Hey so. PSA time. I don't mind if you use my gifs in your posts. I encourage it!
What I don't encourage is straight up reuploading my edits without some form of credit.
I've seen several people add my gifs to their posts with tumblr's built-in search system, which is great! Look:
Notice the clear credit. If you click it links back to my original post.
Awesome! Knock yourselves out! I love to see it!
But don't do this:
These are clearly mine, with my watermark in the lower right corner.
What makes me uncomfortable is that—to the average person who stumbles across this post—it looks like the gifs are op's and not mine.
They didn't add anything to make it unique. They didn't even reblog the original. They just cut my post in half, reuploaded it with a new caption, and called it a day.
It takes two seconds to credit the people who make things like this, who spend time and effort creating something for others to enjoy. Fandom creators thrive off engagement, and reposting without credit shoots them in the foot.
So knock it off.
