A common complaint with secret santa events is that sometimes people are disappointed with receiving art from less skilled artists than themselves.

Regardless of your thoughts on that opinion, some events choose to pair up participants of similar art skill to mitigate that. We leave it to the people participating to decide how that aspect of the event should be handled.

If "yes" wins, we will use the portfolio everyone submits to pair everyone up with someone roughly the same skill level as them.

If "no" wins, assignments will be random, with anyone of any art skill being able to gift and receive a gift from anyone of any art skill as well.

Of course, participants on other participants' blacklists, or participants with wishlists and blacklists that do not mix will not be assigned together no matter which option wins.

How do you think Pip and Herbert realized their feelings for ech other

The questions are getting harder and harder, anon huh

But it was interesting to think about it,,,,,,,,, (And how to write it, given my language barrier).

Pip clearly loves and values him very much as a friend, even talks about this love and how he wants Herbert to be happy. (I am insanely with by how touched Pip was that Herbert blossomed and finally caught his chance) (albeit with Pip's help).

I don't know how to answer this question still, but I feel a very important short but sweet moment near the very end. Like when Pip mentions that Herbert has been told about Pip's role in his success at work. The fact that their friendship has grown stronger, although it would seem so much stronger.

So if you have to choose, I think that's a very important point :')

Apart from the fact that they already behave very very lovely for 90% of the book

So I might as well pick any moment from their life together.

How do you deal with grief? Not grief for death, but... I am not sure what it is.

I am grieving that which I never had. I am missing things and people that, as far as I understand, are simply metaphors because the truth is too much. What am I supposed to do with that, with this emotion that I can barely grasp the causes of? This is horrific.

This life is not mine, I am barely even myself. I lack history, memory, being. I would like to cry, perhaps-- but I won't.

Still, it hurts.

If the context helps-- I am a fictional introject, but my melancholy here stems not from remembering, but from the absence. I have no memories of Before, I just have the barest basic details of the people and place that make up my source (including myself!), and that is incredibly terribly painful.

I understand that for us, addressing the ... I believe they are called substitute beliefs, is the only option. Remaining close to source as in identification is... not good for us, personally. Others do as they will but we cannot do that. I cannot do that.

I want to keep my name, the few details I do have. Beyond that, I ... don't know. I don't know what to do with this, how to approach these metaphors, this ... hurt.

Advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Hmm! Very jagged thoughts, but. :')

I like to think Biddy isn't just living with relatives, but Mr Wopsle is her guardian, still obsessed with the dream of being a theatre-goer. She was still Pip's childhood friend, albeit older by a couple of years.

Joe is still a blacksmith because his business hasn't gone anywhere these days. It's probably a long-standing family business that Joe very reverently wants to keep and pass on to Pip if he wants to. Orlik is still his employee, and Mrs Joe still finds the case completely unprofitable.

That's why Pip's hands are still rough, in burns and calluses from working in the forge. Because I really like that detail, and I don't want to lose it to modern-au.

Estella and Miss Havisham live in the same old but very authentic mansion , without many conveniences. But Estella did have some technical things, like a radio and simple pleasures.

I like to imagine that she wore some kind of "old-money" and was part of this whole still very outdated, class-conscious section of wealthy families/people. With their country clubs and meetings and mini golf games.

Drummle, and subsequently Pip would have fancied that leisure time too. Pip would obviously like to be a member of some such country club, with Herbert.

The Pockets, too, are still quite an old solid family, from the impoverished aristocracy. They live rather average lives, but they can afford nannies and cleaning services. And Mr Pocket is still a teacher/tutor. Maybe a professor at some University who still lectures on parenting ahahh.

About Magwitch's monetary patronage, I think it would be appropriate for Pip to have the opportunity to get into a cool university without any problems. There are no gentlemen, so let Magwitch wish him a good future in more modern realities

Mr Pocket might just be a professor at such an institution + a private tutor that Jaggers has roped in to help Pip with his studies and stuff. Startop and Drummle are also his students.

Herbert and Pip will rent a flat near the university, and I'm still deciding how I like it. For them to study together, or for Herbert to work as a trainee somewhere without pay.

Estella and Pip cross paths periodically at country club meetings, and watch Drummle fly out of a golfcar headfirst. While it's being filmed by a disturbed Startop, who didn't really expect it to end this way.

Also, I like to think that Herbert is openly bisexual and Clara is his close friend.
