Ethan suspected Noah didn't mean it. Not that Noah was usually dishonest. If anything, Noah was usually brutally honest. But there was something in her eye, in the way that she stared at him, hard, for a while after speaking while he gathered his thoughts. That didn't look to Ethan like she didn't care. If anything, it looked like she cared more than she wanted to.
That seemed more like Noah. She was a private person, yes, but even so, he'd gathered that relationships, romantic or otherwise, weren't her strong suit. She liked to believe that she didn't need anyone, and was wary of the idea that anyone might need her. So caring--about him, or about anything else? It likely didn't sit well with her.
"I don't think that's true," he said softly, weighing the idea in his mind as he spoke. Sometimes, Ethan felt like he needed a map to understand her, but this seemed pretty obvious.
Noah didn't like that answer, a fact which did not surprise him. "Well, it is," she said, absolutely unconvincingly. "I don't."
"I think you do care," he pressed on. His tone was soft, almost like he was talking to himself. Maybe, in a way, he was. After all, Noah had said that she didn't care to him, and it stung. Maybe, more than convincing her that she cared, or that she should care, what he needed was to convince himself that it shouldn't hurt. But Ethan really felt, in his gut, like he was on to something. "I just think that...scares you."
Noah's eyes went wide at that. "You have no fucking idea what you're talking about," she answered, turning away from him. That frustrated Ethan--he'd been relying on watching her to make sense of all this. "Leave me alone."
He sighed, reaching out just shy of putting his hand on her shoulder. He shouldn't touch her unless she said it was okay. "You shouldn't be alone. You deserve more." He couldn't force her to accept that, but he could at least tell her. That was something.

Noah's already forgotten their name when they bring her over a drink. She smiles, taking a sip and gives him a once-over. Attractive, fit, seemingly unattached... The only problem? He isn't Ethan.
It's a problem she doesn't want to have.
She breaks away, making some excuse--a phone call, gotta find a friend, anything. As nice of a distraction as it would be, she's not in the mood. It's a little difficult when the only person on her mind is...
She blinks and Ethan's suddenly appeared beside her. The universe seems must think they're being hilarious. "Oh, hey... Didn't realize you were here." If she had, she might've reconsidered coming at all. But Ethan didn't need to know that.
There's an odd expression on his face. Uncertain and a little strained. It looks like he's debating about what he wants to say to her before finally finding his nerve. "Did he make a pass at you?"
She raises a brow, surprised. Has he been watching her? How is she supposed to reply to that? "Why? Does it bother you?"
It's the wrong response apparently. Ethan makes a noncommittal sound, glancing away when she tries to prods further. But Noah spots irritation when his jaw tenses.
Oh, he's jealous. Technically it should bother her. What right did he have to be considering the circumstances between them? Out of the pair of them, she's not the one in a "committed" relationship. It should bother her, but it doesn't. If anything, she delighted at the thought.
How fucked up is that?
Still, Noah doesn't let the suspense remain. If it were anyone else, she'd consider a bigger jerk about it. "He did, but I'm not interested. Told him I'm not, anyway." She shrugs. "Not that you care though, right?" She's not going to win any points by stooping to stupid Barry's level.

because I literally can't stop thinking about this, it is still SO weird to me the way there are so many people in the OC fandom who just don't engage with any lgbt content at all (except for maybe some rhodestead stuff). like whether it's reesker, anything to do with ethan being bi, sevasey, bi/lesbian erin etc. there's nothing. there's a small group of us who DO create lgbt content and I love us, but I just really really hate it. like it had never occurred to me before that shipping one character with lots of different people Wasn't a thing some people do, but apparently I should have thought harder because it literally feels like people latch onto their canon ships and then that's it.
like I get it, I love stellaride, but liking other ships that feature those characters doesn't mean you've betrayed them? idk I guess I just think it's really fun to look at how different the dynamics would be if characters were in relationships with people other than their canon partners, but maybe that's just me
(also. shipping something doesn't mean you think they should get married and be together forever. i LOVE the concept of sarah x noah, but as one of those relationships that was doomed to fail. AAAAHH too many questions! Goodness! XD No, I’m just kidding, thank you!
1: Your first OC ever? That’s definitely going a while back. I can’t possibly remember my very first OC but my first written one was a mermaid that could fly named Scarlet. She was for an incredibly crappy TMNT story I wrote XD
2: Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs? Oh god, I so do. I’m going to be a parent who chooses favourites, aren’t I? Although it’s more of a group of OCs rather than just one favourite. I have way too may for just one.
5: If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? Okay this is a really hard one XD I mean I want all of them to be popular but the first one that pops into mind is a drone named Troy. He’s still my proudest and first angsty creation (In the series he is in). He was literally created out of an angsty idea. I love him.
11: Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a “sunshine”? Fucking Lively. Definitely lively, he’s on the dim side but that’s probably why he can be happy in the middle of a war. There are quite a few other sweeties but he’s probably the l i v e l i e s t XD Unless this is sarcastic, if it’s sarcastic than probably Sheldon. He managed to ruin donuts but that’s a story for the actual story XD
17: Any OC OTPs? Ooohh boy hold onto your seat, a flood of names is about to be coming your way. Alright so Troy x George, Lively x Lynx, Bill x Nye, Phil x Bartholomew, Carlos x Pablo x Tony, Deepstrike x Tyler x Soundblaster, Wreckcircuit x Error, There is an OT10 and I love every single one of them, Ominous x Oscar, Py x Darius, Romeo (I actually have a drawing of him done) x Rico. Non-TLAD (Rust Dusk x Break-Bulk) And like so many more that I’m gonna be like ‘damn it I forgot them!’ later but honestly I think that’s quite a few right there XD I’d go into more detail but I doubt there is enough room on here.
19: Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why) Honestly all of them mean so much to me but again I’ll probably have to go with Troy. When it doubt, go with him XD I mean most of the characters I have are either pieces of me or things that I want to be. Troy is kind of both of those things, what I am and what I want to be. He tries to be there for everyone and sometimes it feels like there is no one there for him. Though he does have friends and he does his best, it doesn’t stop him from becoming down. When ever I’m having a depressed night, I can always put it in him, translate my thoughts into his own and it always makes me feel better because I can give him someone to help him with his issue (my issue) at any given moment. It’s therapeutic and he means a lot to me even as his own individual self, I’d honestly love to meet him in real life XD
25: The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?) Troy X’D Although he is much taller than me.
34. Do you have any twin characters? Yes I do! I have Ominous and Neuro who don’t really get along too well and first get split up by faction and then by alternate dimensions! Ominous sees Neuro again but alas Neuro never sees Ominous again. Also ‘Damien and Desmond. Demetrius and Violet’. But those ‘’ are drone babies. And then Renegade and Genocide are twins although they don’t look alike because they had the same carrier but not the same sire so it’s a little bit complicated! I really need more twins though honestly. Only non-TLAD ones I have are Dakota and Dubstep.
40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share! Honestly just getting to create characters is amazing. Especially ones from TLAD which is a series I’m working on with a friend. So just getting to share ideas, laugh, cry, and create new lives is amazing! Not to mention it’s pretty fantastic when I pull out my ‘Angst Beast’ card and start throwing some heart breaking shit into the mix XD
48. OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure. Goodness there are so many! I’m a sucker for sweeties. Honestly Inter Phy with all her symbionts, Troy, Ominous, Oscar, Tyler, Lively, Soundblaster, Ethan, Tyson, Noah or Neil (I can’t remember which is which but they’re both nice though I love to refer to one of them as a glazed cinnamon roll cause he’s sweet and pure, but so not when it comes to the berth XD) Bill, just like, so many of them. And then non-TLAD ones would have to be Data Axis, Static Surge, Grappler (Alien), (Humans) Amelia, Keena, Celeste, and Amber.
50. Give me the good ol’ OC talk here. Talk about anything you wantIf you want. Ah, this question holds too much power!!!! Honestly 90% of my Ocs are Transformers and 70% of those are Drones. I should probably talk about some of the more Cybertronian ones cause they deserve just as much love! It’s hard to remember names when you’re actually being asked but I’ll just roll with ‘1st generation’ TLAD Cybertronian characters (yes there are so many that generations are needed) So Inter Phy is going to be the first character anyone is going to be introduced to in the TLAD series once I get her story up. She’s a Minicon-Seeker hybrid in Vos, and as would probably be expected, she is not welcomed. Abandoned as a child she is left to fend for her own, and as if things weren’t bad enough, she made a small mistake that got her in trouble so her face, her wings, and her alt-mode were removed. What she did? You’ll just have to read Memory when it comes out XD Next up is Ominous, an incredibly large and awkward Decepticon boi. His upbringing was a bit better even if he rejected his family and ended up in the gladiatorial pits! And then into the Decepticon ranks where we was reunited with his twin only to have their relationship shaken again by betrayal and then split even further across dimensions. But he’s a good, pure child, who tries his best and makes a few horrible jokes along the way. Those are just my favourite Decepticon’s though. My favourite Autobot OCs would have to be Error and Wreckcircuit. Error is a white and black jeep who has pink optics. He tried to join the Decepticons at first but was literally such a screw up they didn’t want him. Now he gets to make mistakes on the Autobot side but he tries his best and actually ended up getting a bf from a mistake. Wreckcircuit is a lil black Minibot with green and blue highlights. He turns into a smart car and has who different coloured optics which he is embarrassed about and wears glasses to cover it. He’s actually quite sneaky and usually frequents on the Nemesis as a spy giving Soundwave a run for his money. Honestly though there are just too many characters for this meme X’D

a kiss when it’s not wanted.
Ethan stumbles over to Noah before he has considered what he is going to say. There is a waviness to his movements, like his legs are going in and out of cooperation with his brain. That's probably that last shot--he knew it was a bad idea but he threw it back anyway. "You're here," is what comes out of his mouth. "I'm so glad you're here."
"Yeah," she says, and even though he is somewhere in between tipsy and drunk, he can sense the chill in her words. "I'm here."
She looks him over, and Ethan truly has no idea what she sees. He and Barry had--before they'd come to the party--well. Anyway. He hasn't brushed his hair since then. His clothes are probably a mess from him lying on the couch in them. And he is somewhere in between tipsy and drunk, so that probably shows.
"We were doing shots." It seems important that she know. She doesn't seem to think so. "They were whisky. And tequila. And the brown one." Noah nods. There is something in her expression that normally he finds hard to read. Like this, it is impossible. "Are you mad we started without you?"
"No." She moves farther down the hall, so he follows her, until they are quite a ways away from the rest of the party. Here, it is quiet and dark. "What're you doing?" she asks, facing away from him.
"I wanted to be with you. See how you were."
Noah turns to him, eyes wide and dark and if they were unreadable before, they need to invent a new word for how impossible it is to tell what she's thinking when she is wearing that expression in the dark. So Ethan cannot tell what she is thinking. He leans toward her, as though the distance is the issue. It doesn't help, but it gives him the idea to kiss her instead, so he does.
Or tries to. It doesn't last very long--maybe a second before Noah gently but firmly pushes him away. "What're you doing?"
"I thought--"
"Go back to Barry," she says. She spits out his name like it tastes bad. Barry. "Go away."
"I--but--" Ethan stares at her for a moment, but even he can tell he is unwelcome. "Sorry." He recoils from her, curled in on himself, and retreats back to the room where the shots were.

[ TILT ] : sender tilts receiver’s head to the side to kiss their neck.
It felt as though he couldn't get close enough to Noah. Despite being stretched out against her, knees bumping one another, chest pressed so close he knew she could feel his erratic heartbeat, some lizard-brained part of him just kept screaming more, closer! His hands hooked into the beltloops of her pants and tugged her against him, friction there deliciously unsatisfying. And they only broke their kiss to breathe.
Once it was broken, though, Noah was moving. She pushed gently, rolling with him so that she was on top of him. Her legs straddled his waist, the pressure there causing his arousal to become even more obvious to her, but at least at this angle he could reach both of his hands up to touch her, stroking her legs, her back, just trying to feel all of her.
Given that Ethan was clearly operating on feel alone, it was good that Noah seemed to know exactly what she wanted. From atop him, she kissed his lips, brief, before trailing little pecks along his cheek to his jaw. And when she couldn't reach conveniently anymore, she took her hands to his face. The gesture was strangely tender in comparison to the frantic-ness Ethan was feeling. It surprised him out of the moment.
With those hands cupping his cheeks, she pushed gently, turning his head to one side, before she slid down and kissed from his cheek to his jaw, and then down his neck. At the spot where he could tell his pulse was strongest, she sunk her teeth into him, causing Ethan to let out a low sound. Noah followed the bite with a gentle lapping from her tongue, soothing the skin there. Ethan wasn't sure he could take anymore, though. He slid his hands up from her hips, under her shirt to reach for her chest, while he angled to try to flip their positions over.

There were degrees of cheating, as far as Ethan understood it. They were all bad, but somehow having sex with someone else was a worse sort of bad than just kissing. Where he'd fallen on the spectrum, lately, he couldn't say. It was probably personal, and he couldn't well ask Barry without opening further complications. How bad is my cheating right now? Does it matter that you're cheating? Does it matter that you cheated first? Does it matter that I started because I wanted to understand? That I don't think that's what I'm doing anymore?
His fingers twirled a lock of Noah's hair between themselves, the movement absentminded and habitual. His hands were always busy, especially when his mind was also busy. Hearing Noah's be open like that--it didn't make Ethan feel guilty the way it ought to. He didn't think, I feel bad about who I am when I'm with you. That would be the right thing to feel, but he didn't.
Instead, what Ethan felt was a mix of pride--that he was someone Noah felt safe to be vulnerable with--and frustration--that he couldn't offer her the uncomplicated relationship she deserved. It was selfish, maybe, or just stupid, but he still... He wasn't ready to consider what that would mean for him. Couldn't trust himself to know that he wanted that.
Instead, he could only offer this: quiet moments together, lying in bed fully clothed, enjoying the intimacy of being in someone's company in the liminal hours of the night. He pressed a chaste kiss to her forehead, tucking her further into his chest. "I accept you," he whispered against her forehead, knowing full well it would be cruel to ask the same in return.

[ REMARK ] : after someone passes a remark on what a cute couple the seemingly platonic sender and receiver are, the sender casts a meaningful glance at the receiver, expecting them to say something about it first.
Kelly wasn't someone that either of them knew well, but they did know her. Specifically, Ethan knew that she was very smart at when she was in class, and the most clueless person you can imagine outside of class. So when she made a comment like, "Oh, I didn't know you two were together. Y'all are cute," it was absolutely not a surprise. It was the right amount of oblivious for Kelly.
Noah's eyes shot to Ethan's right away, and he nearly flinched with the force of it. What was he supposed to do about it? It wasn't like he could make Kelly not think they were a couple. It wasn't like he could stop Kelly from saying something to anyone else--saying "don't say anything" would make it seem like the suspicious gossip fodder it was. And it wasn't like Kelly was even really wrong, this time. They were together. Sort of. In a sense.
After a moment of panic, he shrugged at Noah and turned back to the other girl, clearly waiting for a reason why her comment turned into an awkward silence. "Y'know," he said slowly, stalling. "Thanks, yeah." He took a deep breath and let it out loudly. "We, uh, don't get out much between my schedule and hers." Ethan could see Noah frowning out of the corner of his eye, but he decided to press on. "Speaking of schedules, I heard you're taking a class on 16th century poetry. What's that like?"
Kelly blinked, confused for a moment by what was pretty clearly a non-sequitur, but it didn't deter her for long. She nodded, and launched into an extremely long speech about why it was the best century for literature, which Ethan didn't understand but somehow believed anyway. She really was quite smart. And hopefully, if she did say anything to anyone else, they'd just think she misunderstood anyway.
