can't believe it took me this long to watch Bad Buddy because I am fucking obsessed? first of all I am a sucker for any reimagined version of a romeo-juliet story, and this one especially was such a delight <3 watching these two try to ignore each other because their parents hate each other was amusing enough, but watching them constantly scheming to avoid each other and pretend to be enemies because their faculties don't get along (when they're literally the definition of soulmates) was just peak television.
one thing that i especially love is how this is one of the few thai BLs- hell, this is one of the few pieces of media- where it feels like the main couple would actually last in the long run. usually it's just two leads who are attracted to each other and something dramatic happens and they fall in love in a way that feels grand but is just kind of... dramatic and superficial ig. but here- they enjoy spending time together even outside of all the flirting and cuddling, they're good at conflict resolution and communication, they are super supportive of each other, and they help each other broaden their perspectives. these two are such a domestic, functional couple, and despite all the bickering and fighting and pouting they just- really make it work.
another thing that really struck me is their physical closeness. a lot of thai BLs (especially lately) show a lot of steamy, physically intimate scenes but this one really had nothing (from the bts videos it looks like their kisses were supposed to be chaste-r but the actors just decided to give us a l'il treat xD). instead we get to see these two wrestle each other, or tend to each others wounds or feed each other, and that's. a really smart and refreshing way to show their physical closeness. i like that they didn't need to show us anything at all to prove how close these two are. i like that they decided to highlight the romantic aspect of the relationship without relying on the sexual one.
also. can i just say. romance and plot points aside. the show is just so entertaining. the pilot starts off with a bang and everything that follows is a treat. the conflicts are fucking hilarious. I was giggling every few minutes and all the bickering is top notch nonsense and every character is such a dumbass in their own right that their dynamics had me ugly laughing the whole time. but all that being said- their first kiss killed me? it was so gut wrenching and angsty and emotional I was sobbing my eyes out the whole time?? there were also several other moments where I was really worried for the characters. the conflict between the two faculties and the two families is flimsy enough to work perfectly for the humour but the stakes feel real at the same time so every serious beat in the story had me biting my nails fr. this whole show was a ride and idk how they did it but god. the plot is giving KFC a run for its money- it was finger licking good.
so yeah. tldr- i've had these mfers for two days now but if anything happens to them I'll kill everyone and then myself.

last twilight ep 7 thoughts, feelings, etc
ALRIGHT i ran my errands, caught up on pit babe and playboyy to relax, and now i'm doing my speedwatch. i took some notes while watching the first time and they're a fucking MESS but hopefully they help me remember everything i want to comment on because without fail i always forget something.
you'll all be glad to know this week's meta bullshit from me is far, far less romantic and wistful than last weeks. you've all been spared by my adhd brain not being able to piece together a single poetic thought.
Tumblr media
i kind of knew from this moment the trajectory the episode would take. Day is clearly nervous but not defensive - this isn't out of the realm of something Mhok would do for him but with recent context it probably feels fairly intimate. i think this was a really good indicator of what we're in for.
Tumblr media
there's a collection of sunflowers in Day's room, tucked away in the corner, not unlike Mhok tucking away his feelings for Day's comfort. the poor things are shrouded in shadow, away from the light. the pain is unending and forever.
Tumblr media
Day's flashback to the kiss has me curious. his eyes are closed so he's not even thinking back to seeing what he can of Mhok up close. as he reminisces about this kiss is he simply remembering the sensation of Mhok's lips on his own? how his hands curled into Mhok's jacket? and i'm sure we've all seen the post but - was he thinking of the way Mhok tasted like cigarettes? this isn't to romanticize his disability, i'm just genuinely wondering what exactly he's drawing on here in this moment, because it's clearly something significant to him.
Tumblr media
Porjai just keeps getting prettier every episode and it's making me insane. i just think i should be allowed to take care of her.
"I'm jealous of Day's ability to make you smile."
this makes me think Mhok's smiles have been few and far between, and maybe Porjai has been looking to bring out that smile for a long time. does she ever worry that maybe someday Mhok could end up like Rung? does she worry about finding him too?
Tumblr media
oh i so very badly want the context for this, i want to know everything. but also, it's really not that surprising. not when we've seen the things Mhok has done for Day. Mhok lives his life in extremes; anger, kindness, protectiveness, his work, etc. everything Mhok does he puts his whole self into it and it's nice to see his love is no different, because why would it be?
i'm once again in awe of what P'Aof has done with Mhok and Porjai, though. they live together so easily and naturally. there's nothing strange or awkward about it, just two people surviving life together. it's such a breath of fresh air.
Tumblr media
Day just cannot catch a break when it comes to August. this has to hurt so fucking badly, the pity has to feel amplified by 1000. not only was August trying to force himself to like Day back because he's blind, but also because he was thinking of leaving. Day is a stronger man than me because i would be frothing at the mouth pissed.
but once again, Mhok doesn't let Day stew in his fish tank. he encourages him to go out and resolve his feelings, even if that means screaming at August and letting out all his hurt and frustration. he's seen what happens when Day lets his hurt fester and he won't let it happen again, not while he's around.
"He's a lot stronger than I thought. It's me who's so weak that I let him down."
as much as August pisses me off, i do think this is him realizing his pity was misplaced, and he failed Day in that way, so he gets some redemption points here. (still think he's a stinky bastard man tho)
Tumblr media
the immediate distance Mhok puts between himself and the group never fails to hurt my heart. i get it, he's there for a job, but their relationship has progressed past that - now even moreso, and i cant help but wonder if this is his attempt at keeping a distance, curbing his expectations, reminding himself that while his role is to be by Day's side it's only in a professional capacity.
i love that Gee acknowledges him with a little head nod, occasionally looks in Mhok's direction as if to include him, she's just - ugh - i love all the women in this show so fucking much. i just wish someone would invite Mhok over sometime, encourage him to join the conversation (like they did back at the party.)
sometimes Mhok really is the embodiment of a shadow - both of Day and of his former self (for good or bad.)
(he looks so fucking sexy leaning like that with his shirt tucked into his pants tho, whew.)
Gee also becomes one of my favorite people for asking Day to take the photo of all of them. she just gets it, she includes him, she doesn't act like he can't do things, she even insists he can, she's just !!! the women of all time in this show i swear!!! I LOVE WOMEN!!!!
also the "you don't drink coffee, girl spill the tea" from Gee is just so good. she knows a diversion tactic when she sees one.
Tumblr media
i want this expression framed, she's so cute, HELP.
Tumblr media
i wish i had the time and energy today to make gifs for this week but ugh. the journey Mhok's face went on here to end up at quiet resignation. because he did figure. someone like Day? with someone like him? because we know Mhok's opinion of himself isn't great, largely influenced by his incarceration and reintegration into society, i'm sure, along with his guilt. but there had been that little bud of hope, a little sunflower seed that had bloomed just a little too far, reached for the sun a little too much. it must feel like a weed in his chest.
Tumblr media
the way Day says 'here' so softly, with so much vulnerability made me feel like screaming. he doesn't know what his feelings are for Mhok yet (you can't tell me he doesn't feel anything) but he knows he doesn't want to lose Mhok and the sudden idea of it is terrifying. Mhok is the only person that really understands him, one of the only people he's comfortable around anymore, and he can't lose that. he doesn't want to go back to the dirty fish tank.
i also think this was an indicator to Mhok that maybe Day doesn't know how he feels, and maybe he can get away with flirting in tiny, subtle ways because from here on his secret flirting game is in full effect and it's so fucking cute. he's careful not to completely push past Day boundaries, but to test them in gentle ways.
Tumblr media
THE SHOES MY BELOVEDS. we all know what i feel about these shoes after last week and i'm so glad to see all of my stupid babbling confirmed here. i love that Mhok constantly mends things instead of throwing them away. the sentimentality of items means something to Mhok and we love him for that.
we also got a proper 'sweet dreams' this episode, finally!! thank you subbers!
so many shots of feet this ep tho and lemme tell you as someone that HATES feet, this was rough.
Tumblr media
oh you are so smitten. Day realizing Mhok is warm, warm in his own way, warm in such a gentle and understated way. UGH. you would've thought he knew after everything they've been through but sometimes people need a reminder and maybe something to drive them to pay closer attention. our boy is BESOTTED. kicking his feet and giggling. i think this is the happiest we've ever seen him.
Tumblr media
so here's where i'm probably going to wax poetic the most. Mhok is finally opening up to Day in such an incredible way. he brings Day to his home with no fear of pity or judgement. he brings him into this sanctuary created by him, his sister, and Porjai and he cooks for him and cares for him and in letting him in Day sees even more how impossibly warm Mhok is.
what's even greater is there isn't a single moment where Day is jealous or questions Porjai being there. Mhok has told him she's expecting and he's never weird about it, just kind and understanding and it's all so normalized, it's fucking beautiful. Day even takes the time to encourage Porjai, to share about his mom, and about the strength it takes to be a single mom. P'Aof i adore you.
Mhok has planted jasmine simply because he knows Day likes it, and maybe now he likes it too. and he brings Last Twilight home to practice reading (i'd always wondered how he managed to read without stumbling over himself lmao) and he's done it so much that now Porjai wants to name their child Mee, wants to create this connection to Day forever.
and once prompted, once Day knows enough to ask, Mhok opens up about Rung, talks about her more. Day comments on the warmth of the house, something started by Rung and cultivated by Mhok. it would be so easy for the house to feel cold and clinical, especially knowing what happened here, but Mhok has kept it a home - warm, inviting, comforting - all the things Mhok has been to Day.
the noises took me by fuckin' surprise tho, i genuinely looked around my house like who the fuck is making all that noise and then i was like OH THOSE ARE-- OKAY--
Tumblr media
and I know people are like haha P'Aof has a scent kink but like. idk. maybe it's just me but scents are something i'm drawn to. i remember the way someone smelled more than i remember their face. i recently took a shirt out of my closet and immediately started crying. it smelled like face powder and perfume. it smelled like my grandma. the leather jacket pushed to the side smells like cigarettes and horses, like my dad always did.
scent is such an ingrained memory, something that is so hard for our brains to let go of. every time i get a familiar smell it knocks me on my ass, and i'm so glad to see some of this represented in these shows.
Tumblr media
this absolutely warmed my heart. whatever is going on with Night and Day is clearly more on Day's side than anything else. Night clearly loves his brother and i'm just fucking DYING to know what is going on that is causing Day to drive a wedge between them. sure, Night hasn't been perfect, but there's love there and that counts for so much.
Tumblr media
and what exactly are you doing here??? this is a charity run for blindness - does he know someone that is blind other than Day? did meeting Day inspire him to participate? has he spent time talking to Mhok about Day and maybe the difficulties of his blindness? i am filled with questions but i love this character so much, he's just so kind.
Day's hesitation to cross the finish line was also something i found so interesting. it felt long, possibly too drawn out, but Day needed to think, needed time to understand that if he crosses that finish line, if he accepts Mhok's request to be his boyfriend, their lives will never go back to how they were. things between them will change forever, whether the relationship is a success or otherwise. it's an incredibly mature thing of Day to do, even if it felt a little lengthy for us, the audience.
Tumblr media
i strongly believe that in addition to Mhok Porjai is going to be a big driving force in Night and Day's reconciliation. i would love to see Porjai gain Night's side of the story, Mhok gain Day's side of the story, and the two of them working together to see how they can reunite these brothers.
also if i had a nickle for every time P'Aof paired Mark with a pregnant woman in his shows i'd have two nickles, which isn't a lot but it's interesting it has happened twice.
Tumblr media
while i, like everyone else, hope the mock proposal is a parallel we get to see later i want to focus more on this moment.
i forget who said it, it's long gone to the depths of my dash by now, but someone commented that disabilities do not stop for love, and fuck is that so true. i love Mhok's concern, his immediate reaction to soothe, and the way he seems to feel Day's fear as his own. and poor Day, he can't even enjoy this moment of bliss with Mhok because of course, of course something like this had to happen. it's so fucking real in the way Last Twilight has been this entire time.
the constant excellent representation of disabled living has been incredible to see, i've seen so much of myself in this show (even though my disability is so very different) and it's been like a warm blanket put over very single comment: you're too young to be disabled, you aren't THAT disabled, you're being dramatic, etc.
from the bottom of my heart, thank you P'Aof and team.
tag loves: @benkaaoi @callipigio @infinitelyprecious (as always tell me if you want to be added {for LT only or all meta} or removed!)

The subversion of faen fatale in Last Twilight; and why I love it
Can I just talk for a moment how much I appreciate P'Aof dismantling faen fatale tropes, as well as the notion of 'guys and girls can't be close friends' that is so prevalent in Asian society? Because not only did he do a fabulous job with Ink in Bad Buddy, but he's going above and beyond with it in Last Twilight. We have Gee, who could have so easily been someone who was interested in Day, and come in between their relationship (I was praying for her to not turn out to be a faen fatale when she was introduced). But instead, she's a great friend to Day, and she helps him regain another piece of his life by pushing him to join her at the bar. And then we have Porjai. She's Mhok's ex girlfriend, and the narrative has presented chance after chance for her to regain feelings for Mhok, and present problem for Mhok and Day in so many different ways, but none of them were ever taken.
And part of this feels very intentional to me. Showing us two female characters that could have very easily become barriers to the relationship, they didn't. We see it in the preliminary interactions between Day and Gee, where there's some time where Gee's character could have easily gone one of two ways. And you will not believe how immensely relieved I was when the show made it abundantly clear that Gee is a friend to Day, and nothing more. Similarly, Porjai is introduced to us as Mhok's girlfriend, and later as his ex. It would have been so easy for her to 'catch feelings again', like when Mhok comes to her aid with her ex (forgot his name, won't bother reminding myself). I feel like the show is trying to put the point forward that guys and girls can be friends, and that the girl doesn't always have to be a homewrecker.
And let me tell you this, I absolutely adore that P'Aof is doing this. The trope of female homewreckers, (or faen fatale as we like to call them) is extremely prevalent not only in bls, but in asian media in general. I've seen it everywhere, from bollywood movies to add drama, to serials that have been running for half my lifetime, to keep the viewers watching. I've watched it enough times to have a genuine hatred of it. There's a number of issues with the trope that I'm not going to get into right now, but I'm sure you're all familiar with. But the greatest point is, that it often takes away from a good story. It's a tired trope that serves only to add drama and disinterest the viewers from the story. Last Twilight (and Bad Buddy too) has had a very concrete storyline from the start. The purpose and aim of this story have been clear from the beginning, and in the most recent episode, the show has started to dig a little deeper into Day and Mhok's stories, relationship, and shown us how they're growing together. A faen fatale would absolutely ruin the slow, delicate journey these two are on of growing together, which is where I come to August.
Honestly, I was a little afraid when I realized that Day liked August. Because Day and Mhok have been slowly, but surely growing closer, and they're slowly letting down walls built up due to grief, and loss. But August only serves to help us further understand Day. I'm struggling slightly to put this into words, but in the single episode we had with August, I've learned so much more about Day, and how he works. And, his introduction also highlighted Mhok's caregiving instinct once more, his tendency to always put Day first. There are rare instances when introducing a past crush does so much for a story (another being Bad Buddy, P'Aof the wonder that you are), and I'm absolutely eating this up.
The last scene absolutely crushed me in a way that only Ep 5 [4/4] bls by P'Aof can. Once again, the resubversion of the Faen Fatale trope. When I first saw August, my first reaction was expecting faen fatale, 'and now he's going to take away Day's attention and Mhok's going to leave the flower and we'll all be sad". Well, the last part happened but it was so much more heartbreaking the way it was done. Once again, proving how much better a story can be without the trope that with. I won't lie, I'm still scared about how the knowledge that Day likes August will impact Mhok's actions toward Day. But, it's more of a fear for the characters, and less of a fear for the narrative, as in I'm not afraid that it will take away from the story.
Bad Buddy holds a legacy for subverting an innumerable number of tropes, and I'm glad to see that Last Twilight is holding it's own in the department too. The purposeful subversion of faen fatale made my heart incredibly happy (have you noticed how much I hate this trope? You probably have. I'm sick of it. Most Indian kids are)
Side note- I've seen a number of posts ghostshipping Gee and Porjai, and while it may not be very plausible, we did get InkPa, so it's never impossible

Last Twilight ภาพนายไม่เคยลืม Ep 4
This show continues to impress me a LOT, and I've got thoughts on P'Aof-ian structure and themes, but right now I'm just all up in my feelings.
Anyway! got carried away an distracted midway through, but here's the liveblog, you know the deal. (for anyone who doesn't: I try to watch largely without subs, so I'll inevitably end up romanising names in different ways from the subs. sometimes I remember to go back and 'fix' that, sometimes I don't.)
they seem to be emphasising sounds in this scene, I like that
oh we're ASKING now
the emphasis on other senses! SENSES!!! I love this
FLIRTING
I love this
HIS FRIEND
OH car and songs
is that a P'Bird song? that sounds like a P'Bird song (one google search later, turns out IT IS I'm ridiculously proud of myself for guessing right 😂)
CALLED IT (sorta) haha of course Mawk likes Paper Planes' Bad Boy!!!
look at the ROAD gdi Mawk
Phawjai doesn't hold back and I LOVE her for it
FRIEND
I love how Phawjai tries to do a lot right,
Day you're so GONE
annnnnd Phawjai cottoned on
Gee~~~
I love that Mawk just tries to give him an out
I think this might be the first time he told someone directly
he's venturing out so much!!
and everyone's teasing Day about Mawk, I wonder when the reverse starts
a fan!!!
Mawk just observes, I love that
NOOOO it's the bus stop music
did they borrow Mark's trophy for this? 😂
there's SOMETHING with August, we'll find out I'm sure
is he your ex, Day? is that it?
this is so sweet
oh, that looks delicious
asdfasdfasdfsd wtf
Mawk looks so standard!Jimmy gorgeous here 😂
product placement time??
oh this is HAND PORN, wow
and the music does not help, aaaah
that gulp!
Day is so GONE asdfasdf
what an asshole
oh this is gonna go badly
and this now that they just mentioned his record, oh, this is gonna be a problem
is this Mawk and Rung's parent's house?
GOOD FOR YOU Phawjai
oh no, she's pregnant?!
shittttt
I love how this is also a theme in P'Aof's works. Real people problems, man.
why is this bar familiar?
oh, this will get overwhelming, with the noise and all that
oh this is gonna go badly
!!! I love how they made this a way of like, asking weird questions without making it weird? if that makes sense
this sucks, he was so confident and now …
don't just grab him, Mawkkkk
this could be awkward or great
this flirting in front of EVERYONE'S salad, I cannot
oh I worry for Mawk here
helLO autotune 😂 but that's P'Bird's song again!!
they're both so sweaty
that's such a cute picture!! he's smiling so widely. Mawk's gonna catch him looking for sure.
it's EP 4 out of 12 and one of them is sleeping on the floor I SEE YOU, P'AOF
is he gonna fall over him on his way to the bathroom? because that seems like something he'd do
oh???????????????
no WAY Mawk is sleeping through that, he's gotta be pretending
peak drunk behaviour, Day
of COURSE he's awake
August is back next ep, and apparently he has NO idea why Day just up and left. this is gonna get awkward.
this show just continues to be so good, and I'm grateful.

Jimmy truly catched Sea's clinginess and they were soooo cuddly in before last twilight 😭😭😭 we are about to have so much love and intimacy and some of the scenes they showed were so sexy even if there wasn't a glimpse of naked skin oh we are about to be so well fed
NOT TO BE THAT PERSON BUT
Tumblr media
IF THEY FUCKED RAW IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS RIGHT THEN AND THERE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS OBSCENE AND EXPLICIT AND INTIMATE AND DERANGED THAN WHATEVER THE HELL THIS IS LIKE THE SLOW SLIDE OF MORK'S HAND OVER DAY'S OPEN PALM?????? THIS SHIT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL I FEEL LIKE A VICTORIAN MAN SEEING A WOMAN’S ANKLE FOR THE FIRST TIME
i don't even know what the context is or what is going on exactly but this is already the single most life changing transcendental insane thing to ever happen on television and me personally as a person. and here's the thing.. what a lot of people who make romances happen on-screen often don't understand is that intimacy and seduction are constructed like a suspense scene: it's all about the space and the timing and the balance between emotions vs physicality. they're all the same mechanisms to build expectations within the viewers. and say what you want about p'aof but as a director he DOES understand this. and maybe im biased but imho jimmysea ALSO understand this. p'aof knows exactly how to work the camera and jimmysea, while thriving when they have to deliver emotions, knows how to work their bodies
LIKE LOOK AT THE CLOSE UP OF THEIR HANDS AND THEIR EXPRESSIONS AND THE DIFFERENT LEVELS BETWEEN THEM WITH MORK TOWERING OVER DAY BECAUSE HE'S THE ONE ACTIVELY TRYING TO 'SEDUCE' DAY TO GO OUTSIDE (AND UNCONSCIOUSLY SEDUCING HIM FR)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM GETTING MORE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE SEDUCTION HAS CLEARLY BECOME MUTUAL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM EVEN SAYING ANYMORE BUT THE POINT IS I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS INTIMACY SLOWLY DEVELOP BETWEEN MORKDAY AND GROW WITH THEM AS THEIR RELATIONSHIP CHANGES

Turtles Catches Up With Jojo Tichakorn: The Warp Effect (2022-23) Edition
My life is so insane right now with the usual adulting responsibilities that afflict me and so many others (AFFLICT, I SAY!) that I've been spending most of the little time I have to write meta focused on the Old GMMTV Challenge -- I'm even neglecting my DARLING Japanese doramas in Minato's Laundromat 2 as I catch up on everything else, gah. (Dangerous Romance and Only Friends on consecutive days. SMDH. GMMTV said, hey beesh, your time belongs to MOI NOW, and I'm all like, HOW DID I LET YOU DO THIS TO ME.)
BUT ALL THAT BEING SAID, fuck, if you wanna make something happen, you make it happen, right? I heard the demands, the slamming of hands-hands-hands on the table from my dear friend @wen-kexing-apologist (HANDS!) to take on The Warp Effect as a means of preparing for the Only Friends onslaught, and to get to know another clutch project by the inimitable Jojo Tichakorn.
The Warp Effect was airing just as I really began to launch myself into watching more GMMTV dramas late last year. At the time of its airing in December 2022, I had literally only watched The Eclipse and A Tale of Thousand Stars like a GMMTV BL dilettante, not knowing 1) anything about 2) anyone and 3) why anyone, from the actors to the filmmakers, would be important to know about for any particular show. If I had picked up on The Warp Effect literally as it was airing, I, as an Asian-American, literally would have been like, THEY'RE MAKING THIS STUFF IN THAILAND, HOW DID ANYONE NOT TELL ME?!?!?!?! And that would have been it.
So, yeah, thank goodness I've watched it *now*, ha, in the midst of the OGMMTVC, where I've gained knowledge not only of the history of GMMTV's BL slate (of which The Warp Effect DOESN'T belong, just to clarify), but of the many significant actors who were in TWE, and also of the history of the GMMTV network airing increasingly progressive content in the first place. While BLs of all kinds, by various filmmakers, have aired on GMMTV since 2016's SOTUS -- as many of us know, Jojo exists outside of the BL bubble, making progressive art that's focused on sex and sexuality, sexual health, and the inclusion of queerness and various sexual expression and identification spectrums in everyday life.
I committed to knowing more about Jojo's oeuvre when Only Friends was first announced, because I'm always of the assumption that 1) artists talk to other artists through their artistic oeuvres, and that 2) artists also talk to their own growing body of art, through new art, progressively over the course of time. I figured that by being as familiar as I could be with as big of a scope as possible of Jojo's body of work, that I could pick up more deeply on where his mind might be going within Only Friends.
So anyway -- that's why I took on The Warp Effect. After watching Gay OK Bangkok -- Jojo's BRILLIANT 2016 collaborative web series with Backaof Noppharnach about male queerness and men's sexual health -- I knew The Warp Effect had to be next on my Jojo list. I also utterly devoured Jojo's 3 Will Be Free for the OGMMTVC, but in The Warp Effect, I wanted to see Jojo's continued conversation about sex, and his openness about sex in his art specifically, as a means of understanding better the framing from which he's coming to Only Friends.
Both P'Aof and Jojo have an utter expertise in teasing out brilliant performances from actors who you wouldn't necessarily think could pull off what these two demand in their work. I think on a regular basis about Tay Tawan's spin as Shin in 3WBF, and I shake my damn head at that performance every time -- how Tay, coming off of the jock role of a lifetime as Pete in Dark Blue Kiss, could play with such aplomb an unassuming gay virgin, out of the closet and inexperienced, who had a STEEL core of survival within him. It was such a great role.
I felt the same about seeing New Thitipoom as Alex in TWE. (And, honestly, I thought it was SUCH a G move for Jojo to continue exploring how to get some GMMTV guys out of their jock reputations by casting New from his own Dark Blue Kiss past, just like Tay. BRILLIANT.)
I LOVED New in this role. He clearly was acting outside of his usual boundaries, and I think he ate this role with eagerness. New as Alex emphasized a major core of The Warp Effect for me -- as opposed to 3 Will Be Free, The Warp Effect was rooted in a particular genre that's not always explored across the GMMTV portfolio: COMEDY.
The Warp Effect was fucking hilarious! New as Alex was out of control so much -- bumbling, mistake-prone, disoriented, but quickly gaining in centered control as he organized himself to begin tackling his way out of the curse that he had been put under.
What I love about what Jojo did with TWE was that with every curve this show took, every direction the story went, he clearly was driving the course of this show with one foot on the gas -- but with razor-sharp steering. A show rooted in comedy and depictions and dialogue about sex could have gone off the rails at so many moments. He began a number of episodes with montages of various intimacies that brought such a sexy and mature vibe to the show, that he rooted himself firmly in the ability to then dialogue about that intimacy with fluency. He knew how to set up conversations about sexual health with not an ounce of teachy condescension. He leveraged comedy when necessary to lighten what could have gotten dragged down by just about anything -- fear, judgement, condemnation. We know from Jojo's past oeuvre (GOKB, 3WBF) that he'd never go there. But that he took SUCH control of a complicated narrative that involved a sizable number of characters -- the fact that he wove commentary about sex and sexual health into that complicated narrative, and did it with sensible comedy and drama, was brilliant.
3WBF didn't talk about sexual health, but Gay OK Bangkok did, in spades, directed towards the Thai queer male community. I predict Only Friends is going to have some amount of commentary about alcohol abuse in queer partying culture vis à vis Ray. Selfishly, as a mom -- something that I will forever take away from The Warp Effect was the focus on women's reproductive health. I haven't seen such a close look -- and an ACCURATE READ -- on women's reproductive health in a show before this one.
So, first of all, I DO hope that it was meant to be indicated that Alex's memory about being an OB-GYN came back because, shit, you don't learn about giving Pap smears in a 30-second montage, HA. But that being said:
Stirrups? Speculums? Questions about looseness and fluids? Vaccines? Fertility? IVF? HORMONES? PREGNANT MOMMY HORMONES???
Damn. I mean. GIMME. I felt seen as a mom. Yet again, this is why I watch shows from Asia, and particularly Thailand by way of this country's openness with sexual honesty in media. How Jojo was able to turn the topic of women's reproductive health into compelling television. Western media would likely pooh-pooh this topic and/or turn it into cringe-worthy comic-ish commentary that would ultimately condescend to a woman's experience. I've been pregnant a few times, and let me tell you -- Jojo got Nim's experience CORRECT. (Except for her drinking what I hoped was a mocktail at the prom wedding. I know there are cultures that allow for minor drinking during pregnancy -- I'd have to find out where Thailand falls on that -- but my own personal experience was that my OB was so strict that I was afraid if she FOUND OUT I had a sip of something. Anyway, red drink in martini glass, let's hope it was Hawaiian Punch or the Thai equivalent.)
And of course, this being Jojo -- how The Warp Effect ALSO treated men's sexual health and queer male sexuality was also amazing, even heart-wrenching. I found myself getting emotional at Army's conversations with Joe about penetration and positioning, due in large part to Joe being so resistant at the start of even exploring these issues within himself. How Alex hilariously intervenes to provide Army the information he needs to come back to Joe to make intimacy better for the both of them -- again, the use of comedy here being so brilliantly leveraged to discuss a topic that could otherwise carry discomfort within it. The writing and filmmaking of Army's overall leading dialogue was incredible.
(ALSO?! FLUKE PUSIT?! MY FIRST TIME WITH FLUKE PUSIT?! Tell me why this dude doesn't have his own show again?! FLUKE AND THOR? THESE DUDES JUST WENT FOR IT! FUCK, MAN, LITERALLY! Holy shit, Fluke and Thor WERE RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING GEMS.)
(Let me also say: I hope Fah comes back to Thai television. She just NAILED her role as Jean, and I'd love to see her act again, and get to know her repertoire better.)
I think what made The Warp Effect so successful was, besides the tight but complicated storyline, is Jojo's TOTAL FEARLESSNESS at tackling topics that he is DEEPLY rooted in, at a very high comfort level. Even in 2016's GOKB, Jojo and P'Aof wrote VERY FRANK dialogue about men's sexual health. (And for good reason, as GOKB shared that in 2016, 25% of Bangkok's queer male population was HIV-positive -- a stunning stat.)
When a director is rooted in that FRANKNESS -- without fear or hesitation, and even pressure from a network or sponsors -- they can really go places by way of making bold content with equilibrium. Many of us have noted that Only Friends is not sponsored -- no Oishii or Lays in sight. That means that Jojo (and his team) are going into OF unfettered. Give me more unfettered content about sex and sexual health. The world needs it, especially if it's centered around a redemption story of such a good order, that it makes every single actor within the show better because of it. The Warp Effect was a joy to watch -- even while it was rooted in fantasy, the truth it shared about intimacy and health are permanent lessons that are always needing to be learned.

P.S. Gawin Caskey's theme song was a BOP.
P.P.S. Shirtless, tied-up Joong: YES.
P.P.P.S SILVY! GAH, SILVY! HOW GOOD WAS SHE?!?!?! CAN SHE PLEASE GET SIGNED BY GMMTV?!?!?! OMG. I LOVE HER, YOUR HONOR!

Me while watching Last Twilight Ep. 12 (Final Ep.):
Okay, we'll finally see if we should take P'Aof's offer and storm GMMTV if the finale for this episode is unsatisfactory 😂
1. Hmmm, so Day was never able to get a successful surgery to restore his sight? I guess I could understand since endings that are *remotely* happy does not need to mean that he will be able to see again.
2. So after three years, Mhok is now a sous chef? Also, is this episode going the Bad Buddy route??? Cause if it is, I need to get ready 😂😂😂
3. Oof. They are trying to fool us with Porjai saying the "groom will be here" right after they show Mhok trying to call Porjai's phone <after 5 seconds> There it is! Seriously, I would like Night to be loved and happy for the rest of his life as he truly deserves it 🥹🥹🥹
4. At least, they weren't fooling us with the location. They have indeed met accidentally on the escalators of a hotel, not an airport. <after 5 seconds> P'Aof!!!!! I almost thought you'll never appear in this series 😂😂😂
5. Didn't Day got sus with the "usher"? I mean, Mhok still smells the same, right? RIGHT???? <after a few irritating scenes of Mhok in denial> I knew that perfume will make an appearance eventually. I mean, pretty sure at this point it is an official GMMTV merch 😂
6. Aaaaaaargh. Day wrote a book entitled "Begin with same person"??? With him and Mhok at the top of that mountain as a book cover??? It even has Day's voice for the audiobook??? 😱😱😱 No wonder Mhok's smile is from ear to ear.
7. I'm beginning to hate (affectionate) Mhok and Day 😅😅😅 What kind of flirting is this??? 😂😂😂
8. Night saying out loud that he is not paying for Mhok's "excellent care service" sends me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I kennat 🤣🤣🤣
9. If looks could kill, Porjai would be dead on the spot 🤣🤣🤣 Night and Porjai playing cupids is the dream tag team lol
10. Mhok is freaking relentless 😂😂 Also, Day, you can go with Mhok to the US. I mean, you're rich enough to hire an assistant for your book shop. 😂
11. Don't worry Mhok. I also did not get why Day broke up with you lol (not until I read the series' writer's thoughts about Ep 11). <after 5 seconds> Ngl, that's a good conversation between the two. 🥹🥹🥹
12. Glad that Mum have accepted Porjai without difficulties 🥹🥹🥹 Their scene did managed to activate my tearducts 😭😭😭
13. Oh? Dad is also here. Will Mum and Dad have a fresh start too? I mean, Mum looks a bit shook and concerned at the same time. Also, why is Night just calling people to give improptu speeches? 😅
14. Oh, boy. NightPorjai's wedding is just full of happy tears and I have feelings 😭😭😭
15. Ugh. I hate it when the self-reflection is so late, it ends up with them rushing to the airport (or a bus terminal) to catch their romantic partner before they go away for good. But then again, Night and Porjai running in their wedding attire to look for Mhok is effing epic (even Porjai lying to the airport's information counter get Mhok is just 🤌🤌🤌) 😂😂😂
16. Wait, if Night knew that Mhok returned to the hotel, why the fvck did they all run in their wedding gear all throughout the airport looking for Mhok??? Does Porjai know about this? 😂😂😂
17. At least, it looks like we are going to get a happy ending. I really thought we are going to get an open ending based on previous events and the end credit song lyrics. Although, I am still not sure if this a good thing for the series as a whole.
18. Day can finally see (although again, it would have been more acceptable if he had stayed blind since a happy ending should not hinged on his ability to see). Also, Night hitting Day for being more excited to see Mhok rather than their mum (or him, for that matter) is 🤣🤣🤣
19. Oh? Is that Gee and August? Are they a thing now or just badminton partners???
20. Looks like they repainted Rung's car. I guess, it also symbolises a fresh start for it.
21. Two chefs in the family? I'm envious (and also hungry. I haven't eaten breakfast yet 😅). Also, Porjai's preggy again!
22. And they are back to the mountain top again. I hope it's much easier hiking this time around 😅. Also, Day, why are you lying? What d'you mean Mhok (Jimmy) is not handsome??? Lol
And it's ended. And it's happy (though a tad fairy tale-ish) 😭😭😭 Now, it was rumoured that 23.5 degrees will take the Friday time slot. I wonder if it's true. Can't hardly wait for it 😭😭😭

@optimisticdreamtacoshark - I'm glad you enjoyed my Dark Blue Kiss color post. I highly encourage everyone to rewatch the series because not only does it hold up after three years, but maybe your eyes might catch some smaller details:
T-shirts:
Since T-shirts were Mork and Sun's love language...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sun is trying to get Mork to go home with him and explaining how Mork could be better, Mork's shirt reads "I AM BASIC"
Tumblr media
After Sun kisses Mork, and Mork runs away to avoid Sun, Mork wakes up in a "NO" shirt
Tumblr media
Mork gives Sun a different shirt to wear claiming they were the only ones left in the gift shop; however, they continue to stand in the best positions for the "MINE" signs to point to the other AND Mork's shirt is American Sign Language for "I love you"
Tumblr media
Rain's first scene has him wearing a "I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome" shirt
Tumblr media
And his last scene has him wearing "My Giant" shirt
Tumblr media
When Non was trying to confess to Kao, Kao's shirt states "La piscine" in blue and red, which is Pete's color, and means "The pool" in French which is Pete's favorite place
Tumblr media
And when Non is lying to Pete about being invited over for dinner, his shirt states "I know you think you know everything" in red, which is Pete's (and Non's) color
Tumblr media
Background & Signs:
When the show starts, the sign for the Blue Sky Cafe's, which blue boy Sun owns, is completely in blue
Tumblr media
But as the red rascal Mork warms his way into Sun's heart, the sign integrates Mork's red
Tumblr media
Whenever blue boys Kao and Sun are experiencing hardships, their backgrounds are highlighted in blue reinforcing who they are and giving them support
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the barista from the other coffee shop is flirting with Mork, the sign next to Mork states "No Entry Allowed" since his heart already belongs to Sun
Tumblr media
And when Sun asks Mork to stay, their hands touch next to the blue "I love you to the sea & back" notebook
Tumblr media
When Mork leaves Sun, and Sun is wandering around missing Mork, he unknowingly stops in front of the place Mork is now working and the sign behind him tells him to go "IN"
Tumblr media
And when they fight outside the bar, the wall reads "FAKE: Human beings survive by faith, love, and belief in dreams. Life is so short. Let's be happy"
Tumblr media
A constant sore point between Kao and Pete is Pete's desire to be open about their relationship, while Kao is afraid; therefore Pete is usually reinforced by rainbows and colors while Kao isn't
Tumblr media
And when Pete and Kao breakup, the multicolored books behind Pete read "Love Story" and "Second Wind" aka second chance in red and blue, Pete and Kao's colors
Tumblr media
Barriers:
Kao and Pete never have physical barriers to demonstrate emotional disconnect until this moment. Non is literally and figuratively the divide between Pete and Kao
Tumblr media
After that, several physical barriers come between Pete and Kao as they struggle to communicate
Tumblr media
In this scene, Pete once again argues for Kao to admit publicly that they are dating. The barrier between them is an open door which symbolizes honesty and living openly. This door in every other scene had been closed.
Tumblr media
The distance between them grows so much that wide shots are used to show the empty space that is normally filled with their love. The barrier also still exists with the sign that reads "We make life easier, safer, and greener" which shows irony.
Tumblr media
Mork and Sun also experience communication barriers, but their barrier features several items in pairs: the cups, the cakes, the images on the chalkboard, the tea packets, etc.
Tumblr media
For Funsies:
Mork and Sun serving us vers
Tumblr media
If you spot any others, let me know, and as usual, thank the director P'Aof and the cinematographer Rath for a great visual narrative.
I also did this for Semantic Error in case anyone is interested.

Top 5 Sentences or paragraphs you have written! 😊 or if that is too hard top 5 stories you’ve written! 🖋
Ok so I tried, I really tried, but I just couldn't do it haha, top sentences or even top paragraphs was too hard! So I just had to go with my top 5 stories instead...
music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them
This is the longest story I've ever written, I honestly never thought I could write long-form fics, I always got bored or discouraged or ran out of steam/ideas. I thought I wasn't cut out to be a writer really because I didn't have the drive.
This fic taught me that I had been wrong all along and all I need was a little encouragement and someone to talk through my blocks with. The potential was there, I just needed a little help. Plus I'm always gonna have a special place in my heart for my dancing babies.
The Supreme Art of War Is to Subdue the Enemy Without Fighting
It's definitely not my most popular but I really enjoyed writing this, I liked doing the research and finding out more about the history behind it, even if it's by no means comprehensive.
Someone pointed out on my Space AU with that fic and this, that I've created a "enemies find themselves in a quiet oasis and end up together against all odds" genre for my fics and actually I realised they're exactly right. I think what I love about enemies-to-lovers stories is that they all stem from that idea that if we could all just free ourselves from stereotypes and prejudices, there could be whole lot more love and understanding in the world.
I know no other way of loving but this
Ok, but I love this little angst fest, it was non-canonical within an hour of me posting it and ok, I know I had a feeling that P'Aof was clowning us with the ending of ep11, but I couldn't resist a 'what if', what if these boys really had broken up, what if they'd really separated themselves until the end of uni, what if this was the first time they saw each other again? I can't resist the feels, my friends, I just really can't.
A Soft Boy in Soft Sweaters
Ahhhh this fic. I'd only been writing again for a few weeks after years of writing nothing but marketing copy and crappy magazine articles when I started this fic. It was meant to be small, a couple of thousand words at most, and inspired by my realisation that practically every piece of clothing Pran owns is tactile, it's made to be touched. I think it was maybe a decision to show that he is the softer of the two, the more emotionally vulnerable one, but I couldn't help but equate it with Pat's extreme tactileness and well, a little headcanon was born and couldn't be stopped.
And as has become a theme with all my bad buddy fics, the damn thing just get growing haha, although now 5k is pretty tame compared to what I'm usually churning out, at the time it was a pretty big milestone for me.
He's No Romeo, or A Himbo's Brain Finally Catches Up With Itself
My first ever fic for this fandom. My first ever fic for years and I still love it, I love how ridiculously oblivious Pat is and I love that I actually wasn't that far off when his oh moment was gonna be. I wrote this as wishful thinking, never once believing we'd get a realisation this simple but then we got it and more. This show really broke every mould and I am exceedingly grateful for it.
Ahh oops, I rambled quite a lot on these... I hope you found it a little bit interesting at least! Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to your ask, I hope you don't mind <3

My thoughts on every new GMMTV trailer:
Enigma: cautiously hopeful. It looks very interesting and intense, and I think I will be able to handle the amount of horror in it though it is a genre I am nervous about because I scare easily. I'm just not a fan of student teacher romances, but I'll withhold judgement till after I see it (judging whether I like it. Not judging you if it's a trope you like, whatever floats your boat).
A Boss and a Babe: it looks silly and ridiculous and fun. I genuinely didn't think Forcebook would get another chance to star together and I'm so so happy they did, I love how they play off each other. Oddly I am fine watching boss employee relationships even though the student teacher ones make me uneasy.
Find Yourself: on the fence about this one, though I'll give it a try for Non and Earth. The tropes they are leaning into for comedy in the trailer aren't my favourite and I'm not a fan of them seeming to play drunken sex for laughs, but when the trailers tone shifted to be a more serious examination of age gaps I became intrigued. I'm just not sure I trust how this show will handle that subject in all its complexity.
Double Savage: very excited to have Ohm playing a darker character (I know we still have 10YT this year too). I think he will absolutely kill this role, I love his acting and think he is superb. I also think Film is fantastic and I'm excited to see her too. Looks like lots of lakorn crime type tropes, so that should be fun.
Hidden Agenda: I'm unsure about this one because while I like both Joong and Dunk well enough I wasn't enamoured with eithers' acting in Star and Sky, and they had the most disappointing kiss my god. This looks like the plot is more interesting at least than Star in my Mind, and I love a lot of the side cast. I'm hoping they just felt awkward acting together at first, and they will seem less stilted in this. I'm pretty 50/50 on whether I've liked the director's previous work so this could go either way.
23.5: I'm so so excited for this, it's happening guys!!!! MilkLove GL let's go sapphics let's go! I need this to do well and hopefully herald more long-form GLs. I adore both actresses and love them together as well. I'm expecting very 2015 BL vibes and fluff, and honestly not expecting more than a peck of a kiss (if I'm wrong feel free to point at this post and laugh at me I honestly would love to be wrong), but luckily I adore fluff and softness so I'm going to enjoy it anyways. The yearning! The sweetness! I'm over the moon
Phro Thoe Khue Rak Raek: I think I would be interested if this was just a movie but I'm not sure I have the attention span for a full drama about reminiscing and reconnecting with am old love. I'll probably skip this one unless something really catches my attention. Neo was really cute in this trailer though.
Cooking Crush: I am giddy about this one. I felt so sad Off thought him and Gun couldn't get roles together anymore because of their ages, and then here they are and the trailer looks really funny and cute! I'm also really excited they seem to have reversed their dynamic and Gun is playing the more asshole one, he definitely has the acting range and hopefully this means if OffGun continue going forward they will get to change their dynamic a bit more.
Wednesday Club: I'm not that interested. Honestly don't have much to say about the trailer, beyond Piploy and Jane look so so good! Please I'm already gay etc etc
Last Twilight: I'm definitely the most excited for this one! The plot looks interesting, JimmySea were excellent together in VV, and it's P'Aof who I trust implicitly. It is bringing me back to Want to See You (vdrama), which I overall enjoyed but I need this one to be less of a soap opera, I couldn't handle that twice. Also loved the music in the trailer. Also Jum ❤️ I also think Jimmy will be fun to watch playing the bad boy role, and he is super adorable which is a huge bonus. I'm not knowledgeable enough about adult onset blindness to really judge that aspect of the show.
Loneliness Society: While You Were Sleeping let's gooooo! My third most anticipated, I'm so excited for this! Morally grey and complex lead? With relatable issues around age and loneliness? Sign me up! This looks phenomenal. And I screamed when I saw Jan, I love her so much ❤️ though I am disappointed she got no main roles this year (side note Thailand is doing cherry magic what?????).
Only Friends: holy shit!!!! Second most anticipated and only trailer I've rewatched multiple times because there's so much going on! It's going to be messy as fuck and I'm going to eat up every minute! Can't believe we get Forcebook a second time next year, and KhaoFirst as well. The song they play at the end is fire 🔥 P'Jojo directing AND the cast is stacked!? Book Force Khao Neo Jennie First Mark and Piploy! I'm stoked
Faceless Love: eh. Dew's character really pisses me off, and while I have warmed up to rich asshole business owner types in the past (Poongduck, Business Proposal) my real life dislike of those types of people make it one of my least favourite archetypes and I'm not convinced I'm going to watch. I'm curious to see the reactions of people with face blindness to this as well.
Dangerous Romance: oh this look fantastic! I love this type of messy, high angst enemies to lovers. This is going to be so much fun, and I really liked what the director did with Love Mechanics so I have really high hopes. Plus Chimon is one of my favourite actors, and I would already die for Sailom - he's such a mouthy little sass master.
The Jungle: don't really understand what's happening because there are no subs, though it looks like a spiritual successor to PS I Hate You. Big cast, big drama. I'll watch it no matter what because it's one of my girl Mild's only roles next year and Lookjun's only role. Big downside is having to put up with watching Krusty.
Midnight Museum: not much plot was revealed in this trailer, however the creepy fantasy vibes are immaculate and I'm excited for this. I'm very curious about Gun's character's cryptic past, and hope it's suitably angsty so he can flex his acting, because he is phenomenal! Also Ploy ❤️
Our Skyy 2: oh my god! Special episodes for The Eclipse, Bad Buddy AND A Tale of Thousand Stars? Especially when we had all basically given up on an ATOTS special?!?!? Couldn't be more excited! I'm excited for everyone really (other than another Star in my Mind special lmao please let it fade into obscurity). If Never Let Me Go is as good as I anticipate (and I trust P'Jojo with my life) it will be great to see their characters again as well. My only disappointment is Forcebook is not reprising AkkTheo :( As one of the handful of people who really enjoyed Enchante I just want my Enchante special goddammit!
Beauty Newbie: I really don't think I trust how a plot about someone who's had plastic surgery and is now gorgoeus (let's be real Baifern is fucking ethereal) is going to handle issues like beauty standards. 😬 As someone who definitely falls outside the line of 'acceptable' look wise due to acne, weight, etc I'm not feeling this plot. The only reason I'm torn is my love of Baifern, so we will see if my love for her is enough to give this a try. And maybe I'm wrong and the plot will be amazing and profound, but I have serious reservations.
The Interest: eh. Whatever.
All in all I'm really looking forward to this lineup and think it will be a fantastic year. The ones I'm not liking based on the trailer I'm realllllllly not liking but I can just drop them of not watch.
Side notes: I was really worried Home School had been cancelled, it was one I was really looking forward to and I'm relieved it was only pushed back.
Also does anyone know what Miss Gigie is up to? She doesn't seem to be in anything upcoming other than Warp Effect and I miss her :(

they're scared of success cause tbh not me is so much better than bb, yeah bb it's cute and all that but not me goes deeper without losing the bl part, i honestly think it could have been so big internationally, like the scene with the flag is So Important, but i guess it's what you said, the issues we see in the show could have caused gmm problems... STILL i would have died for everyone to watch not me, it's a show that deserves to be watched all around the world and it's a blueprint for future bls
lmaooooooo pls why would you say that anon, I'm gonna catch HEAT again :'))) but yeah absolutely agree, I've said times & times again that bb is p'aof's worst show bc the second half of the show is literally so mediocre & the ending is the least satisfying ending I've ever seen coupled with maybe tonhon chonlatee. on top of gmmtv clearly wanting not me to not be too big which I talked about, there's also the issue of not me not fitting in with the average bl audience. like for me it's clear that the bl shows that get huge are all university bls with new pairings at the time of release: 2gether, sotus, why r u, bad buddy, love by chance, etc. I think the fact that not me has so much more going on that romance also deterred people from watching it bc if you like bl you like silly mlm romcoms & if you like action & political dramas usually you probably don't like it to contain love stories. so not me falling right in the middle of that makes it so it satisfies people who love both (me) but not necessarily the average bl viewer who just wants cute moments with barely any substance, let's be honest. the only other mature shows that got bigger than it were trapped, which focused way more on romance & had barely any action, and now the upcoming kinnporsche that has this super mature aspect but the show clearly looks like it'll be WAY more focused on the romantic & sexual aspect of the characters than not me (which, let’s be honest, is what most people are excited about.) so for me, any bl show that doesn't focus at the very least 70% on romance will get the same disappointing reaction from the general public, which sucks bc everyone who watches not me LOVES the show. so like, will I be forever bitter that not me, by far the most important thai show of all time, didn't get nearly the love it deserved?? absolutely. is there anything I can do about it when I've been promoting the show relentlessly on the platforms I have??? no. the bl audience & gmmtv failed this show, what do you want me to say...

I found that clip from soonvijarn where nanon says ep 12 is very P'Aof and it's in context of how conflict is resolved easily and in an uncomplicated way in ep 8. As in how PatPran are able to just apologize to each other and not drag their fights out
idk how hard I'm clowning but all the theories from the past 24 hours don't seem very complicated. It's just other characters who haven't stepped up yet stepping up. Y'all could be right???
And literally why else would nanon be clowning us on Twitter if he thought it's going to be a sad ending it just doesn't track
Hey!
Good catch with the soonvijarn thing. All of them always talk about how this series is essentially very P'Aof. They also pointed out that a lot of ep11 fluffy scenes are very him too. Add to the "EP12 is very P'Aof" I think it's safe to say that we will get a happy ending.
The question remains, HOW?
This conflict is bigger than anything they had to face so far and it's also a completely external force that's keeping them apart. As you pointed out, other characters have not stepped up yet - it would tie in with my and @shortpplfedup hybrid theory that in episode 12, certain characters need to step up to solve this issue for them, or at least help nudge them towards a reunion while the huge parent issue will be dealt with too. Whether it be the parents finally learning about the things Pat and Pran did for each other since they were children or just them seeing their children miserable and seeing the errors of their ways - although I am reluctant to accept that the parent will just get over themselves when they see Pat and Pran so sad.. I think they really need to learn about what has been going on since their childhood, how Pran saved Paa, how Pat has been helping Pran in uni and how Pran helped out Pat in return. How deep and profound their connection is and how none of them are like their parents, hence history won't repeat itself.
I hope with this we would get a real redemption for Wai, not that he deserves it - but Pat and Pran deserve it. They deserve to see that Wai learned from his mistakes (because Pran deserves a friend who recognises when he is wrong and when he messed up, especially because Pran obviously still wants him in his life), that he apologizes and then actively helps bringing them back together with the rest of their friends + Ink and Paa.
Also, their clownery is hilarious. They manage to gain even more traction for the episodes with it, they make people talk about the episodes when they do stuff like that.
Apparently they shot 3 different ends/ending scenes, but that's just so no one would spill the details before it airs. I am sure we will get a happy ending for them.
And with that, I am putting on my clown mask.

ok so my thoughts on today's gmmtv event:
we are getting (or at least are supposed to be getting) 22 series and 1 movie next year. out of those, 7 or 8 are mlm dramas (the "or 8" is because i can't tell you what's going on with 'be my favorite').
out of the series mentioned, i am most interested in 'star & sky', 'never let me go', 'vice versa' (on account of being mlm series that have very interesting premises), 'moonlight chicken' (on account of being p'aof's work), '10 years ticket' (on account of having ohm as the lead), 'be my favorite' (on account of what the fucking hell is going on, krist perawat and mike chinnarat starring opposite each other in a drama, where one of the central points is at the very least mike's character being in love with krist's character).
now, to my live blogging under the cut:
i am on my knees in front of the translators and everyone responsible for SUBTITLES in a LIVE STREAM;
gun and tay playing brothers in the three gentlebros is kinda cute (will i watch it tho? absolutely not);
does nanon ever catch a break like?? the amount of series he's in...
anyway, nanon described his series unidentified mysterious girlfriend as "a sci-fi romcom", but it looks like an alien horror mystery from the trailer, so that's,,,, incheresting, oh and drake is playing the bff again, which honestly good for him, the man's just chilling;
sir mr archen's first work on gmm being an mlm drama? mike, toptap, arm and jj in this same drama? the drama being separated into two parts, the first premise being about high school crushes reuniting later in life, and the second being lowkey atots-inspired? idk about you, but i'm writing down star & sky into my to-watch list;
love, chimon, aj & jj, and gun in a weird creepy boarding school drama home school? potentially something some of y'all might be into tbh idk;
made by the fish upon the sky creative team, earth and mix are in a new series cupid's last wish - there is an element of body-switching between a brother and a sister, and the trailer makes it all very confusing, but i'm pretty sure that ultimately it is also an mlm drama;
there is this series oops! mr. superstar hit on me about a young girl dating an older actor, which i am pretty much not interested in, except gawin is in it - his role is SUPER unclear tho, so i can't say anything more than that, something super background, i assume;
podd is in... something? i mean, the series is called my dear... donovan, and the trailer suggests that it's like a story about a model and a kindergarten teacher falling in love, and then things get kinda intense - i love podd, but his role is clearly very background, and otherwise i'm very not interested;
please never talk to me about new's series the warp effect... like yes, it is directed by jojo, but still... a big no from me;
khaotung and first's new series the eclipse is also an mlm drama - the premise isn't entirely clear to me tbh, there is some kind of a curse happening and it is definitely a thriller, but that's about all i got from that, it doesn't seem like my cup of tea tbh, but i'll need more info to make a concrete decision (i might still just try watching it when it comes out at the end of the day), oh and also aj is in it <3;
the ultimate gmm poster boy krist perawat has a new series good old days, of course (and there is also a little bit of tay, win and bright there and, as tradition dictates, bright plays a musician), the premise of finding out where the things from an antique shop come from is very interesting, but i am likely not going to be watching it;
never let me go is another series directed by jojo and this one i am VERY interested in - it's an mlm drama, very much about the complex relationship between the "bodyguard" and the person he is supposed to protect, intense in a very gripping way (something jojo is very good at), so very exciting (also, chimon is in it, though he isn't one of the leads);
gmm is gonna be big with the intense and dramatic next year, and i feel like 10 years ticket is the most intense and dramatic so far - i'm gonna be honest, it's not really the kind of thing i would typically watch, but ohm's the lead, so i'm obviously going to be watching this one;
love's series you fight, and i love actually looks kinda cute (and if you go back to circa 2019, i had a big crush on victor, who is also in the cast), but i can't say anything concrete atm;
we've got the midnight series trio which i am not sure why these series were put together, but they were:
in it, we have midnight motel - off's heist-esque series, which looks fun, but is something i probably won't be watching;
we finally have a series directed by p'aof, and it is also another earthmix series - moonlight chicken, i wanted to joke that gmm didn't just attach them by the hip, but sewed them together at this point, but p'aof can do absolutely whatever he wants, and i mean that genuinely - obviously watching that one, no questions about it;
dirty laundry is another series directed by jojo (does this man get any time to breathe? jeez), nanon is playing one of the leads and jennie is also in it, but as you might have noticed - as much as i am endlessly impressed by jojo's more serious dramatic work, his humor doesn't really go well with mine, and this series is definitely rather comedic, so i probably won't be watching it;
remember i said that jimmy should do everyone a favor and star as a lead in some nice series? well, we have vice versa, a body-swapping (or rather body possession?) mlm drama. can't believe i'm not freaking out about the fact that nanon and ohm are in it (and technically playing opposite each other), but they are clearly very secondary to the series, as they are basically just the vessels carrying the souls of the main characters (they are so secondary that they didn't even come out with the cast), but the fact itself is still wonderful (they really went "we need two people with a good connection that would have natural chemistry on screen despite only being in a couple of scenes" and chose ohmnanon);
p.s. i hate you is fucking intense my guy, and definitely not my thing;
my school president is another mlm drama, the premise seems to be a very classic high school story, but it's quite cute, so i will be at least trying to watch it;
win's new romcom devil sister also stars podd (and seemingly in the same role of "the other guy"), kinda cute but i probably won't be watching it;
no comments about be my favorite yet, it looks VERY interesting, but i am literally going feral over all the implications (krist? with mike? what is happening? holy shit);
bright's love triangle romcom astrophile is cute, but i'm not a big fan of love triangles, so i won't be watching it, even if jennie and toptap are also in the series;
my precious looks like it was first and foremost very fun to film - i want to see all the backstage stuff from it, nanon is the lead again which truly that boy doesn't take a break, and of course seeing ohm is very nice (and clearly means i will be watching it).

I will, i will never shut up about this, you can be annoyed with me but i really can't and won't shut up about phupha saying "i feel lonely."
It still stings up to this day every time i hear it. P'aof told his part of this scene, when he read the novel and immediately got surged by pity for phupha. He said, he could feel the loneliness, the sadness of phupha being alone on the hill with a sexual orientation that no one in the village had. So, he couldn't experience anything. Plus, phu wasn't immune to age. He's above 30 years old and still counting.
What he wanted was no longer adventure. Phu's job was adventurous enough and it slowly fatigued him. He yearned for a home. Not the physical but the reason to come home, because that's what his sore muscles worth.
Whenever phupha teased tian about being his wife, tian thought of it explicitly because he's just 21 years old or so. What tian failed to catch was phu wasn't actually talking about him being a wife. He was talking about being a life companion. This is what they call as adult approach.
And this understanding process would take time as tian was only a young adult. That's why phupha's approach was subtle, always trying to balance between a potential love interest and a patron figure. He didn't want to rush because tian might see him wrong or feel uncomfortable.
This didn't help with his reclusive nature and lack of experience in dating. His job as a chief required him to be on the serious side most of the time. Only Nam could make him open up more but not completely. He's used to building a big wall surrounding himself, being reticent was a way to avoid possible heartbreak.
This actually connects to why he's so angry when he found out about tian. He's afraid tian wasn't the tian he had acknowledged because tian, so far, was just behaving like that to reminisce torfun. But this will be in another post cus it's another story.
To conclude, phupha's confession about him being lonely might be just a light remark for some people. But idk this hits me so bad since 1) i relate to phupha personality-wise, 2) i didn't expect a thai drama to be so deep and immersive.
P'aof really gets out of thai drama fashion that "wastes no time" to let audiences know that details and in-depth character understanding are more important as they make more dynamics and better visual story-telling with various symbolisms and analogies that can substitute the script. The growth of atots characters' relationship are way more significant in my opinion, unlike what some people believe that there's a little to no growth. Maybe, you just miss the 'street signs.'

vv brainrot continuation:
the scene in the hospital. I'm sorry, but I have catastrophic vibrations from Vice Versa.
planning steal her son (can take him to another universe at least)
when Day calls his mom and tells her about songkhla, his voice has the same timbre as Talay, who talks about dreams in which he sees his friends from another universe
I want to recharge (get in line after Puen)
tinkering in bed with tickling and subsequent carrying on hands (sorry, but I almost missed this parallel because of the strained nipple that captured all my attention)
the kiss that didn't happen the one that is gentle but intense (lock these two clowns Puen and Mork in the same room, they have something to discuss)
do you really want me to go (7 ep, the scene with the hands at the gate. I'm so tired)
a promise on the little finger (someone get a confession out of Aof about how many times he reviewed Vice Versa)
don't tell us about drowning, please, we can't let you go to another universe.
I'm just not going to comment on this episode. I don't like it and I will never review it again.
IM GETTING THAT CONFESSION OUT OF P'AOF MYSELF BECAUSE IM FULLY CONVINCED HE WATCHED VICE VERSA WAY TOO MANY TIMES BUT AT THE SAME TIME I ALSO THINK HE SKIPPED SOME ESSENTIAL PARTS BECAUSE VICE VERSA THE SERIES THE FIRST OF HER NAME SEROTONIN GIVER QUEEN OF PARALLELISM ROMANTICISM AND SOULMATISM PROTECTOR OF TRUE LOVE CAPITAL LETTER BREAKER OF THE EPISODE 11 CURSE AND MOTHER OF NOMNOMS WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THIS TO US
i do have to apologize tho because the worry and the dread for what i was afraid would happen (and that then actually did happen) made me be very distracted throughout the entire episode and i don't have it in me to rewatch it quite yet, so i didn't catch a lot of brainrot this time around. you've already pointed out pretty much everything (THE THUMB ON LIPS PARALLEL!!!!!!! INSANITY), but let me just add:
1) FINALLY WE GOT THAT BRIDAL CARRY PARALLEL TOO!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) sea's characters closing their eyes while waiting to be kissed truly make me feel some type of way
