Hallakgungi

Hallakgungi became the deity who protected the mythological realm of the Fields of Seocheon (Hangul: 서천 꽃밭, literally flower fields of the West).

The supreme deity, Okhwang Sangje, came to Sara Doryeong and Wongang Ami (Hallakgungi’s parents) in a dream summoning them to be the Igong (also known as Kkotgamdok, literally 'administrator of flowers'), the guardian of the Fields of Seocheon. The long journey was too much for Sara Doryeong and she pleaded with her husband to sell her and their unborn child into slavery in order for one of them to reach the fields. After living a life being protected by his mother, Hallakgungi was able to leave the cruel household in order to find his biological father.

Wongang Ami was tortured in the wake of Hallakgungi’s absence as she had denied Cheonnyeon Jangja (the man who bought her and her son) to have sexual intercourse with her on numerous occasions. In the meantime, Hallakgungi was able to reach the Fields of Seocheon and find Sara Doryeong and seek revenge on Cheonnyeon Jangja’s family by utilitzing the Flower of Weeping, Flower of Laughter, and the Flower that Brings Destruction Through the Evil Mind. He was able to save his mother by means of disguise and using the five Flowers of Reincarnation to revive her. When they returned he took over his father’s job as the Igong and his mother and father retreated somewhere in the heavens.

[ALERT SPOILERS FOR GOH EP 525]

I need to say, the moment Subhuti told Mori that it was his final trial, and that he had to defeat his master to break the cycle of Samsara, I actually felt extremely bad for Mubong as well.

To explain things first, the Samsara implies the cycle of endless sufferings, and reincarnations. More specifically, in Buddhism concept, life is suffering, and Karma will make you reincarnate, and suffer in your next life as well, kinda like a life lesson, or a trial. And the way to reach Nirvana and enlightenment is to accept that life is suffering and be at peace with it to reach true happiness. Simply. Only then you'll break your cycle of Samsara and your next life won't be suffering (and you'll become a Buddha I think...?)

Now, when we look at Okhwang's speech to Mori, he said that in the great scheme of things, Mori could never defeat Tathagata simply because it was his Karma. Endless suffering. He was just into Buddha's palm. This is his cycle of Samsara for offending him.

When you think about it for Mubong, it's actually the same thing for him. All his suffering, everything he lost, and all of his life decisions were meant for that very moment he became Maitreya, to fight Mori. His own cycle of Samsara.

In other words, Mubong was never the one in control, he actually was Tathagata's pawn since the very beginning. His decisions weren't remotely his, it was just his Karma that was decided for him. What convinces more is that he fell in love with a literal descendant of Gaia, and that was probably what started it all. (Knowing how much the Gods appreciated Gaia amirite-)

Another evidence is simply that when the four Pillars of Fate, especially Subhuti, refered to their master, it wasn't "Mubong". To them, it was Tathagata. Meaning Mubong is just not there in a way. Tathagata is using him, and not the other way around.

Pushing this analysis further, Mori and Mubong followed two opposite paths after losing everything :

In Buddhism, we could say Mori followed the path of Deva. He changed for the best and accepted his suffering.

On the opposite hand, Mubong followed the path of Asura, also known as the path of Destruction. He became an anti-God, just like Asuras.

Mori is most likely the closest to reach enlightenment according to that.

I really do hope Mubong will get redemption though, and manage to break his cycle of Samsara too, so he can finally be happy in his next life.

NAME.  teok ki EYE COLOR.   dark brown HAIR STYLE / COLOR.  long and normally a chestnut color. does not style it much, but did have bangs for a while. HEIGHT.    5'3" CLOTHING STYLE.  minimalistic and inexpensive, with occasional ( simple ) jewelry. white or pastel color scheme. BEST PHYSICAL FEATURE.  gets a lot of compliments for her body, but blushes if someone compliments her eyes.

FEARS.  losing control. especially with her emotions. GUILTY  PLEASURE.  pastries. BIGGEST  PET  PEEVE.  people who are rude for absolutely no reason. though she has sympathy for them too. AMBITIONS FOR THE FUTURE.  ok but if there’s something she has learned it’s how she cannot plan the future. she no longer plans things out, and before getting married she just assumed her future would consist of the same as her past. boy was she wrong.

FIRST  THOUGHTS  WAKING  UP.   various and potential breakfast recipes. though she usually ends up with pancakes regardless. WHAT  THEY  THINK  ABOUT  MOST.  duties. WHAT  THEY  THINK  ABOUT  BEFORE  BED.   going through her schedule for the next day. THEY  THINK  THEIR BEST  QUALITY  IS.   her diligence.

LAYER  004 :   WHAT’S  BETTER ?

SINGLE  OR  GROUP  DATES.   both is fine, though she could go on thousands of single dates and never tire of it. TO  BE  LOVED  OR  RESPECTED.   respected ?? ki vc: love means nothing without respect. BEAUTY  OR  BRAINS.   brains. she is the least vain, but undoubtedly feels attraction towards her ‘type’. DOGS  OR  CATS.  both !

LAYER  005 :   DOES  HE…

LIE.  not on purpose, but she keeps things to herself for various reasons, not always sharing everything. BELIEVE  IN  THEMSELVES.  she does, even though she has had some doubts about things. which is normal. BELIEVE  IN  LOVE.   yes; to the point of being kind of uncomfortable with its power and influence. WANT  SOMEONE.  she finally got who she didn’t know she wanted.

LAYER  006 :   HAS  HE  EVER…

BEEN  ON  STAGE.   she would NEVER. DONE  DRUGS.  nope. CHANGED  WHO  THEY WERE  TO  FIT  IN.   not beyond adopting someone’s customs or preferences.

LAYER  007 :   FAVOURITES.

FAVOURITE COLOUR.  soft !! ivory, cotton, marble ++ FAVOURITE  ANIMAL.   ....anything other than rabbits would be outrageous. FAVOURITE  BOOK.   she’s not a reader, but magazines are fine. FAVOURITE  GAME.  anything that is inclusive and fun, since she sees games as means of entertainment for potential guests etc.

LAYER  008 :   AGE.

DAY  THEIR NEXT  BIRTHDAY  WILL  BE.   n/a. HOW  OLD  WILL  THEY  BE.  she exists outside time and dimension :^)

BEST PERSONALITY.  someone who is tolerant, hard-working and authentic. BEST EYE COLOR. dark. BEST HAIR COLOR. dark ( she has a type ok ). BEST THING TO DO WITH A PARTNER. exploring each other in every way possible.

I  LOVE   the family i’ve been blessed with. I  FEEL   that anything is possible. I  HIDE   my feelings to spare others. I  MISS  okhwang ( and the people that come with it ). I  WISH   that i had opened my eyes sooner.
