to-” He stops, shakes his head a little. “I like you better than my overseer,” he admits, and Quorian smiles.
“Unfortunately,” he sighs, “there’s not much I can teach you from a cell. May the Force be with you, Vyl.”

vyl, 95?
95. How do they feel about bugs? Scared? Fascinated?
Oh that's a good question! Vyl is definitely the person who scoops up spiders and takes them outside. He'd really rather not have bugs inside, but they're just funky lil dudes, he's certainly not going to kill them! Unless they're like, in a position to actively harm people. ..... This is probably really not a surprising answer is it.
(He hates mosquitoes, though. They always seem to bite his lekku)

for the ask thing! I can't pick just one so 1 for beloved Vyl, 3 for girlboss Revan and 8 for my girl Qatya ✨
Vyl - 1. homemade food or take out?
homemade, every time. something something making food for people is a labor of love and shows kindness. he's not a naturally good cook, and it's not like anyone taught him anything about it when he was a slave or on Korriban, but he spends hours in hyperspace on the holonet looking up cooking videos and teaching himself.
Revan - 3. travel back in time or travel to the future?
hmmmm honestly this depends on what era of Revan we're looking at? mando wars and Sith years Revan would travel to the future to see if she won, if everything worked out, if she really did save the galaxy; post-kotor Revan would do neither, but if she had to choose it'd be the past, to stop herself from going after the Star Forge. SoR era Revan is too focused on killing Vitiate, but i think she'd travel to the past if only to kill him quicker with her knowledge of how the future turned out the first time. and Revan during kotfe/kotet/onward - the swtor expansions after the confrontation on Yavin - would want to travel back to the past, to the few years after kotor but before she and Alek went after Vitiate again, just to have a little more time with the people she loves, who are now all ghosts. man that's depressing isn't it!
Qatya - 8. happy endings or cliffhangers?
this is another one that changes over time. before the war, cliffhangers for sure - she liked the suspense, the intrigue. she was a young teenager, and then a young adult, and she liked the drama of it. then she went to war. then she spent three years breaking herself to pieces for a chance at victory, only to be completely shattered by that victory when it came, and after that- happy endings, absolutely. she wanted the characters, at least, to get everything she didn't, to get the things she's half-convinced aren't real in this galaxy. over a decade later, when she and Atris and her crew are rebuilding the Jedi, she may know that happy endings are possible, even for her, but she still prefers them. she's had her fill of fear and uncertainty.

SWTOR character masterlist
i had a couple people asking me about this, so under the cut is a list of my swtor ocs, who they romance, some basic info, and reference pictures!
1) Lia Vhoss, Jedi Battlemaster and my canon Outlander - she and Lana are very married and extremely adorable together, and in my canon they’re actually in a polycule with a vaguely redeemed Vaylin (who Lia refused to murder)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Master Vreila Lanar, one of the youngest masters on the Jedi High Council, Barsen’thor of the Order. she and Felix are together and by the time kotfe happens they have a son together. she’s the Republic’s official representative to the Eternal Alliance before the merge.
Tumblr media
3) Myiar Denon, pirate king of the criminal underworld. he’s not really with anyone, per se, but that’s mostly because he’s sleeping with like five different partners right now (including Senator Dodonna, who he freed, and at one point including Darmas, who he murdered). he’s definitely chaotic neutral leaning evil and follows the money.
Tumblr media
4) Kal’vaela Corrin, commander of Havoc Squad, one of the most decorated soldiers in the Republic military. will commit war crimes if ordered to. Garza loves her, others hate her, but she’s gods-damned effective. married to Elara.
Tumblr media
5) Avaanla Ki, Darth Nox, Empress of the Sith Empire in my canon - one of the youngest Dark Councilors in recorded history, she took over the Empire after Marr’s death and is very happily married to her disaster pirate husband. they’re the bane of half the Empire but she’s a gods-damned good Empress and so powerful nobody actually dares to go against her. (she uses a lightsaber pike and i love her so much god)
Tumblr media
6) Vyl Kivan, formerly the Emperor’s Wrath, literally more Light than either of my two Jedi, defected to the Republic and joined the Jedi after Ziost’s destruction. he’s dating Theron and they’re a pair of dumbass sappy idiot dorks. he’s gay and also trans, we support him (he, Lia, and Avaanla are my favorite characters ask me about them they have BACKSTORIES and shit i adore them so much, especially this dumb sweet boy)
Tumblr media
7) Karca Cadera. she’s the most recent winner of the great hunt and she’s very Mandalorian, married to Torian (in case you couldn’t tell by the name lol), bounty hunts for the money but also for the challenge of it. honorable warrior type.
Tumblr media
8) and, finally, Averr’iis’aloh my beloved, Riisa, my agent who i adore. she activated the Eradicators to catch Jadus and extremely regretted it, spent her time undercover in the SIS really struggling with how they never treated her like a number, let Ardun Kothe live, and finally ended up choosing to become a double agent after she defeated the Star Cabal. after the Eternal Empire attacked, she ended up installing herself as Keeper of the restored Imperial Intelligence, where she served for seven years before eventually getting caught. she pulls off some incredible shit that gives the Republic a huge edge and they end up freeing her and bringing her to the Republic, where she joins the SIS openly. she’s technically with Vector but i’m also very very attached to shipping her with a friend’s chiss OC so she also sort of has a girlfriend back on Csilla.
